IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA ⇢ 8x10 | REYNOLDS VS. REYNOLDS: THE CEREAL DEFENSE
Mac, look. You're wasting our time. You're not gonna get us to not believe in evolution. And why is that? Because the smartest scientists in the entire world all agree that it's real. I'm glad you brought that up, because, Mr. Reynolds, science is a liar sometimes. Oh, boy. This is Aristotle, thought to be the smartest man on the planet. He believed that the Earth was the center of the universe, and everybody believed him, because he was so smart. Until another smartest guy came around-Galileo. And he disproved that theory, making Aristotle and everybody else on Earth… look like a… bitch. Of course, Galileo then thought… comets were an optical illusion, and there was no way that the moon could cause the ocean's tides. Everybody believed that because he was so smart. He was also wrong, making him and everyone else on Earth… look like a bitch again.

‼️NIGHTBRINGER LESSON 55 SPOILERS‼️
masterlist | all lessons | season 3 | lesson 54 | lesson 55.2 | lesson 56.1 | lesson 56.2
not they ended last lesson on the cliffhanger and barely addressed it in this one 🧍🏾
honestly that's on par for someone as closed off as raphael but FUCK i wanted some insight on how he's actually feeling. what's up with angels and not letting themselves show weakness ???
also the fact that this part of the lesson is called "back to the sorcerer's society" ??? mc's had too many death scares i can't keep doing this
gotta get all the mammon crumbs i can now that i know that the stupid date feature is 30 FUCKING DOLLARS 😐 i'm semi p2p but this shit is getting more and more ridiculous as the days drag on. like i'll just use character and and fanfiction atp
it's the way that i forgot the fact that mc's existence can literally tear apart reality at the seams. like that whole thing that happened in season 3 (4?) of og when simeon had to steal lucifer's ring and ended up becoming human bc of it
i feel like his punishment would've been way more lethal if the stakes weren't so dire. mc having lucifer's ring was the only sure fire way to ensure stability within and between the human, celestial, and demon realms without having any of them implode
this also explains why magic sickness is so concerning for mc specifically. to quote marvel, kayden is probably this universe's anchor being. if they go down, so does everything else in the timeline
me and sol got beef now bc what /lh
like yes he did what had to be done but did he HAVE to do what had to be done ????
also the fact that mc broke the measuring device after solomon had to fix it with reinforcements bc he himself broke the device before is so ??? like how fucking strong is mc ??????
this brings even more of a concern to the fact that a war breaking out between any of the realms would literally be life and death. if any of the brothers or their friends family get hurt, mc would cause irreparable damage to whoever or whatever is closest to them, whether the target caused the problem or not. like that's terrifying
this is why i love satan
he's almost more no-bullshit than lucifer is, which makes sense all things considered. in his eyes they still don't know anything about mc's power. all this is to satan is an educated guess, and when it inevitably gets disproved, then what? what if they do end up hurting someone
i doubt that'll happen since there's so little time left in this season but idk. it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility
i'm very glad that they used the very obvious answer as to why mc's powers are going haywire, bc the whole "it's just bc they're so loving and kind" thing just seemed like a cop out to me. like where are the stakes. what about the first 40 lessons of the game
ANYWAYS i'm very interested to see how this'll play out. part of me thinks diavolo and lucifer already know bc 1) they're not stupid and 2) dia is in close enough proximity to the time demon himself to know when something happened to the time stream (or as barbie himself called it, "time soup")
like look at the way barbatos reacted and the way diavolo immediately changed the subject. they both know something's going on, but whether or not diavolo knows the specifics is up in the air
satan is also the funniest mf on the planet idc argue with the wall. he really is the product of all his brothers bc this SCREAMS mammon and levi
:((( poor raph
i honestly can't even imagine what it feels like. the only angels he probably has left that he's actually close to are michael and maybe luke. even then, he probaboy sees luke as someone he can't confide in and feels like he's losing his brother(s) all over again
at least with simeon in purgatory hall, he can delude himself into thinking that simeon's still an angel. but if he's not there anymore, it's all but set in stone that he's lost what little connection he had left to simeon and, in a way, the other brothers, bc luke wasn't around or old enough to remember pre-war times
on a brighter note...michael lore. kinda. and mephisto being a kisser of multiple asses (mephisto fans i'm sorry he's so fun to dog on)
i wish he could get his head outta his ass though. like actually. just pay your boyfriend a visit ffs, he'd be beyond happy to see you
of COURSE he's not in his room and of COURSE this is how the lesson ends
watch lesson 60 end with a michael-related cliffhanger. like watch them tease his design reveal and then just cut the shit off right before he's shown
but i need the michael design asap i'm so serious. solmare count your days

TMAGP uhhhh *checks transcript* 24 live reaction and thoughts, spoilers under the cut
Gwen: pls let me go meet the monsters again
Lena: no…. Ok fine but only if you help me get rid of my annoying asshole boss when he shows up later
Gwen: bet
Why did I think the mother in this case was Celia for a hot second
Wait a fucking second this lady doesn’t remember shit about the pregnancy or the birth???? Are we sure this isn’t Celia?????
Like I know the intro of the case (courtesy of Norris, haven’t had a case from him in a while) calls her Patricia but like. This cannot be a coincidence.
DEMON BABY DEMON BABY DEMON BABY D-
CELIA MENTION IN THE CASE so the mother isn’t Celia got it
Awww demon baby likes Celia
Is the demon baby drinking blood?
I like that this case is just as horror oriented as it is an accurate depiction of new mothers’ struggles, especially single moms.
Yup he’s drinking blood
These health visitors are sus
this might be inspired by changeling lore I think
the transcript saying “it is not a baby” is kind of hilarious tbh
Oooh Sam and Celia field trip
Alice stopping them to lore dump about what she learned and subsequently figured out from her conversation with Gwen last episode is the kind of clear communication the characters should have had in TMA
Celia believing Alice the second she mentions tape recorders is very much not disproving the universe hopper theory
I’m glad they’re agreeing to watch each other’s backs, even if Sam and Alice are butting heads
Awww Alice really cares
wtf why is basira a school headmistress
Why does she sound so different from how I remember her in TMA
Celia asking about her being a cop is very TMA

okay actual serious ep80 thoughts now
first things first: "tHeY didn’t LeArN aNyThInG" feels like it’s really reductive. i think people came into this expecting all of their communication problems to be insta-fixed so that they can be a perfect cute little found family and that's just not how bh rolls. i do think that it was a much needed diversion from them constantly forcing themselves into third gear (along with the wok sledding, everyone forgets the wok sledding) to stop the bad guys. other people have pointed out that if not given any instructions they’ll be fine with opening up to each other and being genuine, but they froze and immediately started getting antsy the moment they were told to. i just think that’s funny.
i don’t think imogen and laudna are hypocrites. rather they’re very much stuck with their own traumas and assume that their experiences are universal. imogen thinks she was born cursed and that everything in her life has just been set up to punish her for something she inherently deserves. there’s an abusive cunt off the port bow trapped in laudna’s head that she literally had to force herself to walk away from (and make saving throws to stop) to not be forced into hoovering up that shard without her consent.
they both saw fearne shrug off dozens of times she could have died horribly or faced terrible consequences and get off scott-free and missed the forest for the trees. they want her to take power because she can actively consent to it rather than be slapped with insane power at a young age and then forced to course-correct, which probably explains why they got so angry at ashton for "tricking" her: they saw it as them taking something she could use to better herself.
and on that note, laudna telling fearne she’s glad she could make her choice didn’t feel like it was backhanded, envious, bitter, none of that. i think she genuinely does see this as fearne making a choice on her own behalf in a way that she is incapable of.
the whole kerfuffle with callowmoore didn’t make me hate the ship, but it did make me even less fond of the fans of it given the shippers who turned on ashton saying all kindsa nasty shit that got disproved in the 4sd. i’ve always preferred the idea of a slowburn with these two because ashley has said fearne is unsure of how she would handle love or a relationship herself and now taliesin has said that ashton finds themselves unlovable.
as much as i joke and bitch, i don’t think that everyone’s been "forcing the ship" so much as they’ve been assuming that the constant flirtations between the two of them will make them more comfortable with taking the shard and meeting in the middle. the two of them deciding to be friends for the moment is far superior and makes the slow burn way more likable because now it’s something on their own terms rather than them getting together because they were told to.
irregardless of it stays platonic or develops into romance "callowmoore is abusive" is a terrible take no matter if you like the ship or hate it and i hate that it got blown so far out of proportion anditmademelegithateanothershipbutlikethatsnotimportantrightnowandidontwantpeopletogetmadatmeokay.
and yet! there’s always going to be this huge discomfort of the fact that fearne was always unsure about taking it, didn’t explain why she was unsure to anybody expect for chetney (and orym should have fucking said something), and then just decided to take it just so people would stop hassling her about it. she wasn’t forced into taking it but she certainly was backed into a corner about it. she did not ever want it but she saw that it was making everyone really upset and took it because hey, might as well.
"we all might as well" is something everyone’s been saying and while everyone else has their reasons for making the best out of a terrible situation, fearne notably did not have the exact same problem that most of them shared (i have this insane power inside me threatening to blow at any given second that i just have to live with on a daily basis). she wasn’t even aware of the raw deal she had been saddled in her existence with until it was pointed out to her!
long story short the main problem it seems that bh has to get over is just assuming they know what's best for each other. it should’ve been fcg and i will die on that hill. let ashton have a robot sister.
#🍃#critical role#critrole#cr spoilers#fearne calloway#edit: I'VE EDITED THIS POST LIKE 17 TIMES BUT I GOTTA ADD THIS#i don't think matt or the table railroaded ashley into taking the shard or were encouraging her to take a risk#at least we won't know til we get laura on 4sd again#fearneposting

I recently 100% completed Kirby and the Forgotten Land which was really fun but that got me thinking of something random
Do you all remember before Forgotten Land came out that people thought King Dedede shown was actually from alternate universe because his design was different and how he “didn’t look possessed”
I always thought that theory was weird and I glad it got disproved tbh
Despite this though,I really love out there Kirby theories and I’m excited to see the theories that will come once the next mainline game is announced

@respectthepetty first off, that was an amazing deep dive, and I'm so glad that you're as obssessed with these characters as I am. Seriously, how is this show not completely taking over the minds of all BL girlies yet? Get on the clown train, people!
I agree that Lomfon is a fasicnating character, and also a wonderfully complex (pseudo-)antagonist in Patts-Tai storyline. Your analysis on Lomfon is spot on: he is logical, challenges the notion of soulmates and ponders its value over shared interests with the other person.
Soulmates in Rainverse and the analogy to Modern Love
As much as the show revolves around soulmates and the novelty of that experience in the show's universe, it also actively challenges the idea of soulmates and its meaning, via the failed marriage of Tai's parents and Lomfon.
No matter the relationship, there has to be something more than love, a connection, COLORS(!), or a shared condition. There has to be communication, understanding, a desire to stay, AND a desire to see the other person happy.
Yes to all of this. But I want to focus on a commentary in the show that might be subtle, but nonetheless discusses something that is equally important in any relationship.
There are plenty of moments in the show where the brief rain-inflicted hearing loss is framed as a disease and how it is endured by the people who are affected. This sentiment is also reflected by the characters who have the condition, whenever they discuss it on the show
But if we shift the focus to how the rest of the world treats this condition and how they respond to it in their everyday lives, a new perspective emerges.
When we see Patts' friends talking about his hearing loss, this is what they had to say
His friends are worried because they, for a brief period of time, are cut off from Patts and have to go through a extra hurdle to communicate with him at this time. They fear that him having this experience that is so foreign to them, something that they can never relate to, only sympathise with, is isolating Patts.
And when Patts and his gf were fighting, this is what she states as the breaking point
Her inability to share the experience of hearing loss with Patts makes her feel like an outsider. And on top of that, she knows that Patts can share his experience with someone, his soulmate. Even when he reassures her that he has no romantic interest, and that he only wants to talk to his soulmate because he doesn't want them to go through this experience alone, it is not enough to soothe her mind.
All these discussions make me wonder if the show is layering a subtext underneath the soulmate aspect of Rainverse: boundaries in relationships and navigating the reality of sharing a life with someone, who might sometimes have experiences away from you.
It is simply not realistic to spend your every waking moment with the people you love. The life experiences are not always the same, and sometimes, the experiences you want might not interest the other person. This doesn't mean that they are drifting away, it simply means that people have complex lives and multiple interests that doesn't need to be always aligned with their loved ones.
Lomfon and the folly of excessive logic
Yes, Lomfon is logical. He approaches the rain-induced hearing loss and its effects similar to how a scientist would do it: hard facts. And in result, he brings in some very valid arguments to the entire concept of soulmates.
But. But.
In having a one-track mind laser focused on challenging and disproving the soulmates theory, he has already failed at one of the most important parts of any relationship, soulmate or otherwise: open and honest communication. If we assume that Lomfon is the acquaintance who helped Tai through the difficult times of his parents' divorce, then he has established a communcation with Tai that is severely lopsided.
Also, given how he is already establishing himself as someone who has a lot of similar interests with Tai, he has immersed himself into the "must have common interests" part of the love equation, while fully ignoring the "must give them space to have differing experiences" part.
And this is why I don't trust him. I don't trust him to come to his senses quick enough before he causes a whole lot of hurt. I recently went down a Myers-Biggs personality test rabbit hole and I'm convinced that Lamfon is a INTJ (logical, plans ahead, heavy reluctance in acknowledging the intelligence of other people, difficulty in factoring in the feelings and emotions of the people around them into whatever calculation is currently running in their brain, etc). So when the tension in the group finally boils over, and someone (possibly Tien) sits him down to explain why his elaborate flowchart to win Tai's heart might not be his best idea, I'm afraid that he will simply stick his snob nose up in the air and ignore them.
I am aware that I'm watching a BL and so the chances of a genuinely sad ending is extremely low, and yet, whenever I see this boy, my heart fears.
woah that's a lot of words, apologies if you made it this far

Why do you think Aegon the Conqueror couldn’t endure Visenya’s presence later in marriage during his reign as king? P.S. love your blog xoxo
Ah thank you, glad you like the varied ramblings <3
Honestly, it's entirely open to speculation as to why they fell out as spectacularly as they did. There is absolutely no documentation on how these two felt about each other at all, and the only mention we get that even approaches on anything touching the subject is the fact that there was an in-universe joke at Aegon's court that the reason why Visenya was put in charge of building the Red Keep was so that Aegon "would not have to endure her presence on Dragonstone". It's why I always say that any theorizing about the Conquerors always veers into straight headcanoning after a little bit, because we know so little that trying to extrapolate interpretations really just depends on how an individual perceives them as people and their relationships.
It could be that they were just never close and never really liked each other much, and as they got older were just less able to put that to the side and decided that the less they saw of each other, the better. If they already had a relationship fueled by enmity and never cared for each other, once they got what they needed from each other (an son in the form of Maegor, a spare to Aenys's heir for Aegon and a foothold in her own power for Visenya), they both agreed that they didn't need to spend any more time together and that it was best to split duties in order not to be in the same place at the same time. After all, when Aegon was an active ruler living in King's Landing with Aenys, Visenya and Maegor were at Dragonstone, and once Aegon decided to spend more time at Dragonstone while passing on most of his kingly duties to his son, he put Visenya in charge of the the Red Keep so that she'd be in King's Landing, still away from him (though Maegor was in residence on Dragonstone while he was there, which is a lot but also a matter for another time).
It could be that Visenya might have done something in those years to get on Aegon's bad side. Common perception in Westeros was that Visenya was the odd one out in her marriage, with the old saying like that "Aegon wed Visenya out of duty and Rhaenys out of desire." and the court noticing that "the king spent ten nights with Rhaenys for every night with Visenya" being very popular talking points not just in historical circles later, but contemporaneously while they were alive. With Rhaenys gone after her death in the First Dornish War, Aegon shooting down any suggestions that he take another wife, and Visenya then providing Aegon with a male child herself to disprove rumors that she was barren, Visenya was in the strongest position as a consort specifically than she had ever been since she got married. And Visenya might have let that get to her head, and since we know she wasn't shy not just about thinking Aenys an unfit king while he was actively reigning, but also about her opinions on Rhaenys herself, given that it was able to be recorded that "Queen Visenya thought her sister frivolous" (though I've discussed that quote and my thoughts surrounding it in detail and I do think it's more complicated than that), Visenya might have said some unkind things about Rhaenys that Aegon overheard. Maybe she mentioned Rhaenys's rumored infidelities (another thing I don't subscribe to personally) or just disparaged her as a person, or the fact that she died, and Aegon, who canonically never entirely got over what happened to his most beloved wife/baby sister, heard it and that led to a falling out that would eventually lead to being unable to endure having her even in the same part of the country as him.
It could also be that their grief over what happened to Rhaenys drove them apart. Grief is a really powerful thing, and it can sometimes create wounds that don't ever fully heal, especially if the grief is caused by an external factor, such as someone being killed by someone else's deliberate actions, for instance. It's why some couples end up divorced after the loss of a child, for example. It could honestly be that Rhaenys's death, already during a precarious time (in the middle of a war that wasn't going the exact way Aegon and Visenya wanted it to go), not to mention the way it created some immediate stressors for Aegon specifically in Aenys's mental breakdown and new worries for the succession, as well as weakening the Targaryens as a dynasty, might have just been too much to overcome, even once the war was over. Neither Aegon nor Visenya seem like people who were inclined to talk their feelings out or even try to vocalize them at all, simply preferring to internalize them, and that this meant they never communicated their needs to each other to try and be able to find peace with what happened to Rhaenys, and it ultimately drove them away from each other rather than bringing them closer together.
I do think, however, that the key thing to remember here is that the common elements that led to Aegon and Visenya being the way they were with each other later in life is that they were cold with each other, and grew more distant. That doesn't speak to them having a sudden argument and immediately hating each other, but a situation that got worse and worse over time. Which leads us into what I personally think went down.
My own personal theory, however, is a bit more complex. I've always viewed Rhaenys as having been the glue that held her family together, due to the fact that Visenya was never bothered by her inclusion in the marriage, Orys and her seemed to be quite friendly, and obviously Aegon adored her. So her unexpected and tragically early demise, especially in the way it happened (literally shot out of the sky and crashing to the ground amidst the death throes of her beloved dragon) affected both siblings deeply, possibly irreparably, like I mentioned above, though I do think it drew them closer together for a time when they were basically carpet bombing Dorne. And when Aegon made the seemingly unilateral choice to end the war with Dorne, in what appears to be direct defiance to Visenya's own desires ("Prince Nymor’s peace proposals encountered strong opposition in King’s Landing. Queen Visenya was hard set against them. “No peace without submission,” she declared, and her friends on the king’s council echoed her words."), I think Visenya was not only angry at the decision, but potentially offended that she wasn't taken into consideration as well as deeply hurt Aegon was willing to put what happened to Rhaenys in the past, considering Visenya was just as involved in the Dragon's Wroth, a direct response to Rhaenys's death motivated by grief and rage for it, as he was. And while I do think that Aegon had his own reasons for it*, I highly doubt that he shared those reasons with Visenya, so to her it looks like she was being treated not as the co-monarch she was, but just as a mere queen consort, which is insulting, and not given any consultation in a decision that involved not just the realm, but family as well, as Rhaenys was her sister too. So you now have two people I don't believe were ever super close, beyond the love that a brother and sister might have for each other, especially when compared to Aegon's relationships with Orys and Rhaenys, neither of whom were the kind of people capable or even equipped to either offer comfort to the other or express how they were feeling, and both heavily feeling a very profound loss that has affected the very fabric of how this family operates, now in a situation where they're drifting further away than they already might have organically due to circumstances that are never going to be addressed or rectified because of who they are as people. And this likely progressively got worse and worse as everything settled in, to the point of literally damaging Aegon's relationship with Maegor, that after a good few years it likely did get to the point of Aegon and Visenya not being able to stand being in the same city. And I do think it eventually became more Aegon based than Visenya based, considering that he was the one dealing with the most pressure and the most profound feelings about it, being a widower and having to take care of a kid who almost died as a result of all of this and living with the weight of his choices and being the primary source of governance for six out of seven kingdoms on an entire continent.
TL;DR There are a lot of reasons that generally depend on how you view the relationship between the two of them, but my own view is that the circumstances of Rhaenys's death in Dorne and Aegon's eventual decision to go for peace over Visenya's wishes exacerbated some already complex dynamics between the two of them into something genuinely unfixable and neither of them were willing or able to try. And thanks for loving the blog, hugs and kisses!!
*My pet theory has always been that Nymor's letter contained the revelation that Rhaenys had managed to survive Meraxes's fall (it's possible, given what we seen with Aegon II and Baela Targaryen later) and had until recently been in the possession of the Ullers, given that she was shot down over Hellholt, but that the Martells had taken custody of her and were sending her to Dragonstone so that Aegon could at least have her remains, if not outright get a chance to say goodbye, as she was likely still fatally injured. It explains why Aegon reacted so strongly to the letter, why he immediately flew to Dragonstone (to verify the truth, possibly say goodbye to Rhaenys if she was still alive when he arrived, and at least give her a proper Targaryen funeral), and why he was so willing to immediately agree to peace with Dorne and be on such good terms with the Martells later in his reign, realizing the kindness they did him with this and Aegon himself having likely already reached the conclusion that the war couldn't carry on. If Visenya found out that this was the reason, and that Aegon hadn't just made a decision without her input on something this massive but had denied her an opportunity for goodbye and closure with someone she loved dearly (as a sister and also in my other pet theory that Visenya was a lesbian and in love with Rhaenys too), then that's an added reason why she and Aegon grew further and further apart.

i see a lot of people talking about how fatness isn't inherently unhealthy, and yes, good, im glad they're doing that. but i do also want to point out that even if fatness were as unhealthy as certain people like to claim. it wouldn't change anything. even if we were to straight up categorize fatness as a chronic illness that wouldn't make becoming thin the cure. the simple fact is that a lot of fat people eat the same amount and the same quality of food as naturally thin people. even if their fatness was unhealthy, them eating less would only serve to make them unhealthy in different and likely much worse ways. and also fucking miserable. do you know how fucking miserable starving yourself is? it's really fucking miserable. the base assumption people make is that to become fat one needs to overeat or eat "bad" food and that's just. patently false. extremely easily disprovable. just because that's the case for them, as naturally thin people, does not make it an universal truth. it's especially insane when doctors treat it as if it is one. i do know that a lot of fatphobia is taught to them but also like. they must understand the concept of different people having different metabolisms? and they must understand the functions of starvation too. how do they go on being so totally wrong

susato for the character ask game! if she’s already been sent in then olive/viridian :^)
AAAAAAAH THANK YOU!!! im doing both because i feel like i say everything i think abt susato immediately on here lmao so i probably have more olive thoughts than anything
headcanon A: realistic
susato is autistic. sososo autistic. and as a result she learned most of her Way of Speaking (and english in general) from the herlock sholmes zine serials, which i think is actually pseudo-canon according to an interview with the localizer janet hsu? but anyway at one point she says something like “it is a great joy to know what emotions lie behind that cold mask” with the utmost politeness to, like, maria or somebody, and iris is like. ohh susie! i think i know where you got that from! ^-^ and susato has the delayed realization that half of her prepared lines were written by a ten year old
also susato has really good sea legs considering she's spent like [thinks] eight whole months at sea by the time she arrives in japan post-canon
i really like that one fanart with the headcanon that olive needs glasses!! i also think that she had severe anxiety as a teenager (and still does, it just manifests in a different way now) such that she had trouble speaking at all at times (selective mutism) which is how she got to be so fast at painting arrows on her palette thing. it's lessened a bit by the time we meet her but she likes doing it for emphasis anyway
headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
i cannot find the fanart for the life of me but please know i am always constantly thinking about that one comic where susato flies away with her hair loops flapping like a bird's wings. i am haunted by it.
on a more original note i think susato should consensually steal iris's smoke gun so she can go try to shoot her initials into the walls of the mikotoba mansion again. "the problem with the Real gun, naruhodou-sama, was the recoil! but this one should do the trick :)!" she succeeds and also dyes her father's hair blue in the process. hey at least he matches with sholmes-of-two-months-ago now
oh god let's see, do i have any good olive headcanons? i think her middle name is viridian and the difference between her original and localization counterparts is that viridian hates the color olive and olive hates the color viridian. they're both so glad their parents gave them two options.
headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
maybe i should have put this one in "realistic" but: consider the fact that susato arrives to london early the second time because she didn't get on the same boat as her father. consider that after they find out about him, both ryuunosuke and susato think it's possible that yuujin knew kazuma wasn't dead (even though this is disproved immediately after they tell him about it). consider susato running away from ryuunosuke after telling him she has to leave in 1-5. anyway i think avoidance is susato's main coping mechanism and she chose to spend 2 more months alone on a ship with no one she knew because she couldn't bear to look at her father for more than three seconds without making herself sick with wondering what he was hiding
i thought for so long about olive but the thing is. i genuinely don't think i could make her story more tragic than it already is without making it just, horrifically dark, you know? i thought a bit about whether she would be executed for attempted murder but i do think the system of tgaa is more lenient on that than the actual modern ace attorney universe, so. let's see — canon says she has parents and that she and duncan were waiting to graduate before telling them about their engagement, so i think they tried to talk to her after she dropped out but the selective mutism kicked in for like. a very long period of time. while she went to briar road every day, pretending not to hear them calling after her that this wasn't healthy. she heard them talk about possibly institutionalizing her behind her back and figured, what's another straitjacket. after she gets placed in prison they do come visit her and try to hide that they're horrified that she would ever go so far as to poison someone for that ross boy who they never did approve of that much, but she can tell. she doesn't speak much to them. they still visit every week.
headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
i have said this probably a million times already but susato should have Exploded in 2-5!!! she should have blown up!!!! she should have had a meltdown!!!! why don't we have a susato breakdown sprite other than her trying to chuck her book into the ocean!!!!!!!!!! also she spills everything to haori once she gets back and they kiss about it.
ALSO also this isn't "unrealistic" exactly but it is unbelievable to me that susato & haori are not canonically childhood best friends so i am just. going to canonize that. one extra word. there
while in prison olive keeps drawing anywhere and everywhere and more and more people join in until it's a whole underground movement thing, and 200 years later textbooks will say that the term and practice of "art therapy" originated from a felon convicted of attempted murder whose name has sadly been lost to the annals of history (her signature was stylized in all-lowercase like "olive green" so as to be Emo, and so they thought she was just making a statement about color theory)
#tgaa spoilers#tgaa2 spoilers#tgaa 2 spoilers#dgs spoilers#dgs2 spoilers#dgs 2 spoilers#jules.txt#g: ace attorney#annoyingloudmicrowavecultist#mail#THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK I LOVE GETTING OPPORTUNITIES TO BRAINSTORM#i am completely sold on selectively mute olive now. im not sure why i wasnt before#caps

Valicer Polyship Week, Day Six: Drabble(s) (Soulmate AU)
Day Six of Valicer Polyship Week, courtesy of @polyshipweek, and we’re up to the day where I had the most trouble picking a prompt. Most of the others had something that immediately stood out to me, but Day Six’s prompts were “Identity Porn” (a term I was unfamiliar with -- it was later clarified as “stories about dealing with multiple identities,” i.e., Superman dealing with being both Superman and Clark Kent, and I don’t really have anything like that for the Valicer trio), “Mythology AU” (while I have a fairy version of Smiler, I tend to go for generic fantasy AUs over specific mythologies), “Drabble(s)” (you know, keeping it short -- which, if you’re familiar with my fics, you know is not something I’m always good at), and the visual prompt of “Big Comfy Couch” (a “draw the squad” picture of a bunch of people on a couch, which could have worked but I felt something like that was more suited to a bigger polycule, and I was trying to focus on just Valicer for this week). As you can see, I ended up going with “Drabble(s),” as the post expanding on the prompts indicated that multiples of 100 were acceptable so long as you kept it short! And once I had THAT sorted, I decided that the best way to handle it was to use my Soulmate AU and write about the fact that, when the soulmate bond(s) first form, you have a symbolic dream relating to your new soulmate(s). My original idea was to do a separate drabble for each dream, but that didn’t work out great, so I instead did a triple-drabble (300 words) of them describing the dreams to each other. Which ended up being one of the easiest fics to write in the end -- perhaps I should try keeping it to 300 words more often. XD Enjoy!
---
“So – what was yours?”
“Pardon?”
“Your dream,” Smiler pressed. “What was it?”
“Oh.” Alice cast her mind back to the fateful night when the universe had inextricably tied her soul to Victor’s and Smiler’s. “I was sailing in a paper boat across an ink sea, under a purple sky filled with spiraling yellow clouds. At the time, I thought I’d just stumbled across some forgotten bit of Wonderland – a hypothesis disproved when I truly arrived back there and no one knew what I was talking about.” She looked between her soulmates. “Yours?”
“I was sitting in the roots of a glowing tree, with spiral branches and multicolored leaves,” Victor told her with a smile. “I felt so – so safe there, so warm and cherished, I was almost sad to wake up. But I was also thrilled, because – because it felt like my soulmate would really love me, if that was my dream.”
“I was chasing blue butterflies across a path of dominoes in the sky,” Smiler reported. “To the tune of the most beautiful piano music I’d ever heard. I was pretty high up, but I wasn’t scared of falling – in fact, I felt more free than I had in a long time. It gave me hope that I had a future better than Kelman’s little ‘sanctuary.’”
Alice nodded slowly. “For me, it felt like I’d finally come home when I ended up in that boat,” she said, voice soft. “Like I’d regained something I’d thought lost forever. A single moment of clarity and peace inside the hellhole that was Rutledge.” She reached for their hands. “I’m so glad you two were the ones to give it to me.”
Victor and Smiler beamed back, fingers both delicate and callused twining with hers. “We’re happy it was you for us too.”

first of all, i’m not sure why you felt the need to “disprove” a harmless post ultimately stating “look at how much people have opened up to the ship a decade later, that’s pretty cool.” you’re speaking from your experiences, which aren’t universal among the fandom. plenty and plenty of people can tell you just how much flack you would get if you preferred kataang over zutara prior to it becoming canon and even way after. so yes, it is the underdog ship (compared to zutara). it’s much popular now, but that doesn’t erase fandom history.
contrary to what your experiences might’ve been, zutara was the most popular ship during the original airing of atla. which allowed zutara shippers to do all kinds of despicable behaviour towards other ships, particularly towards kataang and maiko shippers (seriously, there’s a gigantic post listing out how horribly they treated any shipper who would disagree with them). sick and tired of this victimizing narrative that Zutara Shippers Did Nothing Wrong and that it was all the Evil Kataang’s Fault, when one of mine (and plenty of others’) primary reasons for disliking zutara started off because of how intolerant the shippers are towards anyone who prefers canon.
since you brought up ross and rachel, that is an example of a canon ship that has had huge support while the show was original airing, but now more and more people outright despise it. the same can be said for chuck and blair. kataang, on the other hand, is a canon ship that started off with way less support (with more people preferring zutara) during the original air. a decade later, it’s grown in terms of its popularity, such that it can now pull these huge numbers. in terms of popularity between the two ships, going back to atla’s original airing, zutara was always the clear winner. but i think it’s amazing that kataang has gotten to the point where it rivals and even sometimes exceeds zutara’s popularity on particular fandom spaces. that was the point of my post, that you so clearly misinterpreted because you think i was for some reason dissing your ship instead of celebrating the popularity growth of mine.
“the fandom is finally healing” is just an expression. but on the topic of toxicity and keeping up the ship war and not being respectful, there’s clearly one side that’s had a greater history of it. and yes, that’s your side. so much so that many people are turned off from the ship because of how awful the fandom is; because they can’t like their favourite characters (aside from katara or zuko) in peace; because they can’t be fans of the canon ships or aang and mai as characters while navigating zutara fandom spaces; because there’s racist and misogynistic tropes and content praised in the fandom; because you accuse anyone of disliking the ship to be misogynists; because you demand content creators who don’t even ship it to create content for the ship; because you clog up the central and other ship tags with your meta, and fans who just want to engage in general atla content can’t do so without reading about how aang is an abuser; because of your fandom entitlement towards anyone who has a different perspective on the ship than you do.
“nowadays, im glad both ships are being supported.” you can cut the bullshit because i highly doubt you do, given that you felt the apparent need to jump on a harmless post talking about how fandoms attitudes towards kataang have changed over time as somehow a diss towards your ship.
kataang was always the underdog and controversial ship but do you guys remember when shipping them was very unpopular bc everyone was basically a zutara shipper?? like im talking back when atla was airing. so the fact that they’re pulling numbers like these in this day and age is kind of crazy.

whenever talking to people about the way even having a government that does financially support low income people (centrelink here in australia, welfare in general (don’t @ me about the cost on taxpayers because i will not care to be swayed on this)) that there are flaws in how that system is managed, the process required to access and stay on that support, and the way people talk about people who need that support to survive
whenever i talk to people about this stuff, with my very little perspective on it, i keep hitting up against the same general comments, made lightly but always make my go hmmm....
which is: any comment about how people are getting paid to do nothing. it could be a statement about dole bludgers, about people who spend the money on frivolous or illegal things, about people who are on financial support so they aren’t even trying to look for work, about people who are lazy, about people who don’t deserve that money unlike all the struggling people trying to survive with below the poverty line government money in an impossible housing and job market that they’re grouped with
and i’m always taken aback because i generally have these sorts of conversations with pretty progressive people but i think the wound of having to justify your existence is so deeply internalised we turn it on others
because i am coming at this issue from a perspective of thinking everyone deserves basic amenities and dignity and we don’t have a right to tell people what to do with their money and
even beyond that i believe that people deserve to exist without contributing anything to society
that’s people’s sticking point i struggle with
because people will re-define what contributing to society is before they think about what it would be like to have some people just existing, to create support structures that are truly universal and non conditional, to not treat charity as a virtue but rather as a responsibility, to share resources with people who do not show gratitude or repay them, simply because it is the right thing to do. To be considered of the same value of someone who’s habits you disagree with.
like yes i agree, things like art and care and assistance and camaraderie are inherently valuable despite being completely undervalued and arbitrarily priced in capitalist systems, but i’m not saying people who don’t have jobs are still capable of creating value i’m saying that people who don’t have jobs deserve the basic dignity of housing and survival and more.
because if someone can’t hold down a job due to a disability they should still be able to have fun and live a normal life, if someone won’t hold down a job because they don’t want to contribute to society then the burden of supporting them shouldn’t be revoked because why do they HAVE to contribute anything? there aren’t even enough jobs to go around so shouldn’t people be glad that there’s less competition? If you support home makers why can’t you support individuals without a family unit who want to pursue whatever makes them happy?
like, sorry to ramble but i keep thinking about this because i am constantly disturbed by how quickly people take up the stance of revoking basic dignity without seeing it “earned”. i’m tired of the expectation to earn stability.
we all joke about how hobbyists like fic writers and wiki editors and more disprove the concept that financial incentives are required to get people working and innovating but I am begging you all to add onto that thought that not everyone HAS to work and innovate and that’s a good thing actually.

Hi there! I never got the time/chance to send you a message; it's not really a question either it's just to say thank you for all your asks and Claude talks. I was feeling every lonely with all my feelings about how bad Hopes!Claude was written (as a writer myself) and like a bit bemused by how no one dared to say it was bad writing because they didn't want to hurt anyone - or be insulted or called racists? - but after I found your blog I felt less lonely.
Also my humble opinion about all this is that people would be less intense about it if they remember that it's NOT a FE game but a Warrior game and that they have never been good with plots (as a Hyrule warrior fan...I almost miss the first one; it was more obivous that it was not to be considered canon). People see very complex character dev when it's just...laziness. Anyway I admire your patience and dedication, keep the good job! don't lose faith. Have a great day.
Hi!
I'm glad the discussions on this blog have made you feel better about your feelings!
Personally I think there's a big line between criticizing writing for being poorly handled and hurting people when discussing those things. For instance, a big reason I started talking about it here is because whenever I saw people discussing it on Twitter, there were a lot of insults going around and passive aggressive comments in people's opinions who liked GW Claude about people who didn't. It's one thing to enjoy something that others didn't enjoy, but it's another to, instead of discussing it factually, putting other fans down for how they felt while playing that route. I never felt like trying to talk about my opinions regarding GW was safe there as far as how people would react to it.
I was actually taking a break from Tumblr prior to coming back and talking a lot about Three Hopes, but I started getting a lot of new followers when I came back who wanted to discuss it with me and it was really nice that I had people to talk about it with. Unfortunately the aforementioned Twitter users don't seem to be people who want to actually discuss and instead prefer to just say non-GW fans aren't real Claude fans, don't understand him, etc.
If people like GW Claude that's their deal, and I don't dislike people for that. What I dislike is people putting down their friends, followers, mutuals, other fans, what have you in passive aggressive posts and acting like anyone else who doesn't things their way is just stupid or doesn't understand the writing.
As for the racism aspect, thankfully most people have understood it's not the players but the writing that has very unfortunate racist undertones. Players criticize it for that too, so I'm at least glad that the majority of players noticed that were a very consistent pattern going on with Almyrans and that, regardless of whether or not people like this portrayal of Claude, saw the portrayal of Almyrans as a whole as one of GW's biggest issues.
One of the reasons a lot of people keep taking Hopes Claude as the true canon is because they refer to the old interview where the devs said they intended to make a little more shady, essentially. My problem with that is that in GW, he's a lot more than a little bit more underhanded, and he's definitely not just "morally ambiguous Claude". He's a total wreck of a character that didn't make sense even within the story's own universe, even if you don't include Houses Claude as a comparison. If you do compare him to Houses Claude, it's a whole other can of worms to add if you're going to say "that's how he was always meant to be", because no, it's not. It's "what he was meant to be" but five hundred times worse and dumber. The dumber part is a huge factor in disproving that Hopes Claude is what Houses Claude was originally going to be.
All around, the story was just very messy and as I've mentioned before, Claude was written to be dragged around for the sake of the plot, whereas Dimitri in AG was true to his character and the plot centered around him rather than him being a character that was dragged around by the whims of the plot.
You're right that it's a Warriors game and not meant to be viewed as canon, but unfortunately people are going to keep waving that old interview in our faces and insist that it proves Hopes Claude is canon. There was a different writing team for this game with iirc only a few of them from the original game, so of course things would come out a bit different, but since it was a Warriors game they could kind of just... do whatever for a story and not mean for it to have any impact on Houses.
Thankfully I found lots of nonnies (or well, they found me/my blog!) who wanted to talk about their feelings about GW too, and it's been nice to be able to talk about it and see that a lot of other people had the same issues with it that I did. I also don't mind if people disagree with me or if I disagree with some things from my nonnies, as long as people want to actually talk about it politely and have a critically thought out conversation. Not, you know, "my opinion is different from yours and therefore you're wrong". We've even discussed other things like AG and Ashe & Lonato throughout all the asks, so there's been a lot of conversation here! I hope to have more conversations about Houses and maybe Hopes in the future, or even Engage someday and maybe even some older games.
Sorry this is such a late reply! I am Snail.™
I hope you have had great days since sending this and will continue having great days!

RIVA I'M SO GLAD YOU ASKED @disneyprincessdxminatrix
-
Based off Sims 4.
Any warnings pertaining to BG3 also go here, including use of Basemental Mod and Wicked Whims (BOTH 18+++). I mean it's Baldur's Gate 3, there are exposed quivering brain things and you can fuck a bear. So what else is new. Anyway.
-
Shadowheart
a spellcaster of Practical Magic (Realm of Magic)
grew up in a cult
now free of said cult
#goth cottagecore (Cottage Living)
The idea starts with Shadowheart freshly broken free of a cult she had been indoctrinated as a child. The cult probably would be the secret society from Discover University OR using the Club feature from Get Together OR using mods to create something much more devious. She's out, and always had dreams of her own little cottage, being in peace and free of those harsh expectations and judgement. She wants a piece of land with cows and chickens and a garden and a pond and so many things—the world is now open to her, as frightening as that sounds, but she has little to her name. She's been outcasted from everything she's known. She will need help. It's an interesting neighborhood out there with interesting people...
Astarion
one (1) bitey boi (Vampires)
ex-Judge (Discover University)
estranged sex worker (Wicked Whims mod)
#WHATINTHESWEETHELLS
Astarion is still a vampire, yes. He was a Judge from the Law Career before some hissing bastard named Cazador bit him and turned him into a vampire. Cazador runs a bar/strip club, except it's a front to bring in warm bodies for him to feed. He uses his 'workers' to do accomplish this, and being the master vamp, well...you don't refuse your master.
Except for one night when Astarion is abducted. Be it either by aliens or perhaps a much too attached client, Astarion is now far from 'home' for the first time in who knows how long. He swiftly and gleefully dispatches his abductors, although anything was a far better cry than that wicked place of work. He tastes human (Sim) blood plasma for the first time (after a rotten afterlife of plasma fruits and paltry and cold blood packs just to keep them alive and working). He's far from his master's influences. He's in a completely new place. He's lost. He could do anything. He doesn't know what to do.
Gale
also a spellcaster, Untamed Magic
oof ouch ow
#STOPLICKINGTHEDAMNTHING
Gale was studying magic with his cat in the Magic Realm until something messed him up. Either he tried to cast a 'forbidden' spell (not included in game, just lore from my head) and was outcasted from the Realm, or he developed a chronic condition and becomes Charged much too easily (magic becoming unstable, again, a headcanon, for now). Any spell he makes could mean a death sentence. Who knows how long he really has in the world, how long anybody has. How easy would it be to have it all taken from you in a stroke of hubris.
He sets out to explore what he can and pens it. Perhaps even an autobiography. There's magic in writing. In game, authors can even bring Sims back to life with their books, should the need arise. Maybe he can find someplace where he'd feel important once again.
Wyll
just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man neighbor guy
will (Wyll) bake you cookies, that's a threat and a promise
#provoketheBladesufferitssting
Wyll is one of the only ones in the main group that sort of has his life together, although long term wise, he's not so sure yet. His dad is an important member of the community, probably the chief of the police department. His son is known through the neighborhood for being a good guy, selfless and eager to help. He rescues kittens from trees. Helps the old ladies open up their food stalls. Picks up litter from the street. Disproves of you littering. Come on man, that's just not necessary, the bin is right there.
I'd imagine Wyll would whoop the asses of burglars as well, if we had them in The Sims 4. In the Sims 3, dreams come true in this regard.
He'd do anything as long as he thinks it's right. There's a darkness in the community, he's sure of it. Monsters and ne'er-do-wells are out there lurking and preying on the innocent. Werewolves go on their rampages and make a mess of the community, frighten the citizens. Aliens chase people with their probes, or so the tales go. Maybe they need help, too. We all know he tries to find the best in all of us. Unless their name is Cazador or something like that. Then they're going down.
Other than that, he feels compelled to please his father and meet his expectations, to fill his shoes, to do better for the community, but he also wants to fall in love, have kids, be something his loved ones are proud of.
I know she's integral to his storyline but No Mizora Allowed. Fuck Mizora. Her and Raphael are probably business barons or loan sharks in this AU.
Lae'zel
resident alien
not the one that abducted Astarion
lost
#tsk'va!
Lae'zel probably crash-landed somewhere off in the fields. With no ship, she can't get back home. She has to find others of her kind or some way to reach the stars again. She quickly learns the inhabitants of this planet are skittish, off-putting, ill-disciplined. To make things easier for herself, she needs a disguise. Then she can get a hang of things TEMPORARY, of course, until she finds her way home.
She's scared, and aggressive to the residents if they try to help her. They wouldn't understand. Would they? They couldn't actually be of any use. Could they? She really needs help. Would she actually take it? Maybe this place is more bizarre than she thought, more interesting. More beautiful. More kind.
Karlach
tough as nails, sweet as cake
worked with some dickhead, didn't work out
#hot shit
Swinging from loud and proud to a temper hotter than any fire, Karlach just got out of a bad position in life with her own scars and bruises. Her boss was not a good man. It wasn't a good line of work, but it did pay well, at least until her boss sold her out, either to save his own ass or for extra lining in his wallet.
I'm thinking maybe she spent some time in jail. But now she's out. She wants to kick her employer's ass. Take down the business while she's at it. But she's also free! She can do whatever she wants. She can make new friends. Her past follows close behind in pursuit. She has to be careful when she's not used to being careful, an adjustment back into society for sure, but she's going to try.
-
Start off with an empty lot. Off-the-Grid and Simple Living Lot Traits. A dash of rags-to-riches, here we go. ▸▸▸
I'm thinking....I'm thinking Baldur's Gate 3 + Sims AU
