Hi everyone! I was not expecting this to be my first PAC but I felt called to do it. We’ll get a message of the season for you, the autumn vibes your energy gave off, and an extra message based on something spooky for Halloween! Hope you enjoy :]

I don’t know a lot about specific cryptids, but I was mainly seeing something very hairy, humanoid, and bat-like. A small portion of you may resonate more with the Loch Ness Monster. The message I’m getting here is you guys have or are currently recognizing who you are and accepting that. In the past you may have conformed to others’ standards and this bred self hate or lack of self entirely. A place of self love and understanding is the focus, where you accept all your quirks and individuality even if others can’t. Halloween extra—Ghost [the Tower, the Empress]: many of you already feel like a ghost, disconnected from everything. Halloween extra—Shadow Person [the Star, page of wands]: for you guys, I’m channeling shadow people. I heard, “he’s just standing there… menacingly!!” Funnily, for other pile’s Halloween specials their energy and message matched the creature well, but for you guys it feels different. I think it’s because you have a more lighthearted energy, like if you were a shadow person you would troll people for laughs lol. Anyway, your cards seem to say the same thing! You guys have already gone in and out of really dark times—you’ve been in the shadow and separated your identity from it. Even if you’re in one right now, you’re not at the lowest point you’ve been and there’s potential for positive change. You’ve gone through the ringer probably more than once. (Admitting that I'm goofing around with writing lyrics for this. ^^; Because I got this idea for making a "modern" DND character who claimed it as her theme song.

Tall Black woman with gigantic blowout Afro, silver lipstick, white long-sleeved tunic with silver rings and light grey straps across it...some small pouches and potion vials secured to the hardware. Old school black leather motorcycle jacket, ripped white stonewash jeans, tall black leather goth platform boots.

Possibly paladin or bard/fighter?

She does mounted combat...just, on a motorcycle, not a horse, because she belongs to a "biker gang".

It's kinda tongue-in-cheek tho, because, the way they act, it's a biker gang as portrayed by the cast of a movie musical 😆... 🕺🏻💃🏾👩🏽‍🦽🤸👨🏼‍🦽🕺🏿💃

Also, she lives in an anarcho-communist-solarpunk-city, sooooo....

It's like, a biker gang, IF a biker gang were basically a group of street medics/nurses, construction workers, and varied laborers and carers riding around dancing and partying and hooting and hollering while offering all kinds of immediate no-strings-whatsoever free assistance to all their fellow city residents and visitors all day.

o.o Oh, and they're mostly comprised of disabled and mentally-ill folk...so, there's a heavy "cripple punk" flavor to them....i-it's this whole thing that, I just, I love it so much. 😂 Music gives me too many fun ideas to keep up with!

It is NOT a good relationship. In fact, it has been abusive and neglectful for over a decade, to the point of ruining my life and about 99.999999% of my opportunities, when I was already in a precarious position from a fucked up childhood to begin with...

The thing about that is, abusive people and families have a way of making SURE, that, either financially or physically(i.e. medically) or both -- via sabotage, weaponized incompetence, flat out lies, all sorts of things -- you get put into a corner where you can't leave and can't make any moves...so, as much as I'm starving to leave, I'm in no position to.

Last thing I googled: Autumn trees 🍂🍁✨ (for something I'm writing, though they're certainly a pleasure just to look at n_n )

Current obsession(s):

Casual stuff -- DND, music. Games: Fields of Mistria and Pacific Drive (let's plays for winding down, cause I don't personally have anything to ACTUALLY play the games on 😅).

IRL Goals --

Goal 1: Trying to figure out how to commission art for a children's book *without* cheating the artist out of the kind of funds they SHOULD get (as opposed to the funds I actually HAVE 😅😅😅)...may well be a pipe dream.

Goal 2: Wondering if I could use a family resource I've suddenly been given access to (🤯unintelligible squeaks of disbelief🤯), to create a private space where I can go to finally rest once in a while from my miserable home life and focus on rebuilding my health and my writing...it would probably take a GoFundMe and a ton of planning and some time...but it might mean that I get to do SOMETHING with my life that actually makes sense to me before all is said and done...

Best case scenario? If I can get the right materials and plan together, I could even plant a food forest nearby! 😳😭❤️‍🩹❤️‍🔥✨ And that could provide a way for me to subsist on very little money...and then I could offer excess produce to pretty much anyone in need!

....And I've been wondering if maybe these two IRL goals could be combined. (⁠・°・)⁠ゞ

Like, maybe I could offer the children's book for free online, but any DONATIONS the book draws would get split 50/50 between the artist and me.

November 2018 -*PlayLi$t of the Month*

The underground sound ain’t playin’ around in 2018.

Over the last few weeks, The Alchemist has received even heavier play than usual through these headphones of mine (I just got the wireless buds from my in-laws, I think I dig them!). That’s thanks in no small part to his fantastic recent contributions to Westside Gunn, Schoolboy Q, Curren$y and Freddie Gibbs. October closed with a powerful flurry of new rap releases, both of the underground and mainstream variety, so I am here to share my favorites on this especially stuffed edition of my PlayLi$t of the Month...

1. “Echo” - Swizz Beatz feat. Nas

(Let’s get the obvious out of the way first: this song is *vastly* superior to anything on that ill fated Nasir album with Kanye West. Whatever Swizz whispered to Nas to get him to snap back into Nasty mode, it should stand as further proof that the Ruff Ryder maestro’s status as a cultivator of hits is hall of fame worthy. Hearing the Queensbridge legend spit bars about old New York City life, watching karate films at dirty Time Square movie theaters, watching flashy cars drive up and down Steinway Street in Queens - there’s just no one better than Nasty Nas when he’s off to the races on a wave of nostalgia, thanks to his high attention to detail. DJ Scratch deserves just as much recognition for this sweet soulful back-drop, one of two strong Scratch showings in heavy rotation this month. “Echo” might be one of my favorite rap songs of the year, this is classic Nas.)

2. “'The Blow” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs

(Yeah we gotta talk about this FETTI project. The chemistry between Spitta, Gibbs and The Alchemist is off the charts, and that much has been clear since Covert Coup’s “Scottie Pippen” first rattled through speakers back in 2011. So needless to say, this FETTI album bangs top to bottom. My favorite cut off the album might not even be my favorite cut by this time next week, because the whole tape is staying in rotation for the foreseeable future.)

3. “Fork In The Pot” - The Alchemist feat. Conway, Westside Gunn & Schoolboy Q

(More Uncle Al, you say? What the hell, why not!? Before FETTI dropped on Halloween, this was the stand-out Alchemist leak for the month. The eagerly awaited B-Side to last month’s “94 Ghost Sh*t” A-Side that was teased on IG some time ago, “Fork In The Pot” is another incredible contribution to the growing ALC & Griselda canon, helped by a dope verse by Schoolboy Q that is sure to build hype for his upcoming album. Will it drop in 2018? All speculation at this point, but I say YES.)

4. “Saturday Night Special” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs

(More than any other track on FETTI, this one feels like classic Alchemist. A smokey loop like this one does indeed paint the perfect image of slowly cruising through the neighborhood on a late Saturday night, perhaps with a Saturday night special somewhere in the vehicle...or so I imagine - I myself have never lived that life, but the music is vivid, and the mood set by The Alchemist is palpable. What a great example of how the best producers don’t just make beats, they paint audio portraits. And like the lyrics themselves, the instrumental is, well, instrumental in telling the story.)

5. “N***as In Puerto Rico” - Westside Gunn feat. Lord Flee & Benny

(Folks, I really didn’t plan this, Alchemist is just that damn good! My favorite song off of Westside Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes 6 - wow, I can’t believe he’s up to 6 now - shows exactly what happens when these lyrical barbarians from Buffalo lock themselves down with The Alchemist in Puerto Rico for a while. Look out for the beat switch-up, as both instrumentals suit this gathering of MCs particularly well, making me that much more excited about what Al may have cooked up for Benny’s upcoming Tana Talk 3 album.)

6. “Something Dirty/Pic Got Us” - Swizz Beatz feat. Jadakiss, Styles P. & Kendrick Lamar

(While it might not pack the level of punch that fans hoped it would when Swizz first teased it live on stage a few months back - or even have an actual verse from Kendrick - Jadakiss & Styles P’s appearance on Mr. Beatz’ new Poison compilation remains one of the tape’s finer moments. Hearing Jada & SP pass the mic back and forth never seems to get old, plus this AraabMUZIK beat is still absolutely bonkers.)

7. “Willie Lloyd” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs

(It has felt like too long since I have shouted out an Alchemist joint, am I right? "Willie Lloyd’s” ominous instrumental makes for the ideal palette to have Gangsta Gibbs flex over, and flex he does, making it one of many stand-out verses on FETTI.)

8. “John Bena” - Westside Gunn feat. Lil Eto

(Yikes, this beat is pure menace music! And who produced it? None other than The Alchemist’s mentor, DJ Muggs, who has had quite an impressive year in his own right. Let the record show that both Westside Gunn and Eto do their thing on “John Bena”, which is no easy feat considering how overwhelming this instrumental could potentially be to weaker MCs. Furthermore, I feel like it needs to be said at this point that Westside Gunn is a VERY dope MC with his own style, traits that are not easy to come by in today’s biz. He raps his ass off on HWH6, so don’t think for a minute that WSG is carried by beats, he is not a replaceable presence on any track. So go cop that HWH6.)

9. “Location Remote” - The Alchemist, Curren$y & Freddie Gibbs

(A tape like FETTI warrants a cool, but eerie, intro track...and this fits the bill perfectly. I love the whole project, but I love this specific song more and more whenever I hear it. “Call the chiropractor” indeed, Mr. Gibbs - this joint is heavy.)

(Remember when I mentioned DJ Scratch earlier? Well this massive posse cut is part of this month’s 1-2 punch of Scratch production, lucky us! Here he channels classic Busta vibes for not just one, but two of Busta’s rhyme crews to slap around for a bit. What I really like about this song is that they all sound like they’re having fun here, which is not as common as I would like it to be in today’s posse cut starved rap market. Heart of Lead Update 9/24/17

Yo! I finally finished chapter 17 of the first draft of Heart of Lead book two. It clocks in at 3,635 words, and the entire draft has reached 52,883. This chapter stands on its own pretty well, but I’m not sure if it’s contributing enough to the main plot, so... eh. I get caught up in side plots quite easily. Still, it flows well, and editing is a thing, so I’m not going to worry too much!

There’s not too much flashy description or dialogue in this chapter, but here is something thematically important and character-development-y for Sorrel:

“We don’t ask why, okay?” She didn’t sound angry. For once, her voice held no trace of passion: no amusement, no indignance, no emotion at all. She kicked at the ground with the toe of her boot. “The Queen tells us what to do, and we do it. That’s what we’re made for. All we’re supposed to be is obedient. If we ask why, we make a mess of everything.”

Also: Autumn vibes!!!!

When I turned around at last, the hall was mostly empty. Long shadows were spreading across the marble floor, and someone had lit up the candles arrayed along the walls.

More Autumn vibes:

A spray of early autumn leaves blew in, brushing against my hands, and the three figures in their traveling clothes went out and disappeared from view.

Hello pumpkins!🎃

Today’s discussion marks my fifth post for Blogoween!

Some of you who have been following me for a while know that I have a certain sweet spot for bookish merch. In addition, autumn is also my favorite season. So when the two are mixed together, the result is pure ecstasy. One thing I know for sure is that I am definitely not alone in this. Book nerds everywhere share a love for all things literary, AND WE HAVE NO SHAME.

Today’s post is dedicated to all the bookish people out there who are part book lover, part bookish merch hoarder. Whether you hoard candles (like myself) or bookmarks, boy do I have some autumnal recommendations for you.

I am splitting this post up into sections that are categorized by product. I will then discuss a specific company that sells that product type. To keep things short and sweet, I am only going to mention 2-3 companies per product. All of the items I mention will be either autumn or Halloween themed in one way or another.

The products I will discuss:

1. Book sleeves and/or mug rugs 2. Bookmarks 3. Candles

Let’s get started!

SECTION #1: Book Sleeves & Mug Rugs

Company: The Cozy Life Shop Shop: etsy

While most companies who make book sleeves sell other products as well, The Cozy Life specializes in just book sleeves. They have also their own sizing system when it comes to choosing the perfect fit for your book (see below). Right Now, The Cozy Life has some pretty autumnal looking sleeves in stock. My favorite is the maple leaf design you see pictured above on the bottom right-hand corner. I’m also obsessed with all of the plaid designs in the shop. Even though they appear to be flannel, they are actually cotton!

I haven’t personally ordered from this shop yet, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about them from people that I trust. Just be quick when deciding on what you want if you really want it, because these book sleeves go fast.

Sizes run as follows: Redwood- the hardcover cozy (fits most hardcover books) Pine- the paperback cozy (fits paperback books & some smaller hardcover books) Sapling- the e-reader cozy (fits e-readers & mass market paperbacks).

Company: Sew Feathers Shop: etsy

While The Cozy Life specializes specifically in book sleeves, Sew Feathers sells both book sleeves and mug rugs. If you don’t know already, a mug rug is basically just a coaster created with fabric. Hence the term–mug rug. Sew Feathers doesn’t have a sizing system for their book sleeves, but if you check the listing details, it should have the dimensions stated somewhere in that description.

Sew Feathers currently has a mix of both Halloween and autumnal themed merchandise in stock. The quality of the items always looks amazing, as well. I honestly have so much trouble deciding on a favorite print when it comes to the sleeves, as they are all amazing. If I had to choose though, I guess I would pick the skeleton toile-inspired design. In terms of the mug rugs, I would hands down pick the pattern with the skeleton heads.

SECTION #2: Bookmarks

Company: SJ Wonderlandz Shop: etsy

SJ Wonderlandz is a shop I have purchased from multiple times before. Not only is the quality of their bookmarks awesome, but the designs are super fun as well. In addition to bookmarks, Sara (the owner) also sells greeting cards, art prints, ornaments, and even wands. In terms of autumnal bookmarks, there are currently six spooky-themed designs in the shop. I honestly love them all, but I truly think that the Dracula one is amazing.

Company: A Stranger Dream Shop: etsy

If you’re looking for a bookmark that’s more on the Halloween side of autumn, look no further than A Stranger Dream. This company specializes in horror-inspired artwork that is sold year round. They sell paper dolls that are meant to be used as bookmarks. How creative! Some designs range from Pennywise and Frankenstein, all the way to Carrie and Edgar Allen Poe. I’m not one for horror inspired designs, so when it comes to my favorite, I have to go with the least spooky one of them all–the Ouija planchette.

This is the quintessential bookmark shop for the fall season. If you purchase from one etsy seller on this list, make it this one.

Company: Happy Hello Co Shop: etsy

Happy Hello Co. is my absolute favorite magnetic bookmark shop. The reason I love them so much? The bookmarks are two sided! This means you can see the character’s face as well as the character’s backside. Having a double sided magnetic bookmark is also perfect for remembering what side of the page you left off at. Just put the face side on the correct page and voila! You’ll never forget!

Although Happy Hello doesn’t have a huge Halloween/autumn collection this year, they do have a wide variety of designs just in general. My favorite is the Hocus Pocus set. I just love how they also included the black cat (erhm boy?), Thackery from the film as well!

SECTION #3: Candles

Company: Canterbury Road Co. Shop: website | etsy

I have raved about Canterbury Road Co. time and again, so I don’t think this company needs much of an introduction. What I will say is that the owner, Shannon has a wide array of Halloween/fall candles to choose from. The labels pictured above are only the tip of the iceberg. Other candles range from Something Wicked This Way Comes, all the way to Currently Reading: Autumn Edition. I highly recommend purchasing from Canterbury this season. You won’t be disappointed.

Company: Get Fictional Shop: website | etsy

Get Fictional has the perfect aesthetic and packaging for for the autumn season. They sell their candles in amber jars with black lids. In addition, the product photos they take have dark lighting that sets an overall atmospheric/moody vibe.

In terms of spooky/autumnal candles, Get Fictional currently has a vast array in stock. My favorite is their Classic Horror line which features scents such as Sleep Hollow and Dracula. I am personally really hoping to purchase from Get Fictional before the season is over.
