Episode 10 Queen of Tears BaekHong recap
Scene: Unboxing champion boxer Baek Hyun Woo
We could’ve gotten another topless scene of Baek Hyun Woo in all of his glory but he stopped it. It is official that Hyun Woo is the party pooper in this series. He keeps being the one who blocked us from getting something worthy of humna, humna, humna… Hyun Woo thought that Hae In was angry at him for getting hurt because she raised her voice but she was only worried for him. He didn’t realise this until he saw that Hae In almost cried because of him. Only then he knew that Hae In was mad because she was worried about him. Hyun Woo was trying to brag to Hae In about his boxing skill and the fight he had with the broker but instead she is not impressed. She asks him to promise to run away if he ever encounters the same situation again but he can’t make a promise, he had a previous arrangement with himself about Hae In. But Hae In reminds him yet again that they have divorced and only a married couple is bound to make a promise for their partner. They divorced so that they don’t need to do that. Hyun Woo was saddened again by her statement and was rendered speechless.
Scene: Strawberry pops past, present and future
Hae In applied ointment and bandage on Hyun Woo’s scratched face and probably for once in a long time, he felt happy that Hae In blatantly cared for him. Previously, she did care for him but it was all done without his knowledge. It was that easy to show that she cared for him but because of their pride, they never had a chance or actually found the chance to do it for each other. They had a talk on the bench in front of Yongduri Supermarket and they probably remembered the last time they had a talk at the same place while eating the strawberry pops. At that time, Hyun Woo made a promise to always stay by her side even though she had a debt and that promise was the one that made her believe that he was the only one for her. So, it was significant for them to finally analyse what went wrong with them during their marriage.
Hyun Woo is regretting the way they never communicate properly throughout the marriage and how they let their wounds fester without making an effort to treat it. But Hae In thinks differently, she thinks that they were never a good match and they could’ve saved their energy and time without getting hurt if they broke up around the time she first ate the strawberry pops in Yongduri. In that way, they would be able to cherish their happy memories for a long time and they would never have a chance for wounds or scars to form. Hyun Woo would be able to marry someone that is warmer, kinder and better than her (he specifically clenched his fist when she said this sentence). Hyun Woo doesn’t agree with her and said that he will always regret it a lot if they broke up in the past, he knew that he won’t easily forget her. Hae In argues that if he knew what would happen in the future, he wouldn’t make the same choice and Hyun Woo assures her that even if he knew what will happen to them, he will still make the same decision (to marry her) instead he will treat her differently. He would have asked her and checked in on her more often. He regrets that he never makes an effort to understand and care for her more often. We saw that they actually care for each other but their timing is always off and they ended up seeing each other’s back.
Scene: Jealous Hyun Woo is back
Hyun Woo found out that YES came by Yongduri the previous night and was bothered by the fact that Hae In did not mention it to him. He asks Hae In about him and is getting annoyed after hearing about the content of their conversation, especially about living together in the Queens mansion. Hae In is slowly getting worked up by his reaction and argues that she and Hyun Woo are also not together and yet they still live in the same house. She thinks that everything he has done for them is more than enough, she feels uncomfortable with him going above and beyond for her. She tells him that she knew about him being accused of malpractice and waiting to be assigned. He tells her that it’s nothing and she is in no position to worry about him. Hae In said that she will manage her own problem and that she is uncomfortable with him having to suffer because of her, she doesn’t want him to do anything because of her and she will have her own solution to her problem.
Again? I thought they already agreed to communicate properly. They are protecting each other behind their backs again. As usual, Hyun Woo didn’t get her entire point. She just wants him to not get dragged into her family’s problem while he is exposed to danger. YES blackmailed her and she is scared that Hyun Woo will be put in danger and she doesn’t want that. She knows that Hyun Woo will do anything and everything for her, so she needs to stop him from doing that so that she can protects him.
Scene: Bong Ae is the best MIL
She confronted Hyun Woo when she overheard Hae In during a phone call. There is one part that is lost in the translation, but when Bong Ae refers to Hae In, she calls her as “your wife, Hae In-ie is sick right?” to Hyun Woo. YES should’ve heard this line so that his inside will boil with anger. Anyway… Hyun Woo was quite surprised when his mother confronted him with the question, but he decided that his mom needed to know because she will need someone to care for her when he is not at home. When his mom knew about the reason he was delaying the divorce process, she was disappointed in him and felt sorry for Hae In. Where in the world could we ever find someone as good as Bong Ae as a MIL. No wonder Hyun Woo has such a big and kind heart, it all came from his lovely mother. He accepts that he is the scumbag for doing that to Hae In and that is why he is always listening to Hae In and would follow whatever Hae In’s decision, because he doesn't deserve her or her forgiveness.
Scene: I’m Sorry, I Hate You, I Love You
Hae In comes to Queens Group to attend the press conference arranged by YES. Hae In is risking it all for Baek Hyun Woo. She only attends the press conference to save Hyun Woo from being falsely accused by YES and she wants to make sure that YES would have nothing against her that he could use as a weakness. A power move from our most powerful Hong Hae In. When she reveals the blackmail she receives from YES to her confession about her illness, she was solely doing it with Baek Hyun Woo in her mind. Finally, and finally Hyun Woo got the message. He finally got a glimpse of hope for them, Hae In is showing him something that she had never shown before to anyone, and he is the only one who gets to receive that. Hyun Woo had tears in his eyes and he looked at her with utmost love, admiration and sadness. He knew then that their heart belongs to each other, they are doing everything just to protect each other from harm.
Epilogue: Baek Hyun Woo’s special move, drunk in cuteness
Hyun Woo confides in his brother because he feels sad that Hae In said she doesn’t want him to do anything for her and that she is uncomfortable with his efforts for her. He is confused with Hae In’s real feelings as she keeps giving him mixed signals. At first she was worried for him and put a band-aid on him, but the next time she told him that he is making her uncomfortable. Although I want to say that Hyun Woo is too slow again, it's actually not. He is just not confident with himself, he could never imagine that Hae In would easily forgive him and wanted the same thing as him; to get back together again.
When he was plucking the leaves once again, I just immediately thought that he was finally asking the right question to his universe (Hong Hae In). That’s why he got the answer that he wanted this time and he was drunkenly happy with the thought that Hae In likes him. When he confesses to Hae In’s door unknowing that she is on the other side, he is overwhelmed with his own feelings. He is finally ready and admitting to his feelings, he loves her. He loves her to the point that it was so hard to contain it to himself anymore. He was back to when he first fell for her, but this time is different. Because now, he realises the weight of the word; love. He had forgotten about his feelings for her once and to hold the weight of their love again, he needs certainty from both of them so that they will be able to really stay together forever. He probably had saved that word ever since her love confession when she had lost her memory of Germany.
I was crying when I saw Hae In’s disbelief expression for the love confession. She could not believe that he said that he loves her. His sincerity was loud and clear without her having to see his face. She is certain that this time, his love is honest and comes from the bottom of his heart. That’s why she was able to make the decision to participate in the press conference. She believes in their love now. But of course, their fate will not be easy on them.

9 Times We Had a Serious Case of Second Lead Syndrome
When your heart aches for the second lead 😭
K-dramas usually have us rooting for the main leads, but every once in a while there’ll be a swoon-worthy second lead who’ll make our hearts ache. These second leads appear to be the better match in our eyes, but the main lead gets selected instead, much to our frustration. Check out some impressive second leads who swayed our hearts and had us cheering for them here.
Han Ji-pyeong | Start-Up
Start-Up is the latest drama to be buzzing with second lead syndrome. From the first episode, Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho)’s heart-wrenching story makes you wish for his happiness. As an orphan, he had nowhere to go until kind grandmother Choi Won-deok (Kim Hae-sook) helped him out. He’s the real author behind the letters that Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy) found much comfort and love in. While he has a tough exterior, Ji-pyeong goes out of his way to help Dal-mi and her grandmother. He’s got such a soft heart hidden beneath his cold words.
Kim Jung-hwan | Reply 1988
Reply 1988 had us guessing the identity of Sung Deok-sun (Lee Hye-ri)’s husband until the end of the series. The older version of her husband seemed pretty grumpy, so most assumed the husband would be Kim Jung-hwan (Ryu Jun-yeol). After all, Deok-sun and Jung-hwan clearly had feelings for one another. Jung-hwan was so cute to watch as he secretly doted on Deok-sun. Unfortunately, Jung-hwan couldn’t confess in time. While his character didn’t end up with the girl, actors Lee Hye-ri and Ryu Jun-yeol became a real life couple!
Goo Dong-mae | Mr. Sunshine
In Mr. Sunshine, there are actually three men who care about leading lady Go Ae-shin (Kim Tae-ri). However, Goo Dong-mae (Yoo Yeon-seok) is the one who incites second lead syndrome. They share a special history due to Ae-shin helping save Dong-mae’s life when they were children. Dong-mae has very intense feelings for Ae-shin which he struggles to admit. Ultimately, he does whatever he can to ensure her safety and wellbeing.
Baek In-ho | Cheese in the Trap
The main lead of Cheese in the Trap, You Jeong (Park Hae-jin), is a bit hard to root for. He hides his true nature from people, but Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) sees through his facade. Jeong’s twisted and manipulative personality begins to affect Seol, but he suddenly becomes nice and asks her out. While she’s still trying to figure him out, second lead Baek In-ho (Seo Kang-jun) enters the picture. He’s much more normal and caring, which makes us want Seol to pick him instead.
Han U-Tak | While You Were Sleeping
While You Were Sleeping has a strong likeable male lead in Jeong Jae-chan (Lee Jong-suk), but swoon-worthy Han U-tak (Jung Hae-in) definitely gives us second lead syndrome. U-tak develops feelings for Nam Hong-ju (Bae Suzy) as the three of them work to prevent tragedies. U-tak is a true gentleman and never makes Hong-ju feel uncomfortable due to his feelings. He’s always there for her, looks hot in uniform, and has such an adorable smile.
Go Cheong-myeong | Hotel Del Luna
Hotel Del Luna shows Go Cheong-myeong (Lee Do-hyun) and Koo Chan-sung (Yeo Jin-goo) as Jang Man-wol (IU)’s love interests. What made Cheong-myeong such a strong second lead was their sad love story that began over a thousand years ago. Man-wol was unaware of how everything Cheong-myeong did was to help spare her life. While she wondered if Chan-sung was the reincarnation of her first love Cheong-myeong, Cheong-myeong had actually been by her side all those years.
Baek Gyeong | Extraordinary You
Extraordinary You’s second lead, Baek Gyeong (Lee Jae-wook), seems like a bad boy jerk at first. While he is the destined romantic partner for Eun Dan-o (Kim Hye-yoon) in their comic book world, Dan-o fights against her fate to find her own true love. However, even after Gyeong realizes the truth about their world, he finds himself still caring for Dan-o. Eventually, he wants Dan-o to feel free to be herself, so he let’s her go. While we’re happy for Dan-o, we can’t help but wish for a happier ending for Gyeong.
Kim Shin-hyuk | She Was Pretty
She Was Pretty stars the always lovable Park Seo-jun, but the character Shin-hyuk (Choi Si-won) gives us major second lead syndrome. Hye-jin (Hwang Jung-eum) goes unrecognized by her childhood friend Sung-joon (Park Seo-jun), but Shin-hyuk sees past her appearance and likes her for who she is from the beginning. Plus, he’s super charming and goofy, never failing to make Hye-jin smile. Shin-hyuk loves Hye-jin just as she is and loves her freckles and frizzy hair to boot.
In Guk-doo | Strong Girl Bong-soon
Do Bong-soon (Park Bo-young) crushes on In Guk-doo (Ji Soo) in Strong Girl Bong-soon for the longest time. Guk-doo is always concerned for Bong-soon and makes her safety a priority. Unfortunately, Guk-doo doesn’t express that he also has feelings for Bong-soon in time which leads Bong-soon to fall in love with Ahn Min-hyuk (Park Hyung-sik). Guk-doo is heartbroken at his missed timing, but he ends up having a cute bromance with Min-hyuk.
Which characters gave you the biggest case of second lead syndrome? Check out all of these shows, and more, on Netflix!

Kdramas to watch when Extraordinary You ends
Itazura Na Kiss-
Kotoko Aihara (Honoka Miki) isn't very intelligent and lacks ability in school. She is in class F, the least intelligent class in her grade. Despite this, she has been in love with the school's most handsome and most intelligent guy, Naoki Irie (Yuki Furukawa), ever since she saw him give a speech at the high school entrance ceremony.
In her third year of high school, she writes him a love letter but is rejected instantly. She is crushed to see her letter was not even looked at and decides to give up on the jerk who rejected her without even reading it. On the same day, Kotoko's house is hit by a shooting star and collapses. As it is being rebuilt, her dad gets a phone call from his longtime friend and is invited to stay with them. When she arrives, she is in shock to see that this is the house of Naoki Irie and his family. Although he shows a cold attitude, she realizes she can't help but love him. What will happen when fate takes over, and Kotoko's chance of winning Naoki's heart falls in her hands?
Personal Review: 12/10
If you secretly wanted Dan Oh to end up with Kyung, you will definitely love to see how our herione melts the icy exterior of the male lead
My Little Princess-
Lin Xing Chen has everything in life. She is rich, beautiful, and adored by all. She is also cursed with the fate that any man she likes will not like her back. She begins a difficult journey to win the heart of a rich heir. Standing in her way to a happily-ever-after is a sweet, compassionate but poor girl and a smart, multitalented but poor boy.
Personal review: 8/10
An innocent and soft story that is very similar to Extraordinary You, with a little extra cheese
Legend Of The Blue Sea-
The television series centers on the love story of Heo Joon-jae (Lee Min-ho), the son of a rich businessman who becomes a clever con-man after his parents' divorce, and a mermaid named Shim Cheong (Jun Ji-hyun). Focusing on rebirth, fate, and unrequited love, their tale is juxtaposed with the parallel story of their Joseon era incarnations, town head Kim Dam-ryeong and the mermaid Se-hwa.
Personal review: 9/10
A little bit of magic and a whole lot of comedy. Our main herione carries this drama on her amazingly strong shoulder
Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo-
Kim Bok-Joo (Lee Sung-Kyung) is a promising collegiate female weightlifter. Her father runs a small chicken restaurant and her uncle wants to become an actor. She has a bright personality and strong sense of justice. Kim Bok-Joo and her friends on the female weightlifting team are not popular with the guys and they don't have boyfriends. The weightlifting team and the rhythmic gymnastic team also don't get along at all.
Meanwhile, Jung Joon-Hyung (Nam Joo-Hyuk) is a collegiate swimmer plagued with numerous false start disqualifications. He is 21-years-old and has a free spirit. His uncle and aunt raised him along with his cousin Jung Jae-Yi (Lee Jae-Yoon).
One day on campus, Kim Bok-Joo bumps into Jung Joon-Hyung while he is riding his bicycle. Her face looks familiar to Jung Joon-Hyung. After he leaves, Kim Bok-Joo picks up a handkerchief left behind by Jung Joon-Hyung. The handkerchief is very important to him and he begins looking for it.
Personal review: 100/10
Not your usual herione of you average, but Bok Joo is someone that captures your heart immediately. Also the main couple has the best chemistry together
School 2017-
The plot follows a class of high school students attempting to overcome the stress of being ranked by their exam grades, and facing the difficulties of being a teenager in a high-pressure, corrupt system. Its central protagonist is Ra Eun-ho (Kim Se-jeong), a cheerful and kind-hearted 18-year-old who dreams of being a webtoon artist but is caught up in the search for a mysterious troublemaker in the school, known as 'Student X'. When she is accused of being Student X, her dream of going to university to study art is put at risk as she faces expulsion. Hyun Tae Woon (Kim Jung-hyun) is the son of the director of the school who enjoys his youth but hides deep scars. Song Dae Hwi (Jang Dong-yoon) is a bright student who's ranked 1st everytime but doesn't have enough money for his dream college
Personal review: 7/10
A cute coming g of age drama that's a lighthearted watch
W two worlds-
Cardiothoracic surgeon Oh Yeon Joo's father mysteriously went missing while writing the last chapter of his webtoon "W". Yeon Joo goes to his office and is shocked to see a scene of a bloodied Kang Cheol, the main character of W, on her father's monitor. While reading something left behind by her father, a hand from the monitor pulled her in. She found herself on the rooftop of a building, next to a man lying down in blood. She manages to save him and realizes that the person she saved was Kang Cheol. She later discovers she can only enter and leave the webtoon depending on Kang Cheol's feelings.
Personal review: 9/10
A different perspective of the webtoon world with the perspective of the author taken in. Also who doesnt love Lee Jong Suk
Cheese in the trap-
The drama focuses on the life and relationships of a group of university students, particularly the difficult relationship between Hong Seol (Kim Go-eun) and her sunbae, or her senior, Yoo Jung (Park Hae-jin).
Jung is the rich heir to Taerang Group and seemingly has a perfect life, but also displays psychopathic tendencies, which cause Seol to take time off school to get away from him. When she returns through a scholarship that was intended for Jung, he is unexpectedly nice to her and asks her on a date. They begin an awkward relationship which is further complicated by the arrival of Baek In-ho and his sister In-ha, childhood friends of Jung and her finding out he is wealthy.
Personal review: Actually never watched it because I dont like open endings but watch at your own risk :)

My 2 cents worth on Kdramas
So, earlier this year (2018) my 12-year-old granddaughter turned me on to Kdramas.
Started out with 'Boys over Flowers' in January and we're still arguing about which one of the guys Jan-Di should have ended up with....Gu Jun-Pyo or Yoon Ji-Hoo. Since I'm a sucker for the whole Soul Mate thing (been married to my own soul mate for over 30 years) and Ji-Hoo became my favorite right from the start, I actually wasn't too happy with the way things turned out in the end.
But that's all beside the point and the only thing that matters is that it only took this one series to get me completely and absolutely "hooked" on Kdramas.
Since Kim Hyun Joong became my first favorite as Ji-Hoo, I started looking up other parts he starred in and came across 'Inspiring Generation'. Wow! What a difference! The character of Shin Jung-Tae is just about as opposite of Ji-Hoo as it can possibly get. But I guess that's what makes a truly great actor, and Kim Hyun Joong was simply amazing playing the part....even though it bothered me to see that handsome face getting beat up way too much.
But then it was also 'Inspiring Generation' where I found what would become my next favorite...Song Jae Rim, in the character of Mo Il-Hwa.
I can't quite pinpoint what it was that endeared me to that part, but of course I had to once again look for other Kdramas, featuring Song Jae Rim. And that's when I came across 'Moon embracing the Sun' with Song Jae Rim as the King's swordsman, Woon.
Absolutely loved Jae Rim in that part and still do, even after having watched the entire series about a dozen times by now. I also liked Song Jae Rim in 'Goodbye Mr. Black', even though his wasn't a main character role, but didn't care much for the part of a hitman/killer Mr. Kim he played in 'Two Weeks' since I really don't like my favs playing "bad guys". Of course, watching 'Two Weeks' made me find another new favorite...Lee Joon Gi
Okay, so I just said I don't like my favs playing "bad guys", but the main character, Jang Tae-San, isn't really a bad "bad guy" and if that story doesn't tear up your heart, then you better check if you still have one.
I actually had to do something I usually NEVER do...about half-way through the series I had to watch the final episode to see how it turns out, just so my old nerves could take watching the rest of the story. Yeah, I know...terrible, isn't it? Don't worry, I got more than an earful about it from my granddaughter, and I promise to never do it again! ;)
But while I thought that it could not possibly get any better than Lee Joon Gi's performance in 'Two Weeks', I quickly found out that I was wrong when I watched 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo' next. OH, MY...!!! Not only is Joon Gi with long hair pure eye-candy (to me at least), but he absolutely nailed the part of Prince Wang So.
Ladies, how many of you were ready to strangle Wang So's mother with your bare hands. I definitely was! And what's the big deal about that scar? I guess it's because Princes had to be "perfect", but come on... Scars are just proof that you were stronger than whatever or whoever it was that tried to kill you. And apparently back then the phrase "chicks dig scars" was unheard of. And also apparently I'm not the only one who wasn't happy at all with the way the story ended, considering there are numerous fan videos on YouTube with different, happier endings. I got more than just a little upset with Hae Soo for leaving Wang So. How could she not see that he was trying his best to NOT become some blood-thirsty tyrant??
Anyway, after only about 3 days of some serious editing work, the final episode in my own DVD collection of 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo' has a much happier ending now...many thanks to Daria Zyuzina who created the wonderful fan video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oj0r9zE5Le8) where Wang So finds Hae Soo in the future. And like so many other fans, I'm also still hoping for a Season 2 with this kind of scenario.
On another note to 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo'... aside from the despicable character of Queen Yoo (Prince Wang So's mother, who treats him like s**t), my other least-favorite character is Prince Wang Yo (Wang So's biological brother, and also a son of Queen Yoo). However, while I hated the character, actor Hong Jong Hyun did an excellent job portraying the mean, spiteful, conniving 3rd Prince. But if you're like me, you would much more enjoy seeing Hong Jong Hyun in the role of Wang Rin in 'The King in Love'
or, even better, as Seo Chan Hwi, the vice-commander of the Royal Guard in 'Jeon Woo Chi'
(that is, if you can get into things like wizards and magic and tolerate some occasionally slightly over-done special effects of people flying through the air and such...BUT at least in 'Jeon Woo Chi' ONLY the wizards have that ability, unlike in some of the Chinese dramas where seemingly anybody can have such super-human abilities...if you ever watched 'General and I', you might understand what I'm talking about... I couldn't make it past a trailer that had a fight scene between Chu Beijie and He Xia, but that's just me, I guess).
As far as wizards and magic are concerned, however, I did very much enjoy the ones in 'Mirror of the Witch' aka 'Secret Healer' and my favorite character there ended up being the Taoist Yo Gwang, played by Lee Yi Kyung.
Don't ask me why, I just found him adorable (maybe because he was so awkward, dealing with the girl Soon Deuk who clearly has a crush on him). SPOILER ALERT -- 'Mirror of the Witch' has a rather bitter-sweet ending!
I want to get back to Lee Joon Gi for a moment since I just finished the 'Lawless Lawyer' series....which is an excellent nail-biter and I had to seriously restrain myself NOT TO watch the final episode first again. If you've seen it, tell me is it just me or did you think too that Joon Gi looked too skinny in that series? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying at all that he looked "bad" in any way and his performance was awesome as usual...I just felt that he looked like he'd lost a whole bunch of weight and "celebrity life" was taking its toll on him. Kind of worries me, because I would definitely like to see him in many more future performances.
I still have some Lee Joon Gi binge-watching left over for now, since the only other movies and series I made it through so far were 'Iljimae', 'Arang and the Magistrate', 'Gunman in Joseon' and of course 'The King and the Clown' (which was way too sad for my taste). But most likely 'Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo' will always be my absolute favorite and I'll keep hoping for a 2nd season...even though that will probably just remain wishful thinking for myself and many others, but we can always hope, right?
Some of my other favs I’d like to mention would be Kwak Dong Yeon as swordsman Kim Byung-Yeon in 'Moonlight drawn by Clouds' aka 'Love in the Moonlight'
and he also played an excellent part as young Shin Jung-Tae in 'Inspiring Generation'.
Then there is Seo In Guk for his outstanding performances as Prince Gwang-Hae in 'The King's Face'
and also as Lee Hyun / David Lee in 'I Remember You' aka 'Hello Monster'.
An excellent yet unfortunately somewhat overlooked performance of Kim Jae Young as Moo-Yeon in ‘100 Days my Prince’
And last (for now) but certainly not least is Jung Il Woo whose sad role as Prince Yang-Myung in 'Moon embracing the Sun' cost me plenty of tissues,
but required even more of them in 'The Return of Iljimae' (even though it has a happier ending for Jung Il Woo’s character)
I'll probably get "yelled at" for saying this, but I honestly have a hard time deciding whom I liked better...Lee Joon Gi as Iljimae in 'Iljimae: The Phantom Thief', or Jung Il Woo as Iljimae in 'The Return of Iljimae'. (Sorry, Joon Gi, but be assured that you'll still always be my #1 fav).
So, thanks to my granddaughter, back to some more binge-watching...hey, I got to blame someone else for things not getting done around the house, right? ;)

KDramas I Wanna Watch
Dramas recommended to me by friends and/or internet posts.
(Summaries aren’t mine)
1. She Was Pretty
Can you over-romanticize a cherished memory from childhood? Ji Sung Joon (Park Seo Joon) was a shy, porky kid who was constantly teased by the other kids for his rotund shape. When he transfers to a new school in fifth grade and meets Kim Hye Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), the prettiest, most popular girl in school, his life turns around. The kind-hearted Hye Jin becomes his only friend and protector — and they become each other’s first love. But then everything changes when Sung Joon’s family immigrates to the United States and then Hye Jin’s father’s business goes downhill, plunging her family from their previous wealthy lifestyle. But that’s not all! Hye Jin’s beautiful looks initially took after her mother. But as soon as Hye Jin hits puberty, her father’s genetic skin condition takes hold and leaves her with reddish facial scars that makes her resemble a raccoon. Fifteen years later, Sung Joon is a whole new person — dashing and handsome and a successful art director — who is transferred from New York to the Seoul office of “The Most” fashion magazine to work as the deputy chief editor. He tries to find his childhood friend, Hye Jin, again. But embarrassed by her current unglamorous appearance, Hye Jin passes off her best friend, the stunning Min Ha Ri (Go Jun Hee), as herself. But when Hye Jin is suddenly transferred to the magazine department at her new job to work as in intern under Sung Joon, how much longer can she keep her true identity a secret?
2. Descendants of the Sun
Some relationships are fated, despite the challenges of time and place.
Yoo Shi Jin (Song Joong Ki), the leader of a Special Forces unit, meets trauma surgeon Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) in a hospital emergency room after Shi Jin and his second-in-command, Seo Dae Young (Jin Goo), chase down a thief on their day off.
Shi Jin is immediately smitten with Mo Yeon, and he asks her out on a date. But Shi Jin keeps getting called to duty when he is with Mo Yeon, and the two also realize that they have conflicting views about human life (he will kill to protect his country and she has to save lives at all costs). They decide to break off their budding relationship as a result.
Dae Young also tries to break off his relationship with Army doctor Yoon Myeong Ju (Kim Ji Won) because her father, Lt. General Yoon (Kang Shin Il), thinks Shi Jin is a better match for his daughter.
Shi Jin and Dae Young are then deployed to the fictional war-torn country of Urk on a long-term assignment of helping the United Nations keep peace in the area. After repeatedly being passed over for a promotion because of her lack of connections, Mo Yeon gives up performing surgeries, loosening her principles somewhat to become a celebrity TV doctor and caring for VIP patients at the hospital. But when she refuses the sexual advances of the hospital chairman, Mo Yeon is picked to lead a medical team to staff a clinic in Urk! There, Mo Yeon unexpectedly reconnects with Shi Jin.
3. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon
Do Bong Soon (Park Bo Young) comes from a long line of women possessing Herculean strength. But Bong Soon can only use her strength for good; if she uses it for her own personal gain or to mistreat others, she can lose her strength forever like her mother, Hwang Jin Yi (Shim Hye Jin). Bong Soon’s twin brother, Do Bong Ki (An Woo Yeon) did not inherit the unusual family strength and is a doctor, but Bong Soon has trouble finding gainful employment as an aspiring game developer.
When Ahn Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik), the young CEO of AIN Software, a gaming company, witnesses Bong Soon’s amazing strength against a group of gangsters one day, he hires her to be his personal bodyguard to help him catch a man who has been making death threats against him. Bong Soon has a secret crush on her childhood friend, In Guk Doo (Ji Soo), a police detective who is trying to capture a dangerous kidnapper in Bong Soon’s neighborhood. Can Bong Soon help both men track down the culprits?
4. While You Were Sleeping
A young woman with bad premonition dreams meets two people who suddenly develop the same ability.
Nam Hong Joo (Suzy) lives with her mother, Yoon Moon Sun (Hwang Young Hee), a widow who runs a small restaurant. Jung Jae Chan (Lee Jong Suk), a rookie prosecutor, and his younger brother, Seung Won (Shin Jae Ha), move in across the street. Since she was young, Hong Joo has had the ability to see bad events before they happen, but she is often unable to do anything about it.
One day, Jae Chan has a strange premonition dream about an accident involving Hong Joo and Lee Yoo Beom (Lee Sang Yeob), a ruthless attorney who used to be Jae Chan’s tutor. Jae Chan decides to interfere in the course of events and ends up saving the lives of Hong Joo and Han Woo Tak (Jung Hae In), a young police officer. When Jae Chan, Hong Joo and Woo Tak then start having dreams about one another, they realize that their lives are now somehow entwined.
But can the three discover the reason that they were brought together, and can they prevent the people closest to them from getting hurt?
5. Just Between Lovers (Rain or Shine)
A building collapse ties the fates of three young people years later. Ten years ago, the S Mall collapsed due to shoddy construction, killing 48 people inside.
Ha Moon Soo (Won Jin Ah) was there with her younger sister, who perished in the accident. Lee Kang Doo (Junho) was there waiting for his father, who was an electrician doing work on the building. Seo Joo Won (Lee Ki Woo) was helping out his father, who was the head engineer of the building. Moon Soo, Kang Doo and Joo Won survived the horrible accident, but their loved ones did not.
Years later, Joo Won is an architect who is working on a new project to replace the former S Mall. With her keen eye for detail and sturdy building construction, Moon Soo ends up working for Joo Won on the project. Kang Doo works odd jobs to get by and ends up working at the new construction site.
How will they each deal with their respective pains as they are reminded of the event that changed all of their lives so profoundly?
6. Father Is Strange
This is one of those things that can disrupt a seemingly normal family. Byun Han Soo (Kim Young Chul) lives on the outskirts of Seoul with his selfless wife, Na Young Sil (Kim Hae Sook). Their bustling lives center around his small diner, “Daddy’s Snack Shop,” and their four adult children, Joon Young (Min Jin Woong), Hye Young (Lee Yoo Ri), Mi Young (Jung So Min) and Ra Young (Ryu Hwayoung).
Joon Young tries not to disappoint his parents as he has been unable to pass the civil service exam for five years. Hye Young is the most accomplished as a successful attorney who has an on-again, off-again relationship with Cha Jung Hwan (Ryu Soo Young), a television producer-director. After years of trying to land a job, Mi Young finally lands her dream job as an intern for Gabi Entertainment, only to discover that her high school bully, Kim Yoo Joo (Lee Mi Do), works there as a team leader. Ra Young works a yoga instructor and falls for Park Cheol Soo (Ahn Hyo Seop), who has absolutely no interest in returning her attention.
The close-knit Byun family is thrown into turmoil when Ahn Joong Hee (Lee Joon), an idol-turned-actor, shows up one day and claims that Han Soo is his father. Joong Hee is widely ridiculed by netizens as a robotic actor, but he is determined to earn respect by landing a role in a highly anticipated miniseries about a father-son relationship. But in order to conjure the emotions needed for the role, Joong Hee decides he needs to get to know the father he believes abandoned him and his mother 35 years ago.
Will Joong Hee’s appearance threaten to reveal a deeply buried secret and otherwise disrupt Han Soo’s happy family life?
7. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo
What else could there be to life than barbells and heavy weights?
Kim Bok Joo (Lee Sung Kyung) is a weightlifting phenom who has only focused on barbells her entire life while growing up with her father, Kim Chang Gul (Ahn Gil Kang), is a former weightlifter. She attends Hanwool College of Physical Education, a university full of top-notch athletes who are driven to succeed in the hopes of representing their country in national and international competitions.
Bok Joo went to the same elementary school as Jung Joon Hyung (Nam Joo Hyuk) but reunites with him in college. He is now a competitive swimmer who is having trouble recovering from the trauma of being disqualified for a false start in his first international swim competition.
Song Shi Ho (Kyung Soo Jin) is a fiercely competitive rhythmic gymnast who won a silver medal at the Asian Games when she was 18, but the pressures of her sport drive her to break up with Joon Hyung. Bok Joo’s tunnel-vision life starts to change when she falls in love with Joon Hyung’s older cousin, Jung Jae Yi (Lee Jae Yoon), a former athlete who became an obesity doctor after suffering a career-ending injury.
Will Bok Joo learn that there is more to life than weightlifting?
8. Queen In Hyun’s Man
Every actress hopes that an opportunity will come along to play an iconic role that could bring her out of obscurity and make her a star.
For Choi Hee Jin (Yoo In Na), that opportunity is in a television drama playing the role of Queen In Hyun (Kim Hae In), who was deposed during the Joseon Dynasty as King Suk Jong’s (Seo Woo Jin) consort by the scheming actions of Lady Jang (Choi Woo Ri). But Hee Jin’s modern-day world collides with that of her character in ways she doesn’t fully understand.
Kim Boong Do (Ji Hyun Woo), a scholar from the Joseon era, is mysteriously transported 300 years into the future to modern-day Seoul and comes into Hee Jin’s life as she is preparing for her career-making role. Boong Do not only knew the real queen but also supported her reinstatement.
Was Boong Do brought to the future to help Hee Jin bring some authenticity to her role as the queen?
9. Madame Antoine
Can a very observant woman outwit a psychotherapist? Go Hye Rim (Han Ye Seul) operates the Madame Antoine cafe on the first floor of a building that also houses a famous psychotherapy clinic on the top floor. Hye Rim uses her keen intellect and heightened senses to also work as an adviser to psychotherapist Choi Soo Hyun (Sung Joon). But unknown to Hye Rim, Soo Hyun is running a top-secret experiment on her “ideal type of man” with the help of his younger half-brother, Choi Seung Chan (Jung Jin Woon), and clinic employee Won Ji Ho (Lee Joo Hyung). But unknown to Soo Hyun, Hye Rim also is being paid by a mysterious man to get a hold of Soo Hyun’s valuable experiment files. What is Soo Hyun’s true experiment, and will Hye Rim help him or hurt him in his research goals?
10. The Guardians (Lookout)
The Guardians tells the story of a group of people who team up to serve justice themselves after losing their loved ones to criminals. The group consists of a detective, prosecutor, hacker, and an extremely shy person. They want to give these criminals the punishment that they deserve, and take matters into their own hands as the corrupt justice system in South Korea fails to capture the culprits.
11. Circle (Circle: Two Worlds Connected)
A sci-fi mystery drama that takes place in both the year 2017 and the year 2037. In 2007, twin brothers, Kim Woo-jin and Kim Bum-gyun, witness an alien arrival that brings about a huge change in their lives. In 2017, Kim Woo-jin (Yeo Jin-goo), now a college student, notices that a series of suicides in his university is somehow linked to his brother, Kim Bum-gyun (An Woo-yeon). While in pursuit of the case, he meets Han Jung-yeon (Gong Seung-yeon), another college student who is investigating the serial suicides. In 2037, South Korea is now divided into General Earth, a heavily polluted place where crimes are rampant, and Smart Earth, a clean and peaceful city free from crimes. Kim Joon-hyuk (Kim Kang-woo) is a crime detective who tries to get into Smart Earth to investigate a case of twin brothers who went missing in 2017. Each episode contains two parts, the first part is set in 2017 called “Beta Project,” while the second part is set in 2037 called “Brave New World.”
12. The Heirs
The series follows a group of rich, privileged, and high school students as they are about to take over their families' business empires, overcoming difficulties and growing every step of the way.
Kim Tan (Lee Min-ho) is a wealthy heir to a large Korean conglomerate called Jeguk Group.[9] He was exiled to the U.S. by his brother Kim Won (Choi Jin-hyuk), who tries to take control of the family business.[10] While in the States, he meets Cha Eun-sang (Park Shin-hye), who went there to look for her sister.[11] Despite being engaged to Yoo Rachel (Kim Ji-won), a fellow heiress, Kim Tan soon falls in love with Eun-sang. When Kim Tan returns to Korea, his former best friend turned enemy Choi Young-do (Kim Woo-bin) begins picking on Eun-sang to irritate Tan. Tension ensues when Young-do also falls in love with Eun-sang, and Kim Tan is forced to choose between responsibility of pursuing the family business or love.
13. Laughter in Waikiki (Welcome to Waikiki)
The story of three men who come to run a failing guesthouse called Waikiki. Complications spark when their guesthouse is visited by a single mother and her baby.
14. I’m Not a Robot
Kim Min-kyu (Yoo Seung-ho) lives an isolated life due to a severe allergy to other people. He develops extreme rashes that rapidly spread throughout his body once he makes any form of skin contact. Jo Ji-ah (Chae Soo-bin) is a woman who is trying to make it in life by creating her own businesses. However, after an encounter with Min-kyu, she ends up pretending to be a robot in place of the supposed Aji 3 robot. The Aji 3 robot was developed by Ji-ah's ex-boyfriend, professor Hong Baek-kyun (Um Ki-joon) and his team. The robot was meant to be tested by genius Min-kyu, however an accident caused the robot's battery to malfunction. As Baek-kyun modeled the robot after Ji-ah, the team ends up recruiting her to take the place of Aji 3.
15. Because This Is My First Life
House-poor Nam Se-hee (Lee Min-ki) and homeless Yoon Ji-ho (Jung So-min), both unmarried in their thirties, start living together as housemates.

Suspicious Partner Episode 35-36
Finally some real answers! At least about one case, and I don’t know if Bong-hee will find justice for her father but now everyone who matters knows the truth.
If one person shined today, it was Eun Bong-hee. From kicking some serious Hyun-soo ass to finding out the truth about how her father died, she was courageous, levelheaded and mature in the way she handled everything.
The new and game changing information regarding her father had to be the biggest blow for her. But I’m glad she is taking her time to find a way back to Ji-wook, and not immediately be at peace with it. She understands it was in part beyond him and not his fault what happened.
Bong-hee is also taking no prisoners when talking to DA Jang. I thought that when she finally got to confront him it was going to be incredibly dramatic but Bong-hee handled herself with so much grace that he put the old man to shame for his own arrogance. It was way more satisfying than seeing DA Jang destitute from his job or behind bars.
Speaking of DA Jang, what the hell is he doing with Hyun-soo? Where is he taking him? Why did Hyun-soo give a cryptic comment and smile all the way through the episode? Did they reach a deal? Seriously? With the man who killed his son? I can’t believe it.
And why haven’t we got answers in the Hyun-soo case? I thought that with his amnesia and him trying to figure out the truth behind his actions, we would get some glimpses to what happened to that young girl he holds so dear. But all we got was one flashback of her running through a shady and secluded place.
Moving on to lighter plot points, for once I think Yoo-jung did the right thing. The way she asked Eun-hyuk whatever they were friends was phrased in a complicated way, but when she said to herself that she had done the right thing (which I agree) I knew she had let him know that she has never, doesn’t and never will see him in any other capacity more than a friend. Even with Ji-wook out of the picture.
It broke my heart for Eun-hyuk but I think this is the closure he finally needed. That hospital scene, when he was fussing over Yoo-jung being hurt, I could see how earnest he is towards her and I’m truly sorry she doesn’t feel the same, but that’s life. Sometimes no matter how much we want something, it’s not meant to be. I have to give credit to the show for giving us a really rich and non-conventional second leads drama that actually seem like they won’t be ending up together and neither has feelings for either of the main leads. Can we get more of this kind of storylines in Dramaland?
Of course, I cannot not mention the scene between Bong-hee and Ji-hae. I know I was supposed to feel heartbroken over their pain but the fact that these two frenemies have become each other’s besties, it’s simply too hilarious not to laugh and found them endearing through the entire moment they were sharing.
I knew Ji-hae had a crush on Eun-hyuk but I didn’t think it was strong enough for her to drink her sorrows away or cry for him after she saw his attentiveness towards Yoo-jung. I guess that’s when she realized that maybe it was all in her head.
Personally, I hope she’s wrong. I like the idea of Ji-hae and Eun-hyuk, and like I mentioned yesterday I think her storyline has proven to be one of the best and more compelling ones in the show, even if she was mostly in the background until lately. She has grown up a lot and I want her to be happy, same goes for Eun-hyuk, and for some reason I feel they are well suited for each other.
Jae-hong is still around and everyone loves to dot on him. He’s even participating in the law firms reunions... they are totally keeping the kid, right? Why not? I don't know if they will go as far as to adopt him but this could be a chance for him to have a real family who actually loves him. Plus he’s adorable and sassy which fits perfectly well with these odd family of foolish fun-loving lawyers. I also love the parallels between Ji-wook as a momma’s boy that sass CEO Byun all the time, and Jae-hong as a Ji-wook’s fanboy who enjoys throwing sass to Bong-hee. And CEO Byun. Pfffft!
Finally, Ji-wook is going back to be a prosecutor. I’m hoping he will take more than Hyun-soo’s case, and try to clear Bong-hee’s father reputation too. I’m sad that he will be leaving the law-firm, because it means their reunions won’t ever be the same. But does this mean Chief Bang is going back with him too? What about the rest? So many questions, this changes everything that has been so well stablished so far.
I like how the show wrote Ji-wook’s journey towards finding himself, through his lost memories and new sense of self-awareness of what he wants to do with his life. This time he’s going back to be a prosecutor because it’s who he is and where he feels at his best, not because of his father.
And as much I love Bong-hee and Ji-wook, and their pace where they take years to make a move or do everything in a few days, I hope they go with the latter this time around. They both are keenly aware of how precious life is and how it can be gone in the blink of an eye. It’s clear to everyone watching they adore each other, so it’s time for them to be shameless again and go through whatever it’s coming together.
By the way, we found out a few episodes ago what happened two years ago the night Bong-hee threw herself at Ji-wook, trying to seduce him. Do you think the last epilogue will show what happened the night he threw himself at her?

9 K-DRAMAS THAT’LL MOTIVATE YOU TO PURSUE YOUR DREAMS
You can do it!
Sometimes it’s difficult to find motivation to complete goals whether they are small or big. It’s easier to accept defeat or try to procrastinate. However, there’s nothing more satisfying than fulfilling your objectives and dreams. Be inspired and gain motivation from these characters who pursue their dreams despite various obstacles.
Start-Up
Start-Up features four, very driven, characters interested in start-ups and technology. Seo Dal-mi (Bae Suzy) and Won In-jae (Kang Han-na) are sisters who were separated after their parents’ divorce and develop a rivalry. Nam Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk) was a math prodigy as a child, but hasn’t had much luck with his company Samsan Tech yet. Han Ji-pyeong (Kim Seon-ho) was a disadvantaged orphan, but transformed his life with the help of Dal-mi’s grandmother. The foursome learn and grow as they pursue their tech dreams.
Record of Youth
Record of Youth also centers on young people chasing after their dreams, but in the entertainment industry. Sa Hye-jun (Park Bo-gum) and Won Hae-hyo (Byeon Woo-seok) are both model-turned actors hoping to make it big. An Jeong-ha (Park So-dam) quits a secure office job at a conglomerate in order to take on her dream job of being a makeup artist. As they go after their dreams, there are people who block their paths. However, they strive to overcome setbacks as they further their careers.
Itaewon Class
Itaewon Class showcases the battle between Park Saeroyi (Park Seo-jun) and food conglomerate Jangga Group. Saeroyi gets expelled from school, loses his father, and becomes a convict because of Jangga Group’s CEO and his son. These unfair events are enough to anger anyone, but Saeroyi overcomes his anger and channels it into creating a bar-restaurant. The callous and intelligent Jo Yi-seo (Kim Da-mi) decides to help grow Saeroyi’s business. Along with the other DanBam crew, the pair fight back against Jangga Group.
Doctors
Doctors proves that anyone can turn their life around with determination and hard work. Yoo Hye-jeong (Park Shin-hye) had a tough childhood, and is a headstrong delinquent in high school. Due to her unruly behavior and her financial situation, Hye-jeong’s future does not look particularly promising. However, she is changed after meeting compassionate teacher Hong Ji-hong (Kim Rae-won) who inspires her to change her path and become a doctor. 13 years later, they reunite after Hye-jeong has become a neurosurgeon.
Fight for My Way
Fight for My Way shows four friends whose lives don’t go as they had initially planned. In particular, Ko Dong-man (Park Seo-jun), Choi Ae-ra (Kim Ji-won), and Baek Sul-hee (Song Ha-yoon) are not satisfied with their current job situations. Ae-ra hasn’t given up on her dream though, and pursues a new opportunity. This inspires Dong-man to find a career that makes him happy as well. Facing difficult people and circumstances, the four friends grow as they pursue their dreams and change their lives. You might be stuck in a situation, but you can still go after your goals.
The Producers
The Producers takes a look at four people behind the scenes of the broadcasting world. Baek Seung-chan (Kim Soo-hyun) becomes a rookie producer in order to work closely with his crush. However, he ends up joining Ra Joon-mo (Cha Tae-hyun)’s show instead. Joon-mo struggles to revive ratings for his show and seeks help from his friend and fellow producer Tak Ye-jin (Kong Hyo-jin). Lastly, Cindy (IU) is a famous singer who debuted at a young age. This drama shows how things won’t always be smooth sailing even when you get the job you aimed for. However, the characters work hard and with passion in order to protect their dreams.
Welcome to Waikiki
Welcome to Waikiki gathers three young men and women who run a guesthouse together while pursuing their dreams. At first, the guesthouse is managed by the three guys who individually aspire to be a successful director, actor, and screenwriter. The three girls who join them also have different career goals: pastry chef, journalist, and model. Many humorous, embarrassing situations befall the six characters as they are sometimes forced to do things they don’t want to do while they pursue better opportunities.
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung
Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryung centers around free-spirited Goo Hae-ryung who focuses on studying instead of romance unlike most of her peers. She works hard to become a historian while fighting gender stereotypes. Despite being looked down upon due to being a woman, Hae-ryung doesn’t hesitate to voice her opinions and defend people who have been wronged. She’s an admirable character who stands up for what she believes in even if it means going up against the king. Be motivated by her bravery to pursue your dreams as well!
Oh My Ghost
Oh My Ghost’s heroine, Na Bong-sun (Park Bo-young), is a timid assistant chef with low self-esteem. She’s not confident enough in her cooking skills and has a secret crush on her boss Kang Sun-woo (Cho Jung-seok). After getting possessed by the ghost of a lustful virgin Shin Soon-ae (Kim Seul-gi), she changes completely and catches the attention of Sun-woo. With Soon-ae’s help, Bong-sun gains the confidence to show her culinary skills and go after the man she’s interested in. Sometimes it’s hard to believe in yourself and external help can make all the difference. An encouraging friend can help you realize the potential you had inside of you all along.
Which of these motivational stories do you love the most? Be sure to watch all these shows and more, on Netflix!

Appearing before The Dramacourt: While You Were Sleeping Eps 5 and 6
***If this is your first time browsing The Drama Files, please read The Rules section first for our reviewing and rating system***
***Disclaimer***: This analysis based on Canadian law. This is also NOT LEGAL ADVICE for anyone and this drama is FICTIONAL.
Issues:
Whether Seung Won actually killed So Yoon’s Dad in the dreams.
Whether we are going to end up having Second Lead Syndrome.
Whether all low level employees are terrified of being summoned to the Boss’s office.
Whether the justification for why the other prosecutor didn’t indict So Yoon’s Dad makes sense.
Whether Woo Tak and Jae Chan should totally have a bromance.
The Rule(s):
It’s complicated.
Second Lead Syndrome is going to be upon us! Bring on the tears and tissues!
100% Petrified.
Absolutely not!
Yes please!
Analysis:
RedRosette J: So this episode begins with the race to save Seung Won’s fate from unfolding and in the process we learn many things about other characters. I really like how this drama portrays cause and effect and how it shows that each person’s actions can have a knock-on effect onto someone else. We find out that the policeman who Jae Chan saved, Han Woo Tak (played by Jang Hae In), is also having dream premonitions connected to our duo. It’ll be interesting to see his role in preventing future catastrophes. I do like that each person who sees these visions brings something specific to being able to stop it from happening. In Jae Chan’s case, the fact that he has control over whether or not someone will be prosecuted which sets into motion a chain of events that might prevent something else from happening. Woo Tak plays a similar role as a policeman by being able to actively get involved in preventing a course of action.
Jubiemon J: I quite like this cause and effect too. I also do like that twist where Han Woo Tak is able to dream too! I think this drama forces you to want to do something about a situation. Often, we just walk by things or ignore them when may be something could have been done. I think this happens a lot in some Asian cultures, where it’s better not to stick out and go with the crowd and keep the harmony. It’s nice that Jae Chan has that dilemma too, but I think he went on far too long with his debate….just prosecute the guy, okay? =-=’
Sleeping on the job like…
Why is it that shady shit always seems to go down in fancy living rooms?
Dude! Where did you come from? You’re so cute!
RedRosette J: I’m also interested in how the premonitions themselves work, because it seems like each person dreams or sees a different point of view of the same events. They each seem to dream information that the other person doesn’t have. I’m curious to see how our Three Musketeers start playing their “future-bad-situation-preventing” roles.
Preventing disasters like…
Saving people like…
LOOOL!
This guy and his upset stomach tho….
When you see the future unfold before your eyes
RedRosette J: Just as how we got some insight into Hong Joo’s past last week, in these episodes we saw Jae Chan’s past and his relationship with his father. As it turns out, he lost his father to the same soldier who blew up the bus with Hong Joo’s dad in it. (I totally called this btw! I knew it had something to do with the soldier!). I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if Woo Tak also had some past connection to the soldier incident. So we’re starting to see the characters’ backstories evolve into this complex narrative in the past where their fates were intertwined on that same day, and maybe this is what caused the premonition-effect.
Getting kicked out with Dad like…
One-on-Ones with Dad
This guy tho. ugh.
Tragedies
RedRosette J: On the other hand, the change in the brothers’ dynamic is also important for Jae Chan’s character growth. I think he needs to hear that he’s copping-out from his little brother, and I think that Jae Chan gained a real sense of the consequences of his “copping-out” after seeing poor Seung Won’s fate in his dreams. Hong Joo also took some steps forward in her relationship with Jae Chan and we see how much he needs someone to believe in him as much as his father did. Hong Joo and her pushy self seems to be a good fit for this role.
Arguing with your brother like…
Dreaming like…
This bus stop tho.
Trying to save your girl from hard labour like…
RedRosette J Aside: Here are some funny moments from the episode just for kicks.
Issue 1: Whether Seung Won actually killed So Yoon’s Dad in the dreams.
RedRosette J: Tbh, this whole scene moved really fast and it seemed like Seung Won didn’t actually do anything except duck or something when the dad came at him with the golf club. Even if he had pushed him over the balcony, I’m sure that a defense could have been made based on self-defense. The guy was obviously attacking everyone including Seung Won and he was just defending himself. Either way, I doubt that Seung Won was a real “murderer” in the sense that the show put it.
Nooooooooooo
Thank God this is just a dream
Issue 2: Whether we are going to end up having Second Lead Syndrome.
RedRosette J: Okay OMG its happening. I can see it happening. Second Lead Syndrome is coming. At first I thought Lee Sang Yeob was the second lead, but he’s just the evil bad guy, so OMG cutie Jang Hae In is probably the second lead. Is it just me or did anyone else get vibes that he’s going to end up crushing on Hong Joo? Also, he’s just super adorable trying to be friends with Jae Chan and I can’t wait for him to part of our crime fighting trio. I swear this guy came out of nowhere, but he’s actually been around since 2014. He was the famous “Tae Hee Oppa” in Goblin that Gong Yoo was super jealous of. Who knew? I can feel the syndrome and the tears starting to kick in!!
Not the Second Lead
Total Second Lead vibes
Issue 3: Whether all low level employees are terrified of being summoned to the Boss’s office.
RedRosette J: Yes. This is a universal thing. Anyone working as a low level employee is petrified of losing their job and being called into the Boss’s office. Having worked in several intern roles, every time I had to go see my Boss I was absolutely terrified. I totally feel poor Jae Chan’s fear when he’s asked to see his Boss. Hang in there man. You won’t be low level forever.
When your Boss scary af…
…and you scared af
Issue 4: Whether the justification for why the other prosecutor didn’t indict So Yoon’s Dad makes sense.
RedRosette J: Unless I’m missing something based on the translation, the female prosecutor made it sound like she chose to make indictments based on the victim’s situation. She talks about how in most domestic abuse cases the perpetrator is the breadwinner and if you remove the breadwinner, the victim is in a worse situation because they’ll have to struggle to survive, so the prosecution should not indict the perpetrator based on this. I disagree with this very strongly. Justice is justice. There is no justice with a caveat; if someone commits a crime they are answerable to it and should be punished justly. The prosecution can’t be going around being all “oh yea, he abused her but she’s going to have to go out and get a job to survive without him, so we’re just not going to do anything about it and leave him unpunished because it makes her life harder if we do”. Uhhh No. Her life is already hard. He committed a crime, and should be indicted, regardless of whether or not the victim is going to have a harder life because of said indictment. I think even if the victim were to struggle financially, it would better than suffering repeated emotional and physical abuse. This approach is an extremely victim-blaming one and this mentality should have no place in the justice system.
Trying to decide what kind of person you want to be
Having a crisis of faith
Trying to sort out existential problems like…
Issue 5: Whether Woo Tak and Jae Chan should totally have a bromance.
RedRosette J: Yes please. These two are going to be so cute!!! I can’t wait to watch them prevent their dream-futures from coming true! Give us more of Woo Tak being cute and Jae Chan being crotchety while swatting him away!!
Yes! BFFs!!!!
“The Three Flying Dragons”
“Maybe its fate” LOL!
Conclusion: Appeal Allowed.
Rating: 4 = I’ll Give You A Cookie (This was a good plot)

My Top 10 Korean/Taiwanese Dramas
Before I continue I'd like to mention some thangs:
These are the top 10 from the dramas I've seen.
They are listed in a random order.
My summary may not do each drama justice so if you really want to know what they're about...watch them. :)
I love Asian dramas, I just do. They bring me a certain amount of joy that can be hard to find in this world. Even if you don't like Korean or Taiwanese dramas you should still give these a go, they're too great to ignore. And if you do have a liking for Asian dramas, and you haven't seen these you must watch them!
I am on a journey to see every Asian drama that's out there so please comment your favorite dramas below and I'll be sure to watch them! Promo: I watch all of my Asian dramas at dramanices.com
1. It's Okay, It's Love (Korean) -
Summary: Jang Jae-Yeol is a writer and radio DJ with a past. Ji Hae-Soo is going through her first year of fellowship in psychiatry at a University Hospital. They end up crossing paths and their lives go through big changes.
I really love this drama. I loved how strong the women lead was (Gong Hyo-jin) as well as the men lead (Jo In-sung). The acting was on point! Really fun and extremely entertaining! Lots of good moments. I went through an emotional rollercoaster while watching this drama. Very unexpected with the events that took place and a really good story!
2. My name is Kim Sam Soon (Korean) -
Summary: Jin Heon is a restaurant owner, who is not looking for love. Sam Soon is a 30-year-old pastry chef, who everyone thinks is fat. She had recently had her heart broken. He ends up hiring her for his restaurant and from there he begins to fall for her.
AKA: My lovely Sam Soon. Kim Sam Soon is the coolest person ever! She's so funny! I really enjoyed watching this drama. Really good moments. There are not many big girls out there who get the guy! Especially in Korean dramas. I love this drama so much. I love to randomly rewatch it, it fills me with hope :). Normally I watch a drama around Valentine's day and this year I chose this one.
3. You're Beautiful (Korean) -
Summary: Ko Mi-Nyeo who was set to become a nun had to take her twin brothers place in an Idol group called A.N.JELL.
Awesome Moments! Funny moments as well! I was curious to see how everything was going to turn out for her. She also ends up moving in with them and that is cool. It gave you an insight on a celebrities life. It was also very interesting to see how she falls in love. Really good story! I love seeing dramas where the underdogs win!
4. You're Beautiful (Taiwanese) -
Summary: Very similar to the Korean drama but with some differences.
Because I watched the Korean drama it didn't take away from this one, they were both really great! I really enjoyed watching the roles being played the same but differently in a way. Also, the way they replicated the music in Chinese was great! It has equally funny and awesome moments as well!
5. It Started With a Kiss (Taiwanese) -
Summary: After an earthquake destroyed Xiang Qin's house, she and her father move in with the family of her father's college buddy. Their son is her all time crush Zhi Shu who she recently confessed to. He has an IQ of 200 and doesn't like dumb people, but will Xiang Qin soften his heart?
I lo-lo-love this story!! I was first introduced to this story when I watched the anime called Itazura Na Kiss, and then I watch the Korean version of it, which led me to this one. This version is my favorite. It's a must watch!! I think I like it so much because It continues long after they fall in love and get married, not many stories do that and you just need more you know? The love story is amazing, so many cute and emotional moments! There is a second continuation after this and it's called They Kiss Again.
6. Oh My Venus (Korean) -
Summary: Kim Young-Ho is a personal trainer for Hollywood stars and Kang Joo-Eun is a 33-years-old lawyer who is overweight and not so attractive. They meet in an unlikely way and Kim Young-Ho becomes her personal trainer.
Just look at that piercing glare, uh he's so sexy....This is a great drama! So great! Such a freaking good story, their love is so strong by the end of the drama. They go on a journey together with their love and with her weight loss. Such an entertaining drama! Lots of cute and hilarious moments. One of my favorites! It's another story of where the big girl gets the guy. Very fun and very emotional as well!
7. The Masters Sun (Korean) -
Summary: Several years ago Kong-Sil was involved in an accident. Since that incident, Kong-Sil is able to see and hear ghosts. She's also terrified of the ghosts that appear constantly around her. Meanwhile, Joong-Won is the president of a successful shopping mall named Kingdom. She finds out that he can give her something no one else can, and they end up falling in love.
This has such a good story! Another one of my favorites, I've never seen a drama like this one. If you like a little bit of horror as well as romance, this is the dramas for you! There are many twists and turns in this drama, and the ending was beautiful! Very interesting to see how their love turns out and how he changes as a person!
8. Cheese In The Trap (Korean) -
Summary: Hong-Seol works part-time due to her family's poor background. Yoo Jung is good looking, gets good grades, athletic and has a kind personality, or so it would seem. He ends up becoming interested in Hong-Seol.
This drama was good as well, lots of great characters! I don't know about y'all but I loved her hair so much! The couple is cute in this story and the way their love starts is simple but great! This one is pretty funny and I learned a lot from it. Very goofy and entertaining as well. Also, there is a warning about this drama that I wanted to give you ...but naw, no one gave me one.
9. Flower Boy Ramen Shop (Korean) -
Summary: Cha Chi-Soo is the only son of a family that owns Korea's largest food business named Chasung. Yang Eun-Bi is 25 years old and a senior in college studying physical education. They end up crossing paths and he can't get her out of his head.
The dudes in here are gorgeous too....The kissing scenes in this drama were great! And there are some scenes in here, like woah! The love in this drama is great and it's also really funny too. I got really emotional at the end of this drama.
10. Absolute Boyfriend (Taiwanese) -
Summary: Guan Xiaofei is an ordinary office worker who is disheartened when she gets rejected by the man she loves. Xiaofei picks up a cell phone dropped by a salesman, Lei Wuwu. In return for retrieving the phone, Wuwu gives Xiaofei a website address dedicated to the "Absolute Darling" project. Still skeptical, Xiaofei decides to fill up her order anyway and requests her own "darling", code-named8 "Nightly 01". He ends up arriving with the sole purpose of fulfilling all her wishes.
This is really interesting drama. At first, it may seem a little odd, their love. but then it all becomes so real that you fall in love with them. This is a Taiwanese drama but I've also seen the lead girl (Ku Hye-Sun) in Korean dramas as well, so I'm like does she speak both languages, I don't know but it's awesome. There were a lot of great moments in this drama! And just to let you know I cried at the end of this one, and I'm not really a crier....
