Happy Belated Birthday to the ethereal Gilbert Cocteau, one of the two tragic protagonist of Keiko Takemiya's controversial LGBTQ manga Kaze to Ki no Uta.

Gilbert Cocteau is as a beautiful as an angel, but his life is filled with sadness and horror due to being abandoned by his mother and sexually abused by his sinister uncle. At the exclusive all boys boarding school of Laconblade Academy, he finds love and companionship with the kind hearted but also misunderstood fellow student Serge Battour. However, their fairytale ending is not to be as they encounter the harsher realities of life in 19th century France.

Although it is very disturbing at times, Kaze to Ki no Uta is one of my all time favourite manga series due to the compelling emotional content and the breathtaking art.

My Picmix composition combines an image from the original manga with digital edits.

it's easier to say it than it is to show it, but we know gilbert is quite touchy (in general) and, when he feels bad, all he wants most of the time is to be touched, to feel serge by his side, so ... he will usually just plop down by him if they're sitting together, or extend a hand to him, or go up to him and redirect one of his hands to his cheek.

serge usually accepts this, other times he just wants to be alone and to cry on his own, but most of the time they both seek each other for comfort if it's available :)
