This is a fanfic that I started working in...2011 I think. Set sometime between the two Battle Club tournament arcs. Georgia gets caught in a rainstorm while training Pawniard to evolve for the Clubsplosion tournament and seeks shelter against a mountain. She becomes ill but Stephan finds her and brings her back to her campsite, despite her not wanting to.
Just Stephan being a ball of sunshine and Georgia not knowing how to respond to his kindness other than just being rude. I will admit I did intend for this to be a ship fic when I first wrote it but it's strictly friendship now. And it was meant to have more chapters, which I did work on one. But the first is pretty much complete, it'd could probably use a little more, so I'd thought I share. Just because of the severe lack of Stephan fan fiction on the internet.
Maybe I'll upload it to AO3 but for now, I'll leave it here. Thank you for reading~
Loneliness. It was something that the Dragon Buster was greatly used to. Ever since that day she was defeated by a Dragon Master from the Village of Dragons, her life has been like that. She learned on that day that the only one she could truly depend on was herself. She didn’t even trust her own Pokémon fully considering that her first Pokémon abandoned her when she lost to the Dragon Master. This was the beginning of Georgia’s time as a self-proclaimed Dragon Buster.
---
And so she traveled alone, seeking out potential Dragon Masters from the Village of the Dragons in order to defeat them and their Dragon Pokémon. Recently Georgia had met a Dragon Master in training from the Village of Dragons by the name of Iris. Something was definitely different about this one. Not just because she only had a puny Axew as her Dragon Pokémon but for other reasons. The girl had traveled with friends, something that was different from the other Dragon Masters she had encountered.
It was no wonder why she was so behind in her training was what Georgia believed. Friends were distracting her and keeping her from reaching her full potential. However… she seemed happy to be with them. This struck her when she was able to defeat her in a one-on-one battle the last time she met her. Iris did not look disappointed at all at the loss. She simply smiled, picked up her Axew, and walked over to her supportive friends.
This was something that Georgia could not understand. Why look so content after a humiliating loss? Was it because of her companions…? No. That would be impossible.
The day started out normal enough. It was beautiful outside so Georgia left the Pokémon Center she was staying and hiked deep into the woods near the base of a mountain. She had heard of a tournament known as the “Clubspolsion” was coming up quickly and wanted to try and get her Pawniard to evolve before it started.
By the time the Dragon Buster had reached the perfect training spot, clouds had already blanketed the sky. This wouldn’t be enough to stop her training however and she called Pawniard out from her Poké Ball. They trained for about a half an hour before it started to drizzle. Moments after that, a complete down pour started falling from the sky. She certainly could not train Pawniard in this condition and returned her to her Poké Ball.
Georgia ran through the pelting rain drops until she was finally able to find a place to shelter her; a small, rock overhang on the side of a mountain. She had to pull her knees to her chest in order to be completely covered by the overhang and even then the rain splattered on to her as it hit the bedrock.
“This is just great… Just great!” she said to herself. Chills sped up Georgia’s spine feeling the fleeting cold overcome her. Her clothes were drenched and provided little to no warmth in that state. “Ah… ACHOO!” she sneezed. “Oh no… Now I’ve got a cold coming on. Can this get any worse?”
Just then a large bolt of lightning struck just feet away from her causing her to scream in fear. Afterwards she could smell the smoldering ground where the lightning bolt hit.
“Just had to say that didn’t I… ah…. AACHOO!”
If there was one thing that the Dragon Buster hated more than Dragon-types, it was thunder and lightning. She had always feared it ever since she was a little girl. It felt as if she was suffocating and the rattling thunder got louder, like it was closing in on her.
Georgia’s ears then picked up the sound of cantering hooves coming from her left. When she looked up she saw a Zebstrika just a few feet away staring at her. She wasn’t sure if it was interested in the lightning strike or her scream.
“What do you want…?” she said in a pout. The Zebstrika only wiggled its ears then lowered its head a bit in order to sniff her. “Eww, go away! Shoo!”
“Zebstrika, what are you doing?” said a voice.
It was the voice of Zebstrika’s Trainer and soon he came into Georgia’s line of sight. He was a burly kid, probably a little older than she was, with red hair. He carried a large black umbrella to protect himself from the rain. Something seemed familiar about him.
“Why’d you run off like…” The boy trailed off in his words when he spotted the girl hiding under the small overhang. “Oh, hello.”
“Hey…”
“Sorry if my Zebstrika scared you… Say… Don’t I know you from somewhere?”
“I was about to ask the same thing.”
“Wait! Now I remember. You’re that girl who lost to Ash in the Club Battle tournament in the second round.”
That statement stung Georgia’s ego as she was forced to remember the loss, responding to it by hugging her legs tighter to her body.
“Georgia, wasn’t it?” he asked.
“Yes… And you’re the one who lost to that so-called Dragon Master, Iris. Steven, right?”
A twitch of his eye told that the boy was annoyed about yet another person not getting his name right. “The name’s Stephan… But I’ll let it slide this time since it’s been a while and we never really spoke.”
“Joy…” she said with great sarcasm.
“What are you doing out here?”
“I was training my Pawniard when the rain hit. What’s it to you? And why are you out here?”
“We were actually chasing the lightning strikes. They help give Zebstrika an extra boost of electrical power. But the rain came in and we were heading back to camp when Zebstrika ran off to here.”
“Chasing lightning? Are you insane or just stupid… AACHOO!”
“That was some sneeze,” Stephan stated as he crouched. Taking a moment to examine the Dragon Buster, he then said, “You’re soaked to the bone.”
“Thank you, Captain Obvious.”
Another chill was quickly fleeting up Georgia’s spine, causing her to shiver but she tried to hide her discomfort from Stephan. She stared at the ground momentarily before she saw the boy’s hand reach out to her from above.
“You could get really sick if you stay out here like this. Come with me. I have a little place set up not far from here.”
“Hmph. Thanks, but no thanks. I’ll be fine on my own.”
The roar of thunder could be heard in the distance and caused the Dragon Buster to shoot her head up and look around the area, obviously startled and even trembling slightly. Stephan only frowned at the pitiful sight. “I can tell you have a lot of pride. But please, put your pride aside for now and just let me help you.”
Georgia just stared into Stephan’s concerned, blue eyes after that. She couldn’t remember the last time, if ever, someone showed so much worry for her. “Fine…” she mumbled.
The boy smiled and helped the girl to her feet. After she came out from under the overhang, he made sure that his umbrella stayed over her. The trio started to walk in the direction of Stephan’s campsite when Georgia paused after going into a coughing fit.
“This is bad. You shouldn’t be walking in this condition. You can hitch a ride on Zebstrika’s back.”
“Absolutely not. That thing smells like a Trubbish that baked in the sun now that it’s all wet.”
Zebstrika let out a snort and turned his head away, clearly insulted. “Well that wasn’t very nice,” said Stephan. “He was the one that found you after all.”
“I didn’t ask to be found.” She watched as Stephan set the umbrella on the ground momentarily, then proceeded to lift up her by her waist. Immediately she started flailing and kicking. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing!?”
“You’re getting on that Zebstrika whether you like it or not.”
She would have fought harder to resist the help had she had not been in the state she was in. In a few seconds she was side-saddling Zebstrika. The Dragon Buster gave an irritated pout. “You’re really a stubborn one aren’t you?” she hissed.
“I could say the same about you.”
Once more the trio was en route to their destination. Stephan held his umbrella over Georgia’s head on the way. She looked down at him and saw that he had no protection from the relenting rain. His spiky red hair now lied flat against his head.
“You know you’re just going to end up like me if you have nothing to keep you dry.”
“No worries. I’ll be fine. I have a strong immune system. But thanks for your concern,” he said with a smile.
“Don’t flatter yourself. I’m only stating a fact.”
Within a few minutes they arrived at Stephan’s campsite. His shelter was a rather large tent that was pitched underneath a tree.
Georgia sighed at the sight. “This is where you’re staying? You’ve got to be kidding me. How is that flimsy tent going to shelter anyone from this storm?”
“Hey, better than where…you were staying,” he replied while lifting her off Zebstrika. He then pulled out a Poké Ball from his pocket and said, “Return, Zebstrika. Thanks for your help.”
The Dragon Buster began to hug her arms to her body and shivered in an attempt to keep warm; her teeth chattering the entire time. It would seem like there would be no other option than to take shelter in the tent with a boy she was already tired of. Georgia then became startled feeling a hand on her back.
“Let’s get you out of this rain, shall we?” Stephan advised gently.
She only nodded as a response and she was the first to crawl into the tent. The Dragon Buster was surprised at how spacious the tent actually was. Maybe it wouldn’t be impossible for her to have some sort of personal space. The bottom of the tent was covered in soft, down comforter made for a king size bed. She quickly crawled to a corner just before Stephan crawled in himself.
“Welcome to my humble abode,” he chirped with bride.
“Quite a lot a room in here just for one person.”
“Yeah well, as you can see, I’m a big guy. And big guys like to have a lotta space.”
“Uh huh…” Georgia said while ungraciously wiping the mucus running from her nose with her hand.
The young man reached for his backpack and pulled out a few towels. He tossed a few of them to the Dragon Buster so she could dry herself off a bit. First, she removed gloves then her hat, which the rain pretty much soaked right through, so she could dry her hair with the towel. Stephan was doing the same on the opposite side of the tent. The loud pitter patter of the rain could be heard outside.
“What a down pour,” the boy stated as he rested the towel on the back of his neck. “Hope it doesn’t stay this way for too long.”
“You and me both,” replied Georgia. “I have to get back to training so I can become the greatest Dragon Bust… ahh… AAHHCCHOO! Meh…”
“Well before that, you should take care of that cold.”
“It’s nothing you need to concern yourself with. This is only the sniffles.”
With a flannel blanket in hand, Stephan crawled over to his guest. Seeing him approach, Georgia raised an eyebrow. Once he was close enough, he attempted to put a hand on her forehead but she resisted it.
“Hey!” she shouted. “Back off, Steven!”
“Will you relax? I just want to see if you’re running a fever. And it’s Stephan, by the way.”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I wasn’t aware you were a doctor,” she said with voice dripping with sarcasm.
During her ranting, Stephan managed to stamp his hand on the Dragon Buster’s forehead. She grabbed hold of his arm trying to push his hand away. He was very strong but at the same time he was not applying too much force. A few seconds passed by and he removed his hand from her forehead then placed it on his own to compare temperatures.
Soon after that, Georgia punched him in the arm. “Don’t you dare touch me again. You hear me!?”
“Fine,” he replied while rubbing his arm. “But you do have a temperature.” Stephan placed the folded-up flannel blanket near Georgia’s legs then turned around back to his side of the tent. The girl sucked up her pride and unfolded the blanket. She bundled herself in it and tried to suppress her shivering. “Nice right hook you got, by the way,” he complimented with a wink.
That only frustrated the Dragon Buster even more, for some reason. “Ugh, doesn’t anything make you mad?”
“Hm, nope. I’m pretty chill. ‘Cept when people get my name wrong…”
Georgia gained a heavy smirk and narrowed her gaze. “Stuvan…Stelios…”
“You’re literally doing that on purpose, so it’s not going to work. Nice try though.”
The two stayed to their sides of the tent, Georgia tying to huddle in a little ball in the corner while Stephan removed his shoes and put them to the side. There was a bit of water inside them from the rain. Georgia happened to glance and his direction while he did that and figured she should probably get her boots of as well. They didn’t have nearly as much water in them due to being boots but her socks were still damp so she removed them.
Things were awkwardly quiet for a while until the boy tried to spark a conversation.
“So, what were you training for? Anything in particular or was it just general training?”
“Don’t see how it’s any of your business…” she remarked and then sniffed up some mucus. “But if you must know, I’m trying to get Pawniard to evolve. There’s this thing coming up called the Clubsplosion and I want her to be a Bisharp by then.”
Stephan’s eyes lit up at the mentioning of the Clubsplosion. “You’re entering? So am I! Me and Sawk have been training really hard every day. But we still have a lot more to do. I’m trying to teach him Low Sweep to deal with faster opponents and it’s going pretty well.”
An answer to a question she didn’t ask. Georgia suppressed the urge to groan while he kept talking. She had acutely regretted ever sharing. If only he had an off switch.
“Gotta say, that’s pretty gutsy of you to enter with a Dark and Steel-type. Lots of the competitors will probably enter with Fighting-types like me.”
“If it’s not a Dragon-type, I don’t particularly care. Out of all my Pokémon, Bisharp would be best suited for the hand-to-hand combat style of the tournament with its high physical attack stat.”
The redhead nodded with agreement. “High attack power Pokémon are my favorites. Speed is also important. To hit hard with blinding speed…it’s a total rush, isn’t it?”
Georgia gazed on with mild curiosity. “Defense is also an important factor, you know?”
“You know what they say: ‘A good offense is a good defense’...or something like that. You saw the thing I did to Emolga’s Attract, right?”
Truthfully, she remembered it well. She got great satisfaction seeing someone finally put a stop to Iris’ cheap tricks. But she wasn’t about to give Stephan any praise. He still lost so none of it really mattered. In fact, she believed it was time he received some harsh criticism.
“Oh yeah, now I remember. How you needlessly kept dropping Sawk’s defenses by spamming Close Combat. That’s how you lost. Which is why I say…defenses are important. And it’s really dumb to hit a Pokémon with Static with a physical move.”
That was surely going to rile him up. But he looked towards the top of tent in deep thought, like he was working something out in his head. He scratched at his chin. “So you're saying. maybe a special move would have worked better?”
Georgia shifted uncomfortably were she sat, sniffling. “Well, duh. Obviously. Like…you can teach Sawk Focus Blast. So you don't have to hit opponents directly. Or just get another Sawk with the rare ability Mold Breaker. Clearly yours doesn’t have it…”
Stephan merely blew a raspberry. “Yeah right. Sawk’s one of my best buds! The greatest one to ever exist. I’m not getting a new one. We’ll find a way around it, later. But thanks for the advice anyway.”
It was said without an ounce of sarcasm in his voice, something Georgia wasn’t used to when talking to others. He seemed genuinely appreciative of her criticisms, seeing it as advice rather. Or maybe he was just too dense to realize it. None of it mattered really. The sooner she got better, the sooner she could part ways with him and get back to training.
Friends were a letdown anyway…right?

Hii. What would a typical get together for Georgia and Burgundy look like in your mind ?
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
I personally think it's either meeting at a coffee shop to sip tea and spill it, go at different places the other likes (fancy restaurants for Burgundy and maybe watching an action movie for Georgia?) and, finally, the ultimate sleepover where the two, in the enclosure of an appartment, gossip even harder than before while painting each other's nails (and eat a gallon of ice cream). Nice little girl's night, chilling while occasionally making passive aggressive jabs at each other (which they don't actually mean <3)

GEORGIA SHOOTERS FATHER CHARGED WITH MANSLAUGHTER AND OTHER CHARGES—NARRATIVE FALLS APART FOR GUN CONTROLLERS!!!!
Let me write something first before I send the YouTube.com video made by Langley Outdoors to explain it. First this is my opinion only. Here I go…. Gun controller narrative falling apart. It is really something how Democrats only care about children except when they are outside the womb, but use abortion to kill more minority children in the womb. Sick & deranged with these Democrat politicians…

So the pokemon fandom appears to have a weird obsession drawing Langley/Georgia with her panties or underwear being shown. This one is not so much anymore but the fandom also liked making NSFW fanart of Langley/Georgia featuring her completely naked or her doing suggestive or sexual activity with other characters, most often times Iris and Bel/Bianca. While I think Georgia is very good looking, I think sexualizing her like this is disgusting since the last time I checked, Georgia is a minor!!

"Match, set, and game" for the prompts!
This one sentence prompt has been in my ask box forever, and long before this AU was born. But now, it fits perfectly.
Part of the heartbreaking Dany/bad!Peyton-AU with @wildfae-afterdark ; Geoff and Peyton are their characters.
[Just A Fling Masterlist]
Content / warnings: vaguely implied past noncon (m/f), past noncon drugging, vibes of abusive relationship and date rape, survivor struggling to cope.
"Game, Set and Match."
Grinning, Dany drops her racket, and bumps Dennis' fists.
It's a beautiful day, the sun's shining over the lush grounds of the tennis club, filled with cheers and idle chatter, and both Dennis and her are in great shape.
"Langley/Hammond qualify for the quarter finals."
They do the obligatory handshakes with the losing team, and Dany fixes her ponytail before she grabs their water bottles.
"Watch the other match?" Dennis asks. "Check the competition? They're still at it. Not everyone can win to zero."
Dany takes a swig from the bottle and shrugs. "Sure, why not."
It's not really necessary in a tournament like the Fitzwilliam Memorial Trophy, that's more of a societal summer event than a sports challenge- their only true challenge are Sita and Sanjay and they've been drawn into another bracket entirely.
"Who is it?"
"Kim/Carter vs Cortlandt/Cortlandt."
"Cortlandt?" The water tastes foul somehow, and Dany sets down the bottle. Her stomach feels queasy.
"Yeah." Dennis looks at the names on the draw and then down at the other court with a shrug. "Geoff and Liza. Cousins. They're not horrible, I guess. Not a threat, either."
"I, uh." Dany looks at the players and trails off. Geoff Cortlandt moves with long, measured strides, his game not focused on speed, but rather on a precise strength. It makes her shiver.
She reaches out to steady herself on the railing.
"Dany?"
She doesn't look at Dennis, can't, when Geoff picks up the ball to serve and bounces it once. For a moment, his gaze flits over the audience and settles on her.
His lips twitch into a slim grin, and then he turns back to the court, tosses the ball into the air and slams it over the net with impossible force, unreachable for Stevie Kim.
"Dany?" Dennis repeats. "What was that? You're having history with Cortlandt?"
She forces herself to breathe, slowly shakes her head. "Just an acquaintance. Met him a handful of times. I, uh. I just don't like him."
Dennis chuckles. "Yea, nobody really does. Only ones who can stand him are that weird little cult around him and Peyt-" He trails off and clicks his tongue. "Oh. That's how you know him, huh? You still seeing Montgomery?"
"No." Dany exhales softly, not bothering up to ask him how he knows. Rumours travel fast, in their circles. "It's over." It's over. They haven't seen each other since that gala. Peyton had left the very same night, set off to Georgia.
With Geoff.
Seems they're back.
"But you're good?"
"Sure am." She chuckles darkly, almost in reflex. "I won't let a fling affect my mood."
If she'd look, she knows she'd see that Dennis doesn't believe her. But she doesn't look.
She can't take her eyes off of Geoff. There's something about him, something deeply unsettling, something that makes her sure if she looks away just once he'll show up right in front of her, and he'll grab her head and-
She shakes her head. Ghosts. He's getting into her head, she needs to focus on the tournament, nothing else.
Like Dennis, who's mumbling into her ear about their techniques and weaknesses, about tactics and strategy.
She can't listen. She's trapped.
And she knows that he knows. If anything, it makes him play better. They make the next point, too, and the next.
"Match, set and game."
"Cortlandt/Cortlandt qualify for the quarterfinal."
Before even congratulating his partner, Geoff's gaze locks with Dany's again. He moves his hand, a slow gesture, as if he's holding a champagne glass.
"Showoff," Dennis next to her groans. "He's not even half your level."
Geoff raises his imaginary glass to a toast, and Dany's legs give in.
It's only Dennis' quick reaction that keeps her from falling. Dennis' arm around her waist. Like Peyton's, when Geoff had toasted to her at the gala. Like Peyton's, later, when her mind was foggy and they were somewhere darker, more private.
But not alone.
They hadn't been alone.
Geoff Cortlandt had been there.
"Withdraw." She staggers back to her feet and shoves Dennis' hand off her. "We withdraw. I... No. No. I can't. Not that."
"What?" Dennis steps back to stare at her in disbelief. Behind him, the players leave the court and walk up the stairs.
She spins on her heel and flees towards the bathrooms.
*
She's thrown up twice. It helps, to deal with her body, not her mind. It helps to think about what's real. She cleans up her face, straightens her hair in front of the mirror, trying not to think too much about the other time she's tried to fixed herself up from a messed up state.
At least the shadows have a face now.
I'm sorry, she texts Dennis.
We need to talk, she texts Peyton.
Then, she throws in a breath mint and goes find Geoff Cortlandt.
*
He's seated in the player's lounge at a corner table, scrolling through his phone, his face still a little flushed from the game. His eyebrows shoot up when he sees her, but the short hint of surprise shifts into an easy smirk. "Ms Hammond. Too sick to play, I heard? Still hungover from that gala, where we've run into each other?"
Dany's jaw tightens. "What did you do?"
He laughs a little, leans closer like they're best friends. "What did we do? Nothing you didn't beg for, princess. You still can't remember? I guess the tabloids were right about your partying reputation."
She should've sat down as well. Her knees threaten to give in again. And somehow it's not the pet name, not the insinuation, not the humiliation that hurts her most.
It's the 'we'.
"I had a tox screen made." Her voice is slow, but firm. She's a negotiatior, after all. She can keep her voice steady, even when everything is pulled away from underneath her. "I'm sure you know how it came back. It was you, wasn't it? It was you, who spiked my drink."
He looks at her, hooded eyes flat and suddenly unamused. "Whatever you took that night is none of my business. I had enough to do keeping my friend out of your clutches."
She feels dizzy, and yet, weirdly relieved. The ghosts, the nightmares, the faceless void they've manifested into something real. She's still lost at sea, but she's been drowning before, and now she's broken through the surface, she can breathe again. Breathe, and fight.
"That's why?" She stares at him. "You drugged me and you fucked me and you left me like trash, because you felt threatened?" A wild giggle escapes her throat. "Oh. Wow. What a pathetic little man you are. Go fuck yourself, Mr Cortlandt. Or go fuck Peyton, for all I care. But guess what? I fucked him better."
Anger flares up in his gaze, his muscles tense, his weight shifts to the edge of his seat - but instead of attacking her, his lips bend into a fake, calm smile.
"Who we fuck isn't your business any more, Ms Hammond. My game is up. Gotta win a tournament." He gets up and brushes over the front of his pristinely white shirt. "Have a good day."
Dany stares past him as he leaves, counts her breaths to twenty to calm her racing heartbeat.
Then she calls her driver.
She needs to know.
She needs to see Peyton.

1, 3, 14, and 20 for Georgia/Langley from Pokemon!! Btw, thank you for sending me Burgundy on this character ask game. <3
1. Why do you like or dislike this character?
I LOVE Georgia. Similar to Burgundy, I love how snarky she is and how much she’s willing to push her rival for a fair fight (Pokémon battle-wise). I think she has a really cool and unique design too and I’m glad she appeared in every Don George tournament alongside a few other episodes!
3. Least favorite canon thing about this character?
Literally the fact that we got so few episodes with her- similar to Cilan and Burgundy, I wish her rivalry with Iris had been fleshed out a lot more. I also wish we’d gotten to see more battles between her and Iris, perhaps her and Burgundy, and others.
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character.
Oh gosh…maybe like…a mix of grunge, cyberpunk, Y2K but also like soft indie? Georgia’s canon outfit is pretty cute in general with the newsboy cap, so I can see her pulling off pretty much anything. I definitely see her being on the sportier side of things though, and not being one for too many frills or feminine touches, which is more Burgundy’s speed.
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Obviously, Burgundy is the first person that comes to mind, since they’ve had so much screentime together and are often seen making commentary together on the sidelines. Other than Burgundy, I also see her developing a really strong frenemy-ship with Iris (mainly because I headcanon that Georgia will eventually be one of Iris’s Elite 4). Other strong friendships I see include Trip (whom I ship Georgia romantically with, alongside Iris and Burgundy) and the other rivals from the Don George tournaments (Bianca, Stephan, etc.) In general, I see that group of rivals remaining very close and continuing to enter tournaments and hang out outside of Pokémon-related festivities.

What the Best Wishes! rivals eat, since not everyone is privileged to travel with a personal chef.
Now properly scanned, in good quality!)
*Burgundy was doodled on a separate paper (most notably: Kalosian sweets and grape juice).
[The Trip one is based on an old rp with a friend’s Nurse Joy; Trip only got convenience store sandwiches since starting his journey until Nurse Joy made him one herself (which he was touched by)—he didn’t know how to cut his own vegetables until she taught him, something like Professor Burnet and Lillie + Kayo getting a lovingly made, home-cooked meal in ERASED. ;3;]

The Dragon Master and the Dragon Buster
Looking back on Best Wishes lately and just felt the urge to sing the praises of the rivalry between Iris and Georgia/Langley, because it does exactly what a good rivalry should do: develop both characters and push them further in their goals. They actually help each other.
Tumblr media
Georgia first helps Iris when she shows up and provides her with an annoying opponent she really wants to defeat, only to fail due to Excadrill not listening to her, which is the push she needed to stop beating around the bush and directly delve into what Excadrill’s problem is.
Tumblr media
Once Iris and Excadrill have sorted out their issues, Iris ends up helping Georgia by drawing with her in their rematch. Despite Georgia having told Iris to “be a bit stronger the next time we meet”, Georgia is so egotistical that she didn’t actually consider “a bit stronger” actually affecting the outcome of their rematch.  While she remains arrogant, she’s never this stupidly arrogant afterward, not taking it as a given that she’ll win and fighting more strategically.
Tumblr media
After Iris wins the Don Battle, Georgia stops seeing her as just some upstart in over her head and begins to treat her like a legitimate rival, showing her some respect and telling her that she wants her to become a Dragon Master because defeating her would be worth more then.
Tumblr media
After Georgia displays in the Donamite that she can indeed “bust dragons” and has skill to back up her endless boasting, Iris begins taking her more seriously as a rival, motivated to defeat her for the sake of the challenge rather than just because she gets on her nerves.
Tumblr media
Teaming up with Georgia’s Vanilluxe is what helps Iris overcome her fear of Ice-type Pokemon, which existed because she was so empathetic and in tune with Dragon-types and is now resolved as she extends her empathy toward Vanilluxe in spite of it being an Ice-type and one of her rival’s Pokemon, which is a great display of Best Wishes’ core theme as well.
Tumblr media
Georgia is also helped by this event, as she had been seeking to somehow change her Vanilluxe’s friendly-toward-Dragon-types personality only to see that even with a Dragon trainer teamed with it, its power was brought out in full, and on top of that Iris thanking her (using Vanilluxe as a proxy) makes her reconsider how she views Dragon-types and trainers. Maybe she also realizes she’s falling in love with Iris, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if so.
Tumblr media
In the Junior Cup, Iris defeats Georgia in the first round...but through none of her own efforts, as her freshly caught Dragonite insists on fighting battles his way without any input from her. As far as he’s concerned, she’s a glorified Taxi service to take him to strong opponents. Georgia calls Iris out on how unbecoming of a Dragon Master this is, and Iris really takes these words to heart and tries to fix this in the next rounds, but to no avail...yet, anyway.
Tumblr media
At the tournament’s end, we see that Georgia was also helped by the battle, since it made her realize that for all her efforts at making Beartic into a physical powerhouse, it didn’t mean much if its defenses were low while another Pokemon like Dragonite’s were high. As such, she playfully notes that she’s going to “start powering up from scratch”, just as she should.
Executive interference with the show’s final year sadly meant we were robbed of Georgia’s send-off episode, which I personally think would have revealed her to have a Dragon-type on her team now. Using a Dragon to bust Dragons; it just feels like the natural endpoint to her development and experiences with Iris. Thankfully, Journeys was able to save things, as it showed that Iris became both Opelucid Gym Leader and the Champion of the Unova League. And when she makes it to the Masters Eight and faces Cynthia, we see Georgia front and center at the Battle Club where the battle is being broadcast, and her face just says it all.
Tumblr media
She’s so proud of Iris, proud that she gets to have someone like this as her rival, to have bragging rights that this girl was helped along on her path to greatness by her, and to be perpetually motivated to keep growing stronger in the hopes of someday defeating her...an achievement that would now be an even more satisfying one than it had ever been before.
Best Wishes’ Best Rivals, definitely.

We never really get Langley's backstory beyond her suffering an apparently humiliating defeat against a Dragon type trainer and devoting herself to defeating Dragons and she can be very childish (she fully embraces the fact that she's a child, which makes Iris' "you're such a child~" barb rather useless against her), but judging by her very intense reaction to Outrage, I'm assuming that was involved in that battle...
It looked a little scary on Kibago/Axew and how out of control the baby looked after, still trying to fight in its confusion, imagine a fully evolved Dragon thrashing around like that............
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Maybe that's why she disliked Dragon types, she found them frightening?
In a way, it reminds me of how Alain (and, implicitly, Mairin too) were traumatized by the Draco Meteor from that incident in Act III with Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza... Alain got hurt protecting Mairin that time, too...

@kalosstarters these are relevant to both your interests!!!!
Unfortunately, the PokeAni zine I was a part of (Type Wild!) got cancelled recently so here are 2/3 pieces I completed for it! (more infos under cut)
First the print: the BW female rivals (featuring Trip) just chilling at a café. (Trip is paying) (he doesn't know that) (Burgundy's whole reaction is just "cry harder rich boy" tbh)
Tumblr media
Second: A cute Sycamore found fam sticker! I make these four lil guys rotate in my brain like rotisserie chicken. They're important to me <3 I wanted to add a quote to it from the French lyrics of the XY game credits but decided against it last minute. The ones I thought about were: "Laissons donc s'épanouir les fleurs de la bonté." The whole song fits perfectly but I think this particular line is simple, short and fit the vibe I wanted.
Tumblr media
The whole team was absolutely lovely and I keep staring at the art/writing created by the talented creators composing said team and like... I don't know man, I just love everything we created. Really sad that we had to cancel but that's just how the cookie crumbles sometimes.
I finished 2 different pieces out of 3 for Type Wild!. Those 2 were meant to be merch (a print & a sticker). The last piece was a page artwork which I shall complete in my own time and post whenever it's done (pss pss it's XYZ related)
Thanks again to Mimo and Null for inviting me onto this project. It was really fun and I loved being able to see so many talented people's creative process. You guys all rock <3

Allison Langley had to have been the most put together woman her small town had ever produced. She was head of the PTA, an upstanding member of the neighborhood watch, her children had high GPA’s, her husband owned his own (successful) business, her home was beautiful. Yet, the image she painted for other people seldom matched reality, it was completely abstract. The perfect parts of her life clumped together to create a pretty picture, nothing more. Deeply unfulfilled, Allison found herself in a loveless marriage, with disrespectful children who expected the world of her, and a dollhouse home for her to clean and cook in for the rest of her life. It was why she took great enjoyment in the little things. The little thing at present, had been Dex Lawson, the younger man currently working in her garden. Of course, she wouldn’t act on her affections, but thinking about it couldn’t hurt, right? He was ridiculously handsome, and always so polite, with an ass she just wanted to dig her teeth into. The redhead had prepared a fresh jug of lemonade to bring her eye candy, and perhaps spent a little bit of time sprucing herself up too. There was no harm in looking nice, after all. A silky coverup barely concealed the bikini that clung to her curves, sunglasses propped back on top of her head as her gaze immediately sought him out. “Oof, it’s hotter than a Georgia asphalt out here. You poor thing, slaving away in this heat. Come and have something to drink? I can get you a nice cold beer if you prefer.” Her smile was sweet, and more flirtatious than it should have been, but what her husband didn’t know wouldn’t kill him. Not that she was sure he’d even care. Dex made her feel...Sexy, and she seldom felt that about herself anymore. So, sue her.
