Lamorne Morris playing Garrett Morris, Dylan O’Brien playing Dan Aykroyd, Cory Michael Smith playing Chevy Chase and Matt Wood playing John Belushi
EXCLUSIVE: Lamorne Morris, Dylan O’Brien, Cory Michael Smith and Matt Wood have joined the cast of Sony Pictures’ SNL 1975 that will be directed by Jason Reitman and based on the real-life behind the scenes accounts of the opening night of Saturday Night Live. Morris will play Garrett Morris, O’Brien will play Dan Aykroyd, Smith will play Chevy Chase, and Wood will play Belushi. The original screenplay is written by Reitman and Gil Kenan.
On October 11, 1975, a ferocious troupe of young comedians and writers changed television forever. SNL 1975 is the true story of what happened behind the scenes that night in the moments leading up to the first broadcast of NBC’s SNL. It depicts the chaos and magic of a revolution that almost wasn’t, counting down the minutes in real time to the infamous words, “Live from New York, it’s Saturday Night!”
The screenplay is based on an extensive series of interviews conducted by Reitman and Kenan with all the living cast members, writers and crew. Reitman, Kenan, Jason Blumenfeld, Erica Mills and Peter Rice are producing.
Morris can currently be seen in FX’s fifth season of Noah Hawley’s hit drama series Fargo as North Dakota Deputy Witt Farr. He joined the cast of Netflix’s Unstable for season two opposite Rob Lowe. Prior to this, he starred as the titular lead in the hybrid live-action/animated Hulu series Woke, inspired by the life and art of cartoonist Keith Knight.
O’Brien was most recently starring in Ponyboi, which premiered as one of ten films in the U.S. Dramatic Competition at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival. Up next, he will be seen in the feature films Caddo Lake, from the writing-directing team of Logan George and Celine Held and producer M. Night Shyamalan, and Anniversary, a thriller co-starring Diane Lane, Kyle Chandler, Zoey Deutch and Phoebe Dynevor. His other credits include Searchlight feature Not Okay from writer-director Quinn Shephard, the critically-acclaimed crime drama The Outfit, opposite Mark Rylance, Zoey Deutch, and Johnny Flynn; Paramount’s Love and Monsters and the popular Maze Runner franchise
Best known for his role on as the Riddler on the popular Fox series Gotham, Smith can currently be seen as Julianne Moore’s son in Todd Haynes’ May December. He most recently starred as Varian Fry in Anna Winger’s limited series Transatlantic opposite Gillian Jacobs and Corey Stoll for Netflix. Smith has also worked with Todd Haynes in both Carol (as private investigator Tommy Tucker) and Wonderstruck.
Wood has appeared in the original Broadway cast of Spongebob Squarepants and as husky kid icon Augustus Gloop in the Broadway First National Tour of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Television credits include Law and Order: SVU, Instinct and Difficult People.
Morris is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, The Lede Company, and Myman Greenspan Fox Rosenberg Mobasser Younger & Light. O’Brien is repped by William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Principal Entertainment LA, and Lichter, Grossman, Nichols, Feldman, Rogal, Shikora & Clark. Smith is repped by Circle of Confusion. Wood is repped by BRS/Gage Talent Agency.

I’m new to the fandom too, but from what I’ve gathered it was after Zazie Beetz was cast that they decided to make her black. They didn’t make Amber black and then look for a black voice actress. It does LOOK sus and fall into the placeholder woc gf trope, so I get being upset at first glance. That’s also why Eve stayed the same, Gillian Jacob’s was cast and she was already white so they didn’t change her. This is just me assuming at this point, but I also don’t think they changed Eve’s look to match Gillian’s because Atom Eve has a cool and iconic look with her red hair and pink suit, and changing her to be brunette would be lame 😭 whereas Amber being another white blonde lady isn’t important or memorable, and in my opinion Amber being a woc who cares about her states comptroller DID make her cooler and more interesting to me because I can relate to her now like I could relate to Eve’s personal life.
Okay... not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with my post, but I'll try to respond as best as I can. If I misunderstood anything you said, feel free to correct me.
It's not the fact that they made Amber black and Eve white that I take issue with; it's the way they wrote Amber as an afterthought (some of her dialogue is oddly unsympathetic, which I think was just a screw up by the writers) and that fans overhate her. AND. it's the fact that Eve is portrayed as 'saintly' in contrast. Eve is almost not human in how understanding she is of Mark and what he's experiencing, but no empathy is extended to Amber even though she's not a superhero and is in a relationship with Mark. It's far more difficult for someone in Amber's position to adjust to Mark's lifestyle.
Yes, understanding is required on both sides. But I think some people fall into this trap of ignoring the nonpowered person's perspective and instead saying "well, they're not out saving the world, so they can't complain." The whole point of Debbie and Nolan's falling out is to show that Debbie's side of things IS important and that the superhero isn't always in the right.
My argument isn't that Amber shouldn't have been black if Eve's race wasn't also changed (though keeping Eve white raises an interesting question), it's that she should've been written thoughtfully. Her being a poc shouldn't have also made her reductive. I get she's a placeholder in the comics but it looks BAD the way they handled her character, because Mark ends up being paired with a white woman. And if what you're saying about the casting is true, then I think I can say that making Amber black wasn't a thoughtful and purposeful decision. Ergo, her relationship with Mark wasn't thoughtfully written and fans unnecessarily made her the villain. I think it's stupid that they developed this great character and reduced her to a terrible woc character trope.
It's a damn shame they started to build a really interesting woc character and then threw her away as soon as she stopped serving her purpose as a placeholder for the white woman love interest.

Thoughts on Invincible Season 2
Just my raw thoughts not a review or anything
After quite possibly the worst way to release a second season of all time, Invincible 2 is finally fully out and my thoughts are as disjointed as the release schedule. I really liked the first season of Invincible, it was a breath of fresh air and reignited a lot of love for the genre in a post-Endgame world. Now after two whole years of waiting and a dumb 2 month break between episodes we are here and again it is still pretty good but a lot of its goodwill has been lost to circumstance.
This season mainly centers around Mark becoming essentially the main guy for Cecil while still not joining the Guardians of the Globe as well as his struggles with having a relationship while being a superhero that sometimes just disappears for a while and the emotional disconnect that causes to both himself and his girlfriend Amber. The execution of both the themes is good as it generally is with Invincible yet it doesn’t feel as special as the first season if that makes sense, I’m not sure if its related to the long hiatuses or just changing in times but while still an incredible show there is no existential necessity to see what comes next unlike with both the first season and the fantastic Atom Eve standalone. The voice acting is as remarkable as always but it still needs to be praised how locked in everyone is in a cast that is mostly celebrity voices, in any other context the cast listing would look questionable but their actually try and it comes out terrific, Steven Yeun bring as humanity to Mark that makes him as endearing as he is while also having the gravitas of a larger than life role in a world already filled with those, while his in the show father Omni Man voiced by the always phenomenal J.K. Simmons brings in some humanity and vulnerability of his own this time around to a characters that left last season feeling like the antithesis to those same themes, lastly I wanna bring up Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve because while a lot of other performances were good (shoutout to Grey Griffin as Monster Girl too) I feel she brings something special to the cast in a way similar to her role in Community all those years ago, her role this season is mostly inessential yet she comes of as the glue that makes it all come together in the end similar to her iconic portrayal of Britta Perry, I didn’t expect her to turn out to be this good of a VA but hey Yeun was also a massive surprise so the casting director deserves massive props here.
Now here is my attempt to wrap up this train wreck of I wrote, Invincible Season 2 was really good, if you liked the first it’s more of the same while bringing in new themes, it’s not as good looking as the Atom Eve standalone or as interesting in its plot as Season 1 but still it’s worthy of a watch and there is a lot to enjoy by just sitting down week by week to see a new episode, I just wished they allowed us to do as much.

There's probably almost no audience niche enough to understand this but I bet tumblr is the closest I'd ever get.
Gillian Jacobs's character "Mickey" in the show Love on Netflix is my style icon and I'm finally emulating her at a level I can respect myself over. That's it that's the take.

Actually Pinterest gets it 👍🏻
