my poor geriatric cat has really bad arthritis and is also slowly losing her eyesight… because of this she moves very slowly and tries to walk as close to the wall as possible to keep from getting lost. that being said, she also loves to stand super close whenever you’re doing something and she leans against your legs; sometimes though, she won’t lean in you and she will just stand directly behind you while you are doing something in the kitchen. just like right now, when i was getting a glass of water in the pitch black and turned around only to trip over her, spilling water all over myself and her as she let out a screech as if it were my fault that she put herself directly behind me in a pitch black kitchen (i feel like a horrible human being and i will never forgive myself)

Husband is gone to a music fest for a few days. I’m changing the bed, spritzing with lavender, climbing in to watch garbage tv with a jug of waterr, and pretending it’s circa 2007 for a couple of quiet hours. I lived alone for a stint without any solid partner in my life and the delight of your own bed shared by no other human is like nothing else.

the four races of TCDF, the petons. kellephi (kelp guys) are kind of like the selkies of petons and they're exceptionally rare in the deep forest. and lichets (being lichen) are of course a cross between myceloan and kellephi. there used to be more of them in the deep forest before the blight.

Life update: adopted a kitten and it made me realize I really do not want kids.

ok so aside from the worrying and depressing fact of having an old and sick cat at home it's kind of almost funny that she is sick in ways that baffle vets. Her bloods are impeccable to a degree that two different vets went "she is over 15???" Her body is fine aside from maybe? Some arthritis? She is getting preventative meds just in case. And yet her brain is doing weird shit BUT NOT EVEN IN A WAY THAT MAKES SENSE TO ANYONE. Three different vets have been involved so far and the ONLY thing we know is "she is blind despite her eyes working perfectly fine so it's a brain issue" and "honestly if i had this kind of vertigo i'd be throwing up in a corner but she seems very eng- DON'T JUMP DOWN THERE!" (*disclaimer: that bout of vertigo went mostly? fully? unclear? away and was most likely IVS)
