A new walking dead game was just announced! Walking Dead "Destinies" which is supposed to let the player rewrite the events of seasons 1-4. I know its production has nothing to do with the shows, but I found it really interesting how it puts rewriting and changing fates at the forefront, specifically in characters not dying... almost like that's a theme of the property that's about to be relevant! (Also I believe there's a split second where Beth appears with the group at the end :)

Yeah for sure! Lots of people talking about this. I saw this Ask come in, and then my fellow theorists were discussing it as well. I'll give you some of our conversation below, but we basically had the same thoughts.

It's like they're trying to get us thinking about what things would look like if certain people hadn't died. Even if nothing in the game is really about Beth, and nothing in any of the TWD spinoff shows has anything to do with the game, it still feels like they're hinting at something.

And you're right that we do see Beth--mostly just the back of her head--in the final shot around the campfire. This is super interesting and super exciting. Can't wait for the DD spinoff because I feel like it's going to have lots of great stuff for us. The advent of this game around the same time is just more of the same.

Guys I found something sort of interesting. There’s a new video game coming out called The Walking Dead: Destinies. It’s plot revolves around the ability to change the things that happen in the first four seasons. The trailer focuses on what would happen if Shane had killed Rick, but that seems like just the beginning. We’ve talked about multiverse scenarios pertaining to the A/B theory.

Especially after Blair/Gina, I’ve asked, what if they did something like this? What if they went back and showed the life that happened if they hadn’t lost the prison, or if Beth hadn’t died. A/B. It seems like even if we’re off, this idea of alternate realities is on the minds of tptb, as they’re inviting us to create just that with this video game.

There’s no release date yet tho I definitely plan to play it when it comes out. Since there’s a gameplay trailer, I think it’s possible it will get a Christmas or Q1 2024 release.

Beth will obviously be in the game. I find it interesting they chose seasons 1-4, ie: the first movement of the show prior to the coda. Just super interesting!

Also, if nothing else, this gets audiences thinking about like, what if the thing we thought happened didn’t happen at all?

Like if we found out Beth wasn’t dead, what would that change?

Just saw that the release date has been leaked as November 4! Ofc not official. But that’s interesting as it would balance w the end of DD. Many are asking, why not seasons 1-5 since season 5 is so pivotal? I have to ask, maybe there will be DLC (little mini add on games), but also, alternate endings based on player choice may show us alternate outcomes for season 5 specifically. If Hershel is saved, for example, in season 4, what does that change?

I won’t lie I’m super excited! And like I said I will be playing it so I’ll keep you guys apprised if ever little thing. 😂

former  colleague  of  lucille.    he  worked  at  the  same  hospital  as  her  as  head  of  trauma  surgery.    dante  joined  the  saviors  around  season  four  of  spn;    negan  called  him  out  to  the  sanctuary  to  tend  to  a  seriously  -  wounded  savior.    this  became  a  regular  occurrence  until,  eventually,  dante  opted  to  join  the  saviors,  finding  more  purpose  there.    knows  negan  isn’t  the  same  man  he  used  to  know,  but  feels  responsible  for  him  in  lucille’s  absence.

daryl  dixon,  canon,  soldier    —    norman  reedus

daryl      (    briefly    )      found  himself  a  prisoner  at  the  sanctuary  after  his  brother,  merle,  stole  a  bunch’a  shit  from  the  saviors  during  a  case.    after  seeing  him  fight  in  the  demon  ring,  negan  took  an  instant  shine  and  made  him  an  offer.    he  refused,  but  came  back  three  days  later  after  finding  a  dead  merle  torn  apart  by  a  demon.    he’s  been  one  of  their  best  hunters  ever  since.

dwight,  canon,  lieutenant    —    austin  amelio

dwight  and  his  wife  joined  the  saviors  after  ghouls  murdered  sherry’s  sister.    unfortunately,  sherry  was  later  killed  and  replaced  by  a  shapeshifter,  who  began  to  turn  dwight  against  negan  for  fun.    he  still  got  his  face  burnt  as  punishment  for  being  so  easily  led  against  their  leader  and  has,  rightfully  so,  secretly  plotting  against  their  fearless  leader  ever  since.

regina  (gina)  potter,  original,  vender    —    gina  torres

gina  is  a  retired  veteran  who  lost  her  entire  base  camp  to  a  wendigo  while  serving.    naturally,  nobody  believed  her  and  she  was  instead  honourably  discharged  with  ptsd.    began  investigating  the  supernatural  world,  which  led  her  to  come  across  the  saviors  as  they  looted  a  roadhouse.    gina  is  now  an  outpost  vender,  in  charge  of  distributing  supplies  such  as  weapons  or  food  fairly,    as  well  as  acting  as  a  caretaker  to  the  younger  residents  they  take  in.

kaia  (kai)  nhan,  original,  lieutenant/savior  trainer    —    levy  tran

works  as  a  loyal  lieutenant  as  well  as  training  potential  recruits  to  see  if  they’ve  really  got  what  it  takes  to  become  a  savior.    kai  joined  herself  when  negan  saved  her  from  being  possessed  by  a  demon.    used  to  work  as  a  tattoo  artist  and  still  kinda  does  as  a  side  hustle  whenever  somebody  in  the  gang  wants  some  fresh  ink.

laura,  canon,  lieutenant    —    lindsley  register

laura  is  introduced  in  season  one  of  supernatural  and  is  the  first  person  to  willingly  follow  negan  after  he  saved  her  from  a  monster.    her  sister  sadly  didn’t  survive.    read  more  about  their  origin  here.    she  has  been  loyal  ever  since.    previously  worked  retail  at  a  cinema.

vincente  vargas,  canon,  soldier    —    manny  montana

based  on  the  unnamed  canon  character  gracie’s  father.    following  the  reveal  his  wife  was  a  demon,  vincente  learnt  this  meant  his  daughter  was  a  cambion.    the  saviors  promised  them  sanctuary  in  return  for  his  loyalty.    previously  a  boxing  gym  owner.

simon,  canon,  negan’s  right-hand  (traitor)    —    steven  ogg

simon  is  introduced  in  season  two  of  supernatural  as  a  ready  -  made  hunter,  already  part  of  a  group  being  guided  by  an  incompetent  leader.    he  helped  laura  and  negan  stage  the  mutiny  that  saw  the  saviors  born.    you  can  read  more  about  their  origin  here.    since  then,  simon  has  began  to  stage  a  second  mutiny;    this  time  against  negan.    this  will  eventually  lead  to  his  demise  at  negan’s  hands.

lydia,  canon,  resident    —    cassady  mcclincy

lydia  is  the  child  of  a  villain  known  as  alpha.  though  her  mom  used  to  be  an  ordinary  woman,  dee  lost  herself  after  surviving  a  possession.    like  nick,  she  became  addicted  to  the  power  that  came  with  being  a  vessel  and  began  seeking  out  that  high  by  allowing  further  temporary  possessions.    each  one  chipped  away  a  piece  of  her  soul  until  there  wasn’t  one  left:    only  a  monster.    negan  put  her  down  and  lydia  is  now  protected  by  the  sanctuary.

reginald  (reggie)  bane,  original,  simon’s  replacement    —    thomas  ian  griffith

promoted  after  the  downfall  of  simon.    reggie  acts  as  head  lieutenant.    martial  artist.    former  us  marine  and  occult  weapon  collector.    recruited  by  the  saviors  when  they  sought  him  out  looking  for  a  particular  ancient  sword  he  was  in  possession  of.    him  and  negan  are,  at  times,  just  as  unhinged  as  each  other,  which  can  work  in  everybody’s  favour  or  no  one’s.

[ New ] | @ginaannr:  The call every mom hopes she never gets... Thankfully, he’s going to be ok and thankfully I’m here with him! He was thrown off of his horse yesterday afternoon. Thank GOODNESS he was wearing a helmet. He has a pretty bad concussion and is in a lot of pain but no broken bones! I took the first flight out to LA and got here at around 9:30 last night. Keep him in your prayers!! Oh, and I had missed his episode so I stayed off of social media until I finally watched it this morning. Thank you for all of the kind words!!! .

This is one of my 3 fic commission requests for March (requests are currently closed)

This one is dedicated to @starshinesupergirl, who wanted a reader named Gina and fluffy Negan. I had the idea to do some slow dancing, so asked for her favorite slow song, which you can listen to HERE

Slow It Down

The soothing sound of music drifted around the bedroom, as the afternoon sunlight streamed in through the lone window. After so much time without something as simple as music, it was a luxury to hear the comforting notes emanating from the old record player you had recently acquired. As one of Negan’s wives, you were afforded luxuries others weren’t, and you couldn’t help but snag the old record player when it had popped up in the commissary a few weeks ago after one of The Saviors’ supply runs. There had also been a few records to choose from, and you had been overjoyed to see some older albums that caught your attention and brought up a sense of nostalgia.

 Organizing your room as the music played, you had just finished making the bed when you stopped to soak in the melody floating from the record player. Standing there in the middle of the room, you closed your eyes and allowed the music to take you back to a past memory, when walkers didn’t roam the earth, and when music and dancing were as common a daily activity as breathing. Hips swaying, your body moved in time with the alluring beat, as the music flowed through your veins.

 Turning dreamily, you gasped at the sight of Negan standing in your doorway, his hip cocked and shoulder resting against the doorframe as he stared at you, a smirk playing around the corners of his lips. A blush heated your cheeks at the thought the he had been watching you, had seen you lost in such a private moment.

 “Damn, Gina. I didn’t know that you were a fucking dancer,” he drawled, eyes trailing up and down your form, even though you were no longer moving.

 “I’m not, really,” you replied. “I just…well…I miss it. The way music used to be everywhere. How you could go out and dance in public, either alone or with someone else, and no one thought twice about it.”

 Realizing how ridiculous that probably sounded, you stopped talking, instead giving a shrug and picking an imaginary piece of lint off the front of your shirt.

 At that moment, the song ended, leaving the room in silence for a few seconds. Then, one of your favorite slow songs came on, and you couldn’t help but give a small smile and glance at the record player. It was “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes” by The Platters, and you had always thought it was one of the most romantic songs that had ever been written.

 Negan must’ve noticed your reaction, because he stood up from the doorframe and sauntered further into the room, towards you. Stopping when he was right in front of you, his tall form towering over your own, he stripped off his leather gloves and tossed them onto the newly-made bed, behind you. Jumping slightly at the feel of a surprisingly gentle hand resting on the curve of your waist, Negan lifted his other hand up to shoulder height, and waited.

 Feeling as if you were in a dream, but not yet wanting to wake up, you immediately raised your hand to mirror his, a shiver running through you as his large, warm hand wrapped around your own.

 Taking a step to the side, he pulled you with him, and you gasped as he started up a slow, steady rhythm in time with the music. Holy crap, he’s slow dancing!

 Never in a million years would you have expected this of Negan. In fact, you honestly hadn’t even known he had it in him, to carry a beat like this. His feet moved perfectly with the beat, carrying him slowly around the room. And you willingly followed, the two of you flowing so smoothly that it felt as if your feet barely touched the ground.

 Pulling you in closer, he leaned down so that his mouth was near your ear, and started humming along to the music, his stubble grazing your cheek as his hard chest moved against you in delicious friction. A shiver went through you as his deep voice softly sang a couple lines of the lyrics…words that you hoped, deep in your heart, that he truly meant.

 So I chaffed them, and I gaily laughed

To think they would doubt our love

 Sighing, you closed your eyes and let yourself be whisked away to another world, one where it was just you and Negan, no one else. No walkers, no apocalypse, and definitely no fearing for your life on a daily basis. Here, with the music flowing through the room, and Negan’s large, warm body enveloping yours, it was possible to forget all your worries. To feel safe and secure and loved.

 All too soon, the song ended, silence filling the room as the two of you slowed to a halt. It had only lasted a couple of minutes, but that dance had meant everything to you. Tilting your head back, you smiled affectionately up at Negan, who was staring back silently.

 “Thank you, I missed doing that,” you whispered, your eyes conveying what words could not.

 His eyes twinkled softly in return, his one hand giving yours a gentle squeeze, while the other slowly glided up the curve of your waist before falling back to his side.

 “No problem, doll. I guess now we can say we have our own song, huh?” he joked with a playful wink, before turning and heading for the door.

 Stopping at the threshold, he turned back just as a new song started playing, this one with a faster beat. A slow smile curled across his lips as he looked you over, and commented, “Next time, perhaps you can dance for me, show me some more of those fucking delicious moves you were doing earlier.”

 Grinning mischievously back at him, you asked, “Do I get to pick the music?”

 “So long as I get to pick your outfit,” he smoothly countered.

 You tapped a finger against your lips, as if contemplating the terms, before arching a brow and saucily replying, “Make it red and sparkly, and you’ve got a deal.”

 His eyes darkened with lust, but his smile was tender and full of affection as he softly replied, “Deal,” before exiting the room.

what makes you so sure Beth could still come back after so many years? I thought she might for a long time but honestly it'd be a recycle of the Madison plot on Fear and now again with Rick. Three times repeating the same plot thread is pushing it don't you think? It's surely not good story telling for every ambiguous character death to be a fake out which is what it would be. It'd make it too predictable even for a general audience.

Actually, that's exactly what makes me think she WILL come back. There are some fans who think that every time TWD does a circular arc, or a resurrection plot, that it's lazy writing.

It's not. You're welcome to your opinion and if it's not your thing, of course you're not going to like it. But it's the opposite of lazy writing.

TWD writers do the circular arcs intentionally. Which means it's the opposite of lazy. It's very well thought out. I think it's mostly thematic. We tend to repeat the same toxic patterns in our lives until we figure out how to actively break out of them. They sometimes show this literally (think Gina and Blair of Tales) and other times it's more subtle.

But my point is that there are tons of similarities between Beth's arc and Ricks, and between Beth's arc and Madison's. So, the fact that they did death fake outs for both Rick and Madison is exactly what tells me that Beth will follow the same patterns. The similarities are put in intentionally, as is the repetition of the arcs.

The instant I watched Madison's "death" episode, I knew she wasn't dead and would be back. I won't say I knew instantly with Beth, though I suspected. But I was 100% certain by 5x10. So again, I'm just pointing out that reading this symbolism a certain way has been correct 99.9% of the time. That's all.

49. who are your favourite couples on TV? Captain Swan (of course!), Peraltiago, Jim and Pam, Nick and Jess, Booth and Brennan, Glenn and Maggie, and Gina and Rosa (even tho they’re not official, I like them!)

44. if you could replace any actor on TV in playing their role, who would you like to play and why? For a female role, definitely Emma Swan because her character has always been so inspiring to me (same with Ruby Lucas). But if I mix it up and go for a male role, probably either Doug Judy or Jake Peralta because I love their wit and how dorky they are (and also they’re supper chill and support women which is so great)

26. favourite TV show theme song? Oh, there’s so many good ones out there. I always chime along to the OUAT theme and TWD theme (even if I don’t watch the Walking Dead that much anymore). And then there’s New Girl (i love singing along to this one, it’s such a cute theme!) and of course, the pinnacle of all themes, the Office!

27. which actor do you think deserves an Emmy for their work on TV? Oof, again - SO. MANY. but off the top of my head, definitely Robert Carlyle for his role as Rumple in ouat (i may not be a huge fan of Mr. Gold, but Carlyle delivers the role so. well!). Andy Sambery as Jake Peralta, Jenna Fischer as Pam Beesly, Andre Braugher as Captain Holt, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as Regina Mills (again, not a huge fan of the character but incredible actress oh my gosh), and so many other amazing actresses and actors!
