There needs to be more fluff fics of post crash Curly, so here's my first addition of likely many ♡

Where reader is a member of the Tulpar crew, spending time with Curly after the crash.

You were spending time with Curly in medbay to keep him company. It was emotionally hard for Anya to see the captain in this state, so you offered to help ease her workload. And you didn't mind at all, you just wanted everyone to feel better after the traumatic incident. 

At first, you felt sad. You just want to take his pain away. You're afraid to hurt him by touching him, but you so badly want to just run your fingers gently against his cheek and tell him it'll all be okay. But you couldn't just feel sad; the captain was hurting, and you had to be there for him. As much as he tried to be there for the crew.

You'd ask him if he'd like you to read him a book, or listen to a certain kind of song on the radio, or even if he'd like to be alone for a while. He'd give the tiniest nod for yes and subtly side to side for no.

It was nice, spending time with the captain this way. His presence became comforting, like a wholesome, protecting force, even though your once powerful leader was now powerless. You could still feel his personality and heart emanating out of him, catching it in his familiar gaze. His protective nature washes over you in calm waves, just like it did before the incident. Yes, it was still nice being with the captain like this, even though things were different now. 

Soon you're scooting an extra medbay bed to lay with him at night

“I hope you don't mind.. I get scared sometimes in the lounge...” 

The fact that there's still some way he can help his crew members, even if it's just spending the night with you, is the only thing to put his nerves somewhat at ease. Just his presence being enough to make you feel safe- that means a lot to him.

He looks up and down, saying yes, letting out a small, satisfied noise. The sound of his rhythmic breathing lulls you to sleep, feeling secure knowing your captain is still there, still watching over you.. ♡

Henry’s beside him, holding his hand, and he’s holding Henry’s hand back, so at least that’s something.
