actually wait I wanna talk about something I've noticed that I was literally just talking about and I think has to do with like. why people don't draw female CCs with their actual features. If I'm not making any sense just ignore me

So boobs and curves have been sexualized to hell and back despite the fact that they're not sexual features of a person, and this has led to the idea that boobs and curves are sexual.

Which leads people to think that drawing these features is sexualization, regardless of how much a streamer might actually just look like that. (not to jump away from women and misogyny, but it's why you see people in this fandom throwing a fit whenever a male character is drawn with these features, because they see them as inherently sexual)

So what you end up with is a bunch of people who try to make female and female presenting streamers as curveless and boobless as possible, which often makes them look just really skinny and flat and not like themselves at all.

Not to say that a large part of it doesn't come from people refusing to draw streamers with their actual body types in the first place, but I'd argue that this is a part of it and they work together to make it worse.

areus you are 1000% correct on this. people are so scared to "sexualize" anyone that they refuse to draw women accurately, even though its not sexualizing to show that niki has boobs. drawing her to look like a skinny eighteen year old boy is nuts. its weird and in an industry where female streamers are already pressured to be thin and follow conventional beauty standards its honestly awful.

drawing grian or scar or wilbur with boobs is not sexualizing them. its going oh wouldnt it be interesting or funny if this guy who doesnt have boobs had boobs. isnt gender so weird and funny and arbitrary. now i do get annoyed with how often people are willing to draw mcyt dudes in dresses or with tits but have never drawn a woman in their life-- that does get to me. okay, you can draw boobs. why dont you draw them on someone who actually has them irl? i genuinely dont have an issue with the scitties stuff it just annoys me that people in this fandom would rather draw a guy in a dress bc haha* than draw a woman at all. drawing male characters with boobs is great though. imo its akin to drag in a weird way but i dont want to get into the dynamics of drag and gender parody rn since that's not the point of this ask. regardless its cool and people should do it if they want but they should also draw women.

again, im not calling anyone out or saying this is across the board the case, just saying it can be a trend in fandoms. like all of this, im not saying anyone is doing this on purpose. misogyny is pervasive and systemic, just like most forms of oppression. thats why my biggest advice is to just look at your own behavior when you can and try to notice trends.

anyway aside from that element of things i dont have anything to add, your insights are very welcome! body image is a huge issue in media and i think attempts to "desexualize" female streamers end up being incredibly harmful.

*the "man in a dress" concept, btw, can be incredibly harmful and is often a transmisogynistic stereotype. im not saying it is here but i would encourage folks to think hard about when that joke is just about being horny over some guy's thighs and when its about how comedic it is that person who looks like, for example, scar (who has what society deems as "masculine" characteristics) is wearing a dress. again, i dont think this is the case for much of this fandom as most of you just seem to like drawing dudes in dresses bc its fun, which is great, but watch out for this stereotype in other forms of media. if you want more info on this please feel free to ask.

Ok I had 3 screenshots leaked to me before seeing the episode, but only one of them was spoiler-y in that I wasn’t sure if we’d get that far in the episode. And of course not only did I not leave work early, but had to stay an hour late. So without further delay, I’m hoppin to it. Reminder, I’m watching each episode as someone who is caught up with both the manga and web comic.

Alright, off the bat we’re getting the Charanko expulsion over with. I wasn’t expecting that, but it makes sense- it’s a good hook to lead with and set up the Garou issue before actually getting into Garou destroying everyone.

BTW I am Still not over the opening theme- nope it still gets me both visually and musically. (I definitely was not listening to the song on repeat at work all day. nope. what kind of nerd would do that definitely not me hahaaaaaa)

It’s only been twice now and it’s still during establishing character moments so it passes, but I really really hope they switch it up or it will lose it’s epic feel.

I must say, watching Garou fight otherwise is an absolute joy. The rest of this scene was so dynamic. I loved the way just glided through everyone and bounced around so fluidly. Keeping the water stream fist throughout it was also visually really pleasing. I need more. Give me more Garou fights, this is AMAZING. And that put us about half way through the episode like I predicted, which means I have no idea at what scene the episode will end.

IN SUMMARY: I honestly don’t feel like I have much to say or reflect on. I just really loved this episode. Favorite one yet. I mean of course I’m going to like it more as the story kicks the fuck up, but I genuinely had zero complaints, and actively enjoyed watching the animation.

Warning for next week btw, I’m going to be out of the country and also not really near civilization, so I probably won’t have wifi, so theres a good chance I wont be able to blog next week’s episode till I get back. Which I’m actually pissed about. because

Finally sat down to work through 20 more questions. I know I’d been a bit behind for a while, but here comes a flurry of questions and comments. The OFA would love to implement higher standards for breeding dogs, but they can't actually enforce anything. All they can do is collect the data and make recommendations. They have some super interesting data on the frequency of hip and elbow dysplasia in dogs, but there are a few potential flaws.

Number one is that it's not compulsory for breeders to disclose their hip and elbow results. If they screen a dog with bad hips, for example, and simply choose not to send those results in, then the recorded 'breed average' will be 'better' than reality.

I do have a soft spot for Ivysaur.

When I went through, and please remember it was over a decade ago when I was applying, they looked at your academic achievements first, and extracurriculars second, but if you didn't have any extracurricular experience with the veterinary industry you weren't looked on as favourably as if you did. By the interview stage, the professors had already more or less decided who they wanted as students, the interviews just sealed the deal and maybe bumped you higher or lower on the list.

More or less. It can include any part of the animal that isn't profitable to market as a labelled something for human consumption. So while it might include lots of organs, it's less likely to include hearts, liver and tripe, which can be sold separately, and may also include things like neck and cheek meat is those cuts are not popular locally, or just edges of things that nobody wanted.

Dogs can have longer hiccup attacks, but their diets are usually more regular and they're less likely to be overfed than we are. They usually grow out of hiccups in puppyhood.

It will grow back eventually (assuming no endocrinopathies affecting the fur), but the guard hairs will take longer to grow back and look like they did before shaving. It's only a part of the dog that's been shaved, so unlikely to be an issue.

Considering Vet Assistant is not a regulated term here, it might be anything from a layperson with no training just doing what a vet instructs them to do, to being basically a vet nurse. I do not work with vet assistants, I work with trained vet nurses, so you will get a better answer asking someone who actually works under that title.

Dogs that are missing canine teeth often have tongues that deviate and pop out. It's more common in brachycephalic dogs, which have long tongues relative to their face anyway.

Once again, I’d just like to point out that I am well aware of the very mixed opinions on this topic and that this is just my personal take on this. I am in no way saying I am right or wrong, nor am I saying that anyone else is right or wrong with this. When it comes down to it, it’s not a black-and-white subject, and I’m very open to hearing others’ opinions on this as well (as long as they’re being respectful, of course lol)!

Well, firstly… I’ve never actually heard of “gender-bending” trans characters until that whole thing with ohnips “gender-bending” Damien from Dream Daddy… Probably because there’s not much trans representation in entertainment media in the first place but… either way, it’s a new thing to me, as I’m sure it is to a lot of other people! That may have been one of the main reasons for so many people to flip out as they did when this occurred (maybe also because ohnips has had a history of making some… questionable choices before…). Maybe this has been done before but I just ended up missing that discourse and am only caught up with the ohnips discourse?? lol idk but yeah. While I don’t agree with people sending death threats and carelessly throwing around “go die"s and stuff like that… I can see why people may be upset, at the very least. Again, I’m not condoning death threats, and I think both sides were in the wrong here (except for the few that were very civil about trying to explain their thoughts on the matter), but I’m going to use this scenario in specific for most of this discussion solely because the whole concept of "gender-bending” trans characters is very new to me and this is the first time I’ve seen it happen. Hopefully people can learn from ohnips’s mistakes lol

So firstly, I can understand why people would be uncomfortable with Damien, a trans man, being turned into a woman. For one, it was a complete afterthought for ohnips to offhandedly mention that “oh yeah btw, I actually made gender-bent Damien a TRANS woman lol” only AFTER the fact that she was getting a lot of backlash from it. I can guarantee her original intentions were not to make Damien’s “gender-bend” a trans woman lol. ( x ) She also handled the overall situation VERY poorly. She used the whole “artistic freedom!1!1” excuse that many infamous artists like to use (rather than owning up to a mistake, learning from it, and genuinely apologizing) and has an overall “if u don’t like it and u think it’s offensive, too bad lol” attitude, which really doesn’t help anyone at all in this situation… ( x ) ( x ) If this were anyone else who’s actually a decent human being, I guarantee this would not have gotten as out-of-hand as it did. A lot of people look at is as “oh boy another TUMBLR discourse” which… yeah, it is. But people’s frustration with this artist is justifiable when you actually pull your head out of your ass and look at the situation itself. Yes, people took it too far. They always do. But being one of ohnips’s white knights and sticking up for her even when she IS in the wrong is just… lame. You can like someone, you can enjoy their content, and STILL acknowledge when something they’re doing is wrong. It doesn’t make you any less of a fan or supporter. It just shows that you actually have a damn functional brain in your noggin lol. Not being able to acknowledge a person’s mistakes and blindly sticking up for them is just as lame as being one of the people that can’t think of a logical argument and just wants to be an ass and tell someone to “die”. USE YOUR NOGGINS, BUCKAROOS.

Now, all nips aside:

While everyone’s free to voice their opinion on the subject… in this case, I think the opinions that matter the most are from ftm/mtf trans individuals. It’s not that anyone else’s opinions on the matter are invalid or wrong, it’s just that… these individuals’ voices on this matter are a lot more impactful than for a cisgender person to say “Gender-bending trans characters is completely fine! There’s nothing transphobic with this!” It’s the equivalent of a white person speaking on a racism issue aimed towards POC, saying “Oh that’s not racist!” Like… while you can think what you want, if you’re not a POC, you can’t speak for them… and if you’re not trans, you can’t speak for them, either… You can’t tell the trans community what they should or shouldn’t deem transphobic… That’s not how it works. Even then, the trans community already has different opinions on this, like I mentioned earlier. None of our opinions are more right or wrong than another, within reason.

In my honest opinion, I don’t actually have much of an opinion on this topic haha! When it comes down to it, really, the only one that can say whether or not “gender-bending” a particular trans character is fine or not… is up to the creator of said character. With my trans original characters, I wouldn’t want anyone “gender-bending” them, because when I create these characters, I put a part of myself into them; and I connect with my characters on a more personal level than my audience may. As a trans man, I would not want to be portrayed as a girl, even a trans a girl at that. Because I’m not a girl, and I don’t want to be associated with that image of me. It’s the same way with my characters. With my cisgender characters? Sure thing, knock yourself out; cis-swap those bitches all y'all want (as long as ur not changing the character altogether, as mentioned in my previous post about gender-bending in general)… but my ftm trans characters, my mtf trans characters, my gender fluid characters, my agender characters- they were all created for a reason: for representation. Because I don’t see them represented enough in media, and I take comfort in creating these characters I can relate to on a more personal level. I take comfort in providing these characters others can relate to on a more personal level. It’s similar to why people headcanon characters as trans, or headcanon characters as a sexuality other than heterosexual. Except this time, it’s canon representation you’re messing with here, and ya just gotta be mindful of the rest of the community and be as respectful as ya can be :’) This goes for everyone though.

Some people honestly just don’t know any better and will make mistakes by accident, not realizing it can come off as “offensive” or harmful to minority communities. You need to treat situations like these with care; explain to them civilly why what they’re doing may be wrong, and just sympathize with them rather than being immature and nasty. When you come onto someone aggressively, you’re just gonna make the situation worse. I guarantee you that lol

Re: potential cheating. Sky was filmed in very early 2015. The supposed bar kissing was in Dec 2015, right? It's now March 2017, and we're just now seeing pictures of them potentially together. If they've been together since say February 2015, (1) that's a long-ass time to be sneaky, (2) esp. since neither seems to have super-duper spy skills, & (3) it's the weirdest "affair" I've ever seen.

Norman is not who I thought he was. He apparently lies and cheats and sneaks around. I am so upset. It has nothing to do with him being with someone but the way he lied about it. He's not the person he said he was to his fans. How can we believe anything he says to us anymore? I believed in him so much. He broke my heart if this is all true.

And she has paid for the new paparazzi pics bc no way would people even know to look for her in Barcelona. So what is going on? Some thoughts. Sure, it all looks shady af but until I see pics of them holding hands or kissing I’m going to believe the “just friends”. Notice how she’s always shown up to where he is? Italy, France, & now Spain. He didn’t travel to Europe to see her when she was filming. She could just be one of those types of clingy women who might be sad/desperate/lonely after the end of a 10 year relationship, 40 years old, seeking something from someone - ANYONE! I think a lot of women can relate to that feeling of “I want someone to love me” after a break up and make dumb choices. Anyone who has ever been to a Con or seen Norman meet fans on the street, the guy has infinite patience so maybe he’s just being nice to a friend and she’s a little hopeful. I am wondering if they ever officially go public. To me the difference between a relationship versus casual fwb would be things like he did with his last girlfriend. Even though he still never publicly acknowledged his ex, look at everything he did with her: Going on vacation alone together his usual places (without hiding it). Her visiting/living with him in GA, time with his family, vacay with him and his son, set visits, etc. She's gonna want him at events w/her which he did w/CS at first. --mod-- Touché

I believe Norman and Diane are secretly dating and I know as fans we shouldn't judge his personal life. But If the cheating scandal was true I can't say what he did was right. If Norman really did had a affair with Diane Kruger and did that to Joshua Jackson I feel like that was wrong to do.
