Harrison smiled, his friend’s foray into fixing unexpected objects no longer unusual to him. “Playstation, huh? That’ll be a good distraction from school work. When you’ve got it figured out, I challenge you to drunk Tony Hawk showdown or whatever game you end up rigging.” He took another sip of his newly poured beer, and sighed happily. “Man, it feels so good to be back here. I was going nuts back in San Diego with my family, it’s nice to be with people my own age, for a change.” He turned to Adam. “So how was your summer, then?”
“I like to think so,” he smiled back. Adam wasn’t the best student, but if he gave himself a reward for doing all his homework, it might as well have been something he actually enjoyed doing, outside of the academic obligation. “Oh, if you can find it, I will totally take that challenge, you’re on.” He laughed, taking a sip of his drink and twisting a little on the stool to actually face the other and speak to him properly. “I was actually doing fine,” he said. “Helped my mom out with some prop work, she gave me another two typewriters because she’s running out of room, so now my apartment has seven that I don’t know what to do with. Otherwise fine, saw some friends from high school while they were home for college, tried to spend it like a normal person.”

“Whatever.” she replied, not really caring whether or not the other meant to bump into her on purpose or not. Clary has never been the warmest face on the planet and it was clear as day to see that firsthand right about now as she basically scolds the other for something he didn’t even do on purpose. “Uh wow, I didn’t think you’d actually do that.” She admitted, slightly surprised, people usually ignoring her whenever she suggests something even remotely close to what she had said the other owed her. “Thanks.” She replied as the other handed her her new drink, taking a sip of it before then setting it back down on the table. “Cool name, I’m Clary.” she replied with a hint of a smile.
Well, at least he was trying. He couldn’t blame the girl for being irritated at his mishap - he’d probably be a little annoyed himself if that had happened to him. But in a few seconds it was cleared up and he furrowed his brows at her surprise. “Of course I would, it’s only fair,” Adam said, simply. Did other people not think that way? He had been told before that he was too nice. The new drink was made and Adam sat back in his seat with his own, taking a long sip, before finally ordering his food to the bartender. Of course, if he really wanted to, he could have just gone in the back and made it himself, but his feet hurt and this was more comfortable. “Oh, thanks,” he said, giving her a slight smile. He always thought it was common, he’s met so many Adams in his life. “Yours is cool too... Were you at Camp a lot? Cause I wasn’t, really. Just for the summers.”

CORI DEFINITELY WASN’T A BEACH PERSON, BUT SHE MADE HER EXCEPTIONS and adam would absolutely be considered one. last time they’d talked, she remembered how he mentioned he’d be living closer to the beach come the new semester. well, she’d recalled getting excited at the idea of catching him shirtless.
like children of poseidon should avoid the skies, it was wise for children of zeus to steer clear of the water. so she’d go to bask and bake, but never dare dip her toe in the sea. luckily, her effort of a beach day paid off as adam drew closer, “adam? hi!” she said, pulling down her sunglasses as if this were some big shock, “yeah! well! didn’t have much other place to go, but, yeah!” gods this was so dull. flipping the switch, she cast out her line, “you are looking exceptionally toned today. have you been working out more?”
“That’s true,” he laughed. “A school just for us, you know, can’t get any better than that - what are you studying?” Adam shook his feet, one at a time, to get some of the excess sand out from his sliders. “I am?” he asked, genuinely surprised, looking at himself before shrugging and completely missing the point of her words. “I mean, I haven’t been doing my normal stuff since moving in, I got a little backlogged on projects and then I couldn’t pull myself away from them, so I guess I’ve been doing better?” Ever so polite, he came a little closer and pointed to the sand beside her. “If this sand isn’t taken, we can hang out, if you want?” He looked at the sky with a squint. “I think it’s supposed to rain a little later, but my apartment’s over there to dry off, if we have to. Of course, you could ask your dad to keep the skies clear?” he joked.

THE DRUNKEN CYCLOPS SOMETIMES FELT LIKE IT HAD BEEN FORGED JUST FOR ELVIS. sure, some might call his drinking habit a “problem”, but when it came to the ‘clops ( as he affectionately called it ) they never dared to cut him off. it was the perfect place to come mope in a beer and get too friendly with the other bar patrons.
he was a largely emotional guy, sure, but a little spilt beer and a frantic clean up did little to phase him. “hey man.” elvis drawled, “don’t worry your pretty little head about it.” he tapped the other playfully on the shoulder, “mistakes happen! c'est la vie!” rather than grow further outraged at the other, he scooted in, “whatcha drinking?”
Adam grew more at ease when it was apparent that the other really wasn’t too phased by the accident. Lucky for the both of them, it had just spilled over onto the bar, and not on anyone’s clothes or person. He had chilled out a little, and the bartender helped him out some by getting out a towel. “Oh, just a margarita,” he said. “Wanted something a little stronger than a beer... I work here, I just finished a shift about a half hour ago.” He took another sip of his drink, lips curling a little at the taste. “I’m starving though, I need to eat something or this is gonna run right through me, and I’ll hate myself in the morning.”

Clary had just finished her final class of the day and decided to head over to the Drunken Cyclops for a drink, she was for sure going to need it after the long day she’d had, especially since she got stuck with the most boring professor ever. Ordering her usual, she then sat down in the first empty seat she saw and was about to take a sip when someone knocked her entire drink right off her table, some of the contents spilling on her. “What the actual fuck, dude?” She blurted out, trying to clean her drink off of her pants. “Can you at least try to watch where you’re going next time?” She asked before then nodding. “I feel like you kind of at least owe me that, no? I mean, it is your fault I don’t even have a drink anymore.”
“It was an accident!” he insisted again, clearing everything as best as he could. Adam didn’t even bother arguing - not that he would under most circumstances anyway, but especially not tonight. He was tired and wanted his drink and food. “Yeah, totally, it’s fine, no problem!” Adam still went ahead and ordered his own food in addition to her replacement drink, sitting back down and giving her a somewhat forced smile, hoping the tension would diffuse somewhat. Part of him thought she was familiar - then again, just about everyone was somewhat, since almost everyone grew up with each other at camp, but Adam was only there in the summers and could barely remember anyone, sometimes, so-- “I’m Adam,” he offered, kindly, hoping that would result in some sort of recognition in return.

Harrison hadn’t meant to spend all day by Nereid Lake, it had just sort of happened. He’d only meant to spend a couple hours there, a quick swim followed by some sunbathing, but the water sprites had enticed him deeper into the lake, gossiping about students and deities, laughing at all his jokes like he was a goddamn comedian. So Harrison had emerged many hours later, sunburned and lazy and starving. The Drunken Cyclops was insanely busy, but he’d found an empty seat at the bar and enjoyed an assortment of fried foods and beer, content as could be.
That is, until the contents of his drink spilled onto the table and into his lap. “Aww man,” Harrison groaned dramatically, rolling his eyes in Adam’s direction. “Treat all your customers to this wonderful service? No wonder they keep you locked up in the kitchen,” he joked, taking the napkins from Adam. “It’s all good, I’ll just return the favor when you least expect it.” Harrison grinned at his housemate, and nodded at the bartender for another round. “Another beer on him, please!” He glanced back at Adam. “How are things going for you? Minus the clumsiness, of course.”
The drink upright again, and napkins were strewn all over the bar in no time, Adam wasting no time trying to make everything right again - always one to be fixing something. But Harrison’s joking put him a bit more ease, and he allowed a light laugh of his own to escape before he sat back down on his own creaky metal stool. “Yeah, that’s why they shoved me in the back,” he chuckled in return. “There’d be broken glass all over the place, and that’s something even I can’t fix.” He pulled his own drink closer to him, not wanting a second experience of something getting knocked over before as politely as he possibly could, order a box of wings for himself. Adam had forgotten to eat throughout the shift and wasn’t convinced wings would completely do the trick. “I mean, it’s going,” he shrugged, taking a sip of his margarita. “Just getting ready for school again. I’m trying to rewire a new Playstation to take older games, it’s pretty hard, honestly, harder than I thought it would be.”

What's your favorite thing you've ever built? Are you more of a team player or a solo one?
"I built Tripod a leg and he didn't appreciate it at all. But I guess it depends on the situation - in fights, a team is always good, but stay out of my way if I'm working on something."

Living so close to the beach was a nice perk for Adam - morning runs, soccer on the sand, swimming around in the lake when it inevitably got too hot. It was a welcome step up from the crowded Echo Hall last semester, and he was relieved he got his first pick of apartments this year. There was so much more space.
The first morning where he finally had a day off from work, and he was done with packing, he took advantage of the close proximity to the water. Letting himself sleep in, paying a visit to the Hephaestus building on Temple Beach, he made his way to the water, backpack slung over his shoulders and beach chair in his arm, he settled on the sand close to a sunbathing girl, who he almost didn’t recognize. “Cori?” he asked, a bright smile crossing his features. “Hey! I didn’t know you were coming to Fates. First year?” *// @corihelens

Adam had seen the whole ordeal, the phone slipping onto the pavement and had winced at the gross sound it made, but he was over in an instant. If there’s one thing that caught his attention more than anything else, it was something breaking - something he thought he could fix.
Up close, it was worse than he thought, and he started helping pick the pieces up. “No, no, I can fix it,” Adam insisted, taking a closer look. “I think we just need to replace the screen, maybe the sensors underneath, I think I can get it a new back - if you hate the color, tell me now,” he chuckled. Sensing her annoyance, he held his hands out. “Hey, I’ll take the rest of it, I can take care of it. I don’t fix too many phones, but I’m up for the challenge.”
location : just outside the dining hall time : around 6 pm status : open @fates-starters
lenny looked down at the shattered remains of her phone before gingerly picking it up in an attempt to not cut herself on the shards of glass and muttered a curse under her breath. it was toast, that much was clear. “so,” she mused, “think i could get away with saying this was normal wear and tear?” the question was a failing attempt at a joke that fell rather flat causing them to wince slightly. but she was really regretting not getting that extra insurance when she’d bought it a few months ago. and not backing it up anytime since. “this seriously blows.”

“A dozen Midas cupcakes?” he repeated, a light smile on his face. “That’s a dangerous game you’re playing, but sure, I’ll take one off your hands.” Adam grabbed one with white frosting on it and held it carefully between his fingers, not wanting it to drop onto the ground - he’d be so disappointed.
While Adam always tried his best to eat as healthy as he could, petrified of not being in tip-top monster fighting shape, Midas was an extra treat. “I haven’t been there in months,” he mumbled as he took a bite. “Maybe I should go, once I get unpacked and stuff. I’ve been here a few days already, I just keep finding other stuff to do. I guess this is good motivation, though, right?”
location : chilling around campus time : around noon status : open @fates-starters
they looked down at what remained in the box, knowing they couldn’t ( should, more like ) have any more if they wanted to escape the afternoon without an incident. harper hadn’t meant to eat quite so many cupcakes, but just one was never enough. especially the ones from midas baked goods. “want one?” she asked holding up a take-out box of cupcakes towards the person. “i got talked into buying a dozen for some deal they were doing at midas’, and i seriously can’t eat anymore of them.” one look into the box would show that a quarter of the dozen were already gone, and harper was a bit of a cupcake snob. they couldn’t handle eating leftover, semi-stale bakery items the next day. “i can’t eat all of them myself,” they added, a small smile on their face as the lightly shook the box as though it would make them more appetizing than they already were.

It was a long day at work with all the demigods and flooding back to Fates, and The Drunken Cyclops was always a fan favorite around campus. Problem was, there weren’t too many cooks - they were always short staffed and Adam was the only one that could withstand the hot grills and plates for long period of time, so he was usually stuck with the grunt work of it all.
He was relieved when it was quitting time, when things started to die down, but decided to stay and took a seat at the wooden, rickety bar, nursing a margarita and looking up prices for wood - he wanted to build Tripod a new cat tree - and when he held his hand out to get his coworker’s to put in an order of wings, the son of Hephaestus knocked his neighbors drink right over, its contents spilling out all over the table. “Oh my gods!” he exclaimed, jumping up and immediately grabbing napkins to wipe up the mess he made. “I’m so sorry, uh, you wanna put it on my tab or something? Or I can buy you another one?” *// @fates-starters
