You Donât Care About Palestine and I Can Prove It (pt 2)
âAhah! Mask off Zionist moment!â âSecret conservative!â âYou admit that you just donât care if Palestinians die!â
Got that out of your system? Good. Because my hatred for the modern left is only out done by my hatred of the modern right.
I care a great deal more than you probably do about dead Palestinians and thatâs exactly what Iâm here to prove. That all the people shouting âZionist scumâ arenât the heroes they think they are. I donât justify the actions of Israelâs government but weâll get to that when Iâm done explaining how stupid you are.
In part one I explored how the modern western left is completely ignorant on the complexities of one of the most complicated geo political issues of our time.
Now letâs talk about how they just donât even understand conflict. Or war. Or militaries. Or propaganda.
On Oct 7th 2023 Hamas terrorists attacked, raped, and killed in excess of 1200 civilians. That happened. They took civilian hostages.
No government on EARTH would allow itself to be attacked and not retaliate. No government on EARTH wouldnât demand hostages back. No military on EARTH would allow ceasefire before it had them back. Any of you old enough to recall 9/11 should damn well know that.
Guess what kiddos? War is hell. When war happens when armed conflict begins civilians always die. Often in great numbers.
Do you think Allied bombs in WWII had special civilian avoiding technology? Do you think the ârape of Berlinâ is a quirky name? Do you think our drone strikes care if they hit a school?
âWell it SHOULDNT be okay!â I hear you yell.
Excellent! Fantastic! I couldnât agree more! War is bad. It is started by violent men far away from the fighting and enacted on the bodies of women and children and the boys we send to tear each other apart.
Now that we agree civilian casualties are bad and war is also bad I have two questions.
1) please present your plan for a peaceful alternative to war that doesnât result in the peaceful nation state being instantly annihilated by less peaceful states and submit it to get your Nobel Peace Prize
2) ask yourself why the first time youâve ever cared even a tiny bit about the consequences of terrorism and war is when it involves the worlds only Jewish country?
Because if what bothered you was civilian casualties youâd be equally appalled at Hamas. If dead babies made you sad youâd post more than incidentally about all the deaths caused by your own western countries.
âWhat Israel is doing is wrong!â
YES.
War is terrible. It is awful and I donât condone it. Every military on earth exists to kill and destroy. Every military since our ancestors learned to hit each other with sharp rocks has existed to kill babies and set homes on fire and rape and pillage. They do it while laughing.
But you didnât care before Jews did it back.
You want ethical war like you want ethical porn and ethical meat. You want something that only exists as horrible and exploitative made palatable to your sensibilities.
You want a ceasefire but have no plans for how to get back hostages. You want to dismantle Israel but you donât know how to do it or what the consequences would be.
You know about nothing and care about nothing until it is trendy. Then you swap out your Ukrainian flags for Palestinian flags and buy pride flags made in sweat shops. And when the dopamine hits stop and Palestine needs to rebuild? When the ceasefire comes and the hard work starts you will lose interest like you always do.

Good morning, himasgod-sama. Since I'm out of King Deshret brainrot currently, there's a Rex Lapis request. Soulmate Mark AU where the mark is a picture that hints to who the soulmate is.
It is common knowledge in Teyvat that everyone gains a soulmate mark sometime in their lifetimes, even the Gods.
'Love is selfish. One must be ruthless to get what you want. It is for the Greater Good that everyone sees the rulers of the Guili Assembly are of one heart.' Guizhong repeats the mantra in her head as she re-casts the illusion over her own Soulmate Mark so that it matches Rex Lapis' Mark; she was so insistent that the Lord of Geo is her One True Love, she had been so anguish when she found out that Morax's Mark didn't match hers. So, in complete disregard of whatever possible heartbreak her actions would cause Rex Lapis' real Soulmate, she disguises her Mark to match the Geo Lord's.
Her deception only comes to light after her death and her illusion spell dispels. In a rage, Morax proceeds to erase any memories of love he ever had for Guizhong. Seeking his real Soulmate, aka Adepti!Reader, out, he eventually locates her, working alongside the Herblord to create medicines to alleviate the Yakshas' karmic debt. Approaching Adepti!Reader to make amends, he was met by her cold, cynic disregard of his advances; his casual dismissal of her and continuous shielding for Guizhong from any consequences had cooled any affections she ever had for him.
Centuries later, after Xiao confides to the Traveler that he desires a reconciliation between his two paternal figures, the Traveler concocts a plan to bring Zhongli and Adepti!Reader together during the Moonchase Festival.
GOOD AFTERNOON SAILOR I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT, A VERY GOOD IDEA. I'M ALREADY THINKING ABOUT HOW TO DO IT LOL. SO MANY IDEAS CROSSING MY MIND.
Ok, it will be released around December 17th, I estimate!
Yours,
hima <3

I have a request! So Reader is curious about what Zhongli was like during the Archon war so Zhongli gives them a dream (With consent of course) where they meet Morax and reader gets fucked by him. Also Zhongli is watching too. If he manifests in the dream to join in or not is up to you.
This was the hardest fic I wrote so far because I had to think if I'd go for two dicks Zhongli or not. So anon, and everyone else, please suspend your disbelief in this fic. Yeah 4 cocks might be too much for one hole but listen as the new adage says "If there's a hole, there's a way!"
Sweet Dreams Are Made of This
Summary: A simple question borne out of curiosity leads you to experience a side of Zhongli that no historian had never even thought of.
It started from an innocuous question, one borne from curiosity and genuine desire to know more about him.
âWhat were you like, during the Archon Wars?â You had asked, the midday sun shining brightly through the bamboo leaves on the roads of Qingce.
Your hair fluttered in the soft winds, your silver bell tinkling with each step you took as it fluttered from the sides of your sash.
âUnpleasantâ He had answered after a beat, he stopped observing you and looked forward, blankly staring at the road as he remembered the way he was.
Just as cold and as unfeeling as the rocks he had come from.
âHmmmâŠâ
Your curious tone became on the receiving end of his inquisitive look. You smiled at him, gentle and just shy of being embarrassed, âI think, you would have no patience for my usual antics. Had you been unfortunate enough to have met me then.â
âPerhaps,â Zhongli agreed but silently he thought, âI would have still come to like you.â
You laughed at his agreement, oblivious to his silent thoughts, âAh~ but I feel like I would have so much fun teasing the version of you during the Archon Wars.â
âI bet you were so uptight during that time, like a stick in the mud!â You continued in playful banter, âIâd probably be the first person whoâd get you so mad youâd be red in the face!â
Zhongli found amusement in the triumphant tone you held, your tone just as excited as it was when sharing theories with Miss Alice. Zhongli found comfort in that, the knowledge that even at his most scariest, and most unpleasant point in his life, you would be fond of him.
âZhongli, do you think that if we met back then weâd be as close as we are now?â You asked him, âpersonally, I think that we wouldnât be. I donât think I would have been able to survive the aftermath of the Archon Wars.â
Zhongli paused in his walking, his joy washed away in your rationality.
âWhat makes you so sure of it?â He asked, âI would have protected you.â
You gave him a soft smile, âWe wouldnât have gotten along, I would probably punch you in the face. And then youâd get mad for the disrespect.â
Your laughter rang in his ears, as if mocking his sentiments even if he knew that your words held a modicum of truth in it. Back then, he had no qualms on dirtying his hands, no matter how gentle he tried to be, he never wavered in face of difficult decisions, always choosing the best option that would lead to victory.
How would he have reacted to you, who fought and found answers beyond what was given, always seeking a third option that would ensure a happy end. You were not meant for war, your ideals and kindness would have no place in those cruel times.
Even so, Zhongli wanted to prove you wrong.
âThen, shall we place a bet?â
âA bet?â You asked, eyes glinting in anticipation of a boon.
âYes. I shall give you a dream, of sorts, that can transcend through time.â
âOoooh~! Another one of those adepti arts, I presume?â
âYes. I would let you meet the version of me before the height of the Archon Warsâ Zhongli began to explain, âthen if we manage to be as close as we are now, I have won the bet. If that version of me ends up loathing you, I acquiesce to your belief.â
âAnd what do I get if I win?â You asked.
âWhatever you wish forâ He answered, eyes shining bright like cor lapis.
âDeal.â
--
The golden leaves of the gingko trees fluttered as it fell down to the ground. Morax sat on one of the edges on the numerous outcrops of Qingyun Peak. It was a rare moment of peace, there was no imminent danger that needed to be quelled. Liyue was in momentary peace. He sighed and let himself relax, enjoying the solitude up until he heard the soft sound of someone landing nearby.
In an instant he appeared before a human who wore strange clothing. He pointed his spear at them, âSpeak, why do you trespass on the grounds of the Adepti?â
âHuh?â You blinked at him, slowly getting up as you patted the grass and dust off your clothes, âDamn, Zhongli wasnât really kidding when he said you were too wounded up.â
Morax frowned at your impudence, âMortal, that is not the way to speak to the Prime Adep-â
You raised your arm towards him, interrupting him as you offered, âOsmanthus wine! Iâll share it with you if you donât get mad at me!â
Your wide smile, warm and inviting made him uneasy. An unknown feeling bursting in his chest as he stared into glinting eyes.
âImpudentâ He said before moving to capture you and bring you down the mountain.
Despite moving at a speed impossible for a human to match, you had effortlessly evaded his hands. Your laughter rang loudly in the open field, teasing and amused. Zhongli frowned and quickly gave chase and yet you eluded him, teasing him by purposely letting him almost grab the hem of your sleeves only to speed up at the last possible second before appearing far away from him in another direction.
Frustration building up, Zhongli decided to use his geo to block your path, slowly studying your moves so as to anticipate where you would move. It went on and on, erecting stone steeles to block your path until you were caged and nowhere to run.
âUwaa~â You panted, a mild tone of complaint seeping into your voiceâHow come you canât even have tenderhearted feelings for this weak human?â
Morax frowned at your blatant lies, âNo human would be able to match the speed and energy of an adepti the way you do.â
You gave him an amused smile, sweat dripping down your face, âThat youâve met. Have you ever made it out of Liyue?â
Morax didnât answer, stony gaze boring down on you.
âAiya~ what a tough crowdâŠâ You trailed off and yet the smile on your face never wavered, âbut if you keep up such an attitude towards me~ Iâll win the bet and have an adepti answer my whim~â
âWhat tricks have you done, mortal!â Morax pointed his spear at your throat.
Your smug look never wavered, âAhahaha, I did no tricks Lord Adeptus~â
âLies!â He denounced, âWhat sort of charm did you use to seduce one of my own?!â
âSeduce?â You blinked at him owlishly before a wide grin broke out on your face, âOh, oh! You think Iâm seductive?â
You pushed his spear away, sauntered to him, pressing your chest close to his, arms wrapping on his neck. With a voice dripping in honey and seduction, you whispered in his ear, âDoes Lord Adeptus find me pleasing to his taste? Would you like to have a taste of me?â
Your lips moved to his exposed thoat, kissing the apple of it. Morax felt some sort of stirring within him, convinced that you had placed him in a trap, he pushed you off unconsciously gentle with his grip, âWhat sort of spell have you casted?!â
Your laughter, soft and oddly fond, made him uncomfortable. A feeling that he could not name settling in his bones. His chest was warm as he stared on the way the soft afternoon light shone on you, casting you in warm orange light as you laughed uncontrollably.
âNo spell, just utterly charming in your eyesâ You answered, fluttering your eyelids and gracing him with a smile he often found among the numerous brothels on Chihu Rock.
âShameless!â He admonished as he took out a talisman and withit binded you.
âOh~ How kinky~â You said with amusement as if you felt no danger.
âFoolish mortalâ Morax thought privately as he pulled you along to begin the trek down the mountain only to stumble upon your next words.
âDoes Lord Adeptus plan to have his wicked way with me then? Bring me somewhere secluded and show me the might of his jade pillar?â
âYou! You! You!â Morax found himself at loss for words.
âAdepti would never stoop to such a barbaric act!â
âOhâ Your disappointed voice only served to confuse him, until you uttered your next accursed words, âI wouldnât have minded if it was you~â
A wink sent his way accompanied by the odd motion of your lips had his face beet red. It was the first time he had ever suffered such a loss. Embarrassment gave way to anger when he heard your laughter, his hand moved to curse you until another voice stopped his movements.
âMust you resort to such means, to win our bet?â
Your smile brightened up as you saw Zhongli walk in the clearing, wearing his archon clothes. His hair swayed in the wind, gentle smile plastered on his face despite the chiding tone of his voice.
âBut the appeal of having you indebted to me was too much to resist!â You answered with a jovial grin that made Morax pause.
âMore of you?â Morax asked with great annoyance until he realized how much similarity he had shared with the new âguestâ.
A split second was all it took before you found yourself encased in Zhongliâs familiar arms, his strong shield surrounding you both as Moraxâ vortex vanquisher hit the shield. You blinked, slightly rattled but still relatively calm as if you werenât just about to be skewered by the Lord of Geo.
âAre you alright?â Zhongli asked, concern evident but you remained staring at Morax.
âZhongli~ Iâm starting to understand why you think Iâd get along with this version of you!â
You grinned, eyes no longer glinting with plastic curiosity. Zhongli sighed and resigned to whatever consequence would be the outcome of your action.
It took several terse talks between Zhongli and Morax to draft an acceptable contract between the two of you and Morax. All of it just to accompany Morax in his day to day life. Zhongli found himself frequently being on the receiving end of a spear, or in some cases a glower from the amount of times you had teased his stubborn and unpleasant past self.
However, Zhongli could not deny that this version of him was growing fond of you, soft even, with the way Morax would occasionally gently steer you away from the geo vishaps or the rare times he would bring you to Azhdaha to play with the large geo dragon.
Though this soft moment would always, almost, be followed by your teasing. Zhongli wasnât even spared from your flirtatious remarks though he did have the advantage of knowing you longer, thus he was able to render you speechless more often than not when compared to Morax. But from the past few days, Zhongli could see how Morax was learning and he knew that it would only be a matter of time before you would be rendered speechless by Morax as well.
Thus, the three of you spent the days in simple fun, getting to know each other, sharing battles and each moment Zhongli spent observing how you acted with Morax brought him some sort of warmth, happiness at your acceptance and your rationality during such troubled times. It was true that your kindness would not have survived but Zhongli could see that if you truly had lived in this time, your kindness would have just taken another form, adapting and yet remaining all the same.
You were a safe haven, for him, for Morax, and for those who met you in this troubled times. A human who stubbornly remained kind, who audaciously declared that even Celestia could be wrong. This side of you that remained hidden in the present times, flourished like a well cared for silk flower.
Therefore, it really should not have surprised him to see Morax begin courting you, not that you noticed, and yet it did. Surprise and discontent warring inside him, both claiming that you were his and one discrediting his former self. He figured that the same thing was most likely happening with Morax, from the dangerous glint in the otherâs eye when he drew close to you or held you by the waist.
--
Somewhere between teasing Morax and having Zhongli recount his past through the various strolls you took in Liyue Harbor, you noticed the almost possessive way Morax would act towards you, the barely kept aggressiveness directed to Zhongli whenever he would care for you or the occasional soft growls towards threats you didnât even notice.
It was fascinating to watch him, and you made no secret of it. So a part of you couldnât help but blame yourself for provoking a dragon. Really, what sort of person says, âI can take youâ to a god of war?
âMe, apparentlyâ You thought with great regret and annoyance as you found yourself benign subjected to the intense bedroom look of Morax.
âCan you?â Morax purred, eyes glinting with something primal and you canât help but be entranced.
You have always been drawn to beautiful and dangerous things.
In contrast to his predator smile, his kiss was gentle but no less passionate than your previous lovers. Moraxâ grip on your body was firm but gentle, bringing you close to his rock hard body. You gripped his clothes as you opened your mouth wider, letting his inhuman tongue explore your mouth.
In the privacy of his abode, you didnât hesitate to tangle with him. Battling for dominance in the bed, a passionate dance of desire that had the dragon in him purring in delight. Morax bit your neck and you moaned in pleasure before making the split decision to bite him back.
Your clothes were askew, private parts exposed to the cold air and you returned the favor to Morax. His hair was untied and his thick cocks sprung out as soon as your hands pulled down his pants. In a fluid movement, you easily took both of his cocks inside your mouth.
Morax, who had never experienced such a thing, felt his heart quicken just as his arousal rose once more. It was a testament for his new found feelings towards you that he let his guard down and lost himself to the sensation of your tongue and mouth as it sucked him off. His hand clasped the back of your neck and held you still as he began fucking your mouth.
Your moans of pleasure made wonderful vibrations that intensified his arousal, drool dribbled down on the side of your lips as you slowly lost yourself to the haze of pleasure. His bed shook with each vigorous thrust that hit the back of your throat, he stilled inside your mouth, his cocks managing to not make gag as it spilled thick loads of cum down your throat.
Morax smirked at you and you smiled back, lazy and challenging. He laid you on the bed, body naked as the day you were born. Despite his recent orgasm, his cocks were still erect and throbbing, you bit your lip in anticipation.
Legs spread wide, exposing your hole that was calling out for his cocks with each twitch that was visible in Moraxâ eyes, you were the picture of desire. Morax swore as soon as he plunged his cocks inside your tight and warm hole, you moaned feeling as if you had ascended to Celestia itself when his cocks stretched your hole. The burn, a mixture of pleasure and pain.
He moved slowly, coaxing you with sweet words as you cried out in pain and pleasure until the only feeling left was pleasure. For all of his inexperience, Morax was good at reading people and body language, and yours was the easiest he had read. It took him barely a minute before he was able to accurately tell which parts sent you to a high, which part of you brought forth more arousal.
He sucked on your tits as he thrusted into you, hitting your sensitive spot that had you moaning and begging his name. Your lustful moans felt more devoted than any other prayer he had received from his people. Your kisses felt more divine than any offering he had ever tasted.
If there had been another way to reach Divinity, Morax had no doubt that making love with you was one of them. Each touch from you sent his body aflame, each call of his name made him feel more of a god that he wasnât.
Oh! How he wanted to drown in you for eternity until erosion came for him. He wanted you in all the ways he never understood, each particle of his cell calling out to yours, and Morax felt it too much so he poured each and every emotion you made him feel in fucking you. He fucked you as if to brand himself in you in all the ways that matter. He plunged his cocks inside you again and again, bringing you countless orgasms as you submissively let him maneuver your body however he wanted.
He fucked you from behind, thrusting hard enough to leave marks on your buttocks, spilling his seed again and again without stopping his thrusts as you came again and again.
He fucked you sideways, spreading your legs high and wide, as his mouth kissed and bit your neck, his hand pinching and twisting your nipples while his cocks slid in and out of your hole that was overflowing with his seed. He broke you apart with each round and mended you over and over again until you lost count of the times you came.
Both of you were so focused on each other that neither of you noticed the arrival of Zhongli.
And what a sight it was to behold, the way your body contorted in half as he watched Morax impale you with his cock again and again, the scent of sex heavy in the air. Zhongli felt his cock stir, quickly hardening as the lewd sounds of flesh clapping echoed loudly, he moved slowly as he divested himself of his clothes until he reached the side of the bed just as you and Morax laid on the bed, panting from the most recent orgasm.
He observed your body seeing the marks and bruises that littered it on top of the numerous drying flecks of cum on your skin. He swallowed his saliva and spoke,
âPerhaps there is room for one more?â
And your smile, inviting and sparkling at the thought of another challenge, made him breathless and helplessly fond of you all over again. The continuous and seemingly never ending cycle of him falling for you over and over again was one he would never tire of.
âWhy donât you come over and see for yourself?â You said, positioning yourself to lie on Morax as you spread your legs once more, hands going to your hole and spreading it for Zhongli to properly appreciate.
You felt Moraxâ cum dribble down just as you felt his displease growl.
âI bet I can take the two of you at onceâ
There was no such thing as a medicine for regret, and it was one you had no need for. Not when two predatory glint brought you to a new height of pleasure.
Zhongliâs thrust was just as hard if not rougher than Morax, as if he was releasing centuries of frustrations to your abused hole, not that you were complaining. You were already lost to the pleasure of their cocks filling you and stretching you, all semblance of rationality thrown away as you begged for their cocks.
Zhongliâs cocks fucked your hole, easily slipping in and out from the cocks it had been receiving from Morax, Zhongliâs cocks were thicker but shorter when compared to Morax. Despite that his skillful thrust had you clamping and twisting as your mouth busied itself with Moraxâ cocks.
Between the two of them, not a single part of you remained untouched. Your body was stained with their love, their marks littering every inch of your skin, their hands leaving bruises on your skin as you sank deeper and deeper into them. The overpowering scent of cum filled your senses as Zhongli and Morax threw away their rationality and began to fuck you like beasts in heat.
The fact that you could take them both at once, was proven true, with the way your holes relentlessly sought their cocks, how you ignored your bruised knees just to get into a better position for them. And it pleased them terribly, made them want you more. To make you theirs permanently and for as long as they breathe. It made them fuck you harder, just to reach deeper inside you, spilling their thick cum inside you until it over flowed.
You moaned, joy mixing with pleasure as you came just as they filled you to the brim. White spots filling your vision until you finally passed out. Your body remained responsive, your hole twitching as Zhongli continued fucking you through your orgasm.
Morax grinned, animalistic, as he took his cocks and smeared the remaining cum on your lips and then spreading it on your face, âYou really could take us both at once.â
His cum spilled from the slight gap in your mouth, his thumb gently pushed it back inside before he turned to Zhongli, âShall we see if they can take all of our cocks in one hole?â
Zhongli stilled as he spilled more of his cum inside, then he answered, âLetâs see how long it takes before they wake up as well.â
The two of them worked together, loosening your hole until it was able to fit four cocks inside, your walls spasmed with every thrust as your let out unconscious moans with the immense amount of pleasure from having four cocks inside you. Your unconscious and limp body was sandwiched between Zhongli and Morax, your nipples played with until it was sore and overly stimulated. The two of them didnât stop fucking you until your stomach was filled with their cum, their cocks repeatedly penetrated you, thrusting inside you again and again until they had their fill.
Their cum created pools of semen on the bed sheets, some of it on the floor when the two decided to switch positions, trying out different positions with your unconscious but eager body until they were satisfied. By the time you woke up it was already afternoon of the next day, your body utterly sore from all the sex it went through.
You blinked and realized that there was someone sleeping beside you, a quick glance on the side and you recognized Zhongli, âThe dream must have already endedâ you thought as you slowly got up from the bed.
Except your legs could barely stand, making you fall into the floor in a flash. You blinked, your mind not registering the pain but instead focusing on the feeling of something warm dripping down from between your thighs.
âAre you alright?â Zhongli asked, the vestiges of sleep clinging on his eyes, as he frantically assisted you back to the bed.
His torso was filled with scratches and bite marks. You flushed with embarrassment as you recognized the marks you left on him.
âI-just what happened after I passed out?â
âThe first or the second one?â
â?â
Zhongli smiled tenderly at you, âItâs alright if you canât remember, Iâm sure another round would jog your memory.â
Like a magic trick, his words had your hole eagerly twitching with anticipation. Coyly you lied back on the bed and spread your legs, showing him your glistening, cum filled hole.
âPerhapsâ You agreed with a seductive smile, âIâm sure I can take you well.â

The Signature || Zhongli
Yandere! Zhongli x Reader
Please make sure not romanticize toxic relationships. I do not condone this behavior whatsoever.Â
AMBERÂ eyes were stuck on you, never once leaving your form. They belonged to the Geo Archon, Zhongli, the attractive man you befriended not too long ago. His long ebony hair had left its hair tie, drooping loosely over his shoulder like a soft waterfall as he rested his hands on the surface of the desk -- the desk in which you were forced to sit at.Â
In front was a long piece of parchment, handwritten by the male delicately. On it stated:
An agreement that [Y/N] will stay by Zhongliâs side forever. The signer will not speak, look, or stand near anyone other than Zhongli. The signer will be cherished, so they will also have to cherish the other party. They will enjoy their lives to the fullest, as long as they do not step out of line and make sure to follow the rules laid out to them.Â
[Y/N] will never stop loving Zhongli. They will speak of topics in interest to both parties. They will drink tea and spend mora for the two of them. They will unconditionally love Zhongli. They will love Zhongli. Zhongli will love them. For an infinite amount of time. Forever and always. Always.Â
They will never die. They can not die.Â
DO NOT EVER DIE.
Punishment will come if they dare break the contract. The signer knows what this means.Â
Signed: _____________
The hand on the pen was gripped so hard, your knuckles had turned white and it shook. Your breath was shallow; A headache began to pound. His eyes would never leave. You were his priority now. Every action was a ticking bomb -- anything could set him off easily.Â
You didnât want to fucking sign it. You knew it was a death trap, but did you have a choice? Not really.Â
Zhongli noticed your torn expression, so he tilted his head with a quiet hum. âIs it that hard to sign something?â he stated coolly, his gloved hand brushing over yours. The leathered feeling sent shivers down your spine, and it took everything not to cringe away.Â
âI was just⊠thinking,â you murmured. He raised his brows slightly, quickly interested by your words. Maybe you could buy some time and figure a plan out to leave this room unscath. Luckily enough, the God of Geo was a man who often went on tangents. âI was thinking about the first day we met. You made me pay for your tea at the teahouse.â
He nodded eagerly, stroking the bottom of his chin in thought. âWhy, yes. I can remember that day as clear as the skies of Liyue. The tea made for me was quite striking. Made of violetgrass and it tasted delightfully smooth too. Then you came in and made it taste even better. You were all dirtied from battle, seeking for a nice drink to be refreshed on. It caught my attention immediately, but when you offered to pay for me, I knew you were the one.â
He described the meeting in a dreamlike tone, oblivious to the jarring reality that sank its teeth on everyone like a poisonous snake. You shouldnât have paid for him that day; you shouldnât have even made eye contact and spoken to him. This was the consequences to your failure of judgment. You could only now sow what you reap.Â
He swerved around the desk, growing ever closer to you until he was right next to you. His warm breath hit the side of your face, the smell of soft mint wafting up your senses. âNow⊠letâs not get off track here. Sign this, my love. I promise you itâs not that hard.â
Dammit. He was too focused on the contract that you barely had the time to brainstorm. Nothing was coming to mind.Â
Footsteps echoed throughout the office of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. You turned around in desperation, hoping it was someone who could save you from such a situation. There, stood a merchant, his hand holding advertisements to his stalls.
âHello, Iâve come to--â
When his eyes landed on you, the figure beside you had made his move. Zhongli grabbed his polearm and with a clean swipe, beheaded the speaking man. The body-less head made a perfect, slow arc in the air before dropping to the ground with a sickening crunch. You let out a gasp, panting raspily in shock, stomach twisting within itself in nausea at the sight. What⊠just happened? That man just died. Oh god. Oh fucking goodness. You suddenly realized something. Help wasnât ever going to come. No one could best Zhongli. He was a god!Â
âWhy did you⊠do that?â you choked out, gulping down the huge lump in your throat. As a pyro vision user, you had your fair share of witnessing deaths. But this was wrong. Someone innocent died for coming into this room. On account of you. He died because of you.Â
âOn the contract itâs stated that you cannot look at someone. Besides, he interrupted our moment.â
âI havenât even signed the contract yet!â you cried out in hysteria. This was a nightmare. An absolute nightmare.Â
âOh,â he said, blinking in surprise. âThatâs right. You havenât. Well, this serves as a warning.â
You could never leave him. Trapped in a glass box within all corners, you were to be suffocated by his presence forever. There didnât need to be a contract; you were already in one. He would kill your loved ones if you didnât -- he knew of the weakness humans had, for he lived long enough to observe. He had guilt tripped, blamed you for it all, and knew that you would indeed succumb. The deaths were caused by your actions, painting you in red of a blood bath.Â
The pen made its move. Ink bled into the paper, marking it as a tattoo. Indeed. This was permanent. It would continue to haunt you for the rest of your life. The writing was barely legible, pressed down so hard it became jagged like shards.Â
[Y/N] [L/N] was finally written on the goddamn page.Â
Gods were so selfish. They truly didnât like to share-- whether thatâd be war, the world, or the love of their life. If only you had known beforehand.Â
âThis is marvelous,â he exclaimed, his expression brightening up. He looked so joyous at the signature, lapping it up like a starved dog. His reaction was so unnerving, especially since the dead body was still in the room, rotting away like the corpse it was. Disgusting. Your hands and his were bloodied and he had no shame. â[Y/N]...â He raised your limp hand and kissed the back of it. âI love you. We shall be bound by this contract. Know that I will protect you, no matter the cost.â
You stayed silent. He was trying to make it romantic, but this entire thing was surreal to you. Either he was ignoring your lack of response on purpose or he did not notice. Tucking the contract away into the pockets of his brown, gorgeous coat, he eyed his hair.Â
âTie my hair, my dear. Iâve always wanted to feel your warm hands on me.â
You nodded robotically in response, getting up from your seat to reach the towering male. His cheeks flustered when your fingers weaved into his soft strands. But it was cold. They felt like weaving spider webs, ready to entrap a poor bug victim into its complex trap. That was what you were. Every second spent was eating you away, until you were nothing but dust.

âXiao!â
A young feminine voice called out to him, chasing after his figure. His stride stopped, slowly turning his head to the source of the voice. Xiaoâs amber optics were greeted by the smiling girl, her [eye color] orbs shining gleefully seeing him.
Since when did my name have a special ring to it only when you said it
[Name] walked forward and stood beside him, giving him another one of her bright smiles.
âThis is fun!âÂ
Her vocals echoed in his head as he reminisced the time they strolled near the Yaoguang Shoal, enjoying the serene and gentle breeze of the Liyue region. [Name]âs lips turned upwards as she enjoyed the presence of the Yaksha beside her. Just the mere sight of her soft and gentle laughs and grins made his heart tugged.
And if it made you smile, Iâd do something over and over for you.
He reminisced about the time they went stargazing at the rooftop of her house near Dihua Marsh. Watching the umbra skies be splashed with little marks of white dots all around as it gives a source of light in Teyvat.Â
When did I start thinking such idiotic things like that?
They enjoyed their time being together, especially [Name], and not even realizing it was already morning. Hours and hours of late-night chatting and time have already passed by in a blink.
 Since when did I
 â
 â[Name].âÂ
The familiar voice of the Yaksha made her turn her head to face Xiao and raised an eyebrow at his sudden appearance.
âEh? I thought you were out.â The female fixed her hold on the basket filled with white sheets that were supposed to be washed until Xiao called for her.
âYes, but I forgot something to tell you.â Something urgent came up and for her not to worry he had to tell her about it. Sometimes this girlâs worries can come out of hand. He sighed internally at that thought but shook it off seconds later reminding himself of what he was doing here.
âI have to go to the annex.â
Xiao was very straightforward, he need not dawdle on any conversations, heâd rather want it to be forward and straight to the point.Â
After letting those words be released from his mouth, [Name] dropped the basket onto the ground and her eyes grew wide and turned glossy.Â
âSorry I have to leave you alone hereââ
âWonderful. Itâs wonderful. How lovely!â She cut him off and he was surprised to see how happy she was. It was not something the Anemo-vision holder was expecting. Why was she so happy about it?Â
âHuh?â
âIt must be something important right? Itâs alright, please donât worry about me!âÂ
Xiaoâs eyes softened and lifted his gloved hand to lightly bump it on her head. His action made her look up at him in curiosity.
âBe good and wait for me to come back.â He said softly.
âI will! See you later!â
The female bid him a farewell and waved her hands at him, watching his figure disappear from the door.
"Sheâs so happy for you, huh?" Bosacius, another fellow Yaksha, cooed to him.
âBe quiet. Nothing good will come of it anyway.â Xiao scoffed at him as he turned his back.
"So scary~ Youâre only kind to [Name], arenât you?" The adeptus snickered at him.
His hands turned to fists, refraining himself to be ticked off by the teasing voice of his companion. He looked back at you for the last time at the door and saw you picking up the fallen sheets scattered on the ground and placing it back inside the basket. His legs lead him to where the annex will be held and went off on a journey, ignoring the winds mockingly lulling his ears.
It was a bit far from where [Name] lives. He wanted to go back and just stay with her but if he defies an order from a god, surely a consequence will come for him. Xiao gritted his teeth at the thought. A god who merely used him as a puppet for the archon and used his weakness.
How utterly disgusting his god is.
âYouâd better not lash out at your master, you know?â
âShut the hell up.â
The Vigilant Yakshaâs voice was dark and glared at nothingness. How annoying these spirits are. Playing and annoying the man just for fun, to enjoy the sight of his weakness and see him be aggravated for their pleasure.
Xiao stomped his way to his destination, killing the hilichurls that were blocking his path. He released all his anger to these poor monsters. Fortunately, no one ever bothered him again, and finally reached the top of the cliff to see his master.
The one whoâs behind the strings attached to him to see his sufferings, the puppet masterâ his god.
It already made him sick seeing him.Â
âWelcome.â The divinity greeted who was sitting idly at one of the stones, waiting for the manâs arrival.
âItâs been a while since weâve talked face-to-face.â He smirked at the Yaksha.
His amber optics sharpened and clashed with the godâs black ones. The wind softly danced against them, their clothes ruffling and the leaves flying, though it only made the temperature drop down at the intense aura between the two.
âItâs okay. Come closer, my pitiful monster.â
 â
[Name]âs gaze was fixated on the streams and lakes, the clear blue water, and bright azure sky made it a good time to do the laundry. She placed the last white clothing on the plastic rod and clipped it to avoid being blown away.
âXiao should have arrived there by now.â She muttered to herself. âI wonder if they are dining together?â A chuckle escaped from her lips and imagined the immortal and other deities eating together in peace.
âBe good and wait for me to come back.â
The young woman placed her hands together and intertwined her fingers to pray. Hoping the Geo archon will hear her prayer.Â
I hope that Xiao will come back at least a little happy.
[Name] closed her eyes, hoping for him to come back to her abode safe and sound.
 â
âHowâs your duty? I suppose you have already killed tons of people, correct?â The god tilted his head to his side, enjoying the sight of the Demon Conquerorâs weakness almost crumbling to pieces in front of him. But Xiao wonât give in, the walls surrounding him are still strong. As if heâll let the god do what he pleases.Â
Just hold it a little longer.
âIâm amazed at how youâve slaughtered so many. Tell me, did you like it? Were those dreams youâve devouredâ their hopes and dreamsâ delicious?â The godâs stygian orbs glinted as he fiddled with the stones lying beside him. His grin only widened when Xiao stayed silent and presented his master with a cold glare.
âHowâs the bet going? Itâs impossible, right? It must be impossible.â He continued to smile in amusement when his puppetâs grimace didnât falter.
âNow now, donât look at me like that. Thatâs how itâs supposed to be⊠How itâs been from the start. Itâs whatâs been carved into the wheel of fate for those born with a spirit. Didnât I teach you that itâs the fate of your lineage?â
The Anemo-vision userâs knuckles turned white. His nails dig deep into his skin and he can feel the blood dripping down. Xiao ignored the pain, it didnât bother him the slightest but what did was the words that escaped from the lips of the deity.
âI have nothing to do with that fate! You made me do this! Youâre the one who made me do this!â
Xiao grabbed the supreme beingâs clothing and clutched it tightly, holding it upwards as if to choke him.Â
âOh? Youâre saying itâs my fault? Then letâs make a bet.â
Amber eyes widened at his sudden challenge but his grip didnât faze. The godâs fringe covered his eyes, not even going to bother to face him.
âIf you manage to break the curse in 2 years, Iâll release you and stop being your god. Iâll even let you enjoy the life of freedom. But if you canât,â
The deity sneered at him, grin outspread on his face enjoying what was about to come for his puppet.
âIâll lock you up permanently and you wonât ever run away from me.â
Xiao let go of him and stepped back. The upper being stood up, unfazed, and chuckled as he fixed his outfit.
Oh how amusing this was. He loves it, the expression the Yaksha is giving him. The despair in his eyes was so wonderful!
âIf you canât break it, youâll truly become a monster to everyone.â
âLooks like Iâm going to win the bet after all.â The god picked up the stone and chucked it in the air upwards and the weight of it fell back to his hands.
Xiao clicked his tongue in annoyance. âWhat? Donât just assume that. Thereâs still time. You donât know that yet.â The volume of his voice increased with each word left from his mouth.
The god suddenly stopped tossing the stone and gripped it tightly.
âWhoâs the one who doesnât get it?â
Before he could speak, the Demon Conqueror was cut off when something hard and rough scraped against his cheek. Xiao felt a stinging pain on his skin and watched the stone that was thrown by the god fell onto the earth.
âWhy donât you get it?â He repeated to him. His gaze was dark and his voice was so quiet that the vanquisher couldnât almost hear it.
âHow come? Did you forget?â The god lifted his own body away from the rock he was sitting on and looked at his puppet with mixed emotions. Anger. Disappointment. Annoyance. Frustration.
He tilted his head to the side and asked, âWhy are you so deluded?â
The way he walks was rather crooked and hobbled, he slowly walked to Xiao and he can feel an unsettling aura surrounding the god.Â
âRemember. Come on.â
He stopped on his track when heâs finally in front of his follower.Â
âRemember that youâre a monster,â
Xiao gulped down the air that was blocking his throat and took a step back.
âAnd because youâre a monster, everyone is dead.â
Something snapped inside Xiao. His eyes enlarged and his lips quivered. âYouâre wroââ
âIâm not wrong.â The god cut him off again.
âNo, it wasnât my fault!â He retaliated to his master loudly. His heart was beating so loudly and sweat was dripping on the side of his head. He opened his hand to summon his polearm but was once again ceased for an umpteenth time when the numen took his wrist to put a stop on summoning his weapon.
âIt was your fault. You killed those poor villagers.â
âStop. Stop! Donât touch me!â Xiao wriggled his arm but it only tightened a bit more when the deity spoke in a dark tone accompanied by a threatening glare.
âDonât give me orders.â
His fingers were shaking and only stared at the deity in fear.Â
âThose poor villagers. Even though they were just enjoying their peaceful lives, protecting their family, and raising their children, they ended up dying from your hands. And you donât care about their death, not even mourning once for their death.â
The Yakshaâs lips hung open, he wanted to speak out but no words were coming out. His brows formed a crease between his forehead, fear, and confusion written all over his visage.
The dark aura is surrounding them so fast. Itâs so suffocating, he wanted to get out.
He wanted to be released from this god.
âXiao, do you know how that poor child felt?â Whispered the wind.
âIt wasnât an accident.â Another told him.
âIt wasnât a suicide.â
âDo you know how much grief you have caused to those poor souls?â
âDo you understand? As a monster, do you understand?â
His gaze was so dull. There was no glimmer or spark in it. Itâs as if heâs soulless⊠He continued to stare at his gloved hands that were splattered with blood. His polearm was lying on the ground, and fresh red liquid continued to drip forming a puddle.
Xiaoâs thoughts subsided when he heard the voice of the divinity.Â
âYou should have died. But sadly you canât, youâre an immortal after all. Surely, if you didnât exist, everyone wouldâve been happy.â The godâs black eyes glinted under the dusky sky. He stared down at his puppet and tightened his grip on his wrist.
The air is so thick, itâs getting hard to breathe the more the god stays close to Xiao. Itâs so suffocating, the atmosphere is too heavy. He wanted to escape from his grasp. He wanted to be free.Â
I killed themâŠ
Scenarios of red splatters and cries of pain and agony flashed before him. The screams of the children and adults resonated inside him. Lifeless eyes and cold bodies continued appearing to remind him of what he had done.Â
IâŠ
A lifeless body of a young woman.
âPlease stop!â Xiao cried desperately either to the god or the spirits.Â
âPlease⊠stopâŠâ He begged and fell down on both of his knees. âPlease⊠just stopâŠâ The deity released his hold on his arm and turned his gaze to the birds perching on the branch of a tree.Â
âHey, Iâve been thinkingâŠâ The god smiled and knelt down to the vanquisherâs height and offered him another one of his all-knowing smiles Xiao despised so much.
âIs [First Name] [Last Name] the one whoâs been encouraging your delusions?â He placed his fingers beneath his chin, feigning that he was lost in thought.Â
âShe was unperturbed after seeing your true form.â The vision holder looked up at him in panic and shock. âHow do you know that?â
The numenâs body raised and let out a huff, glancing once again at the birds. âSheâs really amazing. Almost like an angel? The Holy Mother? Or more likeâŠâ His voice drifted off and stared at the vulnerable immortal in amusement, letting his lips form into a smirk.
â...a monster?â
Xiao gritted his teeth when he mentioned the female. How dare he call her a monster?! It filled him with rage inside. If anyone talks bad about [Name], he immediately beheads them or kills them in a flash. But this was his god, no matter how much he wanted to do so, they both knew who had the upper hand.
âReally, donât you think sheâs too perfect?â He asked and furrowed his brows together. âArenât people who are too perfect actually scary?âÂ
âA monster whoâs too perfect. Thatâs what [First Name] [Last Name] is.â The god hummed to himself, slightly absorbed to know just who this girl Xiao attached to is.
âPeople would normally run after seeing you in that form, no doubt.â
It was raining hard outside and the skies were so gloomy. Xiaoâs face was hidden by a blue and teal mask. He dropped down his polearm as it let out a loud thud.
This wasnât supposed to happen.
Standing before Xiao was [Name], she looked at him in shock and stayed silent. She could only stare at him, speechless at seeing this form. Black and teal mist were surrounding him. She knew that it was dangerous to get closer but she insisted to stay put.Â
She didnât run away from him.
Xiao closed his gloved hands and gripped them on his pants.
âHowâŠâ
The god curled a brow and faced him, letting out a confused sound.
âHow can you say something like that?â The immortal stood up slowly and looked at the deity.
âYou donât know anything. You werenât there at the time.â His brows furrowed and glowered at the person in front of him.Â
âHow can you, when you werenât watching? She wasnât born a monster or anything. How can you?â His voice was getting more aggressive and it irked the god. Xiao was enraged at what the divinity was saying as if he was there. As if he saw what happened and claimed that [Name] is a monster.
How disgusting. It made his stomach wrenched in aversion. How dare this god assume everything.
âYouâŠâ
The female hugged his arm, she didnât care if her clothes were getting dirty or how it was already painted in red. She didnât care if her clothes were getting wet because of the rain. She didnât care how muddy her hair was.
She didnât let go of him.
âYou donât know how scared she was. How can you say that?!â Xiaoâs voice was rough when he screamed those words out.Â
  Her hands and voice trembled.
She was cold. Her face was pale,Â
 She was afraidâŠ
Even just remembering that moment tugged his heart. It hurt him to see how scared [Name] was in seeing it in that form.
âEven soâŠâ Xiao muttered.
âEven soâ she didnât run away from me!â The god groaned and placed his hands on the side of his head to cover his ears. âShut up.â
âShe didnât run away from me!â He repeated.
Xiaoâs god turned away and continued to tell him to shut up. The god was acting childish, he was so stubborn to listen to his puppet. He didnât want to hear any of it, it annoyed him. But Xiao continued to speak out, his voice getting increasingly louder. It was uncharacteristic of him to raise his voice.
âShe⊠she held my hand!â
He let out a small gasp when a realization struck him.Â
She knew that if she let go of my hand. I would never return.
The female continued to hold on to him and tears were flowing down on her pale face. Her hold on him was firm, to let him know she would never let go no matter what. She was stubborn even though fear was present on her face.
[Name] was scared yet she didnât run.
âWhy⊠why are you following me like nothingâs the matter?!â
[Name] was trembling from fear yet she continued to stay.
 âI said stay away!â
[Name] continued to stay for Xiao. She was afraid she'd never see him again if she let go of his arm.
That I might never return to anybody.
No matter how much Xiao pushed her away, she wonât budge. He pushed her again but with more force and it was a success, it sent the female flying to the ground at the strong impact from the immortal. But even so, she stumbled on her way up to reach for him.
âWhatâs wrong with you? Are you blind?! We both know Iâve done this!â
She didnât take up all of my pain.
He raised his hand and stared at the bracelet dangling on his wrist that was given by the mortal.
She didnât fill in all the brokenness.
Xiao grimaced behind the mask and gripped his hair.Â
âWhy canât you just leave me alone?!â
[Name] crawled her way to the Yaksha slowly.
âI donât need any of your pity!â
Xiao thought sheâll finally leave him alone when she turned her back away from him and walked away. [Name] glanced at him over her shoulders. It hurts her to see him keep pushing her away. But that doesnât matter, what matters the most is that Xiao is the one hurting here!
âI wonât run away!â
She ran up to him at full speedâ occasionally stumbling on some branches but still continued to go after him.
When their distance was nearing, she reached out her hand at him and wrapped her slender arms around the vanquisher, and held his head close to her chest. His golden eyes widened at the intimate action and he felt her small hands tugged on his shirt.Â
  But those⊠those werenât important.
Tears continued to pour on her visage and so too did the rain. He can hear her sniffing and feel the warm droplets on his shoulder.
âLetâs go home. We have to goâŠâ [Name] pleaded to him.
âBack home!â She lifted her face up and stared at the male with persistence and determination.
Xiao clicked his tongue and pushed her once more.Â
âLet go of me.â
âNo!â
âDonât you get it?!â
âNo, I donât get it!â
He grabbed his polearm and swung his arm forward so the human will struggle to grasp a hold of him.
âI said let go of me!â
Her hair was so messy that strands of [hair color] were sticking on her face, she shook her head vigorously and clutched on his shirt tightly.
âRight now, even though I hear your voice, it doesnât sound like you. Youâre in a form Iâve never seen and it scares me.â Her voice cracked and continued sobbing but she held it back. She has to stay strong. Xiao knows that sheâs afraid. Her fingers were shaking so much and he could see her shoulders shuddering.
âBut⊠but from now on, I want to understand. Just like when you listen to me when Iâm discouraged, from now on I want you to share with me when you are! I want you to tell me when youâre hurting, or scared, or feeling weak, and let me worry about you!
Because⊠because I want to keep living together. To eat, to chat, and worry⊠All those things. I want to continue--â She held back her cries and pulled him closer to her chest, scared heâll vanish if she even let go of him the slightest.
  The most important thingâŠ
ââto continue to live life with you!â
Was that she stayed with meâŠ
[Name]âs eyes glimmered in awe at him when she saw him cooking Almond Tofu inside her house. Amazed and surprised to see him creating that dish.Â
Finding joy in the smallest thingsâŠ
She smiled at simple things such as collecting seashells together or the time there was a Qingxin flower stuck on his outfit, unintentionally discovering it was her favorite.
Being happy and smiling so cheerfully.
She continued to smile even if she was sick. The time he took care of her, she was living all alone and no one was there to tend herâŠ
Why? She should think of herself more.
The female looked over her shoulder when she felt a familiar presence behind her. She stopped her task in drying the clothes and immediately strode to him and greeted Xiao with a welcome home.
Why? Doesnât she think sheâs getting the short end of the stick?
It hurt him to see her crying all alone inside her abode after he came back from his duties.
She thinks that sheâs stupid, or thereâs nothing good about her.
The time where [Name] bawled her eyes out in front of him.Â
She was so vulnerable.Â
So fragile that even the slightest touch might already shatter her to pieces.
âItâs a waste of time to think about the loss of life or life getting harder.â Xiao looked back at the time the little boyâs spirit shared a story with him.
âThe traveler never thought about that stuff. Even if other people think that makes her an idiot, I just donât. Thatâs all. What about you, Mister Yaksha? What do you think when you close your eyes?â
He put away his gloved hands from his face and stared at them, lost in his thoughts.
 âXiao.â
The female called out and turned around, greeting him with another one of her bright smiles whenever he comes back to see her or just visit her after his travels.
âXiao.â
Her voice was so sweet. He feels safe whenever he hears [Name]âs voice. So soft. So gentle. So sweet and so calming.
He didnât know there were beads of liquid trickling down on the side of his face.Â
  I love you.
He wanted to come back home and return to her welcoming arms. To come back and enjoy the sense of comfort.Â
  I love you so muchâŠ
His chest hurt from this unknown feeling. He never felt this before in his entire life. It felt weird. What is this? It felt like he was yearning for something.
  âŠJust as you areâŠ
Tears continued to fall down his face and this amused the god to see him cry in front of him. Xiaoâs hair covered his eyes but the deity can still see how the liquid trickled under the disappearing sun. Now, this was another wonderful sight to enjoy the vulnerable state the Yaksha had.
âAre you crying?âÂ
Xiao remained quiet and the god asked him once more.Â
No response again.
The master snickered and lowered his head to take a good look at his weak state. âAre you mortified?âÂ
His midnight orbs had a trace of intrigue and mirth.Â
âDonât tell me that youâre in love with [First Name] [Last name].â
The god snickered and placed his hand on his mouth to stifle his laughter when Xiao still remained silent.
âTake a look at that. A monster falls in love with another monster.â
The Yakshaâs pupils dilated and looked up at him in anger.
âWhat? Whatâs that look on your face?â The divinityâs eyes flashed to him, dark and warning. It irked him to see this side of his puppet. Before Xiao could react, he felt another piercing sensation on his bruised cheek.
âIâm not the one at fault here! Youâre the deluded one!â Another slap came to him again.
âAnd that woman. She acts so insolently even though sheâs a mortal!âÂ
Xiao caught his wrist before he made contact with his skin again.
âIfâ if you hate her that much, why did you allow this to happen?! Youâre crazy. What are you thinking? What are youââ
His breath hitched when he saw the emotions behind the godâs eyes.
âWhat are you schemingâŠâ His voice wavered when the thought of [Name] disappearing flashed before him.
âYou used herâŠ? Why? I donât know, butâŠâ He tightened his hold on the numenâs wrist and his glare was colder than ever.
âYou dragged her into this mess.â
The god clicked his tongue and huffed at his words.
âYouâre always quick to make me the villain, huh? So which is it? Do you love that woman?â He pushed him back but Xiao was quick to regain his balance.
âIââ
âThen youâre the real idiot!â He pointed at him in an accusing manner. As if he was the one who had done all these horrible crimes.Â
âDo you think you have the right to fall in love with someone?! Do you think thatâs allowed!?â He shouted at him as his face darkened. The threatening aura was back again.Â
 âI wonât forgive you.â
âHey, Xiao,â The deity called to him to get his attention. âThink about it. Whoâs the real villain here? Whoâs the one who involved her the most?â
The vision holderâs brows creased and looked down with a pained look plastered on his face.Â
âIt was me.â He mumbled.Â
The god hummed and placed a hand on his chin to frame his face. âThough, that woman is also at faultââ
The Yaksha halted his statement. Heâll take the blame. All of it. He doesnât want another word about [Name] to be spilled from his lips. He hated it. He just talks badly about her and he doesnât like it.
âIâm⊠Iâm the one whoââ
 Her eyes were so gentleâŠ
Her touch was so warm and comfortingâŠ
Her smiles were so sweetâŠ
âI donât love herâŠâ He bit down on his lip and clenched his fists. Xiao glared at the god menacingly as if to prove he doesnât have feelings for the mortal.
âI definitely donât love her. Iâll never⊠never fall in love with anyone. Iâll never fall in love.â
 No. No more.
I wonât let anyone talk bad about her because of me anymore.
He wanted to protect that smile so much. He wanted to treasure it so badly. He wanted you to be safe in his arms. He wonât ever let anyone hurt you, heâll take all the pain. Heâll shoulder it all for you.
He fell down onto his knees, shoulders slumped down. Xiaoâs figure was weakening from all that was happening, from all the corrupted thoughts that swarmed his mind.Â
âIs that right?â
The god glanced at the other side, disappointed that his claims are wrong about his puppetâs feelings for the mortal.Â
âI see. I was jumping to conclusions. Thatâs right. Thereâs no way youâd love her. A sensible decision from you, for once.â
He faced the pitiful state of Xiao and closed his eyes. âYouâll never break the curse anyway, so your confinement is certain. Donât you think thatâs for the best?â
The deity neared him and knelt on one knee, continuing to whisper the words that will surely plague his mind.
âIâd feel bad to involve her, or others more than you have already.â
The Yaksha's eyes were dark and lifeless. The whisper of the winds was taunting him along with the god. He wanted to shun them away so badly. He wanted to get out of here now. But itâs no use. The strings are still attached to his masterâs fingers and he canât do anything about it but abide by his orders.
âItâs okay. Iâm still here even if the curse still remains within you.â He pets his black and teal hair, but it didnât give him the comfort unlike what [Name] has. It irked him off, itâs like the god was saying to give up and just live with it.
âIâll be by your side, so you wonât be alone.â
âYouâre just mocking me.â
The god ignored him and continued to brush his hair with his fingers. âI care for you. I actually care for you so much, Xiao.â
He leaned forward and whispered in his ears.Â
âBe good for me now and just follow my orders. Youâll be stuck with me forever after all.â
 â
Splashes of water were gently flowing down the placid and shallow stream. The god feverishly washed his hands as if to remove the dirt that was too stubborn to get rid of.Â
âI touched him too much. I feel gross.â His dark orbs were so dull when he stared at his pale hands that touched the Demon Conqueror before he left.Â
âHe hates [First Name] [Last Name], huh⊠Is that true?â He asked no one but himself but unbeknownst to him, there was another god sitting on the big rocks as he glanced down to see what the other was doing.
Morax watched his figure retreat in the vast land and gently dropped down to approach his previous location. He stared down at the stream as it mirrored his appearance, his narrow amber eyes and long brown hair that has been accompanied with a fade of gold on the tips.Â
His eyes softened and remembered the poor Yaksha.
âIt canât possibly be true.â
 â
âDo you think youâre allowed to fall in love with someone?!â
âThe one who involved her the mostâŠâ
 I know.
âSurely, if you didnât exist, everyone wouldâve been happy.â
âI know!â Xiao screamed and covered his ears to get rid of the voice thatâs been haunting him after the conversation. The voice of the god wonât stay away, it continues to linger inside his head.Â
âI knowâŠâ
 Iâm always hurting others.
[Name] held him tightly against her chest, it was so warm and soothing, reassuring him everythingâs fine. It felt like a haven for him.
 Why didnât she run away?
She shouldâve stayed away from me.
So why doesnât she hate me for what I have done?
He finally arrived at [Name]âs home. It was quiet and peaceful, the birds were chirping and the sounds of cicadas ringing in the environment. It felt like a good time to enjoy some naps. Xiao opened the door and was expecting a greeting from the female, but he heard none. He waited for a moment but it was still silent.
â[Name]?â He called out. He glanced outside to see the white sheets hanging up to be dried. The winds softly fluttered the clothing making it dance along with the air.Â
Despite everything, why do I look for her?
âXiao.â The said male looked at the archon with his cold eyes.
The Yakshaâs amber eyes widened and immediately sprinted outside to find [Name].
âWait, Xiao.â The adeptus raised his hand to stop him from continuing walking. âDonât step on the poor flower.â
The male glanced down at the Qingxin flower before his feet. Such a lone flower. Its white petals were so pure, quite amazing it was left untouched as there are no signs of dirt on it.
âNothingâs going to change by protecting this one tiny flower.â He watched the flower swayed. What a lone and minimal flower, he wanted to crush it.Â
âWhat existence is worth a sacrifice, worth more than anotherâs life?â Xiao asked Morax as he raised his head and glowered at him.Â
âTaking everything from someone and trampling over them.â He continued.
The God of Contract fixed his gaze onto the poor immortal and said, âEven so, youâre still here because you still havenât given up hope yet. Itâs because you know that not every soul in this world has rejected you.â
Xiao gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. âWhat are you talking about? I killed them all, thereâs no way someone out there wouldnât reject me. Itâs obvious I did this all!â
âAs if thereâs someone who would never reject me.â
âThere isââ
âThereâs no one!â
The Yaksha stepped on the Qingxin in pure spite. The flower being crushed by his foot trampled on the ground and now laying limply on the earth.Â
âNo oneâŠâ
âEven so, even if you donât have a glimmer of hope now, it will surely come again. However much you resist or trample it, however many times youâre thrown into despair, hope will come again just as many times. Repeatedly, again and again.
It will bloom.â
Xiao ran as he continued to search for [Name], figuring out where she would be at this kind of time. He hopes sheâs safe and uninjured.Â
Forgive me. I understand now. I just pretend I didnât, but I actually understood.
He looked all around the area and even climbed up to a tree to get a bigger view and search for the petite figure of the female.Â
I understand that as many in this world reject me, there are just as many people who reach out their hand to me.Â
âWhy the long face?â A woman asked him.
Even though sheâll never come backâŠ
âHere, take this.â Xiao glanced at the unknown woman who gave him some kind of offering.
   I couldnât keep it.Â
âSheâs my treasure.â He observed the image the woman was holding. A young girl with [hair color] and [eye color] donned in a red and white Hanfu. He grabbed the portrait and took a closer look at the person.
  But she bloomed before me.
The vision-holder reached the big tree in Dihua Marsh, the place where [Name] tends to take care of the flowers in her free time.Â
âI feel like Iâve only caused her sadness.â A broken smile was presented on her face. Xiao can see the obvious melancholia in her eyes.
  She continued to bloom.
He was standing at the treeâs sturdy branch near the womanâs residence. The window was open and he caught sight of a young girl, her back facing him. She was all alone inside, silently nourishing the meal placed on the wooden table.
  A small⊠small flower.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw the familiar [hair color] head, crouching next to the bushes of Silk Flowers near the bridge of the Guili Plains and Dihua Marsh. Her slender fingers fiddled with the crimson corolla.Â
  A tinyâŠ
She plucked the flower from the bush and brushed one of the petals with her index finger.Â
  Flower.
[Name] held the flower close to her and took in the sweet scent. Her eyes softened as they eased her mind and body.
  PreciousâŠ
 My preciousâŠ
 â[Name]!â
A small gasp flees from your lips and you whip around to see the male youâve been waiting for standing before you.
âHuh? X-Xiao?â You stood up and faced him properly, still holding on to the Silk Flower in your hands.
âWhat happened? Youâre back so soon.â Her focus went to his bruised cheek and quickly approached him to get a closer look.Â
You raised your hand but not touching it so as to not hurt him any further. âXiao, your cheekâŠâÂ
The male obscured the wounded skin with his gloved hand and looked anywhere but her. âOh, I got into a fight.â
[Name] released a confused sound and her eyes widened, quickly asking if he got into a fight during the annex.
âNo, itâs from Hilichurls.â He lied.
âEh?!â Now that was not what she was expecting. Normally, whenever Hilichurls attack him, heâll sweep them off in a second. She shook her head to erase the thought and deemed that Xiao can still get some injuries whoever fought him whether it be from Abyss mages or other monsters lurking around the world of Teyvat.
âItâs fine.â The Anemo user assured. âI know you were happy for me, but Iâm fine if Iâm not summoned.â
He closed his eyes and crossed his arms. âI donât really care about it anymore.â
When [Name] gave him an unsure look, he raised a brow at her and bumped her head with his fist playfully. âWhat? Youâre not happy Iâm back?â
She flailed her arms around and stumbled on her words when he asked that. âTh-thatâs not it! I mean, um⊠erââÂ
An amused smile was shown on his face as he breathed a sigh. âDonât take it seriously.â
[Name] airily laughed, her cheeks were tinted with red as she beamed, smiling brightly at him.Â
âWelcome back.âÂ
Her warm welcome greeted Xiao for the umpteenth time. She was smiling at him again, her eyes were so gentle and pure of [eye color]â the shine continued to linger in it whenever she saw him.Â
âWelcome back, Xiao.â
His mouth unconsciously curved upwards. âItâs good to be back.â
The Yaksha felt the unknown feeling come back again. He felt his heartstrings being pulled every time she gave that bright smile to him. It was odd, it felt fuzzy inside. His amber eyes stared with her own [eye color] ones, so kind and passionate.
I love you. I donât want to take anything else from you.
I donât want to trample you ever again.Â
The two walked off and journeyed their way back to their home. [Name] initiated the conversation and Xiao was there to listen to her and enjoy the sound of her pleasant voice entering his ears.
At some point, I hoped we could always be together somewhere far offâŠ
 âI wonât forgive you.âÂ
Xiaoâs visage was downcasted when those words echoed inside him.Â
âŠbut I wonât hope that anymore.
âIâd feel bad to involve her more than you have already.â
I wonât hope that I could make you my own anymore.
 I wonât hope that.
[Name] continued to play with the Silk Flower as they walked side by side. Xiao took notice of this and gently held her hand with his gloved ones. The action made the femaleâs cheeks heat up, she didnât notice he already took the flower from her hold.
  So, pleaseâŠ
He tucked the plant on the side of her head, adoring how well it complemented her beautiful features.Â
At least be by my side for the time you have left.
The young womanâs cheeks were still warm, speechless of the Guardian Yakshaâs sudden and unexpected gesture. She noticed how he stared at her with fondness and adoration. Her heart was beating so fast and she looked on the demesne to hide her flushed face from him.
Xiaoâs train of thoughts was stopped abruptly when he felt a pull on the clothing hanging on his left arm.Â
âW-what would you like to eat for dinner?â [Name] mumbled still not facing him.
He lifted one of his brows at her and said, âDid you forget again that eating is unnecessary for me?â
She flinched when he mentioned that and her blush darkened even more. [Name] fumbled on her words and apologized to him.Â
âAlmond Tofu.â
She processed what he had said before her eyes sparkled and nodded at him with a grin. âYouâve got it! Time to roll up my sleevesââ
The mortalâs footing slipped and the gravity pushed her down, she closed her eyes waiting for the impact to come but instead, she felt an arm wrapped around her waist.Â
âWorry about your footing over your sleeves,â Xiao warned her with an exasperated sigh.
âR-right. Sorry.â She apologized to him with a meek smile. He heaved another sigh but nonetheless smiled at her clumsiness.
âWhat am I going to do with you?âÂ
It caught the female off-guard to see the immortal smile but her attention was then focused when he grabbed her hand and pulled her along with him to march their way to her house.
I want to be with you.
He glanced at her when [Name]âs hold on him clutched back, reciprocating his hold and not going against it. She was smiling to herself, the blush still remained but was eased a while ago.Â
  Until weâre separated far apartâŠ
His gaze softened seeing this side of her. It gave him a warm and fuzzy feeling again.
  âŠUntil the last moment

Grand Army
I am in love with this show. Iâve heard people say itâs a Netflix euphoria which I kind of agree to disagree with, GA is more muted and realistic in a way. Not to say Euphoria isnât real but the show is very dramatic in a sense. GA would actually happen in everyday life. Nothing was insane except for the bomb threat but honestly Iâve had a shooting threat called into my school multiple times so this is just the NY version of that. Anyway onto the characters:
Dom- amazing, beautiful, talented, hardworking, absolutely flawless 10/10
Joey- in the beginning she was a performative activist and self absorbed. She labeled herself an ally of POC then hung out with George and Luke who call their only brown friend every variation of racial jokes. She had an active hand in Owenâs suspension, how can you claim your for POC then act oblivious to how your influence as a white woman could impact a black mansâ future. After the meeting with the principal, she had the nerve to turn to Dom saying how she felt âreally badâ about what happened. Moving past this, what happened to Joey was evil. She was assaulted/betrayed by the people she trusted the most in the world. She is stronger than any character Iâve ever seen. I was so proud of her for standing up to her abusers and confronting them. Iâm so proud she started dancing again and I hope she gets the healing/justice she deserves. 8.5/10
Leila- I think her storyline/character is very complex and deserves an in depth review. I could make a whole post about only her. She was trash for blaming Joey because she was getting attention from Geo and Leila wasnât. You never blame the girl and Leila should know better. However, Iâm not going to pretend that Georgeâs abuse of Leila was her fault. He is two years older than her and using her for sexual favors, itâs disgusting. Her treatment of Rachel throughout this entire thing was absolutely so selfish. It was Rachelâs sisterâs day and all she could talk about was âheâs not texting me backâ. I understand she is a freshmen and this happens a lot because high school is new and exciting but she needs to understand that her actions have consequences. Her battle with her identity as an minority adopted by white parents is so strong and I hope she comes to understand who she truly is. She called out her mom for her treatment of Asian women *chefs kiss* and started to think about where she comes from. HOWEVER, when she told the Asian girl in her class to âspeak f*cking englishâ? How on earth can you struggle with knowing yourself/place as a minority then tell other minorities a racist phrase that is used to belittle their struggles? The white writers in charge of the show really shone through there. 6/10
Jayson-he went through a very big change during these nine episodes and I am proud of his progression. He never saw how he and Owen were different until Owen was sent away and it shook his entire world, which I thought was kinda wild because did he really not see the class disadvantages between he and Owen just because they are both darkskin black men? He did the right thing in the end and I hope it works out for him. 8/10
Siddhatha- I think he is a decent person overall. He did put a FRESHMAN on the âbomb p*ssyâ list just cause he didnât want his sister to be on it but one wrong doesnât cancel out another. He did associate with the d-bags on the swim team but I believe itâs just cause they were his relay. I, personally, have to be friendly with T*ump supporters on my team and it freaking sucks so I get what heâs going through. His struggle with his identity was definitely one weâve seen before, with a beard girlfriend, a forceful coming out, and unsupportive parents but he had a happy ending and I really love that for him. Him and Victor are the cutest and I hope freaking Orolov gets what he deserves. 9/10
Luke- I am the biggest clown there is. I was walking around saying, âAww, I love Luke, I want him and Joey to be together, Iâm only on the first episode but I hope nothing bad happens!!!â, like a freaking idiot. But yeah, he disgusts me and I hope he and the other three rot. He really had the nerve to tell Joey SHE should be apologizing to THEM?! LIke, wtf? No, actually, what the f*ck? -1000000000000000000000000000000000000/10
George- He is absolutely disgusting for using Leila the way he did. He deserves the worst for what he did to Joey and I hope he gets what is coming to him. -1000000000000000000000000000000000000/10Â
Tim- He can suck d*ck and rot for all I care,I didnât like him from the beginning. Itâs always the ânice guysâ, the âfeministsâ who turn out to be the worst slut-shamers in history. He really got mad at Joey for being touchy-feely with Geo and Luke like she hasnât always been this way, thatâs how she shows her love and he knows that so wtf is his problem?! Oh yeah, raging misogyny. He sat there and WATCHED as Joey was being r*ped and then SLUT-SHAMED HER to the police? Letâs not forget he had THE BALLS to tell Luke and Geo they did rape her AFTER Joey left, then did coke/ whatever off his phone and begged Joey to talk to him. Absolute trash -100000000000/10
Anna- How dare you not believe your friend whom youâve known for however many years then call her a liar and turn your back on her when she needed you the most. Sheâs a feminist until it comes down to her compliant, misogynistic brother then sheâs right back to slut-shaming with the boys. Joey borrowed HER UNDERWEAR becuase herâs were RIPPED with BLOOD STAINS and Anna said nothing? When she asked if she needed a tampon and Joey said no HOW DID HERÂ âBESTFRIENDâ NOT CARE ENOUGH TO EVEN ASK QUESTIONS?! Same as her brother, she disgusts me and I hope she rots -100000000000/10Â
Grace- how tf are you going to turn on the girl who literally fished a c*ndom out of you? Like wtf? Not only is she a slut-shamer (quite hypocritical looking back) sheâs a racist!! She refused to call Leila by her name or even show her a shred of dignity just because Leila, a BABY FRESHMAN, was getting attention from George . Trash -1000000/10Â
Orlov- He released Meeraâs nudes and outed SId, he can choke. -1000000000/10Â
Meera- Iâm in love with this woman. Didnât take bs from anyone and was only ever supportive. Called everyone out on their bs and stayed a true feminist icon while at it. 10000000000000000/10Â
Let me know if you want more!!Â

snezhnaya does not believe in broken hearts > childe
â pov: there is no pov iâm in love with another fictional man. Iâm a little rusty writing wise because of school, but someone said childe enemies to lovers and who i am i to say no to that đ„Ž so, hereâs his boss battle with a âštwistâš
â ib: this comic on twt, pls go support it i love it and cry whenever someone mentions it. also, like the comic, childeâs delusion form wonât have a mask just so itâs easier to write his expressions!
â *there are a good amount of lines that are taken directly from his battle in the game, so beware of detailed spoilers!
You can trust him. But, donât get too involved. The battle he pursues is dangerous; itâs not something a normal person can withstand.
Whether you realised it or not, every moment you had spent with him began to carve out a hole in your chest, bittersweetly wearing away every layer of protection you had unconsciously built up. It wasnât a well-done job by any means; the edges it left were particularly jagged, but the softness Childe still managed to pull from them left you stunned every time it chose to peek its head out.
âDonât be so on edge, weâre friends, arenât we?â
It suddenly became a daily routine to expect him at some point, whether it entailed him coming upon you doing a commission in the middle of the mountains, or you crossing paths in Liyue while some type of street food balanced precariously in his grip.
Yet, what you failed to notice was that most times, he would take care to place another of the same delicacy into your hand, as if expecting to see you. Childe would meet you in the middle of the mountains not by chance, but rather by a sense of curious boredom, wherein your company was the only suitable way to pass the time.
Subsequently, the only question remaining in a scenario such as this, was what the other meant to each of them â were you truly able to push your obligations aside, or were you only getting close enough to have enough leverage to strike?
On any occasion a disarming laugh left his mouth, or he lent you his support without question, you failed to remember that you were pitched as enemies in the first place. You inevitably no longer felt the same wariness towards the harbinger over time, but it only made you that much more guilty to know just how easily you had begun to trust him.
Yet no matter the hopeful sentiments your sputtering heart provided you, you knew one thing to be true that would always remain so: you would never be on the same side.
âYouâve already fulfilled your task as guide, so why do you still linger here? Havenât you already seen enough trouble for today?â
You had entered the Golden House apprehensively, perhaps hoping even over the Exuviaâs safety that you wouldnât meet him there. But coming upon it and hearing the one voice you had been dreading, you begrudgingly came to terms with the fact that you would have to face reality eventually.
âHuh?â Paimon is startled by the sudden disembodied voice. âWhoâs there?!â
Childe reveals himself by coming up the stairs you had just now ascended, his saunter maddeningly casual. âIf you were Fatui, I imagine that you would be entitled to a generous reward from the Tsaritsa yourself.â
The way he tilts his head with such fake amiability grates across you like nails on a chalkboard. âBut now youâre nothing but dross -- and youâre in my way.â
âIt looks like I was just in time, then.â
Childe laughs. âAlthough Iâm deeply grateful to you for helping me so effortlessly find this secret location⊠donât you think that trying to stop me now would only be a wasted effort?â
âStopping the mora mints, hiding away the Exuvia,â He laughs again, and your hand instinctively makes a small stretch for your weapon. âAnd sending you. The Qixing are really pulling out all the stops this time.â
âSo you were planning to take the gnosis all along?â You ask flatly, your words swallowed by your own hesitation just after youâd barely gotten out the last word. Even though this mishap wasnât very detectable, shame burns the back of your throat at the honesty of the reflex.
âAs one of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers, itâs my duty to see the will of the Tsaritsa fulfilled. And she will get which she desires.â
You shake your head, fully grounding your hand and preparing to draw your sword. âNot if I donât allow you to get near the Exuvia.â
âIâm not looking for your blessing, ___.â Childe narrows his eyes and takes note of this action, the implications of it drawing up a wanton sense of disappointment he had long been expecting. This varies little from your own dismay, unbeknownst to him. âThereâs nothing you could do to stop me anyways.â
âThe time for discussion and diplomacy has already long passed. I mean, if it were up to me, I would have skipped that stage to begin with⊠but, Iâm willing to do as the Tsaritsa deems fit.â
âEither way,â An eyebrow arches as an equally intrigued smile pulls at the corner of his lips. âIt seems weâre now coming upon my favourite part -- Â a simple pleasure, and one that I am oh-so delighted to be sharing with you.â
itâs as if a pin drops, and he grins. âThe battle.â
You now stand at a fork. Two paths stare at you with expectant eyes, both equally enticing; but the drawbacks of the indulgent solution unfortunately long outweigh those of their obvious counterpart. Itâs a decision that must be made on behalf of Liyue, not the hurt of a single heart.
Paimon scoffs, drawing you from your thoughts. âSo youâre the type that goes looking for trouble, huh?â
Childeâs laughter rings out, and he throws his head back as if he had heard something particularly funny. âI guess you could say that!â
âWhen Signora offended the deities outside of the cathedral in Mondstadt, she swiftly left the scene once her mission was accomplished. Instead of confronting you directly, she chose to rely on the snow and ice to make an escape.â
âI would take that as far more than its face value. When she faces a worthy opponent, she will prioritise her mission, weigh the outcomes, and consider the consequences of her actionsâŠâ He explains, trailing off with an inexplicable smile. âBut as for me, the greatest pleasure of being a harbinger lies in the opportunities I have to cross blades with such opponents.â
âThat doesnât mean weâll let what happened in Mondstadt ever happen again.â
âOh? So you do intend to fight me? Good.â Childeâs excitement baffles you and pumps adrenaline into your veins simultaneously. âI wonât kill you, ___, Iâll just play along. To feel the thrill of battle!â
âBesides,â He puts his hands out in an aimless gesture. âYou could never defeat me, not even in your wildest dreams. But hey, try to relish in the fight anyways, because if you ask me⊠without that, what else is there?â
âI could never defeat you?!â His words get the better of you and you laugh in disbelief. âYouâre completely delusional.â
He returns the laugh delightedly, igniting a fire of mixed emotions in your chest. âFighting talk, I love it! Now, letâs see you live up to it.â
You draw your sword at the drop of his last word, taking a step back in preparation for what was to come. Childe, meanwhile, stands watching you with a brewing sensation of glee.
âThis chance isnât easy to come by, so show me all youâve got.â Arrows infused with water begin to fly in your direction, though you avoid them in haste. âSo very few ever get the chance to square off with a Fatui Harbinger, so come now, amuse me. And donât you dare disappoint.â
You find yourself gritting your teeth at the arrogant words, taken aback at his challenging tone. âYou say your colleague has found me praiseworthy, but tell me to only amuse you? Thatâs a disappointing downgrade.â
A lapse in the time Childe has to shoot gives you enough time to approach him, throwing out a strike of your sword that he catches with his own weapon moulded by water.
âItâs by no means an insult, ___, Iâm merely proposing a challenge.â He looks at the way your blades grit against each other and grins. âAnd it seems youâve accepted it.â You jump back with the force of his attack to propel yourself. A barrage of geo-aligned magic is summoned beneath your opponent with a stomp to the marble floor.
However, he sidesteps it in a similar fashion, and through a quick exchange of harsh blows, both of you stand back to scope things out. Still, the one aspect that continues to overshadow the rest of your thoughts is the way that Childeâs personality has changed under the scrutiny of battle.
The playful tone he normally sports is long gone, now replaced with a deeper and more realistic one; perhaps even slightly more menacing. Itâs as if heâs been flipped into a completely different person.
He laughs maniacally as he uses his hydro vision to drive waves of water out towards you, fully intent on at least knocking you off your feet. The burst of elemental energy ends when Childe leaps back onto the ground. This gives you the leverage you need to go in with another geo attack, this time catching him off guard and launching him to the side.
Childe coughs at the force of the action, his lips curving up into a smile. âGood! No wonder signora was so wary of you.â
His body is encased in an impenetrable bubble of water in an instant, a flash of deep light lashing out from the centre before revealing Childe once again. His swords of water have since been infused by electro energy, and his clothes are darker -- the most noticeable difference, however, is the Fatui mask that had previously been slung over his hair now laid properly over his face.
âWell, that just means I can go all out! Brace yourself, this is about to get toughâŠâ He takes a few preliminary steps. âShow me what you can do against the might of a Harbinger!â
The strikes do indeed get faster. Childe toughens up against seemingly every one of your attacks, dodging most if not all of with even more ease than before. you grit your teeth as you rush to keep up with the frequent blows thrown at you. But, in a panic and reflexive drawback, you retract your sword and desperately block with your arm instead.
Silence entraps the incredibly large room as your sword clatters noisily to the floor. Both the cloth running up the expanse of your arm and wrist piece are slashed considerably, all to reveal a shallow but long gash.
The sensation of electro wastes little time in taking effect, burning up your arm and inducing an inevitable cry of pain as both of you take a step back. Malleable emotion hangs in the heavy atmosphere, waiting to be addressed or otherwise plucked down from their higher place.
Though, his reaction in that split second shows that he might not be just as lost as youâd thought.
Childe has little courage to speak up on any of these topics, but in whatever way he chooses to ignore the berating voice in his head, he canât push away the sensation of regret swimming in his chest. Watching your face briefly contort in pain you try so hard to hide, yet standing close and being unable to do anything about it -- itâs more real than any understating word his brain could ever feed him.
âWhat are you doing just standing there?â You suddenly taunt, your voice slightly hoarse as you turn to hide the blood that seeps into your clothing. âI thought you said that you were going to go all out.â
Childe knows that you're right. He had said that, but what would it mean for him to continue? Brawling with you brought the same drunkening high of adrenaline heâs been chasing since he escaped from the abyss all those years ago-- although hurting you wasnât any sort of intention heâd ever had.
â...Iâm only offering a moment to buffer, but I must say -- youâre not bad. Your swordsmanship is quite impressive.â Childe desperately swallows back anything extra that pops into his head and twirls his electrified staff. Personal desires are the last thing he can afford to pay attention to. âBut, thatâs about as far as youâll get.â
You sloppily intercept a rough attack that threatens to send you flying backwards, gritting your teeth as you push back with the force of your Anemo power. It goes well for all but the way your arm begins to falter under the stress. Your head naturally follows your bodyâs trajectory, yet in your panic, the stroke your toed boot makes across the floor leaves a trail of blistering geo behind.
The elements present react immediately, resulting in a blinding explosion. Youâre thrown off too quickly and land unsteadily, pain shooting up your arm as you exhale shakily -- youâd never had the misfortune of experiencing a hydro and electro vision working together before now.
â___, are you okay?â Paimon asks frantically, your tiny hands trying their best to locate the heart of the wound on your injured arm. âThat cut looks deep, do you really think itâs a good idea to keep pushing yourself?â
You shake your head in dismissal as your eyes move with the clearing dust. âItâs fine, but my sword--?â
Once the haze disperses, you spot your sword almost instantly -- however, you also find Childeâs staff sticking haphazardly into the marble floor right next to it, its owner nowhere to be found.
A laugh sounds from behind you. âI really didnât think you had that card hidden up your sleeve!â
Your heart drops into your stomach when you whip around to see Childe standing beside Rex Lapisâ corpse, his grin wide like heâd already won the match between you.
âYou were just playing us to get close to the Exuvia!â
âOh, quiet down. Donât be so quick to judge. Youâve seen this world, you of all people should know...â Childe steadily gathers a ball of electro energy in his palm, the lightning fusing around his gloved hand before materialising. âThat this should have been expected!â
The sound is deafening as Childe forces his hand into the Exuvia, opposing elements colliding and responding in turn. âIâll be taking Moraxâs gnosis now!â
Shockwaves come out like tides as the entire room shakes under the pressure of the single action. Youâre quick to shield your injured arm from the battering wind, while Paimon latches onto the ornament covering your elbow.
Yet, much to everyoneâs surprise, the hand that emerges and unfolds under the glaring light is very much empty.
Childe is taken aback by the particles of light that float from his gloved hand, laughing in frustration as well as bewilderment. âI see. Well, this is most unexpected.â
He turns to look at you through his mask, taking in the equally as surprised expression that moulds your features. But the detail that begins to surface ignites a different, and entirely real type of irritation in him, is the way that your eyes begin to change.
âMoraxâs gnosis is far from another old antique,â Ningguang had prefaced this when you had visited her in the Jade Chamber, her words stable and forward. âIt is a sign of Liyueâs reigning power, and also a symbol for the people to look towards; as not only a god, but also the keeper of peace. This is not something that would be hidden carelessly.â
âMany people throughout my years as a Qixing have tried to outsmart the layers close to the gnosis, however, none have succeeded. Its protector is someone of utmost secrecy whose identity I must not reveal, not even to you.â
She had sighed, placing a warm yet distant smile on her face. âBut, I believe this method will continue to deter unwanted hands, along with you in their capable stead.â
Your eyes widen as you take an instinctual step back. Youâd found it nearly impossible when tasked with feeding the Harbinger outdated details, though your heart feels heavy in realising that it had gone to show how much Childe truly did learn to trust you.
But, it had worked, hadnât it? Because of this, the exuvia was somewhere far away -- in capable hands, as Ningguang had phrased it. Yet you feel little want to celebrate this small victory, immediately reminded of the situation itâs caused as Childeâs vision flares up around him, warping his figure in your eyes.
âYou⊠You beat me to it, didnât you?â Childe doesnât miss your sense of victory being quickly replaced by fear, but in a fit of irritation, he takes no time in disregarding it.
He leaps haphazardly into the centre of the room, forcing you to careen out of the way as his electro vision fries the air around you. It becomes stuffy and unbearably hot in the enclosed space entirely too quickly. But, throughout the sudden drastic change in their atmosphere, you canât help but notice the second transformation that Childe has gone through; yet rather this time, itâs much more drastic.
Once the air dissipates, Childe leaps back to the floor once again, his heavy military boots marking his step indefinitely. The attire he wears is fittingly close to armour -- presenting a deep blue and purple suit that fits like a second skin.
âNot a bad trick,â His spear of water that had since been lodged in the marble floor flies into his hand, twirling to rest on his shoulder as his voice stabilises. âBut, this is going to cost you!â
The same weapon is pushed into the ground with overflowing destructive power. It quickly runs veins out like web beneath your feet, electro charge roughly and abruptly breaking the floor to reveal another space below.
You're dragged down indiscriminately amongst the falling debris, roughly colliding with the sharp edges before hitting the ground once again. Your arm, still slightly bleeding and swollen, screams at the harsh impact. Though having landed on your stomach meant that other parts of your body had absorbed most of the shock, natural reflexes had forced you to receive some of the heavier damage in your arm regardless.
There wasnât a lot that you could do about this, however, other than pick yourself up again and hope that Childe was still too high up to see your pain clearly. Thankfully, lo and behold, a purple light just then begins to descend almost hauntingly through the smoke. It blinks out briefly before revealing Childe again as every messy part of the room is blown away by an incredible elemental power.
You hold up your uninjured arm to combat against the strong wind, wincing as your body is forced back.
âYou got to the gnosis ahead of me, didnât you?â Childeâs staff finally rests in his hand, however, the aura he gives off alone is enough to make you antsy. âDid you simply move faster? Or⊠did you leak the information regarding the Golden House to me on purpose?â
â...Youâve outsmarted me, ___. But that doesnât mean the information wonât be in my hands by the time weâre done.â Another electric current fills the room as he moves to make an attack. âSo, fight hard knowing there's something of such value on the line.â
Your eyes flicker around the room for your sword as you say, âHow do you know that I have any of the information you need? Thatâs betting a lot on nothing.â
He laughs, the familiar sound chilling.
âYou donât have to be omnipotent to take a best guess. Besides, Iâm confident enough in knowing that youâre smart enough to play me, so a battle between friends to determine that isnât too much of a stretch, is it?â
You spot the sword and take a hesitant step towards it, attempting to return his words as a distraction. âItâs strange to call me a friend and threaten to put a knife in my chest in the same sentence. I thought you said that you werenât going to kill me?â
Childe pauses, debating his next words carefully. â...Conditions are ever-changing.â
âIf they were going to change so drastically, you should have told me earlier. Maybe then I couldâve figured out how to explain something I donât know the answer to.â
âDonât play dumb with me, ___.â His delusionâs deeper tone makes even the most playful of his words sound threatening. You stand your ground, though, knowing that no matter what your apprehension presents, nothing will change the fact that your weapon is only a mere step away.
âI know that you can tell me.â
You know I can? The supposedly comforting statement bounces around in your head, creating a ringing in your ears and a painful drumming against your temples. Itâs not that simple, you think. There's little he wouldnât be able to get from you if gone about the right way, however, as long as the information remained important, it would stay unattainable to even him.
You grit your teeth, feet twisting boldly into a position thatâll make it easier to leap in the direction you need. âI wonât tell you anything,â The leap is short and filled with almost too much strength, but you make up for any shortcomings by turning to block the incredibly close blow Childe had thrust out to stop you.
You push your sword against his with the force of all of your irritation, jaw clenched as your words come out in a single breath. âBecause I know that I donât have anything to say to the person that betrayed me.â
Unsurprisingly, words like those are some of the last that Childe wants to hear at that moment. No amount of guilt tripping or humiliation was typically enough to get to him, however, your simple declaration hits him in a spot that heâs long tried to bury.
Childe scoffs, pretending that he hadnât blatantly hesitated. âYouâre not fit to be here if youâre shaken by the betrayal of someone like me. Take it from me and give up while youâre ahead.â
Youâre stunned by Childeâs brutal words for a brief moment, leaving him an important window to more easily knock your weapon away, out of your weakened hands. His blade meets your throat with little hesitation, the cool water stinging against your overheated skin.
Childeâs eyes wander to the way your body turns slightly to protect your injured arm, and disregarding the way his stomach twists, he shakes his head. âWhatâs wrong, ___? The way you are now wonât be able to defeat me.â
He looks at the way you hesitate and the already putrid feeling in his gut turns rotting. You make no more effort to fight back despite your strength, nor move the weapon lying firmly right over one of your weakest points.
âI might end up killing you if you donât tell me where the gnosis is.â Childe tries to push you further, but is taken aback when your brows knit as if frustrated. You know very well that heâs someone with bad intentions, yet why do you continue to yearn to see the good in him? To see the carefree person youâd known before today?
You donât respond, unmoving beneath his heavy gaze for all but the way your hands begin to slowly hover up towards the sword pressuring your neck.
Why canât you stop?
Your shaking hands take the blade lightly in your grip, the vision-adjacent water searing your battered skin. A droplet of sweat slides down your cheek yet all you can focus on is the way Childeâs eyes instantly delve into panic.
âIf youâre going to kill me, you should hurry up and save us both the suffering.â
The sudden powerful statement sounds unreal coming from such a weakened person, blood running down your fingers as you force his sword away.
âWhat makes you think that your death would cause me any harm?â Childeâs heart thumps wildly beneath his clothes as he lets his weapon be redirectioned, but his brows furrow. âI used you. Do you have yet to realise that?â
âYou think Iâm so inept that I would believe in someone so fast?â Your fingers go to nestle in the fabric of your skirt, the clothing acting as a temporary shield from the pain. âIt was no secret that you werenât someone to be trusted.â
âThen why lead me here if youâre so confident in yourself? Surely you donât think that picking a fight with me was a sound idea?â
âYou came here yourself. I was never looking to fight.â You mumble truthfully, taking your hand away from your skirt to reveal your palms stained with blood. â...I only said what I did because I don't like hurting those I care about.â
Childe stands paralysed in shock upon hearing such honest words, his mouth opening and closing as he rushes to process their meaning. What could he possibly say to that?
You hadnât left a single mark on him despite believing that you were fighting for your life, whereas he had prioritised outside matters over listening to his internal backlash -- he had hurt you in a simple twisted warning.
â___, you--â
Heâs barely able to get a sentence out before you sigh, going up to him with little hope before wrapping your arms around him.
Childe exhales unsteadily, his weapons then evaporating as his torso and arms instinctively straighten up. Moments of complete stillness go by unhindered. But, you wait patiently for any type of response from the man in your arms.
â...___.â He finally mumbles this from above your head, voice incredibly soft. âWhat do you think youâre doing?â
Youâre at a loss as for how to respond, because truthfully -- the answer is mostly lost even to you. All you can do is drown in the silence that youâve created, heart picking out the worst parts of the way his posture stays tense.
Childe groans abruptly, his delusion slowly beginning to break down to reveal his normal clothes. âCome on,â
As if something restricting him had suddenly been removed, he staggers and sinks to his knees, body going limp at the sudden lapse in support of his vision. Though fortunately, you follow him even while he goes down.
Your arms struggle to support the sudden weight as his chin lulls forward, colliding with your shoulder just as your knees hit the floor. Heâs not entirely weak, you think, noticing the way he purposely tries to shift a lot of pressure off of you. Though you donât know much about his delusion, it seems viable to assume that the form had just exhausted a decent amount of energy.
You feel the heat of his hands hesitantly coming upon your sides, but much to your disappointment, they quickly retract before he mumbles, âYouâre a fool.â
âI know.â You whisper. âBut, itâs too late. I canât give up on you now.â
Childe scoffs, the sound muffled by your shoulder as he brings his arms up around you. He embraces you so tightly that itâs as if youâve struck something inside him.
Those words are so unfair, they almost give me hope.

where I belong
[PG-13, 3.4k words]
"Buck's not sure of the exact moment that he knew Eddie was it for him, but itâs been that way for so long now itâs become a part of who he is. He used to be good at pretending his feelings didnât exist, but heâs so tired these days."
A little bit of introspection, a lot of idiots in love.
[read on ao3]
The ocean is so beautiful at dawn.Â
Under the soft pink-orange sky the water looks bruise-purple, whitecaps leaving foamy trails on the sand. The sun is only just peeking over the horizon, edging towards another gorgeous LA day. But before that begins, before the hustle and bustle and wailing sirens, Buck sits on the beach on the cold sand and feels caught in a moment so peaceful, so nice, just the squalling of gulls and the gentle crash of the waves for company.Â
He pushes stale air out of his lungs and breathes the fresh in deeply. The chill feels good, raises goosebumps on his skin and reminds him that heâs alive. A reminder heâs needed a lot lately. Heâs been struggling, even though his leg has healed, even though the tsunami is months behind him, even though his relationship with his 118 family is better than ever and he has no reason to be struggling. Nightmares come and go, cold sweats, little niggling thoughts that burrow their way into his brain throughout the day.Â
He tries not to talk about it. There are so many people who have it worse than him and he doesnât want to become some kind of social⊠leech around his friends, constantly draining them of energy by going on about his issues. Youâre exhausting , Eddie said to him once. Buck knows itâs true, knows he takes inches and runs them into miles. His heart may be in the right place, sure, but he doesnât know when to shut up, when to slow down. If thereâs one thing his lawsuit mistake has taught him, itâs that his actions, his selfishness, has consequences on those around him.Â
So what if he has bad dreams occasionally? Heâs not a kid, he can look after himself. Itâs more important right now that heâs there for his friends: asking Bobby how Michaelâs doing, bridging the relationship between Chim and his brother, being there for Maddie always, listening to Hen talk about how Nia is settling in, being whatever Eddie needs to stop him doing stupid things again. It doesnât leave a lot of room for his own problems.
It doesnât matter. Thatâs just what Buck does for the people he loves.
The warmth of the sun creeps onto his face as it rises higher, prickling his skin. Buck squints into it, seeing nothing but gold, then sighs and gets to his feet. He brushes sand off the seat of his pants before slowly turning and making his way back up the beach.Â
At least he gets to go to work.Â
Eddieâs getting changed when Buck walks into the locker room, and Buck manfully pretends he canât see the miles of bare skin on display. Hen is sitting on the bench, laughing at something Eddie must have said, and itâs easy to grin at the two of them and say, âWell, good morning.â
âHey,â Eddie smiles, shrugging into a t-shirt, thank god.Â
âBuck, I have to show you this.â Hen holds her phone out, a video paused on the screen. Buck takes it, taps play. Itâs Nia, holding onto Dennyâs hands and bouncing up and down in time with her blonde curls, screeching in delight as a catchy pop song plays in the background.Â
âThatâs pretty damn cute,â Buck says. âWhen do I get to meet this liâl nugget?â
âSoon,â Hen tells him, slipping her phone back into her pocket. âItâs a lot for her, the social worker says we need to introduce new things and people gradually.â
Eddie, tucking his overshirt into his belt now, says, âWell, whenever you guys need a babysitter, hit us up. Chris and Denny can play and Buck and I will dote on that gorgeous girl.â
Hen snorts, looking between them. âShould you be volunteering Buck for that?â
Honestly, it didnât even occur to Buck that he wouldnât be there. The automatic assumption on Eddieâs part too makes him feel warmer than he did five minutes ago.Â
âHey, you know Iâm down,â Buck beams, âyou just name the day.â
Hen squeezes his arm as she heads towards the door. âThanks boys, we will definitely take you up on that.â
When sheâs gone, Buck finally moves towards his own locker to start getting changed. Eddie is still there, tapping away on his phone. Buck wonders if heâs texting Ana . If theyâve even reached the âexchanging numbersâ phase yet.Â
âHey, man, you wanna grab pizza tomorrow night? You, me, Chris and Mario Kart at my place?â
âSure,â Eddie agrees, hardly glancing up, definitely distracted. âBut, uh, Chris wonât be there, heâs got that overnight field trip at the observatory tomorrow.âÂ
Damn, Buck should have remembered that. Christopher had been chattering excitedly about it for a couple weeks now. Eddie had mentioned it several times too, although decidedly less excitedly and more in worried-dad-mode.Â
âOh yeah, thatâs right. Well, in that case you definitely gotta come over. We can drink beer and watch a movie that doesnât involve some kind of talking animal.â
âSounds good.â
Heâs still typing. What is he doing, writing a goddamn article? Who could he possibly have that much to say to?Â
Buck takes a breath, remembers heâs not being a selfish asshole anymore and gets changed quietly. Ana sounds like a nice person, sheâd probably be good for Eddie. Buckâs feelings, his stupid feelings that heâs shoved so far down they make him feel a bit queasy more often than not, shouldnât even factor into it.
âAre you okay?â
Buck startles at Eddieâs question. Heâs not on his phone anymore, but looking straight at Buck, a little crease in between his eyebrows.
âFine⊠why'd you ask?â
âYou look tired.â
âYeah. I, uh, got up early to go for a run on the beach. Anyway, not even eyebags could ruin this handsome face so you shut your mouth,â Buck blusters with an exaggerated wink and a bit of swagger as he closes his locker.Â
It works, and Eddie rolls his eyes. âSo glad that your ego remains unaffected.â
They argue playfully back and forth as they head up to the kitchen together and by the time they sit down to plates of Bobbyâs French toast, Buck has all but forgotten his weird start to the day.Â
Luckily, work keeps them busy. Any downtime they get is spent either stuffing their faces with food, showering the grime and sweat away, or trying to catch a few minutes of sleep. The entire twenty-four hours passes without major incident, unless you count Chimney tripping on a firehose and falling ass over teakettle on the freshly-waxed station floor. Theyâre still laughing about it as they get changed to go home the following morning, exhaustion making it hard to stop.
By the time he gets back to his apartment and collapses into bed, Buckâs tired enough that falling asleep is the easiest thing in the world.
He wakes late in the afternoon, hot and sweaty from the sunlight pouring in through the windows. He showers, eats a sandwich, and texts Eddie to ask what time heâs coming over.Â
Some sort of clarity must have crept in while Buck slept, because his head feels a little clearer. Still, he wonders what it means that a clear head feels like some kind of miracle these days. He thinks it means that he might need to talk to Frank again.
Buck grabs his phone and fiddles around on it until he pulls up his contacts. Frankâs name is sitting there right underneath Eddieâs. Before he can think about it too much, he calls and makes an appointment for his next day off. Part of him feels that old anxiety come back, worries that heâs slipping backwards instead of moving forwards, but another part of him is ultimately relieved. He doesnât have to worry about burdening Frank, itâs his job to listen. Heâs not allowed to be exhausted by Buck and his issues.Â
By the time Eddie arrives not long after seven, Buck has cleaned his entire apartment, gone grocery shopping to get that beer that Eddie likes, and watched a Nat Geo documentary on bears. Itâs been easy, simple, and heâs feeling okay.Â
Eddie lets himself in with a smile and a tupperware container, and even though they only parted ways that morning, itâs still good to see him. âHey, sorry Iâm late, Ana called just as I was leaving.â
And just like that, Buckâs stomach sours.Â
âShe called you?â
âYeah, I asked her to update me on Chris. She said heâs good, that theyâve just eaten dinner and heâs with his friends.â Eddie pauses, makes a face. âGuess that means I should stop worrying, right?â
âSo you guys just talked about Christopher?â Buck asks because heâs an idiot who likes to torture himself.Â
Eddie frowns, putting the tupperware on the kitchen counter. âYeah. What else would we talk about? I emailed the school his overnight care plan this morning and she just wanted to reassure me. Anyway, Abuela made you tamales, shall I put them in the refrigerator or dâyou wanna have them with the pizza?â
Buck still doubts that any other parents are getting personal calls from their kidâs teacher, but it makes him feel better knowing that Eddieâs only thought is the well-being of his son.Â
Maybe this whole Ana thing is something he should talk to Frank about, too.Â
âIâm going back to therapy,â Buck blurts, his brain to mouth filter nonexistent. âI have nightmares. I stopped talking about it because I thought I was being selfish but itâs fucking me up so. Yeah. Iâm going back to therapy.â
Eddieâs eyebrows hit his hairline. Buck silently begs him not to make a big deal out of it, and is relieved when all Eddie says is, âGood. Thank you for telling me. The tamales?â
A mildly hysterical laugh bursts out of Buck. He comes forward and wraps his arms around Eddie, so fucking relieved that after everything, he still gets to have this.Â
Eddie goes with the moment gracefully, pats him on the back a few times, and when Buck pulls away, Eddie leaves a hand on his shoulder and says, âIâm here for you. I know I havenât always been great at that before, but I am. You donât have to do this by yourself unless you want to.â
And Buck knows itâs true, can tell by the fierce determination in Eddieâs eyes, and thinks that maybe this means heâs not so exhausting to deal with after all. That maybe Eddie was exhausted with himself just a little, too.Â
âWeâre good, Eddie,â Buck says honestly. âIâm gonna call the pizza place, you take those tamales and the beer over to the couch.â
Theyâre one and a half movies, two pizzas and half a dozen tamales in when Buck opens his mouth and âSo are you and Ana dating?â comes out of it.Â
Eddie chokes a little on his beer. âNo? I donât really know.â
Itâs not quite the answer Buck was hoping for. âHow can you not know, man?â
Shifting uncomfortably, Eddie leans back on the couch until heâs looking up at the ceiling, like he canât meet Buckâs eye. âSheâs nice, and pretty, and good with Chris. I dunno, Buck. It feels like it could go somewhere?â
Buck swallows hard. He knew it. He should definitely have waited to have this conversation until after heâs seen Frank though, because he has no goddamn clue how heâs supposed to be the supportive best friend when every fiber of his being is burning with jealousy. Heâs not sure of the exact moment that he knew Eddie was it for him, but itâs been that way for so long now itâs become a part of who he is. He used to be good at pretending his feelings didnât exist, but heâs so tired these days.
But what he has with Eddie and Christopher right now is the best thing going on in his life â heâs not going to risk losing that.Â
âI wouldnât even know how to ask her out,â Eddie continues, laughing a little at himself. âOut of practice would definitely be an understatement, I have no clue what Iâm doing.â
Buck mirrors Eddieâs position, staring up at the beams under the loft. âI think you just say âwould you like to go out with meâ, Eddie. Itâs not that hard.â
âEasy for you to say,â Eddie snorts. âI bet no girl has ever turned you down.â
âHa, you should speak to Joe Levinson from high school,â Buck tells him. God, he thought Joe was so cute. He never told anyone, especially not his parents, and Maddie was off at college, but he used to trail around after Joe like a lovesick puppy. âWeâre talking the crush of all teenage crushes here, man. I was so gone on Joe and it was senior year and then prom was coming up, and Iââ
âOh no,â Eddie laughs, âyou got turned down?â
âI got humiliated,â Buck grins. âI thought Iâd go classic, yâknow? A love note in the locker, little hearts doodled on it and âI really like you, will you be my prom date?â written in glitter gel pen. Imagine my surprise when the next morning my note is not just in Joeâs locker, but on the front of every single locker, in the halls, the cafeteria, even the damn teacherâs lounge. He made sure the last few weeks of high school were not good ones.â
âWaitâŠâ Eddie tips his head sideways, confusion written on his face. âJoe was a boy?â
Shit. Buck isnât ashamed of being bisexual at all, but it occurs to him now that he hasnât actually told anybody besides his sister. âUh⊠yeah?âÂ
âDid you just come out to me?â
Buck shrugs. âI kinda forgot you didnât know?â
Their faces are pretty close at this angle, their heads cushioned by the back of the couch. Eddie doesnât look hostile or disgusted though. He looks thoughtful.Â
âThat was really brave,â he eventually says, quieter than before. âI canât even imagine asking a boy out in high school.â
Thereâs something in the way he says it that gives Buck pause. âDid you want to?â he asks carefully.
âIt wasnât an option.â Eddie doesnât sound sad, just matter-of-fact. âBesides, I met Shannon in college. And I really loved her, Buck. There were⊠occasions, while I was in the army, but I never acted on it. Iâd made vows, they meant something to me.â
Buck canât look away from Eddieâs face, pulled in by the wide-eyed openness and the thought that he didnât know this about Eddie â that they didnât know this about each other.Â
âAnd now?â he asks, not sure why heâs whispering.
âNow I donât know,â Eddie says honestly. He licks his lips. Buck couldnât tell you which of them moved first but all of a sudden their lips are touching, pressing. Itâs dry, a little chaste, but most definitely a kiss. Buck shifts, brings his hand up towards Eddieâs face, and barely touches his jaw before Eddie is springing backwards, shock written all over him.Â
âBuck, Iâm sorryââ
âNo, dude, that was all me, I was totally over the line.â
âWe just got â caught up in the moment,â Eddie says, and Buckâs not sure which of them heâs trying to convince.Â
âYeah, all that talk about dating and my tragic high school trauma. Woulda been weird if you hadnât wanted to kiss me,â he smirks, aiming for cool and cocky and probably missing by several miles.Â
Eddie lets out a bark of laughter thatâs more panic than amusement. Theyâre quiet for a minute. Eddieâs knee is still pressed against Buckâs, warm and solid. Buck doesnât know whatâs happening here but he knows he really liked kissing Eddie, can still feel his lips tingling. He knows heâs not going to lose Eddie over this though, canât lose him. Heâll do whatever it takes for that not to happen.
âIt was a moment,â Buck concludes, for both their sake. âMomentâs over.â
Eddieâs throat visibly bobs when he swallows. âRight. Yâknow, I should probably take off. Beforeââ
He cuts himself off. The tips of his ears go bright red. It takes every ounce of willpower Buck has not to ask him âbefore what?â
He follows Eddie across the apartment to the door, but he really doesnât want this to be weird when they get to the station in the morning. He lays his hand on Eddieâs forearm and asks, âWeâre okay, arenât we, Eddie?â
To his relief, Eddie smiles and it seems real. âOf course, Buck. Nothingâs changed. Iâll see you tomorrow.â
As he lets himself out, the door closing softly behind him, Buck canât help thinking what a bad liar Eddie is. Of course something has changed. Everything has changed. That kiss will hang over them for the rest of their days as partners â as friends. You donât just âaccidentallyâ kiss your best friend and then act like it didnât happen.Â
Buck wanders into the kitchen, fists his hand in his hair, scrapes them over his face, repeatedly bangs his forehead into the cupboard door. Stupid stupid stupid .Â
Restless, he clears away pizza boxes. Drops empty beer bottles into the recycling. Seals the lid on the tupperware and puts the remaining tamales in the refrigerator. Shuts off the TV â how didnât he notice the movie was still playing?Â
Heâs wiping down the kitchen counters when thereâs a knock on the door.Â
Eddieâs standing there on the other side, looking just as wide-eyed as he was when he left.Â
âHey,â Buck says uncertainly, ignoring the swoop in his stomach. âYou forget something?â
âYes,â Eddie says and he takes a step forward, holds Buckâs face in his hands, and crashes their mouths together.Â
This kiss is nothing like their last.Â
Eddie is demanding, relentless, tongue tracing the seam of Buckâs lips straight away until Buck opens up for him and everything gets hotter and wetter and so much more amazing. His own hands, which had been floundering in surprise, land on Eddieâs waist and Buck walks him backwards until his back hits the open door and closes it with a bang. He leans into Eddie with all his weight, pushes him against the wood, shoves their hips together and groans the filthiest sound heâs ever made into Eddieâs mouth.
Itâs incredible, feels absolutely perfect. Buck moves his hands, slips them under the soft fabric of Eddieâs shirt, finding warm skin and hard muscles and a stomach that trembles when his thumb flicks over a nipple.Â
With a gasp, Eddie pulls back and smacks his head against the door. Buck removes a hand and places it gently behind Eddieâs head to cushion it, kissing a lush apology to his lips.Â
âYou feel so good,â Eddie mumbles. âBuck.â
Buck kisses down Eddieâs neck, their stubble rasping, his lips fluttering over Eddieâs thundering pulse. He shoves their hips together some more â once, twice, and again because he canât stop â and he can feel Eddieâs dick through their jeans and heâs so turned on he can hardly breathe.Â
âWe should talk,â he says to Eddie, breathlessly, âbut first we should fuck.â
âBest idea youâve ever had, Buckley.â
A grin spreads across Eddieâs face and Buck copies it, kissing him again because he just canât help it and grabbing his hand, dragging him away from the door and up the steps to the loft.
Two orgasms, one set of clean sheets and one shower later, Buck feels brave enough to say, âI want this every day forever.â
Eddieâs nearly asleep, head right next to Buckâs on the pillow, one arm slung across Buckâs stomach. He cracks open an eye and presses a tiny kiss to the corner of Buckâs mouth.Â
âGuess weâre on the same page then.â
âI donât want you to date Ana.â
The other eye pops open, trademark Eddie Diaz exasperation all over his face. âBuck.â
âJust checking!â Buck laughs, drawing patterns on Eddieâs arm. âYâknow, Iâm still gonna need therapy.â
âIâd be worried if you didnât. Unless sex really is a magic cure.â
Buck tries to smile but instead finds himself softly saying, âI might have a nightmare.â
Eddie kisses him again, for longer this time, then shifts closer and nuzzles his nose into Buckâs temple, his hair. âIâm not going anywhere. Go to sleep, Buck.â
They settle in, warm under the blankets, and Buck closes his eyes, falling asleep quick and easy, between one breath and the next.Â

Climate change is really about prosperity, peace, public health and posterity â not saving the environment
by Ezra Markowitz and Adam Corner
What will it take to get people to connect to the climate change story? mauro mora/Unsplash, CC BY
The story of climate change is one that people have struggled to tell convincingly for more than two decades. But itâs not for lack of trying.
The problem is emphatically not a lack of facts and figures. The worldâs best scientific minds have produced blockbuster report after blockbuster report, setting out in ever more terrifying detail just how much of an impact we humans have had on the Earth since the dawn of the industrial revolution. Many people believe anthropogenic climate change â rapid and far-reaching shifts in the climate caused by human activity â is now the story that will define the 21st century, whether anyoneâs good at telling it or not.
Nor is it merely a problem of delivery. The past decade has witnessed an explosion of climate change communication efforts spanning nearly every conceivable medium, channel and messenger. Documentaries, popular books and articles, interactive websites, immersive virtual reality, community events â all are being used in increasingly creative ways to communicate the story of climate change. Many of these efforts are beautifully designed and executed, visually and narratively engaging and careful to avoid common traps and shortcomings that have tripped up previous efforts.
As communications specialists who have each spent more than a decade observing and studying how people, media and organizations talk and think about climate change, weâve come to understand that the climate change communication problem runs much deeper: Itâs baked into the nature of the issue itself.

Climate change is abstract, uncertain, unfamiliar, impersonal, diffuse and seemingly distant, even as the frequency of climate-related events continues to increase in many parts of the world. This is not to say that the well-documented and well-funded efforts to sow misinformation, doubt and denial arenât also real challenges facing climate change communicators and advocates; of course they are.
But even without explicit efforts to confuse and divide the public, climate change would still be a uniquely challenging issue to talk about in ways that motivate public engagement rather than inspire despair and fatalism.
The sad irony, of course, is that the story of climate change is in fact a deeply human one â we caused it, we will suffer from it and we alone can take action to avoid its worst consequences and prepare for the rest.
But shifting climate change from a scientific reality to a social, economic and political reality has proven extremely difficult. This is still primarily an âenvironmentalâ issue in many peopleâs minds, and that is a real problem for building a broad-based social movement around climate change.

Solve additional problems by tackling the first
Over the past few years, one suggested solution around this communications roadblock has been to tell the story of what are called climate change co-benefits.
The idea is simple and compelling: If the public wonât or canât get behind climate action for climateâs sake, maybe they will if all the many nonenvironmental benefits of reducing carbon emissions are brought to the foreground. Hence, climate change as a threat to public health, to national security, to social mobility.
Traditional co-benefits framing tells the story like this: If humanity does something about climate change â if we reduce carbon emissions through massive investments in renewable energy and retrofitting of inefficient buildings, if we improve resilience through investing in green infrastructure, nature-based solutions and all the rest â we will not only solve the climate change problem, weâll also reduce economic inequality, improve public health, reduce threats to national sovereignty and geo-political stability, and generally make peopleâs lives better.
These and many other co-benefits of aggressive and proactive action on climate change are real, and they will very much improve the lives of billions of people living on this planet today and in the future. But is this the best way to talk about the issue in service of building a powerful social movement?
The problem with the standard co-benefits narrative isnât that it distracts too much from the core climate change challenge (it doesnât), nor that it is somehow manipulative (itâs not) or simply not necessary (it is).
We suggest the problem is that it still leaves too much of the focus on climate change as an environmental or scientific issue while relegating all the other things people often care more about â addressing rampant inequality, increasing access to affordable health care, improving peopleâs material and emotional lives â to the background.
Leading with âif you really cared about your pet issue, then climate change should be your priorityâ is neither welcoming and inclusive nor likely to succeed in building a broad base of support for aggressive action on climate. Condescension rarely wins converts.

Rethink which benefit drives the story
But that doesnât mean advocates should necessarily give up on co-benefits. Maybe they just need to flip the script on its head â to lead with and keep the focus on the nonclimate benefits of aggressive decarbonization and adaptation efforts. Maybe âaddressing climate changeâ should be treated as the co-benefit rather than the leading motivation for action that could materially help billions of people, today and in the future.
Ultimately, the most effective long-term approach to getting diverse audiences to engage deeply with climate change may require that advocates stop treating it as a standalone problem that could benefit from being linked to other topics many people care more about. Instead, advocates may need to fundamentally rethink and alter the way they talk about and position climate change as an issue in the first place.
If climate change is now becoming a meta-narrative against which all other stories play out, perhaps no one needs to argue that decarbonization of the global economy will produce some health benefits or improve peopleâs well-being. Perhaps the best strategy is to simply say that climate change is a health risk, a risk to peace and prosperity, a risk to humanityâs survival â that the climate change story is our story as a species.
This is not about mobilizing the muscle of co-benefits to make the climate change narrative more robust or appealing. Itâs about merging the co-benefits and climate change itself so thoroughly that they become one and the same.

 Previously:
"Room 309A." And with that, she was off to 309A. She took a seat in the chairs provided out there. She decided it was best not to pace and to just sit and let her foot anxiously bounce. She checked the time. It was 5:09 p.m. 'Lord, what a long day,' she thought. After 7 minutes of sitting quietly, she began to drift off in the seat. Jordyn couldn't stop herself. She was so tired.
She was later forcibly awakened to someone shaking her shoulders.
 âč
JORDYN SHOT UP IN HER seat.Â
"Huh?" She looked around groggily. There was no one around her but a couple nurses down the hall, quietly talking to each other. She groaned, her head spinning from how quickly she sat up. Her head is still pounding from when Bowers smashed her head onto the rocks at the creek. She shook her head, trying to get rid of the pain.
'What the hell just touched me?' She thought to herself. She barely had time to think about that matter because soon, running down the hall, was the Denbrough's, all looking worried, anxious, scared, the whole works. Sharon Denbrough, Georgie's mother, was the first to see Jordyn and she gasped, making Jordyn shoot out her seat.Â
Sharon made her way over to her and she didn't know what to expect from her. Would she yell at her? Cry? Thank her for saving her child? Would she hit Jordyn, thinking that she was the one who hurt Georgie? She couldn't help but tense up when Sharon Denbrough wrapped her arms around her and sobbed on her shoulders.
"Oh my god, Jordyn. Thank you so muchâŠ" Sharon praised her as she hugged her tighter. Jordyn bit her lip to conceal her groan at the pressure of the hug being applied to her bruises on her ribs and, not wanting to get blood on the older woman's clothes, decided against hugging her back. When Sharon pulled away, she looked down at Jordyn and gasped at her appearance, making Jordyn feel very self-conscious.
"They didn't check you into a room of your own?" Zack Denbrough, Georgie and Billâs father, asked Jordyn, staring down at her bloody clothes, cuts, and bruises.
"No, Mr. Denbrough, I'm okay. I got those a while ago," She explained, motioning to her bruised legs. She knew that Mr. Denbrough knew she was lying but she decided against ratting Henry out, she didn't want to deal with that right now. "I just wish I could shower and change at least... Did they tell you what happened?"
"They said that Georgie was brought to the hospital by you and was in surgery. I've never been so scared in my life," Mrs. Denbrough said, her voice shaky. "What happened?"
Jordyn thought about talking about the clown. She was seriously considering saying it. But she didn't want one of the only families who weren't racist or gave her dirty looks to turn on her. Anyways, who would believe her? They'd think she was crazy and that she was responsible for what happened to Georgie. She decided to lie.
"I honestly don't know how it happened. I was walking home in the rain and I heard Georgie screaming... I ran over to him and scooped him up and... his right arm was gone," Mrs. Denbrough gasped, her eyes brimming with tears. She must've not known the details. God, Jordyn felt terrible. She continued, "I was in shock. I ran all the way from Jackson Street to the hospital. When I got here they immediately took him into surgery. I've been sitting here ever since." Jordyn finished. The Denbrough's were in shock. She looked behind them and saw Bill Denbrough, who had tears running down his face. It was such a heartbreaking thing to look at, she wanted so badly to go over and comfort the boy.
"The blood... is that...?" Mrs. Denbrough asked, fear in her eyes, almost as if she didnât want to know the answer.
"Georgieâs? Yes, it is..." Jordyn answered, feeling terrible that she had to break the news to Georgie's family. She felt guilty, as if this was her fault.
"Oh my God," Mr. Denbrough exclaimed as the realization dawned on him. Mrs. Denbrough buried her head in her hands. Bill just stared at the ground. Just then the doctor came down the hall and stopped before them.
"George Denbrough?" They all turned around to look at him. Mrs. Denbrough spoke out first.
"That's my son! Is he okay?" She asked desperately, going up to the doctor.
"George is okay. We managed to stop the bleeding and he is getting blood transfusion right as we speak. He is stable and resting right now, and should wake up in a few hours. You got lucky, he must be a natural-born fighter..." The doctor commented and smiled.Â
Everyone let out a breath which no one knew that they were holding and Mrs. Denbrough hugged the doctor. He soon left, most likely going back to work, and Mr. and Mrs. Denbrough decided to go to the cafeteria to get some coffee, not before hugging Jordyn once more and praising her for saving Georgie's life. Jordyn had never thought about it as saving his life, which she found quite funny. Because now she was a lifesaver, something she never thought she would be.
Bill had decided to stay with Jordyn, in the waiting room. They sat in silence, Jordyn was trying to figure out whether it was a comfortable one or not. Bill was looking down, coughing occasionally. He was in his pajamas too. Poor kid was probably sick. Just then Bill spoke up.
âH-how did y-you get th-th-those bruises a-and c-cuts?â Bill stuttered out. She almost forgot the thirteen-year-old dealt with that. She also knew Bill has had his incidents with Henry, which caused her heart to wrench at the thought, and felt that she could trust him.
"A while before I got to Georgie, I had a run-in with Henry Bowers and his goons down by the creek," Jordyn explained to Bill, causing him to look up, worry in his eyes. "I'm fine, they were mad at me, roughed me up a little bit and almost drowned me down there but they left before that would happen.â
Bill still looked worried and said, "Y-you sho-should've been ch-checked into y-your r-room." He coughed then, covering his mouth. "Y-you c-could have w-w-w-water in yo-your lungs."
"I'd rather not deal with that right now. This is about Georgie, not me." Jordyn told Bill. He opened his mouth as if to protest against what Jordyn was saying, but she beat him to it. "Okay, Bill? Promise me you won't tell them about what I just told you..." Bill looked hesitant and Jordyn gave him a look, pleading with him.
"O-okay, fine. I p-p-promise." Jordyn sighed in relief, leaning back into her chair. It was silent again. It felt comfortable to Jordyn. Breaking the silence, Bill spoke up, once again.
"Thank you," He whispered but Jordyn couldnât hear him.
"What?" She asked, genuinely confused.
"Th-th-thank you. I-I-I n-never got a-around t-t-to thanking y-y-you, for G-Geo...Georgie. He's alive b-because of you. I d-d-don't know w-what would've happened i-if he was gone. I-I love him s-so much. He's s-s-so youngâŠ" Jordyn heard his voice was cracking, making her heart clench. She scooted closer to Bill and wrapped her arms around him, hoping a hug would help and that he wouldnât mind that sheâs touching him. He responded by leaning into her touch, getting even closer to her, which made Jordyn smile.
âHey, you guys donât have to thank me for anything,â She whispered to him, her chin on his head, closing her eyes as she rubbed his back, comforting the smaller boy. Just then their silence was, for the third time, interrupted by someone clearing their throat. Jordyn and Bill pulled away slightly, facing whoever made the noise. It was two police officers.
 âč
The police officer, whose name tag read âMillerâ, spoke. âHello, are you Miss Garcia?â Bill and Jordyn looked at each other then at the officer.
âYes that is me⊠Is there a problem?â Jordyn asked, feeling uncomfortable underneath the two officersâ gaze.
âMiss, you need to come with us,â the other officer informed her, his nametag read âKellyâ.
âW-why?â Bill asked him, wondering, just like Jordyn, why the police was there for her.
âIt's just for a couple of questions. It's routine,â Officer Kelly explained. Jordyn didnât like this. Something felt off. She looked up at Officer Miller and made eye contact with him. She knew that look he had in his eyes. It was suspicion.
âI didnât do anythingâŠâ Jordyn told them, not liking where this was going. Everything in her told her to run but turning her back to police officers was not a good idea. At all.
âNo one said you did anythingâŠâ Officer Kelly, raising an eyebrow at her in suspicion. There it fucking was! Jordyn knew she wasnât jumping to conclusions.
âBut you do! You think I did something to Georgie! I can tell! I didnât do anything to him!â Jordyn said, getting very defensive, standing up now, Bill following her actions. The officers seemed very annoyed.
âHey, you lower your voice now, n*ggerâŠâ Jordyn thought she was going insane. Did Officer Kelly just⊠call her that? No, she mustâve been going crazy, her ears are deceiving her. Billâs eyes widen at the use of that word.
âYou are coming with us whether you like it or not,â Officer Miller said, an angry look in his eyes as walked over to Jordyn and aggressively grabbed her wrists, placing her in handcuffs. She gasped at how tight they were, the metal pinching her skin. âYouâre a terrible person⊠his arm? A six-year-oldâs arm? You are going to rot in prison, n*gger.â
âG-get off her!â Bill yelled, trying to pry Officer Millerâs arms off Jordyn.
âBack off kid,â Officer Kelly said as grabbed Billâs arm. âWouldnât want your n*gger friend here to get charged with resisting arrest as well.â This just angered Bill to no end. Just then, thank God, Mr. and Mrs. Denbrough come around the corner. They see us in this position and come running down.
âWhat is the meaning of this?!â Mr. Denbrough exclaimed when he arrived to the scene. âHey! Get your hands off my son, right now!â Officer Kelly quickly let go of Bill.
âWhy is Jordyn in handcuffs?â Mrs. Denbrough asked, looking scared and worried.
âM-mom! They w-were arresting her b-b-because they cl-claim she attacked G-Georgie! They w-wa-ant her in jail and are r-racist too!â Mrs. Denbrough gasped. Jordyn winced as Officer Millerâs grip got tighter. Jesus, the bruises just keep coming. âTh-they were calling her the-the n-word and told me th-they would cl-claim that she was re-re-resisting arrest as w-well.â
âWhat?!â Mrs. Denbrough yelled out. âYou get your hands off her right now!â
âMaâamââ Officer Kelly started but Mrs. Denbrough was not taking any of his shit.
âI honestly cannot believe you would even consider the possibility that she could do this! Get your hands off her right now!â Mrs. Denbrough said, getting in the officerâs face. Jordyn was shocked at how angry Mrs. Denbrough was.
âIâm bringing this up to your bosses!â Mr. Denbrough exclaimed, looking infuriated.
âWe are just bringing her in for some questions,â Officer Kelly looked kind of nervous. He was trying to cover it up.
âIf a minor is in custody of the police, it's illegal to question them without a guardian present,â Bill said, very âmatter-of-factlyâ and at that moment Jordyn wanted to kiss the boy.
âYes, that is true, and so I say, once again, you get your grimy hands off her right now,â Mrs. Denbrough looked about ready to kill. Officer Miller uncuffed Jordyn and she took a step towards the Denbroughâs. Mr. and Mrs. Denbrough immediately moved to stand in front of her, creating a barrier between her and the cops. Bill was holding her hand which caused her to blush.
âOkay since this isnât going anywhere, weâll get in contact with her father and weâll all go down to the station,â Officer Kelly explained and Jordyn scoffed, good luck with that. Getting her father to do something other than go to work, get drunk and yell at her? Itâs damn near impossible.
âThank you,â Jordyn told the Denbroughâs after the cops left, the relief in her voice very evident. They were all looking at her, a mixture of relief, disbelief and anger on their faces, baffled at the fact that their townâs law enforcers would do this to a girl like Jordyn. Mrs. Denbrough went to hug her. Mr. Denbrough brought his oldest son into a bone-crushing hug, relief on his facial features.Â
After calming Billâs parents down, Bill and Jordyn began to explain the situation, making sure not to leave out any details. The adults then decided to take a walk to calm themselves and to figure out what they would do to make those officers pay. Which left Bill and Jordyn once again alone, only having each other for entertainment.Â
After a while of them talking, Bill decided to nap, since his cold was making his chest hurt. Jordyn sat in silence with he napped. Minutes later, the same doctor from before showed up and made eye contact with Jordyn, who immediately sat up the moment the man appeared. She was dying to hear about Georgieâs status.
âHow is he, Doc?â She asked, walking towards him so she wouldnât have to speak any louder and accidentally wake up Bill.
âHeâs doing just fine, the blood transfusion went well, his body accepted the blood with no issues. Heâs up right now if you want to see him,â the doctor explained to her.
âThank you so much, I was so worried,â Jordyn admitted, feeling utter relief to the news about Georgieâs condition.
âWell, thanks to you, the boy is alive. You can go talk to him but you have only a couple of minutes, he needs plenty of rest.âÂ
âThank you, so so much.â And with that Jordyn made her way down a few doors to Georgieâs room. She debated whether she should wake up Bill or get his parents to talk to Georgie first, since they were his parents after all, but Jordyn had to talk to Georgie first. The police were involved and her and Georgie had to get their story straight because the moment the word âclownâ would come out their mouths⊠Jordyn had an inkling that it wouldnât end well for her. She then reached the door. She sighed, knowing that what she was about to do would be quite challenging, and altogether selfish but it was for Georgieâs good.
 âč
Jordyn entered the room slowly, not knowing what she was about to see at first. The first thing she saw was darkness. The door opening shown some light into the darkened room. And with the hallway light she saw Georgie resting peacefully on the bed. The first thing she tried to do was turn on the light. The dark room was giving her a vibe she really didnât want right now. But the light wouldnât turn on.Â
âWhat the hell?â She asked herself. âYou mean to tell me, Georgie has been lying in darkness this whole time?â She thought to herself. After flicking the switch over and over again, she gave up and made her way over to his bed.Â
Just as she reached the middle of the room, lighting outside struck outside, causing light to flash all over the room for a split second. And in that split second, she saw something. Something that made her jump with a scream.
In the corner of the room was that clown thing, only this time it was way closer than last time. It was like over 6 feet tall, had the same white clothes, big head and red hair. She saw his bright yellow eyes and he was grinning at her. His sharp, rotten teeth were poking out and he was staring right at her. Jordyn put her hand over her mouth, muffling the rest of her scream, her eyes wide with fear. Just then, it was once again dark and Jordyn didnât know what to do. It could be anywhere. She could run but it would catch her and kill her, or she could she run and it would get Georgie. Jordyn could swear she had never felt this much fear in her life. She couldnât see. She was stuck. It could kill her right there. It could kill her and Georgie. Jordyn then heard a voice near her ear.
âYou interrupted my meal, Jojo-Bear,â Jordyn felt her hair stand at the back of her neck as she gasped at the name. Her mother was the only one who called her that. How did this thing know that name? âAnd youâre gonna pay for that. Buuuut not just yet⊠I can already tell youâre gonna be soooooooo much fun to play with.â
âJordyn, is that you?â Another childâs voice, which she recognized as Georgieâs, called out softly.
And with that, light suddenly flooded the room. Jordyn looked at Georgie and saw that he was very much awake now. Jordyn shuddered and then whipped around the room, looking for any sign of that clown.
âWhat are you doing? Why was it so dark before?â Georgie asked looking at her weirdly as she returned from checking the bathroom and then proceeded to check underneath the bed. Jordyn after checking that the coast was clear, well for now, sat down on Georgieâs bed, still really tense. Her mind was racing. What is that thing? How did it know her nickname her mother gave her? What did it mean by âfun to play withâ? Did she just imagine that? Thereâs no way it couldâve gotten in here⊠How did it even get in here?
Georgie saw Jordynâs conflicted face and felt worried for her. Even though he didnât know much about her, he knew she saved him from the evil clown in the sewers and that meant she was a good person. He tried again. âJordyn?â
This caused her train-of-thought to stop and she looked at him. His concerned face brought her back to reality and reminded her what she came here to do. After what just happened, she knew she had to do this, despite how guilty it made her feel.Â
âGeorgie. I'm sorry, I mustâve freaked you out,â she began. âI just came to check up on you. How are you doing?â
âIâm fine now. Iâm really tired though.â He stated.
âI bet you are, youâve been through so much today, if I were you, Iâd probably sleep for an entire month,â Jordyn joked, causing the six-year-old boy to laugh lightly at her comment. She smiled down at him and her eyes landed on where his right arm should be. The sight of the wrapped up stump brought tears to her eyes. She quickly wiped them away and decided to get down to business.
âGeorgie, Iâm about to tell you something very, very important and I need you to listen to me very carefully,â She stated, her voice going serious. Georgie could tell by her tone that she was going to say something vital. He nodded and waited for her to continue.
âGeorgie, you can not tell anyone about the clown,â Jordyn implored. This seemed to take Georgie aback.
âBut why? Heâs the one who hurt me," Georgie countered, not getting why he shouldnât tell anyone about the clown. They would put him away. Because he did something very bad to him. Like permanent time-out, forever.
âGeorgie, I know I may sound weird but bear with me,â Jordyn said, trying to figure out how to word her next sentence. âWe have to lie because no one will believe us.â
âWhy wonât they believe us?â Georgie asked and Jordyn sighed, racking her brain for the right answer.
âGeorgie, they wonât believe us when we tell them a clown attacked you because it sounds crazy and made-up,â Jordyn tried her best to explain.
âButââ Georgie began but Jordyn didnât let him finish. She was going to try to convince him using another way.
âGeorgie, the police, they⊠they donât like me,â She admitted. Georgie was confused once again.
âWhy donât they like you, Jordyn?â To him, he seemed like a really nice girl, not to mention that she saved him, again.
âThey donât like me because of the color of my skin,â She truthfully told him, letting that information sink into the boy.
âThe police are one of those people?â Georgie asked, seeming shocked that the people that are supposed to protect him and keep him safe are mean to people with darker skin. âThe mean people who donât like others because they are born different than them?â
âYeah,â Jordyn was surprised at how smart Georgie was at such a young age. The boy never understood why people didnât like people with darker skin, they were born that way, they arenât bad at all. His mom told him to stay away from people like that.
Jordyn continued. âSo since they donât like me, when they think we are lying, theyâll think I was the one who hurt you, and that I made you lie to them, and then theyâll take me away for a long time. Do you understand that Georgie?â The boy nodded his head. He didnât want her to go away. He liked her here. She made him feel safe.
âI donât want you to leave, Jordyn,â he said, tears brimming his eyes and his bottom lip quivering. Her heart ached for the small child.
âOkay, then letâs make up a story to tell the police.â Then it seemed to click in Georgieâs mind.
âYou want me to lie?â Georgie asked, his eyes widening in shock at what Jordyn wanted him to do.Â
âYes, please, please do this for me, Georgieâ she begged the little boy.
âBut Mom and Dad say to always tell the truth,â the child countered. Jordyn sighed, knowing sheâd have to persuade him again.
âItâs just this once, Georgie, because remember if we tell the truth then Iâll get taken away, to some bad, bad place. And whatâs gonna happen if the clown shows up again? Iâm gone and no one but us knows he exists, who is going to protect you from the evil clown?â Jordyn insinuated. Then Georgie fully understood but he was hesitant.
Jordyn, on the other hand, was feeling as if she was the biggest piece of shit person in all of Derry. The whole situation was just awful and selfish and she couldnât even believe she was doing this to the poor child. She was asking this little boy to lie so she could protect herself. She felt absolutely pathetic.
She tried to reassure Georgie once again. âBut itâs okay for now, because I killed the clown.â She lied to him.
âYou killed him?!â Georgie said, not believing it at first.
âYes, I killed him and I have stick around to protect you, just in case he comes back to life somehow and tries to hurt you again. I donât want you to be alone. Iâll protect you every day. Iâll become your babysitter! How about that?â
After thinking it over, the little boy nodded his head. âOkay, I wonât tell anyone about the clown.â
âAnd by anyone, that means anyone and everyone. That includes Mommy, Daddy, your friends at school, the police, strangers, teachers, adults, everyone. And Bill, too. Especially not him. Not unless I say so. Promise?â Jordyn asked, just to be sure. Georgie nodded, understanding that he had to keep this secret a secret as if his life depended on it.
âI promise.â
âOkay, weâll tell them that an animal weâve never seen before attacked you. We canât describe it because it moved too quickly and itâs scary for you to remember. And that, you saw me grab you and tell you Iâm taking you to the hospital but that you canât remember anything past that because you passed out. Then, Iâll say I arrived after it... took your arm and that I caught a glimpse of it but then it disappeared. Then I carried you to the hospital.â Jordyn explained, and Georgie nodded, knowing what he had to say in order to keep Jordyn from going to the bad place the mean policemen would take her. He saw it as a way to repay Jordyn for saving him, instead of lying. He viewed as saying thank you to her. Jordyn sighed in relief and leant down to kiss the youngest Denbroughâs forehead.
âThank you, Georgie, you have no idea how much this means to me,â Jordyn continued, feeling glad that she managed to convince Georgie. She told the boy to rest because their time was up and that when he wakes up again his mom and dad would be here to check up on him.Â
Before she left, she made sure to do another check around the room to see if that clown was still there. After making sure that it was just Georgie in his room, she made her way out, back to the waiting room, slightly feeling as if she was being watched. Little did she know, there was a red balloon, floating right next to Georgieâs window, the entire time.
 âč
Weeks later, after the whole incident, Georgie had been released from the hospital and was now making a nice recovery. Mrs. Denbrough had brought both Georgie and Jordyn to the police to give their statement, since Jordynâs father seemed to disappear more than usual after Georgieâs attack, she never got the chance to bring the topic up to him.Â
Jordyn had a hunch that he was avoiding her this week, he which he chose the perfect week to do, might she add, and it angered her but at the same time, she felt relieved. She doesnât want to have to deal with her fatherâs wrath after having to ask him to join her down to the police station. Her father isnât exactly the nicest man alive. She really wasnât lying when she said that getting her father to do anything other than go to work, get drunk and yell at her was impossible.
Furthermore, Georgie had kept their promise and didnât tell the police about the clown. Their stories had matched and despite how hesitant and suspicious the officers, they were free to go. Soon the police were searching for some made-up wild unidentifiable animal, mostly a bear or a mountain lion of some sort, and told the people of Derry to beware since it had brutally attacked a young boy.Â
At first, Jordyn felt bad that she was sending the police on a useless goose chase but it distracted them from her and at the same time, she liked knowing she was wasting those racistsâ time. It was like payback in her eyes.
Throughout the following weeks, the Denbroughâs settled down. Georgie was still getting used to being left-handed but he was happy with his family. Jordyn, after talking to Ms. Denbrough, had become Georgieâs and Billâs babysitter, like she promised Georgie. It was a win/win situation, if they really thought about it.Â
Jordyn came over every day, now having a reason to break her stupid promise she made to herself of never going out after her Bowerâs beating, she got to avoid seeing her dad, she was making money and she wasnât as lonely. Bill and Georgie were happy to have her around. After she warmed up to them, they soon realized that she was really funny and nice to be around.Â
Also, Jordyn thought that after the whole incident and talking with the police, everything would go back to normal. But nope. Jordyn soon figured out that word got around about her and Georgie really quickly and she was now known as a savior in Derry. She was even put on Derryâs breaking news on TV and was put on the front paper of the newspaper! She was shocked.Â
While she walked down the main streets of Derry or at school, more people stared at her and some even thanked her for her bravery but some racists just couldnât believe a black girl could do something good and glared at her even more. She just ignored them, like she always.
Also, Bill had introduced Jordyn to his three best friends, Stanley Uris, Eddie Kaspbrak and Richie Tozier. They accepted her really quickly and she hung out with them almost every day since she babysitted Billy and Geo almost every day. It was kind of awkward at first, hanging out with boys two years younger than her but she soon realized the kids were pretty cool. And after warming up to them they all just⊠clicked. She got along with all of the boys, forming different little bonds with all of them.Â
Her and Bill had more of a brother-sister friendship. They saw each other the most, so they knew most of each otherâs secrets. She was always looking out for the stuttering boy, and he was always looking out for her.Â
With Eddie, she had more of a motherly friendship with him. Even though she perfectly knew the boy could take care of himself and that he didnât need someone to smother him, since his overprotective mother did that enough, she couldnât help but feel like she had to protect the boy. She would always defend him when she could tell he was getting beaten down. He liked how she made him feel safe and how she gave him a sense of independency that his mother would have rather die than to give him.Â
Richie and Jordyn had a partners-in-crime type of friendship. Always helping each other when the other was in trouble, always doing little pranks on the other boys, joking around and teasing each other always. You could always hear them laughing at something, whether it was at each other, their dumb puns or their comebacks, they knew how to give each other a good time.
But with Stan, it was almost the complete opposite. They had a very laid-back type of friendship. They could always come to each other if they had to calm down, they would sneak out of each otherâs houses to have quiet walks late at night. They could talk about anything, about their day, controversial topics, anything that came to mind. They also had the best inside jokes, and whenever it was mentioned or referenced in any type of way, they would literally laugh their asses off while Bill, Eddie and a very irritated Richie would just stand there confused as to what just happened.Â
She was happy with her new friends and she soon realized she felt truly happy for the first time ever since her motherâs disappearance. A thing she swore she thought she would never feel.
But what was most important to her and put her on edge the most was the fact that she hadnât seen the clown since her encounter with it in Georgieâs hospital. After Georgieâs attack, a lot of kids had gone missing, so many have gone missing that the town has a curfew now, and it left a sinking feeling in her stomach. She almost felt guilty. But what could she truly do? No one would believe her.
She was constantly looking behind her back, always scanning whatever room she was going to enter before actually entering it, was constantly tense and she could get scared more easily, which Richie just enjoyed so much.Â
Her usually peaceful dreams had been plagued with nightmares of darkness, kidâs screams, yellow eyes and sharp, bloody teeth. It was tiring on her part, to act as if she wasnât fearing for her and Georgieâs life 24/7, and to have to reassure Georgie that it was dead. She hated always being on edge.Â
She felt as if she was being watched constantly and she wanted to crawl out of her skin and hide in a dark hole forever. But she had to be strong for Georgie and just ignore the feeling of being watched, telling herself that it was nothing but her paranoia and possible PTSD. But little did she know that she was correct about being watched.Â
A pair of gleaming, sinister yellow eyes watched her walk down her regular path she took every day to walk to school. IT could smell her fear and itsâ mouth watered. IT could just take her right then and there. But no, IT had to wait. After taking a peek into her mind, and saw it as a gold mine of fears. Behind the âbraveâ act this girl put up was a messed up, scared little girl.Â
âWhat if making her even more scared, made her taste even better?â IT laughed, knowing that he would have a lot of fun with her. She had no idea that that summer, which was rapidly approaching, would be a memorable one, but just because it was memorable, that didnât mean it would be a good one.

CyberBullying
Your children are being exposed to technology at younger ages today than ever before. With social media being ubiquitous in everyday life, playground bullying has evolved to take advantage of newer technologies too, just like everything else in our lives.
Parents, ask your child three questions:
Have You Cyberbullied Someone?
Have You Been Cyberbullied?
Have You Witnessed Cyberbullying?
100% of Teens answer âYesâ to at least one!
Children are often too young to realise the consequences of their actions or words and very often say mean things to each other without thinking about the repercussions. In the past, some of this was mitigated by the fact that names were perhaps called on the playground and after a while are forgotten. These days though, once mean things are said over electronic media such as mobile phones, Facebook, or other social media, they persist. This means that the victim sees them over and over again, often resulting in these hurtful words or images becoming in-grained in their minds. Not to mention the ease with which these things can be shared or spread to others, further compounding the bullying.
Significantly, mobile phones allow for far more than name calling or embarrassing images.
Cyberbullying can start fairly innocuously, texting a mean observation, a mild threat, making fun of the victim and similar. Where the problem starts is when the bully can see the negative effect that his/her actions are having on the victim. When this happens the bully then increases the activity to the point of harrassment, and in some cases domination.
The worrying thing is that this doesnât happen just between school periods but in extreme cases can happen in the night time when the child would normally be sleeping.
Hateful messages on mobiles are just the tip of the iceberg
If you suspect cyber bullying is happening:
The first thing to do is talk openly and honestly with your children about cyber bullying and make sure they understand the various forms it can take and that is not their fault, or that they understand the consequences of their bullying actions.
If you suspect that your child is being cyber-bullied, or even being the bully, we can help.
Using similar techniques to the NZ Police and global law enforcement, we are, in most cases, able to recover previously deleted text messages, chat logs, photo messages and images from smartphones and tablet devices.
We can also recover internet browsing history of these devices as well as report on the geo-location information stored on these devices if you suspect your child is being exposed to the wrong influences online and in the real world.
Once this information is recovered, we are able to provide a formal report on these findings and if necessary these reports can be used to take matters further with the relevant authorities.
Even if there is no direct evidence of bullying taking place, sometimes it is just good to know for your peace of mind.

Why Regression Testing Is Crucial For Every Mobile Banking App
Mobile-banking is increasing in prominence, and which is precisely why supplying a program for web visitors makes much awareness once it regards preserving enlightenment. Statistics reveal the range of mobile-banking users at the united states will proceed upwards by 133.5 million folks at 2014 around 161.6 million folks from 20-19. The trend will be to get an additional increase in recent many years to emerge mobile banking trades have been put to double from recent years before 2022.
Since the banking industry varies speedily, a program needs to become operational and kept professionally as a way to draw a huge quantity of end users. This care includes the debut of enhancements and upgrades upon demand. If such improvements come about, regression testing will probably have to guarantee the invention is not leading to insects or additional problems.
What's Regression Testing?
Each time programs are altered, even in case a slight upgrade is introduced, then the shift might have unanticipated implications. The purpose of the regression evaluation is always to produce certain the alteration has never contributed to pests or operation issues.
Regression exams need to be comprehensive to be able to supply the ideal effects.
There are cases of code alterations wearing plugins down that be seemingly entirely irrelevant to this shift. By way of instance, introducing a fresh geo-location module to some banking program can lead to consent problems. This type of blossom effect can be advocated, and that's precisely why regression testing cannot be achieved over just a few important functionalities.
Regression testing is critical for every single mobile program but more so that for banking program. Banking programs enable fiscal trades. Instead, they use personalized data which needs to be guarded at the finest way possible. Features are not the sole matter at stake here, and also a regression evaluation may perhaps not be dismissed.
DO-ing routine regression testing with each and every upgrade could cause various additional gains that warrant the time and also the linked cost.
The Unique Features Of Banking App Testing
Mobile-banking programs inhabit an exceptional area of interest. These applications services and products meet an extremely special requirement, and that's the reason why the topics are like those confronted with additional program developers.
Wish to increase your own productivity, culture and engagement?

Wish to increase your own productivity, culture and engagement?
69% of industry leaders imagine organization communications aid them to reach their own vision.
A current poll implies that seventy-three percentage of men and women who've not ever utilized cell phone banking program previously are anxious with protection. Even if folks using a cell banking program put in, most can use it only to look at on their balance rather than moving dollars to your others.
Of smartphone consumers, forty-two per cent imagine that their private info is incredibly risky when cellular banks has been being achieved, '' the analysis implies. It really is intriguing to find out that eighty-four per cent of those contested individuals think the setup of the program upgrade is just one among the greatest approaches to handle stability worries.
That really is actually the complete reason regression analyzing has exceptional traits and value within the business of portable banking.
Even though 6 7 percentage of all millennials use a banking program, there is even now a large populace that is fearful to get into and make use of a brand-new app (particularly if it regards executing financial trades). Programmers should operate to mitigate this kind of stability worries, along with regression testing of upgrades is a vital procedure.
Merchants understand that they will need to evolve, so although they cannot act immediately.

Merchants understand that they will need to evolve, so though they cannot act immediately.
However, there are actions that you may try to be sure that your company is open to ethnic shift.
Regression testing for mobile applications will become necessary to be certain the security of financial and personal data has been kept. This is simply not the only real reasons such a procedure is crucial each and every time, no matter the scope of the adjustment.
Giving customers the best possible experience
A regression evaluation is not practically owning a gigantic stability or statistics solitude dilemma. Additionally, it may also be in possession of a significant effect on usability.
Those that are not familiar using mobile banks might discover the method to become confusing as well as overwhelming. Insert an insect into your mixture, and also you receive yourself a position which is going to soon be hard to get a grip on. An individual which undergoes this kind of adventure could possibly be reluctant to provide the program another takes to.
Bugs may cause the lack of clients on account of inefficiency.
One hour of program downtime may cost an organization $100,000, a poll by ITIC implies. For a number of the organizations comprised in this poll, the expense of downtime arrived at 300,000 bucks each day. Not exactly 48 per cent of clients report they truly are most likely to quit employing a program should they truly are unsatisfied with its own performance. When a program's performance isn't up to level, 3 4 percentage of cellular app end users report visiting your contest to get a choice.
We dwell at a universe which is characterized with a motto. Shoppers have a whole lot of electrical power since they are easily able to switch amongst providers companies. Bugs resulting from the lack of regression testing may cause the lack of faithful clients and long-term financial consequences for that company.
Addressing technological changes
Updates are all frequently demanded to satisfy brand new OS or cell devices demands. Technologies transform all of the moment; point. The launching of the fresh mobile could cause serious problems for mobile program developers.
This sort of problems is dealt with through upgrades and regression testing inside this case will undoubtedly be asked to be sure the phone banking program offers a superb operation on every single potential stage available on the industry.
Your bank program will be probably used with a large range of clients. More than a few of those possess i-OS apparatus, a few rely upon Android tablets, a few will probably soon be obtaining the program by means of a tablet computer or some hybrid phone device. The purpose of regression testing will be always to be certain all these end users are receiving the exact bug-free encounter.
If crucial flaws are finally identified, they are sometimes mended until this launching.
Remember the regression testing differs out of re-testing. All these really are just two extremely crucial procedures, and also these two oughts to be happening.
Regression testing is completed following the launching of the program improvement for your role of distinguishing glitches and bugs. The moment a code mend is done about the grounds of this regression evaluation obtaining, re-testing is going to need to simply take location. This kind of method will be required to be certain the evaluation gets given the desirable consequence.
Therefore, when a short-coming is fixed and identified, the procedure doesn't finish there. Another evaluation might need to be achieved, and also when the fresh issue has been pin-pointed, far more repairs might need to be launched.
Ensuring regulatory compliance
There is yet another problem by which upgrades could possibly be deemed necessary. Mobile-banking is regulated by means of a pair of regulations aimed to guarantee standardization and purchaser security. These principles vary sporadically, and also the supplier is qualified to guarantee regulatory compliance.
Bankers, customer advocacy groups, and authorities have shared their own concerns regarding mobile-banking protection through discussion and marketplace conventions. Legislative alterations are carried outside to supply clients the exact identical caliber of experience, so no matter the service provider they select to get.
There continue to be issues and complications which can be dealt with inside this region. Mobile fiscal transactions are now being categorized as part of online ecommerce. Purchaser privacy legislation, human standards determined by finance associations and also the actions of this Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will probably all need to be taken under account.
It follows a mobile-banking program can not only be manufactured and also maintained stationary.
Even in the event, an individual expertise is Goodenough, alterations can possibly be required by means of a brand-new law targeted toward reducing solitude or cyber-crime threats.
Even though upgrades are still proposed attentively, code problems could result in unexpected after effects. Even should an easy solitude shift does occur, a regression evaluation will nonetheless need to be completed.
Regression testing can be an all-inclusive process which makes up about numerous facets -- cellular apparatus, operational technique and browser, and net connectivity variety, etc. By stability to functionality and database testing, then the procedure needs to pay for all of it.
Whilst regression testing might be intricate and resource-consuming sometimes, the consequences of not even moving throughout the entire procedure might be acute. If you're set on raising the prevalence of one's cellular banking program and escalating the variety of consumers, comprehensive testing throughout each and every measure of this manner is going to be deemed necessary.

This Boy - Chapter 27
~John's~ Friday came quickly that week. My birthday was a little over a week away, meaning Paul and I were suppose to get married then. I knew depending on how the meeting with the lawyer went, there was a possibility on postponing the wedding. I also knew I didn't want that. "John!" Mimi called from the bottom of the stairs. "Comin' Mimi!" I yelled back. I put on my best dress shirt and tie. A black long sleeve and my Quarrybank tie. I ran down the stairs and sat down at the table. Mimi turned around and placed two cups of tea in front of us. "Are you prepared for the meeting? Are you sure you don't want me to come?" Mimi asked. I chuckled at her persistency. "I'm ready, don't worry. Paul and I will be just fine." I told her as I sipped at my tea. "You two seem like such an odd pair. Like a married couple." Mimi joked, but my heart stopped when she said married couple. "You look like you've seen a ghost, John." Mimi observed. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. "All is well, Mim. Just a bit nervous for Paul, s'gonna be hard for him and all." I said, thinking of an excuse for my odd behaviour.Â
It wasn't completely untrue, I knew that this was going to be hard on Paul regardless of the outcome. "John, look at the time. You're going to be late meeting Paul, all because your lack of getting up on time." Mimi scolded me as she snatched my tea away. I looked at the clock and jumped up. "Bloody hell, you're right!" I grabbed my leather jacket and slipped on my boots. "Language, John Lennon!" Mimi called after me as I walked out the door. "Bye Mimi!" I called back. It was a typical rainy day in Liverpool. I tried to shield my shirt and tie as much as possible with my leather jacket as I made my way over to my fiancées house. I didn't usually knock anymore, but I didn't want to sneak up on Paul on a day like this. I knocked a silly "secret" knock. The door flung open to reveal a small Mike. "John!" He jumped onto my leg. "Hello, son!" I laughed and hugged him back. Paul came down the stairs slowly, smiling at me. He wore a white dress shirt with a pink carnation on the chest. "Lovely flower." I winked. "Was always me Mum's favourite. She always insisted I wear on when dressin' up." Paul cooed as he looked around to make sure Gin wasn't watching, pulling me into the house and placing a light kiss on my lips. "You look handsome." I told him. "We best get goin' though." I added. Paul gave Mike a hug and sent him back into the sitting room, and Paul and I made our way to the lawyers office. "Have ye heard from Stu?" Paul asked me as we walked. I handed him a cigarette and my lighter. "Nah, not since the other day. Probably busy plannin' the wedding, love." I told him. I wondered if Stu was going to attend mine and Paul's wedding. "Most likely, it's a hard thing t'do." Paul nodded in agreement as he puffed on his cigarette. "Are ye nervous?" I finally asked, noticing the long, drawn-out drags he had been taking on the cigarette. "A bit. I know we're not in any trouble, though. Just a bit stressful, y'know?" Paul admitted, throwing the cigarette out into a puddle. I thought I saw the sign for the lawyers office. I pulled my glasses out of my pocket and put them on. The sign read M. Edison, Attorney of Law. Paul was smiling at me. "I wish you'd wear your glasses more, you can barely see yer own reflection without 'em." Paul chuckled. "They just bug me face." I told him. "Should keep 'em on, though. Might need to read paperwork or somethin'." I shrugged as we approached the building. Paul took a deep breath. "Ready?" I asked. He nodded and brushed my hand lightly with his. We entered the building and approached a young blonde woman sitting behind a desk. "Ah, you must be Mr. McCartney and Mr. Lennon. Right this way." She stood up and gestured for us to follow her. We entered a huge room made out of dark wood and deep velvet. It was not a typical sight for Liverpool. Paul and I both let our eyes wander before we heard a man's voice. "Lovely to finally meet you. I'm Maxwell Edison." The short man stuck out his hand. Paul shook first. "Paul McCartney, pleasure." He smiled. I shook his hand next. "John Lennon." I smiled awkwardly. "Please please, have a seat. I'm very glad you were able to make it." Maxwell began to say as we sat down in the two large chairs in front of his humungous desk. "Thank you for your help. We hope we aren't any trouble." Paul spoke shyly. I kept my eyes dancing back and forth between Maxwell and Paul. I was watching Paul for signs of him being too upset, or overwhelmed. "What do ye need from us today, Mr. Edison?" I asked, trying to sound more polite than my usual self.  "I just need your perspective of the issue at hand,  what you've suffered since then and of course what you would like to happen to Jim McCartney." As Maxwell stated Paul's fathers name, I watched his back stiffen. "Go on," Maxwell sat back in his chair after clicking the record button on a small little tape machine. I looked at Paul curiously, waiting. "It all started after me Mum passed away. Dad got on the drink hard, started resenting me and me brother Michael. He told me he was moving us to Scotland, and I utterly refused." Paul paused to take a breath. "Take your time" Maxwell reassured him. I placed my hand on his thigh secretively to calm him, remind him I was there. "He lost it. He beat me worse than ever before, broke a few of me ribs and smashed a dinner chair over my head leaving me with a concussion. I was in he hospital for a couple of weeks, missed out on a lot of school. Thankfully me Auntie Gin from London took Michael and I in, and I suppose that's it until we got home from Hamburg." Paul's voice became shaky and weak sounding. Maxwell nodded. "What happened when you arrived back in Liverpool from Hamburg?" He asked us. Paul looked at me, I assumed he wanted me to answer. "Jim showed up at their home on Forthlin Road. Started demandin' his kids and home back. Paul basically just told him to get the fu- I'm sorry, can swear on record now can I?" I chucked a bit. "Paul told him to leave and never come back. Paul and I took his younger brother Mike to school, y'know, and went our separate ways. Jim followed me, began t'blame me for Paul goin' stroppy on him and he stabbed me in the back with a pocket knife." I told Maxwell, trying to sound as calm as possible to keep Paul composed. "Horrible. Absolutely disgusting. I am sorry this happened to you, boys." Maxwell apologized, lighting a very fancy cigar. "Do you think the consequences of Jim McCartney's actions should be those of the fullest extent of the law?" Maxwell asked. It took me a moment to process what he had said, it seemed like a lot. I looked at Paul, awaiting his response. "I do." Paul nodded. "What about yourself, Mr. Lennon?" I nodded. "Good. Because what you might not realize, is what he did to both of you is attempted murder. He can go to jail for the rest of his natural life if we go about this trial correctly, boys." Maxwell told us, quite proudly. He stopped the recording. "We will move forward with the trial with you, sir." Paul announced, rather happy with his decision. I nodded in agreement. "Wonderful. I will get it all prepared and contact Jim's lawyer. I will contact you personally when we have our first court date." Maxwell said as he stood up, extending his hand. We both stood up to shake his hand. "Thank you, sir." I said. We were escorted back out of the office by the small woman. I lit up a cigarette for myself and Paul as we exited. "That man gets things done quickly, doesn't he?" I laughed a bit as I handed Paul the cigarette. Paul chucked and nodded. "Are ye okay?" I asked as the rain began to pick up. "Yeah. Much less than I expected." Paul half smiled as he spoke. "I don't wanna burst your bubble, but I think it's the trial that will be most difficult." I admitted, taking a long drag off my cigarette. "We'll do it together and it'll be grand." Paul smiled and took my hand for a moment. "HEY!" We heard a yell behind us. Paul jumped 50ft in the air as he spun around. A sopping wet George and Ritchie approached us. "What are you lads doin' all dressed up?" Ritchie asked. "Had the meeting with the lawyer." Paul answered, almost too quietly under the heavy rain. "Bloody hell, have ye been outside all mornin'?!" I asked, laughing at their wet-dog appearance. They both chuckled. "Just moved out of me parent's place to stay with Ritchie. Gotta be an adult and all, me Dad says. Old enough to run away to Hamburg, old enough to live on me own." George explained, flashing his big teeth. Paul smiled widely, I could tell he missed George. "Practice tomorrow? Whaddya say boys?" I asked, bumping Paul with my elbow. "Yeah! C'mon over t'mine and Geo's." Ritchie suggested. "We best go before we catch the bloody plague out here, though. See ye tomorrow!" Ritchie said. The boys turned around and waved, running back down the street toward Ritchie's flat. I laughed at the sight. Paul remained rather quiet as we continued walking in the cold rain. "Paul?" I said, nudging his side lightly. "We're gonna have to postpone the wedding, aren't we?" He said, sadness washed over his face. I sighed. "We might have to. Trust me, m'love, I don't want to." I said as we walked up to the door of his home. "Maybe we should get a flat... Like, our own." Paul said as he stepped inside the door, me close behind. "I'd love that. Let's aim to get married before the year is out, though." I kissed him finally when the door was closed.  "Mike?" Paul said quite loudly, trying to find out if his brother had made it to school. No answer. "Gin?" Followed shortly after. I kicked my shoes off and undid my tie. "I feel like we did a bunch of shit today, I'm just exhausted." I mumbled as I stretched. "C'mon, lets go lie down in me room." Paul grabbed my hand and brought me up to his bedroom. He opened the door like a gentleman, lifting the covers and crawling in against the wall. I lied down beside him and pulled him into my arms. "Wanna tell me what's goin' through that pretty little mind of your's?" I asked, almost feeling how fast his train of thought was on my chest. "No, love. I just want.... I just want to be here. With you. Y'know?" Paul said softly, nuzzling his face into my neck and getting comfortable. He was most obviously worn out mentally and emotionally. "I understand, m'love." I smiled to myself and placed a kiss on the top of his head. Things were looking up.

Before making utilization of the development depicted to check for occupations you should isolate your activity require. You should check for such occupations that suit best of your capacities. Showing your own abilities fittingly can lead you to investigate through the development banks satisfactorily. Evaluation of your abilities close to your interests winds up being generally central. You in like way should consider your blocks. There might be occupations which are preposterously requesting, yet likely won't work for you. Thusly understanding your own potential results appropriately can make your journey to work a success.
There are such a basic number of affiliations offering on the web work classifieds and keeping up business banks that it winds up being troublesome for any person to go for the best one. Actually, even there are making occasions of affiliations faking with the activity classifieds. Starting here of view Freelance the load up bank can be insinuated for instance beyond any doubt as an alliance that has met any activity searcher's hankering with a beast, especially directed business bank in past and besides for a noteworthy timeframe to come.
The two directors who post vocations and occupation searchers who inspect for occupations can be normally profited by an online development portrayed in the running with ways:
Business classifieds when in doubt keep up a monster database of occupation postings. The term work banks should be shown here in perspective of its trademark similarity of having assets at any single place like any bank. Occupations are everything viewed as recorded in a managed way. You can discover occupations as appeared by your subject from your favoured gathering. The receptiveness of copious assets regardless of what you look like at it put beneficially keeps online business classifieds much before different techniques for occupation headways.
Demand is another fundamental bit of amassed work. Since the activity agile classifieds have a colossal database of employment to manage, the occupations are thusly amassed by explicit portrayals. An occupation dispersion can post in this activity bank any activity that organizes the most realistic portrayal. In the interim work, a searcher can stay to check for the pined for activity by essentially having a speedy take a gander at the classes consequently promising the demand.
Ads Classified Scripts locales can be additionally extended by building associations with key organizations that have a similar specialty of intrigue. In the Auto precedent, neighbourhood organizations, for example, car parts and frill stores, accident coverage providers and vehicle washing offices can be drawn nearer and offered free promoting space on the site. Not exclusively will such organizations be pulled in to your client base, yet their advertisements will likewise produce site action from their client base.
An objective region or regions should then be chosen for the ordered promotion site as a larger part of things regularly recorded on such destinations either can't be transported abroad or it is amazingly hard to do as such. Pet supplies might be effortlessly transported to removed purchasers, yet pets, firearms and autos move best in neighbourhood markets.
In an online activity organized, both an occupation advertisement spot and an occupation searcher can keep up a profile by basically enrolling and finishing the techniques. At whatever point an occupation fits the ability or fairly propensity of any activity searcher Free Web script, he/she gets educated all things considered updating the mission for work further.
By a long shot, most don't regard the intensity of cautiously made collected progressions. They think collected advancements are for offering vehicles, or discovering occupations, and not for growing a business. While it's genuine an arranged progression is an OK strategy to accomplish the recently referenced, it is correspondingly obvious that assembled advancements can be utilized to dispatch and extend multi million-pound affiliations.
Different affiliations depend only on this inconsequential effort notification to convey a liberal extent of their yearly turn over. The reason is the principal. When you have found how to outfit the power of these depicted headways, you truly won't have to run costly show advancements utilizing all methods.
Note that the key point about masterminded advancements is that they are best when utilized as lead generators, and not to offer from. In these headways, you are not attempting to impact somebody to encounter cash with you. You are attempting to perceive a potential client by having that client interface with you because of the business. Exactly when potential clients have isolated themselves, you would then have the ability to get up to speed with your standard postal mail offer for the thing or association you are advancing.
Making a persuading assembled headway is a boss amongest the most asking for sorts of copy creation. In twenty words or less, you need to catch the client's eye and engage them enough to activate them into calling you for more data. You can't depend upon eye getting charts or ace plans to get the looks at the thought.

I NEED A CAR INSURANCE EXPERT!!!?
I'm a first time driver (with provisional license)... I don't get it, why does insurance cost more (4000 - progressive) for 2005 Nissan Frontier then for a 2003 BMW z4 (2500 - Progressive).... and its not only that, it costs less for a corvette then for a v6 mustang... And its like that for all insurance companies from e-surance to Geico, can anyone explain why or if it even will be that much less?!?!? i mean its more for a BMW 325 4dr (2900 - progressive) then for the BMW z4... How is this possible... Will it cost even less if i get it on my mom's policy? Why does car insurance rates increase if you have a lapse in coverage?
For example, lets say I have car insurance and pay it on a timely matter and then all of a sudden I move to city where there is a lot of public transportation and my car breaks down. So, instead of worrying about my car I utilize the bus system as I cannot afford to have my car fixed, in turn I cancel my car insurance. Hypothetically lets say a couple months down the road I have a change of heart and am able to afford the repairs for my car. So now my car is up and running etc etc. Why is it that now when I sign up for insurance again my rates will be higher. My situation is that I have a vehicle but it is a lot older and it is broken down right now. It is going to be a few months before I can get it fixed. So, I thought of canceling my insurance bc I was wondering why should I pay insurance for something I am not driving. I, then, told my agent that once i got it fixed i would add the insurance back, he then told me what the consequences of my actions would be. Why do my rates go higher just bc I get rid of the insurance? It's not like I am doing anything illegal. I would not be driving the car bc it is broke down.""

best insurance company for a 16 year old driving a v6 or v8 camaro? my thought is that while a v6 camaro might be reasonable to insure a 16 year old driver with, the v8 wouldbe some unuearthly figure in the 8 digits. i know its based on SO many things, but im just asking if anyone has a HUNCH about what insurance company is the best/cheapest for a teen driving a camaro? assume its a v8, ad it cant get any worse if it ended up being a v6, if you know what i mean. btw dont say american faimily. they wont even insure a person with less than 5 years driving experience driving a v8 camaro AT ALL, let alone at a huge rate. finally, do you think there is any way on earth for insurance for a 16year old driving a (2000 lets just say for example) camaro v8? including all the little bonuses like good grades, clean record, etc. all of which i have. thanks so much for your answers! they REALLY help!""

Why insurance co. do so much not to pay out a fair claim?
Insurance co. will do anything to deny your claim. They make billions a year to pay out on fair claims but never do. It is ridiculious how they have charge people all this money for coverage that they dont even provide when it is needed. They will try every trick in the book to not pay out. They also ask you roundabout questions, than have there co. take it apart word by word than deny the claim. Have any one ever think about how they have very strict laws on people commiting fraud, but shouldnt they set laws for insurance commiting fraud to? They rip off people day after day that is a sort of fraud as well. Insurance co. have been getting away with this for many years it is time that this is stopped. Funny this is we cant live without them. If you have a car you HAVE to have insurance its a must. ""What kind of qualities should I look for when purchasing a car? ie insurance, modern elements...?""
For experienced buyers: As an entry level analyst looking to purchase a car, I was hoping to get some ideas about my first big purchase. My norm has usually been purchasing something and regretting it some time down the road ie Bought a Dell laptop, turns out it heats up a lot. Or a new smartphone (android), turns out it freezes plenty. So I want to purchase a car, and was hoping if someone who is experienced could possibly take some time off to tell me what I should look out for. I understand insurance is a *****, and even though cars are affordable on lease, the insurance will get you. My objective: Car : Lease a pre-owned or 2nd hand car, possibly 2012 or 2013 model, 4 door, sedan. Insurance : Max coverage, low payment (ideal but, shoot for the stars and....) Questions: I understand there are qualities or modern elements like lane stabilizer and effective cruise control that can reduce insurance coverage. How effective can they be? What kind of sedans have low insurance and are modernistic, such as built in navigation and those cool looking monitors? (kind of childish) Which insurance coverages are the most important, there is basic, comprehensive.... If you need additional information, I will be checking this question hourly and will be glad to provide additional information. Thanks!""

Thought I found a solution to high car insurance... Not so sure now?
He-yo.... I'm guessing any young newly qualified driver out there would of already found out is the shear cost of getting yer car insured. I know as I'm 18, male which supposedly makes me high risk so the cheapest insurance I got was 3820 and that's only for third party, and the car is only a 1.2 litre Renault Clio. My instructor mentioned that he heard a scheme that's being done for young new drivers, companies called: Young Banana & Young Marmalade The idea is that these companies have merged together with insurance companies to fill a gap in the market which is us young drivers. The scheme is that you buy a new car or a nearly new car with these guys and the car will come with affordable insurance. I had a look at it and decided to get a quote just out of interest with a new car. So I selected the nearly new car category and went with the new shaped Renault Clio. You can select to buy the car straight away or get it financed over a period of months with 60 being the longest, I got 150 monthly payment as the average which is just payment for the car. The first years insurance came as 1635, (got all excited and jumping, over - reacting) provided that your parents have a good record they are added to the policy for free. I was thinking that it was too good to be true, new car, affordable insurance. But then could be too good of a deal to go without some hidden catches. I dunno what makes me suspicious about these sites but the more I investigate into it the more I feel that this could become quite expensive. Here are the websites in question: Young Banana - http://www.togreenstreets.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=32 Young Marmalade - http://www.youngmarmalade.co.uk/index.php When I investigated Young Marmalade in more depth it was the insurance that got to me cause my first initial thought was that you pay for the insurance continually with them as long as you own the car, but it looks more like a 12 month deal that has to be renewed each time.... The car as well comes out cheaper then its usual retail price (if new) or usual price for its mileage (if nearly new) so I started to think that theres a one off payment at the end of the contract to own the car.. I don't dorm for college being how I live within the vicinity of my school. So that already kills off a few suggestions being how there's more insurance coverages out there for dorming students. What are some websites or companies that would have fairly priced insurance? I'm on a low income & I've tried applying for medicare, but that's a whole another issue I'd rather not discuss here. I've heard someone tell me something about Obamacare? & I also tried getting insurance from my jobs union but they have YET to send me my medical card in which I've just about given up in trying to obtain in the number of attempts I've called them about it... So please, if you know ANYTHING based on the above criteria, thanks.""

Is it a legal requirement to carry your car insurance documentation at all times?
Okay, this is the second time i've asked a question in the last two days but this forum is really interesting and gets me thinking. While I was at University, I was driving innocently along when I realized I didn't have my lights on. At that PRECISE MOMENT, I saw blue flashing lights behind me and the police pulled me over. He asked ''Do you know why I pulled you over?'' and I said 'Yes sorry! I didn't have my lights on''. He then proceeded to put me in the back of his police car and ask me questions such as name, address, telephone number, mobile telephone number, height, weight etc.. which I believed to be innocent questions.. but then the questions kept going down a quite frankly rediculous route and he asked me ''hair colour, eye colour, what are you wearing?, where are you going? why are you going there? etc etc and I started to wonder if he was taking the mick. Then after all that he asked for my car insurance documentation and driving lisence and I said I didn't have any on me except my lisence. He looked at my lisence, wrote down some information and gave it back to me. He then said ''do you realize it is an offence not to carry your car insurance documents with you when asked to produce them at the roadside?''. Again I apologized and said that I had no idea that this was the case. He then gave me five days to produce my photo and counterpart driving lisence and car insurance documents at the local police station or I would be arrested for failing to produce documents on demand. He then asked me to provide a testimony which would be read in court if I didn't produce the documents and so I said ''I'm terribly sorry for any inconvenience''. He then let me out. Suffice to say, the next day I took my documents to the police station for inspection. Is this standard proceedure?""
