Gintama Chapter 649-650 (Spoiler)
OMG OMG OMG! I just had to post this scene between Hijikata and Gintoki
Tumblr media
Oh! What Beautiful friendship these two have! Hijikata returning Gintoki’s wooden sword. *fangirling*
I ship ‘em too much to not fangirl at this. I want them all to be safe and NOT die! Pls. Sorachi-sensei, don’t break your fans heart :’(
Did Hijikata picked it up after Gintoki and the gang escaped from Utsuro?
Btw in Chapter 649 , He must’ve searched for the trio (Yorozuya) worried about if they are safe and alive.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at how worried sick he is when he was asked about them.
Tumblr media
You can see how they have grown attach to each other. In the current situation they are in, it really shows the bond they have developed over the years and how they have become a big family. Worrying about each other and at the same time have deep amount of trust.

Gintama Chapter 649 Review
youtube
The war can change the world forever. When it's all said and done, a new era will begin. Gintama is closing in to the last act of the war with only Utsuro left to eliminate. This chapter is an emotional end of the old and a motivational beginning for the new.
I sound like a broken record when I keep bringing up on how pleasing and greatness this final arc keeps on bringing. After many series before this fails to satisfy me, let alone meet expectations, this one captures the right tone and capitalizes the epic proportions that needed to be significant. Around this time, I would have been fine with the arc like how I experienced it before. This series doesn't fail me to please me.
The last chapter has a cryptic line from Nobu Nobu that he's going to die. Sadly, that is the case in this chapter and it's very emotional. It's still amazing on how much he has developed from the moment he steps in till now, and yet Sorachi goes to kill him off. He even has one move to send medics to save Mutsu and others over himself, which is gracious but heart breaking. If he is the one to get it, others would have died instead.
The whole scene is very emotional but not only because of Nobu Nobu's final words. It starts with the sense of feeling defeated; space or Earth. Hijikata reflects how everyone feels like the world has ended, which is pretty discouraging. It was like humanity has lost everything. It captures well on how everyone feels that way; creating this war as a hopeless end.
Sakamoto made me sad while reading his words. All this time, he tried to bring Nobu Nobu to be the Shogun that people need; someone they have to protect. It has been treated as an icon or King status and that would keep them at bay. But to think, they continue to fail to protect their king only makes them feel weak and hopeless. That frustration of Sakamoto rarely happens but you can understand where he's coming from. It feels like he failed and he couldn't stand it.
Katsura's piece is another touching moment. He finally accepts him as a king they had. All the rotten and foolish moments he has done, he has to give him respect for protecting their country and he knows that's what a true Shogun would have done. Takasugi didn't say a word but how it lined up with Nobu Nobu's apology says it all.
Nobu Nobu's farewell is such a tear jerker moment and this is the guy that was once an asshole and the worst scum. Fortunately, Sorachi took his time to write him into a character who tried the hardest to do everything right without asking for forgiveness, which makes him a stronger character. There was no need to tell us on how to feel; we look at him and know this is touching. If he was always awful and suddenly became good, this scene wouldn't be as effective at all.
The theme of the chapter is the title king and much like how everyone in there said, they need a Shogun because that's how the system works. Now, Nobu Nobu will end that system with his fading life. This made me teary because of how effective this war has caused to everyone. Every moment is a life changer and this one is the biggest one yet.
I was awed when he said that the title is the only thing that made his life meaningful. He always felt like an empty shell, but if he can help others, then he has something worthwhile. To end it off, watching all other Shoguns appear for him to bring him to the afterlife broke me. This is going to hurt anime fans tremendously. The system is over. There is no one king; everyone is a king.
Rest in Peace, Tokugawa Nobu Nobu. You're the best redeeming character.
I love how everything flows in narrative perspective. Everyone is getting back up and preparing for the final battle and the mixed of Nobu Nobu's words help the moment to be heartwarming and motivational. They no longer have leaders that started the war in charge; it's all up to everyone to finish the fight. I'm not ready for this series to end.
Kamui helping Gintoki is a pleasant sight; that nod to their development from the last arc. I was very relieved to see Kondo alive, though badly injured from the look of it. Tae got hurt but alive, and Tsukuyo and Sacchan are relieved as well as all of us audience. Otose is out sadly and I don't know if her left eye is severely damaged. That would suck and it would only make Jirocho angry. In due time, everyone will recover because they have one more battle to deal with.
The ending is reassuring but frightening because of what's going to happen next. As many have called it, Ane and Mone, the Yellow Dragon Maidens, finally make their appearance alongside with Sadaharu. God bless for the consistency...in a series with plenty of 4th wall broken. Seriously, I would think that other series would have forgotten this piece of element that was done once, but because it's Sorachi, no one is left behind.
It's intriguing to see them to finally play their role and fitting one at that. You got to love that baseball reference. I wonder if Sadaharu will go to his God mode form especially I got a bad feeling that Utsuro will send his men to attack them. It's now or never from this point forward. Will someone tell Sorachi to stop reading tragic stories?
The presentation is all about the tone of a losing war to the bidding farewell with a rising hope to win. Once again, the narrative flow is solid and motivational. Its moments are well received with scenery that can make you cry or encouraged. It truly captures the essence of a war. It does hint that saving Earth from itself and space will parallel to each other, so it's going to be one epic save.
This is a tear jerking yet uplifting chapter that hits all the right notes of describing a war. It’s the beginning of the end of Gintama. I’m simply not ready…

Gintama anime ep 358/manga chaps 648, 649, 650, and 651
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
Please allow me to humbly express to you what I am most thankful for in this episode:
BUT WAIT, before that! Sorachi-sama, please tell me, what does Team Bandai Namco have against Bansai? Once again they cut him out of the episode completely when, in your original chapter, he was included, in a really touching moment: when NobuNobu was imploring everyone to hold back on their desire for revenge, Takasugi actually pictures Bansai. That was completely omitted from the episode and I just don’t understand why. I still loved the entire episode but that omission was rather disappointing, especially considering the other Takasugi and Bansai moments that were cut out two episodes ago.  Apologies for my minirant; please allow me to return to thanking you and praising the fruits of your labor that blessed us with all the other wonderful moments in this episode.

I remember when I first saw NobuNobu die, I didn’t quite feel sadness because you had reminded us that he was responsible for ShigeShige’s death. I only felt a little sympathy for him since he was killed just as he was trying to change himself for the better and I was worried how Soyo would take the news. However, in watching his death on screen, I actually got teary-eyed for two reasons: the choice of music used which was straight out of the Shogun Assassination Arc and Sakamoto’s griefstricken reaction thanks to seiyuu Miki Shinichiro-san’s amazing performance. It was a touching moment, and a grander exit than NobuNobu probably deserved considering what he has done in the past. I was also very happy to see Enshou finally fall; it was such a satisfying moment, I loved seeing it in full animated color. And despite the aforementioned exclusion of Bansai, I actually loved this episode a lot as it included some of my favorite moments from the battle on Earth. As stupid as this may sound, I also got teary-eyed over seeing Hijikata returning Gintoki’s bokuto to him. You know I’m a sucker for GinHiji moments. Of course the interactions involving Kamui’s harem and between the Yato siblings were also treasures to me. Thank you for the abundance of riches that never fails to put a big smile on my face and brighten my day.
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams

A Gintama chapter a day keeps the ending away...Lesson 649
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MY 13 FAVORITE MOMENTS IN LESSON 649:
Tumblr media
1) I was so glad to get confirmation that Mutsu and Elizabeth were ok, and I did appreciate the fact that NobuNobu gave the order to treat their injuries above all else.
Tumblr media
2) Sakamoto made my heart ache...especially since they were inevitably going to be foolish people who did let their kings die.
Tumblr media
3) Again, just loving the contrast of emotions between Sakamoto and Zura: Sakamoto was taking NobuNobu’s impending death more personally because he had already grown attached to him, while Zura was much more calm and almost distant, even though he was still respectful. It spoke to the difference in their attachments: Sakamoto to NobuNobu because they interacted more whereas Zura was bonded to Shi-chan due to their time together.
Tumblr media
4) I loved how NobuNobu’s line referenced back to the title, and the beautiful idea it conveyed.
Tumblr media
5) I felt bad for what could have been, and the anime made me more emotional about his death, but I still can’t say I like NobuNobu. I pitied him even though I still couldn’t forgive all that he had done.
Tumblr media
6) Shi-chan!!! I really loved this moment. So tremendous...especially in the anime with the score.
Tumblr media
7) I think this was definitely a more grand send off than NobuNobu probably deserved. Yes, he was on his way to redeeming himself, but I didn’t think he was quite there yet. Still, this was a noble exit; more noble than the life had led up until shortly before his death. I wish he had met Sakamoto sooner and he hadn’t been led so astray by his retainers.
Tumblr media
8) NobuNobu could not have asked for a better guide or reception to the afterlife. RIP.
Tumblr media
9) Loved this, for the obvious reason [ship] and also for the reference to kings. They are kings: the Pirate King and the Samurai King.
Tumblr media
10) Omgggg I was worried about this man for so many weeks!! I don’t remember if I cried when we finally saw that he survived the blast, but I probably felt like it.
Tumblr media
11) I was also relieved that the ladies survived everything as well, and I loved that we jumped right to Tae-chan right after Kondou’s reappearance.
Tumblr media
12) Ane and Mone!!! I was so happy to see them again! As soon as I remembered Sadaharu’s origins, I was waiting for these sisters to appear.
Tumblr media
13) I was excited about seeing Squad Dragon Hole Guardians getting together and then like extreeeeemmmmmely fearful for them, especially for our dear puppy Sadaharu.
SHIPS TALLY:
Gintoki x Kamui: there was a time when I would have freaked out happily over this moment, and while it still made me smile wide, it was more due to nostalgia than anything, since I already committed them to others.
Tumblr media
Kondou x Otae: honorable mention due to what I said in moment #11.
Disclaimer: Gintama is not only about shipping. Gintama is hilarious, clever, exciting, poignant, heart-breaking, loving, brilliant, and just so freaking amazing.  It is only due to Sorachi-sama’s generosity that I can enjoy Gintama on yet another level, the shippy level, and I am forever grateful for that. GINTAMA IS LIFE AND LOVE.

Gintama manga chap 649
Dear Gintama gods and Sorachi-sama,
Wow, I am still trying to catch my breath from all that happened in this chapter! First of all, thank you so much for finally returning to Earth and letting us know that everyone made it out of those Altana blasts safely. I was especially worried about Kondou since he looked like he was caught right in the middle of one, but thankfully, although he's definitely looks worse for the wear, he's at least blessedly alive.  Then the fact that Gintoki actually cross swords briefly with Utsuro was rather surprising; I almost wish we got to see their fight even though it was obviously truncated, but I understand that you are probably saving the real thing for later on. I'm just glad he got out of that tussle safely; gods know the odds were stacked against him since there was hardly anyone around at that moment to fully support him. I am also grateful for the fact that you had Kamui pull him out from the rubble. There was a time when I would have been so unbelievably thrilled by that sight since I did ship them at one point, but recently, I've decided to be a little more faithful to my OTPs, so while my heart was indeed warmed by seeing them together, the happiness level was decidedly tamer than before. You know the silly shipper in me wishes that it was Hijikata who rescued him.
Although I do worry now about Okita...he was right by Gintoki's side when he fought Utsuro, but then he disappeared. Is he trapped in the rubble too? Since Abuto is also unaccounted for, I hope you meant to imply that he rescued Sougo, which would make sense as Kamui was already busy with saving Gintoki.
Now that everyone I truly care about are ok—thank you for even confirming the non-fatal state of Mutsu and Elizabeth's conditions—I at last have the emotional capacity to properly feel sympathy about NobuNobu's demise. He was not a good person, especially for what he did to our beloved Shi-chan who was an actual good soul and leader, and while his strive for redemption might have come at too late a time, I do commend him for trying. Frankly, I did feel bad for him; he had a rotten upbringing, surrounded by rotten people, he never really had a chance at being a good person. It truly is his misfortune to have never met someone like Sakamoto or Katsura and the others until too late in his life. But I do give points for his willingness to change so late in the game. I never thought he could replace ShigeShige, but I did start to hope that he might someday be at least a decent shogun and a respectable enough man to not disappoint Soyo's belief in him. He died as close to a hero as he will ever be and despite his rather short stint as shogun, was still honorably ushered to the other side by Shi-chan and his fellow shoguns. Really, for the man that he was, he could not have asked for more. So with that, I'd like to say: rest in peace, NobuNobu. I will sorta miss his punchable face.
Finally, thank you so much for bringing us the wonderful reappearance of Ane, Mone and Komako! I have been WAITING for them to pop up as soon as the Altana started spurting forth from the land! I'm so happy they are finally joining the Earth-saving team! I have high hopes for them: they, along with dear Sadaharu, have to succeed in saving the day because dear gods, there's not much left of Kabukichou or the rest of Edo to destroy anymore by the dreary looks of things. However, the fact that Utsuro knows of their existence is extremely worrisome to me. I know it makes complete sense that he would; I guess a small part of me was still hoping he overlooked them somehow. I know, naive of me to even entertain such an unreasonable notion. They play too important a role in guarding the Altana stream for Utsuro to NOT know of them. But seriously, Sorachi-sama, if anything were to happen to Sadaharu, I don't know if I can recover from that. It will take a lot, I mean, A LOT of work. Just look at how I'm still reeling from Bansai's death, even though in the greater scheme of things, he was technically a villain who barely appeared in the series compared to Sadaharu. It will be so much worse with Sadaharu. Not only is he a part of the Yorozuya and has been there since the beginning, but the fact that he's also a super adorable big fluffy PUPPY, and puppies and animals mean the world to me...I honestly might be inconsolable if Sadaharu were to die. So please, don't even go anywhere NEAR there. I know there's a sadistic side of you that might find it tempting to inflict such an immense pain on us, but please resist your natural urges. I don't even want him to get hurt. I don't want Komako to get hurt either because she's basically a mini version of Sadaharu which just makes her even more adorable. Not that I want any harm to come to Ane or Mone either, but truthfully, I might be able to deal a little bit better with that.  Sadaharu and Komako must be protected at all costs.
Yours truly,
A silly fangirl with yaoi dreams
(^3^)
PS: Even though I would have been even happier if it was Hijikata, I am still grateful you gave us this moment because it was like a nice trip down GinKam memory lane for me, especially since I just recently re-read the Yoshiwara arc which is where that alternate ship was born for me.
