Here’s the latest promo for the upcoming @therealjacksepticeye game Glitch in the System. made by the awesome people at @sarcastic-pasta-games. I also included a side-by-side comparison with the poster that inspired it.

While there are many Charlie Chaplin movie posters I could have chosen from, I immediately decided on this one, as I wanted to add in a little tribute to Gizmo. She’s the main reason this one took around a month longer then all the other promos, as I really wanted to get it right. In the end, I redrew and repainted her 7 times. I researched methods for painting fur as well as growth patterns. While I’ve learned something new every time I made a promo for GitS, I can say without a doubt, I’ve learned the most with this one. I also created some new brushes specifically for this piece that I know I’ll be using again, including an improved brush for hair, as well as a texture brush for the bricks. (If anyone using SAI wants the brush settings, lemme know and I’ll happily share them!)

I came to a realization last night: Working on these has made me a much better artist overall. I couldn’t sleep, so I started working on a screenshot redraw of Nanachi from Made in Abyss. I realized about 30 minutes in that I had been applying everything I learned while working on these promos and that it was taking me less time to draw it out then it would have 6 months ago. (I’ll post a wip for that one separately, if anyone wants to check it out.)  So yeah, thanks to Jack, as well as Katie and the rest of the Sarcastic Pasta crew. You’ve inspired and encouraged me to constantly challenge myself, and I have improved vastly thanks to you guys.

Because of how long this one took, I’m taking a small break from the promos to work on something else for a week or so. (I still have to draw Marvin and Dr. Henrik von Schneeplestein. Also considering drawing S34n. Not for a promo, just because I want to.) I’m currently working on the aformentioned Made in Abyss piece (because I’ve wanted to draw Nanachi ever since they first popped up in episode 10) and I kinda wanna play around with Medibang for Android, since my new tablet has a larger screen then my phone and thus gives me more space to work with.
