It's far past curfew, but even Jamil had long forgotten about that. That's how strange this whole thing is.

Kalim has never looked so worried. "Not a thaumark. They said so!"

"Did they...?"

Of course. Jamil has thought you were weird from the day Kalim started coming home with plastic toys and friendship bracelets, "gifts" of yours. But this is just absurd.

The heir to one of the richest families in the world has days to find you the perfect birthday gift, and he can't spend any money.

Kalim's eyes are wide with thought, which is a strange look on him. "They say that my presence is enough..."

"But it's not," Jamil finishes the thought for him. Kalim had always given gifts as love- handing out gold and jewels like they were candy- which made him a treat for... well, most of NRC. But not you.

"Well... there's plenty you can do without spending," Jamil says. "You could... cook something, or plan a nice date..."

Kalim pouts. "It's not enough! Everything they get me is so... perfect... I want to do the same!"

Perfect, meaning the cheap toys from claw machines, drawings, handmade jewelry, half-edible cookies... Kalim keeps everything you give him. Everything. His room is beginning to look like the prize shelf at an arcade.

"This is quite the conundrum, isn't it..." Jamil mutters. "Are you sure I can't-"

"No! I need to come up with it on my own! They're just... so good at gift-giving. I wonder how they do it..." Kalim sighs. Jamil rolls his eyes.

"Then... perhaps I can offer some advice. The sort of gift you're looking to give doesn't come from here," Jamil says, pointing to his head. He trails his finger down to his chest.

"...It comes from here."

Though that was complete nonsense, Kalim lights up. "I-I think I understand! Thanks, Jamil!"

And then he's gone.

Trapped in a circle of friends and Scarabia students, you awkwardly smile at their birthday wishes.

Grim's greedy little paws dig into the homemade cake before the candles are out, getting icing all over himself. You chuckle, a warm, loving sound that makes Kalim beam. Good so far.

"Time for gifts. We do have a curfew to mind," Jamil says, and Grim laughs maniacally, reaching out for the first box.

"Actually," Kalim says, smiling as if it were his own birthday. "I was hoping I'd get to give my gift first!"

You chuckle. "I don't see why not,"

Kalim returns the gesture, and he stands on the table, drawing everyone's attention to him. Jamil raises an eyebrow.

"I'm not seeing a box!" Grim shouts, and you shush him. Kalim clears his throat.

"I'm usually not so bad at this, but I had a lot of trouble thinking of the perfect present for you... until Jamil said I was thinking too much here... and not here," he says, pointing first to his head, and then lower, to his throat.

You give Jamil a confused look, but he looks just as lost.

"So... that's what I'm going to do. Happy birthday!"

Everyone watches in some mix of amusement and horror as Kalim begins to sing... in your honor.

Without any accompanying music, he performs, in front of everyone you know, a song about everything he loves about you. Even Jamil looks horrified.

When it's over, the room is quiet. Everyone is staring at Kalim as if his head had fallen off.

Then, slowly, you stand. And you clap.

You're beaming. "That was amazing! Again! Again!"

Kalim grins, unphased by the weird looks everyone is giving you two, and he hops off the table to pull you into a hug.

"I'm so glad you liked it!"

"Liked it!? That was..." you laugh, hugging him back. "That was perfect."

"I can sing it as much as you want! Every night, if it makes you happy!"

Mappi headcanons:

- This one isn’t originally mine but yeah I believe in Filipino Mahiru supremacy HONORARY PINOY FR

- To me she seems like the kind of person who would have little habits/ticks she likes to do like twirling her pencil around, bouncing her leg while she’s sitting, skipping around in place those sort of things!!!

- She also likes to gesticulate with her hands a lot so she can get her point across, and it helps her keep track of her thoughts too when she’s speaking to someone

- Her, Kazui, and Mikoto like to hang out occasionally! I feel like they would volunteer together at an animal shelter to help out! :D

- She would show up to Haruka, Yuno, and Mu’s high school graduation and make a whole banner for them! She would make the biggest deal out of it because she’s just so proud of them you know 🥺

- Loves to bake, is really good at it actually (she would definitely do those pie competitions some people have you know whoever makes the best pie gets a ribbon yeah that, she has so many ribbons :3) , but struggles sometimes with cooking, Shidou helps teach her some skills and come up with easier recipes for her to make!

- I also think she would totally stress bake just so she could vent out all her emotions djfjfkfk which results in a lot of cookies and cakes being made. She gives all the extra ones to Amane!

- She would definitely do color guard in school! It’s one of her main passions, along with band! I want Amane Momose to play a trumpet I think it would be amazing

- Kazui, Shidou, Futa, Mahiru, and Kotoko are at her games often, they all cheer her on ofc <3

- Shidou always loves to celebrate after her games with giving her pancakes! Ofc she denies them and lets the others eat them, but she’ll save one pancake for herself just to show her appreciation (cue Shidou crying in the corner while Kazui tries to comfort him LMAO)

- In the beginning, she wasn’t that good and Futa would always beat her, but now they're evenly matched, and she always revels in the victory whenever she wins in a game against Futa >:3

- Yuno would help with picking out new outfits for her! I feel like they would frequent the mall often lol. Haruka also joins them on occasion, and him and Amane love to look at all the stuffed animal and book stores together!

- Her, Haruka, and Mu would probably take an art class over the summer together and all of them would be so invested in it that it becomes a hobby!

- Once Amane gets to high school, I think it would be cute if Mu gave her a hand me down uniform with custom stitching and everything. The uniform has embroidery all around it where everyone contributed to something on the uniform

- Kotoko takes her to martial arts training classes, which she enjoys a lot. She tries out the new kicks she's learned on Futa and Shidou <3

- Kazui always gives her piggy back rides 🥺

- Amane has a pet cat named Sango, whom she loves very much 🥺 she is very sweet and spoiled, and loves cuddling with her. It helps Amane when she has trouble sleeping, or if she has a nightmare

- Mahiru buys a little cat charm for Amane's bookbag! She also helps cat sit Sango whenever Amane is busy

this is me provoking you to share your thoughts & feelings on media :3c

WAAAAAAAH JUMPS AROUND OK OK UMMM. Well I just mentioned liking Bethy Esda games + I'm currently replaying fo3 SO I'll talk about fallout ^u^ putting a read more bc umm. Teehee

I personally have the most gameplay experience and lore knowledge with FNV, though I have played FO4 to death and FO3 was my first fallout game so no matter how much I ragged on both those games they're still both very precious to me. I haven't ever played 1/2 myself but I DO admire the works and their storytelling + world building, they were considered revolutionary to the gaming world for a reason! FO76... much like TESO I will not be touching on it. Just thinking about it gives me a headache. BUT ANYWAYSSS Fallout is such a beautiful franchise to me even with all of it's shortcomings its influence on the post-apocalyptic genre has been astounding and the way people of all ages and backgrounds can find ways to enjoy the series is so beautiful to me.

FO4- and FO3 to a slightly lesser extent- is a mess lore and storytelling wise. It's an FPS first and foremost, and I wouldn't even consider it an RPG in the same way 1/2/NV are since it just barely fits the technical definitions of one. You could say FO3 gets a pass of sorts since it's the franchise's jump from 2D text-heavy strategy to 3D FPS gameplay, but with how FNV reused so much of FO3's mechanics/design and managed to still give such an impactful story and game, it makes the letdown of FO4 sting even more. The player character is forced to be bland and cookie-cutter whether you decide to be good or evil, the decisions you make have virtually no depth or importance to them and the characters you meet (with a handful of exceptions) are just as bland and unimpactful. But! The game is an FPS first! And it's a good one! It's a game with a fighting/scavenging/building loop that does keep the players interested, and exploring the world is incredibly interesting! Which, unfortunately, does make you wish that they had put the same amount of love into the characters, factions, quests, etc.

FNV shines so brightly because, in spite of its now outdated graphics and somewhat campy execution, it shows the obvious work and love that went into not just how the world was built but the large range of people you can meet within said world! FO3 is definitely lackluster by today's standards, but it was revolutionary in it's own way as it represented the start of a new era for the series! And FNV, despite being officially considered a spinoff, piggybacked off of that near-perfectly and set a new standard for gaming! And then FO4.

I have alot of feelings about the lore that I keep bringing up but. My God this post is so long now ummm. Anyways as much as I criticize and insult the games I love all of them and find enjoyment in playing them and if YOU enjoy a game that people consider janky or poorly made or Bad then that's ok and I love you. alex canonically loves sugary things, to the point that they try multiple times through the series to eat whatever mc's made before it's even had time to cool

but if u want my opinion on a specific baked sweet, i'd say cake or cupcakes. something heavily frosted, definitely >;3c

as for headcanons:

- alex often starts off helping mc with getting her ingredients ready but she always kind of ends up taking over. not that alex minds; they love watching her go when she's in her element. watching her is probably their favorite part of it all, even above eating the results

- they absolutely don't need to do it, but sometimes alex plays it like they dont know what they're doing. mc catches on instantly, and she plays along with it and comes up behind them, guiding their hands, pressed up against their back. it's very flirty and intimate and silly :)

- mc constantly has to keep an eye on any frosting she might be preparing to use for her baking because alex Will try to get an early taste

- from the last hc; the only time that alex doesn't try to sneak a taste is when they were planning to propose. they were too enamored with her to even think of trying it

- alex makes good on their "deal" to teach mc greek in exchange for baking lessons

- mc loves surprising alex with little treats and goodies.

- anytime mc tries out a new recipe, she gives alex the chance to try it first, knowing they'll eat it whether it's actually good or not

4. Is trust a big issue for you?

i’m like on private mode in terms of how easily i trust people nowadays! i just need to verify that they’re someone worthy of my trust, so i’ll give like, a bit at a time. a sprinkle of trust, if u will, see how they do with it, and then after enough time we’ll both get there! i’m a pretty patient person so it’s like a thing where i have to trust that the other person is patient to gain my trust too. there are, however, certain key phrases/actions that can allow someone to clip straight through to the “i trust u” zone and unlock my entire cringe glory

21. Are you in a good mood?

generally yeah, lately not being able to see my friends has really taken a toll on the amount of happiness that i’m able to face the world with... but when it’s just me by myself, i can do a pretty decent job of keeping myself in a good place as long as i have the right materials and talk to my friends often!

81. Tea or coffee?

tea! i like all kinds except hibiscus and raspberry. with coffee, i only like it if it’s got lots of cream and sugar in it. at that point it’s basically dessert, so i only have it if i’m rewarding myself for something lol

i like peanut butter cookies a lot, and sugar cookies, specifically the ones that have those glassy colorful sprinkles on them from great american cookies? i also can never turn down a chewy chocolate chip cookie either :)

69. Ever take dance lessons?

yea actually! idk if i told any of my friends this but i took waltz lessons for a few months! i still do it from time to time to make sure i remember, dancing is really fun, and the waltz is super super easy so ig that’s why i like it. also it makes me feel pretty and we all know how much i love that ˚･ﾟ✧*･ﾟ*✭˚･ﾟ✧*･ﾟ*

- sparkling can only mix drinks he cant actually cook

1. Do you and your F/O enjoy the fall weather? If so, what activities do you do?

I think both Klaus and I love fall weather! that’s sweater and hoodie time!!!! Him and I rake a lot and make leaf piles and jump in, take many long strolls through the park, and probably go apple picking!!!! And cuddle.A lot of cuddlin

2. Would you and your F/O go through a corn maze? Do you think the both of you would get lost?

Yeah! I think he’d be willing to try it if I asked him!!! We’d probably get lost but, we wouldn’t worry too much, we’d just enjoy talking and walking, at least, until it starts to get dark, then I start getting worried, so Klaus gives me a piggyback ride to help me focus on something else, and we get out just fine!

3. Would you and your F/O go apple picking? Which apples do you two like most?

absolutely!! Hmmm, I like Honeycrisp apples, and Klaus likes Macintosh!

4. Do you and your F/O enjoy hayrides? I like them, but Klaus loves them! I can’t understand why.it’s because I fall over a lot since its bumpy so I cling to him and he thinks it’s cute

5. What do you and your F/O think about carving pumpkins? Would you two carve a silly face or a more scary one?   mmmm, both of us are pretty meh about it, but we’ll both work together and carve one to make our porch look all pretty! I insist on putting the :3c face on it, and Klaus adds the eyebrows so we have >:3c on our pumpkin!

6. The absolute favorite thing to do during the fall season with your F/O?honestly? just napping together.Klaus and I have a hammock out on our back porch, so we’ll pile pillows and blankets on and star gaze while we both drift off. Klaus doesn’t get many quiet moments at work, so though he like going out and doing things, he really appreciates slowing down and just- enjoying each others company.

7. Does your F/O enjoy fall flavored drinks, such as pumpkin spice? NOPE. he drinks his favorite tea, and water, he will try other things but, he just doesn’t end up liking it!

8. Do you two watch scary movies together? What scary movies do Y'all watch? 

Mhm, I’m the one that’ll ask if we can watch em!! and then get scared!!! Right off!! so I hide my face in Klaus’s arm the whole time lol

Aizawa was good at keeping injuriesto a minimum. He was stealthy and silent, able to take down villains within afew seconds before anything could get too bad, but sometimes they got thebetter of him. Sometimes they were more vicious or capable than the undergroundhero had previously thought, or sometimes they just got a good couple hits inby chance.

Like tonight… He was lucky. Thevillain hadn’t done too much damage to require a trip to the hospital, and theywere still defeated and put into police custody, but Aizawa knew he lookedawful. He felt awful.

His entire back felt like one giantbruise from being thrown off a roof and cuts covered his arms and legs, theworst of which being one on his left calf. His face probably was a mess of purpleskin and he knew he had some swelling because his right eye’s vision wasgetting thinner and blurrier at the edges. He could feel his heart beat throughhis whole body, a painful, echoing pulse.

When he had finally managed to gethome after his patrol he was met with a bit of a conundrum. In the past, when avillain got the better of him, he would collapse in his apartment, uncaringwhere, and pass out. He knew he needed to dress his wounds, he knew he shouldtake painkillers and eat something and sleep somewhere more comfortable thanthe floor or the couch, but these thoughts rarely mattered in the moment. Sure,he would know logically he should do these things, but it always felt more likea distant voice, a forgotten memory, telling him to do so and he would end upjust falling asleep anyway, body more convincing than the mind.

But nowadays things were different.Nowadays he didn’t have to only rely on himself until Hizashi or Nemuriappeared during the day to finally get him moving and working on tending to hiswounds. Nowadays he wasn’t alone anymore.

Which is how he finds himselfsitting in the Midoriya apartment at four in the morning, head lowered inexhaustion, Inko quietly fretting over him. He felt bad for waking her up. Shemay not have work tomorrow, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t want to rest, andAizawa hated that he was taking that away from her.

“I am sorry for this,Midoriya-san,” he says, his voice raspy, when Inko returns with a washcloth.The woman doesn’t hesitate as she pulls a chair forward and begins to wipe offsome of the grime from the man’s face.

“I don’t want any apologies,” shesays quietly. They didn’t really need to be quiet, Izuku wasn’t there, he wassleeping over at his explosive friend’s house… The literally explosive one, notthe explosively loud, redheaded one. But the atmosphere was such that speakingtoo loudly seemed inappropriate. “I want you to come to me when you need me.”

Aizawa’s expression doesn’t change,it hardly can with how much his face hurts, and he watches his neighbor quietly.Her touch is gentle and patient, cleaning up wounds with as little pain aspossible. He hardly even flinches, and the silence makes him drowsy despite theache.

He felt bad for waking up Inko, buthe also felt grateful. He knew he could trust her, knew she would always bethere to help. He didn’t know what he had done in his life to deserve theMidoriyas, but he didn’t think he could ever give them up. He had never had afamily like this before. Hizashi and Nemuri were close, but Inko and Izuku weresomething else entirely.

“Thank you,” he says quietly asInko begins to patch him up, wrapping up his arms and legs. He has to take offhis shirt and scarf and roll up his pants legs, but none of it feels awkward.Little made Aizawa feel awkward anyway, but Inko just was able to let out acalming aura with everything she did, so long as she wasn’t worrying up a storm.

“Of course,” the woman says,pausing just long enough so she can catch Aizawa’s eye and smile at him. “It’sa mother’s job to look after her boys.”

Aizawa lets out a long sigh, headlowering. “I’m never going to live that down, am I?” he questions roughly andInko quickly fetches him a glass of water, which feels like heaven on histhroat. It hadn’t been all that long ago that he’d accidentally called Inko“mom,” and no one had forgotten it. Izuku had even begun calling him“Aizawa-nii” regularly, which he still wasn’t sure how how he felt about that.

“I truly am honored,” Inko saysquietly, turning back to her work, a small smile on her face, and Aizawa goesback to watching her. “You’re a wonderful young man,” she explains, using herquirk to float over another roll of gauze for his leg. “You’re strong, devoted,brave, and you look after Izuku, too. You have… terrible self care habits,” herface twists a little and Aizawa smirks at her irritation. “I want to help youovercome them. I want to see you succeed and do well and behealthy. I want my home to be a place you feel safe.”

One of Inko’s hands falls ontoAizawa’s knee, making him look up at her again. He was beginning to fade, hisbody relaxing and his nerves calming, sleep scratching at his eyelids.

“I do not know what your family waslike growing up,” the woman says and distant, empty memories flash in his headof coming back to his family’s apartment and not seeing it as a home, just aplace to sleep. Of being alone for hours and hours on end after school. Ofhaving all his needs met, save for parents that actually cared about him orwhat he was doing. “But I would like to think you’re part of our family now.”

Inko stands – she’s just about donewith the wounds now – and Aizawa turns his tired eyes up at her. “You don’thave to see me as your mother, but know that I have no issue with it, and that itwould make me proud to call you my son,” she smiles a bit brighter, “And Izukulooks up to you more than you realize. You make an excellent older brother.”Aizawa snorts, lowering his head and shaking out some of his hair. 

“Never really wanted a littlesibling,” he half jokes, his voice distant, uncertain how else he is supposedto respond, and Inko hums, helping adjust his hair some for him.

“Most kids don’t, but you get oneanyway,” she whispers and suddenly there’s a pressure on the top of Aizawa’s head,an alien feeling yet somehow he still recognizes it and his eyes widen inshock. Inko presses a kiss to the crown of his head, like a mother to herchild’s, then leans away and smiles down at his dumbfounded expression. “Sleephere tonight. Izuku’s bed is empty and it will be better than that couch ofyours,” she says, nodding towards her son’s empty room, then pats down Aizawa’shair one more time. “And no matter what you decide to call us… Know that welove you, Shouta,” she nods to him, meaningful and loving, then turns and headsto clean up everything she had pulled out to tend to his wounds.

He watches her silently, his eyeswide, or as wide as they can be with one of them swollen, and when shedisappears into the kitchen, cupboards opening and closing, he shifts and facesforward once more. His elbows rest on his knees and his head hangs, shouldersslouched and back curled. Truly, meaningfully kind words were difficult for himto swallow sometimes. He could deal with shallow ones, or playful ones, therewere logical responses to all of those, but this? This was not familiar groundfor him.

Despite the uncertainty, however,he felt… good. Loved. Like part of a family he hadn’t realized he’d beenmissing.

He smiles to himself, gathering uphis shirt and capture weapon, and very carefully stands. He was exhausted and,with the help of his neighbor and a safe place to rest, he was sure he would begetting some good sleep this time around.

Before he heads towards Izuku’sempty room to pass out, he tilts his head back towards where he still hearsInko rummaging around, and speaks softly so only he can hear it. He would sayit out loud to her honestly one day, just not today.

“Thank you, mom.”
