I've fallen into this fandom pretty hard. This is the first complete art piece I've made in ages.
It compliments my fic nicely, too.

Summary:
Tucker Foley receives a desperate text from his best friend, Danny Fenton, asking for help. When Tucker arrives at Danny’s basement, he finds the inactive Ghost Portal Project is on.
The evening had been quiet—too quiet for Tucker Foley’s liking. He had been tinkering with his tech in the comfort of his room when his phone buzzed on the desk. Picking it up casually, Tucker froze at the sight of the message.
“I’m in trouble, come quick.”
It was from Danny.
Tucker’s heart skipped a beat. Deep in Tucker’s gut alarm bells rang that something had gone very wrong. He trusted his gut with his life. Tucker’s hands moved on autopilot, tossing his stuff into a backpack as he sprinted out the door, heart hammering in his chest.
It wasn’t a long run to Fenton Works, but the growing knot of anxiety in his stomach made the journey feel like an eternity. He tried calling Danny twice, but both calls went straight to voicemail. No answer. No sign that Danny had even seen the messages Tucker sent back.
By the time Tucker reached Danny’s house, the sun was sinking low on the horizon, casting long shadows across the street. The familiar shape of Fenton Works loomed before him, and Tucker’s stomach churned at the sight of green light seeping through the tiny basement window. The ghost portal. Had something gone wrong with the portal?
Bursting through the front door, Tucker barely paused to catch his breath as he descended the stairs into the lab. The moment his feet hit the basement floor, the hum of the ghost portal surrounded him. The air was thick with an unnatural energy, sending goosebumps prickling across his skin.
But it wasn’t the glowing portal that made Tucker’s heart stop.
It was Danny.
He was sprawled out in front of the portal, unmoving, his body limp against the cold metal floor. His black and white Phantom suit was torn, his face pale— too pale —and his chest wasn’t rising. There was no mistaking it. Tucker had seen death before, but never like this. Never Danny.
Tucker dropped his bag and ran to his friend, dropping to his knees beside Danny’s lifeless form. His hands trembled as he touched Danny’s wrist, then his neck, desperately searching for a pulse.
There was nothing. No heartbeat. No warmth. Only cold, stiff skin.
“No… Danny, come on, man, wake up!” Tucker’s voice broke as he gently shook his best friend, hoping for some sign, any sign that this wasn’t real. “You can’t—this can’t be happening!”
But Danny didn’t move. He was dead—had been for hours.
Tucker’s breath came in ragged gasps, his mind reeling. How had this happened?
And yet here he was—cold, lifeless, gone.
Tucker wiped at his eyes, his vision blurring with tears. The ghost portal behind him thrummed ominously, casting an eerie green glow across the room. It was on.
The portal was working.
His parents had been trying to get it operational for years, and somehow… somehow it had activated.
Tucker’s stomach twisted. Had Danny been caught in it? Had the portal malfunctioned, or had a ghost attack gone wrong? The possibilities raced through his mind, each one worse than the last.
His phone buzzed in his pocket, pulling him out of his thoughts.
Tucker blinked, momentarily confused. With shaking hands, he pulled out his phone and looked at the screen.
A new text.
From Danny.
“Where are you? Hurry.”
The blood drained from Tucker’s face. He stared at the screen, his mind unable to process what he was seeing. It couldn’t be real. Danny was dead. Dead. His body was lying right in front of him. How could he be sending texts?
His phone buzzed again, the noise slicing through the heavy silence of the lab like a knife.
“Please, hurry. I’m still here.”
Tucker’s breath hitched, and he glanced back at Danny’s body. His best friend hadn’t moved. He was still pale, still cold. Still dead. Tucker’s hands trembled as he looked between Danny’s body and the glowing ghost portal.
“Still here…” Tucker whispered, his voice barely audible.
Another buzz.
“Please, Tucker. You need to help me.”
Tucker wiped at his eyes again, determination settling in his chest as he stared at the swirling green vortex of the portal.
His phone buzzed one last time.
“Please. I’m scared.”

Yeah, I made a comic. Why? Cuz, I love to suffer. OTL
Based on my fic.*shameless self-promo* Relevant snippet below the cut.
...
Stepping deeper now into the cavernous inner chamber, he kept a hand on the wall as he peered into the gloom, wondering what could've caused the machine to malfunction. He took another step forward, nearing the far end of the chamber, his hand sliding along the wall until it passed over a slight depression and then a protrusion. His foot suddenly bumped against a thick cable on the floor and he shifted his weight in surprise. That's when he felt the protrusion beneath his hand sink into the wall with a click!
He stumbled back and saw a control panel where his hand had been, the buttons labeled on and off. He soon realized what he'd done as the chamber let out a heavy CLUNK and began to whir and hum, the glowing lines of circuitry growing brighter as the sound crescendo'd to a deafening peak. Danny heard his friends call out to him in surprise, but he found himself frozen in place as he turned to see a bright green light bloom at the end of the chamber into a brilliantly blinding flash!
Suddenly, a massive surge of energy ripped into his body! It took his breath away--pulled from his lungs in a painful scream as his muscles contracted violently, body spasming and convulsing as every nerve burned and sizzled! His heart pounded erratically in his chest, harder and faster than he'd ever felt in his life, as though it might explode! He clutched at his chest with another painful spasm, doubling over in pain as he tried to take a breath. It was an agony like nothing he'd ever felt before. It felt like dying. Like his body was being ripped apart, molecule by molecule.
Then as quickly as it began, it was over. His eyes rolled back as he collapsed to the floor, a blackness overtaking everything.
...
While the two friends busied themselves with their own activities, they didn't notice the atmosphere of the lab change... until it was too late. The CLUNK of the machine quickly drew their attention and both Sam and Tucker dropped what they were doing to watch in horror as it whirred to life.
"Danny?" Sam called out to her friend, "Danny, what's happening?!" The whir of the machine grew louder and louder, and Sam's heart sank in dread.
Tucker rushed back to the portal entrance to see what was happening, and joined in Sam's concern. "Danny, get out of there! Something's wrong!" he shouted over the noise, but it was too late. A bright flash of light burst from the machine, forcing the pair to shield their eyes as the deafening hum was replaced by Danny's agonized screaming.
"DANNY!!" Sam dropped her camera and lurched toward the portal entrance, but Tucker caught her waist and pulled her back.
"Sam, don't! It's too dangerous! You could get hurt!"
"But Danny's IN THERE!! We have to SAVE him!!" she argued, pulling against his grip, but Tucker held tight.
"I’m sorry, Sam... there's nothing we can do."
Yet, Sam refused to just stand by and do nothing. She broke free of Tucker's arms and rushed forward... but it was already over.
Danny's body crumpled to the floor with a thud and laid motionless beyond the threshold of the machine as a swirling green vortex formed inside. The two friends stared in quiet horror, before Sam stumbled forward into the machine to pull Danny's limp body back from that sinister green portal as it grew to fill the entire chamber.
She felt her heart clench as she dragged him back into the lab and rolled him onto his back. His once jet black hair was now a shock of white, and he felt cold beneath her fingers. A faint stench of burning wafted from his body, his suit a charred black and the rubber ashen. She knelt beside him, a hand on his chest, the other gently brushing the hair from his face.
"Tucker..." She looked back at the other boy in restrained panic, her voice wavering as she spoke. "He-- He's not breathing."

The Cost
whumptober24 day 7- only for emergencies, magic with a cost fandom- Danny phantom tw- Danny dies, but when does he not summary- the GIW are never going to stop
masterlist ao3
They wouldn’t stop. They were never going to stop. His parents would never get it. The GIW would never get it. It didn’t matter that the evidence was all around them. That ghosts aren't evil. That every second that they kept the portal open more and more ectoplasmic radiation leaked through and contaminated more citizens. They wouldn't shut the portal off. Why would they? It was key to their research. Without the portal where would they get the ghosts to study?
It didn’t matter that people were becoming contaminated to the point where they were developing abilities. That just meant more test subjects. After all, if you were ecto-contaminated then you fit under the Anti-Ecto Acts, and by this point, all of Amity was contaminated. Especially the children.
Danny was doing as much as he could. Sam and Tucker and Valerie were helping. But it wasn’t enough. People were disappearing, children were disappearing. And even though more and more people were turning against the GIW, it didn’t matter.
The GIW were the ones with the weapons. The ones with the power.
Danny needed to end this. End the GIW. If he didn’t, then everyone would suffer and the contamination would just keep spreading.
He had been the one to turn the portal on, the one to start all of this. He had to be the one to end it.
And Danny was a halfa, born as the fabric between realities was torn. He was powerful, and he would be even more powerful one day. But they didn’t have time to wait.
Everything a ghost was and ever would be, was stored in their core. Which meant that all that power that Danny would one day have, was stored in his core. He just had to find a way to let it out.
He didn’t tell his friends. He knew they wouldn’t like the idea.
But if the portal had given him his powers, who was to say that it wouldn’t unlock the rest?
And so here he was. He had unplugged the portal before walking inside and flipping the safety switch to off. That’s what it had been. A safety switch his parents had stupidly put on the inside of the portal. Then he had plugged the portal back in and walked inside.
Now he was standing in front of the switch, the same thing that had killed him. Was he really doing this? He wasn’t even really sure it would work.
But… there were people suffering right now, people he could save if he was just a little stronger, a little better.
He clenched his jaw and opened his eyes. Then, he slammed his hand on the button and felt the energy tear through him.
He screamed.
—-
No one was really sure what had happened. The GIW had been getting worse and worse, carting people off to their base on the edge of the city. Everyone had been terrified they would be next.
But then…
A creature had appeared in the sky. Something that hurt to look at with too many limbs and too many wings and too many eyes and horns and teeth. It was the color of shifting galaxies, of stars being born before exploding into supernovas before collapsing into black holes only for new stars to take their place. No one could look at it for more than a moment.
But it tore through the GIW base, through the town. There were screams and the sounds of firing ecto-weapons. People bunkered down and prayed for the newest threat to soon be over.
And when silence finally fell and people stepped out of their houses, they saw that the only thing that had been destroyed was the GIW base. And as families and friends gathered they saw that everyone was there, even those who had been captured by the GIW.
Only the GIW had disappeared, along with the Fenton parents who had recently joined their ranks.
And in the midst of the celebration, there were only four figures who no one noticed running to the Fenton household. They were the first to see that the portal had been destroyed along with the lab.
And while everyone else rejoiced in the coming weeks, happy to see that not only were the GIW not a threat, but that ghosts had also stopped invading, there were only three children along with the older Fenton girl who grieved for the youngest Fenton.
It was only those four who knew what had happened, what had been sacrificed for their freedom, for their salvation.

I think if Danny had PTSD from the portal accident, he may scratch or pick at his neck as it's the only part of the suit that (I dunno how to describe it) connects to bare skin. The suit while hazmat would have melted a lil right? It would itch there and eventually with enough scratching he would have some scars there. Idk just a though

Oof
You know, if you think of it, cannoncially Danny's been zapped by the ghost portal 3 times.
The first time was when he first got his powers.
The second time was in Memory Blank, when Sam convinced him to regain his powers.
The third was in The Episode We Shall Not Name, when he got rid of his powers (then I would guess you could count him regaining his powers as a fourth time, even though it did not come from the Ghost Portal).
Danny: If I had a nickel for every time I was zapped with enough energy that I was basically killed, I would have 3 possibly four nickles, which isn't a lot, but it's weird it's happened that many times.
