“Fifteen years ago, [Darcy James Argue] began making waves with his exciting 18-piece orchestra, Secret Society,” BBC Radio 3’s J to Z presenter Kevin Le Gendre says of his guest. “He’s gone from strength to strength ever since and is now one of contemporary jazz’s most notable large ensemble leaders. His music is as interesting and atmospheric as it is gutsy and powerful …” You can hear Argue talk about and share some of the music that’s influenced him and his new album, Dynamic Maximum Tension, by Miles Davis and Gil Evans, Irving Berlin, Bob Brookmeyer, and Duke Ellington, at about 50 minutes into the episode here.

So one of my friends is really into history, lore, and Stuff and told me that a dude named Dr. Irving Finkel translates stuff from sumerian and he's, like, the one who learned that the Epic of Gilgamesh was like homework for scribes-in-training with said trainee scribes being, as I like to describe, 2-18-years-old rich kids. Bestie then proceeded to yeet me the mental imagery of some young noble child scribe writing GilKidu fan fiction instead of their homework [which, mood you scenario-noble child] which leads me to THIS crack shot of an idea being born when I said to them:
"Imagine one of the best scribes in the Modern Era was a 2 year old girl and the only reason she's considered the best because she lost her homework and that's the only reason why a Significant Part of The Story of Gilgamesh still exists."
Which lead me to conclude that "I can fanfic this." So really this AU (kinda) started because of bestie and because they like Kaveh and Deshret and Kaveh as Deshret, I decided to call this one The Epic of Deshret AU (shortened name) [full name of this AU would probably be Ancient Ship Fiction Survives AU]. (Below is basically copy pasting what I told them while I was running on AU juice)
Epic of Gilgamesh AU in Genshin but replace Gil and Enkidu with King Deshret and Nabu Malikata-- but its modern au with Haikaveh/Kavetham being Scribe and Archeologist respectively and they just uncovered a new site that contains ancient text that seems to hold new information about the Epic of King Deshret-- except that's not really the main plot.
So first scene is haikaveh uncovering the text and it like freezes to black and white, focusing on the Ancient text they're holding with some background dialouge going like "so you're probably wondering how I got here" with the voiceover being Nahida. Now flashback to an ancient time where The Era of King Deshret has passed but their stories told are still (kinda) accurate-- newly inducted scribe Nahida (5 years old), daughter of the late Lady Rukkadevata, has decided that she want to write about The Definitely True and Hidden Love Story of King Deshret and His Goddess of Flower Nabu Malikata that she discovered from her Late Mother's hidden books. There starts the tale of a grand adventure starting her escape from her definitely-not-power-hungry uncle Azar who definitely did not kill Rukka to going on a journey where she meets many people, asking them about what Hidden Details they could possibly know about King Deshret and Nabu Malikata to make her Definitely Hidden True Love Story more accurate.
So like the thing is that the story Nahida finds from her mom's hidden stuff is a What-If fanfiction if Nabu Malikata lived and they went on their way to Love and Procreate. Yeah she definitely still died as lore accurate to her Epic of Gilgamesh counterpart Enkidu.
--------------------------------------------------------
So yea that's all that I got for now. If anyone does decide this also tickles their plot bunny do tag me so I can see it too.
#genshin impact#haikaveh#kavetham#Me when you mentioned scribe ages social standing and historical fanfiction: We can Crackify this--#this is crack fiction and canon is our playground#The Epic of Deshret AU#Will some ancient ship fiction made by a 5 year old bring together two modern roommates?#well that's all up to you guys tbh

I am guessing Harry is staying around the private golf course Irving opened last week. Only rich people are allowed in and I doubt he would get recognized that much in Oasis or Thermal, CA.
You're probably right. The course looks amazing.
From Hits Daily Double:
A couple of names familiar to readers of this site popped up in si.com’s roundup “Dishing Out Awards for Incredible Renovations, Restorations and New Golf Courses for 2022.” The entry for “Best New Private Course” reveals that industry titans Irving Azoff and Eddy Cue, accurately described as “passionate golfers,” have collaborated on the creation of “something different and unique, a very special, private, traditional golf club in the Coachella Valley.” That would be Ladera Golf Club, designed by architect Gil Hanse and partner Jim Wagner and located in Thermal, 40 minutes southeast of Palm Springs.
From Golf Digest: Ladera breaks the mold of desert golf in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. The design does not incorporate unnatural water features, it’s not lined by palm trees, and it’s not constrained by housing considerations. Instead, it is a beautiful and varied expression of what desert golf can be in its most natural form, though nothing about it is natural. The 300-acre site slopes 140 feet from the high point near the Santa Rosa Mountains across once-level land that was formerly lemon groves and mango farms. Hanse and Wagner propped up the low side of the property to reorient sightlines over the valley floor toward the eastern Mecca Hills and moved millions of cubic yards of earth to create each particle of golf.Ladera’s fairways are generous, 60 to 100 yards with no formal rough, but strategy abounds with options to play to wide parts of the fairway though the best approach angles and lines-of-sight are reserved for those who skirt the boundaries of the hazards. Even completely straight holes, such as the par-5 seventh, are full of options with staggered bunkers and a treacherous side slope short of the green. The greens reveal a tremendous variety of sizes and forms, some modestly contoured like the enormous saucer third and others a pattern of ridges and falling tiers (the 14th). But the most distinctive features at Ladera are the attractive dry gullies and arroyos that Hanse, Wagner and their team cut through the site emulating sandy, eroded vegetative lows that water would rush through during rare periods of heavy rain. The excavated sand was used to create sweeping elevation changes and to prop up greens like the par-3 fourth, the altar-like 15th, the par-3 16th and the par-5 17th that hangs over the edge of a deep arroyo.

*tposes* hey which of the lovestruck folks do u think would be regular tax evaders and who do u think would get caught
*tposes back* i think that not only does hydra successfully evade taxes, he does it specifically to spite hades
almost said cerberus (on account of he would probably just forget) but hades probably files them for him all things considered
alex COULD evade them if they wanted. but they have a birth certificate and a social security number and all that jazz so it's just easier if they're not avoiding.
medusa pays now but used to evade when she was in the gang
chimera DEFINITELY evades for awhile bc he doesnt know he even has to pay them LMAO he gets busted (by mc) and then is good about paying going forward
astraeus doesnt exist so he evades easily
all of the queen of thieves gang evade taxes. of course. and the starship promise guys (are there space taxes?)
the GIL crew pay their taxes because irving makes them. but prior to irving aurora and yoyo have definitely been caught trying to do it

Reactions As I Read:
“death” in the title AGAIN jfc
oo we’re jumping right into the middle of the action
when adult women are portrayed saying “daddy,” it icks me out.
I’m curious how Matt will explain this one away:
👏👏👏👏
Synopsis: DD takes down Stone, an employee of Maxwell Glenn, who has just taken a sniper shot at D.A. Foggy Nelson; When Matt and Heather confront her father, he claims to know nothing about Stone's activities; DD finds that Bullseye is back in town and the two battle; Bullseye knocks Daredevil out with a cardboard "paper" airplane and ties him to a giant arrow which he plans to shoot out of a giant crossbow right into side of the cliffs of New Jersey.
