Unpopular opinion I do not care about Benoit Blanc’a husband. I am his husband.

It’s me, I’m the girl
Bond girls are out. Blanc girls (underprivileged women who screw over rich assholes with the help of this silly detective) are in.

Between Ryan Gosling Ken and Benoit Blanc I'm starting to think that it's some sort of animal abuse to keep casting big name actors in stoic macho manly man rolls instead of giving them goofy little guys to play. Like look at them their coats are shiny, they seem so much more lively and energetic. We need to make sure all actors have enough goofy little guys to play before peta gets involved.

I keep seeing Takes about how recent media like Glass Onion and The Menu aren’t taking “eat the rich” seriously enough to launch real change or revolution and like?? yeah??? popular crowd-pleasing entertainment where horrible rich people Suffer A Comeuppance for the pleasure of an audience is one of the oldest tropes in all of human history???? It is a crowd pleaser! It is the bread (ha) and butter of the Western canon! It is in Chaucer it is in Dante it is in Shakespeare it is the stuff of Dickens and 95% of Agatha Christie and almost every teen movie ever made??????? “look at these horrible rich idiots and hypocrites…and now enjoy their DESTRUCTION” transcends time and space and historical moments! It is so strange to be surprised that Hollywood returns to this well without any intention of seeking anything more transgressive than an audience having a hearty chuckle lmao
#it would be great if we could all walk away from Omelas but expecting billion dollar studios to lead the charge seems a bit misguided#spoilers#kinda but not really more than the trailers tell you#the menu#glass onion#Norton Anthology of Literature#etc#Clue!#The Sting!#now I’m just naming movies I’ve watched this week

I headcanon that it's a fake because I can't imagine the French loaning out a painting to an American billionaire, and it's even funnier to think that they gave Miles a fake and he never noticed 😂
I've just about come to the conclusion that the reason a lot of analyses of Glass Onion are so desperate to invent a film where the painting that gets blown up in the final act is a fake is because they've internalised the idea that people who destroy art are Always Evil (No Exceptions), so their only options are a. to arrive at a reading of the film where Helen Brand is secretly the villain of the piece, or b. to construct a version of events where she never really destroys any art – and quite understandably, they opt for the second one!
Unfortunately, in constructing a scenario where Helen Brand never destroys any art, they're missing what the film is actually doing – namely, constructing a scenario in which it's morally justifiable to blow up the Mona Lisa.

Imagine what the titles of the Benoit Blanc series are going to look like in a couple of decades if they continue the apparent pattern of adding one more syllable with each sequel.

what i think people are missing about derol in glass onion is that he is played by noah segan. the same guy who played trooper wagner in the first knives out movie. and i for one, think noah should continue to play goofy little characters in the rest of the knives out movies. not anything to do with the mystery, not a potential killer or anything, just a goofy little guy living his best life, fangirling over his fave mystery author and getting high as hell on a billionaires greek island. good for him.
