Giraffiti is one of the "circus Beanies" (alongside Jimbo the Elephant, Kookie the Dog, Mystique the Tiger and Vegas the Zebra) and has a yellow tag interior to match!

This is unrelated to the blog's subject, but I'm SUPER hyped about this upcoming indie game called Critter Cove and I've got some super cool news; I got to give the devs some critter designs to show up as Townies you can invite to live in your town!

This isn't even all of them-- in total I've made well over 40 designs that they're gonna pick and choose from. These ones are just some of my favorites.

This character creator is CRAZY good. It's hard to find animals you can't make. Cow, squid, human, raptor, duck, I was even able to make a half-decent Anomalocaris up there. The ones that are difficult to make, like giraffes, horses, and insects, are actually planned to be added in soon.

Critter Cove plays like a mix between Animal Crossing and Subnautica. You sail around to collect scrap from the remains of sunken ruins, rebuild a rundown town on a polluted island, and make it appealing for both residents and visitors. There's also a plan to add a museum feature, dozens of islands, fishing mechanics, and even co-op in the future.

(but co-op will only come if the game's enough of a hit, which is why I'm shamelessly plugging it lmaoo)

It's launching into Early Access on September 10th, but it's got a VERY generous free demo which is only supposed to be "the first two hours" of the game...

...and I'm clocking 61.

Progression stops when you re-build the cafe, but you can keep playing, sailing around, running quests, and doing some simple gardening. Your progress rolls over into Early Access too, so you don't have to worry about losing your townies, clothes, structures, etc.

For all my designs I've got a free key, but it's gonna be launching somewhere in the 20 - 30 USD price range. I can't recommend the demo enough, but even just wishlisting it on Steam boosts their metrics and gets them in front of more people!

People really liking my speculative animal wishlists and seem to enjoy that I keep doing vampire versions of non-vampire animals, which is of course because vampire bats are adorable and wonderful. They are adorable and wonderful BECAUSE they are vampires. They are technically completely harmless but there's still a chance they will drink your blood while you're asleep and we as a species hate that SO much it inspires horror and superstition of all sorts. So I think there should be more like that but I already have some that are fish and some that are bugs, so here's just my Top Ten Land Vertebrates That Should Have Vampire Versions:

Tarsier. How great would it be if that thing was also a creeping ghoul. Vampire version would be goth colors. I guess it'd be aesthetically like between a tarsier and an aye-aye actually.

Gecko. I don't know how it would obtain the blood, maybe its tongue would have evolved to have a super sharp tip? Maybe the tip of its little gecko nose would be like a sharp hook?

Tree frog. Same issue as the gecko. I'm gonna say the gecko has a sharp tongue and the frog has a sharp nose. A frog with a beak. Let's also make it see through like a glass frog. Just a ghostly little frog that will cut you.

Kiwi bird, using a needly-fine beak tip and excellent climbing skills, much tinier than the New Zealand one and found on every continent. Then the New Zealand kiwi can still be special. Nature specials can be ike "did you know!? The New Zealand Giant Kiwi is the only kiwi that isn't a sick freak"

Pangolin and this one unlike the rest of these would maybe actually be dangerous, like still pretty large for a blood feeder, if you fall asleep unprotected in vampangolin territory you aren't gonna wake up. I just think pangolins deserve to take a little something back, you know. I guess it might be hard for them to sustain themselves on just blood but maybe these would live where there's a whole lot of big juicy animals for them, like they follow herds of buffalo around.

Flying squirrel and I would put this in my own state of Oregon so like a real Fearsome Critter.

Turtle, because to successfully live like a vampire bat you need to be able to detect a blood source, get to it quickly, drink your fill and get out of there just as quickly, so we'd be talking the fastest and lightest little turtle in the world, a long legged scurrying beetle of a turtle, really long neck with a nasty ass beak. Shell could also be covered in wicked as hell thorns for when a rude host wakes up and tries to be mean to it.

Snake and I would also make it the shortest fattest snake so I guess I'm saying a leech tsuchinoko. Like the vampire bat its fangs would have evolved into two short but sharp little vampire buckteeth. It would be too chubby to coil up the way regular snakes do so instead it would have to roll up the way a pillbug or an armadillo does, into a ball.

Pachyderm with a sharp spur on its trunk. Maybe around pug size, a wrinkly hairy wretched looking micro elephant that would probably live off the blood of things like giraffes and zebras and regular elephants while they sleep. Actually like the pangolin this could probably kill you. Every now and then we could hear about how a big game hunter left his tent open and got completely exsanguinated by an adorable hideous vamphant.

Sculpt as Play Feature

While the last several weeks have been very bad for my pain levels and general state, I've lucked out in that the hand pain has been minimal and my brain has decided sculpting is its preferred stim for the moment. So lets hit some previews of stuff I've got in the pipe.

Turtles of Grayskull Mekanek is... baffling. I mean, what's the reference? Is it some kind of snapping turtle armor? But part of being a toy customizer-enabler is fixing mis-steps by the official companies.

So I'm making bits to turn Mek-a-Nek into a mutant giraffe like I mis-predicted here, because c'mon!

This sculpt is in-process. I already have a neural-expression version sculpted, so this is the playmates-style variant. One thing I love about playmates' TMNT work (esp in the old days) is the classic assymetrical face sculpt, because especially on characters with long muzzles, it can get you three expressions in one head sculpt depending on how you look at the toy.

I'm going to add the tongue, possibly lolling out the left side of the muzzle, and a lot of other mods I'm sure. The current plan is to offer a pack with several variant heads (basic giraffe, wearing Mek-A-Nek helmet & goggles, and Halfcourt, with neck-extensions and a basketball hoop collar-piece for Halfcourt builds.

Minor variants are pretty easy to implement in 3d sculpts, so if I have a good idea for one I tend to include it as a bonus.

The Mutant Cringer/Panthor set, for instance, is going to have a bunch of variant options. Here we've got (Cringer/Panthor/TigerMan), BattleCat, TigerClaw/Old Hob (flip left to right), Ninja Cringer (a be-hatted Scratch is likely to follow) and I might do a Dupli-cat/Manx. Of course, since these are basic cat/tiger heads, once colored the options are endless.

On to the Big Stuff:

The Modular Sky-Sled/Doom Buggy Pack is entering final testing.

The Sky Sled was the most commonly used vehicle of the original series, being basic transport for both sides. As such, it makes sense to me that they would be heavily customized and adapted for individual users. Since 3d printing requires assembling the toy anyway, why not make that part of the fun, and provide options?

The pack includes 1 chassis design, 2 each of side guns, hood gun, control yoke, side panels, thruster assemblies, and removable engines. The initial pack also comes with six gargoyles, and at least 3 control panels.

This modular system is going to spawn a lot of vehicles and creatures, with cross-compatibility wherever it works for the release. The control panels, for instance, work with the newly revised (and currently in testing) Verminus Rex:

Who now no longer requires flex filament and has working mandibles that move in unison and numerous sculpt improvements.

Sprin-Tor (very early in development) takes full advantage of the modular system. Sprin-Tor assembles around a wild-west variant sky-skiff, and you can use the base Skysled chassis (and most of the other parts) with the Sprin-Tor parts to make your own variation, and as other vehicles in the series come out, the options expand with each.

He's even got a jingle.

Yall this has been in my wishlist for like 6 months and I'm still barely halfway able to afford it.

Some of u may know me from my speedofdreams blog where i did all steam powered giraffe fanart and I would draw things for people all the time.

I wanna get back to doing that as soon as I can get all my gear back and updated. The computer is only step one. And ps isn't an option for me prob ever again so I'm gonna have to learn myself a whole new world of art program. And when I left my ex I had to leave everything behind that wouldn't fit in my car which was most of my hobby room and a guitar and my bike.

So in the downtime of having no computer I've been learning how to paint with acrylics and gouache and I'd be open to a few commissions to help me get that computer. If anyone would like a small canvas painting from me please tap on my shoulder. I can also crochet u a small toy thing just name it. Plus when my grandma died a few months ago I got about another closet full of more yarn. So if u want a cool tiny thing let me know. Also I've been working on items to open my etsy with again soon but I just can't take good photos to save my life cuz this house is lit like it's 1820

Prepping for NaNoWriMo (of sorts) and the project I'm working on got me thinking more and more about how badly I want a TS4 EP highlighting African cultures.

Hmmm... so, how would I do it/pitch it?

A hobbies wishlist/wildlife conservationist pack in a blended world of a city district, a traditional village, and a savanna neighborhoods [with an oasis hidden lot]!

Looking back at the EP idea #4, it really did start with being about fossils and then towards the end became about conservation. Do I believe this was generated by Ai. Oh a 1000% but I'm gonna hold them to the ideas they promoted. I lend fossils more to museum gameplay and that alone could fill its own pack and I like the "Oceania Shores" world and all that possible gameplay. So let that pack be about fossils and this pack be about wildlife [which should've come with 4R but *shrug*].

New "Harvestables"/animals/flowers:

clay from pits, cotton &/or silkworms, geese, desert rose, violets. Gold, other metals, and diamonds spawn in the world.

Possibles for New Skills:

Pottery - that are giftable, sellable to collectors, on plopsy, etc. Same kind of poor to masterpiece qualities. Ability to make urns. Store/catch water [for Seasons/EcoLife cross-pack]. Used as an offering on a shrine. Set as an heirlooms. Paintable/Decorate. Breaking causes auspicious chances [if sim is clumsy or low skill or caused by ghost].

Weaving/Sewing - imo can go one of three or all of three ways with introducing the loom, sewing machine, &/or tufting gun to create quilts, fabrics, clothes, and/or rugs [dk if this should come with a second career for a seamstress or fashion designer, active or rabbithole, or should be it's own GP]

Glassblowing and/or Beadwork - same with pottery but also for beadwork - clay or glass - crosspack with Crystal Creations to introduce new headpiece/mask/glasses designs.

Oneirology - studying dreams, journaling, sharing dreams with others, starting an oral story and sharing/passing down those, astral projection as a reward for the top of the skill, chance of a prophetic dream, meet an ancestor

Update/Expand to Photography skill - nature, street, studio, modern photography

Update/Add on to woodworking table - masks and totems, stools, etc.

Update/Add on to herbalism

Sketching/architecture skill to bring back the drafting table and add regular sketchbooks

Possible new Instruments:

solo drum [no way there's still no bands/drums pack by this hypothetical point that expands on music production], xylophone, shakers, wooden flute, harp, lute, trumpets. Adds options to the music station to record/produce/mix with/from, collab with someone, and add a new design for that station

If the bands pack doesn't already, add ability to write music and lyrics from the beginning, it can be poor to masterpiece, and it can be edited. Also if the bands pack, doesn't add rap & opera, I will riot ... so in the least add rap to this pack! [and kind of makes me want a Theatre/Musical GP]

Wildlife Conservation:

new lot type, 100 x 100 plot in this new world.

Active Career or Ownable Lot - needing the charisma skill, writing skill, and/or maybe handiness skill? vet skill cross-pack?

at least 4 interactive reserves (lions, elephants, giraffes, and flamingos) - could work just like CL with their "barns" or could spawn if you place a marker in river for the flamingos, a certain tree for giraffes and elephants, a rock cave for lions [very much taking from DDLV]. I'd add cheetahs and zebras if they'd give us 6.

Could add a cowplant exhibit and/or introduce a new "endangered" animal that we rescue?

Placeable rabbithole shells with at least 8 swatches for different types of exhibits. AND/OR a marker to set in front of builds to note what it is and give a presentation?

Has guests, staff, offers tours, offer scholarships and ability to apply for grant from our National Leader.

Conversations: talk about eco-tourism, fundraise, film education videos, ask questions, maybe even trait specific interactions for clumsy, high maintenance, erratic, etc.

Give me BB/architecture: strollers, new version of stylist chair that looks like a salon chair, spiral-stairs. More thatched roofs, more round wall windows, clay/mud wall textures, adobe style pieces, high rise buildings, tribal masks and statues, handwoven rugs, carved wooden chairs, stools, clay pots, and woven baskets.

African food (a given) BUT gameplay - if you cook together with an elder [maybe at a certain level] there's a possible "learned family recipe" buff/trait and/or recipe that appears in inventory to set an heirloom/pass down. If sim already has a cookbook or writes one, they can either add recipe and betray family secret or keep it in the family. And if you've unlocked this buff/trait, you can ask other sims about their family recipes or be asked, some might spill and you can choose not to.

CAS: cowrie shells, kente, ankara, kaftans, locs, braids, bantu knots, cornrows, headpieces, makeup, cross pack add headpieces, dresses, and dashikis for MWS,

The man is rather extravagant with his gift giving. Might as well allow him to express his love with things she actually wants.

It feels like his heart stops when she mentions peppermint oil being in her lotion, and his mind suddenly rushes to the worst possible outcomes. For a second he's absolutely sure that the absolute worst has happened and that they would get to the ultrasound and there would be no heartbeat. He's so deep in this fatalistic daydream that it takes a moment for it to sink in that she was messing with him and she's now trying to get him riled up.

His hand goes to his heart and he braces himself against the wall as the relief washes in. "God, don't do that," he complains, rubbing his left arm to bring the feeling back to his fingertips. "I have a heart condition."

He swallows and shakes the feeling off, pushing himself up off the wall as the elevator stops. "Don't worry though, it's a full service. I'll take care of you in and out of the bedroom. As many times as you like."

He grabs the keys to his newest Audii sports car from the rack and opens the passenger door for her.

Improbable guard wishlist to introduce new ways to gameplay:

Butterfly and moth guards that patrol separately but could attack together when united

Goldfish guards that you can easily shake off because they forgot they were chasing you in the first place

Shark flashlight guards which will be scary

Chameleon guards that camouflage themselves into their surroundings

Magpie guard that will try to steal Sly’s cane and you have to struggle to get them off of you

Hippo flashlight guards that can only be taken down by Murray or by using Sly and Bentley’s thiefnet gadgets (giving you incentive to use them)

Tanzanian guard pack: zebras, wildebeest, hyenas and cheetahs that patrol on all fours because the theme of the level will be the expression of primal instincts and rejecting civilization (led by a sophisticated Giraffe boss to make it extra ironic)
