I couldn’t help but notice the similarity in the way Gunny Haney and Snafu handled the replacements’ safety, in a kind of no nonsense aggressive way. And it got me thinking about Snafu as a replacement under Gunny Haney, about all the stuff that wasn’t in the show and especially Gloucester, because Snafu calls him Pops in the last gif and it’s one of the rare moments Snafu shows fondness. I also love the way things come full circle, because Gunny Haney must have trained Snafu, who in turn handled Sledge, who in turn helped the Replacements in Okinawa, meaning that Gunny Haney’s influence must have saved countless people indirectly.
