Staying cosy in the recently organised studio with a cup of tea, a podcast on and lots of tiny ceramic beads to paint in glaze. Watch out @little_mouse_pottery - these little treasures will be on their way back to you for glaze firing soon. 😆. . . . #pottery #glazefiring #ceramics #ceramicbeads #organicceramics #handpaintedglaze #makeyourownbeads #beadart #beadartist #potterybeads https://www.instagram.com/p/ClD3kG4odMk/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Happy Digimon anniversary! I'm not a huge fan of Digimon but here's a clay Gabumon painted with underglaze and before the clear glaze was added. I didn't have many colors to work with, but I still think it turned out well.
I will probably make another post after the glazefire.

Hi! <3
I don't have a presentable snippet for this one, but it's basically a canon-divergence where XLH sets her face and never lets her true identity slip to DFQC. She goes through with marrying Changheng and goes to fight Tai Sui, but at the last minute, DFQC realizes that the Xishan Goddess is going to exhaust her primordial spirit, and goes to help her. Glazefire appears in the process.
So between the two of them, Tai Sui is defeated and both of them live. But a weakened DFQC (who still doesn't know Xiyun is XLH) falls into Shuiyuntian's hands and Xiao Lanhua is well and good tied to Changheng. It starts with Xiao Lanhua waking up after her wedding day/fighting Tai Sui day.
Thanks for asking! This was fun.

I agree with much of your critique on LBFAD. DFQC wasn't evil, he was tortured into being a weapon so I don't really get why he needed to suffer so much for redemption. I would have loved to see him use his newfound powers in the finale to demonstrate that he still remained the most powerful in three realms. Power of love so to speak.
I was annoyed by all the pointless suffering too. But perhaps DFQC needed to suffer and sacrifice to become worthy of glazefire? Like how he had to suffer to get hellfire in the first place? That's the only way I can stomach all the DFQC whump post ep 26. It serves no narrative purpose otherwise.
When I first watched the drama I was unhappy with the ending. I loved the early episodes and preferred badass, rational, logical DFQC over the version we got at the end. But then I realised that he wasn't invincible. That hellfire didn't really save him from imprisonment. Only Orchid could have saved and healed him so in a way his life was a gift given by her. That helped me to make peace with the ending.
Thank you for your comment, Nonnie! I think that you get the point of the meaning of the pointless sufferings as the way to get the power of a Hero. A Hero is not an usual person, so to get some unique abilities he needs to pay the highest price (that only hero can pay and is not availible for commoners). At the same time there is a certain pattern in european and american culture (in chinese it is not but LBDAF feels pretty western and is much suitable for american and european viewers) that a hero should be spotless and shining, and for those who missbehaved in the past (even if they admited their mistake and turned to the light side) there is no forgivness. Only atonement and death (or, in the very few situations, atonement only, but then a person should suffer A LOT and be at the brink of death (or die and ressurect later). For me Qingcang is fluffy and didn't deserve sufferings but in terms of heroism he was a bad guy at the beginning and should pay for that. It's an interesting conclusion about "his mighty power could not save him from dying 30 000 years ago". I didn't think about it in these terms but I also admired the beginning of the story which starts with saving a villain. Good attitudes go round and cause world saving, what a nice thought for a series!

Glaze fire redo: started loading realized had some coils hanging, so torched them and stapled them back into place Finished loading fired her up at 8:43a (30mins on low) have an 1hr on Med and then turn it to high. Babysit her until she turns off. So keeping busy running wires on construction job with my Dad and nailing studs that were missed by workers. Being productive. People will still need dishes they can sterilize, hobbies to do and houses to live in so I'm still working. Kiln has plates, yarn bowls and Christmas ornaments excited to see how they turn out. New glaze combo too. #potterylife🎉 #corona19 #glazefiredpottery #glazefired #firingkilns (at Franklin Grove, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-HqMMHjGGi/?igshid=s5genc35bu3s

Ceramic and glazing workshops: 13/12/21
Recently, I attended both the clay building workshop as well as the glazing class led by the lecturers Mary and Elaine who demonstrated the various techniques and workmanship surrounding the clay process such as: Hand building- using your hands to form an object out of clay, coiling- rolling out a coil of clay and built up in a spiral, throwing- a potter will use a manual or electric potters wheel to center a mound of spinning clay and shape the walls while the wheel is spinning.
Tumblr media
This was extremely helpful as the lecturers were friendly and also gave us ideas on which clay artists we should research and helped us with clay modelling plan. I created sketches of various poses and medium such as oil pastels, markers, paint and pencils! I also created a concept behind my fox piece! The Celtic spirals on the foxes‘ tail is inspired by Celtic myths surrounding foxes such as St Brigid and the fox, and this suggests the role that foxes play in our Irish culture and ancient culture. As the Celtic fox is seen as a symbol of diplomacy – knowing when to appear and make his point, but also, equally, knowing when to recede back into the shadows and quietly disappear – highly-respected qualities for a diplomatic leader! This meant that various Celtic leaders in bygone eras often featured fox nicknames as part of their title eg The Celtic chieftain of Gaul, Louernicus, was known as the “Son of the Fox”, and the tenth century Scottish king, Ua Leochann, was called ‘An Sionnach’ (The Fox) for his diplomacy skills! I learnt about these facts in this article linked below, I found it very interesting!
https://www.lottibrowndesigns.com/blog/celtic-fox-art-symbolism
The red colour featured on its tail represents play as a source of heat, eg it is on fire from the warmth! And the eyes are outlined with kohl/black to represent the charred remains after a fire.
I decided to create a 3D (volume) fox piece instead of a slab work after gaining advice from Mary on which would work best. Therefore, I spent two weeks and a half moulding my fox before attending the glazing workshop (the final workshop of the 1st semester). When the fox was fully dry it was put in the kiln. 🦊🎇🌟
Elaine instructed us on the process of glazing by showing us a demonstration by putting her bisque clay piece into water. After this, she painted her piece with glaze paints using thin layers. We copied this method and then we dipped our pieces into a clay slip afterwards and then let them dry before putting them in the kiln.✨🌟I am very happy with how the fox turned out and am glad to have gained so much more knowledge on ceramics as I am hoping to do ceramics as part of my three electives in 2nd semester.

Oooohh... That Xiyun team up sounds interesting! Can we learn more?
Thanks for asking! This was another canon divergence for the endgame. Xiyun!XLH exposes herself early, and DFQC, Changheng, Xiao Lanhua and maybe Danyin? plot to defeat Tai Sui together. The details are very fuzzy in my mind. It was basically an excuse for this exchange:
DFQC and Changheng tell XLH that they're going to help her fight Tai Sui
She's squatting down, her chin in her hands, not looking at them. She says, "With just your cultivation?" 凭你们的法力?
DFQC and Changheng look at each other like, what? Did this little flower spirit just say that?
XLH flings up her hand and vines wrap around the two men. They struggle but can't get free
"That's only a fraction of Tai Sui's power. How are you going to help me?"
Glazefire appears and DFQC frees himself
I have no idea if XLH being overpowered compared to Dongfang Qingcang and Changheng makes sense given evidence in canon, but it's funny as hell to me.
At some point DFQC also says to her: If you die, then there is no hope for me.
