ੈ✩‧₊˚༺Star Crossed Haters Mythology ༻ੈ✩‧₊˚
Allaida created Kuhlwen and Elektras and all other non-god beings on the planet. They did not birth the twins as by typical reproductive conventions, considering that, as the first being in the world, they did not have the need for reproductive organs as they were the only being in existence. Allaida created their offspring by infusing each element with a piece of their soul, and Kuhlwen and Elektras embody not only an element, but also a part of Allaida.
Allaida presents themselves as agender because, when they first created all animals, there was more than one sex. The diversity between the morphs of animals was much more noticeable and plentiful in the early millennia of the world. But, as evolution took over, many creatures evolved to have only 2 sexes. Those species found it unnecessary with their biological makeup to have more than 2 sexes. Of course, some species still have more than 2 sexes, and some can switch between the two.
The Parent God created Kuhlwen when a small piece of a meteorite fell off the full rock. It contained interesting compounds which are not identifiable with the Espyn technology currently available, but nevertheless, Allaida saw something in the meteorite and felt that it needed to become sentient – hence Kuhlwen’s existence. Elektras was created when Allaida was once struck by lightning, and it took a piece of their soul along with it.
Kuhlwen and Elektras are the eldest of the gods. They are twins and the embodiment of Earth as a whole. Elektras’ control over the rain is what accumulated into Thanirrh later on. Thanirrh later did eventually take domain over rain – as did Glacon, who was created from the accumulation of snow and hail, but instead of taking domain over rain, he took domain over snow, sleet and hail.
Vohona was created from Kuhlwen – melted lava transcended into fire, blah blah blah – but Kuhlwen still has domain over lava, as well as metals too. Kuhlwen embodies the more careful and sturdy side of Allaida, mildly influenced by her element of rocks. While she treads lightly, Kuhlwen’s abilities over lava can burst out into her moments of fury, causing volcanic eruptions. The kingdom that Kuhlwen has claimed as her own is Akameen.
Elektras controls the winds and electricity. Electricity is fully controlled by her, but he also has offspring for each of the winds: North, South, East, and West, named for the cardinal directions and which wind they control. The wind spirits are not gods, although they are immortal. They are merely wind nymphs, like the Greek Naiads. He represents the more energetic and pushy side of Allaida. The Storm God also has twins – Thanirrh, the Water God, and Glacon, the Ice God. She presides over the kingdom Minsare.
Vohona has a much fierier spirit than her mother, Kuhlwen. She holds a lot of anger inside, preferring not to reveal her more personal emotions (this may or may not directly affect everyone who she gifts with a Reya [seen most prominently in our very own Apex], causing their personalities to reflect Vohona’s). Her feud with the Nature Goddess is the cause of many forest fires. Vohona claims the kingdom Fujimura as her own. The Fire Goddess also has nymphs that assist her – Ash and Ember. The nymphs take over the forest fires, and Vohona keeps them in check.
Thanirrh is the god presiding over water. He is a much more “go with the flow” kind of guy, reflecting his affinity for water. However, like the ocean, he has a darker side to him. Horrid weather out in the waters, such as hurricanes or tropical storms, are caused by Thanirrh’s fury. Thanirrh has a twin brother, Glacon, who controls ice and snow. The Water God calls Hydeau his kingdom. Thanirrh also has a nymph for assistance – Mist. She, well, controls the mists, as Thanirrh has more responsibilities and cannot take over mist.
Glacon is the ice and snow god. Thanirrh is his twin brother, and Glacon is the polar opposite of his twin. His personality is much colder and icy, much like is expected from his element. The Ice God may be a deity, but he cannot bring about winter all on his own. For this reason, Glacon enlists the assistance of Leedstas, creatures he created that have minor control over winter, to help him spread the icy season. Glacon declares Khaenpanii as his kingdom.
Lastly, there’s Parako, the Nature Goddess. She was the last of the gods to be created, and, unlike most of the gods, was created by Allaida. Parako was rejected by her siblings for her element, as it showed her as “weak”, and deities are meant to be strong. However, Parako has a particularly good relationship with Thanirrh. She resides in Watarumi, the island that houses the training academy for children with Reyas, as the mainland kingdoms were already taken by her relatives. Parako does not rule over Watarumi like her siblings do with their kingdoms because Allaida thinks the Nature Goddess is too young. This is what led to Parako being forgotten by nearly all Espyns on Dodomi. Just like her older siblings, Parako was created by Allaida by infusing some of the Parent God’s soul with the corresponding element. Allaida infused the calmer and nicer part of them into a cherry tree, thus creating Parako.
Nymphs, as referenced earlier, are creatures created by the gods to assist them. Espyns, on the other hand, were created by Allaida, as with the other regular creatures. The Espyns inhabit Dodomi and the few exceptional ones get Reyas, while nymphs have a minor ability to control some gods’ elements. All gods, but Allaida and Parako, have kingdoms and give the royalty Reyas. The nymphs that inhabit this world are North, South, East, and West for Elektras, Ember and Ash for Vohona, Mist for Thanirrh, and the Leedstas for Glacon. Each nymph (or nymph species) has a job, assigned by their creator. Parako is the only deity that has no offspring/nymphs. Allaida created the original three gods, and Kuhlwen created Vohona, so they do not have nymphs.
A/N: Nyota wrote all of this and it caused her some seriously burn-out but hopefully this is helpful to the main plot line a little bit more (^○^).

A/N: Yay chapter 2 is out!! This chapter is from Kaeda's perspective :D, and it written by me. Just an update for those who haven't seen it, Nyota's Wattpad postings of SCH will be on hiatus until my Tumblr chapters are in sync with hers :) You can find the complete masterlist of the series here
Warning(s) : Cursing, mentions of frostbite, enemies to lovers, fantasy + royal universe Homophobes stay away!!
Pairing(s): Kaepex
The Next Day...
Damnit.
Damnit. Damnit. Damnit.
You’d think the crown princess of Khaenpanii could keep track of where she keeps her state-of-the-art pearl encrusted signet ring.
Well, if you did, you thought wrong.
At least that’s what it seemed like as I rummaged through my now irritatingly lavish bedchambers.
Technically, the bedchamber wasn’t mine, I was just staying here for the time being. For the past ten years, I’ve been here on Watarumi Island to continue my studies as heir of my kingdom.
But that’s not the only reason I’m here. My kingdom of Khaenpanii is the birthplace of countless Sylas, who are Espyns given a gift from the gods – the Espyn in question is granted good luck and prosperity for their kingdom, but also a singular wish with no limitations.
Only one Syla is born to each generation, and my kingdom has been feuding with the neighboring kingdom of Fujimura for the title. It’s a great title; only those with Reyas can become Syla, which is rare enough as it is. Once put through a ritual at the center of our continent, they are given the gift of the Syla from the gods themselves.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s an honorable thing to accomplish, but it’s also a big title to live up to.
Ever since I was young, both Khaenpanii and Fujimura decided their heir would become the Syla of this generation.
And usually that would be a problem – what with forced rivalry and all – but the crown princess of Fujimura is a patronizing slug.
They call her Apex – a predator in the making ever since her older brother, the ex-crown prince Daxton give up his birthright for a life dedicated to the gods. It caused quite a ruckus in not only Fujimura, but Khaenpanii as well, since now their sweet little Princess Kaeda had an opponent in this unspoken competition for the Syla title, but Prince Daxton’s castaway little sister Apex, who was given the rule of the kingdom like an unwanted rag.
And as sad as that sounds, Princess Apex, or that’s what they call her at least, is heartless, and has the emotional capacity and range of a pebble.
Obviously, someone like her shouldn’t be given such an important title, much less be considered for it – what with her lack of etiquette, acting as if she’s above royalty, the nerve, and the way she presents herself as if we’re nothing like pawns in her little game.
Just the thought of it makes my blood boil.
I sigh, warding away another mental rant about the princess. She was only 10 months older than me and somehow it felt like 10 years. Many could agree I’m more sociable than her – but something about her demanded respect.
Our Reyas are polar opposites too. All Reyas are special abilities gifted to an Espyn from a specific god, each different in their own way. My Reya was gifted from Glacon, the ice god. And Apex’s was gifted by Vohona, the goddess of fire.
Out of all the Espyns on the continent, it had to be us. Would we have been friends in a different world, in different circumstances?
No, probably not.
I see a glint in the corner of my eye, breaking me out of my reverie, filling me with relief.
There it was, my signet ring, nestled amongst a pile of scrolls and a quill. Picking it up and sliding it on my finger, I marveled at the small name engraved into the smooth, indented surface: Kaeda Leona Cynet. It was gifted to me before I left for Watarumi by my mother, Queen Vila Cynet herself.
Knock Knock Knock
“My lady? Are you all set, or do you require some assistance?” a voice calls out, one I recognize to the sweet chambermaid who would provide me with calming tea after a long day of studies, Raeha.
“No, I’m alright thank you.” I call out, hefting the big stack of scrolls I brought with me, and trying to keep the overstuffed bag of clothes over my aching shoulder. It wasn’t much, considering I’ve been here 10 years of my life, but they were very strict with their rules. No letters, pack extremely lightly, respect the curfews and pull your own weight. It was a long ten years, unforgettable for sure, but today, today I was finally going home.
Looking back at the room I stayed in for the majority of my childhood, I felt a pang of sadness as the realization dawned on me that I was leaving this all behind.
The laughter and conversations made in the big dining pavilion, the soft breeze that kept me cool at night, and even just the sheer thrill of running down the vast halls that seemed to be infinite. The last nights, poring over ancient scrolls, forbidden or not, and helping Raeha and the other chambermaid Eudora cook meals for all the inhabitants at the temple and palace.
And training in the courtyard - with the crystal-clear pools of cool water and hot water alike – each fine-tuned to push my ability to its limits. The sensation of creating ice crystals from just my fingertips would never cease to amaze me, time and time again.
And the not as wonderful moments – the pain I’d feel every night, equivalent to internal frostbite almost, as I’d cry myself to sleep after a rough day of training. The occasional pang of homesickness. The hot tears of frustration threatening to spill from the corners of my eyes whenever I just couldn’t get a certain thing right or understand it. The overwhelming thick blanket of stress that would threaten to suffocate me if I gave in.
But even so, those moments made me who I am today.
It almost made me forget the fact that I wasn’t the only one studying here.
Obviously, the crown princesses training to become the best of the best both needed to attend the most elite schooling system in the world. That being the ancient temples of Josuna on Watarumi Island, with a palace here for those who attended.
Ugh, now I think about it, I spent most of my childhood with Princess Apex of all people.
Shaking the thought out of my head, I take one last look at my childhood home before I leave the room, shutting the big door behind me with my foot, all while balancing the heaping pile of papers in my arms.
Trying to see through the mound of parchment, I make my way down the hallway, the heels of my shoes clicking as the sound rebounds throughout the halls, the foyer in the distance. From there, the grand doors will open and eventually past the gates we’ll set out to the dock, where we would set sail for Dodomi for the next week or so.
But everything just felt so wrong. A small part of me didn’t want to leave, it just wanted to turn around and flop back down on the big bed in my bedchambers and relax as Raeha gave me some more tea.
But I had a duty to serve my people, and eventually the world once I become Syla. No matter how much I want to go back. I had to.
Lost in my thoughts, I crashed into something, catching me off guard.
“Oof!” I groan, toppling backwards into something solid and steady, feeling my feet slip from underneath me with the realization that I was going to fall. Hard. And it was going to hurt.
My scrolls clattered to the floor, the bag slipping off my shoulders and thumping against the floor, all while a strong arm encircles my waist and jerks me back, preventing further injury.
“Oh my gods, I am so sorry, thank y-” Before I could finish apologizing for being so distracted, I cut myself off as I realized who caught me.
And there I stood - frozen in shock as I was held in place, two vibrant teal eyes staring right back at me.
