like girl they had met TWICE before this and like 60-70% of what she knows about Tesilid is from what she READ. it's like if you lost contact w your childhood crush but they became an idol and you became their fan and you fell in love with what you read about them on fanposts or whatever. i mean it's a little different because idols have public personas and the novel's narration isn't postured, but you get the idea ! a lot of her affection is bound up by the fact that she journeyed with him through those rounds by reading about it over and over; but she wasn't really there with him, not really. he certainly wasn't aware that she was watching and his experiences do differ from what she knows.
