[A video is posted...
It picks up where the last one left off, more or less. Which is to say, it begins with Shardy saying,
"What the fuck?"
The great tree- or Trevenant- or voice of the forest- or whatever it is- makes a sound that is both somehow the groan of bending wood and... a laugh.
hello, my child, repeats the voice that is not a voice, that arrives in your head clearer than anything filtered through your ears. hello, hello I have waited for you to come
"Waited?" Shardy sounds almost... irritated, now, as though the release of terror has morphed it into something sharper. "Well, damn, if someone's late to come see me I usually drop 'em a line about it-"
i tried, i tried You almost found us before
It's hard to see Shardy's face from this angle but his body language closes, arms folding, shoulders stiffening.
"You mean when I- got. Lost. When I was a kid. Don't you."
you almost found us You found our dances You could have joined us You wished to join us
"No!" The response is sharp, immediate. "I knew what would happen if I joined you! I would have stayed- it would have- I never would have seen my dad or my brother again- that's why I ran away! I never wanted to join you!"
The assembly that surrounds the clearing sways and murmurs, tasting the lie. Shardy has never been good at lying.
you belong with us just as much as you belong with the human world
The words burrow into the mind with the patient inevitability of roots into the soil, and from the way Shardy writhes it is far worse for him.
"Shut the fuck up! I only came here to get- to get answers, not this taurosshit-"
i can give you answers If you are willing to listen If you will believe what you already know
Shardy does not answer immediately, shaking his head more as though trying to dislodge a splinter in his brain than anything else. But Her Majesty Queen Fezzerie the Third, offended on the part of the trainer she has decided is her responsibility to tutor, will not be so easily silenced. With a shrill shriek, she hops forward and aims a sizeable Sludge Bomb at the 'palm' of the wooden hands enveloping them.
The poison hits square- it would have been hard for her to miss- and the deep grooves and cracks in the bark draw the liquid inwards. For most Grass or Fairy types, it would have been a blow almost impossible to shake off. Shardy jumps, reaching out instinctively, although he seems unsure if he is reacting to protect his Pokemon or in sympathy with the damaged party.
The massive tree pauses, then stretches its woody digits, and with shocking delicacy bends two of them inwards to take hold of the tiny Roselia. She is, of course, having none of it; she sends out her own roots, driving them deep, Ingraining herself so she cannot be picked up.
The Glimwood Tangle looses its grip. It no longer needs it.
welcome, it says, and the soil writhes under the leafmould as a thousand, a million, uncountable other plants greet the newcomer to the network. welcome
Her Majesty Queen Fezzerie the Third is silent.
"Fezzie?" Shardy says, voice shaky. "Fezzie? Hey, what have you done to her? Fuck off with- let her go!"
she is safe She will not be harmed She is welcome
"You better not- you better not fucking hurt her-"
she offered roots We have roots We are only saying hello
Uncertain, Shardy subsides, then abruptly ducks down and grabs Blue Diamond from the floor, hugging him against his chest as though trying to protect the Glaceon from anything similar happening to him.
"If I listen to you- will you let her go?"
There is another answering sussuration from the massed, shifting audience. This time it sounds... positive. The tree sways, lets out another one of those groans that is a laugh.
a deal
"Fucking- fine then." Shardy plants his feet, squeezing Blue briefly, and nods. "You said you would give me answers. Give me the answers."
first you must give me the questions
"Oh, come on. Mother fucker. Fine. Why do I belong here? Why- why did Dad find my brother and me in the Tangle? Where did we come from?"
ah sighs the Tangle, and the wind echoes the sound, and the crowd echoes the wind. ah
once there was a woman who loved us
she was not afraid She understood
her blood was of the old blood Her blood as old as the oldest tree Her roots as deep as ours
she married As you humans do She bred As you humans do Two sons she bore She was happy
i was happy
she came to me one day then
deepest grief
an accident Two sons gone Two sons and a husband taken from her
she cried She said she would have them back She begged to have them back
her husband we could not give back
but we could give back her sons
we made for her her sons again We remembered their blood We built them anew for her I built them for her as they were
she would not take them
she did not want them
she ran
for the first time she was afraid of us For the first time she did not understand
we would not let them die again But we could not raise them We had made humans They needed humans
i put them where they would be found Where we could nourish them until they were found Until she came back for them
she did not come back for them
But a man came A good man He respected us We could respect him I let him take two sons
we have watched We have waited You are still alive
i always knew you would come home
The final words ring like the hammer of a fairy-smith, bonds forged long ago falling into place.
Shardy stands as still as stone.
it is all right, says the Glimwood Tangle, and its tone is soft, almost loving. there is time There is all the time in the world
Shardy nods. He does not speak. Blue cranes up to lick his cheek, and he caresses the short fur absently.
Queen Fezzerie jolts, as though released from some reverie, and withdraws her roots, hurrying back to Shardy's side. He ducks briefly to pat her on the head, then turns and begins to walk back the way he came.
The audience melts away before him, and the video ends.]

This is a bit of a belated Birthday gift for @shrimposaurus and it's their Characters, Fudo and Casper from their webcomic (which you should give a read by the way)! Should also note it was a ton of fun playing with the bioluminescent effects! Thanks for always being an awesome friend Shaz! :D

Pokémon information report #19: Sparkly Shiinotic
A couple centuries ago in Galar, the chemicals that give Shiinotic their bioluminescence were collected and used to make lamps glow. There exists some form of mental training that made one resistant to the sleep-inducing effects of Shiinotic's spores, further supported by a recent uncovering of an old script near Stow-On-Side that detailed the techniques used likely as a guide to those who were learning them. The trend died out almost as quick as it came, however, as the Morelull and Shiinotic population in Glimwood Tangle would begin to plummet leading to the permanent ban on Shiinotic hunting, even after modern Poké Balls would have made things much easier. And no, there is no "safe" way to do it since the procedure does permanent damage to the tissue in Shiinotic's caps. Even so, hundreds of individuals are caught selling the fluids obtained from Shiinotic on the black market every year.

[A video is posted...
It starts pitch black, and the first thing that fades slowly into visibility is a fuzzy red smear, glowing with ominous intensity in the centre of the darkness.
And the first thing audible is Shardy's voice, babbling something inaudible but terrified-sounding in the background.
For a long moment it is only that, as the edges of the red smear begin to gradually sharpen and Shardy's words become more and more understandable, a stream of "Fuck fuck fuck what is this what's happening what is this-"
And then everything snaps into clarity all at once, and the smear is the eye of a Trevenant.
It's a big Trevenant, and its wood is gnarled and caked with moss in a way that suggests some considerable age. It is regarding the phone with what can only be described as mild interest.
A few letters flicker to life, forming across the recording as if being typed:
T H A N K Y O U
The Trevenant makes a noise like the bending of branches in a gale, and holds up the cleanse tag that was previously pasted to the back of the phone's case. That burning eye shifts towards it for a moment, and the paper flares red with sudden flame and disintegrates.
The typed letters shift into something else.
H A H A H A
Another answering creak from the Trevenant, and it uncurls its clawed fingers from the phone to let it float freely. Buoyed by the loss of the cleanse tag, it does a little flip; the ghosts are pleased, it seems.
Shardy is still talking in the background, and it's still very much the same thing. But now there's also a rustling undercurrent to the audioscape, a murmuring sussuration that creeps into the hindbrain without truly bothering the ears and sets every hair directly on end, and it is... everywhere.
The phone spins round, and as it does the view zooms out.
They are everywhere.
The scene is lit now by light that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere, a washed-out and inconsistent light that wavers and ripples and casts shadows that flicker and cavort like puppets behind a screen. And it doesn't truly illuminate what's there so much as it dances around and upon it, highlighting a feature here and an element there before it flits away to somewhere, something else.
And when it does choose to linger, it does not like to let the eye settle on what it sees and grasp it; even something that should be plain and understandable once lit shifts and warps under the attention, mutable as the surface of a pond.
There are- more Trevenant. Probably. Trees that are walking, handlike branches reaching, trunks both willow-thin and oaken-sturdy and everything in between, leaves a riot of uncertain colours. And Florges, most likely, or something like them; masses of blooms, gaudy-bright, revealing and hiding and shifting to form what should be, could be, must be faces. Clusters of Shiinotic that could be groups of many or one massed creature built of a thousand, glimmering with spores. And further away the shadows form the hulking shapes of Grimmsnarl, but only sometimes; their fingers, their arms reach impossibly long, their bodies twisting, and it is too hard to tell if they vanish or become... something else.
And a thousand smaller things rattle and scuttle and chitter in the undergrowth, and there is no-one who can tell what it is that laughs as it ruffles the fern-fronds, and there is the sense it would be unwise to know.
Shardy has his arms over his head, his words still coming, a desperate mantra against overwhelming panic. Blue and Fezzerie are crushed against his legs, against each other, Blue's teeth bared in a rictus snarl and Fezzerie's flowers thrust outwards in helpless defiance.
It... would be wrong to say that silence falls out of nowhere, then.
Because what happens is something whispers, hush, without any such word being spoken, and the shifting crowds amongst the trees go still, and the small things quieten, and suddenly it is as if this tiny clearing is an auditorium and in just a moment the play will begin.
Shardy stops talking, and very slowly lifts his head.
And, just as slowly, the vast tree before him, so huge it was almost invisible, shudders and bends, and two vast branches dip and curl their woody digits around his suddenly tiny, human figure like a person might cup a newly hatched Pokemon in their hands with infinite care.
And the Glimwood Tangle sighs, hello, my child]
