Ghost sweeper Mikami movie
This movie was so fun (even if i have once again watched a follow up before the actual anime). The begining is very eager to get right into the plot but as soon as the plot gets started it gets sidetracked (in a good way). this movie had both exelent comedy and breath taking fight sceenes (every thing i want) i will definetly be watching the full series.
To be fair I only watched it bc vampire so that’s why I didn’t know it had a series…
Highly recomended 8/10

Ghost Sweeper Mikami
GS美神 極楽大作戦!!
(Anime + manga)
Action / Comedy by Takashi Shiina
Era: 90s
Rating: B
Plot: In bubble era Japan overdevelopment displaced many ghosts and yokai, leading to the creation of Ghost Sweepers, exorcists who solve the problems caused by them. Reiko Mikami, a redhead in a cocktail dress is the one of the best and charges her clients more than accordingly, helped by his chronically underpaid assistant, high school student Tadao Yokoshima, soon joined by the ghost of Okinu, a teenage girl sacrificed to appease a vulcano 300 years ago who became the guardian of the mountain.
Length: 45 episodes, 398 chapters, 1 movie
Thoughts: Well, here's a show with as amusing cast of secondary characters, like Meiko, one of Mikami's closest friends (or so she believes) who controls 12 shikigami hiding on her shadow, although "controls" might be a bit too generous considering they run rampant the moment she starts crying and is a bit of a crybaby, or Dr. Chaos, an immortal alchemist who was incredibly powerful in the middle ages (as we get to see in the manga), but who has lived so long anything new he learns makes him forget something else, like how did he made Maria, his robot assistant. Turns out forgetting the useful stuff isn't great for his finances, and he lives in constant fear of his landlady. And speaking of finances, there's also some fun world building, like the premise of the show (ghosts and yokai being left homeless due to overdevelopment) and how out of whack the economy is - Mikami can (and will) ask for hundreds of millions for a job, but then we also learn some of the charms and talismans used in these exorcisms cost up to tens of millions as well, and being forced to use more expensive charms eating into her profits is a constant source of amusement particularly when the decision falls on Yokoshima or Okinu. Meanwhile, Yokoshima is still only getting paid 250 yen per hour. He later gets a 5 yen raise, so that's fine.
The main characters work pretty well together, from Mikami's power and intelligence (as well as a everything goes style) allows her to solve any issues easily, Yokoshima's dedication to a job that puts him at constant risk for little pay in name of his pervert behaviour he doesn't seem to get over even when he often gets immediate comeuppance, and Okinu's attempts to get everyone getting along. However, as far as development goes, the anime covers maybe a fifth of the story, missing when they begin in earnest around one third in - uncovering the origin of Reiko's powers, Yokoshima becoming a GS himself (only hinted in the anime by Shoryuki during the training arc) and Okinu becoming the senpai for the friendlier ghosts in the area, later a spiritualist (and other things) herself, and the plot heavy part of the story that begins halfway, and so are some other great additions to the cast of characters - Saijou, Michie Mikami, Ashtaroth, Lucíola, Tanamo and Shiro are obviously all absent. The manga by the end mostly drops the individual cases in favour of typical shounen adventure long arc, but it also feels there was a bit more to the story left to tell anyway, even after almost 400 chapters. The movie is an original story (Mikami is chosen through time to prevent the resurrection of Oda Nobunaga / Nosferatu) and your typical three episode long arc with some improved animation.
All in all, a pretty fun watch from the 90s.
Recommended to: fans of folk tales and ghost stories on the lighter side
Plus:
The timing and expressions kill me
Charming cast of characters
While very episodic in nature, it throws around enough variety to not feel too repetitive...
Minus:
... but it's still pretty episodic.
In the manga as it does longer and more ambitious story arcs, it loses maybe a bit from doing your regular save the world stuff versus the more curious one-off stories.
Due to covering maybe the initial fifth of the manga, character progression isn't all there in the anime. Makes you interested, so, mission accomplished?

People you'd like to get to know better
Thank you @memoonlemon for the tag!! Been wanting to do one of these!! ♥
Three ships: AtaLum (Urusei Yatsura), ShinRan (Detective Conan) and the last one is hard to choose since there's so many but let's just say Rankane (Ranma 1/2).
First ship: I think my first ship was from Pokemon, being Amourshipping. I was obsessed with it a long time ago. I'm not sure if I still ship it but it's probably because I've lost interest in the Pokemon anime... 😅
Last song: Ah, I was listening to the entire 'MAISONdes: Complete Collection' on Spotify last night and I think I stopped at the song, 'Dance, Dance, Dada' (Banger of a song, BTW):
Favorite color: Any shades of red or pink!! I like blues, greens, yellow and oranges as well!!
Currently watching: Nothing, lol. But I'm planning to start watching 'The Apothecary Diaries' which drops today and I need to catch up with 'Spy X Family' and start 'After school Hanako-kun'.
Last Movie: I don't really watch that many movies so I can't remember the last one I've watched, um, does the first episode of 'Oshi no Ko' count (it's technically movie length)?
Currently reading: I've started 'Ghost Sweeper Mikami' last night. I've read 5 chapters and so far it's really funny, also I loveeee Shiina's artstyle, it's super cute!!
Sweet/savory/spicy: All of them actually! But I don't like foods that are way too spicy or way too sweet!!
Currently consuming: Peppermint ice tea!! :D We have a box filled with various flavored tea bags (Raspberry, Lemon, Peach, Mint, Thyme, etc.) and since summer I've been making ice tea with them and even now. I like the peppermint, peach, vanilla and strawberry flavors the most!!
Currently craving: I want to eat Lasagna so badly, it's been so long!!
Relationship status: Single.
Last web search: 'Lum Urusei Yatsura', since I wanted to search the ラム tag but I don't have a Japanese keyboard (and I'm too lazy to change the settings) so I just looked it up.
Currently working on: Some art ideas, cleaning up my phone's storage space because it's been warning me for over a week now and I need to finish an analysis in my drafts. Hopefully, I can finish them all...
Tagging: @chayasuu , @danaty-consolation , @livmadart , @misteria247 or anyone who wants to do this as well!! 🌟

Got tagged by @tweedscorner @julie-su for 2 separate ask games and figured might as well put it in one post!
game 1
Three Ships: Surge x AU!Elias, Jewel x AU!TiaraB, Surge x Jewel
First Ship: Probably Usagi & Mamoru (Sailor Moon) or Daiken (Digimon 02)
Last Song: Naraku no Hana (Higurashi season 2 OP)
Last Movie: I think the last full movie I watched was the Barbie movie actually (I usually watch tv length episodes)
Currently Reading: IDW Sonic, Archie Sonic and Skip & Loafer (also insert long list of manga here)
Currently Watching: Hirogaru Sky Precure, Shy & I'm in love with the Villainess (all anime)
Currently Consuming: 2nd cup of coffee
Currently Craving: a pumpkin spice donut from across the street and Chinese food for lunch
game 2
Last song: "Ghost Sweeper" from Ghost Sweeper Mikami
Favourite color: Any pastels, but mostly pastel blue, green or pink
Currently Watching: unhealthily watching Thistle's poll numbers fluctuate if I'm being terribly honest.
Last movie: actually wait do long youtube documentaries count? I watched a 2 hour video retrospective for the Shadow the Hedgehog game because I wanted to see Maria slap enemies when you're in 2 player mode. That's gotta count for something.
Last reading: The "Badniks & Chao Races" arc for IDW Sonic iirc
Last thing googled: ...the information for "Higurashi season 2" because I couldn't remember the opening song name.
Current obsessions: Still IDW Sonic and all that comes with it. Also tenrecs now I guess.
I don't really like tagging people, but if any of these sound fun feel free to do them!

After thinking about the “single character” thing I’ve been wanting to do, I realize that Vinzent may not be the best choice. Though he’s fun and interesting to some of you, to me he’s a bit reserved (and he’s also found love, so, romantic and sexual ships are off the table in case you want to go there).
However, I’m still fond to the concept of the “Magic Cops”. Which is why I want to try playing another cop. But I also want to keep emphasizing all those elements and traits that are not normally associated with “masculinity” within the tumblr RP experience.
So, I was thinking on a solution until I remembered this:
youtube
To those of you who don’t know: this is Nube (well, the title is Hell Teacher Nube). The story is pretty simple: Nube is a skilled exorcist who, at one point, trapped a demon in his left hand. He returns to his town to teach the elementary kids of a rural town, but the kids are often times targeted by evil spirits that Nube has to vanish, either by using the Demon Hand or by using other magical objects. In a way, this is a shounen and less erotic version of Ghost Sweeper Mikami.
I am very fond of Mikami (she’s everything I am right now: a high heeled bitch interested only in milking money from the rich men who need her services). And also, Mikami follows along the same trope that Bayonetta (another favorite of mine) follows. So I’m very interested on using the same concept behind Nube.
So, this character would be an ex-magic cop who quit the force to pursue his real passion: teaching. So he joins an elementary school in his hometown, only to find out that the school folks are constantly surrounded in magical affairs that he needs to fix using his magical skills learned as a Magic Cop.
As for FCs, I’m partial to Steven Strait given that he’s grabbed me with that robot movie that got me erect for almost two hours. Besides, he has tons of varied resources for tons of verses in case we need to go there. I’m also partial to Oscar Isaac since he’s got the resources for a school teacher already. He’s latino and he’s fucking amazing at everything he does.
My second choice is Sean Teale because latino, but I’m not sure he’s got all the resources required (though I do like this idea, because I can use The Gifted resources and turn him into a Photokinetic like Alice). My third choice is Sean Faris because he’s got the resources to play an FBI agent, but not sure if he can play a school teacher.
So, I’m undecided but I’m making great progress at it... I guess.
Addendum: I could also use Zachary Levi (though he’s a bit too nerd) or Aaron Tveit (though he’s too hot) so I’m still weighing my options.

My younger brother is 8 years younger than me. I usually don’t think it’s that much of an age gap, but every now and again, we talk about things that ended up being almost a cultural clash, because of how fast things have changed in the last few years (also, it makes me feel old, especially now that I’m 30).
Now, usually it’s stuff like, talking about sports, like tennis (he was just 2 years old when Marcelo Ríos was n° 1 in the ATP ranking, so besides knowing that fact and being aware of some players like Andre Agassi, he doesn’t know anything about that time, so sometimes I mention players of that era -Moyá, Kuerten, Ivanisevic, even Sampras- and he doesn’t know them) or football (he became kinda aware of the sport around the 2006 World Cup, so pretty much anything before that it’s new to him, like, I don’t know, he’s not always aware that much of the current generation of managers for example -think of Solksjaer, Solari, Inzaghi, Guardiola, or here in Chile, Salas, Sierra and many more- were players and I saw them play in their prime, so yeah, for him it’s new every time stuff like that comes up). Anyway, today we were talking about Dragon Ball (he was telling me how surprised he was that the english dub of Dragon Ball Super started months before the latin american one, and even with that in mind -plus some delays and hiatuses of the latin dub-, our version is way ahead of the english one) and he asked me if I first became aware of Dragon Ball from the time Cartoon Network broadcasted it in Latin America in the early 00′s (it was around 2002 if my memory doesn’t fail me). I told him that no, it was way before that, because Dragon Ball (and Z, and GT and the movies) were broadcasted in regular tv back in the mid 90′s. Like, it was around 97 (when I was in third grade) that the show appeared on TV, during a boom of anime around that time (I don’t know how many times I’ve mentioned it, but people outside Latin America don’t really understand how big Dragon Ball is here, and that’s because it was broadcasted in most on the continent, on regular TV, way before it was on cable -and way before the US-); where not only DB, but shows like Saint Seiya, Sailor Moon, Captain Tsubasa, Ghost Sweeper Mikami, Slayers, Slam Dunk, Pokémon, Marmalade Boy and many more were staples of children’s tv at the time.
But like, anime’s been on regular tv -commercial and public- since the 70′s (my dad, for instance, it’s a huge fan of both Gekkō Kamen -known here as “Capitán Centella”- and Kaitei Shonen Marin -known here as “Marino y la Patrulla Oceánica”-, because he saw them on regular tv when he was a child; another example, both of my parents are huge fans of Speed Racer and Robotech, the last one because it was one of the most popular tv shows broadcasted in Chile during the 80′s). Now, my brother wasn’t aware of any of that. At most he had vague memories of the controversies surrounding Pokémon (due to the infamous porygon episode, the show arrived with controversy and there were concerned parents and stuff, like, I had to watch the first episodes with my mom because she wanted to make sure everything was ok) and Dragon Ball (there was like, a bit of outrage because of the violence and people made a fuzz, so my mom tried to ban it, we didn’t listen, she told my dad, and then my dad started watching with us and became a fan), but he wasn’t even aware that there were also controversies surrounding shows like Ranma 1/2 and Sailor Moon (in the first case, because of the whole changing gender and the nudity; in the second case, because some characters were “androgynous”, like, I remember my mom tried to stop my sister from watching it, because of that). After cable tv became more widespread, channels like Cartoon Network and some other regional tv channels like ETC (a chilean cable channel that, to this day, still broadcast mostly anime) and Magic Kids (an argentine channel) jumped into the bandwagon, and that’s around the time when CNLA started broadcasting Toonami here (in like, different blocks, with Dragon Ball, Gundam Wing, and more action oriented shows in one block, and a late, more adult-oriented block, with shows like Love Hina, Samurai Champloo, Samurai X and many more). And that’s not mentioning the fact that regular chilean channels still broadcasted a lot of shows, like, Cardcaptor Sakura, Detective Conan, Inuyasha, the first Hunter x Hunter, and heck, even Evangelion -although with a lot of censorship, like, some episodes lasted less than 20 mins-, and many, many more, were on regular tv between the late 90′s and early til mid 00s.
Anyway, this ended up being way longer than what I originally intended, but wanted to make this reflection, that started as something related to the age gap between me and my brother and how that reflect in many things like sports and pop culture, and ended up almost as a rant about how anime has been a mainstain of latin american television for decades, but as with many things, it’s overshadow and overlooked by people in other countries.

As previously reported, manga author Takashi Shiina (Ghost Sweeper Mikami, Zettai Karen Children) has been hired to illustrate the "comicalize" manga adaptation of the Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon TV anime for Shueisha's Shonen Sunday S manga magazine, and to celebrate Shiina recently took to Twitter with an illustration paying homage to some of Rumiko Takahashi's other famous creations.

Games I Wish Was On The Super NES Classic
As some of us already know, official preorders for the Super NES Classic will finally be taken this month. And wile I am looking forward to actually having the damn thing (yeah, way to handle supply and demand there Nintendo) I can't help but think that as far as selection goes for titles, there are quite a few I think that could have been considered, but could not be added for obvious reasons. (Like license issues) That said, I came up with a small list of SNES games I think should have been added or considered.
1) Pocky and Rocky
There are a lot of good shooters in the SNES library. And, yes, this is one of them. You play the role of a shrine maiden and her Tanuki pal, wandering around through various stages and shoot the ectoplasm out of anysupernatural menace willing to stand in your way. It was also pretty damn tough. I mean really, good luck in stage 2. There was a sequel that was released in the US as well, but the first one is usually the one people remember.
2) Zombies Ate My Neighbors
A quirky and fun 2 player game from the LucasArts (the same guys who helped bring us Maniac Mansion) it has you as either Zeke or Julia race through various B-Movie horror themed stages trying to save people from the monsters out to get them. How you succeeded depended on what weapons you used. (Seriously, who would think that a Tomato could kill a Martian quickly) And, best of all, if you make it to the final bonus stage after you win, you get a cameo from a certain purple denizen of Dr. Fred's mansion...
3) UN Squadron
Based on the anime/manga series Area 88, it was one of the first titles that Capcom released for the Super SNES. You could buy several different fighter planes and weapon payloads for each mission as you progressed and each of the fighters had abilities that affected gameplay. (Greg has better durability for example) Plus the soundtrack was BITCHING.
4) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time
'Nuff Said!!
5) X-Men Mutant Apocolypse
Another good licensed title from Capcom (gee, they did a LOT of those back in the days) It's an adventure game where you take certain X-Men through various stages and put their abilities to the test. And yes, you are right, Apocolypse is NOT the final boss of the game. It's Magneto. It's ALWAYS MAGNETO.
6) Ghost Sweeper Mikami- Joreishi wa Nice Body (SUPER FAMICOM ONLY GAME)
Yes, I know it's a foreign pick, but it is a really good action game, and if you like the anime series it is a fun title to play through.
7) Final Fantasy II (Final Fantasy IV)
While we do get Final Fantasy III (FF6) in the SNES Classic, I think it would be unwise to leave out this game, as it was what got me into the series to begin with. Plus, "you spoony bard".
8) Secret of Evermore
Another underrated classic which I think deserves a sequel!
9) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
A lot of fighting games were also made on the SNES. This one, based on the TMNT, was one of the more challenging games I've played. (Believe me, any fight on level 4 and up will HURT) and also the better of the three developed. (The others being for the NES and Genesis)
