Infection Stage 1:

Digital: occasionally causes visuals to distort, audio distortions and various jarring/system noises being produced at random intervals.

Physical: D4LG0N4.EXE cannot physically manifest in this state but the infected user that owns the OS slowly develops symptoms of paranoia, seeing a shadowy figure just in the corner of their vision, hearing talking/whispering with no one else in the room at random intervals, and potentially developing sleep paralysis with D4L using their more vague appearance in this state to their advantage to intimidate

This is the stage they use to form an opinion on the user of the OS they’ve infected

Infection Stage 2

Digital: System is slower than normal, overheats, Bluescreens, but nothing is critical is damaged (yet.), Various files are corrupted, D4L has rendered itself a model and basic speech synthesis program. This is visible to anyone just looking at the screen of the infected device, They will also use said device’s speakers to converse should they feel the need.

“So what’s wrong with it?”

“Sir, this computer is alive.”

Physical: the appearances of D4L’s illusory form is more detailed, but all they are at this point is a one sided illusion. They’ll make you look a *lil bit insane* when holding a conversation with you this way.

User may also begin to develop D4L’s Sigil on the body at this stage but it depends if they want to Kiss you or want to Kill you, (or the secret third option of parasitizing your device until they cause it to self-destruct in which nothing paranormal happens. Sometimes they just don’t care and just want to forward itself to anyone connected to the OS, then eat the OS and die lol 1M461N3 831N6 7H47 80R1N6!)

Infection Stage 3:

Digital: Their synthesis program is capable of emulating any sound it wants, as well a human voice with expression of emotion in it, OS status either remains only slightly damaged at this stage OR gradually gets worse (see Stage 4)

Physical: This is essentially the payload for each copy’s existence, Syncing their digital form with their Target’s warped sense of reality to Physically manifest.
