I've had time to process and I think I've settled a bit. I think the transition from "Very Serious Logan Manpain" book to "Fuck It, Demons n' Shit, PLUS SURPRISE: THE GUY I CALLOUSLY HAD BUTCHERED IS BACK" book gave me a bit of whiplash.

I still maintain its bit weird to be transformed into a visage of your own father (especially considering Akihiro's history with Logan). Though I do understand it from a storytelling perspective, as it would completely give away the grand reveal if the new Hellverine even had trace hints of Akihiro, you know?

Plus, its pretty easy to explain away in-universe with demon magic, as the Bagra-Ghul was twisted by initially bonding to Logan. (And they kinda did explain it that way)

On to the Spoilers:

OH BOY DID THIS ISSUE GIVE A LOT OF BACKSTORY!!

We open to some exposition in relation to the Sabretooth War:

And surprisingly, it still kind of glossed over Logan's feelings about the situation. The narration here (and with this issue overall) was very Akihiro-focused-- at least, much more focused than I was expecting.

We have some clarity on what happened to his body:

Logan had taken his remains and buried them.

Presumably, Logan had gone solo (as his tends to do in his grief) and built his own grave for Akihiro.

Weirdly, I have mixed feelings about this. I personally really like this grave and having a burial site of stone and horn is badass.

Also, perfectly in character for Logan to build something like this for a loved one. In the sense of honoring them in death as a small attempt at atonement for what he couldn't give them in life.

But also, Logan knows 100% that NOT cremating his son is bad fucking idea. I'm sorry, but he's been dug up and used as an experiment himself (He made Tony Stark promise not to use his DNA for anything).

Like, I know people aren't the most logical when grieving, but this isn't the first time. And you can't tell me they "didn't have enough resources to cremate him." yes, they did.

But that is a really badass grave though.

Anyway, we also got more details on how Bagra-Ghul works/his motives:

Essentially, Aki is stitched bck up like that because of Demon Magic.

Bagra-Ghul chose him because he's Logan's son, and his recent death made him a suitable enough vessel. Presumably because the soul of the person was no longer there and couldn't fight back.

We then cut to Logan, who was taken to the Pentangle -- and General Harms has since decided to be more honest with Logan about the origin of the soldiers.

Logan is unimpressed, but doesn't really give a damn about American Soldiers-turned-hell-infused-undead-soldiers (probably because he's Canadian, but more importantly -- his son is involved. sorta).

Logan goes solo, but the Pentangle group has a hellhound to track him. Logan's idea is to use the hellfire soldiers as bait to get close to his son and go from there.

We then cut to the lone survivor of the undead unit that makes up the Hellfire soliders. He is alone and grieving (suffering from PSTD and survivor's gulit) and trying to distract himself with the news. He then sees the Pentagon Attack and recognizes his buddies.

We cut back to Akihiro, and we get that preview page. Aki doesn't have his memories and can't form words yet. He stops a terrorist who was trying to board a bus with a ton of c4 -- said terrorist wanted to go to the White House.

We then cut back to the graveyard, where General Harms meets with the Madam Secretary, who funded the Hellfire project. She's not happy and orders the General to fix it.

Then we shift to the grieving widow and child of one of the soldiers, but then the undead soldier shows up (clutching his daughter). Understandably, the widow is freaked out and asks him to leave.

The soilder, memories coming back, but not quite there yet, can only say "mine" but he does listen to his wife, lets his daughter go, and seems hurt and confused.

Logan immediately shows up after and decapitates him.

(Don't worry, that wasn't enough to send the soldier back to hell) Logan interrogates the head, asking where the other two soldiers are.

There's a scream from outside from the daughter and widow, because the hellhound also found them!

But luckily, the other two soldiers show up, logan gets hellfire blasted by the decapitated one so he's out for a bit. When he comes to, he finds dismembered hellhound and its handlers bits surrounding the widow and daughter.

Logan asks what happens, and basically the soldiers (called the Destroyers this issue) have declared war.

The scene then shifts back to Akihiro, who is also starting to piece his memories back together (THANK GOD -- I don't think I could handle it if they dragged out the memory loss thing too long)

He's being called to fight the destroyers.

My Thoughts:

This issue was much more Akihiro-focused than I expected.

We got a lot of answers, and it answered a bunch of my personal questions.

Namely, the shell is in fact Akihiro, and not a completely empty house for a demon. Also, why his body looks all stitched up like that. Helpful, but a little silly as to reasoning.

And thankkfully, he's already starting to get his memories back!

I suspect this will play into the final conflict, with Akihiro initially only remembering his hate for Logan (with the other stuff still hazy). Then, there's a big fight, Aki remembers, there's a touching moment and mini wraps up all conveinently with a hopeful ending.

(I mean, that sort of happened both with X-Force and Wolverine #50 -- both endings just wrapped everything up with a nice little bow)

I also suspect something similar will happen with the hellfire soldiers and their still-living comrade. As in, the comrad will make his way to the final showdown, remind the hellfire soldiers who they are, and then everything's fixed.

Maybe Bagra-Ghul transfers to them instead. Maybe he leaves Akihiro in general because his work is done, or something.

I'm still being a huge worrywort because the writer will not gain my trust back that easily, but I think this issue is a step in the right direction. I hope it can continue.

But also, the best boy is still going through it and I miss Aurora too (I personally want her to show up by the end to comfort Akihiro and that he makes a full recovery!)

Blue Eye Samurai spoilers

I like how foreshadowing in this show can be at the same time so subtle and so transparent at the same time.

Like, we don't think much of the fact that the dignitary helping with Fowler's coup is the same one who arranged Akemi's marriage to shogun's son. So when later Akemi brings the girl who overheard Fowler's plan to her father, and we expect to him to dismiss it as some lie Akemi cooked up to avoid marriage and the guy instead goes "Have you told anyone else?", it's both surprising and MAKES SENSE. Of course Akemi's father is part of the coup. Why would the dignitary arrange a marriage and specificly select time of the coup if it wasn't to get them their puppet ruler at hand?

Similiarly when Mizu's mother tells the whole story how she faked her own death to protect Mizu it sounds like a barely strung together excuse but we dismiss it because she's always been an awful mother. We don't think much about it...but then it adds credibility to Fowler's claims this wasn't Mizu's real mother, but a maid who took care of the child "until money ran out".

And of course Fowler talking how he needed his friends bck home to arrange smuggling weapons into Japan AND, once he realizes Mizu already killed one of the four white men, he can tell it had to be Violet...of course it had to be, other two are on the opposite end of the world!

I love how these bits of foreshadowing hide in plain sight and we're basically conditioned to not pay them mind until the other shoe drops.

I’m sooo excited to see Azzi play again lol I was running it bck and watching highlights. I’m not running it bck to that one game lol Azzi was getting me frustrated but u have a good or u have a bad game it happens to the very best. Sarah , Chen, Paige , Azzi Jana and Aubrey somewhere in there, this is just being a mix of people (this is the lineup I hope it comes to) given if Azzi is good to go I could see her being in the starting but I doubt it. Paige didn’t even start when she got bck from injury.

Duo : Paige and Azzi those are the only ones to me that would have that duo chemistry on the court

tip 3- always type your fics on other apps like word or google docs since they have an auto save feature!! i dont reccomend typing your fics on tumblr since one if the app crashes, it doesn't automatically save your work so everything you wrote will get deleted (some versions of tumblr do have autosave, my laptop has it but my phone and iPad doesn't, so i dont rely on it)

tip 4- idk if you want tips on actual fic writing or just how to get your fics onto tumblr but ill help you with that anyway. with me when i write fics i always imagine it out in my head. theres some of my fics where i just went with the flow and wrote wgatever came to mind and those are the fics i hate the most because they dont rlly make sense to me. theyre always so random and it just seems rushed and bad.

i picture my fics like a scene in my head and whatever i want the character to do, think, say or feel i write that shit down asap. i use other online sources to help get more descriptive like the emotion theasurus <- honestly one of my favourite things to use ever, they have so much body language to use for every emotion in the damn book

dialogue is also something i find difficult. i've improved i personally feel like but its still hard for me especially if im writing a new character. i never want to make the character seem OOC so i do lots of research before hand. i normally use the wiki to read up on a characters personality.

for example i'll use ran for this since he's like 99% of my account lmao. in the wiki, he's described as "naturally whimsical toward others which makes him inscrutable" though ran doesnt have many scenes in the manga (which i hate bc i love him sm) its impossible to actually write him down to a tee so i use that naturally whimsical description to make him playful, charismatic, carefree etc, going off what little information i have with him.

getting a characters personality down is what can make or break a dialogue. for me when im reading a fic of a character and their dialogue is so OOC it puts me off and i dont even wanna read. so i apply my same fic icks to myself and think if I don't like seeing this and that in a fic, why would I incorporate those in my fics and have ppl get put off it if they have the same fic icks as me?

tip 5- dont rush yourself at all. i used to rush a few of my fics and i just ended up hating it so much after and fought bck the urge to delete them so many times but then i'd see people's comments and realise i was being too harsh on myself. i'd keep them up but i'd just hate seeing them get attention.

rushing only makes you hate your work and the quality of your work will decline if you are not in the right headspace.

thats also why i have the don't rush me thing in my rules because not only is it annoying to see people constantly asking for updates, it also makes me mad because i know i'll just put out a piece of garbage if i did rush.

also another tip don't give yourself deadlines!! if you know your writing consistency can be a little sloppy, don't tell your followers that you're going to upload every so and so day. if something happens and you miss the deadline, you'll feel bad and rush something out and most times out of ten, a rushed fic doesn't do well. so take your time and don't rush.

tip 6- dont listen to what other people say or feel obligated to write something you don't wanna. establish your boundaries!! for example, from day one i started this blog i said im accepting requests but i will not write anything to do with non-con, incest or minors. i made sure that was out there so i wouldn't feel uncomforable writing anything i wasn't comfy with.

there are people on this app that may like your writing and request you to write something for them. you are not obligated to write anything for anyone! don't feel like you have to just because they asked nicely.

if you want to accept requests you can im not saying you shouldn't, im saying don't feel like you have to. you always have a choice. its your blog.

tip 7- remember this isn't a job. you're allowed to take breaks, allowed to have a personal life. don't feel like you need to be updating every day. i used to think i was obligated to be uploading consistently at least every week because i was obsesssed with engagement and seeing peoples comments and was scared if i took a break ppl will unfollow. now i honestly don't care. i'm not active as much as i used to because of school and that's fine! if ppl want to leave, let them. don't feel like you're forced to keep being active in order to keep your follower count stable.

tip 8- this app can get really toxic sometimes. luckily enough i've only had one toxic anon in my inbox and i've been on this app for a year. some people have so many, some ppl get harrassed etc. if that happens to you just be prepared since there's no actual way to find out who's behind anons. you can turn off your anon options which means if ppl want to inbox you something then their account will be showing. some people arent comfortable with that and that's fine! i keep mine on because i want people to feel comfortable on my page.

just remember though if you ever feel like this app is getting overwhelming take breaks! for the sake of your mental health take breaks. i know so many writers on here that took breaks and came back healthier and stronger.

i feel like this tip goes for social media in general. as much as i love social media im aware how unhealthy it is. breaks are so important for you. remember that.
