what/who are the opps and why are they called that?

'the opps' is the lighthearted term this fandom uses to refer to the ccs who've acted shitty/shady towards the dteam, as far as i know the term was first coined when everest was released (from the lyric 'fuck the opps like its enemies with benefits') then became more common after georges stream that shall not be named in march when dreams text message was shown that said 'the opps are there'.

ppl who are considered the opps include that entire group of british ccs brighton bastards (aim.sey, tom.my, ja.ck, average ha.rry etc) and some other ppl like q and connor (who i regularly forget exists before im reminded of dreams private tweets, then i laugh hysterically. just goes to show that the majority of these ppl are irrelevant until they start stirring up drama bc apparently its all theyre known for.)

tbh the thing is ive given up on twitter and mainly use tumblr so it elements a lot of things especially rsd and stuff. and if i dont like someone i block and pretend they don't exist 😭

oh yeah march was the final straw for twitter for me 😭 i kinda tried to come back a few weeks ago and unfollowed like 2k ppl bc a lot of them were fans turned antis but then i started experiencing the same stress i hadnt felt since leaving twitter when trying to interact with phannies and constantly being met with ppl who hate dream stans. that shit just wasnt worth it so im mainly staying on here bc in my 3 ish months of being on phan tumblr i found only 1 person that said dream stans dni. and in just 2 weeks of searching phan twitter i found countless ☠️ just sticking to a few retweets here and there on twitter bc thats about as much as i can handle lol.

i agree!! more folks around and more diversity is actually nice. I know there's twt art I just don't see because I'm not on there! plus they're great at getting clips. so I think it will be a good change :]

in terms of culture, tumblr's setup is different enough that I think they'll probably adapt better than folks give credit for. when they realize there's no algorithm people will be more of themselves and less hivemind (for better and worse).

plus when you're not right under the CC's noses you can have a bit more fun without making them uncomfortable! so folks can ship whatever they want, how they want

real!! when i first came here in (shudders) november 2023 i kinda got fomo about not seeing some ppls fanart as a lot of users were twitter-only, so its nice to know we might get to see more. i was honestly worried about not adapting but it didnt take me long to at all, and things being less like a hivemind here was a nice surprise. i hadnt realised how stressful twitter was with the constant callout posts and harassing artists/writers when we already had to deal with the horrors of antis in mass. i feel like here ppl tend to be better at accepting we're not gonna agree over everything just bc we're all dream fans and its not the end of the world. we can just kinda coexist in our little world here its nice 😭

true tumblr is like the wild west sometimes literally anything can happen here 😭 but im so glad i moved to here completely bc the overall vibe is so much more relaxed and theres none of that stupid witch hunting or callout posts that seemed to be like. several times a week on twitter (but here ive maybe seen it one or two times total in the ENTIRE six months which is impressive)

i wish they would dnf more i miss it bc it was so fun to freak out over stuff like the kissing, cute date and bedgate snaps, though i kind of get why its slowed down a bit since the truth came out and george's inactivity. and if they dont much, i can at least count on the dnfers here to keep it alive. it will never be dnfover

How do you know? He said he doesn't want to post anything because it will give away too much as if that isn't the point of fucking teasers, so he in fact did favour one group for no reason and once again lied in his tweet, because he didn't specify only a handful of people will get to see the teasers. I also didn't see dream explain why he sent it to them, he just deleted the tweets like a baby, and I'm not gonna believe the parasocial admins who are just trying to save their asses.

to be fair he himself said they were teasers, and an admin confirmed nothing too big was shared with them. i really don’t see any lies in his tweets at all 😭 he said idk what to tease without giving too much away so maybe he’s just not happy with the current teasers he came up with. and him using the word ‘gatekeep’ is probably what upset ppl bc that sounds like hes only letting them see it because they’re being favoured. but i believe he only sent it to them so that they can eventually post it publicly through dream updates. if the updates account hasn’t seen the teasers beforehand they won’t be able to post them. why would he share teasers with just those stans and then never make them public? it makes zero sense if he wants his videos to get reach/build hype around them. again he probably deleted the tweets bc ppl were mad at him as they assumed he was sharing them with the admins because he prefers them over other fans. but i think it’s not fair to assume he prefers them just because he sent them teasers. that BY ITSELF by no means shows he likes them more than other fans.

an admin cleared up some misinfo through this reddit post. would be helpful to read the comments under it too. the post mentions how if admins say/do bad or weird stuff they’ll be kicked. BUT in the future i do think it’d be better if dreams official team ran updates accs instead of stans to prevent them developing a superiority complex or smth, or feeling more parasocial/‘special’ than other stans. idk tho, these admins (at the moment at least) and dreams tweets seem ok to me and they handled this fine but believe what u want bc im only trying to see the best in ppl here and not immediately jump to the conclusion that every action is malicious 😭 nuance is the word of the month especially after The Incident. well… the many incidents. we can’t seem to catch a break. 💀

tbh i just dont interact with anyone thats like this person dni because its dumb so i just skirt around it and find different people or like if i like dnp and they all say dteam stans dni i would go look for dnp fans that are also dteam stans. so then it counterbalances basically so idk theres no way really around it you just got to find people who arent chronically online

i managed to find maybe two dream stans on twitter who also liked dnp but idk lately i mainly stick to tumblr for phan stuff bc twitter in general stresses me out for either fandom bc the overall vibe there is so much more uptight and strict. still i get nervous to actually properly interact with phannies on tumblr more than just rbing their stuff and adding tags to it bc i might just lose it if we properly talk in dms and somehow find out theyre a dranti or smth bc i dont wanna be forced to hide im a dream stan if im gonna potentially make friends with them 💀

real, the elongated muskrat has made some... interesting decisions regarding it and made it about a thousand times worse than it already was. it feels like endless bots, ads and shitty ragebait and drama. kind of impressive really as i didnt think that was possible before...

plus the whole climate of the app got a lot worse too bc now those kinds of posts seem to get more attention and rewarded by the shitty algorithm. (not to mention more right wing/bigoted content bc of the harassment rules changing and elon's personal beliefs, but thats a whole other disaster lmao.)
