What does it Mean to be Self Aware?
Healthy self-awareness means:
1. Being aware of our changing emotions, and knowing who and what tends to trigger them. Then, using that knowledge to choose how you respond.
2. Being aware of our negative, destructive thoughts patterns, and challenging our tendencies to jump to wrong conclusions … or to over-exaggerate how terrible things are.
3. Being aware of what is happening, and changing, in our bodies so we know when we are stressed, or are reaching breaking point.
4. Understanding our habits and behavioural patterns so we’re not at their mercy, and they don’t control our lives.
5. Being aware of our assumptions and expectations, and knowing how they influence various aspects of our lives – like the goals we set, and the things we say and do.
6. Being aware of how our actions, our words and responses affect and influence other people in our lives (in both a positive and negative way).

Tips for Improving your Social Skills
1. Work on remembering peoples’ names.
2. Make an effort to stay in touch with people – even if it’s only liking an occasional photo on facebook.
3. Develop and improve your listening skills. This includes not interrupting when others are speaking, not trying to control the conversation, and showing a respectful, genuine interest in the speaker.
4. Hold the door for others, and let others out first (in elevators, on trains and buses etc.)
5. When you’re writing an email, keep it brief and to the point. Nobody wants to read a long, boring essay.
6. Keep your voice down when you’re talking on your phone. No-one wants to hear your private conversations (and especially when you’re travelling on public transport).
7. Show a genuine interest in the passions of others. Ask lots of open questions, and find out what you can about their hobbies and interests.
8. When someone joins a conversation you’re involved it, include them right away, and try to bring them up to speed.
9. Don’t be a whiner or find fault with everything. Instead, being affirming, optimistic, and try and find the positives.
10. Be tolerant and patient with other people. Do what you can to accept them as they are.
11. Don’t go on and on – so other people fall asleep, begin to feel annoyed or want to run and hide.
12. Don’t argue back aggressively, or try to pick a fight, if you disagree with someone (even when you’re right).

JEHOVAH SHAMMAH
2nd November, 2022
READ: Genesis 28:10-22
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, THE LORD IS THERE (JEHOVAH SHAMMAH).
Ezekiel 48:35
Jehovah Shammah is the God whose presence can be felt. Jehovah Shammah means, “The Lord is there!” “The Lord is present!” It is possible to grow in the faith and experience the presence of God in a real way.
There are many ways in which you can know God. You can get to know God as your healer (Jehovah Rophe). You can also get to know God as your financier, your provider (Jehovah Jireh) or even your shepherd (Jehovah Ra-ah). Indeed, you can also get to know God as someone whose presence can be felt (Jehovah Shammah).
There are ministers who know God as Jehovah Jireh. They are sure that He is a provider and they are able to relate with God as someone who gives them money and provisions. Some pastors do not know how to relate with God as Jehovah Jireh. They know Him as a conservative and moral God. But they do not know the aspect of God that has to do with provision. There are other ministers who know God as a healer but do not know Him as a financial provider. Indeed, we all know different aspects of God to different extents.
You can know God in yet another way. You can know Jehovah Shammah, the Lord who is present in a real way. You can know the aura of God’s presence. Few people enjoy His presence as they should! God is real! It is possible to grow in your ability to experience God. You can experience His presence in your room! You can experience His presence in your meetings! You can experience His presence at home. That is Jehovah Shammah!

MOVE FASTER!
3rd November, 2022
READ: Genesis 27:1-20
And Isaac said unto his son, HOW IS IT THAT THOU HAST FOUND IT SO QUICKLY, my son? And he said, Because the Lord thy God brought it to me.
Genesis 27: 20
Isaac asked for some food and it was Esau’s duty to provide this food.
And it came to pass, that when Isaac was old, and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, he called Esau his eldest son, and said unto him, My son: and he said unto him, Behold, here am I.
And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death: Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die.
Genesis 27:1-4
However, it was his brother Jacob who was quick to provide the food. The speed at providing the food is what got Jacob his blessing. The speed was made possible by the help of his mother. Speed is often a reflection of how much help you have. Speed is what gave Jacob the blessing. The blessings we see on the nation Israel today are because of the speed of Jacob.
Years later, his son Joseph acted with speed to bring his father and brothers out of famine to a place of plenty: “Hurry back to my father. Tell him, ‘Your son Joseph says: I’m master of all of Egypt. Come as fast as you can and join me here….I’ll make sure all your needs are taken care of…’ (Genesis 45:9,11 – The Message).
Speed determines if you will be blessed. Perhaps your whole life will change if you can introduce some speed into what you do. Perhaps, some blessings will come to you if you would be faster at what you do. Be faster at taking decisions! Be faster at obeying God! Be faster at learning your songs! Be faster at waiting on God!

GOD HONOURS
4th November, 2022
READ: 1 Kings 3:5-14
Verily I say unto you, wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
Mark 14:9
There is the honour that only God can give. Jesus promised this lady that she would be remembered forever. It has happened practically. Today, I am writing about her and reminding everybody of the honour she showed Jesus Christ. This woman is better known than most of the disciples. Most people are forgotten soon after they die. Only a few people are remembered after they die. Indeed, the memory of most people is erased forever within a few years of their death.
As you serve God, you must seek the honour that comes from above. How long will your church or your ministry last? How long will the effect of your ministry remain upon the earth? Is what you are doing a temporary thing? God wants you to bear fruit that will last. Pray that God will touch your fruit so that it will last forever. Without those words spoken by Jesus, this woman would soon have been forgotten.
Think about Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Each of them wrote a short pamphlet about Jesus Christ. They have been honoured because they wrote about Jesus Christ. They are the four top bestselling authors in the world today. Today, the pamphlets they wrote to honour Jesus have spread all over the world. They are the most printed and reprinted books in the whole world.
Who would have thought that the works of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John would survive hundreds of years of history? It is only when God touches your work that your memory remains forever. Pray for the honour that comes from above and you will be honoured forever. No man can honour you in this eternal way.

VARIED BLESSINGS
7th October, 2022
READ: Genesis 49:1-2, 22-26
The BLESSINGS OF THY FATHER HAVE PREVAILED above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Genesis 49:26
Joseph began to feel the presence of the curse quite early in life. He experienced hatred, rejection, slavery, poverty and imprisonment. These are definitely curses of frustration. Yet, Joseph overcame and annulled these terrible curses.
You can stop a curse in your life through the variety of blessings you receive. If your father gives you a variety of gifts, you would have been helped more than someone who received one little gift from his father. The many gifts you receive will help you prevail in life.
Joseph was fortunate because he received many unusual and unrelated blessings. The extraordinary blessings of the womb, the unusual blessings of the breast, the rich blessings of the deep and the amazing blessings of the heavens above. This cocktail of blessings lifted Joseph from the curse of prison and slavery. Through the many blessings that his father spoke over his life, Joseph became the famous prime minister we read about.
Hatred is a very painful thing to sense, and is a difficult thing to rise above. Rejection is an equally painful experience. Joseph was hurt, grieved and sorely wounded by his brethren (Genesis 49:23). He overcame and became the greatest person in Egypt, second only to Pharaoh. Joseph had indeed received a very strong blessing from his father. The blessings of his father had prevailed in his life.
Today, God has a solution for the hatred, the rejection and the many attacks and hurts of your life. The blessings of your father will prevail in your life. You are finally coming into the place of prosperity because of the blessings of your father. May your father find you worthy to bless you with such abundant blessings.

SIGNS OF DISHONOUR
1st September, 2022
READ: 1 Samuel 15:20-35
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53:3
The presence of someone at your event is evidence that you have been honoured. Your presence at certain functions is a sign of your respect for the person. Your presence at someone’s wedding is a sign that you respect him or her. Your absence can be a sign of dishonour.
When Saul realised he had lost his position, he begged Samuel to be present at the church service. Samuel’s presence would be a sign of respect for Saul.
Then he said, I have sinned: yet honour me now, I pray thee, before the elders of my people, and before Israel, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD thy God.
1 Samuel 15:30
Your failure to call on someone can be a sign of dishonour. Your visit to someone’s house is a sign of your respect for him. The failure of the wise men to pass by the king Herod’s court was a sign that they dishonoured him. The wise men simply did not show up at the palace of Herod. Their absence was a loud rebuke of disrespect towards the king. Herod himself realised that he had been despised.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
Matthew 2:16
Your absence at important functions or your failure to call on someone may be a sign of dishonour.

ADAPTED
31st August, 2022
READ: Genesis 41:7-14
Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh
Genesis 41:14
When you work for someone you respect and honour, you will adjust yourself to be able to work with him. When Joseph was called upon by Pharaoh, he decided to improve his presentation and make himself look good. He shaved because not everyone likes bearded faces. He decided to change his old prison clothes so that his appearance would be pleasing to the king. Perhaps Joseph was used to certain types of clothes and a certain way of keeping his hair. His adjustment was a sign of the honour that he had for Pharaoh.
When you work for someone, it is important that you adjust yourself to the person. If you realise that the person you work for has certain preferences, your respect for the job and for the person will cause you to adapt.
If the person you work for does not use Facebook or WhatsApp as a way of communicating, you will adapt yourself and find the appropriate technology that will enable you to communicate with him. All that is a sign of your adaptation and your respect. If your mother or your father is unable to use WhatsApp, you cannot say that you cannot communicate with them any more. You, the child, have to adapt yourself to whatever technology the grown-up is comfortable with.
Pride will not allow you to adapt and adjust yourself to the person you must honour. When a person refuses to communicate because he called a number of times but got no answer, it is usually pride at work. The person that you honour will never be too difficult to make contact with.

PILLAR OF FIRE
6th August, 2022
READ: Exodus 33:7-23
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:
Exodus 13:2
Follow the presence of God and you will go deeper. As you follow the presence of God, you will come to His perfect will for your life. When Abraham, Jacob, Moses and the disciples experienced the presence of God, they became famous ministers whose names can never be forgotten on this earth. Just a little contact with God’s presence will change your life forever. Notice how all these people went deeper when they experienced the presence of God. They no longer remained ordinary Christians but dived deep into the ministry and the service of the Lord.
a. Abraham experienced the presence of God when he was called (Genesis 17:1-4).
b. Jacob experienced the presence of God when he was called (Genesis 32:24-28).
c. Moses experienced the presence of God when he was called (Exodus 3:1-2).
d. Ezekiel experienced the presence of God when he was called (Ezekiel 1:1-4).
e. Jesus’ ministry began with the presence of God (Luke 3:22-23).
f. The disciples began their ministry when the presence of God came upon them (Acts 2:1-4).
Follow the presence of God! Move as the presence of God moves! Go where the presence of God is. The presence of God makes all the difference! If God’s presence is not in a huge cathedral do not waste your time going there. If God’s presence is found in a classroom you must go there. When you follow the pillar of fire, you will have light, revelation, illumination and direction for every stage of your life.

NO ANSWERS?
8th August, 2022
READ: Isaiah 59:1-15
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for HE SHALL SAVE HIS PEOPLE FROM THEIR SINS.
Matthew 1:21
I met a businessman who was in the business of manufacturing insecticides to kill wall geckos. One day, a lady came to his factory to buy some of the insecticides. She was the cleaner and keeper at a shrine for one of the gods in the country. She suspected that a wall gecko had gone into the ears of the gods, making them not hear and answer the prayers that were offered to them. The lady needed medicine to kill these wall geckos. Our God is not a stone! Our God is not a tree! Our God is not a river! Our God is alive! Our God can hear! His ears are not blocked by wall geckos!
Why are our prayers not answered sometimes? Our prayers are not answered because our iniquities have separated God from us. Our sins have hidden His Face from us! Our God is affected by our sins. The sins of our hands, and the sins of our mouths separate us from God.
Our sins are our greatest problems. Every time you sin, you draw evil spirits into your life. When Miriam criticised Moses, she developed leprosy (Numbers 12:1-10). Every time you sin, you draw death towards yourself. When Adam and Eve sinned, they drew death to themselves (Genesis 2:17).
What did Jesus come to earth for? Jesus came to save us from our sins. Thank God for the Good News – the Gospel. Turn away from your sins and you will discover that God’s hand is not shortened. Your prayers will be answered when you turn away from your sins. Come to Jesus now. Don’t wait till it is too late!

ACCEPT & ADMIRE
10th August, 2022
READ: Luke 7:36-50
And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with ointment.
Luke 7:38
This woman whose sins were many, accepted that Jesus Christ was the Messiah. She believed that Jesus Christ was the great prophet. She believed that He was holy. She believed that He could forgive sins. She accepted Him. That is why she could honour Him! “Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little” (Luke 7:47).
Mary and Martha accepted and admired Jesus Christ. “…and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and
heard his word” (Luke 10:38-39).
Without accepting the man of God, you cannot do much. You cannot receive from him and you will never feel like honouring him. You have to accept the person whom God has sent. Do you accept the people that God has brought into your life? Do you accept that they are great and wonderful prophets and pastors to you? Admiration is the key to honouring with ease! Honour with acceptance and admiration.
Without admiration your mouth will not be open and your heart will not be turned towards your master. Mary saw Jesus as the greatest and the best. That is why she lay down at His feet and wept before Him. It was admiration that made her use her hair to wipe His feet. Her heart was completely open towards Jesus Christ.
Admiration is what causes honour to be easy for you to give.

FINISHED!
12th August, 2022
READ: Nehemiah 6:1-16
I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
John 17:4
Improve your speed of finishing. In order to increase your speed of finishing, follow the example of Jesus Christ! Jesus was urgent about finishing His work. He would cut out meals and anything that would keep Him from finishing His work.
In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and TO FINISH HIS WORK.
John 4:31-34
You must cut out certain things from your life if you are to finish your work. The reason why people do not finish their work is because they do many things that are not their job. There are things that only you can do. Get to the job and concentrate on it!
Never stop until you finish. Unfinished things cannot be used. A car that has only three wheels cannot be used. If you do many great things but do not finish your work, you are still a failure. Why create a beautiful car with only three tyres? Stop saying, “I just need to get one more tyre.” We cannot use your nice car that has only three tyres.
No one is saying that you have not worked hard. Unfinished work is simply unusable. This is why Jesus was so intent on finishing His work. If He had preached and healed the sick but had not gone to the cross, the world would still not be saved.

THREE TEMPTATIONS
13th August, 2022
READ: Luke 4:1-15
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:15
After you are born again, you may encounter the three types of temptations: the temptations of a baby, which are fleshly temptations, the temptations of a child, which are loyalty and disloyalty temptations, and the temptations of the mature which are temptations of obedience.
Obviously, the temptations of a child are different from the temptations of a grown up. A child may be tempted to steal some sweets whereas a grow-up may be tempted to commit adultery. In the same way, the temptations of a spiritual baby are different from the temptations of a spiritual child or mature Christian.
Jesus Christ was tempted in all points just as we are. He experienced temptations of babyhood, temptations of childhood and temptations of maturity. The first temptation of Jesus was typical of the temptation of a spiritual baby. Jesus was hungry. His flesh needed food. Babyhood temptations always involve the flesh.
The second temptation of Jesus was typical of a spiritual “child”. His loyalties, His convictions and His stability were tested. Satan actually suggested that Jesus change allegiance and worship him instead of worshipping God. Can you be tempted to leave God? Can you be tempted to leave your church? Can you be tempted to leave your pastor?
The third temptation of Jesus was typical of the temptation of a mature person. The temptation of the mature has to do with your obedience to God. Jesus was taken to the temple and asked to throw Himself down. Throwing Himself down was intended to provoke God and manipulate the hand of God. But Jesus knew that He must only obey God. When you are a mature Christian your obedience to God is tested even in the smallest matters.

YOUR FIGHT, YOUR FAITH
10th July, 2022
READ: 1 Timothy 6:6-14
Fight the good FIGHT OF FAITH, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
1 Timothy 6:12
Your fight shows your faith! There is a fight of faith waiting for all of us. When you stop fighting, it means you have stopped having faith. Having faith is fighting for what you believe.
What has God told you that He is going to do? Keep fighting for the will of God to come to pass in your life. What you fight for shows what you believe in. If you fight for a political party to come into power, it shows your great faith in human beings and politics. If you fight for people to know about Jesus, it shows your great faith in Jesus Christ. If you fight for the church to be built, it shows your great faith in Jesus’ command to us to build His church.
It is time to show God that you believe in Him. You can do this by fighting for the righteous causes in the Word of God.
I am engaged in a war so that I can build God’s house. I believe in church planting and church growth. All my fights and battles have to do with my local church, the other churches, the buildings and the offices of the house of God. My fight reveals my faith.
What do you fight for? Are you fighting to make more money? Are you fighting to build a company or a firm? All that you fight for reveals your faith. When you fight for all these secular causes, it shows that your faith is more in human endeavour than in God’s eternal plan. It is time to show your faith in God by fighting for God’s kingdom. Become a man of faith!
