Ghanaians decides as their votes counts on the ballot

Ghanaians are today set to choose a president and new parliamentarians amidst the Covid 19 pandemic, Youth unemployment, security concerns and their economy.

President Nana Akufo-Addo 76, is running for his second term against 11 other aspirants his main challenger being his Predecessor John Dramani Mohama 62.

This is the first time since 1992 that the election is held without the presence of late former president Jerry Rawlings, who oversaw the return of multiparty, died 12th November 2020.

The country is expecting a peaceful election after a law was passed last year banning vigilantism, however the issue of the existence of separate groups that have called for independence of Ghana to form Western Togoland has been put under control as the government has deployed the military to prevent any chaos ahead of the polls.

This time campaigns were conducted in line with The World Health Organization (WHO) regulations, and was done through memes, videos and social media to sell the messages, the media has also been used though the last day the politicians went against the regulations.

So far Ghana has recorded more than 50,000 infections of Covid 19 and 300 people died.
