“What are the different ways that identity plays a role in how people behave, are treated, organize, or are discriminated against?” 

A person’s identity may contribute to a part of who they are, though women have often been shut down in the past just for being women and have been classified to fit only the “woman” role in society. Therefore today we have organizations that are trying to help reverse the effects of the past and recognize women for their individual abilities. For example, “The Voice” is an organization that is part of the “GlobalfundforWomen” Campaign and acts as a microphone or megaphone used to create awareness about women’s rights and perspectives. It also acts as a creative media to showcase the talents of women.

karliekloss: Today I am amplifying the voice of Rebeca Gyumi, @globalfundforwomen supported-activist, who tackles the challenges that prevent young girls from attending school in Tanzania. Her One Girl One Bike project supports young girls who walk long distances to school (up to 2-3 hours) arriving late and exhausted, affecting their ability to learn. The situation also puts girls at a high risk of sexual harassment, pregnancies and early marriages. By providing bicycles to girls, the students’ attendance and performance improved.
