I sent them on a three hour tour
Tumblr media
(Real ones would know this is actually a redraw of something I did a year ago but I like Gilligans island so I had to bring it back with other outfits they wore during the show.)
Im gonna be honest, I got to into this I made a whole fucking essay about my thoughts and choices behind this and why some characters are who they are in uh. Gillian’s island au.
Gilligan-
Percy and Gilligan share amazing and beautiful traits like; being an annoyance to everyone else, being small, it’s ambiguous if he’s stupid or just accident prone and unlucky, as well as doing anything their captain requests to the best of his ability. Percy takes that last part a little more seriously than Gilligan (if ykyk) as well as the 5 hour tour literally just FEELING like a thing he and Sidney would do together as part of one of their schemes and a first mate role like that is one he would naturally fit into. He also looks great in the first mate costume he should’ve been a cosplayer.
The skipper-
If Percy is Gilligan, Sidney had to be the skipper there’s no other way. That’s kinda my main reason as to why I drew him as the skipper. It helps that he also likes to push Percy around and do a lot of his work for him as well as trying to take a leader role in group situations. Outcomes vary.
Millionaire and his husband-
Alessandro and Seth have basically next to nothing in common with the Howells. Like at all. But I drew them as these two because it just felt odd to make a group drawing and not include either of them, bizarre business there. It’s funny to draw them as these two though because one of the things Alessandro and Seth bond over is being from one of the more poor regions of their country. They also have feelings towards eachother but because of their respective life situations and personality clash, they both know it probably could never work out between them at least not long term. Drawing them as these Howells is fun though because in this universe they’ve been married for 25 years, they’re filthy rich, one of the most relaxed pairs on the island, and Alessandro gets to call him “Lovey” like on the tv show. That’s sweet to me. It’s like an Opposite Day world where they actually achieve their goals lol.
The professor-
Adela much like the professor has a more mysterious background compared to other characters and has a weird amount of knowledge in various helpful things that manifest in fun ways, despite this, Adela never does any inventing things like the professor does, as cool as it would be to see her make a guillotine sad day. They also have a background in botany which is a fun coincidence. She could’ve fixed the boat I know it…
Mary Ann-
Both Mary Ann and Audrey are naive ingenue archetypes with dead and dying parents so that’s a big plus as to why she’s the Mary Ann of the group. Besides that they don’t have too much in common, Mary Ann is a very sweet and subdued lady and while Audrey can be that, she’s much more of an impulsive fidgety geek.
The movie star-
I originally didn’t have a movie star. First thinking about it a yearish ago I thought Louisa would be a good movie star fit but I didn’t have her ref at the time so bummer. A friend of mine said I should’ve drawn Francis as the movie star because he would’ve absolutely rocked the low cut sparkle dresses. This is still up for debate. However I decided to draw Curtis as the movie star for three big reasons. Mary Ann and Ginger are canonically very close. Audrey is already my Mary Ann, so it just made sense to me to have Ginger be someone she’s already close to. Reason two is Ginger is the most influential and socially respected in society because of her wealth, beauty, and numerous roles in tv. Curtis is also influential and socially respected but because he’s a politician not because he’s a good actor. And finally. Reason three. I think if I remember correctly, the skipper had a thing for Ginger on the show. It’s unclear if Sidney likes Curtis romantically or not but this sure was a bonus.
I’m deeply sorry to friends and followers that like my ocs and want to genuinely know them, this is the only way you will. Through my riddles.

the song says gilligan is “a mighty sailor man”
so we have to assume that either the narrator is unreliable, or he’s competent at sea but just cannot handle being on land at all

This reminds me of the Gillian’s island movie that came out after the show (I don’t remember how much later but they changed the Ginger actress it’s a whole thing)
In the movie, the get off the island! The island they’ve been stranded on for 3 years! They get back to their lives and they’re not bad off either; couple of billionaires, a well renowned professor, and actress. They should feel great about their lives now. Skipper has a new boat!
But they don’t, they feel lost and they hate it. They’re not content, uneasy.
Then something happens. There’s some sort of insurance thing that goes wonky (I can’t remember what) and they have to do the three hour tour again! They’re over joyed to be in each others company again!
And then they get stranded again… and they are so content, they feel like they are home.
Idk this post reminded me of that.
in my mind post-voyager harry kim gets fast-tracked to captain and spends a good portion of his time secretly fantasizing about finding a wormhole to the delta quadrant and disappearing into it. he hears about what happened to chakotay and is upset and worried over it but another small part of him is like god i wish that was me

Uncharismatic Fact of the Day
Lobsters in a tree? No, that's just the tree lobster! A member of the stick insect family, this species is considered one of the rarest insects in the world. They are endemic only to Lord Howe Island, a tiny island between New Zealand and Australia, and were believed to have gone extinct in 1918. However, a population of 24 live specimens was rediscovered in 2001, and extensive captive breeding has expanded the population to well over 10,000!

Fuck it we going to make this short. Jaune is the Odyessus of RWBY.
Don’t believe it. Let’s do this.
Exhibit A: Pyrrha and Athena
Tumblr media
Both are smart. Have won tournaments. Both wield a spear and a shield as primary weapons. They both have taught someone how to fight. Even giving praise to them sometimes. Even though Atheana is immortal it still doesn’t change their similarities.
Exhibit B: Jaune and Odyessus
Both characters do not fight well. They are cunning. They will do whatever it takes to win. Even through underhanded tactics. And they are both hated by the world. Don’t believe me.
Exhibit C
Odysseus and Jaune were trapped on an island for years. Bedding outside forces to escape.
Tumblr media
Exhibit D
Both lost friends and allies due to the said allies not listening to them or doing their own thing.
Tumblr media
Oh and those underhanded tactics;
Exhibit E
Jaune cheated into Beacon despite not nearly being on anyone's level. Then we have Cinder who he…
Tumblr media
Yeah, we know he is willing to kill this woman by any means.
Or how was willing to steal from the Atlas military?
Tumblr media
Despite the holes in the plan it still worked out in the end.
Then when Jaune, Ren, and Yang were captured, Jaune used the war to go get Oscar and when the dust settled they got away.
Tumblr media
And though it hurt him he still killed Penny and more lives were saved for it.
Tumblr media
And using the leaves to separate the Cat from Neo.
Tumblr media
Then Odysseus;
 Using Moly to fight Circe
Tumblr media
Uses wine on Cyclops to put it to sleep and stabs its eye.
Tumblr media
Sacrificing his crew to save himself and others.
Tumblr media
And finally, dress as a beggar to kill Penelope’s suitors.
Tumblr media
And this four. Not counting the other things he’s done to win.
My point? Trust me, when I say, Jaune is the smartest character in RWBY. He is the MVP of the show. The biggest factor. He is the Oddyssus of the show.
Also, if there is going to be volume ten involving Jaune, then Gillian, Jax, and probably Tyrian are dead. Gillian’s semblance is to drain aura away from her opponents. She’s also cunning, and if she is willing to pull any tactic, she will make her dreams come true by all means. Jaune, who has amplification and has been fighting for years, not only counters her semblance but is equally as devious as her.
And then Jax's semblance involves him taking your will- Dominating your soul through suggestion in the mind. Jaune who already survived the Ever After, is one place that messes with your subconscious the most.  Has more experience at using a sword. And has a stronger will than Jax does.
And Tyrian…. Yeah, we all know I want a Jaune vs Tyrian fight. Let’s not be surprised.
I’m not saying the fight will be easy… but I’m just saying… Jaune got it.

Hello!!! Welcome to the Sunday Scaries!!! Thank you for the tags @heartstringsduet @henrygrass @emsprovisions @everlastingday @nisbanisba
Some Uncle Paul content from the This Infinite Love continuation. Apologies this one is very fresh, thus quite rough.
“Why is my son running around the house rapping the lyrics to Big Poppa?”
Three dots immediately begin to flash across the screen.
Jonah’s voice floats through the house as he zips through the living room and starts to run laps around the kitchen island.
All the honeys gettin' money playin’ fellas like dummies
It’s followed by an exasperated “dude!” from TK who’s trying to make lunch.
The ding of Paul’s response pulls Carlos’s attention back to his phone. “Because it was an important lesson before we get to ATLiens.”
Carlos sighs. Paul takes his role as godfather very seriously, and one of the most important lessons (to him) that he’s bestowing to his godson is the history of hip hop. This has meant countless afternoons hearing Jonah rap along with Grand Master Flash and De La Soul from the backseat, and bedtimes reading and rereading books like The Story of Rap and the kids’ biography of Queen Latifah that Marjan bought him.
“Little man simply won’t appreciate the genius of OutKast if I don’t teach him about Biggie first.” Comes Paul’s follow up.
“Okay, but could you maybe pick a different song. I don’t think this one is appropriate for my six year old.”
Paul’s response comes fast. “Oh please, it was the radio edit. Besides, he was dancing around your kitchen with your husband the other night to a Shakira song that I’m 99% sure was about some dude hitting her g-spot.”
He drops the phone with a groan. “TK!”

i'd like to think that the island of mideel is a sort-of ff7 universe equivalent to real-world iberian peninsula, with banoran being portuguese and mideelian being spanish. it's not as simple as that, of course, as (specifically european) portuguese and spanish are very different languages despite sharing approximately 89% of their vocabulary
but i'd like to think that it's a good basis for developing language and cultural headcanons for mideel. banoran is the far smaller language, with all of the residents of banora being expected not only to learn mideelian but also common at a very young age. their culture is similar to the rest of mideel while staying distinct, partially due to the influence of shinra moving their staff there around the time of gillian hewley's house arrest and partially due to natural cultural development differing despite small geographical distance
people from mideel generally don't learn banoran - they understand enough of it and why bother to learn such a small language if all the residents speak mideelian anyway. there are of course exceptions, but mideel in general also has very complicated views on banora due to shinra's influence over the time and banora's sudden rise to fame with its banora white production. it sucks to live so close to the source of the best fruit in the world but mostly losing access to it due to all of it being either processed into juice and other food items or being exported to midgar and the gold saucer
both genesis and angeal learn mideelian before they learn common, but by the time they join shinra they are more than fluent in all three languages, with only a mild accent betraying where they're from. genesis does more than angeal to hide his accent. while he's not ashamed of where he's from, he embraces the city life of midgar with all he has, even if it means picking up the same odd way sephiroth speaks. it's a lot of effort and whenever he gets top emotional he stops caring. angeal doesn't care. as long as he's understood he doesn't give a shit if he has a perfect midgar dialect or not
they still speak banoran together whenever it's just the two of them, and after a while they start to teach sephiroth some of the words. they're proud of their language and culture and will always always be quick to correct people when they say they're from mideel (we're from banora, you utter imbeciles - genesis, probably) because at the end of the day, it is its own distinct place with its own history, similarity to mideelian language and culture or not
