I really wonder if people are going to think I'm obsessed with turtles - I showed an earlier progress picture to another teacher at school and he joked that there was a theme with me since I made our class charter look like a turtle and had the whole class make origami turtles on the first days

An Adventure of a Lifetime
An Adventure of a Lifetime
~An adventure of a lifetime~
This was the tagline used to advertise Poacher Jamboree back in 2017. I’d always wanted to take part in a Jamboree but they were all so far away and my Guide units just didn’t do them. That was how I found myself staring at the sign up page for volunteers, wondering whether I could actually do this all by myself. I signed up almost on a whim, entering in my meal…

Girlguiding is joined Children in Need this year with the #ActYourAge challenge where you do something the number of years old you are.
So I've challenged myself to crochet 22 wee turtles - because why not? It's not like I have loads of other stuff to do right now 😂
I've completed the first three and made the shell for my Pudsey-themed turtle (because I naturally have to make a Pudsey turtle, it's for Children in Need!)

Exploring the Coast!
Tumblr media
Back in July, I finally did my exploration for Queens Guide. I decided to look into the development of coastal towns near the lake district: what they used to be like, how things had changed, and what they’re like now. We looked at Silloth, Maryport, Allonby and Workington, and it was just an incredible experience. Investigating Maryport lighthouse #notamodel I got to learn all about the…

Another part of week 1 in Guiding at Hame!
This was my attempt at the Binary Bling. The challenge was to create a piece of jewellery that said something in binary. The guidance gave a decoder sheet but I chose instead to use a text to binary translator online.
I also don't wear a lot of jewellery (at least not outside of my wee silver necklace or my ace ring) so I decided instead to make a keyring.
The binary spells out three different words in the beads.
Blue = 0
White = 1
Red = spaces between letters (1 bead) or words (2 beads)
Basically the first word is the one closest to the clasp and then it goes down. The split is there because the first word starts both phrases. (Just in case anyone wants to try deciphering my 'bling', haha)

I'm taking part in Guiding at Hame (not a typo, it's Scots) that Girlguiding Scotland released for people to do during quarantine. I'm a bit behind as I only found out about it from another leader during our Rainbows meeting last week but I'm catching up. I've already done two activities from week 1 and 2 from week 2. But I want to share some of what I’m doing here.
One of the activities from week 1 was Rainbow Challenge 2.0 where we had to create a rainbow using things from around the house. Now I have A LOT of loom bands so I decided to dig them out and look up a tutorial for a rainbow. This was actually pretty fun because it was hook-only and very similar to crochet. It is now pinned up on my corkboard because it doesn’t sit flat very well (it curls around into a circle).
