their name is Jam. they/them, 26, 2 inches tall.

used to be an adventurer when they were younger, a drifter floating around. when their chronic illnesses worsened in their twenties, they settled down into borrowing from humans instead. they used to have a home in the woods made from an old teapot, which they still stay at occasionally.

they’re chronically ill. they have POTS, fibromyalgia, CVS, and a handful of other ailments (same as me!). their illnesses prompted them to learn a decent bit of medical knowledge, and they always keep a lot of medicine and first aid supplies on hand, so they love to help any other tinies who need healthcare. they also have a cane fashioned from a human’s bamboo knitting needle, for bad fatigue days.

very shy and quiet, they do not speak much at all. it takes a billion years to gain their trust, and even when you’re friends they’ll prefer sitting in silence over chatting. they could sit next to you in dead quiet for three hours and it’ll be the best time they ever had. prefers nonverbal communication over speaking. on the very rare off chance you catch them in a chatty mood, prepare to not get a word in edgewise.

has a passion for baking and fiberarts. they love to bake anything, but yeast based breads are their ultimate favorite, having spent ages perfecting the recipes at a small scale. their pumpkin concha muffins? outta this world. when the dough is rising, they spend their time knitting - clothes and socks and bags from yarn, and mats and rugs and baskets from plastic and old scrap fabric. what they don’t use is given away to any tiny friends they meet, often with a dozen muffins or a loaf of bread nestled inside.

their cloak is a big knitted square, fastened with sewing pins. like when you make a cape out of a blanket. the sewing pins have small rubber stoppers so they don’t hurt themself, but they can pop them off and use the pins as makeshift daggers. their cloak is easy to remove, and they always wear light clothing underneath, as POTS makes them overheat easily. they gotta be able to shed layers quickly.

they are two inches tall! very tiny even for a tiny. they love to wear fun platform boots stolen from dolls, in theory to make themself taller to help talk to other tinies, but they barely help. dude’s still small. on worse health days its flat slippers all the way. on good health days they prefer to dress alternative/punk, and on bad health days they dress like adam sandler with gerard way’s eyeliner.

The healthcare system was a disaster. The nursing staff was always underpaid and understaffed, the shifts were simply far too long and exhausting. There were times where you wondered why you were still in this industry until you remembered that you enjoyed helping people. That was also one of your qualities that Kyojuro loved so much about you. The sacrifice and dedication and passion you had for your job. He couldn't be prouder of you. Even if it means that there were days you would rather spend your day off sleeping in bed then going out with him.

And he wanted you to rest as much as possible, which is why he very carefully got up from your shared bed to prepare breakfast for you. To be more precise, he tried, because what he had done in the kitchen wasn't really close to cooking.

You scrunched up your face as a pungent smell hit your nose, very similar to burnt food. The alarm bells inside you were ringing. You opened your eyes and threw the blanket away, trying to locate the source of the smell as fast as possible only to be greeted by a broad back standing in front of the stove.

“My little flame! Unfortunately something went wrong here, but please don’t worry, I have everything under control!”

Control looked a little bit different, but all the panic from before left you when you saw his flour stained face. You sighed and went to him just to wipe away the traces with your fingers. “Good morning to you too.” You stood on your tiptoes to kiss him on the lips and then looked onto the stove. “What is this going to be when you are finished?”

"I wanted to make you some pancakes, but I don’t know where I went wrong." His big gold-red eyes looked at you while his black bushy eyebrows furrowed. He looked so incredibly cute that you wanted to kiss him again.

“Let me do that…” Your smile and your movements were gentle as you took the spatula from his hand and pushed your hip against the side of his to make room for yourself.

Kyojuro stepped behind you, his arms around your waist as he looked over your shoulder and watched you carefully as you mixed the dough again and then added it to the pan in dollops. The results were perfect golden brown pancakes at the end. “I wanted to surprise you because you were so exhausted after your shift and I messed it up.”

“The thought alone counts, my love.” You turned off the stove once you had stacked all the finished pancakes on a plate.

“Yes, but the shadows under your eyes say otherwise.” His gaze was now worried. He knew how hard you worked as a nurse. “How about this?” He suddenly grabbed you under your thighs and carried you in his arms, giving you a big smile. "I'll carry you to bed and you stay there. I'll bring the pancakes to you and we will have breakfast in bed. Then we'll cuddle and sleep for another round!”

Your arms wrapped automatically around his neck when he lifted you. You looked at him, wondering what you had done to deserve him. This wonderful man who was so strong and so caring. God you loved him so much. “This sounds like a date for me.”

Malon smiled, hands on her hips as she surveyed all the ingredients and cookware in front of her. She had organized her tools on her counter like a scrub tech would lay out tools for a surgery, which she had noted halfway through with a touch of amusement, but it was routine to her, so she let it carry over into her kitchen.

Today was the day she and Time finally had more than one day off together, and she was choosing to celebrate. Being domestic and making some bread seemed appropriate, and she'd gone to the bakery with Four enough times to want that amazing smell of freshly baked bread wafting through her own home.

Time to get to work. Reading the cookbook, she yelped when she felt hands slide around her waist.

"Oh, you!" she harrumphed, bopping her husband on the face with a roll of paper towels. "I'm trying to bake!"

"I see that," Time noted. "Need some help?"

"The last time you tried to help you set the bread on fire."

"That was only one time, dear."

Malon shooed him. "Go outside and spend some time with the horses like you've been wanting to. I'll meet you out there."

Time smiled and obliged, though not before stealing her dish rag and making her chase him and pay a toll of a kiss for its safe return. Eventually she set to work, focusing and enjoying the task at hand. As she combined flour, yeast, sugar, and salt, she couldn't help but wonder how all of this would make a good loaf.

Well, it doesn't have to be perfect, she supposed. Just edible. I can do edible. I'm a mighty fine cook, after all... or at least I used to be before my nursing career destroyed my free time.

But she'd never baked, and she knew how precise of an art that was.

Malon poured the hot water into the mixture, hesitantly stirring it with a spoon before getting her hands dirty. The first mistake was that she definitely should have put flour on her hands to avoid the dough sticking to her, but it seemed to form together well enough under her hands.

Smiling at her work, Malon covered the dough and set a timer on her phone before washing her hands and strolling out to see Link riding Epona around the field.

She let her hands do the work automatically, easing her mind and heart, settling into a familiar, comforting routine. The dough was smooth and bouncy under her hands, a satisfying texture that distracted her enough. She could get her worries out through liberally kneading it, hands and mind so in sync that she hadn't even noticed she'd been abusing the dough for so long the shadows in the house had shifted positions.

Shaking her head, she covered the loaf to let the dough rise, making her way to her children.

The Wildlings

Tilieth stared bemusedly at the ingredients. Her finger bounced from item to item, listing it out loud in an attempt to ensure she had everything. After repeating the word salt four times and staring into the void, she discovered why her brain was short circuiting.

"I forgot flour!" she groaned.

Wait! No, she hadn't forgotten flour, that was literally the most basic ingredient to making bread. She had it somewhere.

One search later, Tilieth had discovered that not only did she have flour, but also shriveled Hylian tomatoes that probably would have benefitted from being eaten a week ago.

Okay. Now she had what she needed.

Excited, she began to mix ingredients, having never made bread before. She wanted to see if she would be any good at baking different kinds of loaves, hoping to try new food and perhaps even share it with her parents and Abel. Her newlywed husband was actually sleeping in for the first time since they'd been married, and she was going to take advantage of it by surprising him.

Rummaging through their kitchen, she paused as she found that she wasn't entirely sure where the measuring cup was. She was certain she had put it in this one cabinet, but...

Ah, wait, her mother had moved it when Til had gotten overwhelmed organizing the new home.

With a triumphant, quiet ha! Tilieth pulled the item in question out and held it up to inspect it happily. She finally had everything she needed.

It wasn't until she was halfway through kneading that she remembered she didn't have a bread knife to cut the loaf that she was halfway through making.

The Princess

Zelda took a steadying breath as she stared at the bowl. Link had been cooking with her and teaching her basic recipes for a while now, and she finally wanted to try something for herself. Her friend and loyal companion was out of town, having gone to Zora's Domain to visit, leaving Zelda to sort out organizing her new home.

This was the first meal she'd ever made alone.

For a moment, she felt heartache at the thought of it. But it only lasted a moment, and instead, she felt eager, excited anticipation bubbling in her chest. No, she no longer was fed by royal chefs, no longer provided provisions by any settlement or outpost they visited. But she was building a new life for herself, and she finally felt like she was regaining her footing in a world that had seemed so empty and foreign a few months ago.

This was more than just baking bread. This was the start of a new chapter, this was her proving to herself that she could do this.

And so she set to work, having researched the recipe meticulously, eager to get every aspect of it right, ready to show herself that she was capable, that nothing was wrong with her, and that if she could piece herself back together, then she could rebuild Hyrule just as well.

Bit of a rant but...

Honestly I often find myself despising existence here in the place I live which would be America. Tell me why healthcare isn't free yet?? I got a call from the hospital that I was in for MONTHS like last week and what do you mean I have an expected pay of over 200k dollars??? Like an I tripping??? Honestly I'm tempted to cry about it just typing it out because what?! I'm 21 and got sick out of the fucking blue and now after not being able to work or use my body like I could before ending up at the hospital I'm expected to pay that much in bill??

Lord help us, Lord help ME. Like I get so discouraged because I'm like why can't I just have the money? The funds I need? At most all I CAN do is write and draw for some loose change.

My mom is sleeping beside me rn so let me not have a break down immediately but Gods ... They stay saying America is the best country and I'm sure one more bad incident would leave me fucking homeless. Like it's not fair at all. Like you could get sick one good time and get fucked over from them on our.

Not to mention my mental health is shit. Granted it always has been but I've been stuck in a loop of getting super sad but never happy enough. Like I'm not allowed to be anything other than upset, or in pain some kind of way...like can't I just have money to get my dog to the vet when he needs it? How able money to keep food in my fridge for my family since it's not like I'm doing anything to help them??...

I'm sorry I did get lost in that but literally, I draw... I write.... Prices on art can be negotiable but prices on writing is set in stone.

I think I'm getting better now

I don't feel like shit this much right after waking up and when I do sometimes it goes away on it's own a bit quicker

my 'seemingly out of nowhere or from stress and physical activity pains' are less painful that what they used to be in the past few years and even tho I still can't do that much it's way better than I thought I could get

since I both dropped out of high school (and apprenticeship too) and it was literally too late to do anything bc it was almost end of school year I'm not 'obliged' to see people or go to place where stress anxiety and fatigue eat me alive

with 3 above comes better sleep too I can go to sleep and wake up whenever I want without a worry so it helped a lot too I also can sleep less and feel better (I realize how ridicilous it sounds but I always felt like shit when sleeping '8h like a normal person' but when I slept for only few hours I felt really good energetic and refreshed)

I'm more energetic and feel actual motivation to do stuff get better and rather than 'I wanna have bare minimum of living conditions to survive and not go insane' it's 'I wanna make my life better to actually live and enjoy it'

I've managed to take better care of my emotions and even open up more to 'right people' and not bottle them up or turn them into just self depricating jokes like I always did I even vented 2 times (first time 5h and second around 3/3,5h I swear I would have never thought I'll ever do it and for such a long time too I know I def wouldn't manage to when I was younger) also treating tumblr as my personal diary and venting helped too I don't really care if haters or someone I know irl sees my posts if they see this and are gonna have a problem with that it means we just never meant to be friends honestly it's better this way since from that I'm gonna have an easy way of getting to know this

for the one above thank you friends I've made in the past few years also to dca fandom and furry community ya'll have one of the most welcoming people there it's hard to feel uncomfortable and bottle up the emotions around you don't change ever 🫶 (ig it's easy to see someone's struggling when you have first hand experience sobs /hj)

after years of struggling to understand 'what is wrong with me' in everyday life and school I realized I have autism and adhd (thank you reddit tons of articles online and friends with autism 🤝) unfortunately the healthcare sucks where I live especially the mental so I can get a proper diagnosis but I'm 100% sure it's that and knowing what is 'wrong' with me takes away a lot of weight off my shoulders and I finally don't feel bad abt having stuff like sensory issues and problems with understanding certain social norms etc

I learned to go out to buy groceries without being on the brink of a panic attack again so now it's the same as it was when I was younger while I don't like doing it at least I can actually go and buy something

I can now bake again without being reminded of the time I was stuck as an apprentice in horrible work environment were even faint smell of dough or vanilla sugar outside of the workplace were enough to be triggering

I'm finally getting back my 'bad mouth and attitude' as others liked to say when I disagreed with something when they thought they were the smartest person in the room while being wrong so I can now say what I really think and not cry while literally just defending myself and my personal opinions so again going back to how I was when I was younger

I'm a bit less worried abt my cats since the vet clinic was opened in my village (the one where there are actual ppl working here and not just pretending I still don't get it how they were making any money since they weren't open most of the time) and even though I still don't have money for the vet at the very least once I get enough I'll have it close to get them to one

I have way less suicidal thoughts now I hope one day I can get it to 0 or at the very least to 'random thought of remembering the bad past'

I'm trying to speak english outloud to try and learn the right pronunciation (I know what the word is supposed to sound like but I have problems with speaking even in my native language) also I'll try to make phone calls and leave voice messages once I feel more brave to do so I also have in plans trying to read some fics or books to get both my spoken english and reading skills better at the same time since I'm terrible at reading outloud too

I managed to switch from traditional art to digital decently quickly imo and now that I even draw a lot faster than I used to the thought of actually making a living from art seems way less insane now

I've made few good friends both irl and online that I have common interests with and that I'm vibing with hopefully once the weather gets less intense and my health get better and I'll have some money to go out we'll meet
