Zhongli’s words reach your ears just as you step out of the gate. He is behind you and a little voice in your head says that this is exactly what you wanted – exactly what you always want. Some people look their best when they leave, some people shine the most when they turn their back on you; and you might be one of them. Maybe Zhongli has started to fall apart and forget but this just means that he will remember you all the more. Being a memory that never fades from the mind of someone so once holy, someone with such a long life – it sounds tempting.

“Yes. As you can see.” “At least turn around so that I can see you leave properly.”

His voice always tempted you, and, in some ways, you know you will always remember it. His voice always shines with gold, if you could tread it out like in some old stories, you know it would be golden strings that shine under the sun. But you can’t, and when leaving him behind, you have no desire to do so.

The ground under your feet is no longer guided by sun. The moonlight has taken over. And it seems gentler than the look Zhongli is shooting at you once you turn around. Why not humour him one last time?

“I need you to tell me something.” Somehow, his voice still sounds the same way it did on the day you met but your emotions are no longer swayed by it. It seems to have lost its power; just like him.

So he remembers? He remembers the night you two met and spent together? If you were the villain in the story, the audience would be yelling at you that this should be enough. If he remembers how you met, must he also remember you leave? Yes. He must. He should always do so. You will remember it too but something always says Zhongli is not the place you should call home.

When you were 10 you remember, at least you think you do, It seems like a dream at this point – but you remember that it might have been a type of vision for your future. When you were 10, you were walking next to a river that reminded you of the sky. When you knelt in front of it to see your reflection be so clear – you saw a rock. Your hands submerged themselves into the cold to reach for it because it seemed to be calling out to you. Once you pulled it out – you realized it was shaped like a heart.

A miracle, right? You never heard anyone else tell such a story and you swore to keep it forever. A few days later, it somehow got lost and no matter how much you searched for it; it was never found.

That is what Zhongli remind you of.

After he sees you and realizes you won’t say anything, you won’t tell him if you remember, you turn around again and start walking.

Away. Away from him.

And Zhongli knows that he gave up so much power for the good of his people. But now he finds a selfish part of him. If he had all of his power, he could stop you from leaving. He could order you to tell him if you remember. He knows that Rex Lapis does not have a future. And he just became aware that, he, Zhongli, does not have a future with you either.

3rd shift is slowly draining all of my lifeforce but this place pays rly well + i can get homework done & not really have to interact with a lot of guests so i dont Really wanna leave....but ik if i switched to a day shift i'd wanna quit on the spot
