wAiT you study urban planning that's sO COOL that's literally what i want to do, too- (i just started my first semester studying geography and am planning to specialise in urban planning for my masters!) this is so cool i haven't met many ppl who know this field even exists when it's actually the absolute coolest thing to be researching and working in!!!
YOO you're studying geography that's so cool! Usually urbanists come from the architecture field, whereas geographists specialize in rural or suburban land and I never really understood why because the fields are so close! At least that's my experience so far. But omg I'm wishing you good luck on your studies! Your master's as well, but you have lots of time for that (also, the fact that you just got in and already know your desired field?? Biggest flex)
Yes, it is!! And there are so many things you can do further research on in this field! As humanity changes, so do the cities, so this science is always useful!

Which courses in Canada are career friendly?
Tumblr media
In three words, the answer to that question is - all of them. After all, it’s Canada we are talking about, a multicultural society that warmly welcomes every academic aspirant from all over the world. Universities in Canada have more than 5000 global collaborations with reputed institutes that shape intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers. It’s no wonder that 90% of the graduates from Canadian Colleges get easy employment in less than six months of their commencement. But which course should you choose? That’s a question for your overseas education consultants. Here’s a guideline to get you started.
What are the courses that Canada is known for?
There are a plethora of specialisations to choose from. Have you considered a degree in communications and media from York University? You could consider Trent University for a master’s degree in Data Analytics. Perhaps you would appreciate a career in Information Technology. For you, there is the University of Toronto, not to mention McGill University and the University of British Columbia. For the engineering students who wish to hone their skills in AutoCAD, CATIA and other industrial software, Canada offers a wide variety of courses with accompanying scholarships and job placements. To that end, the median annual salary of engineers in Canada can be roughly estimated to be $81,700. But that’s not all. Besides the traditional and familiar guidance offered by business studies, engineering, and computer science, there are unconventional, newly emerged disciplines that have taken society by storm. These programmes aim to shape the destiny of our planet and preserve the integrity of our environment. From Agricultural Science and Forestry to Earth Sciences and Geo-Informatics, there is always a prospect that can be pursued. Ask your overseas education consultants for more information.

Civil Engineering vs. Mechanical Engineering: Which is a good career choice in India?
Every year, many 12th passed students with a scientific bent of mind apply for B.Tech programmes in engineering colleges all across India. But, it is observed that often aspiring engineers find it difficult to choose between civil engineering and mechanical engineering. Though both the areas of B.Tech specialization offer many career opportunities, it is important to know what is best.
Tumblr media
Read on to take an informed decision when it is about career choices…
Civil Engineering is related to the planning and design of a structure. It is basically about the infrastructure of a building. The students are taught about the construction and execution of the plan, which is often based on maps. The field deals with the planning and processing of ideas to create solid buildings. It includes specialised courses like geo-informatics, structural engineering, hydraulics, offshore structures and highway technology. Notably, civil engineering is not only related to the construction of buildings but also includes the structuring of bridges, dams, canals, airports, sewage systems, pipelines and railways.
In order to have the complete know-how of the subject, students must also put in efforts to learn about materials, geographic lengths, environment and the type of soil. In addition, the practice of civil engineering involves construction codes and laws related to environmental surroundings. As India is a developing country that needs to lay focus on proper planning and processing, civil engineering students get many opportunities to come up with innovative ideas for developing better structures. After pursuing this course, students can easily apply for jobs involving supervision, construction and design of public and private projects.
When talking about mechanical engineering, it is to be noted that the field deals with technology and machinery. Majorly, it is related to the manufacturing and production of goods and services with the help of advanced technological equipment. It is an integral part of areas of specialisation like tool engineering, machine design, mechanical system design and dynamics, and engineering design and analytics. In the early days of this course, students are made to study various principles like physics, material science, analysing, manufacturing, dynamics, electricity and thermodynamics.
In addition, the course curriculum involves calculus, geometry, linear equations, fuel technology, control systems, logistics, automobile, and Algebra. To be a good mechanical engineer, one needs to have complete knowledge in fields of computer-aided manufacturing, product life cycle management, robotics, heating and cooling mechanics, and design and production of machinery. Notably, mechanical engineering courses began in the era of Industrial Revolution. After pursuing this course, one can aim to be an aerospace, nuclear, maintenance or automotive engineer, CAD technician, and control and instrumentation engineer.
In India, many students go for civil engineering than mechanical engineering due to the following reasons:
· It is a growing sector in India.
· It deals with the development and growth of infrastructure in India.
· It has a huge scope of providing employment to the students.
· It offers a number of career options to students.
· It offers well-paying jobs, especially in the public sector.
· Civil engineering courses let students undertake research projects wherein they can study and discover more efficient technical equipment to reduce manpower.
As a developing country, India is in need of well-planned infrastructure. And considering Indian government’s approach of developing world-class infrastructure in the country, goods days are here to stay for civil engineers. Many research and surveys have also stated that the area of civil engineering is expected to grow about 19 per cent by 2020.
