I think that roche wouldn’t be super into public displays of affection, but leaning against geralt is just subtle enough to be so so sweet to me. it’s not a big gesture in the grand scheme of things, but people will notice it if they look, and I think it makes it all the more meaningful. “you’re worth the vulnerability of showing that I trust you” or something. I don’t know. these war criminals have me in a chokehold.

It’s weird because Wald’s GR books looks fine. Even though it was also published by UChicago press. I don’t remember if Geroch’s book also had that gnarly type set….

speaking of algebraic QFT, one of the classic references is Bob Wald's Quantum Field Theory in Curved Spacetime and Black Hole Thermodynamics, which is a wonderful read except that it has possibly the ugliest mathematical typesetting I have ever seen. Chicago was experimenting with upright sans-serif maths, and moreover made a terrible choice of script font and \langle and \rangle
