Boko Haram claims to have kidnapped Nigeria's Katsina schoolboys, in an audio message
A man claiming to be the leader of Boko Haram said the terrorist group was responsible for kidnapping scores of schoolboys in northwestern Nigeria on Friday, according to a short audio message shared with Nigerian media and reviewed by CNN. "I am Abubakar Shekau and our brothers are behind the kidnapping in Katsina," said the man in the recording. Shekau is the leader of one of Boko Haram's factions. CNN was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the message. Some 337 students are still unaccounted for after an attack on the Government Science Secondary School Kankara, a state government spokesman told CNN on Monday. The message claimed that Boko Haram had targeted the school because of the group's long-held aim to stop "western" education in northern Nigeria, but a government official told CNN on Monday that the kidnappers had been in touch with a teacher of the school, raising the prospect of a ransom negotiation. Dr. Okoe Boye lost his seat in the just-ended parliamentary elections to the surprise of many who thought he should have been maintained. Constituents have blamed his decision not to attend their funerals and naming ceremonies and the fact that he is always wearing a three-piece suit as some of the reasons why they kicked him out. Some have also said that during the lockdown, Bernard Okoe Boye did not provide them with very good food hence the decision to vote him out. But regardless of the fact that he has been booted out of office, the Doctor is back to the consultation room to provide consultancy service to his constituents. Sharing his experience on his Facebook wall, the Member of Parliament said “First post-election Monday consultations at the Lekma Hospital. Some staff were happy to see me doing fine, some surprised at my activity having assumed that not winning the Parliamentary election meant away with community service. It is important to understand that the joy a true Leader experiences does not lie in the position he holds but in the Service his people receive. I thank God that you do not have to necessarily hold a position to assist others experience a better world. Because He lives, we can face tomorrow” Read the full article

NDC withdraws suit against EC in Techiman South, says it has no evidence to pursue
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has withdrawn their lawsuit against the Electoral Commission of Ghana concerning Techiman South parliamentary election results in the Bono East Region Until the morning of Monday, December 14, 2020, a suit was in place under a writ of Mandamus to compel the EC to re-collate and re-declare the results. The NDC in a series of press conferences last week claimed made those claims only to be hit by recorded video evidence of Collation and declaration. The party this morning ran back to the Sunyani high court to withdraw the case. It is not clear what’s next for them. After the declaration of Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah as the MP-elect for the constituency the NDC and its candidate led blistering attacks on electoral officers, security personnel, and some media men who were also not spared instead resorted to violence and intimidation. Speaking to the development on Accra-based radio station monitored by MyNewsGh.com, a member of the NDC legal team Baba Jamal revealed that the latest decision by the party was as a result of the fact that they do not have evidence to challenge the case in court. “They started with the coalition and stop when the confusion started so we were unable to sign the documents but the Returning Officers said he reached out to us but we were not around. And we said fine just give us a copy of it whether we signed or not but he refused. Do you think it is with good intention we were refused documents? “You don’t go Read the full article
