Top 5 husbandos?

Oh, thanks for the Ask again.

My experience is kind of limited at the moment regarding husbandos, but I do have a few favourites. I'll make a list below.

First to mention is Tadanobu Nomura, age 33, from Metro PD (Voltage Inc). He's a Deputy Chief, master negotiator, and a chronic flirt but still a gentleman. Once you get behind the flirty cover, he is caring and loyal. (Plus handsome...) Nomura was my first Husbando and he is still one of my favourites after all these years. He set the bar extremely high for the future husbandos. (And also probably the reason why I tend to like husbandos with beards...)

The second one to mention is Kaoru Rindo, age 42, from Cafe Enchante. He works for the Government's Paranormal Measures bureau (GPM) and is in charge of monitoring Café Enchanté and its patrons. There is still a lot to learn of him, but so far he has been a hard-working gentleman with a sparkle in his eyes. Every encounter with him ends up getting me blushing... I guess he reminds me of Nomura... *cough*

The third husbando is Ginnosuke Oguri, age 41, from In Your Arms Tonight (Voltage Inc). He's a successful hotelier and a gentleman tease. He is quite a flirt as well, but the most mature and professional one of the three. The circumstances are not optimal for romance when you meet him and the burn is slow, the feels are intense but sweet at the end...

Choosing the 4th and 5th were a lot harder than the "top 3". I could of course go with the "face value", but there needs to be something else than just a beard (or a fluffy fur on the shoulders...). This is where the challenge comes as I don't know that many husbandos deeply enough to say they are my top 5. There are many potential ones, but I need to get to know them better first.

With that said, my tentative 4th Husbando (at the moment) is Sosuke Kikuchi, age 26, from Finally, in Love Again (Voltage Inc). He is a deliveryman who also has a thing for windsurfing. Sosuke may come off as blunt and earnest, but deep down he is shy and sweet. Sweet with a capital S.

And lastly, tentative husbando number 5 is Shusei Hayakawa, age 27, from Our Two Bedroom Story (Voltage Inc). He is a popular flirty guy at work, but actually a hardcore gamer, a gentleman, and a sweetheart. While I don't enjoy love triangles in general, everything else made up for it.

As for honorary mentions, some potential future husbandos:

Motonari Mouri, from Ikemen Sengoku. All I only know is that he is a rebellious pirate, some sort of antagonist in the game, but I already fell for him from face value only. Unfortunately, I need to play Act 1 with some other husbando in order to meet him in Act 2...

And there is this guy, but he's quite a mystery for me yet...

Your relationship wasn’t a straight line, it wasn’t marriage and then happiness, and despite the fact you’d forgiven him, despite the fact he’d fallen for you, he knew that you were going to be facing more hard times in the future, he knew he’d made your relationship even more difficult, that he’d made you wonder why you’d even bothered, that you’d hit rock bottom, that you’d cried, but now, he wanted to show that your whole life with him wasn’t going to be full of hard times, even if everything wasn’t going to be easy, he was going to make you see why you go through these times, why you try, and why it was worth hitting rock bottom. Koichi was going to be there, to drag you through all the hard times that are ahead of you, kicking and screaming if he needed to. 

Koichi still didn’t quite know how your relationship had survived, how you’d fallen for him, or how he’d fallen for you, but you were both going to make it through the hard times ahead of you.

He loves your love, that you’ve both jumped into it, a little blond but both of you hopelessly in love, and even though you’re not speeding along, and you’re taking things slowly, he knows that as long as you’re next to him everything will work itself out perfectly. 

Ginnosuke ain’t no stranger to love, and he knows that if it’s meant to be between the two of you, then it’ll be.

Ritsu will make sure that you can see stars from the moment you fall into his arms, and then he’ll make sure they never fade again.

Tsukasa Niregi 

After the distance he’d put between the two of you, he sometimes can’t believe that he’s got you tangled in his arms every night when he falls asleep. He wants to make sure you know that you mean everything to him, that you mean something to him that you’ll never mean to anyone else, that you’re the one he’d call the love of his life without a doubt. Tsukasa knows he messed up with the ways he tried to push you away, the way he tried to make sure you wouldn’t fall for him, but now, he’s got you, he knows he would’ve waited for forever to capture you, he wants to fulfil all of your deepest wishes. 

Tsukasa won’t run anymore, it was hard to see clearly without you, but now he’s got you, he’s going to always let you know how much you mean to him.

New to Me Characters:  Ginnosuke Oguri, Kippei Ebihara, Shunichiro Tachibana, Jun Araki - What are your thoughts?

Kind-of-not-really spoilers under the cut.  Not really spoilers, just my opinion on the path the route took and the overall plot.  I don’t actually mention anything that happens in the story.

Ginnosuke - I had never played In Your Arms Tonight before.  I always said the premise wasn’t for me.  I wasn’t a fan of that kind of story, so I avoided it.  However, after many suggestions that I try Ginnosuke’s route, I finally did, and it was great!  MC was more infuriating than I’ve ever seen her, but I really liked Ginnosuke and was pleasantly surprised by his story.

Kippei - I’ve had interest in playing Kippei’s route previously, though I never did, since, like I said, I was never a fan of the whole affair thing going on here.  However, I liked Ginnosuke’s route so much, it makes me want to try Kippei.  (He actually reminds me of Daichi Katsuragi from My Sweet Bodyguard.)  What do you guys think about him and his route?

Shunichiro - On a whim I decided Irresistible Mistakes looked interesting, so of course I decided to try Shunichiro because he was free.  He had some hot moments, but overall his story was really anticlimactic and parts of it dragged on while at the same time forcing the existence of a relationship that didn’t really exist.  I was left feeling really “meh” at the end of the whole thing.  Not a fan.  I’m glad I didn’t waste my money on this route.

Jun - I haven’t played his route, but he looks interesting.  I’m skeptical about spending my money in this game, though, since my first experience with it has tainted my views.  Is Jun worth a play-through?

In Your Arms Tonight - Ginnosuke Oguri (Main Story) Review.

The main character struggles in both her personal and professional life, as she finds out her husband is cheating on her, but there is someone supporting her through all this.

During an assignment for the Hotel King --Ginnosuke Oguri-- the main character finds herself falling for his kind words and actions.

She struggles with her personal feelings and helping Koichi through his own personal, but will she continue with her marriage or finally give in?

★ ☆ ✰ Rating: 7/10

The main character is someone who is extremely hardworking and diligent in learning everything she can in order to prove herself worthy and catch up to her peers who have been working on the Design Team longer. She struggles a lot, but also seems to learn something from the experience and takes everything with stride. However, she tends to keep everything she is suffering about to herself and tries to keep moving along because she doesn’t want to be an inconvenience to other people. However, it is because of Koichi’s cheating that the main character questions her own value and self-esteem since she doesn’t understand what she did “wrong” so early on in the marriage. Yet, she slowly becomes more confident in herself through Ginnosuke’s support and what she learns during the assignment. The main character is very selfless in this story, as shown with how she stays with Koichi through all his problems, even though she is no longer in love with him and even to the point that she considers the marriage at some point. She seems to be a romantic at heart from everything she wants from her marriage, but she also becomes weary because of all she has seen from Ginnosuke in terms of being a “womanizer”. However, she tends to be hot and cold when it comes with what she wants out of life, especially when she realizes that she has fallen for the older man. Nevertheless, she is far too trusting in this route, as shown when she believes Ai is a good person.

Ginnosuke Oguri is someone that knows what he wants out of life and has worked hard to enjoy the fruits of his labor. He has been working for a long time in order to achieve his title as the “Hotel King” with his string of beautiful and unique hotels throughout Japan. He is kind of like Ebihara that he expects a certain degree of hard work from those around him, as shown during certain scenes with the main character, but he also isn’t afraid of trying something new -- such as having a rookie interior designer create a room for his newest hotel. However, he also knows when to play and how to use his money well, as he always seems to be enjoying the finer points of life with a beautiful woman by his side. Ginnosuke has a way with words, but he sends a lot of mixes signals when it comes to the main character that tend to confuse her. However, because he put some much time into business, his marriage suffered greatly as a result to the point that he is weary about the concept of marriage and even love. While, he is easy to talk to and makes the main character realize something she might have missed before, he is actually very has to read and can almost seen as distant towards her during the last couple of chapters. At the same time, nothing seems to faze him, which helps him in the end when he is trying to save the main character from Ai’s ruse.

The story starts with the main character no having the courage to talk to Koichi about his cheating and this leads her to drink and vent to a stranger in the bar, who tells her that she should just get divorce. The next time she meets him is at work when he chooses her to design a room in his new hotel. Through their time together, both inside and outside of work, the main character finds herself falling for Ginnosuke but she feels like she keeps getting mixed signals from him, and then Koichi’s affair comes to light at his workplace. She seems to be ready to move on, but continues to stay in the marriage in order to help Koichi recuperate. The chance to restart her marriage presents herself, so what does the main character plan to do when she realizes she has truly fallen for Ginnosuke? 

Personally, this feels like the most indecisive versions of the main character within IYAT because she struggles between waiting to be with Ginnosuke and helping Koichi, which also make her a damn saint since I know personally a lot of people wouldn’t be willing to help the persona who cheated on them get back on their feet. The story also gets extremely soapbox-y toward the end since everything seems to be snowballing with Ginnosuke and Koichi, while adding Ai’s sudden stalking and revenge just might push it over with some people, especially with what Ai tries to do. Thus, I caution people when playing though it. Aside from that, I find it sort of hard to understand how the main character and Ginnosuke fall in love with each other since he seems to adverse to falling in love and the main character having him listen to her make it seems like it’s more about comfort than actually falling in love for his personality, since that is actually something she always seems to question when she sees him with other women!

In terms of supporting characters, both Ebihara and Koichi play are strong side characters in this game. Ebihara is mostly there to provide some backgrounf information on Ginnosuke since he has known the older man for quite some time, while trying to get the main character to understand the type of personality Oguri has and how he tends to separate business from the personal. Koichi might seem like hindrance to the main character’s budding romance, but he is the one that gives her the final push outside of their marriage. Outside of his own route, this is the most character development I have seen from Koichi and it is lovely that he actually appreciates what the main character has done for him, but he is painfully aware that the marriage really can’t be saved at this point. He decides to let her go and frankly that is the most unselfish thing I have seen Koichi do in the entire game. 

The theme seems to be centered around not giving up on the things that make you happy, as shown with the main character giving up what she has created with Ginnosuke in order to help Koichi -- a grave mistake she nearly made. It also seems to take on an idea that karma does come back to haunt a person, as shown with Koichi but after everything that has happened to them, Ginnosuke and the main character finally have a bit of happiness as well.  

I don’t think this story is for everyone because of the way things are handled at times, even now I find myself cringing about how certain situations where handled by the cast, especially the main character. Ginnosuke is a mature adult, but he really seems like the only within the game, though sometimes his own actions --such as falling in love-- seem to contradict his set personality, and it would have been nice to see the story from his POV, just to better understand his actions and feelings even just a little. 

 If you like the suave older guy, Ginnosuke might just be the right one for you, though I would be cautious about the story overall.

Top 10 Otome Husband Game

I feel like a few of you who read my stories will be surprised at my rankings.

10. Toshizo Hijikata - Era of Samurai: Code of Love

I know Soji is the fan favorite but the demon deputy is my top choice in this app. I think he cares for the MC in every route and in his, he goes above and beyond for her. I love his gruffness, how he teases her, and how he chooses to shower her with affection.

9. Zyglavis - Star Crossed Myth

I really enjoyed his first season and his character overall. I will say that Leon’s 2nd season story is the best voltage story I’ve read in a long time. Zyg still beats him for the 10th spot because I think Leon’s first few seasons are meh and his “power” is ridiculous.

8. Ichigo Sato - Dreamy Days in West Tokyo

Dreamy Days is an underrated title IMO. There’s something nostalgic about the music and the situations and Ichigo is by far my favorite route. Even though he’s slightly arrogant, he’s more sweet than anything.

7. Iori Enjo - Scandal in the Spotlight

I love Iori’s first seasons and Iori in general. When I was first reading otome for my web series he was the dude that I felt was closest to what I wanted my lead actor to be. Full of contradictions, he’s tough to get to know but makes you feel so special once you do. I love that he doesn’t constantly fawn over the MC - he teases the hell out of her and that’s how he shows affection.

6. Ginnosuke Oguri - In Your Arms Tonight

In Your Arms Tonight is another early title that I don’t think gets enough love. It’s way too real in a way to the point that it’s a little depressing but I love it. Ginnosuke is great. He’s a total fantasy and yet feels like a real person. I love his story with the MC because it feels more real than many of the ones I’ve read. There’s something about the fact he lets her heal from her divorce in the route that I really love. Writing this I want to re-read him.

5. Mamoru Kishi - Kissed by the Baddest Bidder

He’s the only bidder I’d consider. Yeah, his laziness is super unattractive but I love how sweet and awkward he is at expressing his affection for the MC. I love his family in later seasons and I just feel in the world of the bidders which is totally fantastical, there’s a reality to his stories that feels sweet and possible for us who live in the real world.

4. Nozomu Fuse - True Love Sweet Lies

This goofball is more than just someone who knows to be silly. He’s the most overtly feminist character I’ve played, supporting the MC in ways I don’t feel I’ve seen in voltage routes. I love his brand of affection which feels silly, real, and sweet. He reminded me of a part of my ex that I really loved and hope to find again. A man who can make you laugh and who you can be a kid with is a keeper.

3. Shinichi Kagari - After School Affairs

Shinichi was the first route I ever played and I love everything about his first season story. I’m a sucker for cold, logical types that you break down over time and get to fall head over heels in love with you and this story hit all those beats. I used to say that my ex was one part Nozomu, one part Shinichi and that’s still totally true. 

2. Hiroshi Kirisawa - MPD

I’m pretty mean to Hiroshi in my stories but he was my #1 for a long time. His route in MPD actually got me to shed a tear and I think his NY Files story is the only time voltage has ever pulled off an amnesia plot line.

1. Kazumi Kagami - Liar! Uncover the Truth

Kazu gets my top spot for several reasons. I am a sucker for a really smart man. I am a sucker for a successful man. I am a sucker for a man who does not have a gigantic ego. I am a sucker for a man who is playful and sweet. I am a sucker for a man who is not easy to get to know.

Kazumi Kagami hits all those beats. At the beginning it’s hard for the MC to know what he’s joking about or how serious he is, but as the story goes on he proves himself to be more than meets the eye.

In my opinion he’s the only redeemable “liar”.

IYAT: What Happened After Your First Time Together?

Kippei Ebihara

Kippei didn't know how long you had been asleep for, or for how long he had been there, just laying looking at the beautiful mess that lay in front of him, he kept brushing your hand over your cheek, briefly at one point placing his hand over your heart, finding it relaxing, the speed the same as his own. He just liked watching you, and for the rest of his life, he was planning on spending every night like this, just watching you. The path here had been hard enough and now, caressing your cheek as you slept, everything felt perfect.

Kiyoto Makimura

Kiyoto couldn't believe that you had done this with him, he had been trying and trying to get into your pants, and now you were in love with him, you were finally there with him. He was holding it to you that you wouldn't hurt him, or play with him. Kiyoto couldn't sleep and as he watched you sleeping in front of him he instead picked up one of his many sketchbooks, and calmly sitting there, for the first time in a very long time, as he watched your every breath, and the way you tossed, the way your hair fell, he wanted to draw your portrait. And as you lay there, and as his heart rate picked up speed he pressed his pencil to the paper, and drew you, as you lay there, glowing.

Shohei gathered you in his arms, he had been waiting for this for years but never had he thought that carrying his torch would actually lead to this. He just watched you, he couldn't fall asleep or close his eyes for fear that he was dreaming, watching your every movement, the way your chest moved up and down, the way he could hear your heartbeat, everything about you was calming. And as you lay there, with a hickey on your neck, he wasn't exactly sure how he had gotten here, all he knew is he could never forget about this, he was so damned in love with you, and now he could do this with you, he wasn't about to let you out of his arms. 

Genji Higashiyama

Genji had held you this close before and to have you back where he had always wanted you, he was holding you so tight, the marks that covered your body were going to need cover-up on in the morning. But he didn't care, the two of you were back to where you had been before he had left for Italy. You were finally able to shift slightly, and you just lay there looking into his eyes, running your hand through his hair, causing him to sigh slightly, he liked that, he knew he could never be made to feel any more comfortable then he would be in the moments he gets to share a bed with you.

Koichi Natsukawa

He'd been holding back, he'd been with his bosses wife, and now that had blown up, and now he's fallen for you, well he was still slightly in shock after all that had occurred, and that you really had returned his affections after everything that had happened and that you had been though because of him. He lay there, placing light kisses on the nape of your neck as you rested in his arms, from now on he couldn't hurt you, and as he held you close, kissing your neck, he knew he wouldn't again. 

Ginnosuke Oguri

Ginnosuke had managed to finally win you over, it had taken all that he had, but here you were saying you were willing to leave your husband and as he looked down at you, he knew exactly why you were becoming his whole world. He moved a strand of hair from your face, and watched as you moved, hiding your face in the nape of his neck, the two of you were just enjoying the silence and the fact that you were together. He wasn't going to let you out of his bed if he had a say in it, he couldn't.

Soji Higashiyama

He'd wanted you since high school, and though it had been shy and what felt like rather clumsy on his part, you were still laying there placing kisses on his chest, as he just laid there. He was so happy as he brushed some of your hair away and pulled you up to him, with a red colour on his cheeks, he kissed you deeply again. A red on his cheeks as he pulled away from you, his brother wasn't ever going to lay a hand on you again, no one was, only him, and he decided he needed to reaffirm that, many more times that night.

You had chosen Ritsu over Koichi, and as you lay there, running a hand up and down his bare chest, he moved so that the two of you were laying facing each other, he muttered things to you that didn't really mean anything, a bunch of sweet nothings to send you to sleep, and watched the red colour on your cheeks as he muttered these. Your hand over his heart, which was beating just as fast as his, the two of you in unison, as you dropped off to sleep. Ritsu was so happy he'd managed to win his heart as he lay looking at your bare form. 

Tsukasa Niregi

After all the effort that he had gone through trying to distance himself from you he was so happy to be laying with you, the more securely wrapped his arm around you as you slept against his chest, he knew you could hear his beating heart, and that made it beat faster, but it would only go that fast for you, and he found himself laying there, just taking in your scent as he replayed all of the events in his head, it was so damned true, the more that he had seen you, the more he really had wanted you. The more he had needed you, and now he was never going to stop needing you.
