It is very much hot cocoa weather over here -- did you know that peppermint candy canes make excellent cocoa stirrers? (provided you remember to take the plastic cover off!)
Also, I was thinking a bit about the classic Ronnie Barker sitcom 'Open All Hours' recently, specifically the episode where Arkwright tries to shift an overstock of Jamaica Ginger Cake by spreading rumours that it's a potent aphrodisiac -- the Ineffables are very likely aware of that show (the outfit they sort out for Jimbriel seems to intentionally reference both miserly shopkeeper Arkwright and his beleaguered nephew/assistant/errand boy Granville), so do you think there's any Ineffable Etymology around Jamaica Ginger Cake that would've given these adorable word-nerds an extra layer of amusement?
They do indeed, Dear Philosopher! Can't go wrong with a peppermint hot chocolate. Here in the strange weather land that is Massachusetts, it's still either hot chocolate weather or lemonade weather, depending on the day. Mostly fall, though. I've been drinking a lot of green and lemon balm tea with honey to help with allergies and definitely need something a bit more seasonal for a boost soon. A peppermint hot chocolate might be just the ticket. 😊
I remember that sitcom & the idea that they're referencing it with the costumes. Gabriel and Aziraphale definitely do it with more style, though. That sitcom is also an interesting one to reference since Arkwright is always lusting after/flirting with that redheaded lady and whole plots exist about him sneaking into her room across the street at night. If memory serves me correctly, it also took about half the show for them to actually reveal what the deal was between the two of them and tell the audience that they'd actually been engaged for years but family conflicts were keeping them from just getting married already. 😉
I might be biased because it's my favorite British sitcom but I think Crowley & Aziraphale would be more likely to be big fans of Are You Being Served?. It's a bit of its time in parts when you watch it now but it also was very daring tv for the 70s and is very much in the same style of their dirty humor. Also, Fawlty Towers! I watched "The Kipper and The Corpse" & "Waldorf Salad" again to laugh when I was sick a few weeks ago. I assume that it is required by law to have seen this show where you live, correct? 😂 Crowley and Aziraphale would be wheezing laughing at those. I remember the ginger cake episode of Open All Hours! The bit where he convinces the gossipy guy that it's an illegal aphrodisiac and then all the men he tells start coming to the store in sunglasses to buy it like it's drugs. 😂
If we're talking about ginger cake, we might as well also talk about Aziraphale's euphemistically spicy recounting of his baking habit to Crowley in Lockdown...
Ginger and cake are actually both used in Crowley & Aziraphale speak separately already. Ginger is used by Aziraphale to describe Crowley, as it is part of the "jinnjer" wordplay in the Baraqiel entry in Demon's Guide. The travel sweets are also ginger candies (probably lemon-ginger, even more Crowley).
Obviously, ginger is a way to refer to redheads but it relates to Crowley in a food way as well. It is rather sweet, since ginger can be used as a spice and as a healing food. It is known to be stress-relieving and to help with stomach upsets and anxiety. It also brings warmth and heat and spice when added to food and drink.
To refer to Crowley as ginger is to refer to his ability to be both exciting and comforting-- to arouse and to calm, at once.
As a lot of people already know, cake, in everyday euphemistic speak, refers to a person's caboose or to sex in general. My favorite recent example is the song "Cake By the Ocean" because there are people who think it only refers to getting married and are using it at weddings without realizing that it's also euphemistic for having sex on the beach. Cake, in Crowley and Aziraphale's speak in Good Omens, though, has an additional meaning that Aziraphale was using in Lockdown.
Everything that Aziraphale told Crowley he baked with recipes from the "cookbook sextion section" of the bookshop that is also metaphorically Aziraphale is euphemistic for the kind of fantasy he was having to, ah... arrive at his planned destination by, ah... enjoying his own company. We actually listen in real time as Aziraphale codes cake as masturbation because, while it seemed to have the usual meanings mentioned above beforehand, Crowley actually says "ah, I follow, I follow" in Lockdown when he sees where Aziraphale is going with this whole cake thing.
So, what's Aziraphale been practicing for the showstopper on The Great British Bake Off during Lockdown? 😂
Aziraphale: "I got peckish. I've now made bundt cake, sponge cake, *Angel's* Food Cake, four different kinds of sourdough loaf, Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte..."
Peckish-- Aziraphale for horny, since 1793.
Bundt cake-- Bundt cake is pretty much the only cake in existence that is named not for what kind of cake it is but for the pan used to bake the cake. You can make a zillion different kinds of cake in a Bundt cake pan but they're all, technically, Bundt cakes. It's cake that is named for the tool used to bake the cake.
Aziraphale never said what kind of cake he baked in aforementioned Bundt cake pan. It could have been, for instance, a thematically-appropriate fantas-- I mean, cake! involving a Bundt cake pan, for instance, but we don't quite know for sure because Aziraphale was actually just most eager to tell Crowley that he'd been putting the, er, kitchen equipment to good use.
A Bundt cake, in Ineffable Husbands Speak, is an alone time session enjoyed with the assistance of a rubber duck (a dildo; a vibrator).
I'm sure that Aziraphale is also amused that the Bundt cake pan is an American invention and comes from a variation of the German word bund, which means an association. The chipper tone of voice suggesting that the angel couldn't wait to make this joke. 😂
Sponge cake-- Cake baked involving a bath or shower that may or may not have also been had in the bath or shower. Apparently, an Aziraphale favorite location for ducking, given that Crowley's revenge for The Seeds of Destruction on the way to Tadfield in S1 was apparently to suggest they take a shower together when they got home:
Which also adds another funny element to...
*Angel's* Food Cake-- Aziraphale's heavy verbal italics on the first word there is emphasizing that he knows damn well that this is not actually the name of the dessert. It's called Angel Food Cake. Its counterpart does have a possessive-- Devil's Food Cake. You will notice that no matter how much Aziraphale loves chocolate, he does not bake a Devil's Food Cake-- literally or euphemistically. That would be pretty offensive and Satan is not exactly something that's going to get Aziraphale there. He's intentionally referencing Devil's Food Cake, though, in purposefully renaming Angel Food Cake as Angel's Food Cake to Crowley. This is a play-on-words relating to the etymology of both cakes names.
Devil's Food Cake is called that because of the idea that it was so rich and delicious that it had to be the sinful food of The Devil. Angel Food Cake is called that because it is a light and fluffy and therefore apparently angel-like sponge cake. (It's here where we should mention that the kind of cake that Aziraphale uses to describe Crowley that we'll get to down below is also a sponge cake. 😊) Devil's Food Cake has the possessive because the food was seen as sinful and, so, *of* Satan-- belonging to him. Angel Food Cake does not have the possessive because the cake is not seen as sinful and the connection to angels is more figurative description rather than a declaration of belonging.
Aziraphale refers to one of the "cakes" he "baked" to Crowley as "Angel's Food Cake"-- tongue-in-cheekily (and also sweetly) giving the connotation of the cake as being angelic and not satanic. There's a double way of reading "Angel's Food" that's also clever-- the apostrophe s would indicate that the cake in question here would be of Aziraphale's own, since he's the one of the two of them who is the angel and "angel" is also what Crowley calls him but the angel's food would be from an external source-- a ginger one who is not ever willingly Devil's Food Cake but is consensually Angel's Food Cake anytime Aziraphale is feeling peckish.
Four, different kinds of sourdough loaf-- Sourdough loaf is a type of bread. Bread, as we've seen elsewhere, is a partner in partnered sex (Mrs. Sandwich partners up slices of bread, etc..); it's also Cockney Rhyming Slang for head (as in, the human head), which is euphemistic for oral sex. It's bread because of rising dough via yeast being metaphorical for arousal. Each type of bread mentioned in the story (black bread; brioche, etc..) could then be used euphemistically to mean something different. Sourdough is a sweet choice of bread for Aziraphale to use euphemistically because of the word it contains:
Four, different kinds of sourdough loaf = four, different fantasies about the two of them in bed.
Sourdough is also bread that is made with a process of fermentation, like alcohol. A linguistic overlap of words related to both baking and alcohol-- proof/proofing/proving-- is innuendo in 1941's alley scene, when Aziraphale remarks that the theatre is "so improving", which is also "I'm proving", referring to getting turned on.
Crowley replies with "Talking of improving", which is not the correct way to phrase that, as the well-spoken Crowley well knows. The proper way would be to say: "Speaking of improving" but the word speak contains the word peak, which is not what Crowley was going for there in that moment, but is elsewhere ("You speak every language of the world. We both do." in the present in S2 referring to getting off on words).
Crowley uses the word talking instead because talk/talking more directly refers to wording in their cant (Crowley in 1.01 in the phonebooth: "Aziraphale, it's me. We need to talk."; in 2.06, "they're toxic", pronounced as "they're TALK-ic", to try to get Aziraphale to hear his use of coded speech. More amusingly, casually, about him and Aziraphale to an unaware Maggie and Nina: "We talk all the time.")
Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte-- An elegant and sexy chocolate sponge cake covered in chocolate ganache and made with layers of-- and topped with-- cherries and whipped cream. Crowley, in cake form lol. It is the same kind of cake as Aziraphale used to refer to himself earlier.
A Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte is basically a Black Forest Gateau but German law states that for you to refer to it as a Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, it must contain kirschwasser, a distilled brandy made from fermented cherries. There are places that make this same type of cake but substitute other types of liquor or omit alcohol entirely-- those cakes are Black Forest Gateaus by default, though. Only when it has that specific cherry brandy is the cake what Aziraphale calls it-- a Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte.
In terms of how Aziraphale's "cakes baked" is tracking here, this dessert would involve the Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, ah... feeling around for his car keys, shall we say?
Adding to that is that Aziraphale said that he had to "miracle in the cherries." He's saying so to ask Crowley to use magic to come over and fuck him before Aziraphale is eventually found dead beneath a sea of dildos and scones. While he's not sure about the risk of Crowley hunkering down during the Lockdown, he misses him desperately and is absolutely calling Crowley with eleven different fantasies-- we aren't even bringing up that whole hot guys breaking into the bookshop one lol-- and a general air of get over here and do me, Red about him.
"The cherries" is an adorably cheeky description for Crowley. Red fruit for the redheaded Serpent of Eden, yeah, and those ones, in particular, because cherries have that euphemistic association with sexual firsts, in line with the suggestion in Rome and other scenes that Crowley had trouble having an orgasm with a partner before Aziraphale. Cherries, plural, for the midwife/cobbler.
Furthering the Rome suggestion is that Crowley, when he brings up hunkering down at the bookshop, says that he can bring over a case of "something... drinkable." He places an emphasis on the 'drinkable'. This is what Crowley was saying to the bartender when Aziraphale heard him in Rome and appears to be shorthand for Rome between Crowley and Aziraphale in Lockdown.
Offering to bring something drinkable could be to offer a repeat of Rome, kind of in the same way that Aziraphale used Paris, 1793 as shorthand for what he wanted for lunch in the 2008 of 1.01.
When Crowley then says, while clearly understanding for what Aziraphale has been using cake as euphemistic, that he wants to "slither over" and watch Aziraphale "eat cake", he's saying he wants to watch him masturbate, with the added amusement of the use of 'slither' in there drawing a comparison between the snake ability to hypnotize with their eyes/Aziraphale's thing for Crowley's vavoomy eyes and Crowley's own enjoyment of visual stimuli.
"Fascinating little restaurants where they know you" in 1.01 is the same kind of joke, as the the root of the word fascination is the hypnotic gaze of a snake.
Ginger cake, in Crowley and Aziraphale speak, would then probably be the same thing as a Schwarzwalder Kirschtorte, in that, to them, ginger refers to Crowley and cake refers to masturbation. As it was in that Open All Hours episode you mentioned, "Jamaican" is still code in basically every kind of speak there is for marijuana. I know that Jamaican Ginger Cake is British and is called such because it is meant to be made with molasses and/or sugar-- not pot-- from Jamaica but, if we're talking about euphemisms in general, then Jamaica usually is referring to weed. I don't think Crowley and Aziraphale would use it any differently.
There could be something in there with jam and bread but it feels more like it'd be coincidental humor, like the bund/association stuff in Bundt cake above. If the phrase is "Jamaican Ginger Cake" and we go with what Aziraphale made up above, as well as Crowley's "having a nap" Lockdown euphemism for what you Brits call "having a wank", then "Jamaican Ginger Cake", in Ineffable Husbands Speak, would be Crowley having a weed-augmented, ah... nap.
The way that poor demon could use both a slice of Jamaican Ginger Cake and an actual nap about now... 😂

A silly one:
A Papa that has eaten all the leftover Halloween candy and is now unwell from it.
- A Nonny Mouse
You are left staring at the bowl of candy on Primo’s counter just next to an array of succulents. Eyes scan the small kitchen for any evidence of wrappers or candy. Maybe he threw them away? You wander around the kitchen for a moment, opening to the trash can to find no candy. And then you hear it… a soft groan coming from down the hall.
You move in the direction of the sound, the carpet feeling soft on your socks as you slowly move toward the door at the end of the hallway. There’s a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach as you reach the door and the groaning only grows louder. Your heart pounds in your ears before you push the door open, only to find Primo in bed with the covers drawn up underneath his nose.
“Amore mio.” He whines and tries to sit up in bed, wincing as he moves. “I have made a mistake.” You sigh deeply, looking over his figure with a soft smile. You’re relieved that it’s exactly what you thought it was and not something serious — despite his diet mainly consisting of food grown from his garden (vegetables, fruits, etc) but he is known to have a severe sweet tooth. You considered not leaving the bowl of candy out for the day because of this but you figured that Primo would be busy enough to stay out of his quarters.
You were wrong.
“You know you have a sensitive stomach, Primo.” You coo, spilling his secret to the four walls that surround the two of you. The ministry thinks that Primo became this gardening wizard because of his passion for plants but in all actuality, it was because of his constant stomach issues. The more natural foods helped him digest better, hence the intense interest in gardening.
But he always succumbs to the candy.
“Don’t tease.” Primo groans again and reaches out for you, his favorite piece of candy of all. You crawl onto the bed and lay next to him, settling on your side so you can slip your hand down the covers and up his t-shirt to stroke his upset tummy. He sighs happily and relaxes against you, his hands moving to hold your arms. “It was the nougat.”
You chuckle quietly against his ear before moving your lips to kiss at the wrinkles on the corner of his mouth and then up to brush over his laugh lines. Primo is all but purring, closing his eyes to bask in your love.
“A nap should fix you up, don’t you think? I’ll get you some ginger ale after if it’s still upset.” You hum as you smooth his hair from his face. Primo sighs in the affirmative, melting at your touch and relaxes even further against you. It’s impossible for you to be frustrated at him; he can’t help it when the forbidden goodness is staring him right in the face, wrapped in pretty colors.
You’re happy to take care of him, after all, he’s taken care of you quite a bit.

Little Lullabies
Holy shit why is this 4k words long what the fuck is wrong with me (I know why it's literally just a compilation of 8 ~500 word drabbles put into one post because they're all kind of connected) HEY YOU GUYS LIKE HURT/COMFORT?
BFs in this One-Shot: PoPr!BF (Biff, mine), cs!BF (Beefer, mine), wyd!BF (Beef, Karl's), fc!BF (Boyf, Keyy's), Cyborg!BF (Cyber, Keyy's), sfa!BF (Peacock, Shed's), S2!BF (Bee, Isaac's), Candy!BF (Blue, Slushgut's), Yourself (YS)
It was a little funny how Biff was more likely to go over to YS’s place than the other way around these days. At the start it wasn’t even possible for him to do that, so it made it seem like the smaller was making up for lost time every time he mirror-walked over.
This was not one of those days, though.
YS was proving to be a hypocrite. Just a little bit. He’d made Biff promise not to take on his bad emotions and feelings anymore after the one time. But now as he was sitting here, Biff pitifully laid across his chest, he really wanted to take a page out of his book and take his suffering away. Would that even work with how it was? He didn’t know, didn’t stop him from wanting to.
Biff was sick. Most likely nothing left in his stomach, everything having been emptied into the toilet earlier. Cherry was stuck at her parents’ for the weekend, and Pico had gone out to get a few things for the poor guy. YS was here to make sure Biff wasn’t alone as per his Pico’s request. The ginger had refused to leave the apartment otherwise. YS could have been the one to go out and let him stay with his boyfriend, but it wasn’t his world, he didn’t know where basic stores were. And by the time he’d realized he could just go back to his own to buy things, Biff had already gotten surgically attached to him.
“Pico should be back soon, little man.” YS said softly, a hand rubbing gently across Biff’s back. The small, in-pain whines he was hearing from the other was making him more upset than he needed to admit. “The worst of it should be over, you’ll start feeling better soon.”
“Stomach hurts.” Biff complained softly, his energy having been drained a while ago. “Trying to sleep, keep jolting… Can’t fall asleep fast enough.”
Well that wouldn’t do.
YS sighed, slightly frustrated that he couldn’t do more. He gently pulled Biff a little farther up into his arms, not wanting to aggravate his stomach more than it already was. It was easy to curl around his other selves when he was the tallest of them all. Regardless of his hesitations about his voice when it came to humming things, YS pushed that aside and let himself bring a bit of a lullaby into the air.
It was one he’d hummed to Biff before. Not the more music-box version of his own song, he’d only used that once and decided to take up a different to-go instead after. Personalized comfort, a song just for him when he needed it. It always worked, thankfully. YS could feel him sag further into his hold, the pained breaths becoming slower and more deep as he continued.
His Pico would be back soon, and Biff would probably need to be awake again to take some medicine and other things, whatever the hitman was getting. But YS saw no harm in leading him to doze off for a little. He needed the rest.
______________________________________________
Hot ball of hollow fire you are. YS thought to himself, slightly amused. It was rather interesting how quickly Beef had gone from being the equivalent of an angry rat backed up into a corner around him to completely okay and willing to be close. He was still surprised the other had the courage to go up to him and ask directly to be a little brother too. Not at all what he’d expected from Beef of all of the instances.
It was more than okay with him, though. Meant YS could do more to help, and be more efficient with it too.
It also made him happy that all of them along the line wanted to be his little brother but that wasn’t the point.
Beef had gotten overly-angry at something as far as YS could tell, and had come here as a way to cool off and remove himself from the situation. It wasn’t an argument with his partners according to him, which was good. But he was still adamantly refusing to say what he even got mad about. A little concerning, but he couldn’t force it. If they wanted to trust him then they would. It’s not like he could be talking, considering just how much he was hiding from all of them.
“Are you sure you don’t want to talk about it? Not even a little?” YS tried again, immediately going back on what he’d just thought. Just one more try.
“No.” Beef grumbled, shoving his face further into YS’s shoulder. “No talking. I don’t pay you to talk. Just want a hug.”
YS grinned, rolling his eyes as he let his arms encircle tighter around the other. Hug? Yeah, he could do that. Apparently he was really good at it. His best skill some would say, which was hilarious, but a nice feeling. Beef was hesitant in his endeavors asking for affection, so him being so direct about it was enough to earn him exactly what he wanted.
I wonder… YS thought, letting his mind wander a little into his own memories. Personalized comfort was always nice to have. There wasn’t much to be changed about a hug, not that any of them seemed to want it to change. But there was another thing he could do. Picking out a different one from his thoughts this time, he began to hum. Not the same melody he had for Biff, no. A different one picked specifically for Beef when he would need it.
Gotcha, you little shitter. YS thought mischievously when his humming coaxed Beef to all but melt into his embrace. Good to know that what worked on one would work on the rest in terms of offering comfort. Choosing a different tune for each would be a fun little game. You think you’re so smug having blackmail on me, don’t you? Now we’re even. But that’s a story for another time, I think. You’re safe to cool off here for as long as you need it.
______________________________________________
Boyf proved harder to completely curl around when he needed comfort. His fault for deciding to be a tall instance really, without the power to shapeshift. Didn’t stop him from being an oversized baby sometimes. Realistically, they kind of all were. But dammit, couldn’t this guy at least be a little shorter so he could be good at his hugging job? One of the apparent good parts of YS’s hugs was how he was able to completely surround them.
Boyf had a nightmare, apparently. He was getting nightmares often as of late. Why he’d come to YS in search of comfort compared to his partners was beyond him really, but he was here. And then he’d had the gall to look almost offended by the fact the taller had been awake at this god-forsaken hour. YS didn’t really sleep that much, they had to have figured that out by now.
The song YS had chosen as his to-go for Boyf was a little different. Somewhere along the line he’d gone searching for songs that weren’t exactly upbeat or uplifting to begin with, and he was using those to pick from and spin into comforting sounds instead. He wasn’t entirely sure if this one was working, though, because Boyf seemed to be grabbing tighter to his hoodie the more he hummed, and he really couldn’t tell if that was a good or bad emotional response.
“You okay?” YS asked gently, pausing his humming. He got a noise of complaint in response.
“Why’d you stop, don’t stop.” Boyf’s thoughts echoed in his head. “Keep going… please keep going. Miss my sister, she used to sing to me when I was upset…”
Ah. Good emotional response, then, entirely by accident. Boyf hadn’t done much to speak about his siblings aside from the fact he had them. YS knew his brother was Ritz, younger brother. And somehow it was a common theme across multiple universes that Hatsune Miku-- Yes, THAT Hatsune Miku-- was a sister. Kind of hysterical to think about, but he supposed weirder things had happened.
YS picked up where he left off, deciding that this song was a keeper. This would be the go-to for Boyf. He was still running with the personalized comfort idea, because the more he thought about it, the more he realized the things he was willing to do for them were things he’d wish he had someone do for him. It’s not like he’d tell them he had personalized lullaby choices for each of them though. They didn’t need to know all things considered. That would ruin his already fragmented facade.
“Keep going…” Boyf’s thoughts repeated as he snuggled further into YS’s arms. “Might fall back asleep here…”
YS sighed gently, bringing a hand up to scratch softly in Boyf’s hair. Such was his fate, getting stuck under another one of his selves. Well, it’s not like he was doing anything important anyway. Staring despondent at the ceiling isn’t so despondent when you had someone and their warmth to keep you company.
______________________________________________
YS knew that there was never going to be a time where you’d just be fully fine with severe changes to your body. He knew that very well, because most times he could be fine by not thinking about it but there would be other times where it would eat him alive. Beefer was no exception to this rule, but he kind of wished that he’d be that lucky. He wasn’t of course. There wasn’t much he could do about it other than just be there for the Dinaurian.
Beefer was hiding his face adamantly against YS’s chest. His eyes were closed, because he didn’t want to see. Didn’t want to see the tail, the overly pale white of his skin, didn’t want to see the elongated ears and claws, didn’t want to see himself. Changing species against your will wasn’t something YS had any experience with, but he assumed it was a special kind of hell to deal with.
“I’m grateful to be alive.” Beefer mumbled against the fabric of his big brother’s hoodie, almost like he was trying to… distract himself? Convince himself? “I’m grateful to be alive and that will never change. I just wish… it hadn’t been this way. Or that I didn't have to feel so gross about it.”
“I’m glad you’re alive too.” YS said carefully, unsure how to tread on this. “And I’m sure your Cherry and Pico are too. I wish I could say how to not hate it, seeing features that you never used to have. But I don’t know.”
“I know you don’t.” Beefer sighed. “I can’t expect you to. I just… wanted some comfort without judgment. Not that they would do that, probably, I don’t know. I don’t need to be giving them any more problems than we already have. They’re getting suspicious on why I disappear for so long randomly too. I can’t explain all this, not now, I don’t even know where I would begin…”
“You don’t have to.” YS placated quickly, letting his arms wrap around the Dinaurian softly. “Don’t worry about any of that shit here. If you need an escape then that’s what you’ll get. Try not to get yourself too in over your head with the secrets, though, okay?”
Beefer nodded, too tired now to respond. YS tilted his head with a sigh, knowing that this was sadly the best he could do. With the short conversation over, he put into practice his little plan again. Another lullaby came tumbling gruffly from his throat, this one being more of a proper lullaby compared to the rest. If nothing else, he could offer this to the smaller one.
At least it was doing something, though. Every time his target of comfort relaxed or snuggled closer, YS took relief in knowing he was at least doing something. Beefer would have to go back to his world soon to make sure his friends didn’t completely freak out about his absence, but for now he was free to stay and forget his problems.
______________________________________________
Compared to some of the others, YS hadn’t actually seen Peacock get genuinely upset about something much at all. Suppose that was a positive side to not caring much at all about most things, it made it easier to roll with sudden changes and unfavorable results to things. Sometimes not caring so much was a good thing, but YS couldn’t stomach the idea of doing that. God knows he cared almost too much. But that was him. He was actually a little lost for words on how he could make this better.
Peacock was more insistent to try and help YS with his problems despite being tight-lipped about them. So the fact he’d come through the mirror today looking like the world was ending, that was enough to freak the angel out a little. The hug and humming combo immediately jumped to his mind, and Peacock wasn’t complaining. So, hug it was.
It was thoughts about his Pico again. The ginger being so hesitant and cut off was bothering him. He didn’t understand why he was doing it again, running off on him when all he wanted was to have Pico back in his life and not have to worry about him disappearing again. Peacock wanted him there, but with the way the other was acting, it didn’t seem like that sentiment was a shared one. That would hurt anyone to figure out.
“He’s… being an idiot.” YS decided, resting his chin on the top of Peacock’s head. “I don’t know what his deal is. I don’t really know how to help, either. But you should at least know you don’t deserve this nonsense.”
“I just want him around.” Peacock grumbled softly, returning the other’s hug eagerly. “He doesn’t listen to me when I say that. Always rushing off and making excuses. Fuck, I was so happy when I ran into him again. Now it’s like I’m watching him pull away more and more each time he accidentally gets in my line of sight.”
Hopefully this idiot will stop doing that and come around or I swear I’ll go over there myself. YS thought. His ability to mirror-walk was still locked behind needing the rest to look at a mirror, or at least accidentally be reflected in something for him to get through. He was sure that would happen eventually, and YS could go on a hunt for this idiotic hitman. Though he was unsure if Peacock would want that.
There wasn’t much else he could really say to help, so now seemed like a good time to practice the humming part of his hug-hum combo. Another instance, another personally picked tune. If anyone was going to get the song that felt like flying above the clouds, it would be him. Angels could sense other angels. Peacock had always kept his wings out of sight whenever YS saw him around, but he knew he had to at least have them still. The sky was still a comfort they could both agree on. Maybe he hugged a little tighter to the other too.

Crying wasn’t allowed. YS already didn’t like crying when it was himself doing the crying, it made him feel stupid and ridiculous. An outward showing of his own turmoils that he hated letting other people know he even had. But when it was any of his other selves crying instead, somehow it made him feel even worse. It was like watching himself fall apart and knowing there was nothing he could do to stop it from happening.
Well, almost nothing.
He wasn’t sure which was worse, the fact that Bee was leaking silent tears while hugged to his chest, something that reminded him of himself and he hated the idea of any of them being like him, or the other possibility he could have gone with which was loud and unstoppable sobs. He’d prefer there to be no tears at all really. YS wasn’t entirely sure what exactly was wrong, if this had been caused by an action or words said, but anything that made his little brothers cry was bullshit and not allowed. God, they were turning him into such a dedicated protector, what was happening to him?
“Hey.” YS started softly, trying to capture Bee’s attention enough to get him to look up at him. “Come on now. I don’t know what’s going on, and I obviously won’t unless you want to tell me. But I can’t let you leave my apartment before you dry those tears.”
Bee just kept looking at him, unsure what to say. He knew what the problem was and even now with YS showing clear care for him his head was telling him it wasn’t deserved. I can’t believe I manipulated him into caring about me. “I just want to feel like I’m okay.”
A simple request and yet it wasn’t anything YS could fulfill for certain. He frowned slightly, offering Bee a sympathetic look as well as he could for how his face looked. “Not gonna let you leave until those tears dry.” He repeated. “I can’t do much other than remind you you’re wanted here.”
Bee buried his face back against YS at that, conflicting thoughts at war in his head. Face covered, he was slightly surprised when he heard YS start humming something. He’d heard the other sing before, he had a strong and commanding voice but it was nowhere to be found here. Gruff still, sure, but soft and comforting in a way he hadn’t heard before. A lullaby, for him? Soft and dragged out notes, no lyrics to be heard, just a melody.
As much as Bee felt like he didn’t deserve it, didn’t belong with any of them, he couldn’t stop the deep breath the sudden comfort drew from him. This was nice. Did he maybe deserve it after all?
“There you are, little man.” YS spoke between his hums, using the silly nickname he’d started using with Biff first. There were only so many variations he could say, after all. “You’re alright. Stay for as long as you need.”
______________________________________________
“Dude, be serious, you look like you’re about to pass out any second now.”
YS wasn’t even sure that Blue even had any problems to speak of. The dude was always overly happy and excited for basically everything, every time he’d come around to hang out was met with eyes full of wonder and an air of sunshine around him. But at the same time he came off as utterly clueless at best and straight up stupid at worst. To be fair, they were all stupid, but like, come on. Was this a persona he was putting up or was he genuinely just this excited and happy about everything? Maybe he was too air-headed to even tell he had problems.
It somehow didn’t seem like the dude even knew he wasn’t human as well. How do you go through life not knowing what you are? How do you just not know you’re an angel, has he just never looked in the mirror and seen literal wings and a halo?
“Noooo, no I’m fine!” Blue responded, clearly not fine. He looked just about ready to take the best afternoon nap of his life, but for some reason was stubbornly keeping his eyes open to stay watching shitty reality TV with his big brother. “I can stay awake, I don’t want to ruin my sleep schedule!”
“Dude.” YS snorted a laugh, shaking his head. “It’s not worth it to stay awake watching this shit. Nothing I have is good and you don’t have to pretend like I have anything exciting to offer.”
The words were met with a pout. YS rolled his eyes, wrapping an arm around him and guiding him into a hug. He’d already been heavily leaning into the taller’s shoulder and he put up no resistance. YS folded one hand into his hair and the other left comfortably on his back. “Take a nap, idiot. You’re clearly not going to last until your bedtime.”
“Bedtime? I’m not a five year old.” Blue fired back.
“Sure are acting like one right now.” YS teased, giving him a gentle squeeze. “Insisting on staying up because your big brother’s still up too? Very child-like behavior.”
It was fine, he was getting good at it now. Having all these times where his other selves came seeking comfort, and giving it all to them in the form of a hug paired with a lullaby. Blue didn’t necessarily need comfort in this scenario, but it wouldn’t hurt for YS to pick out a personalized melody for him too, just in case. Settling on another one he remembered hearing once, the tune rumbled from his throat while he let his hand massage into the other’s scalp.
“No fair…” Blue whined, already starting to lose the battle with his heavy eyelids. “Lullabies are cheating…”
“You’ll thank me later.” YS said in reply, a smug look on his face as the angel’s eyes slipped closed, body completely leaning into his own. Yeah, he was getting good at this.
Maybe he was proud about that.
______________________________________________
Maybe this time it was an instance where neither of them were okay. YS didn’t know how to handle this at all, looking at him made him want to tear his hair out and curse out whatever shitty excuse of a god was out there that let this happen. He knew he’d fallen into contact with this version far too early in the timeline, but he had been doomed to stay the moment he caught sight of him. Cyber. Another him, only 14 years old and possibly having the worst ending he’d seen yet. It wasn’t fair.
Cyber had died. He came from a world where the events at the school so many of the other instances of him experienced had gone wrong. They’d lost. The world was on the brink of ending and it was up to these kids to fix it. They’re just kids, how was that fair, it wasn’t fair, this wasn’t right. He’d died, only to be brought back as a fucked up science experiment by the aliens who’d attacked the school in the first place. A cyborg puppet meant to be used for destruction and conquering.
YS had found him locked in a shed with a dusty old mirror.
He couldn’t blame Cyber’s Pico fully. That Pico was also only 14, and what else was a kid supposed to do when they knew their dead boyfriend was dangerous, yet didn’t have the heart to let him go? Just kids, left to deal with all of this mess, this trauma. How was YS supposed to leave and wait for the timeline to advance to where they were the same age after seeing this?
He didn’t.
Cyber didn’t speak much to him, or at all really. The only thing YS had to go off of was the fact he wasn’t trying to attack him. Actually, the poor kid seemed to get attached to him rather quickly. His Pico had been slowly unlocking the human still left in him, and that part was fighting off the robotic programming. Slowly but surely, and the progress was far from linear. Sometimes it was all he could do to just not be violent, stay silent and huddle against the older for comfort. YS could do that. He could give comfort, because he was learning really fast he was entirely in over his head with some of his other selves. How was he supposed to fix this?
It was easy to completely curl around Cyber in a hug. Still small, he was supposed to be still growing at this point- would he even still get to? The lullaby he’d picked for the younger was repeating in his throat over and over, and for once it wasn’t as strong as he wanted it to be. His voice shook slightly, catching on itself the more YS thought about how fucking sad this situation was.
He was good at comforting the rest. That’s what he did.
But who, YS thought bitterly, who would be left to comfort him?
#RGBFverse#Big chunky writing for everyone#Cyber's here now we have overthrown Keyy /silly#Poor YS at the end though. He didn't plan for getting overwhelmed himself...#Playlist linked at the end <3

Princess.
It's four in the afternoon—when they decided to take a walk, strolling around the alley between booths in Inazuma City. Childe couldn't stop smiling when he sees Lumine with some kids right on the corner of the alley—giving candies and talking to them dearly. Her aura screams happiness and joy, thus why Childe loves that. Call him a simp, he doesn't mind it anyway.
Lumine is a lovable person. Everyone around her knows that she's a cheerful and very heartwarming. Even though it was just like the opposite one that happened with Childe, he still knows that this girl is a lovely one. Back then whenever they met in an adventure, all she did was throwing those unfriendly words towards him—just like what happened in Liyue.
"Oh, you're a fatui? I don't like you. Get lost!"
She said it in anger and... upset? Childe didn't even know what to say back then. Till he finally knew that Signora did something to the Anemo archon when Lumine was in a mission to safe Mondstadt. He knew in an instant that Lumine was—and still is an Honorary Knight of Mondstadt. Which finally caught Childe's attention and since then he never stop looking for her; just for him to be rejected only for a slight convo.
But they're here, reuniting again in Inazuma. Accidentally meeting in a mission that they needed to do together just so everything will return in the right place. Fuck the other mission that he's been carrying—he can do it later cause Lumine is here and there's no chance of meeting her again soon. And since the mission has ended, it's time to say goodbye. Here they are, in a not-so-called date. Childe just asked Lumine and brought her into this beautiful place of Inazuma City.
"You really wanna pay for my food?" Lumine asked, just making sure that she will probably eat a lot. Surprisingly, Childe nods to it excitedly. "Tell me what you want, I'll give you in an instant!" "I want a grilled giant shrimp!" said Lumine in instant. "Sure. What else, girlie?" Childe asked while walking besides Lumine, watching her thinking over what she really wants. "Hm... how about a box of Miko's newest edition of Inazuman magazine? Or the most luxurious Raiden Shogun figurine?" Lumine screamed a lil bit, making Childe chuckles. "We can get those! They are great tho. Anything else, princess?"
This time, Lumine stopped walking. Childe who realized what Lumine did, finally stopped walking too and waits for Lumine to talk. But what comes later, has surprised him. "You always said yes, but you know... you don't have to, right?" Lumine walked towards him and finally taking a step ahead of Childe—making him slightly letting a warm smile out of his lips.
"Let's just say... I'm doing a lil favor for my best friend." Lumine hears that and letting out a quiet sigh. "Also what did you say? Princess? That was how you supposed to call your girlfriend, ginger head! And I'm only your friend." she said. "Hm..." Childe looked like he's thinking so hard just by hearing what Lumine said earlier.
They're finally walking without words. A few minutes later, Lumine heard something from Childe that makes her blushes and feeling those butterflies in her stomach.
"... well then, should we date? Be my girlfriend cause I'd like to call you princess everyday."
Childe really knows how to make Lumine lost her whole sanity just with a sentence.

A little bit of sugar (and lots of poison too)
Yeah, I remembered this exists. Angst is coming here
Warning for Blood/gore and Major character death
"Isabela?" The young woman, winces, staring up at her aunt. Right now Pepa is an unspoken leader oh the household. As both Abuela and Mamá have fallen, because of somebody... She shakes her head, ditching the thought away.
There was no words to describe how bad Pepa looked. Black eyebags sat deep in her sickly pale face. She looked almost white, emaciated to the point when it really terrified Isabela, the edges of the bones were visible through the thin skin of her arms. Was Tía losing weight from anxiety or just so she would be a less attractive food, Isabela couldn't tell.
Isabela gulped, stepping back from the fence. "Tía, you should eat something, you look ill,"
"Can't force myself to take a bite." The older woman said, taking Isabela's hand. Isabela couldn't argue with this. She barely could eat herself. "What are you doing?"
Isabela's eyes shifted to the candle. The small flame waved like a child who just got a candy. Engraved butterfly flickered in gold, flapping its wings. The same candle that saved Abuela many years ago. The same candle that kept them somehow save for now. The same candle that made Luisa invulnerable.
"Casita said we'll lose our gifts if the candle is gone." Isabela breathed in explanation. She didn't have to look back at her aunt to see her reaction. The cold wind smashing against her was enough of a reply.
"Isabela!" The thunder clouds thickened over Casita, laying with the cold shadows. "We can't just..." The ginger woman groaned, leaning on the fencing of the second floor. "The miracle is what kept us save!"
Now, with weather lightening her strict exhausted face, Pepa looked a lot like her mother. The same hard steadfastness, refusal to navigate.
Isabela snarled, her plants bloomed around, breaking free from her emotions. "Right now it keeps us extremely unsafe!"
The thing was obvious. There was no hope of defeating her sister like this, and it didn't seem that Luisa intend to stop her cannibalistic habits any time soon. Isabela didn't want to lose her powers too, rip the magic's wings off. But it at least gave them a chance of surviving.
They don't say anything for a while. Isabela feels a strong wind messing her hair. The flowers lie of the floor, ripped off the beam.
"Luisa would be very strong even without a gift." Pepa whispers, rubbing her braid. Orange straids falling out from repeating movement. Isabela isn't sure. Okay, her siser might be an oversized giant, but how strong will she be? "I don't want you to..."
Isabela shakes her head, laughing. She can't let her fear show. She is Isabela, she can't be scared of Luisa. "I'd lay her on her shoulder blades with one arm." Just look confident. Tía already has two kids, Isabela didn't want ro make her even more worried. She pets her aunt's back in support. Just a thought about Luisa was enough to make her her stomach twitch. But right now it isn't important. Isabela has to fight for her family. She can deal with a little unsetting feeling. "Can you get the rest of the family somewhere safe?"
Rain drops from the sky. Isabela clentches her hands, everything will be fine.
"You won't believe what I had found!" Luisa broke into the room, excited.
Dolores groaned, rubbing her temples. "I'll become deaf with you one day." She fixed her coily straid behind her ear.
Luisa chuckled and waved her arm in neglectful sorry. Eyes glimmering. "I think I had found a Ancient Greece monument!"
Isabela rolled her eyes, leaning back to Dolores to continue theor usual gossip. She would deal with her sister later, it wasn't this important right now.
Mirabel put whatever she was embroidering away. "Luisa, I love you, but if Ancient Greeks had any relation to Colombia, then I'm a humanized miracle."
Luisa bumbled under her nose, upset with the lack of interest. Not like Isabela could blame Mirabel. Luisa was literally the only person who cared about some things that Ancient people had done somewhere when they existed.
Camilo tilted his head. Even if it wasn't anything related to Greece, he couldn't care less for that, it could make a great stage. Or just be used as an inspiration for a show. "Where is it? What did it look like?"
Luisa smile grew back, happy that at least somebody believed her. But, as she opened her mouth, it faded as fast at it appeared, replaced with a rapid twitching of her eye. "It was... I can't quite remember..." She muttered fixing her bun. "But I know I saw it! It..."
She couldn't remember. No matter how hard she tried, the thread was slipping out, cutting her fingers raw.
Mirabel stood next to her, concerned. "Luisa, are you okay? You didn't overwork yourself again? Should I call Mamá?" Again, motherly as she was, taking Luisa's big hand with a tiny palm.
Her head is spinning. Hatch, symbols, forest. It's all melting in her brain. She has been trying to help! Right! ¿Quién es ella?
I want to scream, but my lungs are dry, withered into two rotted bags. I feel how my body shinks, getting out the dirt. Trying to clean itself. I know I can't. What's happening to me? I'm fine, I'm completely fine. (She is okay)
She is frozen in my arms, almost breathless. My big hand squeezes her shoulder until the bones are cracking. Fingers tearing magnenta fabric. And blood is sinking from the nail scratches.
"Mija, how about you rest for today? You look unwell."
I wheeze, coughing the answer from my tranchea. "Don't worry." Forest thickens over my head. Bones snapping together.
Past and present are mixing together. What am I doing? The dry red stinkes on my fingers slips underneat, staining the wooden stand. I push it, breaking the surface. My mind is cracking, craving meat too much to care.
Everything is totally fine.
Pain what was broke her back. Luisa's breathing hitched. Was she moving? Was she existing? Her hand frantically touched her back. Then looked at it. Red and sticky, freezing to her fingers. She tried to speak but the words couldn't coen out of her sore throat. Trying to blink but she just clised her eyes, not remembering how exactly it was supposed to happen. There was some sick feeling inside get guts, but Luisa still didn't proceed what happened enough to realize it.
This time pain came into her stomach. Luisa hunched over, staring at her big sister. The knife that had stabbed her clanged against the floor as it fell out of Isabela's hands. What the hell was she doing??
It was enough to just clean the fog. Luisa froze, not moving. Not daring to breathe. She did... something bad. What have she done? Something... Why don't she remember it? Her vision flickered. Luisa stumbled back, her irises shrunk, for a moment seeing blood running up her arms. A torn body falling out of it.
Luisa's breathing got labored, her hands grabbed onto her hair in distress. Feeling wetness in her eyes. There was something wrong with her. There was something wrong with her and she didn't know how to fix it.
"Isa..." She looked back at her shocked sister. Seeing deep bruises on her neck. The trace of a palm that was too big to be anyone but Luisa's. Fabric on the shoulders torn. What was she supposed to say? What if she just hurt her again? The taste of a meat, human meat, was stuck to Luisa's throat.
What if she slipped back to that state? What if Luisa got back into that gutwretching hunger, drowning without a way out? Luisa coughed out the disgusting black thing, whatever it was. It clung to her fingers, against the lond-dried blood. There was something wrong with her and it wasn't fixable. She would... Today or tomorrow, it would overtake again. "Isa... You have... kill me, please." Her voice broke, feeling so weak. Maybe blood loos was fatal already, but she didn't know that.
"...what?" Isabela stumbled back. Heavy breathe running out of her chest. Yes, it was the plan. Kill Luisa so who's left will be safe. But there was a difference between killing somebody who acted like a murderer with a heart of stone, barely resembling human in her behaviour and... And killing Luisa in mental anguish. Killing somebody who begged for it. Because now Luisa was... Luisa again. She was Isabela's sister. It was so much easier if Luisa kept acting like she used to. Unresponsive to any words, not reasonable.
"I don't want to hurt anyone," Luisa cried, hunching over inder the weight of her soul. "What have I done? Why... BELA, PLEASE," hot tears burned her face, irrigating the dry eyes. She would just eat somebody alive if she's alive. She would hurt her family, who survived by now.
Isabela didn't want to hesitate, she wasn't supposed to. But she didn't want to kill her sister, only now remembering that it was Luisa. Here, right in front of her.
But, sometimes you had to push your oen feelings aside. There was no win in this game for both of them. No one could score them and say who was better.Isabela had picked up the knife. It's blade dripped with blood. From having stabbed Luisa twice. The first time when she tried to attack, the second from the rduh of adrenaline.
"Get down..." Isabela breathed out, feeling the wetness in her eyes. If she didn't know better, she would think she was crying. But... it was stupid, right? No, she wasn't... "I'll... try to make it quick."
Luisa didn't dare to say a word, to looks into Isabela's eyes. Feeling the weight of guilt on her back She kneeled, making the height difference between them disappear. Now staring onto the floor. It was getting wet with the sprinkles of tears. The metal pressed against her pale cold skin.
It was hard. Isabela didn't think anything existed. Only her hand that pressed a knife against her hermanita's neck. You will bleed fast from here, right? She tried not to think about it. But it was hard. Isabela clenched her teeth. One second. It would take just a moment. (That will last forever). Isabela pished herself by bare instinct, digging the knife deeper into the neck. And the blood has spilled out, escaping the wound.
Isabela felt it clinging to her body hot and disgusting. Rooting deep under her skin like a weed. She gasped in horror, clinging to Luisa who was loosing so much blood. And Luisa wasn't in a better mental state than Isabela at all. The latter felt her dress getting wet in where it was pressed against Luisa's face. Isabela's cried into Luisa's hair. It was painful, it was wrong in so many way.
Luisa fell, a heavy limp weight on Isabela's body that was dragged down with it. Isabela was alive, survived. But she didn't think she was survivor at all.

Angels AU: Aus getting carsick on a roadtrip
You always had to make sure when you were packing for a roadtrip with the babies that you always took Aus's special bag. His special bag consisted multiple sick bags, his nausea medicine, his favorite sick stuffie, ginger candy, a paci, lavender essential oil, a tiny fan, and everything else the poor baby may need when he's in the car and not feeling the best. You barely ever take roadtrips with the boys because Austin is always carsick and miserable most of the time. But you've got to this time.
It all starts with an "uh oh". You turned around, concerned. "What's uh oh baby, does you tummy feel sick?" And before Austin can answer, poor thing projectile vomits all down himself. "Oh baby, oh no, you're okay, we'll get you changed."
Jerry pulls off to the side of the road and you get out, quickly helping Austin, careful of the vomit all over him and get him some fresh air while Jerry stays back to comfort a scared and upset Elvis. He hates seeing his 'brother' sick.
"You're okay baby, it's okay. Do you think you're gonna puke some more?" Austin snivels and shakes his head, rubbing his eye cutely with his hand. "No... go home mama." "I'm sorry baby, we're almost home, let's change you out of these yucky clothes, alright? How's your pants bubby? Does mama need to change your diaper?" You asked. "Jus' wet mama.." Austin whined. You nodded. "Alright, we can fix that little man okay? Everything's gonna be okay."
You made quick work of getting Austin out of his ruined clothes. As soon as you do, he tries to curl up on his side, cradling his stomach. "No, no baby, mama has to change you." Austin whined and turned his head to the side, gagging and burping. You gasped, helping Austin sit up so he can spit up a bit of bile out the door of the car while you rubbed his back. "Oh, I'm so sorry baby." Elvis tried to reach for his brother, wanting to help.
"He'll be okay buddy. It's alright, he's okay." Jerry tried to help calm Elvis who was quite worried. Jerry grabbed a fresh bottle of water and handed it to Austin to wash his mouth out. "Slow sips honey." You warned him.
You quickly got Austin in a fresh diaper and his clothes changed, (his vomit covered clothes were zipped into a ziploc bag to be washed once you got to your beach house) you tried to put Austin back into his carseat but Austin was refusing to. He was scared to be sick again and he connected that being in the car made him sick.
"Honey, we have to get back in the car.. We can't walk to the beach house!" You attempted to calm him but Austin just cried, scared. "Home, mama! Go home please!" You tilted your head toward the sky, cradling his head in your hand as you held him. "We are going home sweetie. We're going to our beach house." Hearing house, Austin looked at you, confused but curious. "Yeah, people can have two houses! We all deserve a break huh? And you guys can play on the beach and sleep in your own beds at night still." Hearing you talk about his bed, Austin whimpered and just pillowed his head on your shoulder, snuggling in. You felt so bad for your little boy. You kissed his sandy blonde curls and looked to Jerry for help. "What do I do here?" Jerry shrugged, playfully tugging at Austin's foot to show he was still there too.
"I have some nausea medicine for him and we can just try to get him to go down." You shrugged. Anything to make sure he's not sick again. You paced in the fresh air trying not to rock him too much hoping he'd fall asleep soon. "Shhh, baby, you want to go nini?" You asked as you still heard him whimpering on your shoulder. "Yeah.." Austin whispered. You nodded, bouncing him a bit. "You can go nini after taking some medicine okay? It'll help your tummy." It took a minute but eventually Austin took his medicine and you helped him wash the taste of it out of his mouth with his water.
It took twenty more minutes but eventually Austin fell asleep. It took you another ten minutes to carefully and slowly load your exhausted sick boy into his carseat but finally you two were off again. You checked on the two boys in the mirror when you heard whining and saw that a still worried Elvis was attempting to cover up his sick brother with his blankie. "Aw thank you baby, I bet your bother likes that." Elvis gave you a small smile, happy to help even just a little bit. "Yeah your such a good brother, baby."
Austin almost made it through the end of the trip at this point. You had forty five minutes until you got to your house when you smelled a familiar smell and Austin started absolutely screaming. "Fuck, it's both ends." Jerry whispered as you realized he had happened to have a poop explosion in his diaper.
Jerry quickly pulled into a gas station and parked the car and you hopped out, opening Austin's door and trying to figure out how to grab him out but not make more of a mess. "I know honey, I know. I know your pants feel icky."
You decided to change him standing up so that you didn't get the mess everywhere. Austin was whining the whole time but at least you didn't have to spray him off. "Okay baby, you're all clean. Do you think you can make it another 30 minutes? Then we'll be home." Austin wiped his wet eyes and nodded. He was so sad but so cute. "Home please." You nodded. "Okay, let's go home."

The Carsick Fic is here! I hope you enjoyed it! I love the Angel AU

been dealing with the side effects of new medication and I’m imagining dad Copia/father figure Copia fretting over either his daughter or a Sibling of Sin going through it. He knows from experience with his own anxiety medication that side effects can feel awful.
He brings cups of water for dry mouths and encourages a diet of bland foods and apple sauce until stomachs are settled.
He waits on them hand and foot despite Imperator hounding him to get some work done. He even gets one of his Ghouls to watch out for them if he isn’t available
He always carries ginger candies. They help with upset tummies and he learned that very early on, especially since he's on multiple different anxiety medications. (Shut up I'm not projecting)
Imperator can get as upset as she wants to but copia is just doing what he wished someone had done for him when he started new meds. I think he would also reassure them that certain side affects are COMMON and expected within the first few months so please don't panic

Household recipe in this house is Cider pack + 2oz Fireball (or fireball plus spiced rum) with a splash of (flat) ginger ale.
You can substitute a small amount of maple syrup for the rum and add a bit of cinnamon (or pop a cinnamon candy like Hot Tamales into it) as a non alcoholic option.
Personally my favorite Hot Beverage is a perhaps bizarre combination of Green Tea, brewed very strong, with Licorice Spice tea (licorice root, cinnamon, cardamom, orange peel and vanilla) added for the last 2 minutes or so, and sometimes a pop of either chamomile or mint depending on my mood, added at the last 40 seconds or so. This combined with wild honey and 2-4oz of half-and-half makes for a very refreshing, sweet drink that reminds me of vermouth. (Which I am tragically allergic to).
I don’t make it very often, but every now and then I get cravings for it; I also Love to eat maple cookies with licorice tea, and almost always use maple syrup in it if I’m not mixing it with anything else.
(In case you haven’t noticed I’m a weirdo who actually really likes the taste of licorice, which is ironic because I HATE the candy, except weirdly for jelly beans, lol. But the original hard candy stuff? It’s bitter and just ick. Actual licorice is very sweet, almost sickeningly so, and is very good for upset tummy because it’s thick and coats the stomach like mallow, but is not anywhere near as dangerous.)
Chai tea bag + lil but of brown sugar + apple cider packet + 16 oz. mug of hot but not quite boiling water
it will not Fix You but like. maybe. maybe.

Managing Pregnancy Discomforts: Tips for Relief
Pregnancy is best described as a wonderful period brimming with happiness, pleasure, and enthusiasm. But together with joy, it causes various physical and emotional nuisances in everyday life. At Diva women’s Hospital we understand that each woman and her pregnancy is special and so are the challenges she faces. Here are brief descriptions of many annoying pregnancy symptoms and ideas for making them more tolerable so you can enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest. However, if taken under the correct procedure you can actually relieve such symptoms to ensure that pregnant women enjoy their pregnancy period.
1. Morning Sickness Relief
Among the earliest complaints which many women think of as a normal pregnancy complaint is nausea and vomiting, often called morning sickness. It can be a bummer during the first months of pregnancy and, while it usually fades by the second trimester, it can be quite annoying in the beginning.
Tips for Relief:
Small, Frequent Meals: Dividing food intake into little portions consumed throughout the day is suitable when it comes to controlling nausea as well as blood sugar level.
Stay Hydrated: It is wise to avoid foods that will trigger nausea, or better still take a sip of water, ginger tea or lemon water. Self treatment by choice can lead to: Dehydration as it is a worsening factor to morning sickness.
Ginger and Peppermint: Ginger is also recommended to help cure nausea. Ginger can be taken in the form of candied ginger, ginger tea, or even ginger supplements, but only with your doctor’s recommendation. The warm tea may also ease an upset stomach.
Vitamin B6: A few propose that taking vitamin B6 would decrease the symptoms of morning sickness. You need your doctor’s advice before adding any supplement to your diet.
2. Managing Heartburn and Indigestion
In the process of growing your baby places pressure on your tummy, thus leads you to bouts of heartburn and indigestion. Hormonal fluctuations also affect digestion hence it causes a discomfort.
Tips for Relief:
Avoid Trigger Foods: It’s also important not to consume foods with peppers, fatty foods, and foods with tomato sauce since they can cause heartburn.
Eat Slowly: Clenching and rolling foods in the mouth and taking time to chew considerate allows for easier digestion and avert acid reflux.
Sleep Elevated: Stomach acid may also be minimized you are pregnant by lying down on your left side, with your head and upper body propped slightly upward.
Smaller Portions: As with morning sickness, splitting the portions through the day lessens the chances of indigestion.
3. Alleviating Back Pain
Lower back pain is very frequent in pregnant women, especially from second and the third trimester of pregnancy. This is because it limits exertion of force in exercise in addition to exerting added weight and altering the center of gravity hence exerts pressure on the spine.
Tips for Relief:
Practise Good Posture: You may also stand up straight to relieve strain on your back as well as sit up straight from your seat. It is advisable to have a cushion or a pillow placed behind your back when sitting.
Prenatal Yoga: Stretches and prenatal yoga help to tone your belly muscles, increase flexibility and decrease back pain.
Wear Supportive Shoes: It is advisable to wear flat shoes that are as comfy as we want our feet to be with good arch support.
Use a Maternity Belt: A maternity support belt worn around your belly can minimize the stress at the lower back as your belly grows.
4. Combatting Fatigue
Pregnancy fatigue, especially during the first and third trimesters, can leave you feeling exhausted. Hormonal changes, increased blood production, and carrying extra weight all contribute to low energy levels.
Tips for Relief:
Take Naps: Rest as much as possible during the day, especially if you’re not sleeping well at night.
Eat Energy-Boosting Foods: Incorporate iron-rich foods (like spinach, beans, and lean meats) and foods high in protein and complex carbohydrates into your diet to maintain energy levels.
Stay Active: While it may seem counterintuitive, light exercise like walking or prenatal yoga can boost your energy and improve your mood.
Stay Hydrated: Fatigue can be worsened by dehydration, so make sure you’re drinking enough water throughout the day.
5. Reducing Swelling and Leg Cramps
Swelling in the feet, ankles, and legs is another common pregnancy discomfort caused by the body’s increased fluid retention and circulation changes.
Tips for Relief:
Elevate Your Feet: Whenever possible, elevate your feet to reduce swelling.
Compression Stockings: Wearing compression stockings can help improve circulation and reduce swelling in your legs.
Stay Active: Light activities like walking or swimming can promote better blood circulation.
Leg Stretches: Regularly stretching your calf muscles can prevent or ease leg cramps. A warm bath before bed can also help relax your muscles.
6. Coping with Frequent Urination
As your baby grows and puts pressure on your bladder, frequent trips to the bathroom can become a normal part of your day and night. While this can be frustrating, it’s important not to reduce your fluid intake, as staying hydrated is crucial for your health and your baby’s development.
Tips for Relief:
Reduce Evening Fluids: Drink plenty of water during the day, but try to reduce your fluid intake a couple of hours before bedtime.
Pelvic Floor Exercises: Doing Kegel exercises can strengthen your pelvic floor muscles, which can help manage the urge to urinate and prevent incontinence.
7. Dealing with Mood Swings
Hormonal changes, physical discomfort, and emotional stress can lead to mood swings during pregnancy. This emotional rollercoaster is perfectly normal but can be overwhelming.
Tips for Relief:
Rest and Relaxation: Ensure you’re getting enough rest and finding time to relax. Deep breathing, meditation, or prenatal yoga can help reduce stress.
Talk About It: Share your feelings with your partner, friends, or a healthcare provider. Sometimes just talking about what you’re going through can make a huge difference.
Join a Support Group: Pregnancy support groups, whether online or in-person, can provide a space to connect with other expectant mothers who understand what you’re going through.
8. Skin Itching and Stretch Marks
As your skin stretches to accommodate your growing baby, you may experience itching, dryness, or the appearance of stretch marks.
Tips for Relief:
Moisturize Regularly: Applying a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer or oil (like coconut oil, cocoa butter, or shea butter) can keep your skin hydrated and reduce itching.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can also help keep your skin moisturized from the inside.
Wear Loose Clothing: Opt for breathable, loose clothing to avoid irritation and overheating.
9. Tips for Better Sleep
As your pregnancy progresses, finding a comfortable sleeping position can be challenging, especially with back pain, leg cramps, and frequent urination disrupting your rest.
Tips for Relief:
Sleep on Your Side: As your bump grows, sleeping on your side, particularly the left side, improves blood flow to your baby and your kidneys.
Use Pillows: Use pregnancy pillows to support your belly, back, and legs. A body pillow or multiple smaller pillows can help you find a more comfortable sleeping position.
Create a Bedtime Routine: Establish a relaxing bedtime routine to signal to your body that it’s time to rest. Consider reading, warm baths, or listening to calming music.
When to Seek Help
While these discomforts are a normal part of pregnancy, it’s important to listen to your body. If any symptom becomes severe or unmanageable, don’t hesitate to seek medical advice. Some discomforts can be a sign of a more serious issue, such as preeclampsia or gestational diabetes.

Maintaining good health is important for every traveler's pleasure of the trip.
No matter where your travels take you, these easy home remedies can help you feel your best.
Home Remedies for Travelers
Packing the Essentials - Key Remedies to Bring Along
Bring a few basics for your health before you leave. If you feel ill, these can be lifesavers and do not take up much room.
Bring along small amounts of tea tree oil (for minor wounds), chamomile tea bags (for relaxation), and ginger (for nausea).
You can prevent a pharmacy quest while you are in a new location by keeping these treatments on hand.
Immune-Boosting Remedies to Keep You Protected
The most beneficial thing when traveling is an effective immune system, particularly when you are interacting with new people and experiencing unfamiliar situations.
Simple immune-boosting ingredients like vitamin C, ginger, and honey are convenient to use and pack.
The natural qualities of honey can relieve sore throats, and ginger tea can help you stay warm and keep off colds.
Additionally useful and occupying very little room are chewable vitamin C tablets.
Natural Remedies for Motion Sickness
Motion sickness is a serious problem for many passengers on buses, airplanes, and boats.
Ginger candies, peppermint tea, and essential peppermint oil are examples of natural remedies that can be beneficial.
While peppermint oil, applied to your wrist or neck, can produce a pleasant, relaxing aroma that reduces dizziness, ginger is widely known for reducing nausea.
Staying Energized - Remedies to Combat Fatigue on the Road
You may feel exhausted after a long day of travel. Try ginseng tablets or green tea instead of sugary energy drinks.
Ginseng can help you stay focused during long days, and green tea gives you a subtle lift without a large collapse later.
Also excellent for on-the-go, healthy energy boosts are nuts and dried fruit.
Soothing Digestive Ailments - Remedies for Upset Stomach and Bloating
Your stomach may become irritated when you try new foods or eat at different times.

The Best Remedies for Pregnancy Nausea: Finding Relief with Stomach Drops and More
Pregnancy is an exciting journey, but for many women, the early stages can be marred by morning sickness. While it's a common experience, the constant nausea and queasiness can make even the happiest moments feel overwhelming. Finding relief becomes a top priority, and luckily, there are several pregnancy nausea remedies that can help you manage the discomfort. From natural methods to specific products like Stomach Settle® Nausea Relief Drops, there are options for every mom-to-be.
Understanding Pregnancy Nausea
Nausea during pregnancy, often referred to as morning sickness, affects up to 70% of pregnant women. It typically starts in the first trimester and can last throughout, though the intensity and duration vary for each woman. For some, it’s a mild inconvenience, while for others, it can become debilitating. Finding remedies that are safe and effective is crucial for maintaining a healthy pregnancy and enjoying this special time.
Morning sickness is usually triggered by hormonal changes, particularly the increase in human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and estrogen. Though it’s called morning sickness, the nausea can strike at any time of day. While some women experience it only in the early weeks of pregnancy, others continue to deal with nausea well into the second or even third trimester. This is why many women are constantly on the lookout for the best nausea relief to manage their symptoms.
Natural Remedies for Pregnancy Nausea
When you're pregnant, it's important to be cautious about what you put into your body, which is why many expectant mothers prefer natural remedies. Here are some popular options that have helped many women settle an upset stomach during pregnancy:
GingerGinger has long been celebrated as one of the best pregnancy nausea remedies. Whether you opt for ginger tea, ginger candies, or even fresh ginger added to meals, it can provide soothing relief. Ginger helps to ease nausea by promoting digestion and relaxing stomach muscles. It’s no wonder that many products, like morning sickness candy, incorporate ginger as a key ingredient.
PeppermintPeppermint is another tried-and-true remedy for nausea. Sipping on peppermint tea or sucking on peppermint lozenges can help settle an upset stomach and calm queasiness. The soothing properties of peppermint make it a go-to remedy for pregnancy nausea.
LemonThe fresh, zesty scent of lemon can help reduce nausea. Many women find that sucking on a lemon or drinking lemon-infused water can be incredibly effective. Lemon ginger drops, like Stomach Settle®, combine both lemon and ginger for a powerful nausea-relief combo. The natural acidity of lemon, paired with the anti-nausea benefits of ginger, makes it a popular solution among pregnant women.
AcupressureSome women swear by the use of acupressure wristbands, which apply pressure to specific points on the body believed to relieve nausea. This method is based on traditional Chinese medicine and has gained popularity as a safe and drug-free way to manage pregnancy nausea.
The Role of Stomach Drops in Nausea Relief
One of the most convenient and effective remedies for pregnancy nausea is using stomach drops. Products like Stomach Settle® Nausea Relief Drops combine the power of ginger, lemon, honey, and B6, providing a gentle yet effective solution to soothe your stomach. These drops are designed to settle an upset stomach quickly and naturally, making them a perfect option for pregnant women who need relief on the go.
Unlike other nausea remedies that may be difficult to take during a wave of nausea, stomach drops are easy to carry and use. Simply pop a drop into your mouth, and you’ll start to feel the calming effects almost immediately. They come in flavors like Lemon Ginger Honey, which not only tastes great but also targets the root cause of nausea.
Why Choose Stomach Settle®?
Stomach Settle® has become a trusted name in nausea relief for good reason. The brand combines natural ingredients known for their anti-nausea properties, such as ginger and lemon, with the added benefit of B6, which has been clinically shown to reduce nausea in pregnant women. Whether you're dealing with morning sickness or just need a general solution to settle an upset stomach, these drops are an excellent option.
In addition to being effective, Stomach Settle® products are convenient. Many women find that keeping a pack of morning sickness candy or nausea drops in their purse, car, or bedside table is a lifesaver during pregnancy. The compact, portable packaging makes it easy to have relief whenever nausea strikes.
Other Remedies to Consider
While stomach drops can be incredibly effective, they are not the only solution available. Here are a few other tips to manage nausea during pregnancy:
Eat Small, Frequent MealsEating smaller, more frequent meals throughout the day can help prevent nausea. Empty stomachs can exacerbate feelings of queasiness, so try to keep snacks like crackers or fruit on hand to nibble throughout the day.
Stay HydratedDehydration can worsen nausea, so it's important to drink plenty of water. If plain water doesn't sit well, try adding a splash of lemon juice or sipping on ginger tea.
Get Plenty of RestFatigue can make nausea worse. Make sure you’re getting enough sleep and taking time to rest when needed.
Avoid TriggersCertain smells or foods can intensify nausea during pregnancy. If possible, avoid strong odors or foods that tend to trigger your symptoms.
Final Thoughts
Pregnancy nausea doesn’t have to be something you just suffer through. With a range of remedies available, from natural solutions to effective products like Stomach Settle® Nausea Relief Drops, you can find the best nausea relief for your needs. Whether you’re looking for a simple stomach drop or trying out home remedies like ginger and peppermint, there are plenty of ways to settle an upset stomach and enjoy your pregnancy to the fullest.

Go with your Gut: Optimizing Diet for PD Symptoms
Have you ever heard the phrase "trust your gut"? Well, it turns out that there's more truth to it than we might have thought.
Scientists have found that the gut interacts with the brain in intricate ways, causing significant changes in our mood. While it was earlier believed that anxiety and depression can cause constipation, nausea, and other gastrointestinal symptoms, recent studies have shown that an upset gut can in turn result in anxiety and depression as well.
Hippocrates once said, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food,” a sentiment that resonates strongly with our Indian traditions of Ayurveda. While diet alone can't replace medicines, it can certainly complement their effects, thanks to the intricate relationship between our gut and brain.
Several scientists are now exploring the impact of diet on PD symptoms. While no specific diet is a “PD diet”, there are dietary interventions that can address specific bothersome issues.
In general, research suggests that some aspects of a diet can alter the severity of the symptoms and their progression rate. The main suggestions that these studies have provided are as follows-
Fresh vegetables and fruits, nuts (walnuts, pistachios, etc.), fresh herbs and spices (turmeric, cumin, coriander, mustard seed, cloves, etc. ), coconut oil, and eggs seem to be associated with reduced symptom severity and reduced rate of progression of PD symptoms. A diet rich in fresh vegetables and fruits might be beneficial for all PD patients.
Dairy intake, canned fruits and vegetables, and fried food have all been seen to increase the rate of symptom progression in PD, and avoiding these might be beneficial.
Carbidopa-levodopa, the most common PD medication, is absorbed in the small intestine. If taken together with a high-protein meal, its effect can be minimized. In order to obtain its maximum benefits, it's recommended that you accompany it with a low-protein meal, and have your protein-rich foods like lentils (dal), kidney beans (rajma), eggs, or meat at other times of the day.
Additionally, certain symptoms can also be managed better with some tweaks in everyday diet, following are some suggestions that have been reported.
Constipation- Eating food high in fiber (fruits with peel, vegetables, and legumes) and drinking more fluids can help reduce constipation. Drinking warm fluids in the morning can be specifically beneficial.
Gastroparesis (stomach takes a long time to empty its content)- Avoiding large high-fat meals has been recommended.
Nausea- Small portions of meals can help avoid feeling full. Ginger candies or ginger tea can help reduce the symptoms as well.
Low blood pressure- Eating small meals frequently, increasing fluid intake, and decreasing dehydrating drinks like coffee and alcohol can be helpful.
Swallowing problems (coughing, choking or food feeling "stuck") - Dietary changes like softened food or food that stimulates swallowing (carbonated, sour, or seasoned food) can help. Eating slower or eating small bites can also help.
Sleep Problems- Melatonin-rich fruits such as pineapple, orange, and banana might be able to help improve sleep problems. However, these should be taken in moderation.
Cognitive dysfunction- Acute caffeine consumption helps improve performance in cognitive functions. Its consumption is recommended in the military ration.
Gait and Balance- Ensuring adequate protein intake to maintain muscle strength is recommended. Foods rich in B vitamins like whole grains, eggs, and lean meats might also be beneficial.
Some supplements are also said to be beneficial but there is still a lot unknown. Make sure to talk to your doctor before starting the use of any supplement. Supplements can have unnecessary side effects that can be avoided if they are approached with caution.
Although dietary changes can help improve symptoms and symptom progression, it is important to keep in mind that the diet has no “fit-all” rule. In case, changing a certain aspect of your diet aggregates a symptom, it is advisable to revert back to your normal diet and contact a health care professional.
If you are attempting to change your diet, remember to do so in moderation. Like Sant Kabir Das said "Ati ka bhala na bolna, ati ki bhali na chup. Ati ka bhala na barsna, ati ki bhali na dhup." Moderation is the key.
