Who says you have to go out to have a great date? There are tons of fun, free at-home date ideas to choose from, and you and your boo are limiting yourselves if you think you can’t go on a date from the comfort of your couch or your own backyard.
If you need a little inspo, might I recommend deep-stalking Hollywood’s cutest couple, aka Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani? I’ve been rooting for this unlikely duo ever since the dating rumors first started swirling years ago, and after binge-watching the music video for their duet “Happy Anywhere” a few hundred times, I’m totally stealing some of their clever at-home date ideas.
If you haven’t seen the video, it features hi-res shots of both singers crooning to one another in a dreamy field (as all good country music videos should!), but also tons of cute home video footage of Shelton and Stefani just spending time together and being in love. The lyrics “I could be happy anywhere with you” are proved true in the couple’s ability to have just as much fun at home together as they do at fancy-schmancy Hollywood events.
Tumblr media
While I don’t have a celeb boyfriend, I do like the idea of copying some of Shelton and Stefani’s at-home date ideas, none of which require you to be famous and/or musically talented. OK, there’s one scene where the two go fishing at home, and I definitely don’t have a pond in my very small backyard, but I promise the other date ideas are far more accessible. With that, read on for some super-cute, must-try at-home date ideas that will cost you absolutely nothing.
Movie Marathon Night
Tumblr media
If your date nights normally consist of bustling evenings out and about, give yourselves a night off and snuggle up together on the couch! Pick a movie you’ve both never seen before, or do a double feature with each of your favorite films. Consider making it a weekly thing, with a new theme each time to keep it interesting. Don’t forget the blankets, snacks and (of course!) the mood lighting.
Wine Tasting
Tumblr media
Shelton and Stefani both enjoy a cheeky glass of wine at different points in the video, and if you and your partner drink, a wine tasting is a super fun way to get restaurant vibes at home. Grab a few bottles and set up blind taste tests for one another—rank them from best to worst and see if your favorite is actually your favorite.
Karaoke Session
Tumblr media
OK, so Blake and Gwen aren’t singing karaoke—they’re in a real-life music videobut the inspo still stands! You don’t have to be world-famous celebs with incredible voices to turn a karaoke sesh into date night goals! Grab a bottle of wine and get silly performing your fave hits, or team up for iconic duets like “Happy Anywhere.” If you play guitar like Blake, break it out! Bonus points if you create your own TikTok-esque dances to accompany each tune.
Invite Family Over
Tumblr media
The clip of Shelton’s and Stefani’s families all gathered around their table in the music video was probably the cutest moment in the entire thing, TBH. Family time is everything, and your S.O. should agree! Host a family dinner together, big or small, and just enjoy time with the people you love. Who says date night has to be just you two?
Bake Some Sweet Treats
Tumblr media
A lot of people love cooking or baking for their boo, but what about getting your hands dirty in the kitchen together? You don’t have to be pro chefs to get a few cookies in the oven—TBH, I won’t judge you if you use a box mix! If you are a pro in the kitchen, consider whipping up a family recipe and see if it brings you two closer together. The best part? Your kitchen date turns into an instant dinner date as you enjoy whatever you made.
Go For A Walk
Tumblr media
OK, so this doesn’t technically happen in the home, but around it. Make the most of your quiet neighborhood or bustling city block and take a stroll together! Leave the phones at home and just enjoy one another’s company. You might find you have some of your best conversations when you’re walking—it’s a great time to get in sync with one another. Try to plan your walk for a pretty time of day, like sunrise or golden hour.

'The Voice' Recap: Top 11 Revealed
Two artists were eliminated from The Voice season 15 on Tuesday night. The bottom three sang for the Instant Save, but only one could make it through to next week’s Top 11 performances. Coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson had to hope their teams would emerge unscathed, no longer having any control over the results.
The first artists voted through were Team Adam’s Reagan Strange, Team Blake’s Kirk Jay and Team Jennifer’s Kennedy Holmes. Then, Team Kelly’s Chevel Shepherd and Team Blake’s Chris Kroeze also made it through.
Levine then sang Fleetwood Mac’s “Rhiannon” with his team, a song choice that particularly suited Strange. The next artists voted through were Team Adam’s DeAndre Nico, Team Kelly’s Kymberli Joye and Team Jennifer’s MaKenzie Thomas.
Team Kelly then performed the Whitney Houston hit “I Will Always Love You.” The last artists to automatically advance to the Top 11 were Team Blake’s Dave Fenley and Team Kelly’s Sarah Grace.
The bottom three included Team Jennifer’s SandyRedd, Team Kelly’s Lynnea Moorer and Team Adam’s Tyke James. They had to sing for the Instant Save, with only one emerging victorious.
SandyRedd got things started with a performance of “Believer.” She brought strong dynamics and a moving lyrical interpretation to the song.
James was up next, singing “Home.” This time, he didn’t have a ukulele and really just focused on the vocals. It was one of his personal best performances, and he didn’t let nerves get to him.
Moorer closed things out by singing “If I Ain’t Got You,” which was the kind of big show-stopping song choice that these situations call for. She certainly stood out, and it paid off. She secured the Instant Save, and James and SandyRedd were eliminated.
The Top 11 perform next week on NBC.

Had some really weird fucking dreams last night.
The first was that I was at my parents’ house, and the whole family was there for Thanksgiving. I remember grabbing a small plate of a very low variety of food--there wasn’t even turkey??? And thinking to myself that this didn’t feel quite right, but I went along with it anyway. I was still hungry by the time I finished my plate but I didn’t make mention of it. When I got up and everyone was finished eating and my mom started putting away all of the food, however, I noticed that there was an entire long table against the other wall full of more food that I hadn’t even noticed--including turkey and a bunch of other Thanksgiving classics. I panicked because I didn’t even realize any of that food was there, and now dinner was over and my mom was packing everything up so I couldn’t even get any of it. I mean, theoretically I could’ve, I know in reality my mother would never let me starve if she had any say in it, but I didn’t want to sit there alone at a table eating my sad little plate of belated Thanksgiving so I just put up with it. That didn’t mean I wasn’t still hungry, though, nor did it mean that I was happy. I went in the kitchen and for some reason Blake Shelton was there? Which is weird because I give zero fucks about country music whatsoever. But Blake Shelton was there and I demanded he make me ramen. It wasn’t the usual packet of dehydrated instant ramen, but like wads of soft noodles that we had stored in the fridge. He begrudgingly agreed and pulled a wad of noodles from the fridge, dumping them onto what looked like a skillet on the stove? But they made this god-awful squelching sound and smelled terrible and it was clear that they had gone bad. Blake Shelton got really pissy about it which in turn made my hangry ass even more pissed off than I already was. We started getting into a mild argument about it that ended with me shouting at him “NO, I’M ANOREXIC, YOU ASSHOLE!!” and then storming off into the formal living room to kind of just disappear in one of the giant armchairs my parents’ have.
I woke up momentarily after this, but when I went back to sleep, I had yet another dream.
My fiance and I were asleep in my grandparents’ guest room. I remember checking the clock and it read 12:49pm--we had overslept. I think my grandmother may have knocked on the door and asked if we were ever going to get up? But I can’t remember. Either way, I nudged my fiance and told him I was getting up, and he groaned in protest but didn’t do anything about it. When I stepped out of the room, I could see from the hallway that my grandpop (who actually passed away IRL in 2014--tomorrow is actually the anniversary of his death, which I didn’t realize until now, which makes me feel even more freaked out about this) was lounging on the couch, recliner up and covered waist-down by a big white blanket. He had on National Geographic, a favorite of his, where he was watching a show called How To Get Lost in The Woods. I lingered for a moment to check the show out, and it seemed as if it was an informative program about how to identify different types of poisonous plants and how to tell if water is safe to drink and where to find food if you ever get stuck in the woods. I honestly woke up convinced that this was a real show and when I found out it apparently isn’t, I got super disappointed because honestly? It fucking should be. And what made it even worse was that I recognized immediately that it was being narrated by Dave Wittenberg, aka Kakashi. I lingered in the hallway watching until the next commercial break, and the bumper between ad breaks for the show featured pretty nature pictures with the show’s title in white sans-serif font. This particular bumper had a photo that reminded me of the orange flower from the list of default Windows user profile pictures. At this point, I had resolved to take a quick bathroom break and then go back out to watch with my grandpop. I slipped into the bathroom and sat on the toilet but suddenly I had no control of my body, so I sat there staring down at myself for a long minute before shouting out to my fiance and grandfather a harried “...Nevermind, I’m gonna hop in the shower real quick!” And that was kind of the end of that?
But I also remember at one point being in my grandparents’ living room or something? And I was wearing my trusty combat boots, the ones I’ve had since 2015 that probably need to get thrown out by now, to be quite honest. I remember twisting my leg so that I could look at the bottom of my shoe, and the heel was completely gone. Like it wasn’t that just the heel of the shoe had fallen off, it was like it never existed in the first place and there was nothing but a blank space like my heel was invisible or something. And it was super weird and I don’t know what the fuck happened or why that was a thing but I guess it was?

Vanessa & Steven’s Thursday Club Wedding
Vanessa & Steven’s Thursday Club Wedding
Of all the San Diego wedding DJs in the county, Vanessa and Steven chose me to DJ and MC their Thursday Club wedding on Saturday, September 15, 2018.
  THE LOVE STORY
Vanessa & Steven officially met in 2009 at his birthday party. Their first date wasn’t until 2009—Steve took her to Black Angus where she pulled out a coupon to help pay for dinner. Together, they enjoy drinking beer, going to country concerts, hanging out with friends & their turtle Rafael, and going camping. For their honeymoon, they are planning a trip to the Bahamas.
In June 2017, Vanessa & Steven were at a beach house in Puerto Penasco with about 30 friends & family when Steven made a speech welcoming everyone to the house…suddenly he was down on one knee in front of everyone, thanking Vanessa for being at his side.

The Voice Season 13 kicks off on September 25th at 8:00pm EST/7:00pm CST on NBC! Promotional video courtesy of NBC The three-time Emmy Award-winning “The Voice” returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the blockbuster vocal competition show’s new season. Superstar singer, songwriter, actress and pop-culture icon Miley Cyrus returns as a coach this season with Oscar, Grammy, Golden Globe-winning recording artist and Broadway star Jennifer Hudson taking a red chair alongside the show’s returning coaches Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and host Carson Daly. The show’s innovative format features five stages of competition: the first begins with the Blind Auditions, then the Battle Rounds, Knockouts, Playoffs and, finally, the Live Performance Shows. During the Blind Auditions, the decisions from the musician coaches are based solely on voice and not on looks. The coaches hear the artists perform, but they don’t get to see them — thanks to rotating chairs. If a coach is impressed by the artist’s voice, he/she pushes a button to select the artist for his/her team. At this point, the coach’s chair will swivel so that he/she can face the artist he/she has selected. If more than one coach pushes his/her button, the power then shifts to the artists to choose which coach they want to work with. If no coach pushes his/her button, the artist is eliminated from the competition. Once the teams are set, the battle is on. The coaches dedicate themselves to developing their team of artists, giving them advice and sharing the secrets of their success, along with help from their celebrity advisers. During the Battle Rounds, the coaches will pit two of their own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After the vocal battle, the coach must choose which of his/her singers will advance to the next round of competition, while the losing artist is available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach has two steals available during the Battle Rounds. At the end of the Battle Rounds, only the strongest members of each coach’s roster remain and proceed to the Knockout Rounds. Here, the artists will be paired against a teammate once more, but this time they will select their own songs to perform individually while their direct competitor watches and waits. They are vying for their coach’s confidence and decision to take them to the final and crucial round before the live shows, the Playoffs. One superstar universal adviser will be on hand to work with all of the coaches and their teams as they prepare the artists for this challenge. But the coaches alone will choose the winner and the artist not selected will be available to be stolen by another coach. Each coach has one steal available during the Knockout Rounds. In the Playoff Rounds, the top 20 artists will compete to secure a spot in the Live Shows. Artists will perform and the coaches will then select three of their five artists to complete their roster and move on to the final phase of the competition — the Live Shows. In the final live performance phase of the competition, the top 12 artists will compete each week against each other during a live broadcast. The television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. Three artists with the lowest number of votes will be eligible for the “Instant Save.” These artists will each perform a new song that represents why they should earn the save. America will then have the opportunity to save their favorite performer by tweeting out #VoiceSave along with the artist’s name. The singers with the lowest number of votes will be sent home each week. In the end, one will be named “The Voice” and will receive the grand prize of a recording contract.
