*squeals* I never realized this footage and audio existed! Although I guess I wouldn't have looked for it specifically since "My Misery" isn't one of my favorite Phantom Blue songs, and I kind of have to be in the right mood to listen to it. (Apparently now is the right time.)
Two things I noticed (one important, one not): Gigi's vocals are SO BEAUTIFUL on this, and - I know that other people (especially musicians for some reason) say this shit all the time but I'm also going to say it now - SHE SOUNDS JUST LIKE SHE DOES ON THE RECORD?! I MEAN, WOW. Absolutely incredible. The other thing I noticed that apparently I hadn't noticed before is that Gigi has a nose ring? Actually, all of the jewelry that she's wearing here looks amazing.
Of course, I must also mention: Michelle. 💗 Beautiful guitar playing. Especially when (as a Phantom Blue fan, at least) I've never seen or heard her play acoustically. Beauuuuutifuuuuuuuul.

The band was formed by Michelle Meldrum and Nicole Couch in Los Angeles back in 1987 and got a record deal three months later with Shrapnel Records. Michelle Meldrum had played with drummer Linda McDonald in previous projects and together with vocalist Gigi Hangach and original bassist, Debra Armstrong plans were made to record the debut album. But before the recording started Debra left and was replaced by Kim Nielsen-Parson.
After the release in 1989 Phantom Blue went on a European tour and gained quite a lot of success and a major label deal was in reach. In 1993 the sophomore album Built to Perform was released through Geffen and the band had a more raw heavy sound in contrast to the first album’s glam sound.
Another successful European tour was done but the band fell apart and was dropped by Geffen and in 1996 Linda was the only original member in the band. Linda continued with Phantom Blue and had a lot of different member until finally calling it quits in 2000.
In 1995 was Prime Cuts & Glazed Donuts released which is a collection of previously
recorded demos and the album was self released by the manager of Phantom Blue. In 1998 also an EP was released called Full Blown on which Linda was the only remaining original member after Gigi decided to leave also the band after the release of the live album Caught Live in 1997.
Guitarist Michelle Meldrum went on to form an international band called Meldrum and gained quite some attention with this band before she died in 2008 as a result of a cerebral hemorrhage.
On May 26, 2009, Linda McDonald, Gigi Hangach and Kim Nielsen-Parsons reunited as Phantom Blue for the Michelle Meldrum Memorial Concert at the Whisky a Go Go in Hollywood, CA. Meldrum’s position was filled by Tina Wood (from the 1997 lineup), while Sara Marsh and Courtney Cox of The Iron Maidens filled in for Nicole Couch

Apparently it took me at least two years (via Wikipedia) to realize that Phantom Blue put out an EP in 1998 called Full Blown. I should have known about it, but it doesn't really sound familiar? I did know that PB (with a TOTALLY overhauled lineup, except for Linda McDonald) recorded music well after most of the classic lineup left after Built to Perform, but I thought it was only a live album (which apparently also still included Gigi Hangach, but not for long after that, lol).
But I'm looking at the song titles on Full Blown and I'm like..."I'm So Happy"? "Cookie"? I'm sorry, is this Phantom Blue or Shonen Knife (affectionate)? Two completely different bands, in other words, except that they happen to be rock-oriented bands of all women. STILL, PB, WHAT. (Also, @ Linda McDonald: WHAT is this, girl. I'm sorry, but, WHAT?) I am afraid to hear it. And Wikipedia labels the EP as heavy metal still, but I am still...afraid...
At least I shouldn't be afraid to hear the live album, because I don't think I've heard that yet, either, or if I have, then I've forgotten. (Watch, I won't even be able to find it on Youtube, let alone any other streaming platform, for obvious reasons which are actually not so obvious at all.)
