Once a Hero.

-Prologue-

Danny Phantom fought with the knowledge that at any given time he could be stricken dead. With the knowledge that his own parents, the people who brought him into this world, could be the ones to take him out permanently. The Job was already half done after all.

But no matter what, no matter his adversaries, Danny held strong. Despite the constant threat of the GIW and his parents, despites his rogues’ shenanigans and Vlad’s scheming, despite the citizen’s ungratefulness, he held his ground. Always staying true to his beliefs.

Yes, he made mistakes ,terrible ones. Yes, he has done things he would forever be ashamed of. But he never let others take responsibility for his actions. The very proof being his existence as Phantom.

There is no denying it, Danny Phantom/Fenton is a hero.

An existence to whom every victory comes hand to hand with tragedy.

An existence favored by fate.

And fate is known to be a cruel mistress.

He should have known something was up. It was too good to be true. He should have trusted his instinct. But he ignored it, choosing hope instead of the very thing that kept him alive all these years. All it took was one mistake for everything to domino into a nuclear warhead that quite literally took his everything.

And now, there he is on all four in the middle of a crater of what once was Amity Park and its surroundings. His ears ringing only able to hear the sounds of his own screams.

The once menace, once protector of a city too soon departed wailed in agony. Clutching at his wounds with a strength that reopened his sloppily made stitches. His devastated wails, only interrupted by his sobbed breath and hiccups. His throat was ripped to shreds, tainted ectoplasm pooling into his mouth and lungs while some got projected out with each wail.

Rivers of tears cascaded down his face burning his already bloodshot eyes. His unstable form glitching from ghost to human to something in between.

His once healthy balanced core was now struggling to remain whole. Cracks appearing all over, life and death fighting to preserve their precious Halfa’s existence. Danny felt his body and core beginning to give out. His consciousness finally fading. His body slowly being engulfed into the cold familiar embrace of death.

He fell on his back. His wails dying to choked wet sobs and coughs. Through his tears, Danny could only vaguely see the smoke covered nightsky. Ash falling slowly around him like snowflakes.

He could feel the cold creeping up his limbs then gripping his chest. His already dying heart being embraced by a type of cold even his core couldn’t dream to reproduce. Phantom finally fell silent, his unseeing eyes staring at the starless sky above.

Danny in his last few coherent thoughts felt the pain of his core shattering and reforming itself. It felt like his entire being was set on fire before being melded back together. He felt familiar arms cradling him close to their unbeating heart. The familiar ticking of a clock luring him into a dreamless rest.

Flynn shook his head, trying to clear the cobwebs and properly process the situation he found himself in. Held captive. In a chair. Bound to it with hair and, oh, bloody hell.

“I’m sorry–what?” he half scoffed, confusion melting into frustration.

Something shifted in the shadows and he sat back, waiting, anticipating, heart hammering in his chest until you stepped out into the sliver of sunlight falling in from the window above.

“Who are you and how did you find me?” you worked hard to keep your voice level, frying pan still held in your hands, wanting to make damn sure this man knew who he was dealing with.

But this man. Oh, this man was in trouble now.

Mouth dropped open in a little ‘o’ his brows softened and the tiniest breath pushed from his lungs. Yes, it was an absolutely impossible amount of hair, but gods. You were unlike anyone he’d ever seen. In fact looking at you felt like getting hit over the head for a third time.

Ngl, I think my only real wish for the series is that at some point Aaravos and Stella have some sort of bonding moment.

The only two Startouch creatures that we really see on screen, one of which is a jailed war criminal and the other a tiny thieving gremlin.

What would be more adorable to see than our beloved touch starved elf snuggling with a cheeky little cuddle monkey? And I mean, just imagine all the mischief they could get into with each other.

It means a lot to know that there are people here interested in my little world that I created for the House of the Dragon fandom.

I was in the middle of writing a little fluff piece for the coming February/Feveruary that I'll be doing on my own. (Since I am doing House of Dragon and that has incest and is against the rules). But I am allowed to be inspired by the list and write away. So here's what I finished.

It's a standalone and more than seven sentences since most of it is dialogue.

“Rhagerys.” Aemond said more forcefully. “Hmm?” “What are you doing?” “S-sending a letter to Dragonstone.” Rhagerys lolled his head to look up at Aemond. “Why? What...do you think...I'm doing?” “I think you're lying on the floor of the rookery too sick to move.” “M'not sick.” Rhagerys muttered. Aemond scoffed at that. “I'm...tired.” Rhagerys barely got out. “Then you should be in bed. Resting.” Aemond stated as he crossed his arms. “Am I...not resting?” ”Not here.” Aemond gently reprimanded. “The ravens are keeping me company.” Rhagerys countered as he curled back up. “The ravens are shitting on you.” Aemond said with exasperation. “Now you are going to need a bath.” Rhagerys turned his head to look at Aemond. He smiled the best he could. “Are you,” Rhagerys lightly pointed at Aemond. “going to join...me?” Rhagerys asked trying to lay on the charm. “You're sick.” Aemond flatly stated. “Didn't hear a 'no.'”

I've written 17 drabbles/one shots so far. 11 to go (with a bonus for the nonexistent 29th of February).

I'm not going to tag anyone. (I wouldn't know who to tag). But anyone that wants to do this, go for it. It is such a freeing feeling to put a piece of something you created out there.

barton being awkward at first or even completely throughout a whole interaction whenever he's trying to comfort people is so in character for him TBH and let me tell y'all why because i think it's important to his character:

he can fake a lot of things. barton can fake being nice to people, he can fake being innocent, and he can even fake having a much stronger sense of morality around people if he wants to — but whenever it comes to empathizing with someone on an emotional level... barton finds himself often struggling with faking it because of the nature of it. and this is due to it being different than whenever he's trying to feign something easily comprehensible like innocence. but empathy is something that's usually viewed as innate in us as humans and has to do with love, which doesn't depend on logic. it's something that comes from within, so it doesn't have clear parameters as to how you should do it, so whenever barton tries to fake it in the event that he's trying to make someone feel better; he'll stumble. and so although barton can cognitively empathize with someone, his efforts to actually put himself in other people's shoes fall flat, as he just can't physically imagine himself being in someone else's position probably more than half the time.

so if your muse were to ever come to him seeming upset, barton would likely not know what to do / how to comfort them, at least for a bit before referencing back on how he's seen other people do it. because i hate to say it (i don't, in reality, but y'all know what i mean LOL) but barton does actively mimic behaviors that he sees people do whenever he feels the absence of a certain emotion. he especially does this whenever he's trying to appear charming to other people, but like i said, he'll also try to use what he's seen his peers do as a guide as for what he should do in regards to empathy. and sometimes he may even seem a bit flustered before he's able to do this because he knows that it is expected of him to be able to empathize with people and can identify it in other people BUT knowing how to approach faking it has always been sort of hard for him even as an adult.

but yeahhh, that's just my own two cents about how barton sometimes break character that he is quote unquote ' normal, ' though he does try to mask this around people who aren't really familiar with him as simply being social awkwardness. however, it is part of a larger thing with him as despite the fact that he can blend in with the population REALLY well and also is pretty good at manipulating others, i suppose you could say that barton is still not an expert at ' constructing empathy ' because whenever someone is visibly hurt in front of him... he is more liable to act like he isn't sure what to do, than to put on an act immediately since he is likely to feel nothing first before anything else. and i realize that that is a rather unsettling thought, but i think that he is a lot more suspectible to doing this with people he doesn't know well / who he isn't particularly close to, as he's got a lot more practice with being falsely empathetic towards friends and/or sometimes even family members.

guess whose back from an unannounced hiatus (once again)

so yeah hiiiiiii its been a really long while since i've posted art (art block and burnout was hitting hard) and i finally managed to get back into the groove of making art once more, but i'm going slow and not super detailed for now as to not give myself burnout again so soon

but during the time i was inactive, i was messing around with my art style again and decided to go back to a more cartoony/cutesy way of drawing bodies again instead of attempting realistic proportions again (and also because i have more fun with this type instead of consistently stressing myself over how to get accurate anatomy and not have it look weird accidentally). and on top of that, Momoko's story is also being rewritten so that i can get started on remaking the comic again!!! yipppeeeeee!!!!
