WARNINGS. 1.4k words, giyuu x shinazugawa!reader, fluff

“it’s not like you to want to meet this late.”
“apologies, were you asleep?”
“i was actually tossing and turning in bed, so i’m glad you asked to meet. was there something you wanted to talk about?”
giyuu tomioka sighed at your question. yes, there was something gnawing at his mind. though, the man didn’t want to confess that the very thing causing him worry was you, who only seemed concerned for his well-being.
dreams are rare for giyuu, and that’s because when his mind conjures something in his sleep, it isn't always so happy. you appeared in his sleep this time, and that lovely dream of his quickly turned into a nightmare.
he remembered the ghostly feeling of holding your hand, and the next, you trying to bite his face off. you turned into a demon in his dream, and it was when he imagined himself taking his sword and decapitating your head that it turned into a nightmare.
a gust of wind suddenly blew, causing you to hug your figure. you were rubbing your arms when giyuu let out another breath and walked closer to you. without saying anything, he threw his haori over your shoulders. he stood less than an arm’s length away from you when the shine in your eyes caught his attention. he shifted his weight onto one foot.
“don’t die, y/n.”
you stared at him strangely. although giyuu’s words were quite straightforward, they only left you confused. did he send his crow all the way to you as a warning, and then come to your estate himself just to say those three words? if so, you wondered what prompted him to say something that could’ve waited until the next morning.
“is there something i should know?” you asked, itching for an answer. “are you… are you actually leaving the corps, giyuu-kun?”
ever since his participation in the final selection, giyuu never thought that he was worthy of being a demon slayer. you remembered the day he told you about his late friend sabito, whom he trained with until the final selection. it wasn’t too long ago, maybe a month since he told you. the young boy had saved plenty of the other slayers and not a single life was taken, except for his. the only one to die then was sabito.
even as one of the highest-ranking demon slayers, giyuu thought that sabito would’ve been a much better water hashira than him. if only he had lived, then maybe the man who stood before you would’ve been him and not the black-haired boy.
giyuu was plagued with survivor’s guilt, and you couldn’t help but relate. the thought of your younger siblings dying before you did was always a punch to your gut. giyuu didn’t know you felt the same as he did until then, and as sad as it was, it felt like it only brought the two of you closer.
“i really hope you rethink your decision,” you continued after his face grew slightly confused. “you’ve worked hard to become as strong as you are, and you leaving would be a huge loss to the corps.”
“do you really think that?”
“of course,” you nodded, sure. your ears grew warm as you turned your gaze to the stars, “i also know that if you left, i’d miss you every day. it won’t be the same without you.”
his heart skipped a beat at your reply. although you thought his words were a farewell, he only meant it as a warning. giyuu cared about you much more than he let on, and seeing you hurt in such a way, even if it was all just a nightmare, reminded him of such.
“i’d miss you too,” he admitted. “that’s why… i won’t leave the corps, not unless you come with me.”
your eyes widened. what did leaving the corps have to do with you? you thought about it for a moment before you spoke again, “why me?”
“when you’re by my side, things feel easier.”
“that’s- giyuu-kun, do you perhaps-“
“giyuu,” he corrected you. “please call me giyuu.”
you took his hand, “giyuu, please correct me if i’m mistaken, but do you… have feelings for me? if i’m reading into things wrong, don’t be afraid to tell me.”
ah, you actually hit the nail right on the head. although you didn’t notice it, the tips of giyuu’s ears turned pink as he held your fingers with your own. he didn’t say anything, but you didn’t have to be an expert in romance to know what he meant. your heart raced as you inched closer to him.
giyuu’s actions spoke louder than words. the first time you met him on the way to your first hashira meeting, you realized that fact quickly. you were navigating your way to the ubuyashiki estate when you became lost. giyuu had been walking some distance behind you for a few minutes when you stopped in your tracks.
‘which way should i go?’ you thought.
as you tried to decide which way to go, giyuu passed you. he didn’t spare you a glance as he continued ahead. since you noticed that his uniform had gold buttons like your own, you knew that he was also a hashira and that he was your best hope of finding the estate.
you followed giyuu, though you made sure to distance yourself to not make it obvious. but at every turn, after you ran to catch up and not lose him, he waited for you. after you turned the corner he had, the black-haired boy trudged ahead towards the next turn he’d wait for you at.
part of you wanted to believe it was just a coincidence that he happened to make a turn within your sight, but when you arrived at the meeting you quickly realized he was doing that on purpose.
“the master has been waiting,” gyomei, who was kneeling, commented when you and giyuu arrived. “it is unusual for you to be this late, tomioka.”
you then put the pieces together as you got down on one knee as well. you didn’t just happen to see him make every turn, giyuu had been waiting for you to follow. you felt yourself grow warm in embarrassment when you realized that he knew you were lost but pretended he didn’t.
it was difficult to tell because giyuu was no talker, but he was kind. since he helped you find your way, you felt obligated to thank him, and that was part of the reason why you started to talk to him in the first place, other than the fact you were curious about him and it would only be best to get along with someone you’d fight alongside.
it began with small talk when you passed each other, but quickly grew into longer conversations that took place even outside of work. all the time you began to spend with him developed your current feelings. your curiosity about the black-haired boy grew into genuine affection over the past 2 years, and you had completely fallen for him. and now, underneath the moon’s light, you realized he felt the same.
everything felt right when you moved your lips closer to his and connected them. giyuu cupped your cheek with his left hand and held your waist with his right before he leaned into you. your lips moved against each other with a nearly intoxicating hunger that would’ve consumed you whole if you didn’t pull away.
“giyuu,” you breathlessly whispered.
he pressed his forehead against yours and hummed, finally confessing, “i want to be yours, y/n. and if you allow me, i’d want for you to only be mine.”
his blue eyes met yours fiercely, and you didn’t bother resisting. you gave in immediately, nodding happily before pulling him in for another kiss. you threw your arms over his shoulders as he snaked his own arms around your waist, his haori falling to the ground without either of you noticing.
“this nearly feels like a dream,” you murmured.
“i hope not,” a faint smile adorned his lips. “when i dream of something, it doesn’t last very long. i don’t want this,” he intertwined his fingers with yours, “to end.”
“well then, we best not let it.” you fought back your own smile as you rested your head in the crook of his neck, “i don’t want this to end either. so, if you allow me, i’d love to be yours.”
giyuu’s lips then curled further as he stared at you in adoration, “yeah, i like the sound of that.”

SUMMARY: Somehow Giyuu's son has disappeared somewhere - chaos ensues because there's no way he's telling you he lost your child. A/N: I'm back and I'm beaming another Giyuu fic is in town! (<<anyone who catches the song reference wins a free request of anything they want to see Domestic!Giyuu and Co doing). I really enjoyed writing Zenitsu this way because he's just so 怪叔叔 coded (for non-Chinese, 怪叔叔 roughly translates to "weird uncle" but there's not really a word for it in English, so basically a creepy relative) WARNINGS: um, too many references to other anime if you catch them (name them all to get a free scenario) SUNNY'S TAGLIST: (comment if you wanna be added or removed) @abadonkori @therabbitthatpostthings @ezekieleen @giyuusluht @bisforbuse MASTERLIST/PREVIOUS FICS
There were about three times that Giyuu can recall directly lying to your face.
The first time was when you were still pregnant with Koji and got hit by cravings in the middle of the night. Your emotions had been skyrocketing, leaving you a sulky mess when Giyuu tried to reason with you that 3 a.m. really wasn't the time to eat daifuku. It was unhealthy, he said, perfectly poker-faced. It could not, you reasoned, be because he ate them all. It could not because you had (quite fiercely) told him not to eat it and Giyuu didn't even like that particular flavour of daifuku anyway. He didn't, which was why he stopped eating about halfway through…leaving about one or two for you.
So far you hadn't found that out. Don't worry, Giyuu still feels bad for gaslighting you into thinking there were only originally two left. Definitely not six.
The second time was about the seriousness of his injuries after a tougher than usual mission before you two married. Actually it should be more of a collection of little white lies, because Giyuu never wanted to worry you and did his best to play down his injuries every time. But this time he nearly had his legs sliced off and was suffering several more crushed bones - not something he could easily hide from you, so it was a little extreme but he wrote you a letter telling you not to come because the Demon's Blood Art was infectious.
So far you hadn't found that out either. Neither did Kocho, but he almost regretted it from her million “My, my, Tomioka, it seems like everybody's avoiding you lately” though he later found out it was because you genuinely believed him and told everybody.
And the third time was today. Funny enough the lie he felt the worst about. Felt so bad he nearly chickened out and made Tanjiro tell you…if he hadn't remembered the boy couldn't tell a lie to save his life.
It was just eight words. Eight words.
“Where's Koji by the way?”
“…he's outside playing with Tanjiro and his friends.”
Eight words that made Giyuu want to bang his head against a wall and meekly apologize to you for all eternity.
Because somehow he had managed to lose his only son.
He was going to lose his ability to remain poker-faced soon as you beamed brightly at him. “That sounds fun! But I thought you all were training?”
“We took a break.” Giyuu squeezed your hand and leant down to press a kiss to your forehead. “You're supposed to be asleep anyway. Get well soon.”
“Mhm. I'm not that tired.” You roll your eyes. “Can you bring in Koji later?”
“…sure…”
He hoped he didn't look too obvious.
***
Perhaps a little backtracking would be helpful. You had recently received severe blood loss from the last mission you were sent on that landed you a stay at the Butterfly Mansion. It wasn't too bad as you got to spend a little more time with Giyuu and your new baby boy but finally Shinobu had shooed (for such a short woman she could really push people around with great force…) them both out citing you needed rest “without you making goo-goo eyes at her all the time, Tomioka. You must be such a bad influence on your child.”
To which he responded by blankly staring at her. “I don't think I'm a bad influence…”
“If you'd like to think so, Tomioka. Now scram.”
At any rate he had brought Koji out with him to training with the Kamaboko Squad as they were known. He had left the baby on a blanket on the engawa with various toys littered around to keep his attention occupied; Koji hadn't quite mastered the art of walking yet, so Giyuu was reasonably confident he would be alright, evidenced by the quick checks Giyuu would take in between swinging a sword with the boys.
Swinging a sword, honestly, would be lying as well. Giyuu couldn't fault them for wanting to play with Koji - even though for whatever reason Inosuke kept trying to give him acorns and called him every other variation of his name…ranging from “Genji”, “Koto” and “Muji”.
(The closest he got was calling him Toji, but Giyuu was still confused as to why he also added a “Fushiguro” at the end…)
“Look! The tiny Ban Ban Haori took my gift, Gonpachiro! AHAHAHAHA, YOU CAN BE MY MINION, DENJI!”
Giyuu yanked the grass blades and said acorn away from Koji’s drooling mouth. “You're not supposed to be feeding him that…spit it out, Koji, no, don't swallow!”
Not that Inosuke was listening. He was dumping even more acorns onto the ground, in fact. Thankfully Giyuu's mini-me was fancying chewing on his dad's finger a little more.
The yellow haired one wasn't much better. Zenitsu kept trying to befriend Koji…who did not want to befriend him. Whether it was because of Zenitsu’s expressions or questionable decibel volume or him calling himself “Uncle Zenitsu”, no matter how many times said slayer fawned over the baby or tried to play with him Koji’s lip would quiver, his eyes would tear up and inevitably the wailing would start.
So obviously Giyuu solved the problem by “politely” telling Zenitsu to go away.
(Later on you wouldn't understand why Zenitsu kept glowering at your husband; Giyuu would defend himself, deadpan as he said Koji did not like him therefore he should get out of his sight.)
At least someone in the group has a brain cell and experience with little kids. Of them all Giyuu trusted Tanjiro the most with his child. Koji seemed to adore the red haired boy, wanting to burrow into his lap all the time and curiously tugging at his hanafuda earrings. Hardly surprising, seeing as Tanjiro was more than happy to indulge in his uppies and not attempt to throw him in the air like Inosuke or poke him a little too harder like Zenitsu. He even put on a little puppet show for him with the scattered plushies.
Koji seemed to adore Tanjiro a little too much, actually. Giyuu decided to make them all go back to training after Koji rejected his hold for Tanjiro’s uppies.
But they ended up spending more time getting distracted over petty arguments rather than training.
The boar-head was cackling in that weird maniacal way of his. “Manjiro and Monitsu will never ever land a hit on me!!! I'm the King of the Mountains, no one will ever best me!”
Giyuu closed his eyes and sighed quietly before smacking the wooden sword upside on Inosuke's head. But-
“HUH? WHAT'D YOU SAY ABOUT ME?! IT'S NOT FAIR, YOU KNOW, YOU'RE USING TWO SWORDS! I'M GOING TO BEAT YOU UP-”
“Inosuke, again, my name is Tanjiro-”
“WHAT, TSUKISHIRO?!”
“COME HERE! I'M GOING TO KICK YOUR BUTT!”
“Zenitsu! Stop trying to eat Inosuke's head!”
“BWAHAHA! HE COULD NEVER! THE TINY ONE BITES HARDER THAN HIM!”
Too late. Sigh again.
“You're not even one yet and you're the sanest here, it seems.” Giyuu retreated to let them fight it out (it was the third time already), seating himself next to Koji, who cooed and tried to crawl onto his lap, dropping his plushy.
“Why did I even agree to this again?” Probably because Tanjiro asked - he really was going soft.
“Bleh.”
Giyuu nodded. “You get it.”
***
Tanjiro just about jumped Giyuu when he exited the room you were in, closing the door with a twitching eye (he really can’t believe he managed to lie to you), more than ready to help his friend and mentor track down the missing child by making Giyuu go over everything again and again. “So are you SURE that was the last time you saw Koji then?”
“AHAHAHAH! I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU MANAGED TO LOSE YOUR SPAWN!” The laughter dies down as it fully hits Inosuke. “…wait, you lost Ojiro?”
“OH NO! TOMIOKA’S GOING TO GET MURDERED BY HIS WIFE!”
“I-” Giyuu short circuited. “You’re right, Agatsuma. (y/n)’s going to have my head on a platter.
“HOW CAN YOU BE SUCH A-”
“Calm down, everyone! Koji couldn’t have gotten far, he can’t walk without stumbling and he crawls most of the time, right? And since we already checked outside Koji must be inside the Butterfly Mansion!” Tanjiro patted Giyuu’s shoulder. “We’ll find him, Giyuu-san!”
“I BET I’LL BE THE FIRST TO FIND HIM!” Inosuke hollered before…leaping onto the wall and scuttling off down the hallway. “YOU’RE ALL LOSERS TO THE KING OF THE MOUNTAINS! I SHALL FIND MY MINION!”
At this point Giyuu couldn’t even be surprised. “I’m more worried about if he’s fallen down or hiding somewhere or got stuck some place or something worse.”
“It’s alright! We can ask Ms. Aoi and the Butterfly Girls to help or if they’ve seen Koji!”
“There’s no way he could’ve run off by himself anyway.”
***
“No, sorry, I don’t think any baby came into the kitchen, Tomioka-san.”
Giyuu’s shoulder slumped. “I see.”
“I’m sure you’ll find him soon, Tomioka-san, Tanjiro, Zenitsu!” The three girls that were always around piped up. “We’ll keep an eye out for him though!”
“Aw, that’s so cute of you guys!”
Giyuu let Zenitsu bask in the three girl’s praises for being so kind to help the Water Pillar look for his son and turned back to Tanjiro and Aoi, who was tapping a spoon against the table thoughtfully. “There’re lots of rooms where he could’ve hidden. Have you checked?”
“Yeah, we have, but there’s no sign of him anywhere,” Tanjiro sheepishly answered.
“How did he even disappear?”
He didn’t know it but the despairing look on his face was rather pitiful. “I don’t know. I turned around to check on him and he just wasn’t there.”
“You didn’t hear him crawl off?”
“No.”
Tanjiro suddenly interrupted. “Oh hey, Aoi! Are you making mochi now?”
“Um…yes?”
“Giyuu-san! Didn’t you say Koji likes the smell of them? Maybe he’ll come out if he smells some!”
“What kinda idea is that?” Zenitsu scoffed, before remembering every other method had failed. He deflated. “Alright, it might work.”
The girls oohed and aahed. “We’ll help!”
“That’s actually a good idea, Tanjiro. You can have some, here, and good luck! I hope you guys find him!”
Privately Giyuu thought they were treating Koji like he was a dog and not actually, you know, a human BABY perhaps…but if it worked, it worked, so he let himself be roped into the plan.
***
It did not work.
Despite the odds at this point Giyuu was convinced a demon had kidnapped his baby. Every room in the house had been investigated. All of them had literally gotten on their hands and feet, calling out and cooing out Koji’s name. Inosuke had even dropped down from the ceiling to give them all a heart attack and announce that he could not sense “Tiny Todoroki” anywhere.
Giyuu was ready to pull out his ponytail. Where on earth could his son possibly even go? Kocho’s Estate wasn’t even that large! He hadn’t even heard so much as baby babble or Koji’s crying. In fact it might be the Kamaboko Squad who would be crying if Kocho ever discovered the mess they made turning everything inside out and upside down trying to figure out where a baby could’ve crawled off into and potentially gotten stuck in. What on earth had he done to deserve this horrible state of affairs?
What had he done to Koji that would make the baby want to vanish into thin air?
Well, whatever it was, he was terribly apologetic about it.
He didn’t know it but his head was hung in repentance as Giyuu approached the door to your room. The Kamaboko Squad and the three Butterfly Girls were behind him in awkward, contrite silence. It takes a village to raise a child, maybe, but apparently it takes waaay beyond a village to FIND a child. Giyuu felt a little bad they all got stuck trying to fix his mistake, so if any backlash happened from your end - though he doubted it - he’d do his best to take the most of it.
“It’s not really your fault Koji ran off, Giyuu-san,” Tanjiro tried to say reassuringly.
“It absolutely is. I should’ve checked on him more,” Giyuu replied gloomily and on that depressing note he entered you room.
“Yuu!” You tossed aside your book and reached out your arms. He obliged, even in the painful angle he had to sit in to lie his head against your chest, but you stroking his hair was enough to make up for it. “I’m so bored here, can’t you convince Shinobu I’m fine already?”
“You nearly fell down the stairs when you felt dizzy yesterday-”
“No, I nearly fell down because the floor was wet! I’m fine, I swear!” You huff and fell back against the pillows, scratching away at Giyuu’s scalp. “Anyways, where’s Koji? I wanna see my baby.”
“Our baby.”
“Right, sorry, Yuu. Where is he?”
Darn. Giyuu had hoped you would be distracted a little longer - for something, anything, maybe a miracle to happen - before he would have to reveal the truth to you.
He groaned loudly and face planted into your blanket-covered stomach. “(y/n), lovely, please don’t be mad at me. I did my best to-”
“Try and give Koji a bath but he did such a terrible job, (y/n) dear, that I had to take over.”
Alright, Giyuu knows he was praying for something to save him, but of all things - KOCHO?!
The Insect Pillar’s smile widened viciously at the sight of Giyuu’s shocked face as she glided to your bedside, mirroring those of the Kamaboko Squad and Butterfly Girls’ outside. A freshly showered Koji, with his puffy baby hair stuck to his forehead from water, giggled in Shinobu’s arms, kicking and squealing.
“Hi, baby! Did you miss mama? Mama missed you, y’know, mhm, I know.” You took Koji into your own hold, blowing raspberries onto his stomach. “Did Yuu do a good job of taking care of you? I think so too, heh.”
I think not, Shinobu’s eyes wickedly gleamed.
I think not too…Giyuu blinked back. While you were distracted he quickly got to his feet and crossed over to the other side to pull Shinobu aside.
“Thank you.”
“That, Tomioka, was the stiffest thanks anyone has ever given me.” Shinobu covered her chuckles with an airy hand. “No need, but try not to make me cover for you again or lose your son?”
“I - I will, but where did you even find him?”
“Well, well, Tomioka, I thought you all were done for training and went outside, but instead I found him crawling off the engawa and rolling in the mud, so I had to bring him in and give him a bath. Then I saw you all running around trying to find him and figured it must’ve looked like he just disappeared to you all when he was playing in the puddle.”
Giyuu glanced back at you and Koji and quietly vowed to never lose any of you, no matter the circumstances, whether it be to demons or simply because you had wandered off due to boredom. If missing you both for just a few hours had done such a number on him, he never wanted to find out what happens if…
“…I guess I owe you one now, Kocho,” Giyuu acknowledged.
“You can start by cleaning up the mess you made of my house, Tomioka.”
***
BONUS:
You actually nearly found out about Koji’s brief disappearance earlier when a boar leapt down from the ceiling and nearly gave you a heart attack.
“AHAHAHAHA! THE KING OF THE MOUNTAINS IS BACK!”
Instinctively you jolted back and almost screamed loud enough to wake the dead if you hadn’t recognized the intruder. “Inosuke?! What - what are you - what were you doing up there?!”
The boy in question grunted, head swiveling around. “…this isn’t the right room.”
“What? What right room?”
“Gotta go, gotta look for Toru Oikawa!”
“Who?!”

"what is that?"
giyuus tone is filled with slight confusion as he stares at the jewellery in your hand. eyebrows furrowing as you smile awkwardly.
"they're.. bracelets." you admit, feeling suddenly sheepish. you had been walking around the market yesterday, and just so happened to come across a stall that was selling these trinkets for a generous price.
"and they're matching. so one for you, and one for me!" you shove one of the bracelets into his hand, letting out a nervous laugh as you try to read his nonchalant expression.
"matching..?" he murmurs, and you panic. oh no, did he not like the sudden gift? ah, maybe they were too cheap for his liking..
now that you think about it, giyuu was never really much of a jewellery person anyway. oh god, how stupid were you? he definitely hates it. maybe you should just say it was a joke— or maybe snatch it and run off?
"sorry, its a little tacky isn't it?—"
"I love it."
you blink, did you hear him right? you blink again, glancing to meet the males expression. he's staring down at the trinket in his palm, a subtle smile tugging on his lips as his ears flush a light pink.
"eh? really?" you chuckle clumsily, rubbing the back of your neck. "you don't have to pretend, you know. it's fine if you don't-"
"no, I'm not pretending." he says sternly, eyes darting up to meet yours. his gaze causes your body to suddenly stiffen, and you let out a quiet gulp.
"I like it, I really do." he reassures, and it's your turn to blush. lips pressing together as you watch him wrap the brass material around his wrist. it's adorned with a few charms, mostly stars and beads. his fingers fumble with a specific charm, the one with his initial embedded.
"thank you." he whispers quietly, turning his head to the side whilst covering the lower part of his face with the back of his hand. he seemed.. somewhat flustered?
"thank you, I'll be sure to cherish it." he repeats, this time with a nod. "..and I won't take it off."
"wait, wait. you don't have to do that!"
he ends up going 2 weeks without taking the bracelet off, till you tell him that it'll damage the jewellery. he takes it off every night before going to sleep, and keeps it in a safe place for tomorrow.

Cherry Blossom Naps 🌸 Tomioka Giyū x Reader
Pairing: Tomioka Giyū x Reader (can be read as any gender, no pronouns used) Genre: fluff Word Count: 1 626 Summary: after a a night of fighting demons, you and Tomioka find shelter
Sakura Festival Masterlist - Masterlist
Tumblr media
Freezing cold rain dripped into your face, feeling like a thousand needles pricking your skin and blurring your vision. Your clothes were drenched, not just from the cold spring rain, but also sweat from the battle you had fought in the night. Now, through thick covers of rain heavy clouds, the sky began brightening, announcing the sunrise to not be long away.
"Over here!"
Your companion's voice carried over the drumming rain, and lifting your gaze, you found Tomioka heading straight to what looked like an abandoned shed. Well, less a shed than a roof held up by four wooden beams, but considering it was only raining and not storming, it should be enough for now. A sigh of relief brushed past your lips at the prospect of shelter, and quickly you hurried after the fellow demon slayer.
By the time you stepped underneath the roof, he had already thrown off his haori and crouched down beside an old fireplace in the middle of the area.
"The wood's dry," he mumbled, his voice filled with silent surprise. Indeed, the shelter seemed in surprisingly good shape. The roof wasn’t leaking and a stack of wood close to the fireplace seemed old but completely untouched by the weather.
Walking past the fireplace, you glanced out from underneath the roof at the other side. Before you opened a small garden, a stretch of grass, sprinkled with blooming cherry trees. Their blossoms seemed to glow in the twilight of the approaching morning, the rain glittering on their leaves like stars.
"What's wrong?" Tomioka had noticed you freezing at the edge of the small room, and alarmed, he quickly came up behind you, his hand already on the handle of his katana.
"It's beautiful," you breathed, momentarily even forgetting how cold you were.
Tomioka only hummed in agreement before turning back around, slightly annoyed to have been disturbed by such an unimportant thing as trees.
"Let's get a fire going," he mumbled instead, leaving you standing. You watched the rain tear at the petals another few moments before you pulled away from the sight and helped Tomioka with the fire.
It didn’t take you long to get the fire to a good size, not so big as that it would eat up unnecessarily big amounts of wood, but still big enough to warm you up and dry your haoris, which you had hung up on long sticks by the fire.
You had sat down a while ago, a safe distance away from Tomioka, your eyes fixed on the cherry trees in the rain, while you let your mind wander. It had not been the first time that you had been sent out on a mission with him, but somehow it felt as if your relationship was shifting with each time you met. It would have been a lie to claim you were not curious about the quiet Demon Slayer… although curious might be a strange word to use. Interested in him? Maybe… attracted even?
You shook your head slightly, watching as the pouring rain turned into a slight drizzle. It was foolish to think about him this way. Not only because he was a demon slayer and he faced death in the form of sharp demon teeth and long claws each night. Tomioka was one of the most skilled demon slayers you knew. You didn’t doubt he would survive for a long time. It was more because, well, because he was Tomioka. You had never met anyone else who was as quiet and grumpy as him. Holding conversations with him was hard since he hardly talked more than one or two sentences in one go. But the few times when he had, your conversations had stretched several hours, making you admire the young man even more than before. While his quietness caused other demon slayers to make fun of him and even mock him, you had been lucky to have gotten more insight into his character by now, understanding that inside he was angry and sad at and about the world. You wished you could help him, make him feel better somehow, but unless he let you in, which he hardly ever did, there was only so much you could do. And if he didn’t want to let you in, how was there ever to be a relationship other than that of work colleagues between you?
A tickling at the side of your face alarmed you to the fact that someone – Tomioka – was staring at you. Resisting the urge to turn to him, you kept your eyes focused on the trees. The clouds were still not finished with the downpour, although they had reduced it to a fine spray of morning rain, and a soft breeze had picked up, breaking them apart so the first beams of light could flicker through. It bounced off the rain drops on the pink petals of the cherry blossoms, looking like a thousand crystals glimmering in the light. You smiled at the sight, continuing to ignore Tomioka’s insistent staring. If each night fighting gruesome demons could end in a peaceful scenery like the one before you now… you certainly wouldn’t complain.
The fire flickered a little, and at your side Tomioka moved to grab his haori before he added more wood to the fire, making it lick up higher into the air as you continued watching the garden. The spray of rain continued, but the ground seemed to warm up, as soft white fog began lifting off the grass blades. It wasn’t hard to imagine a wood god, or a tree spirit to walk through the thin fog now, their paws glimmering with raindrops but still leaving no traces in the grass.
You startled as suddenly something touched your shoulder. Irritated you looked up to find Tomioka had grabbed your sleeve softly between his thumb and index finger. When your eyes met his ocean blue ones, he gently tucked at the fabric, making you furrow your brows. It was careful motion, as he tucked again, no force put into it, rather an invitation. Following it, you scooted a little closer to him, and closer again, when he kept tucking, until you were sitting side by side with him, close enough for your legs to touch.
Wordlessly he wrapped his haori first over your shoulders, then over his, the fabric barely big enough for both of you to fit. It had already dried next to the fire and only when you had sat for a few minutes, uncertain what to make of that sudden display of intimacy, you realized how cold you had gotten from the rain, and how nice the haori warmed you. But what was even warmer than the Haori, was Tomioka by your side. He felt almost like a living furnace as he sat still, almost stiffly by your side. You wanted to look over to him, wanted to see his expression, but something stopped you. Instead, you looked out over the garden again, trying to commit the sight of the beautiful blooming trees to your memory.
You were not sure when it had happened, but you startled when you felt your head lull to the side. Had you dozed off? Taking a deep breath, you were trying to sit up straight again, when suddenly Tomioka reached his hand up, gently guiding your head to rest against his shoulder, where you almost would have rested it before waking up again.
“You need to rest,” he whispered, his voice sounding deep and soothing from where it rumbled in his chest. “Sleep a little.”
You let him pull your head against his shoulder, feeling the stubborn hair of his tickle your face, which refused to be bound back by his hairband. Reaching up you brushed it aside enough to not be disturbed by it anymore before closing your eyes again. You had always struggled falling asleep in the company of other slayers, but something about Tomioka made it almost too easy to doze off. Maybe because you trusted him. You had almost fallen asleep again when a sudden thought stirred you back awake.
“Tomioka?”
He hummed to signal you that he was listening.
“Why are you doing this?”
He was quiet for a moment, hesitating to answer as if he were scared to get reprimanded, but then he said: “Because I’m not good with words. And I don’t know how else to show I care about you.”
Not opening your eyes, you furrowed your brows. “Why would you care about me?”
“’cause I like you. I hope that’s okay.”
His words didn’t fully process in your sleepy mind. Or maybe they did, they just didn’t trigger the same excited reaction they would have triggered had you been fully awake.
“Hm,” you hummed in response, “I like you too.”
And before Giyū could sort his thoughts out to answer to that sudden confession, your breaths were evening out and you had fallen asleep.
Giyū carefully turned his head, stealing a glance at your face and tucked his haori in place over your shoulders before he carefully rested his cheek against your hair. So you liked him too, huh? It felt like this was the first good news in a long time. It also meant you’d have to talk about this in more detail as soon as both of you were awake enough to do so. Maybe he’d finally find a way to convey his feelings to you then, like he had wanted to do for so long already. Giyū suppressed a yawn, and smiled to himself, taking a last glance at the cherry blossoms in the garden before he too closed his eyes and fell asleep to the feeling of you safely resting on his shoulder.

------------Complete!------------
The wisp of air that passed along with leaves, the light of the sun that filled in the empty dark alleys, and the breeze of cold seawater in this early morning.
It were all something Giyuu liked.
It were all something that atleast gave him some reason to still live, to still continue with this living torture, to still continue breathing amidst all the crisis and losses he had dealt with. Even now, he is still fighting against the very loss he hated most, he is still battling the guilt that flowed through him every, single, second.
Giyuu decided to jump down from the tree, and reveal himself to the pure nature around him. It had relieved him and freed him from all the stress, constantly and continuously strolling around the open park in his free time.
Although, he was here many times, more so, every day, he had seen an unfamiliar face today.
One that wore a smiley, happy-go-lucky expression, one that wore a long-sleeved haori with a white shirt inside, and long baggy pants. Needless to say, they were a foreign sight to him, but they looked as if like they were long close with the townspeople.
But Giyuu realized, that they weren’t just a random stranger, they were behind a stand, perhaps the one selling things that looked exquisite and eye-catchy enough that had caught the townspeople’s attention.
When the crowd slowly died out, Giyuu decided to approach you and see what were the things you were selling, only to see that your stand was freshly cleaned.
Awkwardness, he slowly retreated back, not wanting to catch your attention or bother you. But in all unfortunates, you had heard him, even the faintest sound he could ever produce.
“Ah! Mister! Are you here to buy my products?” Cheerly, you asked the man who looked at you like he’s seen a ghost.
“...” Slowly, he nodded, but you only chuckled, “okay! Make sure you’ll be here tomorrow once the sun rises, before I run out of stocks again!” You waved him goodbye then, as you shouldered your heavy bag on your back, and walked away.
Before Giyuu could even talk, you were already out of his sight. But he was wondering why, why did he feel a rush of excitement or a rush of impatience for tomorrow to come. It was just the same after all, wasn’t it? He’d have missions to accomplish, have demons to kill, and have another day to live on whilst carrying so many burdens on his shoulders.
He walked away too, feeling the cold breeze hit his face, as he slowly closed his eyes, wanting to feel relief and relaxed amongst them. But then again, he felt like something was missing. Even the things he liked, the refreshing wind, the illuminating sunlight, and the sea breeze are all in front and around him, he still felt as if he was not complete, nor enough yet.
~~~~~
June 14, XXXX.
Once again, the refreshing winds, the illuminating sunlight, and the sea breeze is present, but he still felt the same, feeling that something was missing.
He looked around, looking at his surroundings, as people do their own whatevers, a group of elderly gossiping in the background, merchants calling customers to their stalls, couples relaxing, families enjoying, and... children running around.
Perhaps it was a mere coincidence that he had remembered something, something that gave him quite the déjà vu. But he was sure the two children running around were like him and Sabito.
The relaxing and relieving feeling he once felt has now faded, soon replaced by a pang of hurt and grief.
Sabito was more than a friend to him, he was like a brother, or a guardian angel to Giyuu. Yet, knowing that Sabito had risked his life just to save him... is just utterly bitter for him. He now has to live with that guilt, bringing it along with him even in his deathbed.
Times like this, Giyuu had always asked if he was worth saving. The answer he’d always reply? No. He does not think he is worth saving, nor worth all the risk. He does not even know where to lead his life anymore, even. All he knows is that he must continue living on for the sake of the sacrifice of his one and only bestfriend.
The soft and gentle whisper of the winds, the good morning of the beautiful, shining sun rays, and the dazzling breeze of the seawater seemed to not comfort him anymore. He wants to let it all out, those tears, emotions, feelings, that he has been keeping hidden since, he wants it all gone.
The guilt was continuously welling up within him, the agony and grief as he remembered the brave sacrifice of his best friend again and again.
But, for whatever surprise that was, someone tapped on his shoulder, that just so happens to be you.
“Mister? Oh! It's you!” Enthusiasm laced your voice, as you greeted him joyfully with a smile of yours brighter than that of the sun.
“...” Giyuu only stared at you as he saw you bringing loads and loads of sacks, perhaps the things you’re selling today.
Giyuu stepped aside as he let you go to your designated spot, yet, for some reason, he had the urge to follow you.
“What were you thinking of, mister? — If you don’t mind me asking, ehe.” Sheepishly, you chuckled and smiled, as you placed down the sacks you dragged all the way here.
“...Thoughts.” He replied nonchalantly, but his inner mind has been deep in thoughts. Of course he wouldn’t tell you about Sabito.
“Haha, of course they are thoughts! But what kind of thoughts?” Tilting your head a little as you continued setting your stand for the day.
“...What are you selling?” Obviously, he changed the topic. But you paid it no mind, and answered his question, “oh! I sell these potions, ancient and historical scrolls, and these rope-like ornaments to bring good luck to you demon slayers!” You had quite the variety to show, especially when all these were really foreign to him.
“Hmm... good luck, you say?” But amongst all those, one particular thing caught his eye, which was the rope-like ornament, specifically color white and blue.
“How much is this?” He had already kept the rope within his pockets, “that would be ¥274.24!” A change of coins happened, the clinking of it was a nice sound to your ears.
He stood there awkwardly, as he didn’t know what to say now.
“Mister... did you know those kids over there?” you pointed at the children that were running around, that made Giyuu remember of Sabito. Shaking his head no, you simply nodded, “well, let me tell you. They were actually three best of friends. But the other one died due to the incurable disease, cancer. When I saw the both of them sitting on the sides the other day, I asked them, and they told me what happened. I felt sad and pity for them, especially to the deceased child. But did you know what the other kid said? He said it was okay, because his friend was now in heaven. But of course, he couldn’t keep his tears from falling out, and ended up wetting my haori with snot. It just... never fails to amaze me how a child’s mind could think of something so positive like that, even in the midst of darkness. Hehe..” You giggled sheepishly, as you just noticed how Giyuu attentively listened, and that his quiet-nonchalant-chill-cool guy facade slowly broke little by little, as you saw his emotions right through his eyes.
Giyuu departed almost immediately, not even bidding you goodbye. But you understood well enough, that Giyuu was like that of a child, too.
He too, was like the child, keeping a facade to keep the sadness from flowing out, but they will always fail to hide their longing.
Least to say, Giyuu thought well about it. He sat on the sides, and tied the rope on the scabbard of his sword. He thought too, if Sabito was happy and well off in heaven, or if that truly exists, or if heaven was just a mere child’s imagination.
He was still well off in the grieving stage, even after all these years, he could never accept the loss he had suffered. He wished then, right at that moment, that he was still a child and never grew up, so that he could still be with Sabito, and so that he could never feel this way again.
~~~~~
Days passed, until Giyuu showed up again. It took him three days to complete the mission Oyakata-sama gave him, which was the complete reason why he couldn’t show up. But now that he’s here, and you’re here, things are back to normal.
“Hello. I’d like to purchase this.” Giyuu presented a mini, thin, book in front of you, one of your bestselling and expensive ones.
“Ah...! Mr. Tomioka, welcome back. Yes, let me just..” as an exchange of coins happened, Giyuu never failed to look at you, and none other. His eyes were placed on you as you counted the coins slowly and properly, as his eyes landed on one particular thing. The rope-like ornament that he bought a few days back; swinging by your hips. He looked at his, too, and realized that the colors of the ornaments matched. You, too, had white and blue as your color of the rope-like ornament.
You traced where his eyes landed, and chuckled; “would you like to buy again?” It took Giyuu aback, but he eagerly shook his head no. “Are they your favorite color?” Suddenly, he asked out of pure curiosity; “yes! they complement each other so well — and blue is the most mesmerizing color I have ever seen! — just like your eyes.” gently, you smiled at him that made his heart melt. No one after Sabito had ever smiled at him like that. And that made him all the more happy.
~~~~~
Days, weeks, months, and almost a year had passed as your friendship grew.
And you never fail to see how his eyes would darken, how he’d grow silent, and how he’ll try to change the topic whenever he sees children having fun, or if you talk about them.
It had made you sad about his well-being, yet, he had rejected almost all of your comforting offers, because both you and him know that the longing will not fade ‘till thousands of years to come by.
“Y/n! Y/n!” A child-like voice called out, as you saw Tomoko, one of the children that you and Giyuu both befriended, and the same child that reminded him of his bond with Sabito.
It took you aback, really. You’ve never seen Tomoko that excited and happy ever since his friend’s passing. Immediately, his arms wrapped around your hips, almost making you stumble back, “look! Look! I found Aruno’s diary!” The excitement was obvious in Tomoko’s eyes as he eagerly flipped the pages of his deceased friend’s diary.
Hastily, he pulled your hand and forced you to sit down by the gathers, as Giyuu followed along. “Y/n! Can you read this to me, please? I can’t really understand his handwriting..” He flipped a few pages forth, and tapped on the page that contained quite a lot for a diary.
June 18, 10XX I met two friends, Tomoko and Naroi! They were really kind, and I had a great time with them! We played the whole afternoon, and went home at night! My mom called me home though, so I was a little sad. That night, I really couldn’t sleep. It was the first time I had friends after a long time! I was really excited for the next day that I couldn’t wait! I ended up sneaking out and writing this diary, as I count how many stars there are in the sky. I managed to count just 78 — but I immediately lost track when I felt something behind me! But it was just my friend Patrick — our neighbor’s cat! It was soo fun playing with Patrick, but when he scratched me, I got scared and didn’t go near him. But now that he’s here, maybe I should forgive him, right? I love you too Patrick! Well then, going back, Patrick is now laying on my lap, I lost count of the stars, but whatever! There will still be tomorrow night and next times to count the stars!
October 23, 10XX It’s been a long time since I wrote here, hehe. Well, honestly, I got an illness called cancer. I didn’t know what it was, but when mom explained it to me, I was so scared. She told me not to tell Tomoko and Naroi, but I feel soo bad for hiding it from them. I mean, friends should know and share everything, right? We promised no secrets! But mom said that it was for the better and I believe her!
November 1, 10XX Today, just a while ago, I saw mom crying. I didn’t know why, but she explained it to dad, but I can’t hear her. She was mumbling this and that, but I cried too, I didn’t want my mom sad.
November 10, 10XX I’m scared and I can’t stop crying. Mom said we need to go somewhere, but this place doesn’t look fun at all... I see people laying down in beds, with bandages and blood. It’s scary, but my mom said it’d be alright after a few days...
November 30, 10XX Mom lied... it wasn’t just a few days, I’ve been here for weeks and I’ve turned bald, now. What about my friends? What if Tomoko and Naroi laugh at me? But mom said true friends will accept me for who I am! My hair also was slowly falling off, so they decided to cut it.. I’m really scared.. I don’t look like how I used to be..
December 12, 10XX I met my friends again, but Tomoko and Naroi weren’t all that excited.. are they mad at me? For not showing up many months? They look at me so scarily, like they feel sad for me.. but I don’t want that.. I’m strong, aren’t I? Mom said so..
December 18, 10XX My eyes are heavy, like I just wanna sleep forever.. I can’t really breathe right, I feel like there’s a booger stuck in my nose, a huge one.. I think I’m growing weak, I just wanna rest forever, lay in bed even if this is not as comfy as the one at home.. I hate seeing my mom cry.. and I miss Tomoko and Naroi..
“...waah..” Tomoko’s eyes spilled his tears, as his sobs were getting louder and louder.
“...waaaaaaahh!! I-I hic- I didn‘t know Aruno- wah- had to go through all- hic- t-that...!!” Tomoko tried to wipe his tears, but only served useless as it only multiplied. After all, what could be more heartbreakening if not for a child whom only wished for a simple life?
“T-Tomoko...!” Tomoko ran away, perhaps trying to hide the tears uselessly, trying to save his tough facade. But, it was already broken from the moment those words were written in that diary. And same went to the man beside you, his tough facade too, slowly fading away.
“G-Giyuu.. a-are you crying?” You asked nervously, you never planned any of this to happen.
“I wonder... if Sabito thought the same.” He didn’t even try to hide his tears, he let it all flow out, as he knew; trying to hide his tears would never take away his pain and guilt. He only stared at the now dark sky, looking up at the moon that served as the light in the dark night.
“This Sabito... was he... like Aruno?” You knew you had this coming, but you didn’t expect Giyuu would break over a child’s diary, despite him keeping up the good work of hiding his feelings away.
“No. He killed himself for me. I should’ve... been the one in his place right now, if I wasn’t so cowardly.” This time, he looked down, as he relived that day, the day that he lost his one and only bestfriend.
“Wha-! D-Don’t say that, Giyuu-kun! I’m sure he did that for the better!”
“Yet he died for the worst.”
“Did he... sacrifice himself?”
“He wanted to protect all of us, and charged on straight to the demons. I wanted to fight by his side, but it was too late. And I could... only watch.” He chuckled at the last sentence, remembering his petty choices and past patheticness.
“I’m sure he did that with no regrets, Giyuu.. I’m sure that was what he wanted, to keep all of you safe and sound.”
“Yet it was in an exchange for his life!”
“Death is inevitable!”
“He was only thirteen!” You gasped. You never thought children would be fighting demons so early. So it was... what? Few? Many? Years ago and yet he still has kept it within him?
“But... he sacrificed himself for all of you, Giyuu.. you can’t keep blaming yourself, it was his choice..”
“He had no choice! He was the only one who could fight amongst all of us! Stronger than I am!”
“Exactly! And that’s why he protected the weak!”
“Yet even the weakest can do something! I could’ve been the one to charge on straight to the demon, but no — it was him instead!” His sobs were getting out of control, as he looked at you with eyes just like Tomoko’s.
“But you couldn’t fight! If you truly wanted to switch places, then you wouldn’t be here now, you wouldn’t be-”
“Then I wish I died instead of him!” Silence filled the air as your bicker had stopped. You scooched closer to him, and pat his back, slowly.
“He did that for you to live a better life, Giyuu.. even if you hate him with all your life for doing that, it wouldn’t change the fact that he wanted nothing more but for you to succeed.”
“You can’t make me think otherwise, Y/n.” This was a version of Giyuu that you hadn’t known until today. It was as if he was not the Giyuu you once knew, it’s as if he turned into one that is so resentful, and angry.
“...So what? Are you just gonna let his sacrifice go to waste, as if it was nothing, knowing that the main purpose of it all was because he wanted you to live on to this day!? Is it so wrong for you to atleast give credit to yourself? Correct me if I’m wrong — but I know for a fact that he wanted you to live on to this day — every single day, so that you could help those in need, protect those who’re weak, and continue on his last, and final wish!”
“...” Giyuu only said nothing, nor does he even have anything to retort back. You were right, but it doesn’t make his guilt fade. It didn’t help at all, that he was only a mere bystander on Sabito’s fight, not his bestfriend.
“Sabito... would really like for you to continue on living, despite the hardships and adversities you’ve gone through... after all, wasn’t he the sole inspiration you had all this time? To reach the highest, and kill all those demons.. but you don’t have to live your life repeating those things...! There are so many wonders and beauty of this world that you have yet to discover... as a merchant, I’ve travelled from different villages, cities, districts, until I’ve reached here...! Please, don’t let Sabito’s sacrifice go in vain. I’m sure he had no second thoughts, nor regrets — because he only wanted you to live your life and experience every single thing! The guilt may not wash away — but I’m sure, once you see my point, you wouldn’t have to live with that anymore because Sabito doesn’t even blame you. He did that, and he knew his choice — because he wanted you to reach this day, and tomorrow.” A string in his heart had been pulled, he felt like he was suffocated as your hands hovered over his. “So please... don’t give up... atleast for me...”
He really didn’t know what Sabito wanted back at that moment. But if Sabito really has any regrets, then why didn’t he look back in hesitation, right before he charged on to the demon?
“Giyuu-kun, tomorrow, let’s meet here again, and let’s go to a different place, so that by the day our time has come, we will leave no regrets.”
★ • ° ` — BONUS:
The days has passed, and Giyuu had left the Demon Slayer Corps. Truth be told, he really didn’t want to leave, as half of his life and memories had been imprinted there, but he wanted to find the meaning of his life, just as you told him.
“Giyuu-kun! Over there! I see a starfish!” You pointed across the shore and ran over to the starfish, and decide to poke it. A giggle left your mouth as Giyuu picked it up and put it on top of your head.
“Oh you think you‘re so funny, huh!?” Immediately, you splashed seawater at him, and his laughter echoed the whole beach.
It was the first time he had let out a hearty laugh, and definitely not the last, because you’re there, his new bestfriend.
Baby Blues
Giyū Tomioka x afab!Reader
Word Count: 1,2k
Ao3
Warning: mentions of pregnancy
Summary: You are pregnant and yet to tell your husband.
Tumblr media
Your husband Tomioka Giyū had always been a stoic and reserved individual, a man who wore his heart on his sleeve but never dared to show it to anyone, anyone but you, that is. Behind his gorgeous blue eyes lay more sorrow than you could understand on some days, self-doubts you were always there to reassure him of were not true and a heart deserving of more love than he could ever imagine.
It was only natural that you did not want to cause your husband any more worry. You loved him dearly, after all, and only wanted what you thought was best for Giyū. With the two of you having gotten married some time ago, you thought that your husband had enough to worry about as is, but with a child on the way, his stress would only increase.
Right, a child. You had almost forgotten already. The reason why your own worries were gnawing at your nerves in the first place, tugging at your heartstrings as you mulled over the many different ways your situation could turn out.
You were pregnant and had yet to tell your husband.
In the romance novels you have read during your serene time alone, the part where the wife informed her husband of her pregnancy always seemed to happen so smoothly. The women in the novels always knew what to say, never stumbled over their words or emotions as they delivered the news. What followed were bellows of joy, many kisses and a celebration of the new life beginning, a new future starting.
When the characters written on the pages did it, it seemed so easy. But you weren’t a character on said pages, you were a woman living during times when your life could be cut short so quickly. There was no author writing your perfect little romance and happy ending, you had to fight for your own happy ending, for your own survival. Your fate was not planned out bit by bit, it was yet to be decided, and that scared you deeply.
How would Giyū react to the news?
You liked to think that you knew your husband very well, you wouldn’t have gotten married to him if you didn’t. The foundation to a healthy and successful marriage was trust, knowledge, and above all: love (or so you had been taught). And you also knew that your husband loved you very much, there was no doubt there that he did.
Giyū was not a man to proclaim his love in over-the-top ways by screaming it out to the world, by letting it be known by anyone and everyone. His love was quiet and reserved, just like he was. His kisses were gentle and soft, but filled with so much emotion as he pulled your body flush to his, heat rising to his pale cheeks.
You loved him as much as he loved you, and the other way around. And yet, you couldn’t predict his reaction. Would he be excited? Joyful? Or scared and fester his doubts in quiet, not daring to share them with you unless you begged him to do so, your own worries about him consuming you?
No matter how many sleepless nights you spent thinking about the possible outcomes, feeling his warm body pressed to yours, his strong arms pulling you close and holding onto you tightly, you still didn’t know which outcome was the most probable.
For the first time ever since the two of you got married, you felt like you didn’t know your husband. In your decision-making, you felt so … alone. You had been so used to making decisions alongside your dear husband, consulting him the same way he consulted you, that making such a tough decision was anything but easy for you.
And it didn’t help either that the front door swung open as you were sitting on the ebony rocking chair in the living room, too deep into your doubts and mindlessly pulling at the strings of the ruby-red scarf you wanted to fix. In the doorway stood Giyū, looking battered from his latest mission, as he took off his shoes and outside gear before greeting you.
As soon as he got a good look at you, however, he stopped completely. You seemed nervous and fidgety, not anything like the woman he had married. Around your fingers, the red thread wandered and Giyū watched with curiosity in his gaze as you pulled at the already ripped scarf more and more, pulling it apart at the seams.
Your behaviour was unlike you, Giyū thought, noting how you didn’t even greet him back, as you always did. One look at you was enough to determine that something was wrong.
“Did something happen, darling?”
Your head snapped up to look at him, obviously startled by his question. “Giyū- I-” You breathed in, doing your best at calming your racing heart. “No, no, everything is fine. I’m fine.”
His brows knit into a furrow. He stepped closer to you, his blue eyes raking over your body to check for any injuries. “Are you sure that everything is okay?”
He clearly knew you too well, because when you shook your head, Giyū did not show signs of surprise.
You couldn’t keep this a secret any longer, it wasn’t fair to you or Giyū. Worry shone in his eyes as he looked at you, the thing you so desperately tried to keep away from him.
So, you took a deep breath and said, “There’s something I have to tell you,” You could see his concern for you grow and his posture tense up, the man before you suck in a breath. His heart rate quickened as he anticipated your answer, a million possibilities running through his mind. With your voice barely above a whisper, you continued, “I’m pregnant.”
Your husband had always been a man of few words, but as he stood opposite you completely speechless, your worries only increased.
“Giyū?” Your voice came out as a cry, tears welling up in your eyes. Abruptly, you stood up from the chair, allowing the scarf to drop to your feet. “Say something, please!”
Giyū was stunned, his mouth hanging slightly open, but no words coming out. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing, and for a short moment, he doubted that he had understood you correctly. Joy, excitement, fear and uncertainty flooded through him, he felt overwhelmed by the news, his brain circuiting as he processed what you just told him.
You’re pregnant. He’s going to be a father.
Tears welled in his eyes as he whispered, “Are you sure?”
You nodded, feeling tongue-tied. “Shinobu-san was kind enough to confirm it for me.”
He walked over to you and took you into his arms, carefully holding your body flush to his. “That’s wonderful, darling.”
A choked sob escaped your lips, your pent-up emotions releasing. All that worrying you had done had been for nothing. “Really?”
“Really.”
You took his face into your hands, softly cradling it. Your thumb moved across his cheek, caressing the skin and wiping the tears away that fell from his beautiful blue eyes. “Oh, Giyū …” Another sob wracked through you. “I love you so much.”
Giyū smiled at you. “I love you too, my darling,” His hand rested on your hips, holding you close. “And no matter what, I’m always going to be here for you, you hear me?”Neither of you could wait to start your new chapter as a family together.
My Devoted Husbands ( Fem!Reader) Chapter 3: What should I do now?
Warnings: Slight angst, mentions of polyamory, reverse harem.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Head Canons
As soon as Kyojuro left, you immediately changed into your kendo practice outfit, grabbed a couple of bokken and went to look for your dad. As he saw you storming in, he instinctively hid behind your mom using her as a human shield. Your mother graciously slid to the side allowing you to throw one of the bokken directly to his hand.
-“Ah darling, I am so glad that you reached us here; your mother and I were just talking about Kyojuro and we just feel like…” He said desperately looking at your mom but obtaining no support from her.
-“We will decide this, right now. We will have a 3 set kendo match, if you win I will let Kyojuro know about our family legacy and I will allow you to freely speak to him about your crazy marriage ideas. But… “. Your stance was fierce and full of determination -“If I win, you will never mention anything related to the corp and will drop the circus about marriage until I decide the time is right. Deal?”-
You father was really taken aback, they both were in the middle of a very exciting conversation where he described to your mom how fast you moved in the living room and that he was completely sure that you had already surpassed him. But even after that, he stared at you solemnly standing up from his seat.
-“Y/N, sweetie, weren’t you training today with Sanemi-kun? Genya-kun will be disappointed if you did not make it.” He said sweetly, trying to convince you to drop off the subject.
-“Oh, the boys can manage without me. They are actually rooting for my victory.” Your voice was calm but defiant and as your father knew you were not going to step down from your challenge, he finally agreed.
 -“Very well, so be it. And might we keep our promises then, independently of the match result”.
-“I do trust that you will keep your word, because if you don’t, I will never speak to you back again. And you can bet I am dead serious” . Your gaze was fixed on his, with fiery resolution. If you were going to date Kyojuro, you would do it properly and on your own terms.
You two walked down to the center of your garden, your mom would play as referee since she used to be a very skilled demon slayer. Your brother joined to witness what he believed would be your dad's defeat. Just by staring at you he knew you were already skillful enough to win over a kendo match, it was just a matter of time.
-“Whoever wins 2 sets out of 3 will be the winner of the match”- your mom said as she placed herself in the middle of you both “As for kendo goes, a direct contact will count as a point.” You and your dad were fixedly staring at each other, your bokken up in a guard stance, a dead silence reigned at the battleground and so your mother said with clear voice:
-”Start!”.
Almost immediately after that, you felt a very strong impact in your stomach that propelled you to the far back of the backyard, finding yourself in the need to kneel down to stop yourself from hitting against the wall.
-”Point!”. Your mother exclaimed as you looked at your dad still kneeling on the floor. He had that fiery gaze that confirmed his high ranking at the slayers corp. You were gasping for air but tried to dissimulate, that strike had been really precise and painful.
-”If you have any intention of winning, you need to start taking me seriously, Y/N. I might be your father but I am still The Water Pillar and if you ever intend to claim this rank, better start acting as the Tsugoku you are and drop your childish ideas.”
He was right, you have been so angry about what just happened with Kyojuro that you totally forgot who you were about to fight, it wasn’t an UNO match against your daddy; it was a kendo match with the Water Pillar.
For an instant you felt a bit insecure, unsure if you could attain victory, but then it hit you. Even if you did not say it out loud you knew that your honor and worth as swordswoman were at stake. Because, how could you talk so big if you weren’t able to back your words with true strength? That was the challenge you threw at him by asking for a kendo match. You probably could have thrown a tantrum, asked your mother to intervene or given him the silent treatment for a couple of days to make him stop all his babbling related to Kyojuro. But no, you were so sure that your sword skills were superior to his, that you threw that challenge completely secure about your victory.
It wasn’t about boyfriend or marriage anymore, it was about if you were already strong enough to officially surpass your father and become the next Water Pillar. It was about if you could keep the family legacy with dignity. You were sure that by then, he would start respecting your decisions more and will stop making ridiculous comments about your personal life.
You honestly loved being in the corps, the training sessions, the knowledge your father passed to you and why not; you loved how damn good of a slayer you were. So yes, you would show him how strong your will to protect humans from the demon menace was and how proud you were to call yourself a Demon Slayer.
And you will, definitely, win.
As all doubts started to dissipate, you stood up with your gaze fixed on the messy ground, steadily breathing and as you sheathed your bokken to your belt, you said to your opponent:
-”Now I am ready, father.” You patiently  waited for your mother to call the beginning of the next set.
-”Start!” It was like your body moved by itself, you quickly positioned yourself at your dad’s back.
-”Water breathing, second form: water wheel!” Your rival was merely able to dodge it, he counterattacked, but you were faster blocking his front strike and so you continued:
-”Water breathing, fourth form; striking tide…” Now your father started to defend himself from a series of speedily impacts as you quickly changed your direction with a back somersault, you yelled “ Water breathing, sixth form: Whirlpool!!!”
-”Point!” Your mother briskly said as your bokken slightly impacted your dad’s shoulder. You are now even, 1 to 1, the next set will decide everything. You were pretty sure that your father was enjoying the match as much as you and you were also sure that the hardest part of the tussle was about to start. None of you said a word and so your mother proceeded to yell with excitement:
-”Start!” None of you two were to be seen at any place, as you both bet on speed for achieving victory. Only a high level swordsman could follow your now inhuman encounter, your brother was the only one having trouble keeping up compared to your mother, who was completely focused on identifying the match winner as her eyes quickly scanned the entire scene.
Your father’s strikes were faster, stronger and more precise compared to the beginning of the match; you felt like your bokken could break at any moment. You needed to use your entire body to dodge his strikes since getting a broken weapon will translate into an automatic loss.
While your foothold kept changing constantly you decided to start building momentum for a final strike, you were tired and were sure that if you did not finish it with all you had left, you would probably lose. You started your attack by briefly changing direction to totally impulse yourself on your garden wall, as you were total concentration breathing, your strong step cracked the wall as you propelled yourself forward against your father, this was it:
-”Water breathing, ninth form: Splashing Water Flow, Flash!”. It happened in an instant, a thunderous sound announced that one of the bokken had broken and after all the dust had settle; there was an obvious winner. You and your father were standing, staring in opposite directions, with your bokken slightly touching the back of his neck and your dad’s half bokken on the floor .
-”Point and match! Your mother happily yelled as you dropped to the floor, completely exhausted. Your father was showing you a big smile when he offered his hand to help you get up.
-”Do not ever doubt yourself again, your strength and skill now pairs with a pillar, live your life with honor as you have always had.” The feelings that those words carried were so powerful to you, that you had tears at the brink of your eyes. Just as in the beginning of the match, your body moved by itself, warmly giving into your father’s embrace, this was the moment you have been waiting for almost all your life since you unsheathed your first katana. You have finally deemed yourself worthy of your last name.
Well this was not it, at least not yet. You still needed to receive Lord Kagaya’s blessing and successfully complete your first mission as the lead of high-ranked Demon Slayer squad. But this was indeed the beginning of the rest of your life. Time flew so fast while your Dad merrily recreated your final strike with your brother’s help, that you did not notice it until your phone vibed violently with a sort of extremely enthusiastic texts:
From: Nemi
[Wth Y/N? U left me hanging by myself with the little shit.]
You couldn’t help but to giggle, you can’t remember how many times you have asked Sanemi to not call Genya those, in your opinion, bad taste nicknames but your friend was just like that. As you start writing back to him you realized how late it was and that you were not going to make it to your date with Giyuu.
From: You
[I finally broke my old man’s bokken, TTYL, got a date. ]
The time it took you to get ready was barely human, you showered, put some clothes and perfume on, grabbed your purse and you were already sprinting to the recently opened tea house. You thought that being a demon in slayer was not always that bad, as it came along with some physical perks. Being late was a usual with you and a good thing was that Giyuu never seemed to care about it.
It was not hard to spot your friend, peaceful sitting in a two-person table, scrolling through his phone, with a chilly glass of water at his side. The waitresses noticed you immediately as you made your way to your seat. Your black haired companion stood up as soon as he saw you walking in, he was slightly taller than you, he had was wearing a stretchy white blouse and denim jeans, his hair was a bit messier than usual, but still styled into a low pony tail.
“You look terrible.” - said your friend in a very serious tone.
“Thank you! I missed you too…- you said with a sarcastic tone while you removed your jacket and sat down, picking up the menu and calling in the waitress.
“…and you still wonder why you don’t have a girlfriend.” - You concluded raising a eyebrow and giving him a small side smile.
“I did not meant any harm with that… I am actually concerned. I think you sometimes take your training too seriously.” - He spoke as he ordered his and your drink. He’d know you for so long that he did not needed to ask about your choice. The waitress nodded and quickly removed herself from the table. It was actually nice the way you both got treated by the waitresses every time you and Giyuu hanged out, you assumed that it was because your friend was considerably handsome and that you both had always gave out the “best friends” vibe.
“… And I have not ever complained, not even once, for not having a girlfriend”.- You rolled your eyes with a wide smile.
“Then, you should learn how to properly speak to lady if you ever wanna change that.” - you concluded as you took the first sip from your drink. It was absolutely blissful, the floral scent flooded your nose, warmness embracing your insides, instantly relaxing every aching muscle of your body.
“I will take your advice, thank you”.- He sipped from his drink, and you were not sure if he enjoyed the tea as much you did, in fact it was always very hard to read your friend’s mind. Actually now that you had come to think about it, the way you two bonded was kind of peculiar.
You and his sister, Tsukako, became good friends during high school and even though you had knew him since then, you and Giyuu did not became friends until you both got into college together, in the same bachelor degree. A lot had changed since those times, but certainly not his lack of expressions, and you could not help but to compare him with Kyojuro and how much of an open book was your new blond boyfriend.
BOYFRIEND! Yes, these were happy news that you definitely wanted to disclose with one of your closest friends. The thought of Daki not being the first one to know gave you chills, but out of sight, out of mind right?
“So, you are never gonna guess what happened to me today.”- you took another sip. -“I was at this pizza place and I chose to start choking at the worst time possibly…” - Your friend interrupted you.
“Y/N, I need to tell you something…- his face was serious, nothing out of the normal, but was not the type of guy to ever interrupt you, so he left you out of words.
“I-I… Well that’s… ok sure. Is everything alright?”- you sipped again, glancing at him with the lower corner of your eye, with consternation.
“I like you and I want you to go out with me.”- Luckily for you, the tea was in the right place at the right time, otherwise your recently confessed lover would had a dripping wet face by then.
That phrase keep floating around your head, you blinked with confusion, did you heard that right? Probably not, so you sipped again while you cleared your throat.
“You, err, like me? You like me, exactly in which type of way?.- you asked, while repeating to yourself: “Please do not say it, please let it be a misunderstanding, please, not today.”
“In a romantic way, the way a man feels attracted to a woman.” - he sipped and cleared his fine lips with a neatly folded paper napkin. You rested your chin on the palm of your hand, using your fingers to cover your mouth, frowning with concern, unable to speak. This had to be a horrible coincidence, it was just some nights ago that you had dismissed your dad’s ranting about your friends having romantic feelings for you and here you were; A new boyfriend, the broken bokken of your father and another love confession.
Could this day get any crazier?
It was not the fact that you could not like Giyuu, he was indeed a great guy and you enjoyed being around him. Having your blue-eyed companion as a boyfriend was not an idea that you disliked but the problem was that you were dating someone else by now. How were you supposed to gracefully reject a friend and not hurt his feelings? You were not even sure if you were ready to be in a relationship with Kyojuro and there you were, having to break the heart of someone you cared for and if this was not enough, you were about to start the process to become the water pillar.
It was too much, too much for her, too much for a couple of days, too much for her the rest of her life thank you very much.
“You do not have to give me an answer right now. I am going on a business trip tomorrow. We can talk about it when I come back and I will be fine with whatever decision you take.” - He calmly called the waitress again to ask for a refill. How in hell could he be so calm after he spat such words? How could he failed to see how were you crumbling on the inside? Nonetheless, that was a good thing, right? It turned you into a very good liar, concealing your secret until the day you die. You have not spoken a single word.
“Sorry, I did interrupted you. You were talking about a pizza place?” - He sipped again, with inhuman tranquility, and you decided to play along. If you were going to reject him you would have time to think about the best way to do it and still end up in good terms, because that was only way to do it. Right?
“It was, it was nothing special, it was the best slice pizza that ever tried to kill me.” - For a change, Giyuu chuckled.
PRETTY SMILES ALL AROUND
WARNINGS. giyuu tomioka x gn!reader, 0.5k words, fluff
NAVI | KNY MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
there are many things that giyuu appreciates in his life; the feeling of sinking into a warm bath, eating a just-cooked plate of simmered salmon and daikon after a long day, getting into freshly washed sheets, and, which he appreciated most of all, the comfort of your loving embrace.
giyuu had been on a mission for over 3 days when he finally found the demons he was investigating and beheaded them. he missed you even more as each day passed, so the water hashira was more than happy to come back home to you.
on the days you find yourself alone, you tend to stay at the butterfly estate with the girls and shinobu if the woman wasn’t busy herself. you were helping aoi in the kitchen when naho called for your name and told you about your lover’s arrival.
your feet thudded throughout the estate as you ran into the infirmary room. the butterfly girl told you that giyuu was getting some stitches for a cut on his arm and that shinobu was treating him. you burst into the room, nearly startling the dark-haired man, who was alone.
“giyuu!” you jumped onto him. he caught you with ease and held your waist tight, bringing one of his hands up your back. “i missed you so much, love. if i had known you were on your way, i would’ve prepared you your favorites.”
“there’s no need for that. i’m glad to be back,” he set you back down on your feet.
“you work hard, don’t you forget. you deserve it! plus some more,” you pouted. “anyway, let me see the cut on your arm.”
“it’s alright-“
“giyuu.”
“right here.”
immediately complying, giyuu rolled up his sleeve and held out his left arm. there were stitches about 5 inches long across his forearm. from what you heard, the cut wasn’t deep, so the stitches would be removed soon enough.
“you almost never get hurt. are you sure you’re okay? is this the only injury you have? are you sure the demon-“ and your worried rambling continued on.
as you talked, giyuu let you inspect him for any more unaccounted wounds. you were so busy trying to make sure he was okay to notice the gentle smile on his face. that was until you cut yourself off to see why he wasn’t responding.
although you’ve seen his smile before, it wasn’t a common sight. the words on your mind died in your throat before you stood straight, resting your hands on his arms.
“you know,” you brushed a strand of his hair away from his forehead, “your smile is so pretty.”
his cheeks turned rosy, “my smile?”
“yes, your smile, giyuu.”
“well,” he cleared his throat, “i think your smile is pretty. you’re prettier.”
you slowly nodded your head before heat spread to your cheeks. although it was usually unintentional, giyuu was always able to make your heart flutter. you smiled before you pressed your lips against his.
“let’s go eat. we’re just about finished cooking, and i’m sure you’ll like it.”
Man-eating demons. Comrade deaths. Yet nothing was as scary to the stoic Water Pillar when his firstborn suddenly appeared behind him whilst he was polishing his sword on the engawa and announced the dreaded six words.
"Dad, I have something to ask."
Giyuu froze, brain momentarily drawing a complete blank. The sword clattered to the ground, forgotten as Giyuu slowly turned his head around. Dear Kami-sama, he did not think this day would come so fast. He was just almost six, for goodness' sake; he'd been praying it would be another six years before he'd have to answer. Where were you? Crap, crap. You had gone to go pick up Sumire from daycare and now he'd have to deal with this himself.
Alright, he could do it. It's been six years as a dad. He could pull it off.
Koji waited for his father to nod before continuing, the serious face he shared with Giyuu creased with a frown. "How do you know-"
"Koji, it's a normal part of puberty everyone goes through, so naturally you'd be curious, and I'm very happy you trust me enough to come talk to me about it, but whatever sex jokes Uncle Sanemi has been making you want explained you should go ask your mother because I don't think I'm good enough at explaining what adults do at night or how babies are made at this stage," Giyuu blurted out. Exactly like how he had rehearsed it - Giyuu privately congratulated himself for not messing it up.
Two dark blue eyes blinked at him. "What?"
"What?"
"I-" Koji shook his head in confusion. "I dunno what you're talking about and I don't care how babies are made."
"Then..." Giyuu wanted to sink into the ground. "What...did you want to talk to me about?"
"Sumire." Koji wrinkled up his nose in a disgusted expression when he said his sister's name, padding up to his father and plopping down next to him.
"...is she asking you about these things then? I'm not too sure how to explain the jokes to a two year old either but I can try. Or you could just tell her babies come from storks," Giyuu offered helpfully.
"Wait - what? No, that's not what I was going to - what?"
Ah, for the days when Giyuu didn't open his mouth to talk much and eventually embarrass himself. "...sorry, go on."
"Yeah sure." Koji seemed a little distracted, even for a six year old. "Y'know the daycare? She made a new friend."
"That's...nice." At least she isn't taking after Giyuu? What was the problem here and how could he stop his ears from burning red at his not once but twice blunder?
"It's a boy. They keep playing together, sharing meals, nicknames and stuff. She even gave him -" Koji shuddered, narrowing his eyes. "A matching bracelet."
"A...boy?" Giyuu had long retired from being a slayer after the war and he probably wasn't too good with fighting with one arm, but hey, he was polishing that sword for a reason. He couldn't believe how he never spotted it before: Sumire had kicked up a huge fuss at being sent to daycare originally but recently had seemed almost...ecstatically eager to go. Too eager.
His own eyes narrowed. "Tell me everything."
***
"How's Sumi?"
At the sudden question you glanced behind to where your husband was pressing his forehead into your back, one arm wrapped around your waist as you cooked dinner. Not unusual behavior, but didn't Giyuu just see his daughter a few minutes ago?
"Fine, pretty happy at the daycare all things considering." You slid the salmon onto a different plate, unable to keep the suspicion out of your tone. "At least we don't have to keep fighting another war just to get her out the door like last time."
"Koji says she's making friends there."
"Was he supposed to say anything else?" You rolled your eyes. Now you knew where this was coming from. Of course.
"I don't like her friend," Giyuu said plainly. He let go of you to help carry one of the dishes out of the kitchen with you, doing his one-armed best to assist you in setting the table.
"And why is that?" You nodded along, as if you didn't know why. How long would it be until Giyuu cracked? "Koji! Sumire! Time for dinner!"
"He's a boy. Someone trying to steal her away from us. He already gave her a bracelet!"
"Yuu. Yuu, look me in the eye right now." Once your husband finally turned to meet your face he could clearly see you were struggling to hold in your laughter. "One, you're a boy yourself. Two, she's, well, two. Three, Sumire gave him the bracelet."
"Yeah, but I'm her dad! So what if she's two? It's too early for her to fall in love. And a bracelet is basically an engagement jewelry already."
You couldn't help yourself anymore, doubling over in laughter at Giyuu's quiet whining. "Koji put you up this, didn't he?"
"He told me," Giyuu admitted. "But no boy's allowed around Sumi."
"Shion's not that bad of a kid," You countered. "It could be worse."
Giyuu nearly spat. "Wh-what? You know his name?"
"Obviously, Sumire won't stop talking about him."
"And not me?"
"Yuu, look at how overprotective you're acting right now and say that again." You bit down your giggles watching your husband scrunch up his face and attempt to find a way to defend himself as your two children ran in and took their seats.
"I'm not overprotective!"
***
Perhaps slightly protective. Nothing more.
At least Giyuu wasn't being as openly hostile as Sumire's elder brother, who was sitting judgmentally from the corner, glaring at Shion over his book. Giyuu wasn't glowering per se, but you would probably have to save the poor boy soon from under the weight of two penetratingly unnerving stares.
Sumire didn't notice, beaming with literal stars in her eyes at her playmate (Giyuu had been the one to invite him over, which was extremely fishy, which was why you had decided to stay and watch as well). "Hi, Shion-kun! Mama made mochi, wanna go eat?"
"Sure." The freckled face boy stepped through the doorway, following your baby girl into the kitchen. Giyuu eyed him from behind the steaming cup of tea. "Hi Tomioka-san! Is it true you used to be a samurai? Sumi-chan told me a lot about you!"
You strategically interrupted right then before Giyuu could say something awkwardly honest by dumping the plate of sakura mochi onto the table. "Help yourselves, there's plenty to go around!"
So on went the playdate, Sumire suggesting games to her new friend who did his best to act normal and not nervous under Koji's sarcastic quips and Giyuu's pointed stare, oblivious to the fact her brother and father weren't ready to give her up yet (a trait she clearly got from Giyuu) - despite the fact you had spent half an hour before this drilling into their heads Shion was not here to go kidnap Sumire.
You made the mistake of leaving to go clean up the mess in the kitchen later on, however, under the relieved thought that maybe Giyuu had gotten over his little temper tantrum over the boy. Big mistake, because next thing you knew-
"GIYUU WHY ARE YOU HAVING A DUEL WITH A THREE YEAR OLD-"
"He wanted to learn how to use a sword," Giyuu said blankly, pausing in his movements. It certainly seemed innocent and safe enough, seeing as they were using wooden swords and were outside. Sumire excitedly stood by Shion's side, ever the cheerleader.
But you knew your man and son a lot better than that. There was no way they hadn't planned this, not when they were sharing a look.
"I wanna try be like Tomioka-san! Sumi-chan said he used to fight demons and even fought their king. That's so cool!" Shion piped up excitedly. You were going to murder your overprotective husband for this later...if Sumire didn't beat you to it.
"See, Ma? It's all fine," Koji smirked from the sidelines. "Begin!"
***
Predictably it ended with Giyuu slapping Shion with the flat of his blade, causing a scraped knee as well as Giyuu muttering to the fallen "Don't you even think about doing anything to her" when Sumire panicked and rushed over to her friend.
Luckily you managed to usher Shion out to be picked up by his dad in a flurry of apologies, pleasantries and assurances that it was lovely having him over while Sumire burst into tears and asked him not to go yet (you heard Giyuu's almost inaudible "Hmph" when Shion too cried and said the same thing).
Giyuu and Koji were feeling pretty good about themselves, sharing a victorious glance at each other - Team Tomioka 1, Scum Boy 0 - until you slammed the doors shut, calmed down your precious Sumire with the promise of all the leftover mochi in the kitchen before bedtime and then turned around to fix the both of them with your intense glare.
"Koji! Grounded, now!"
"What did I do?!" Koji threw up his hands but stomped off to his room.
"I saw you push Shion, don't act innocent!" You grabbed Giyuu's arm and began to haul him off to the privacy of your bedroom. "And don't think I forgot about you as well, Tomioka Giyuu!"
Damn, you did forget how pathetically kicked puppy-like Giyuu could look when he was playing innocent. "I didn't intentionally beat him up, you know."
"I know you didn't, Yuu," you said sweetly. "But I didn't know you were into fighting with little kids as well!"
"I just don't want anyone taking away Sumi."
You groaned. Once again Giyuu has melted your heart into a slushy mess with his blunt sincerity and expression. You leaned into his hold, grudgingly allowing him to pull your head into his chest but hit him with your fist still. "You're still not supposed to pull that kind of stunt, alright? No one's taking Sumi away from us. You and Koji are really idiots sometimes."
"What if I told you Koji likes a girl too?"
Your head snapped up. "WHAT?!"
"Yeah. He met her at school. Someone named Yuma," Giyuu said casually, as if he didn't know you would be reacting this way. He hummed, playing with your hair. "That's why he took your mochi, by the way, to give it to her."
"Why didn't he tell me?!" You wailed, suddenly forgetting how you had scolded Giyuu for this exact behavior. "I'm his mom! He's growing up so fast!"
Giyuu attempted to continue with his revenge plan but ultimately failed: you both wound up cuddling the rest of the night disappointedly lamenting how fast time flies.
***
BONUS:
"Onii-chan, what are Mama and Daddy doing in there?" Sumire pressed her ear close to the door, munching on her dessert.
Koji froze. "Uh...babies come from storks, Sumi."
𝐆𝐢𝐲𝐮𝐮 ➤ "giyuu- i love you-"
giyuu's eyes widen slightly. his face buried in the nook of your neck, he slowly pulls away a little. you can tell his breath is quickening, despite staying still.
giyuu has never been able, or comfortable, with showing, or reacting to emotions. he'd always bury them down within himself, although, he couldn't deny that he felt them so strongly.
giyuu blushes heavily. without saying a word, he rests his hand on your cheek, pulling you into a soft, passionate kiss.
𝐎𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐢 ➤ "i love you. i love y---" "i-i love you too y/n." he whispers, lovingly, before you can finish the sentence.
his reply is so fast, it almost sounds like he was waiting for it. his grip gets tighter as he says it. his pace quickens. "i love you so much, y/n. you're mine." obanai holds you tight in his arms as he makes love to you, tirelessly, softly gazing at your beautiful silhouette. He wishes this moment could last forever.
𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐢 ➤ "sanemi i- i love you."
sanemi scoffs. "f-fuck, y/n. yeah?" he pants heavily, his hand on your waist, the other one on the back of your head, intertwining his fingers with your hair. "shit, me too." sanemi kisses down your chest, possessively. "i need you."
"ive always liked you." sanemi's touch feels hot on your skin, and his thrusts, slow but deep, are making you feel every inch of him.
despite the sweat, the steaminess of his words, and the aggressiveness of his touch, you feel deeply loved.
𝐆𝐲𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐢 ➤ "gyo.. i love you.."
you say, as the strong man guides you on his lap. suddenly, hearing your words, he holds you against his chest, without slipping out of you. he holds you with such strenght, you can feel his heartbeat merge into yours.
"i love you too, angel." his voice rumbles. tears stream down his face, cheeks, and chin. "let me make you mine forever." his voice sounds so soft, wholesome and passionate.
"my angel.. my angel.. my angel.." he keeps chanting, as he continues guiding your hips, lovedrunkly.
𝐊𝐲𝐨𝐣𝐮𝐫𝐨 ➤ "i love you.. i love you."
kyojuro stops for a second.
"wait, you too? you.. you love me too?" he smiles softly. intertwining his fingers with yours, he pulls you in closer. he kisses you, softly moaning in your mouth.
"i love you too... i was scared to tell you." he says, as his heat grows bigger and needier.
"i want you. so much. i want to be with you." he whispers, kissing your neck, down to your collarbones, holding your hands, slowly making love to you.
𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐧 ➤ "i- i love you.."
tengen smiles. it's the brightest smile you've ever seen.
"i love you too. i love you."
from standing on his knees between your legs, the man leans down in order to be closer to you, as he keeps moving inside you. "you're so.. pretty.. so pretty.." his moans sound so soft in your ears, like a melody you've never heard before. "y/n.. i want to marry you.." he says, speeding up his pace, holding you close to him.
❦ GIYUU X PREGNANT!READER
cw: none, this is fluff, fem!reader
"you have a wife?!" sanemi yelled.
"you’re lying." obanai mumbled. "that’s sad."
"tomioka, how sweet!" mitsuri called.
giyuu’s eyes narrowed at rengoku, the bright man just smiled innocently.
"i had no idea they didn’t know," he sheepishly said.
as soon as giyuu got back from his mission, the flame hashira informed him that his wife was in the butterfly mansion. something had happened, and she needed to be taken to shinobu. unfortunately, rengoku wasn’t known for being quite—blasted eardrums will do that to a person—so the other hashira in the perimeter got to hear (for the first time) that not only was giyuu NOT single, he was MARRIED.
they ended up following him through the halls, pestering him with questions until they reached the room you stayed in. your husband ignored them like usual, the only thing on his mind being your well being.
his nerves were calmed, however, immediately upon seeing you laying in bed, a smile on your face as you chatted with shinobu.
"how are you feeling?" giyuu’s tone was soft as he blocked you from the prying eyes of the other hashira in the doorway. he made his way towards your side.
"tired." you smiled at him, letting your husband hold your hand and run his thumb over your fingers. "shinobu said it was a false contraction."
"it was caused by stress," your friend’s calming voice said. "makes sense, tomioka, anyone married to you would be on edge."
your husband just grumbled at his friend as you giggled. he then helped you sit up in bed, the blankets falling off to reveal your pregnant stomach to the small audience watching.
"you had sex?!" sanemi screamed.
oblivious to the small mass of people staring at you, sanemi’s outburst startled you, causing you to grab onto your husband’s haori. he instinctively pulled you close, his soft look switching to a death glare towards the doorway.
"hush!" giyuu seethed at him, finally giving attention to the posse. "she’s nine months pregnant; shut up."
although listening and lowering his voice, sanemi didn’t let his question go unanswered. "you’re not a virgin?"
"go away," giyuu deadpanned. "all of you, go away. now."
"it’s okay, darling," you tried to soothe him. "maybe you should introduce me to your friends."
you felt him tense up at that. he didn’t let go of your hand, and he only moved half a step away from you (half of them still couldn’t see you), and he spoke with a monotone voice. "this is my wife, y/n. she’s pregnant with our first child."
the was no verbal reaction from the onlookers, just looks of disbelief from the four of them. it felt like you were an animal in the zoo with the way they were all staring dumbfounded at you.
it took a couple minutes for shinobu and rengoku to get the others out, leaving you and giyuu alone in the room. as soon as the door closed, your husband grabbed your face and peppered kisses all over it, causing you to giggle. he took a seat on the edge of the bed to be closer to you.
"i’m so sorry," he said, kissing your lips. "i’m sorry i wasn’t here."
"it’s okay, baby." you let your head rest on his shoulder. "i’m just glad i didn’t give birth."
"i would never forgive myself if i was gone for that." giyuu’s hand ran up and down your back comfortingly.
you sigh in relief, turning your head to place a kiss on his neck.
"well now that you’re here, let’s get this baby out of me."
