the 'evil imposter' just wants to be a baker!
Prologue: The Foodie turned Imposter?!
Part 7: Dawn Winery's Grapevine
[ part 6 ] || [ masterlist ] || [ part 8 ]
divider is made by @/saradika-graphics
"It's best we go now and tell Amber that we didn't find anything." Aether decided, having finished eating, you found yourself walking Paimon and Aether out of the hilichurl camp, your warm friend was dozing off after having their fill of wood and pinecones.
"That would be true." You couldn't help but feel a bit sad having to part with them, though your time in this world was short, it felt forever since you had any decent human conversation. Sure the pyro slime and the hilichurls were very welcoming and accomodating but it was hard to have a clear conversation with them due to a language barrier, and the few people you had met in Mondstadt were either a rumored puppet (Katheryne) or tried to kill you in the end (Jean and Lisa).
Noticing your disappointment, the blond haired boy promised you something that made your smile return "Don't worry, I'm not leaving you permanently. I'll come by once the close is clear but. ."
He eyed the Hilichurl group "I think you shouldn't stay here any longer, the knights might come to take care of this camp before it gets to big. . they may find you."
Your eyes widened slightly, you didn't want the Hilichurls who took you in to get hurt. . "I'll keep that in mind. ."
"Here." His hand glowered brightly as he brought out a bow and a quiver filled with arrows, "This should help you in the long run." he said, he didn't want to leave you, not when you clearly couldn't fight to protect your life, but being with him while Mondstadt had his eyes on him would only risk you getting found out.
"Thank you. ." despite your hesitance you forced yourself to take the weapon. . 'right. . I shouldn't hesitate. They never did, so I shouldn't. Not when my life is on the line.'
When the duo had left in the dead of the night, you turned around, basking once more in the peaceful hilichurl tribe. Most of them were asleep, cuddling with each other for warmth near the weak bonfire that your pyro buddy managed.
The children were latched onto the older ones, the samachurl dozing off while stilling sitting, clutching their staff in their hands. Knowing that the Hilichurls were overprotective of you (for a reason you cannot quite comprehend at the present), you decided you must leave the hilichurl group for both of your own safety's. But not now, you at least wanted to be just a bit selfish.
You sat next to the dozing campfire, hugging your knees close to your chest. 'There's a lot to be done.' you thought, hand wondering to a nearby hilichurl's head, feeling their soft fur or hair, you found your fingers gently coming through the tangles.
Their origins were not unknown to you, and that made it harder for you to stay and leave them. To stay would put them at a risk of the knights attacking them to get through to you, while leaving them would damn them of the punishment placed on to them. You could not stay and defend them when she didn't even have any combat prowess.
Despite being a former culinary arts students, you had experience due to playing Genshin Impact. There was a way to make sure the hilichurl group would not be ill-equipped. Of course helping them get stronger may mean they'd end up hurting innocent civilians but. . they were much better than the people, so you didn't need much more convincing.
Come the next few days you helped in fortifying their walls and making simple watch towers out of wood so their archers would have better leverage. Of course all you did was draw the watchtower and they understood what you were trying to convey to start building it.
The Samachurl was also able to help with communication, but they way that the Sama looked at you meant he was beginning to understand why you had them do these things. You thought the younger hilichurls how to cook and prepare food that weren't just meat but also those with vegetables.
"You need to eat your vegetables okay?" "nye!" a hilichurl huffed, crossing their arms and turning away. "Hey!"
You also accompanied them when they went hunting and foraging, they taught you how to prepare birds and boars to turn into food and meet, while you taught them how to season them and prepare it so the food will last longer.
They helped you learn how to use a bow and in turn the first prey you had caught were given to them. When you realized that they were now able to live more efficiently, you decided to leave that particular night.
You left half of the food and ingredients you had foraged, the rest going into your inventory. As you walked out of the camp, you found yourself turning back only to flinch at the Samachurl who appeared right in front of you.
"Unu. ." the sadness in his voice conveyed that he knew you were about to leave, without planning to return. . at least for a long while.
Swallowing away your nerves, you responded by simply bowing deeply in respect and gratitude "Valo. . for everything."
"a. .ah." the Samachurl coughed, once again he spoke in broken human language. . "p. please, come back, ye unu. . we're your odomu." and he bowed in front of you, much deeper, almost falling to the ground as he regarded with reverence.
You straightened up, feeling a mixture of emotions as you approached him, arms enveloping his much smaller form as you placed a kiss on his forehead. "I will."
🏹⁀➴˚ ✦ ˑ ִֶ 𓂃⊹
Find yourself alone made you feel solemn and rather lonely, but you resisted the urge to go back. Due to the terrain of Brightcrown mountains, there were so few paths you could take. Since you weren't a skilled rock climber nor did you feel safe swimming at cider lake with its proximity to city of freedom, you decided to take the path that lead south, to the sub area Windwail Highland.
Windwail Highland consisted of Dawn Winery, Wolvendom and Springvale. Your goal was to go to Wolvendom, due to it being home to the wolves, it was a less popular sight in the region. There were few people there, actually you were sure that there would only be one person to worry about, Razor.
Wolvendom held something precious you would need after all, Wolfhook, it was not because you wanted to try cooking with them. . . okay partly it was, but it was mainly for its medicinal properties! Since you couldn't go to the city and get healed by someone like Barbara, you could only rely on homemade remedies and recovery food.
Of course recovery food were for hp in the end, you don't think they'll heal any broken bones you may get along the way. But since you didn't know how to exactly use them, you also had to improvise this entire journey of yours to make sure you live.
You eyed the lake that entered your vision, as your hand placed itself on a waypoint, ignoring it whirl to life you turn to the fork in the path. One leading to the winery, the other leading to Liyue. If Aether hadn't told you why you were being targeted by Mondstadt, you'd have probably escape to Liyue using this path by now but. .
if Mondstadt, the city of freedom itself wanted you dead without any due process, what of Liyue? Liyue, a region steeped in tradition, this creator was respected in the entire continent. . thinking about it, there wasn't really any safe places for you to go to, to seek refuge in.
Even if there were people who would willingly protect you and house you, you'd no doubt feel guilty for putting them in potential harm's way. You massaged the lower half of your face as you decided to continue trekking on, but instead of feeling your skin, you felt a fabric around you. "Ah right" you murmur as you remembered making a half-assed veil to cover the majority of your face. The hilichurl masked had been an option but that would garner more attention to yourself as a human dressed as a hilichurl.
But with the apparel you were wearing you could easily play yourself off as being a nomad from a far of region, possibly the Sumeru Desert, the clothes would be close enough to it and considering there were few or none sumeru visitors in Mondstadt except for Lisa (who has been away from the dendro region for years) then you were safe.
The smell of grapes seemed to linger around the area now, and lo and behold, you could see Dawn Winery with its grapevines in full glory. Curiously you stopped to stare, watching as numerous maids and workmen were hauling the harvest to the house.
"Oh hello there, is there anything we can do for you?" You flinched as you turned to find a maid approach her, one with short light blonde hair and green eyes, her appearance was very familiar to her but the name was definitely on the tip of your tongue.
"U-uh no, sorry I just smelled some grapes." You awkwardly stood, wondering if the maid knew about the wanted 'Imposter' on the loose.
The woman nodded, a smile on her face. "I see, here at Dawn Winery, we grow a lot of varieties of grapes that are used for our wine and some other special ingredients." she added helpfully.
"Is it harvesting season then?" you asked curiously, the woman nodded "yes, for one of our rotations. We are actually hiring some adventurers for some labor. Are you by chance one of those adventurers who saw our request?"
Immediately you shook your head "Ah I'm an adventurer, yes. But I haven't seen this request of yours."
"Ah I see"
Seeing her disappointment you added "however if you still need an extra pair of hands, I can help." you offered and she instantly smiled. "That's great, why don't you follow me and I can explain to you what we need to do!"
You nodded, taking a steady pace as you followed behind the woman who'd you come to realize was Adelinde. All you had to do was harvest the grapes in one section of the winery, then help with the cleaning then the delivery of a wine. "Apparently, the Knights are ordering for abled men to partake in the hunt of a person impersonating out great Creator." Adeline offhandedly mentioned, which explained why most of the people in the area were either maids or much older workers that probably did not meet Jean's standards for participants.
"I see, that must have been a trouble for your business." You nodded along as you grabbed a wooden basket, and started working. You were too far into it to leave anyways, and hopefully they'd pay you a lot for the menial labor. Maybe finally you could escape the nightmare that is minimum wage.
The grapes looked juicy and plump, you were almost tempted on snacking on a few but you didn't want to return Adelinde's kindness with eating their grapes. You could probably make some raisins with the grapes.
"Oh Master Kaeya, what are you doing here?" You flinched at Adelinde who was greeting a boy with dark blue hair. "Hello Adelinde" he greeted respectfully, without a hint of teasing. From the corner of your eye you could see him interact with the maid.
A shaky sigh escaped your lips, hoping the captain would not notice you. "I heard you were short on hands so I thought I'd stop by and assist you."
"Don't tell me you ditched your work." The woman huffed, hands on her hips, but she didn't look too annoyed. "Maybe, maybe not. But it's okay, Diluc is working with the Knights at Jean's behest." He waved her off.
"I see, thank you for your help. . but are you sure? this situation is very important. It is true that there is an imposter like in the prophecy?" Adelinde asked with a hush whisper, but you found that the wind carried their voices to you making it easier for you to eavesdrop.
"Supposedly, but I would not rule out this imposter for simply having a few similar features with her divinity." Kaeya said with a small sigh, the maid skeptically wondered "that is true but. . are they truly going to execute this person on sight. . what if they are actually the creator?"
If Adelinde had a choice, she would rather give it time to truly determine this person's status before deciding to execute them on the spot.
"I would agree. But maybe Diluc could bring reason to Jean."
"Hopefully, Jean has always been fond of Diluc, maybe she'd listen to him."
Oh? did that mean Jean did have feelings for the red haired dark knight? you couldn't help but cover your mouth with your hand, finding the tea to be interesting.
"But you know, I wonder why Jean is acting like this, usually she's so level headed." Adelinde sighed cupping her cheek in dismay, she was quite disappointed with the acting grand master's choice of actions.
"Well you know it is quite a sensitive topic, it seems like she wants to curry favor with the great Creator after being neglected." Kaeya unabashedly exposed Jean's secrets. You blinked in confusion, hands stopping as if frozen from harvesting another grapevine. Jean was neglected by the creator?
'so like mommy issues or God Issues?'
You couldn't help but ponder the implications of what was revealed to you, that meant that the God was still active in some ways but still silent.
Then you remembered something, you had jean, you had pulled for a character you had wanted only to lose 50/50, and because by then she was out of meta you didn't bother using her, only building her to get the few free wishes. .
You nearly dropped your basket as something cold washed over you. . something, something was clearly wrong.
°🥂⋆.ೃ🍾࿔*:・
After harvesting all the ready grapes in the section Adelinde instructed you, you found them ready the grapes into wooden buckets as the other more experienced maids handled the work. "Why don't you take a seat and wait, the others are loading up the wine in the cart." Adelinde offered as you nodded in relief, you found your feet hurting from standing on unpaved paths without any proper protection.
"By the way," you flinched, turning to Adeline who simply smiled at you, unaware of your unease "I never got your name."
"It's [Name]." you said with a slight nod as you then headed to the chairs and tables scattered around the estate. You felt your stomach rumble, finding yourself starving. You should cook something, you wondered if you can borrow the nearby cooking pot. "Why hello there?"
Your eyes widened, turning to meet Kaeya, how long had he been aware of your presence? how long had you been distracted by your hunger to not notice him approaching?
"I've never met you before, you are?"
"[name] just a nomad." you answered with a frown, eyes narrowing at the captain. What was he up to? even though he seemed to not agree with Jean's witch trial, he was still a wildcard.
"Oh? from where?" he took the seat next to you, a smile plastered on his face.
"The desert in Sumeru."
Your answers were short and had a sharp edge, but it did not deter the Cavalry captain who only seemed more and more amused. You wondered whether Aether trusted the man enough to tell him about what he knew of you.
"Oh really? I've never been there before. What's it like?"
"Unbearably hot during the day, cold during the night. There are also a lot of eremites and mercenary." You answered. Could he even confirm or deny your claims? sure he had connections, but did it reach towards Sumeru who was quite far?
His fingers tapped the wooden table that separated the two of you, "I've never been to Sumeru before, could you tell me more about it?" he asked, putting on his charismatic tone. "What do you care for then?" you gritted out.
"How about the cuisine?"
Your eyes widened slightly, and you found yourself going into a long rant about the food in Sumeru. Although you could never truly describe it's by its taste, having never eaten it. You vividly remember its description.
"The pita pockets are very tasty and filling, I made it once (recreated) and it was delicious. You can change the fillings, I tried one with a filling similar to what I usually use in Quesadillas. But you can change it to have some lettuce or tomatoes and pork. But if you want a dish you can try the Tandoori Roast Chicken, it's similar to the Sweet Madame but instead of being sweet it's more savory with spices." You continued on ranting as Kaeya blinked, he was not expecting this.
He wasn't able to cut in for awhile as you passionately talked about the food from Sumeru, sometimes you complained about the ingredients, other times you gushed about how delicious it was when you cooked it or how disappointed you were when you hadn't.
"Personally I always wanted to try their Shawarma wraps, but I haven't had the chance to recreate it as well as the Rose custard. I love pudding, what about you?"
"oh uh" he blinked again, not expecting you to stop as you, again, were rather passionate. Realizing it as well, you reeled back, cheeks and ears taking on a rosy hue as you apologized, definitely embarrassed for chatting his ears off.
"It's alright" he found himself chuckling, for some reason, when you had your guard down and began talking with such passion, he found himself relaxing, warming up to your more genuine side.
"Personally I'd prefer a good meal that could be paired with some wine." He commented, he propped his arm up by placing his elbow on the table, as he leaned his cheek on his palm. "Since you came from Sumeru, have you tried any Mondstadt dishes?"
You shook your head, you didn't have a chance to because of Jean and Lisa, you bitterly thought. "How about I treat you?" he offered and suddenly the sound of your stomach pitifully grumbling was heard, you wanted to die as he said with an amused smile "I'll take that as a yes then."
Rather than actually buying you food, he took it upon himself to cook you something. The blue haired knight had borrowed the kitchen in the Ragnvindr estate. You sat patiently on a stool as you watched him worked, wondering if he was always this easy going with people? To cook for someone, well to you that was rather intimate after all.
You smelled the scent of fruit, and quickly you realized he was making his signature dish. If cooking for someone you just met wasn't intimate, then cooking your signature dish for someone you weren't even close to was definitely intimate.
"Here you go, a plate of my famous Fruity Skewers." he said after a few moments, presenting you with a plate with his signature dishes. It looked more appetizing than the base recipe which was the chicken-mushroom skewers, you could see the slices of cucumber and onions paired with the chicken and mushrooms which had a shiny coat to it, probably from the wine he used to marinate. With a hum you took a skewer and bit into it.
Kaeya watched with slight interest at how your eyes sparkled from the dish, you licked your lips after finishing a skewer and when you turned to him, any apprehension you had towards him was gone. "This is delicious!"
When you had recreated his signature dish back at home, you clearly didn't do any justice for his signature dish. Perhaps it was the wine, no, it was definitely the wine you had used that failed to capture it's essense.
"I'm glad you liked it. You are. . quite enamored with food huh?"
You weren't offended by his remarks, instead you proudly sat straighter, as you jabbed your thumb towards yourself "That's right. I'm a foodie."
"A foodie?" he repeated, a certain shift in his tone that you hadn't noticed.
"That's right," you smiled "a foodie is basically a person who is very interested in food!"
"That seems like an understatement, when I take you for an example." At his words you blushed, chuckling as you remembered how you rant off moments ago, on just the sumeru dishes alone.
The two of you began eating in the kitchens, you were sure Adelinde had pop by once but immediately closed the door but you weren't too sure. Kaeya wasn't bothered, taking the time to savor the meal as you decided to return the favor by making some desert.
I use he/they pronouns for the slime, they/them for hilichurls but some I used he/him. The samachurl is he/they. Since I'm writing a female reader, i usually use her, but it's mostly 'you'.
I'm sorry you had to leave them, it's for the story's progression.
oh and this story is going to be definitely lighthearted with a few pinches of angst, how you treat characters when you were playing the game will definitely affect their standing on you. Well at least in Jean's case.

Haha how funny would it have been while Scaramouche couldn't be cursed by the Abyss, he was still constantly around it and every time he hung out with Y/N he was unknowingly bringing the Abyss to them and eventually they started getting affected by it and got really really sick and could've either died or been around Scaramouche's Abyssal aura for so long they became a hilichurl or something

do you ever hurt hilichurls unnecessary or you're like me and leave them be whenever possible
tw:emotional hilichurls
Okay so when I was a young and inexperienced Genshin player I recognised that 1. I needed loot and 2. The hilichurls had loot so I would go all out, literally murder them and then one day I was sneaking up behind them and they hadn't noticed me yet and they were all just sleeping around and the rest were sitting around their pot and I swear that two of them were hugging and I felt so bad that since then I've tried not to bother them unless I really need stuff

Was doing a bit of thinking for my father!Diluc thingy and ya'know, monsters and shit. Because there is a child in it, I was thinking of ways to pacify the killing of them we do in game. So here they are.
Slimes, Fungi, Whopperflowers, Specters and other lifeforms (most of them):
- what we see as killing them is scaring them off, to them, our weapons become (sandals, or chanclas, or 拖鞋).
- we scare them by bonking them, as we bonk them, they drop little parts of themselves, kinda like pissing you self because you're scared but much cuter
Hilichurls (including Lawachurls, Samachurls and Mitachurls):
- I have no other way of making this killing any less gruesome but I have another thought
- so we all know how these people are Khaenri'an people turned right (if you don't sorry for the spoiler)? What if us killing them is our way of setting them free of their curse
- just a thought
Abyss Creatures:
- I think that that is not their "real" body. Its corporeal, but not their original body
- when we kill them, we send their consciousness back to the Abyss, where their real bodies are
Rifthounds and (I can assume) Geovishaps:
- they are rock, they sink back down into the ground melding with nature
Treasure Hoarders, Nobushi, Fatui and Eremites
- killing them in game is essentially just beating them up and taking their lunch money (in the form of the insignias)
- nothing much to it, they flee like pigs at a butcher
Automatons (including the ones in the desert area of Sumeru):
- they break down into pieces or stop working; hence why we see some parts of said automatons sticking out of the ground as we explore to places.
I won't go on to the Weekly and/or Field Bosses because they are practically just bonking them and them pissing themselves but in the form of drops.
Your welcome, I guess, even though it was not asked.

2 years ago it took me a solid 6 months of grinding, preparation, character building (and putting it off) before i reached the summit of dragonspine. and that was all because of the stupid time trial challenge at the bottom of the cave. today, it only took me a few hours to complete the entire world quest from start to finish. i’ve dedicated so much time to genshin i’m kind of having a crisis about it

When they call you their wife (Genshin Impact Version)
Fandom: Genshin Impact Pairing: Kaeya x reader, Diluc x Reader, Zhongli x Reader, Xiao x Reader Other characters: ehh, I think I mentiones Traveler in Zhongli's part, Diluc is also mentioned in Kaeya's part Category: Romance, scenarios Warnings: There's a little bit of violence in Xiao's part but it's not detailed. I think that's it! Author's note: It's ten days since the beggining of the year, happy new year people! Sorry about the delay, I'm terrible with time so... yeah there's that better late than sorry! Hope you enjoy~
Kaeya
“And this beautiful lady is my dear wife”
This man lives to see people's reactions to what he does and says. So he bets to himself what your reaction will be to every of his crazy ideas, so maybe he teases you a lot and flirts with you shamelessly.
He went to Sumeru to represent Jean since she was very occupied. You, on your part, were assigned to protect him since he was an important diplomat of Mondstadt.
You tried to be as professional as possible but it was hard when Kaeya found every opportunity to flirt with you.
Kaeya is a gentleman around you, treating you like his date rather than his guard.
So he makes you relax, he makes you laugh with his comments. When he hears you were assigned because of your dexterity with the sword he gets interested in your story.
Where did you learn to fight? When did you start? Who was your master? You went to the akademya? You were a Mat, Matra?
Kaeya gets really invested so you decide to answer his questions only if he answers them too.
And Kaeya is happy to reveal all of his stories and secrets to know you because you are not like most people, you don't get frightened when he says he once woke up a ruin guardian to win a fight.
“It a valid gamble” you say while nodding and Kaeya’s eyes bright like he just heard the most beautiful music of all Teyvat.
When Kaeya finally has to go back to Mondstadt you are informed that you will have the mission to bring him back to the capital of Wind safe and sound.
It was a long and tiring trip, you had to defend yourself and him more than once and Kaeya was more than happy to fight by your side.
There was only one problem in the last part of your journey: a Samachurl Froze your ankle and while you were able to kill it the frostbite was a problem.
Kaeya, ever the gentleman carried you to a safe place, the house of his childhood: Dawn’s Winery
He knocked at the door and was faced with a surprised Adeline, who hurried to get everything needed to help you.
Maybe an hour later Kaeya’s brother appeared and explained your situation, only that he presented you as his wife.
Diluc was taken aback when Kaeya presented you as his wife. He looked at his brother with a specially deep frown, making Kaeya say: “It was love at first drink”
There are three options: one were Diluc apologizes…
“My apologize, it seems my brother hurt his head and is speaking nonsense”
Another option is if you are someone who is honest and you react nervously, denying his statement, Kaeya will laugh and tells you, in a joking tone, that you don't have to get shy, this is his brother!
The last option is if you act all composed, there's a chance that Diluc will smile and sarcastically play along, as you two chat, ignoring Kaeya who will definitely get touchy at the lack of attention.
If you laugh and play along with him, he will most definitely hug you by the waist and start calling you his wife for every goddamn reason he can think of.
“My wife would like a glass of water” “I can't give that to my wife” “Diluc, she is my wife be polite” Now Kaeya can't stop calling you his wife.
Diluc
“Carefull now, Mr.client, That's my wife you are talking about”
Diluc won't call you his wife if it's not true, so you are married to the Dark knight hero, the thing is: Almost no one knows about you two because Diluc doesn't want to put you in danger.
You two met at the Angel's Share. You were a knight of favonius, he was bartending.
You had gone there to celebrate someone's birthday, only that unlike the rest you didn't ask for an alcoholic beverage, you asked for apple cider.
While everyone got plastered you chatted the night away with Diluc.
Let me tell you, Diluc was happy to talk to someone who wasn't complaining about his life nor was drunk. It was one of the best nights of his life.
So maybe, when you forgot your vision on the bar to go help one of your friends, he didn't say anything, wanting to have a reason to look for you.
Oh, and he looked for you the next day!
Everyone was shitting their pants when they saw Diluc entering the headquarters. Everyone was wondering what he was doing there, if there was a crisis, if… wait, why was he talking to you?
Diluc gave back your vision and since that moment he found the way to get involved with you.
That being said, he proposed after two years of knowing you and the wedding was at the Dawn Winery and was very, very small.
Persons who where at the wedding: Kaeya, Jean, Lisa and Adelinde, besides the nun who officiated the wedding. (I said it was a small wedding!)
I mean, being Mrs. Ragvindir would put you up in the list of people to kidnap in Monstadt, not because of the dark knight hero thing, no, no, no. It's because of the mora.
He only calls you his wife because he has to instill fear in the bones of the man who dared to speak about you
What did the man said? “That Y/n, she has such a pretty ass, have you seen it?... Come on! She looks like such a slut with that skimpy clothes, I would love to spank…”
And Diluc is not going to let anyone talk about his wife, like that in his own bar.
Yes maybe you are a Favonius’ knight and yes it's true your ass is pretty, especially when you use shorts… but no one is allowed to talk about you like that, like you are nothing but an object.
Okay, maybe he can but only when he's alone with you in the middle of some dirty session of love making.
When he say those words, he’s totally saying them to scare the shit out of whoever dared to be disrespectful to you. Because, a menace from him is something to fear, he was the youngest calvary captainof the knights. He was a master swordman.
Diluc knows you can defend yourself, you probably will kick this drunkard ass, but he prefers to instill fear in people than have you getting in trouble with Jean.
Don't get mad at Diluc, he’s a bit overprotective of you because he loves you.
The man suddenly sobers up as soon as his ears registered Diluc words. He looks ashamed and regretful of his choice of words, he offers an apology and leave because it's so damn late!
As soon as Diluc sees you back home, he can't avoid looking at you with adoration only to confess his slip up the moment you two are having dinner.
The only thing you can say is: “It's about time everyone knows”
Zhongli
“Oh, Y/n is my wife, didn't I mentioned it?”
He was 3,000 years old when he met you. You were the prettiest living being he had ever seen.
A minor Goddess with strong wings that adorned your back. A Goddess enslaved to be a gift to the lord of vortex, send heavily guarded in a caravan that happened to pass near the Guili plains thanks to an accidental detour
You were the goddess of Song and the Dawn, the bringer of peace after a nightmare.
Zhongli could forget even his own name but he would never forget your panicked expression when your eyes landed on him.
He was so damn tall, intimidating and serious that you had thought the Dragon wanted to keep you for himself.
However, Morax had opened the cage and told you in a stern and cold voice that you were free.
You were so afraid that you didn't step out until he got away from you. Then you flew away in the form of a bright and colorful bird.
You didn't plan to go back to where he was but curiosity got the best of you, so you went back and watched Morax in silence from the distance.
The Adepti tried to scare you away unsure of how to deal with you stalking the prime Adepti. However, you didn't budge. Everyday you appeared in your bird form to sing to Morax and wake him up.
Slowly the adepti accepted your presence, they even started to try and get you to stay a little bit more since Morax started asking about the bird he has been hearing.
Morax one day woke up earlier only to tell you that you could stay for breakfast and since that moment you two started to eat together.
You were grateful to him and looked for forms to let him know, from giving him flowers, act as his messenger to the Yaksha and even sing for him. He had saved you from being a concubine of Osial, there was too much to be grateful.
Between this acts of devotion, Morax started to pay more and more attention to you and even when he didn’t understand his feelings he knew one thing: He wanted to keep you close and keep you safe.
Thousands of years were needed but you two ended up getting married.
Now, in all of this more than 3,000 years of Marriage he has called you Wife, but I really like this time when he forgot to introduce you as his wife because for him is common knowledge. Everyone knows Rex Lapis is married to the goddess of Song and Dawn. Everyone who is important to him knows you.
Those being, the adepti..
But the traveler saw you two eating together one afternoon. And they saw you walking together by the bay while holding hands. Another day he saw you clinging to Zhongli’s arm while he seemed to be explaining something to you.
They assumed you two were dating. They even got to speak to you for a commission, something about a ring made of noctiluose jade.
So Traveler being a little rascal started talking about you with Zhongli and he seemed to be happy to talk about you.
“When are you gonna ask her to marry you?” Traveler asks mischievously and Zhongli laughs and say the phrase.
The travelers gets all surprised but then asks how did that happened and Zhongli is proud to explain how he managed to ask for your hand.
Next time traveler meets you, they notice the ring around your finger.
However, they notice thewhole ring is made of Cor lapis.
As you notice their curious gaze you tell him the story about how Rex lapis made Cor lapis only to propose to you.
Which makes sense since Cor lapis literally means “Heart of stone”
Xiao
“Get your hands away from my wife!”
Xiao is not a man of many words, he’s terrible at expressing his feelings to everyone.
And I mean everyone, even with you.
However, you should know that he will never call you his wife if he isn't married to you.
This is because he once heard Zhongli telling something along the lines of: “Marriage is the most sacred of contracts”
Now listed, you two met because of Zhongli/Morax. You were the first minor Goddess who relinquished your divinity to Morax and was left almost with no power, so Morax asked Xiao to take care of you.
And Xiao, being the obedient Yaksha he is, took care of you during the Archon War, and maybe that’s why you survived to such massacre.
As I have stated before, Xiao is bad with his feelings but it is good that you can basically read his emotions.
Your love story was a very, agonizingly slow burn, however when Xiao understood that you were never going to leave him, that you loved him and there was no way to change that, only then he gave up trying to get away from you… and he asked you to marry him.
For hundreds of years, Xiao called you his wife only when you two were alone. For him it was a term of endearment.
“Wife” oh, he says it with such softness and love, it makes you fall for him again! You don’t even mind that your marriage is practically a secret.
But there’s always a first time for everything. And the first time he called you his wife in public… It was something else. It wasn’t something born from his love and devotion, it was a warning.
For what felt like years he had endured listening to men flirt with you in Wangshu Inn. Every god damn male seemed to have the goal of stealing you from him. There were some female humans trying to catch your attention, but they were more subtle, smarter.
There was a man who pretended to be interested in your life as an adventurer, asking questions all the time. There was another who tried to catch your attention with food. There was a woman who wanted to take pictures of you and always told you, you were perfect. The worst one, was the one who tried to teach you martial arts.
You only accepted out of pure pressure, since he insisted so much. You were already an excellent fighter, only that you used a weapon of your choice.
The worst part was that he always corrected you, pressing his palm in your abdomen or your lower back.
Xiao usually didn’t pay attention since he didn’t felt jealous, he only peaked since you were making that little sound of annoyance you always did. That small “mhhh”
When he saw that man putting his hands on your hips to “correct” your already perfect posture, he just lost it.
It wasn’t just his anger and frustration, that was his karmic debt taking control. In a second Primordial Jade Winged-Spear was in his hands and he attacked blindly.
The man let go of you and tried to be a hero, only to be hit and cut by Xiao. Let’s be sincere, if it weren’t for you the “martial art master” would be dead, because Xiao is extremely strong.
Anyway, you fought your dear husband and pinned him to the ground until he calmed down. The “martial art master” ran away half beaten, forgetting about you.
Let’s just say, no one has flirted with you since that day.

hero’s compensation ft. diluc ragnvindr
in which you’re walking home, unaware of the news of a pesky samachurl that’s snuck into the city. luckily, the darknight hero is there to rescue you. except one thing: you didn’t expect him to be such a familiar face
contains: female reader ; childhood friends to lovers ; reader is attacked by a samachurl ; references to diluc’s story quest as the darknight hero ; so much tension lol ; lots of kissing ; confessions ; getting together ; this is a late bday offering for the first man that every genshin player falls for
in your defense, you hadn’t heard of the news to avoid this part of the city until the knights could take care of the little…threat that happens to lurk around the streets. you hadn’t noticed the samachurl at first—it noticed you, caging you with thorny vines in a small enclosure.
you’re doomed, you think—samachurls are small, yes, but still dangerous.
you dodge as the staff in its hand swings at you, a quick yet clumsy effort as you start to get tired. running away isn’t an option—not only because you’re trapped, but also because you wouldn’t want to risk bringing the monster deeper into the city. it’s rare for them to find their way past the gates, but it happens every once in a while. not often enough, however, that you’re prepared to handle this situation.
and then there’s a flash—something quick and sharp that swings past you towards the creature.
but unlike the samachurl’s staff, this particular object seems to purposely dodge you, hitting the creature square on its head as it stumbles back and shrieks. a dark (but very familiar) silhouette lunges past you, picking up what you realize is a claymore before swinging once more, the small body of the samachurl sent flying at the impact before slumping onto the ground, limp.
your hand is clutched to your heart, fisting at the material around your collar as you heave labored breaths, in and out. in and out. in and out.
it’s over. your savior is a man who vaguely tickles at a part of your brain incessantly, but you’re too busy with the adrenaline and fear pumping through your veins to fully grasp why that is just yet.
it’s not until a gloved hand settles on your shoulder and a voice calls to you, do you break out of your daze. “are you alright?” a low whisper asks you.
diluc. you look up, shocked and still slightly panicked as you blink at him. “wha—”
“this way! i saw a figure, i’m sure it’s the darknight hero for certain this time!”
the sound of footsteps and a distant voice interrupts you, and before you can figure out what’s happened, diluc has pulled you away, pressing you against the tight space between a stone wall and a staircase and caging you as the pounding footsteps run past you. he lets out a shaky sigh as the sounds become more and more distant, relief sagging into his shoulders once he’s sure the knights hadn’t seen you.
you’re not too worried about that, though. there are more pressing matters on your mind.
like that fact that he’s close. so close, that you can make out the small, ghost of a scar on his forehead from when you were kids. when he’d cut himself from the gravel as he chased after you and kaeya, fallen face first. you remember that day fondly—most of your memories with diluc are fond. some a little bittersweet, of course. long gone are the days where you could run freely with both brothers and have a good time, but memorable all the same.
the man you’ve grown up with is supposedly the same mysterious man you hear about whispered on the streets. the darknight hero—some praise him, in awe of his abilities and his work. others, not so much. the knights, for example, don’t take to his vigilante role too kindly.
you inhale sharply, still pressed close to him as you stare at him with wide eyes.
“so it’s you,” you murmur, stepping closer in the already tight enclosure and invading his space. he doesn’t mind, not really. it’s a slippery slope to press yourself against him like this, but you’ve never had a track record for taking easy routes.
“it’s me,” he confirms, eyeing you carefully, like he’s making sure that’s alright with you.
it is. nothing diluc does could be a problem for you, not when he’s saved your life and not when he’s so close you can practically feel him as he breathes in front of you.
“how did you know to find me?” you ask, looking him in the eyes until finally, he breaks, casting his gaze anywhere else but you as he clears his throat.
“i heard there was a samachurl in the area and—”
“diluc,” you say unimpressed, “i know you better than that.”
you know the answer. you know him better than anyone, in fact. you’ve grown up knowing him, knowing what he loves and hates. what makes him laugh and cry. the softness that still lingers underneath the hardened exterior that the world’s cruelty has layered over his innocence. nobody knows diluc like you do, just like nobody knows you like him.
he knew you were here, not because of some samachurl or some mild threat. you. because somehow, diluc has always made himself present, made himself available at even the most inopportune times when it comes to you.
that time you almost drowned at the lake by the winery as kids. that time you strayed too far and ran into a cryo slime by accident. that time you fell trying to pick grapes and twisted your ankle. that time you walked home late at night and got cornered by a drunk man from the tavern.
he’s always there, somehow, for some reason, always knows just when you need someone and makes sure it’s him who steps up to be the person.
“i was following you,” he admits, tense as he avoids your gaze.
“following me?” you gasp, “how scandalous! do you follow all young women as they walk the streets?”
“of course not,” he frowns, looking mildly bewildered, “i was following you.”
“i see,” you nod slowly, “worried i was incapable of walking myself home, were you?”
neither of you mention that you were incapable of walking yourself home tonight. his face twists into a sheepish expression as he rubs his neck awkwardly.
“it’s not that i find you incapable—i just…it’s just a precautionary measure for the sake of ensuring—”
“oh diluc, would it kill you to say you were worried about me?” you snort.
“quit being difficult,” he grumbles.
“forgive me,” you sigh dramatically, “i thought i could perhaps be clever and hear you admit you care about me. alas, it seems such a day won’t come any time soon.”
he flushes a light pink. it contrasts beautifully with his red hair, making your fingers itch to reach over and pinch his cheek. but he rolls his eyes, finally looking back at you and looking right into you with his piercing gaze as he says, “i was worried about you. does that satisfy you? not one day goes by that i’m not worried about you. you keep me up at night, enough that i’ve taken the safety of this city into my own hands.”
he stuns you into silence. it’s been so many years, so many years since he grew from that young boy you met. his hands became rougher, his shoulders became broader, his arms became stronger. he’s gone from practicing with a wooden sword to wielding that heavy greatsword of his. he’s not naive anymore, far less trusting and far more stoic. his dreams have changed and his ambitions aren’t what they used to be—but he’s still the same diluc that stole your breath and suffocated your throat even as a child.
you love him deeply, so much that it aches between your heart and lungs, in a spot only he can fit. a spot where he can squeeze against both organs, stop the beating in your chest and knock the air out of you. it’s dangerous, leaving you uncomfortably vulnerable.
so you do what you know best to counteract that strange pressure in your chest that makes it difficult to breathe, to speak, to do anything. you throw on a smile on your face and tease him to get under his skin, so that maybe, if he rolls his eyes at you, they won’t pierce into your soul as harshly.
“well it’s lovely to meet the darknight hero,” you grin, batting your lashes, “who’d have thought the city’s beloved master of the dawn winery was saving people from the shadows?”
“please don’t call me that,” he sighs, looking at you tiredly. the expression on his face makes you giggle. “it sounds awfully derivative to me.”
faintly, you’re aware that you’re still hidden in the corner behind the staircase, dead quiet in the middle of the night with just a sliver of space between you. you could just reach up and brush the bangs out of his face, maybe trace that scar you know so well, or even press the tip of your nose to his if you lean closer.
he seems to be aware of the proximity too, because his eyes dart to your lips for just a moment, inhaling sharply as he realizes just how close they are from touching his.
“what would you prefer i call you then?” you whisper.
he doesn’t say anything.
neither of you do, for a bit. just his eyes trained on yours as you both take shallow breaths, narrowly missing each others chests from grazing against one another as they rise and fall, rise and fall.
finally, he clears his throat.
you think he’ll say something—but he doesn’t. instead, he kisses you. enough is enough, he decides, and you’re compelled to agree. enough dancing around the wobbly line that separates you from friends and more than friends—you think it’s been enough years that neither of you do a good job of hiding the built up feelings anymore, anyway.
his lips are chapped. you can feel the stark difference between his and yours as they press up against your soft ones, disrupting your delicate existence with his roughness. it’s not unwelcome, though.
kissing diluc is blazingly warm. his lips, his body, his gloved hands, his breath, all of it is unbearably hot—enough that you feel like you’ll combust at any second. the pyro vision he keeps hung at his waist must make his body run warm, you think. you crave more heat, though. no matter how close you feel you are to the sun, you want more, so your arms wrap around his neck and tug him closer, tangling your fingers in those long fiery locks of his as he groans.
his hands roam your waist, pulling you closer, pressing you flush against his sturdy chest as his lips hungrily mold against yours. air is limited—there’s a burning in your lungs that slowly but surely builds until you pull away, panting for air.
his forehead presses to yours when you do, chest rising and falling as he catches his own breath with lips that are glossed and slightly swollen.
“if i told you what title i’d prefer you used on me, i’m afraid there would be no going back,” he mumbles against your lips.
you’d laugh if you weren’t so breathless and dizzy against him. you’d laugh at the fact that after such a shameless kiss in the dark, hidden corner of the city, he thinks anything he could say would change things more than this kiss has. they couldn’t—not when all your feelings have been laid bare without having said anything at all. a few mere words could never shift anything the way feelings his lips has.
not when you’ve gotten a taste of him, so sweet and hot against your lips, it’s like drinking rays of sun in the sheer cold of dragonspine.
“who said i want to go back?” you challenge, reaching over and tracing your finger along his cheekbone. he closes his eyes, letting out a soft, breathy laugh as he leans into your touch.
“then call me your lover,” he says instantly, “call me yours and i’ll consider us even.”
“even for what?” you raise a brow, looking at him in mild confusion.
he grins as he opens his eyes, leaning closer and kissing against your jaw until he works his way up just beneath your ear lobe, breath trickling the shell of your ear and making you shiver.
“for saving your life, of course,” he teases.
“hero’s don’t require compensation for their noble actions,” you huff, lips curling into a small pout—he pulls away to admire it before kissing it too with a short peck. (he’d tell you that you look adorable like this, but he doesn’t want to sour your mood any further). “and i was perfectly capable of handling that myself.”
“without a weapon?” he asks, looking at you knowingly.
“of course,” you say indignantly. “but if it should truly kill you to be mine, then…” you trail off, leaning to press a lingering kiss to the corner of his mouth, making his fingers dig into your hips slightly as he fights the urge to take more, to turn his head and get a proper kiss out of you.
“then…?” he rasps, impatient.
“then i suppose i can call you my lover,” you hum, finally giving into that overwhelming urge of brushing his bangs back, tracing the scar from your past with your thumb. “would that satisfy you, master diluc?”
“just diluc is fine,” he mutters, heat returning to his skin, “i’ve told you that plenty.”
“diluc,” you murmur, voice softer this time, “thank you for saving me. for always saving me.”
“of course,” he swallows thickly, “i will always come to rescue you. i promise.”
“and i love you for it,” you confess, just barely audible, “i always have. since before i knew what love meant.”
even in the dark shadows of the dim corner he has you pressed against, light breaks over his face as he smiles, so charming, so boyish, you think he’s reverted back to the boy you met when you were so young.
“and i have always loved you,” he whispers, leaning down and kissing you one more time, just to remind himself how you feel, “you taught me what love means.”
oh i miss mondstadt and the winery and my first joy of genshin 🥹 diluc the man that you are. you have not gone forgotten in my mind i promise

Divine Beasts - Imposter + SAGAU (Crossover)
Synopsis: You've fallen into the world of Teyvat, heard the news of a Divine Creator, and now everyone is out to get you for holding Their face. On the bright side, at least you have some friends to help you out.
Notes: Contains Pokemon, entirely self-indulgent, some OOC, contains violence, Jean gets punched in the stomach by a monkey, mild blood, mentions of burning but under Pokemon/Genshin logic
"...Nowhere to hide, Charlatan!"
How'd you get in this situation again? Let's rewind to the start.
Before this entire hot mess, you're just the run-of-the-mill gamer. You work a steady job and you can afford to spend some money on whatever game catches your attention. You like to think you have a wide palate of game genres, but you also held a soft-spot for the Pokemon franchise, having beaten Platinum version when you were little. Your well-loved Infernape doll holds fond memories of snuggling it under the covers when your mother tucks you to bed.
You have an entire shelf dedicated to Pokemon, from the games, to memorabilia, and even some self-made plushies you made by crocheting. Although your Gengar looks lop-sided, you're proud to have made it.
Recently, one of your friends recommended you play a game called Genshin Impact. You weren't entirely sure of what to think of the game, at first. As much as you liked to grind for the best stats (All those hours of EV training rears its ugly head), Genshin seemed to be a game where you have to play it extensively in order for you to do anything.
But with a bit of prodding and assistance from your friend, you found a nice gameplay loop, farming for materials while progressing the story line. You weren't at all playing to the meta, and while you did spend money for a Welkin, you mostly made sure not to fall to the game's gacha. You made sure that your characters at least had decent stats, and while your artifacts were kind of terrible, you were pretty satisfied with the team composition you have built.
"...And that should be the last of my resin," You say to yourself, leaning back into your chair and stretching your arms. You were running rather low on mora, so you farmed as much of the golden leylines as you could before your resin ran out. Just as you were about to close the game, you quickly drew your hand back when a yelp escapes from your mouth. Your hand shakes, tingling with an unknown power. Before you could try and call an ambulance, your consciousness ran away from you, and you fell headfirst into your keyboard.
When the police came to bust open your door, they would quickly send for an ambulance to retrieve your body.
Waking up to see blue skies when you were indoors was not at all a fun experience. After crying for a bit, processing just what happened before you fell to the strange world, you decide to at least start looking for any body of water. Thankfully, you managed to spot a river and picked up a wooden branch that acted as some sort of staff. "I always saw myself as a polearm user..." You mused to yourself, before pausing and staring at the strange humanoid creatures dancing a good distance before you. A train of thought came crashing in your mind.
"Oh shit, I'm in Genshin Impact!"
Well apparently your outburst caught the attention of the hilichurls. You quickly pointed your staff at the monsters, but lowered it when they began to excitedly nudge you towards they camp instead of outright attacking you. When you get to their camp, they sat you down on a piece of cloth and placed a crown of flowers on your head, offering you cooked meat. Not wanting to offend them, you took the meat and ate it, causing the other hilichurls to exclaim with glee. An anemo samachurl lowers its head, all while presenting you with a belt with brightly colored orbs hanging from it. Figuring that it must contain some kind of elemental energy you can use to defend yourself, you thanked the samachurl and attached it to your person.
After some jubilation and even dancing (Who knew mitachurls can do a mean boogie?), the hilichurls packed a bag of jerky-like strips of meats and fruits, tying it to your staff in a bindle. Waving goodbye to the oddly friendly camp of hilichurls, you continued your journey next to the river in high spirits. You didn't mean to get your hopes up, but you were certain your encounter with joyful hilichurl tribe must be a sign of things to come!
That was until you stepped foot in Mondstadt, though.
Although the knights at the front of the gate paid you no mind when you walked into the walled city, the minute you let your hood down did things quickly started going sideways.
Sara of the Good Hunter immediately started screaming when she saw your face, crying out "BLASPHEMY!" and all sorts of things, catching the attention of the local populace. Suddenly, you were running away from the Knights of Favonius, the sworn protectors of Mondstadt. And as it turns out, you were being pursued by none other than the Dandelion Knight, Jean Gunnhildr. It also appears that this Teyvat seems to take after your own game, Jean wielding the sword you gave to her.
...And all that leads you to here, backed up against the giant tree in Windrise. You turn to face the knights, Jean looking at you with a stern expression. You could almost see the storm in her eyes.
"Surrender now, Charlatan." Jean stated, pointing her sword at you. You gulp and press yourself against the bark of the tree. If looks could kill you swear Jean would have killed you many times over. "You will answer for defiling the sanctity of their Grace's image. Their Highness will bring upon you the judgement you rightly deserve."
From what little you remember of playing Jean's story quest, you were fairly certain that the Jean standing before you would never act like this, threatening her enemy at swordpoint. But then again, you are definitely certain there was no mention of this "Grace" she keeps talking about. There was no time to dwell upon unanswered questions though, you are about to be apprehended and there was no way the fate you would receive would be anything good.
A million thoughts raced through your mind before you recalled the belt of colored orbs the samachurl would give you. Before the knights could react, you tore a bright orange orb from your belt and tossed it to the ground. You shield your eyes from the resulting explosion, and when the smoke clears your jaw falls to the ground.
Standing between you and the knights was your beloved Infernape. It was crazy, but you knew this was the same Infernape you lovingly raised when you played the game she came from.
"Gah! What is that?!" One of the knights yelled. "I don't know, but be wary men! We can't let the Charlatan escape!" Another answered.
At that moment, you knew what you had to do. Pointing your finger at Jean, you screamed a command.
"Infernape, use Double Team!"
At your call, your partner immediately began running around, leaving afterimages of herself. The knights and Jean tried to find the real one, but soon the weaker fighters fell to the strength of the Infernape, leaving only Jean standing. She gripped her sword tight and rushed forward, unleashing a burst of anemo. Your Infernape was pushed back, but did not falter, baring her teeth at Jean.
"Flame Wheel!"
The flame on the monkey's head burned bright as she launched herself towards Jean, curling into herself and crashing into the Dandelion Knight, the blonde pushing herself up from the burning ground and gritting her teeth.
"What manner of beast is this?!-" She gasped out, feeling her skin burn. Jean moves to attack again, but you quickly yelled out another command.
"Brick Break, now!"
Your Infernape's fist glow a bright red as she moves to collide with Jean, sending a flurry of punches towards the knight. Through her pain, Jean weaved and ducked under the swings of the Infernape's fist, but soon fell when the monkey got in a hit to her stomach. Jean lets out a sharp cry, doubling over and coughing up blood. Your Infernape winds up a final punch, but before she could unleash it on Jean you screamed, holding out your hand.
"Infernape, return!"
The Infernape's body glows a bright orange and returns to your belt, becoming an orb once more. Though you feel very bad about beating up Jean and the Knights of Favonius, you are not going to stick around and find out if they sent a back up team. You remove the sky blue and black orb from your belt, and out comes your Honchkrow.
The Honchkrow caws at you, preening your hair. You smile and pat his beak. "Hey bud, nice to meet you for real." Getting to know your Pokemon will have to wait, though. You can see Jean trying to raise herself from the ground. With a heavy heart, you climb unto the back of your Honchkrow, giving Jean a regretful expression.
"Fly."
When Barbara came to the scene to tend to her sister's wounds, all that was left of the Charlatan was burnt grass, and dark feathers.

the 'evil imposter' just wants to be a baker!
Prologue: The Foodie turned Imposter?!
Part 5: Burning Pinecones
[ part 4.5 ] || [ masterlist ] || [ part 6 ]
divider is made by @/saradika-graphics
warnings: the usual violence/blood for sagau fics.
"Traveller, would you like to accept a personal quest from me?"
Aether stared dubiously at the man in front of him, which the Cavalry captain noticed "Come on, aren't we friends?" The blond and Paimon stared at him incredulously, then the two travelling partners stared at each other, engaging in a mental conversation.
'Do they not trust me that much?' Kaeya felt a bit hurt but brushed it off when the duo turned to him once more. "You're not going to ask us to hunt down this 'imposter' are you?"
It was the blue haired man's turn to stare at them flabbergasted "My, you think so little of me. Haven't you heard the saying Innocent until proven guilty?" "We know that!" Paimon huffed "it's just. . you're still in the knights of Favonius, We're surprised you haven't gone all. ."
"Murderous" Aether offered.
"Yeah! It's a surprised you aren't as murderous as Jean and Lisa were with this lookalike." Paimon pointed out. "That's fair, but I would prefer knowing all the details before acting."
Aether sighed, "all right, then I'm guessing you want us to track down the lookalike and gather information to help decide whether they are the imposter or not. . right?"
"Astute as ever dear Traveler" Kaeya clapped with a Cheshire like grin. "Why can't you do it though?" The traveler questioned "You're more familiar with the region as a resident of Mondstadt."
"Be that as it may, I am a member of the Knights. I expect Jean will be ordering all of us in a mandatory man-hunt for the 'Imposter.' You two on the other hand have a chance of not partaking in it in the guise of already being on a separate quest."
Aether and Paimon frowned, "are they really set on killing them?" He asked, he did not like this, he did not like how they were acting. Upon first meeting them, they seemed reliable and level-headed, now they seemed like. .
"Faith does a lot of things to a person traveler, Paimon. You will find that once word spreads across Teyvat that person will no know peace, even if they end up really being the Creator. So hopefully you find them first."
Golden eyes stared into periwinkle eyes. "Should I warn them about everything?"
Kaeya combed his locks "I'll leave that decision to your judgement in character. I should go now, I have a feeling that Jean will have someone call for me soon."
"Then me and Paimon will head out now, but. . have you any idea where they might be?"

Thanks to the effort of the Samuchurl and the other hilichurls you had recovered quickly. All though the scars remained littering your body, still the pain that lingered was gone, you were no longer bothered by the lingering effects of electro from Lisa's attacks.
Your stomach was no longer empty and you were no longer in tattered clothes. The Pajamas although salvaged was now in a rucksack, you debated on whether throwing it away but seeing as it is your last memento of a life so far away from your grasps. . you decided to keep it in the end.
Now however, what draped your body was clothes that you could only describe as traditional or ethic, the type of clothes you'd see hilichurls wear. Luckily it fitted you and covered you properly considering hilichurl clothings usually cover the lower half of the body if you compared it to the in-game models. It reminded you of Claude's first attire in 'who made me a princess'*.
However the Hilichurls did not wear shoes so you had were still going to be walking barefoot. Dvalin or rather in the current timeline, Stormterror, had not returned to the area, you assumed he would be with the abyss mages or terrorizing mondstadt so you weren't scared for your safety (not like Dvalin would ever hurt you but you don't know that-) and you could stay with the hilichurls and your pyro buddy who were the best company right now!
Still. . you can't help but let your eyes linger away from the hilichurl camp. Despite the trauma that would no doubt haunt you for a long time, you still wanted to just. . explore Teyvat and everything it had to offer, well except for the people, you wanted to try the cuisine, wear there clothes and if it seemed like you'd be stuck here till you die. . maybe open up a shop or find a permanent home.
Inazuma would be nice as it would be based on Japan, but Liyue's culture also caught your eye. . but then Mondstadt's scenery, Fontaine's architecture and fashion. . .
"So while the hilichurls were busy you decided to take a walk, of course, some inkling inside you knew to avoid any humans and since your choices were either the brightcrown canyon teeming with enemy mobs or go south and find your way to dawn winery and then wolvendom. .
Brightcrown canyon was your choice of course.
"What-" you stare at the pyro slime that was angrily bouncing in front of you, as if stopping your escape. "I'm just going to take a walk."
It's stare was unnerving, clearly not wanting you to go anywhere else but the hilichurl camp. "I'm not going near any mondstadters if that helps my case!"
It stopped, blinking and then began happily prancing around you in circles.
You chuckled at the cute pyro slime as you scoped him in your hands, you didn't question how you weren't harmed by its flames, you were afraid to know what that means for you after all. Would that be considered proof of being an imposter?

"Okay so last that anybody has heard of this creator lookalike, is that they fell off the cliff behind the headquarters of the knights and landed in Cider Lake" Paimon repeated as she and Aether were just outside of the city, across the bridge and in front of a fork in the road.
The left road would lead back to the whispering woods then to the lake, then the beach where they came from when Aether first came to Mondstadt. The middle one would lead to Wind rise and farther off would be cape oath. Then the path that led to the right of them would lead to a small village named Springvale, then to dawn winery and Wolvendom and the farthest place there would be Stormterror's lair.
They stared at the map that Kaeya had kindly given them, marked with numerous locations that were well known in Mondstadt. "Okay then what happened after is that Stormterror came during the commotion which led to a chance for the person to escape. . then when they fell into the lake, followed by soldiers trying to catch them. . Stormterror took a sip or rather bite out of the lake and ate the people there?"
Aether continued with a distraught looking expression as he tried to imagine it, well he didn't have to imagine it for long because due to a commotion near the lakeside he turned, finding Amber and a few knights pulling a net which contained fish, clothes and . . dismembered limbs.
Paimon paled, floating behind him as she covered her eyes.
Despite the nauseating feeling he approached to inquire about the bodies, it would be bad if the creator lookalike had been eaten by Stormterror. "Oh Traveler come here!" Amber waved over as he gulped but nonetheless reluctantly got closer. The smell of iron filled their noses, nauseating them.
"A-are you finding the 'lookalike' I heard they fell into the lake?" Aether offered, trying to ignore the close up looks of the bodies in his peripheral vision. "Yes, we are looking for the 'imposter' we need to make sure they're dead." The outrider corrected, with a disturbing look the travelling duo could not quite place for a lack of better terms.
The blond haired boy scrutinized the outrider in front of him, sure they had a rough first meeting when Amber was very suspicious of him but he got past that because she was doing her job, this however. . hunting down a person just because of the face they were born with, was this her job as well as an outrider? as a knight of Favonius? This was not the person he respected, and that made it all the more disappointing.
This entire situation flabbergasted him, perhaps it was because he was not of this world but. . was it common sense to hunt someone down and kill them on sight for having the face of a God? would there be no trial? no interrogation or due process? He understood the appeal to devote ones self to the Creator, for he felt their lingering warmth and love even from an inanimate statue in their image.
He also understood that there was a prophecy of an imitator, a devil disguising themselves as the creator and being a sign of chaos, and sure Mondstadt was in a chaotic state but what if the prophecy wasn't real? prophecies weren't exactly reliable anyways and was it worth risking the chance of harming and offending their Creator if that person wasn't an imposter??
"What got you so quiet?" Amber noticed as the boy flinched, "nothing, it's just the smell is bothering me."
"Oh- that's fair, Sorry for making you come closer I should have approached you instead" she at least had the nerve to be sheepish about it "This is the first time Stormterror killed someone. Mostly they have been causing disturbances with the storms and some injuries here and there, but this would be the first recorded casualties."
"Does that mean, Stormterror's gotten ticked off by something?"
"Probably, it's probably because of the Imposter" the brown haired girl's lips had thinned considerably "I guess Stormterror has a bit more common sense to attack the Imposter as well. That's nice at least, if only he had finished the job."
Aether forced himself to laugh awkwardly, "well, I uh see. . anyways I need to go. I have a quest to fulfill."
Not really noticing his behavior, Amber offered something with a smile "Oh where are you headed? I'll be going on a search and exterminate party with a small group of knights maybe we could join together and help each other."
"Maybe some other time-" Paimon finally spoke, cutting Aether off "Sure! Where are you headed?" Amber who brushed off what Aether was originally going to say "We're going to comb the areas around the lake, if Stormterror didn't managed to kill the imposter then it's likely that they were able to swim to the shores."
"Wait-" Paimon quickly elbowed her friend before turning to Amber "then uhh, we'll pick the farthest one, it's more important that we find the Imposter after all, right Aether?"
"I- oh yeah, I guess." he quickly said after realizing why Paimon was agreeing to the suggestion.
Paimon's eyebrows had ticked in annoyance at the subpar acting Aether possessed. Honestly, could he not be so obviously weird about the imposter-lookalike situation!
Amber meanwhile smiled "That's great!" she was none the wiser "It's nice to see you prioritizing the more important things in life!"
She unrolled the map as she let them take their first pick, Paimon and Aether glanced at each other, wondering which place should they take.
Their outrider friend(?) was called away by a knight so they spoke in hush whispers. "where do you think they'd go. ." aether hummed as paimon whacked him in the head, "hey!" he hissed "what was that for!"
"For you terrible acting, could you be anymore obvious?? You know we have to find them first!" Paimon complained tugging at his ear, "right look sorry!" he swatter her much smaller hand away "but we have to choose now."
Paimon bit her lip "but what if we picked the wrong location and Amber and the others find her first. ." The traveler sighed "It's a risk we have to take, hopefully. . her luck doesn't run out."

"I need some herbs and spices, oh and some more sweet flowers and berries. . It'd be nice if I could catch some meat too." You absentmindedly said, as your pyro slime friend stared at you curiously, you love food after all so it's not entirely weird to be collecting ingredients.
The rucksack on your shoulder was already filled with mint, mushrooms, matsutakes, pinecones, sweet flowers and a few carrots. It was getting fairly heavy but still, you were excited to begin cooking with the ingredients and food that Teyvat had to offer. Would the mushrooms taste even slightly different from the ones in real life? is sweet flower sugar a better type of sugar than the one in real life as well? what about pinecones? how do they taste? she actually tried biting it but it wasn't any good, since the description of the item in-game was about having oil-rich seeds you assume it was either a substitute for cooking oil or the seeds are actually eaten or could add a taste to the few recipes that used them in the game like the hash browns.
"Want one?" you offered an apple to the pyro slime who shook in your hold, "so that's a no. Do you prefer sticks and coal? or what about pine cones?"
The pyro elemental being stared at the pinecone you handed him, and proceeded to eat it, simply by burning it inside of him. "Oh. ."
Luckily he seemed to like it enough when he jiggled like a happy jello. "We really need a name for you!**" you smile, petting him. There was a couple that went to your mind however before you could decide you stop by the coast or shores of the lake, you could see Mondstadt in the distance where the city was under dark gloomy skies.
'serves them right'
your eyes widened, surprised at your own bitter thoughts, one part of you loathed the city that traumatized you and rejected you but a part of you couldn't help but think of the poor people. .
"it's going to be okay, the traveler will save Dvalin and everything will be fine."
You basked in the sounds of the water and the chirping of the birds, as the smell of burning pine cones and freshwater filled your nostrils. You felt a sense of calm despite seeing the city under a blanket of darkness, from the looming dark clouds above it.
*snap!* body freezing up as you hear footsteps and the shaking of bushes. Your pyro slime friend jumped out of your hands, wiggling threateningly at the direction of the noise.
Turning slightly, you see two people getting out of the bushes. A boy with long blond hair, braided neatly and another, much smaller, floating near the other with silver hair.
Aether and Paimon. .
*this is claude, of course the clothes are not that open so your chest is covered (tho depending on you there may be a side-boob view (based on the shirt cut meme)) ** I will be posting a poll for the pyro slime's name, you are free to recommend names here, and if a name has been chosen, the person who gave the idea can request for a special chapter from this series (that can happen canonically, or not, or in a diff region.) however if a name I have suggested for has been chosen then I'll give a list of ideas for special chapters you can vote on that will be written.

If We Have Each Other - Alec Benjamin

Heart be pure, evil be erased. Mind be purged, world be saved.
It was one of the few times Chongyun remembered the full line of the demon-expelling mantra he’d dedicated his life’s practice upon. The cold air of Dragonspine mixed well with his Cryo Vision, creating a naturally calm atmosphere that he could otherwise never truly experience. A normal person, one who had not been gazed upon by the gods with interest, would find being surrounded by one pure element rather uncomfortable. Be it any of the seven elements, with perhaps the exception of Hydro, only Vision bearers understood the pure bliss that came along with the total envelopment of their Archon-given gift.
The snap of the harsh wind and crunch of frozen snow underfoot was familiar yet unfamiliar at the same time. Liyue did not experience harsh weather conditions like Mondstadt did. Only once can Chongyun remember the fall of snow in the harbor, but that had been the first and last time he had seen it within his homeland. Cryo wasn’t as accessible as Hydro and Geo were in Liyue, so he had to travel out to Dragonspine to calm his mind in order to be able to sensibly approach the questions running rampant inside his head.
Chongyun had been to the snowy mountain once before. His best friend– a skip in his heart beat at the thought was quickly settled by the sheer cold seeping into his skin– sent him on a wild chase at the false lead of an evil spirit running rampant. In truth, there had been nothing but samachurls to rid the world of. Despite the fever he had run after climbing off of the mountain, likely due to the sudden changes in elevation and climate rather than anything to do with his yang energy, he had been wishing to return back. There was little in Liyue that could match the serenity he felt when fully enveloped in his own element for the first in a long time.
A snow-colored rabbit scampered off in the barren trees to his left, and Chongyun repeated the mantra to himself once more. It wasn’t that he was afraid of what lurked on the mountain since there was little that he couldn’t handle alone; he simply found comfort in the words. Mixed with the calmness he felt when the gales ruffled his loose-fitting shirt, he believed he could finally tackle the thoughts that had been plaguing his mind.
Owls that thrived in the cold climates called to one another, their voices amplified in the winds carrying them. Chongyun let the sound drill into his brain and pick out the first thought to come to mind. The image of the second heir to the Feiyun Commerce Guild– a Hydro Vision bearer– his best friend– was dropped into his hands by the owls. Subconsciously, he knew that was the main reason he made the journey to Dragonspine. Xingqiu had been doing the same things as he always did, but for some reason, something had changed in Chongyun. Something that he needed a clear head to challenge.
That didn’t make the thoughts any easier to breech. A part of him wanted to take the conflicting feelings and cover them with snow. Better yet, he should use his claymore to dig out a hole in the frozen ground and bury them deep within. It would certainly be much easier that way. However, ignoring problems was not the exorcist way. Doing such a deed would directly conflict with all of the lessons he’d been taught and the morals carefully ingrained in him since before he could talk.
He couldn’t feel his fingertips particularly where, and Chongyun determined that was where he would start. Xingqiu was the same boy he’d known for years, yet the past few months had caused a sudden change when the exorcist regarded his friend. The most noticeable development had been the pure anxiety he felt. It was peculiar when it would occur, though. Previously, Chongyun had only felt nervous when they ate together on account of his friend having the nasty habit of sneaking spices in the cold dishes made for the highly-sensitive boy.
The nervousness he felt now had less to do with the spice and more about the mundane aspects of eating out. What he was going to where and what Xingqiu would think about it, if he bored his friend with his talks of exorcism techniques, and whether or not the jokes he made were humorous enough to make sure that the laughter from Xingqiu’s lips were genuine.
The thought of laughter sparked a new train of thought, one that had to do with his anxiety but with a physical addition. When Chongyun heard his friend laugh, witnessed a bright smile, or even got to hear about another book that Xingqiu was invested in, his yang energy would act up. It was worrisome, for he would constantly have to replenish his popsicles after just one day of hanging out with his friend. And he dare not run out of popsicles, especially now with his heightened anxiety– the ordeal that would follow after would be too mortifying to bear.
That wasn’t even to mention what would occur when Xingqiu would touch him. A stinging sensation lingered in every place his friend dared to lay even a finger on. It could be something as simple as a brush of the shoulder, or something as big as tackling him to the ground for one reason or another. Anywhere that was grazed with Xingqiu’s touch would still be phantomly felt in the late hours when Chongyun tried to find sleep. It was an uncomfortable problem, yet he knew that it wasn’t a problem he wished would end.
Confusing: that was the only word that could be used to describe his muddled feelings. The rapid beating of his heart, his clammy hands, and the flushing of his neck and cheeks. There was the conflicting side of that aspect as well, which could be only characterized by a certain dejectedness. An inferior feeling, the notion that he didn’t belong and couldn’t match up to what Xingqiu wants in a friend. They were of different social classes, and though the heir didn’t ever mention it, Chongyun had taken notice.
Perhaps he wanted to impress Xingqiu. He hadn’t felt that need, though, in the many years that their long friendship had lasted. As far as he could tell, Xingqiu hadn’t changed his behavior in any way. He’d always been a bit cruel in a way that Chongyun enjoyed, had wonderful taste in clothing and literature, and had given the exorcist valuable questions to dwell on that would ultimately better himself as an exorcist.
There was only one other significant change in their relationship, but it had less to do with Chongyun and more so with Xingqiu’s home life. It was well-known in their little friend group the kind of household the young heir grew up and still resided in. More recently, the situation had gotten significantly worse. Though Xingqiu did his best to hide it, the emotional toll it had taken on him was clear to anyone that knew him well.
This led to the two hanging out more often. The anxieties doubled, and it made Chognyun feel awful when he knew how much worse his friend had it. The nerves seemed oddly attributed, and he’d tried to discard it for so long in order to focus on comforting his friend. Eventually, he decided enough was enough. If he couldn’t settle out his own problems that were practically impossible to ignore, then he wouldn’t be able to help his friend at all.
Xingqiu had carefully hidden his despondency when Chongyun told him he was leaving for Dragonspine for an undetermined amount of time, just long enough for him to sort through his own brain. However, being his friend for a decade, the exorcist was able to see through Xingqiu’s facade easily. It pained him at the time, and even now his stomach felt a little sour at the reminder. But he knew it was better for both of them if he found the root of his problems and plucked them like overgrown weeds.
The trail started to become steep, meaning Chongyun had to focus on his step a little more. He had to plant his feet down in the snow at just the right angle and with enough force so he wouldn’t go sliding back down the mountain. Ahead of him and to his right, he saw a pair of deer rubbing against each other. By the look of his antlers, the bigger one was a buck while the slightly smaller and paler one was the doe.
Chongyun stopped walking in fear of startling the skittish creatures, and the pause in action allowed him to give them his full attention to the animals. They were both considerably large when he compared them to the ones he’d seen in Liyue, but they were a lot lighter in color. That was likely due to their naturally-developed camouflage to match their surrounding terrain. If Chongyun wasn’t so perceptive, he could’ve easily missed them.
The pair bumped foreheads, the buck’s antlers encasing the doe’s ears. When the buck’s hoof stamped the ground, the doe turned to rub her cheek against his. This seemed to calm him down, and he moved to reciprocate the favor. The following position looked something like a hug, for the deers’ necks were wrapped around each other and their heads were resting on the other. Their hot air from their noses crystallized in the air around them, creating a mist effect. It captured the true nature of love.
Chongyun was left in a daze. The love of two animals were displayed before him, yet all he could picture in his mind was his best friend. It was then that the deepest parts of his subconscious were starting to come forward. His heart had understood long before his brain did. His hands shook and his eyes went dry, leaving him to come to slowly come to terms with the feelings he had been dealing with for months.
The deer moved suddenly, their heads snapping up to look beyond Chongyun. They pranced away immediately after, leaving the exorcist behind to face whatever had startled the poor creatures. Turning around, he found the object of their fright: a Cryo Abyss Mage.
It laughed deviously, a hand over its mouth and rolling in its bubble. The exorcist narrowed his eyes, forming a plan in his head. He had little protection on his body on account of abandoning his normal clothes– he had wanted to experience the mountain as he did before, with just a short-sleeved shirt and loose-fitting pants. Unfortunately, it would help little in protecting his skin from the harmful crystals of a mage.
Chongyun side-stepped as the mage cast a crystal to fall on his head, summoning his claymore in the process. In battles such as these, he wished he had been blessed with the element of Pyro, just for the sake of the Cryo shield being impossible to break with the Vision he actually possessed. None the matter, he would simply have to do it the hard way.
Except, he never got the chance. He stepped too far off the trail, too close to the Abyss Mage, and the snow broke under his feet. Chongyun knew not to stray from the trail, since the snow was liable to cover ice ravines and frozen rivers that would be incredibly difficult to get out of, even for someone with a Vision. If he had gotten stuck somewhere, he’d never hear the end of it from Xingqiu.
It all happened too fast. An exorcist was trained to react immediately and use whatever materials were at their disposal. Chongyun had spent years perfecting his reaction time, yet there would always be a situation where the world moved too fast for even the most adept exorcist in the world. Such was this case, where in one moment he was brandishing his claymore, and in the next he was enveloped in an underground river.
Chongyun knew how to swim. Swimming against the rushing turrets of the cold, cold water was not the biggest issue; it was the ice that blocked his way up. The Abyss Mage was directly above him, from what he could make out in the distorted reflection cast upon the ice. Its constant Cryo application from its shield hardened the ice. The exorcist was unable to break through, and the current fought against him too hard.
There was a certain panic from asphyxiation that couldn’t be matched by anything else. Choking, drowning, strangulation, or mere asthma: being deprived of oxygen was unlike any other feeling possible in Teyvat. The dark waters, where Chongyun could no longer see anything, kept him flowing down the frozen river.
He grasped at anything he possibly could: any roots underground, his resummoned claymore, or the fish passing by that he couldn’t actually see. The water made gripping anything impossible. His chest closed in on itself, and he couldn’t breathe. It was terrible, and all he could think about was how he told Xingqiu he wouldn’t be gone for too long in the mountain.
Dragonspine was dangerous. He was warned time and time again, but he had a Cryo Vision, and was a trained exorcist– he thought he could handle it. But the ice wouldn’t break away, and he couldn’t reach up to try and dig away at the snow above him, hiding his body from any living being on the mountain. He couldn’t breathe, and for the first time, it was too cold. The freezing water rushed into his brain from his ears and eventually from his open mouth as it became too difficult to not attempt to breathe.
He wasn’t sure when he lost sight, or when the water that was filling his lungs finally choked him out for good. All he knew was that he couldn’t feel anything anymore. All he knew was that it was getting incredibly hard to think of anything at all. The only thing he knew, for certain amongst all the other certainties of his inevitable death, was that his Vision was no longer illuminating the abyssal darkness.
—
A man walked through the mountain, a sketchbook tucked under his arm to protect it from the steadily falling snow. It was obvious that he was well-adapted to the climate, from the pace of his every breath to the calculated yet efficient way he walked.
He was mumbling to himself. The air crystallized around his mouth instantly, almost blinding him. Yet he wasn’t deterred by the constant cloud around his eyes. He continued to walk on.
The man stopped suddenly, and the forest became deadly silent. No birds chirped and no snow crunched underfoot. Even the wind stilled. Nothing appeared out of the ordinary, but his keen blue eyes were locked onto something in the distance. He took two hesitant steps forward, his gray and royal blue boots dragging in the snow, before taking off into a sprint.
In the middle of his slightly-panicked run, he managed to tuck his sketchbook into the back of his pants. In fact, the snow underneath his feet and the flakes falling in front of his face didn’t seem to hinder him in any way. It was as if he was running along a perfectly-paved road.
Eventually, he came upon the sight he had set his eyes upon. It was a hole in the ice where stones and dirt abruptly narrowed the river hidden underneath the layers of snow. Water bubbled out the top, but that wasn’t what had caught the man’s attention.
He bent down at the hole before reaching down past the arm and head of blue hair sticking out of the water. The man pulled the figure out of the river by his armpits. He heaved his way through the process, his Geo Vision pulsing from the energy he pulled from it.
Once he pulled the figure— a boy— out of the water, he checked the other’s pulse before pushing on his chest. Between the chest compressions, he used his sketchbook and Geo Vision to create gauze and other aid for the wounds all across the pale boy’s body.
It wasn’t until after he got the boy to cough up the majority of the water in his lungs that he saw the Vision that had washed ashore. The normal glow of ambition and life had faded away.
—
The minute Chongyun became aware of himself, a sharp pain thudded in his skull. He groaned, attempting to push himself off the bed he was on. It was harder than he’d liked to admit, also considering the fact that he had no idea where he was or how he’d gotten there.
He didn’t have a lot of time to take in his surroundings until he found a very familiar boy sitting in a chair beside his bed. The look on his face was one of pure neutrality, if not for the slight upturn of the corner of his lips.
The first two emotions Chongyun had felt since he’d woken up was confusion and pure panic. It was never good when Xingqiu got that look on his face. The exorcist knew he was about to get yelled at, yet he didn’t know why. He didn’t know what happened, how he got here, and why Xingqiu was so mad at him.
Then it started:
“How are you feeling?” Xingqiu asked. His voice was chipped and collected. Restrained and controlled. Chongyun could feel the sweat roll off of his face despite the chill in the room that he could now recognize as a sterilized infirmary.
“Uh… My head hurts…” he said. “I don’t even know what happened, so you can’t yell at me yet. Oh, did I eat something spicy?”
At this, the almost-polite smile on his face dropped completely. Xingqiu crossed one leg on top of the other and leaned forward, resting his chin on the palm of his hand. “You drowned, Chongyun. You almost— you almost died.”
It wasn’t as angry as Chongyun expected, but the choked sound that came from the back of his friend's throat was worse than any fury sent from the abyss. Xingqiu didn't look angry. He looked hurt.
Chongyun didn’t deal with other’s emotions very well. It made him freeze up when he was confronted with it, and he could only help in subtle ways when they weren’t so strong. But with the memories from his day in the mountain came flooding back, he remembered the deer. And he remembered the way the river closed in on his lungs and drifted his last thoughts.
He didn’t think, he just spoke like it was the end of the world.
“I love you.”
The words surprised him like he wasn’t the one that said them and wholeheartedly believed them. For Xingqiu, it looked like it had a very different effect on him.
Tears started streaming down his face before he was able to get the beginning word out. Chongyun wasn’t sure what to make of it. If anything, he was scared, because he just told his best friend that he loved him and it was entirely true.
“No, you can’t say something like that. I know you love me,” Xingqiu said, “but not the way that I love you. You can’t just— you can’t go off and try to die and then break my heart into more pieces. You can’t keep doing this to me. Don’t leave me. Please, don’t leave me. I love you too much.”
Chongyun wasn’t sure what he’d done, but what he did know was that whatever he did had fully broken his friend. His words weren’t colorful and full of life as though he was cursed to only speak in rhymes. Instead, the heir was sobbing, his fingers furiously wiping at his eyes as he tried to keep eye contact with the exorcist.
But not the way I love you. He loved Xingqiu, more than could be described for a friend and even more than a crush. It had been festering for so long, but Chongyun had spent too long shoving away his own emotions to see that he’d put his best friend through the worst torture alive.
But perhaps it was a little relieving to know that his love wasn’t unrequited.
Chongyun leaned to the side and took a hold of Xingqiu’s thin wrists. His bony structure was descriptive to the true strength he wielded in his blade work. Anyone that looked at him would see him as unassuming, but the exorcist knew better. He knew Xingqiu better than anyone else alive.
A chill spread at Chongyun’s hip where his Vision rested. Xingqiu had once told him that his cold hands had a calming effect on him, so he used his power to amp up the coolness a little more. “I’m not going anywhere,” he soothed.
Xingqiu hiccuped through his sobs. His friend didn’t cry a lot, which made the sight of it then feel sacrilegious. “I’ve loved you for so long. I know you don’t…”
“Xingqiu, I love you. I love you the way you love me.” The stars of disbelief his best friend was giving Chongyun could've killed and buried him ten times over. “I’m not leaving you. I want to be with you,” he said, attempting an awkward smile that always got Xingqiu to reciprocate, even just a little.
“It’s been years. I caught feelings for you the moment I laid my eyes on you,” Xingqiu breathed out.
Chongyun moved his hands away from his friend’s wrists and to his face so he could wipe away the tears falling down his face. His headache raged on and he could still feel the phantom river water clogging his lungs, but the way Xingqiu leaned into his touch eased his pain.
Despite the puffiness of his eyes and the ugly sniffling noise he was emitting, Xingqiu was still the same boy he’s grown up with and for the first time in his life, Chongyun realized just how badly he needed this.
“I really want to kiss you,” he whispered, matching Xingqiu’s voice level. The nod from the heir was all the exorcist needed to close the gap between their lips.
There wasn’t any time to process the kiss, for it ended as soon as it started. The door to the infirmary room open, and the two boys pulled apart immediately. Though, the blush on Xingqiu’s cheeks indicated that the abrupt ending to the kiss was against his wants.
“Chongyun, I’m glad you are awake,” the man said in a monotone voice. “How are you feeling?”
His head was filled with hair the color of sunlight, and the colors and emblem on his clothes indicated an association with the Knights of Favonius in Mondstadt. Chongyun had been to Mondstadt, of course, but he couldn’t recall this person at all.
“My head hurts and my throat feels clogged, but uh… who are you, Sir? And where exactly am I?” Chongyun asked, although he already thought of the second question’s answer. It would be better to get them confirmed than left as mere assumptions. Plus his brain was frazzled, but not just from the headache.
The unknown Knight— presumably— didn’t get a chance to make himself known, for Xingqiu was already answering for him. “Do you remember Calx, my artist and friend from Mondstadt?” He asked, having majorly calmed down from his meltdown. “Well, turns out he’s Albedo, the Chief Alchemist and Investigation Captain for the Knights of Favonius! He sent me a letter of your whereabouts.”
That did explain the Favonius emblems and colors. Calx— or Albedo— smiled politely at him. “Albedo or Calx is fine. I found you bleeding out and drowned in a river in Dragonspine. I would give you a lesson in the dangers of the mountain, but Zenyu informed me that you’d done something similar before.”
“Ah,” Chongyun coughed, trying to hide the heat rising up his neck. “Yes. I was trying to track a demon and hid in a lake. I ran a fever afterwards, but all of that was intentional. This however… I was caught off-guard by an Abyss Mage. The ground gave away underneath me and the Mage froze the top of the river. I couldn’t escape.”
Warmth spread through Chongyun’s hand, and he glanced down to find Xingqiu’s fingers wrapped around his own. His palm pressed gently against the exorcist’s.
“Thank you for saving me, Sir Albedo, and for contacting Xingqiu,” he thanked. “How shall I repay your kindness?”
Albedo shook his head. “No need. It’s my duty as a member of the Ordo and as someone well-equipped in living in Dragonspine. I suggest wearing more than just a shirt and loose pants next time, though.”
At that advice, Xingqiu hit Chongyun’s arm. “You were suffering from a severe fever for four days on top of your unconscious ones!”
“I’m sorry, Xingqiu,” he apologized, and he meant it with his whole chest. There was a deep set regret for his actions, but not for the entire trip. If not for Dragonspine, he probably wouldn’t have realized his true feelings. If not for the accident, he would've had the courage to kiss his best friend. If not for Xingqiu, who was too distraught to think carefully through his words.
Not all of it was bad. What was bad, though, was the awkward cough from the alchemist that pulled the two boys out of their shared, deep stare.
“The healers will let you know when you can leave. I don’t have anything else to say, but if you need me, send for me. Good-bye, Zenyu and Chongyun,” he said rather uncomfortably before shuffling out of the door.
Silence was left in his wake as the exorcist processed the embarrassment he was just put through, though it was quickly replaced by the wonderful sound of Xingqiu’s laughter. It rang like sweet chimes in his ears.
“That was our cue. Where were we?” He didn’t give Chongyun any time to think before there were lips pressed against his own.
The desperation was still prevelant in the way Xingqiu clung to his arms like he was still drowning underneath the ice, and the way there were shudders in his breath and sad sparks in his eyes. The exorcist’s near death wasn’t to be forgotten. But for now, he could relish in the feeling of Xingqiu’s love for a thousand lifetimes and more.

Little Bird, why do you Sing such a Sad Tune
Weapon engineer/smort but dumb! Reader
Little bird caged in a palace, you were tossed away and forgotten, replaced by a new one, would you like me to take you away
While going to a foreign country you were caught in an accident and then suddenly found yourself in a snowy plane “wtf happened”. Luckily you had your luggage crashed down with you so you changed into some warmer clothing and tried to find some civilization around the area.
After roaming aimlessly you found quite a big city but it seemed… off. Everyone wore clothing that was way out of date “strange” you whispered while many looked at you with confusion as well.
While walked through some aisles to familiarize the place and was bumped by a fast-pacing figure “ah sorry” was all that you muttered but they just ran away then two people approached you and asked “have you seen anyone passing by” a thought came through so you simply shook your head from lack of evidence and they ran off as someone from another group calls to them.
You look around for the person that bumped you earlier but they left no trace. Continued to walk around the area but the more you saw, the more it made your spine shiver. Everywhere you went, you saw no sign of modern technology at all, not even a smartphone in sight, it would be understandable if it were a remote island but at least something vintage would be seen.
Lost in thought you bumped into another individual, they were quite rude and aggressive that is you saw what they were wearing, similar to the outfits worn in a popular game you’ve been playing for a while, and now that you think about it the same people who asked you about the person that bumped you.
You thought for a little but couldn’t put your finger on it without enough fractions to support your conclusion so you explore on a wider radius.
That is until you realize you don’t have a place to put your bags and might be called even more suspicious just carrying your bags like a terrorist. You didn’t have money, well at least teyvat money, but here you were even more broke than an unborn fetus.
So you just agreed to look like a terrorist with a bomb in their bags.
You look around the nearby forest for more clues to support your theory of where you are, and so on you march through the garden of trees to find your victim.
And there it was, the fur ball for a head with a small mask that contrasted its face with a humanoid body, A hilichurl, dancing around a fire with its mates and definitely ignoring you, and now you shall return to where they won’t hurt you-
And there stood a samachurl right beside you, holding its staff while you stare at it in horridness as it then swings its oversized stick at you “ya mom”, you sprinted out of that scene but it had alarmed the other hilichurls and now see you as a threat “ ahh damn it”
You run away from your problems with the confirmation that this is, in fact, the world you played in the mask of a traveller, Genshin Impact, and now you’re running for your life like that reckless pallad.
Out on a plain and open field, you decided to use your last resort to get out of this mess but the idea was wiped away when you hear the loud thumping steps behind you.
When you looked behind another blind fool crashed into you “that’s the second time someone bumped into me today” you thought as a giant lawachurl emerged from the trees, you scrambled your way to rise and run, and so did the fool that crashed at you.
They ran toward a direction in which you also follow since they seem to know more about this place, and after running, and running with your low stamina you pulled up your napkin and some flint to burn your napkin then threw it to the lawachurl and buy you some time.
You succeed and collapsed onto the ground and the unknown stranger approached your side with admiration pasted on their face “how did you do that?! You have no weapon or vision yet you still threw fire at it!!” You were too exhausted to answer their questions so only a loud sigh was your response.
Some time passes by until your begged rolled up to you and opened itself where your little elf popped out “master was out of the normal radius so followed master’s trail and the calculated distance travelled was unusual for master’s current stamina, therefore, was deemed in danger but signs of danger have been computed to be out of a risky distance” it reported to you and then turned to your companion “data unrecorded, who is this master?” “That unrecorded individual is my… Tour guide” you whisper to the miniature AI.
“You keep your child in your bag!?”
“… My what?”
Your “tour guide” seemed to have confused your elf for a child… Understandable to the very least I guess.
A short explanation that your “child” is an inhuman, manmade assistant to help you with calculating work is, in fact, not a child.
“Wow, you made this thing with your own bare hands, the doctor might do anything to get his hands on this if he knew” they uttered under their breath, they continued to circle your elf with great interest then stopped “what was I doing again?”
The question was out of the blue but you answered them on what you remember.
“We were running away from a lawachurl till I distracted it to buy us time and here we are”
They thought for a moment then mumbled something “I was running… running… running… Away!! I was running away!” They then grabbed your hand and started sprinting in a random direction (you had your bag this time) then your elf alerted you “two entities are located and are approaching rapidly, with the minimal data acquired, fatality from it is guaranteed" you then stopped them.
“Are these things what you’re running away from”
“We need to get away. Now.”
The two entities eventually reached you two, both emitting high danger levels with uncanny grins on their faces “my my little bird, trying to fly away from us hmm?” One of them said as the snowy ground hardened rendering feet to be immobile, the other one went down on your height and pulled by the collar “oh look, you made a friend, would you like them to come with? Little Birdie”
Og au on this is from @chocoenvy and @nicebonescomrade their tsaritsa brainrot itching my brain on all sides

svt headcanons (them as genshin impact players)
-> warnings: none !!
-> a/n: aaaaa I love writing headcanons sm bear wit me pls </3 also i wanted to save up for baizhu but i really wanted layla and i pulled for her and got mona instead im actually devastated i gotta kiss my baizhu goodbye ;-; I've been waiting for him for two years T^T
-> seungcheol:
his team : zhongli, raiden, ganyu, bennett
absolutely loves lumine over aether.
somehow has the best luck ever and almost never loses 50/50????
however, he also has the worst luck when it comes to artifacts and almost never gets good artifacts at all but he kinda deserves it for all the 50/50s he won >:[
would definitely start rage killing hilichurls, abyss mages, samachurls or literally any enemy that decides to come his way after wasting all his resins on artifacts that he does NOT!! WANT!!
never allows the rest of the boys enter his world (ESPECIALLY JEONGHAN) because they always steal ascension materials that he is in need of.
but, he also has the AUDACITY to whine and sulk if the other members don't let him in their world.
all the children in the game (qiqi and maybe even nahida included) are his own children now idc (i may or may not be projecting here).
"I even got you dinner with my o w n money and you have the audacity to reject my co-op request????"
-> jeonghan:
his team : ayato, ayaka, scaramouche, raiden
definitely put raiden and scaramouche in the same team for shits and giggles given the history the two share
he definitely has venti or childe as his avatar picture or whatever idk he just gives off that vibe.
DEFINITELY CHOSE LUMINE AT THE BEGINNING
enters people's worlds under the pretense of collecting easily available things but ends up stealing stuff like onikabutos.
stands in the sidelines when he feels like he's gonna lose his characters in a co-op fight
BIGGEST PAIMON ANTI EVER !! HE HATES EVERYTHING ABOUT HER !!!
would kill timmie's pigeons just because .
"Hey can I just collect cecilia for my venti real quick?" (those are NOT his real intentions)
-> joshua:
his team : ganyu, nilou, yae miko, xinqui
no.1 aether defender !!
LOVES LOVES LOVES HYDRO CHARACTERS FOR SOME REASON. THEYRE ALL SO PRETTY !!!
has such pretty serenitea layouts fr !! absolutely loves the serenitea pot <3333
spends so much time in making things in his serenitea pot that he doesn't even get the time to build his characters.
almost never plays in co-op mode.
knows where you get what wood and where to mine certain items BY HEART
definitely has a thing for the mirror maiden and the pyro fatui agent. he literally goes heart eyes <3___<3 for them.
"Oh sandbearer wood? You'll find it all around liyue !"
-> jun:
his team: ganyu, xiao, yanfei, razor
you can hear him screaming from across the street, even with the door to your house closed and locked everytime he loses 50/50 and gets qiqi
definitely has c6 qiqi by now. he hasn't even got her past level 1 (he's petty)
was definitely stressed when he was asked to choose between aether and lumine (he chose aether in one server and lumine in the other purely because he couldn't choose who he wanted)
cannot pronounce the mondstadt characters names for the life of him like wtf is a fischl 😐
BIGGEST GANYU LUVER <33333 HE WAS SO ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT BUILDING HER !! she's literally the only triple crowned character.
another paimon hater. he doesn't even give her a chance to speak he's clicking past it in the speed of light.
he loves the lore but hates having to read the voicelines like that takes SO. MUCH. EFFORT.
definitely gave scaramouche a goofy name and had a good giggle about it for 3 mins before he realized this name is final and it can't be changed so now he's stuck with a goofy name for his wanderer :///
"NOOOO I DIDN'T MEAN TO NAME HIM SCARAMUCUS !!!"
-> hoshi:
his team : itto (it just makes sense), childe, venti, xinyan
AETHER LUVER™
definitely cried during the inazuma archon quest. (and the inazuma world quest where they had to do that cleansing ritual)
literally gets past all the quest out of pure luck because he does NOT know how to build his characters for the life of him.
wonwoo would ocassionally help him with artifacts but that's about it.
wouldn't even want a certain character and he'd still pull for them because he likes to collect 5 stars 😧
his quest list is endless because he just never completes them.
has a teeny tiny crush on all the sumeru enemies, men and women alike (I'm most definitely projecting here)
"WHY MUST TEPPEI DIE?? *sniffle* I HATE THIS GAME SO MUCH!"
-> wonwoo:
his team : yae miko, al haitham, hu tao, nahida
probably the only one that knows how to build his characters properly.
definitely chose aether.
NOT an f2p player.
he completed the aranara quest in a single day 😰 (it took him 6.5 hours)
completed the spiral abyss 😧
hasn't opened his serenitea pot. like, at all.
he let's out a guttural scream everytime he gets yunjin in place of a 5 star he wanted (definitely projecting here, I'm not sorry
" Let me help you with your quests since I'm done with mine." (To hoshi, of course)
-> woozi:
his team : raiden, heizou, ayaka, nilou
most of his archon quests were completed by wonwoo.
chose aether in a hurry.
doesn't really pull unless he thinks the playstyle of a character suits his taste.
fought a ruin guard ONE (1) time and decided the game isn't worth it.
HATES HATES HATES DRAGONSPINE !!
only does his ascension quest if wonwoo or jun are around so that he could do the first half and they'd take care of the rest.
actually feels sorry for timmie instead of hatred the way most genshin players do :(
Just pure screams of agony because he's been made to fight a rifthound.
-> minghao:
his team : yelan, fischl, kazuha, kokomi
strictly a f2p player because he thinks it's pure insanity to even pay money for a game that he'd get tired of in two years. moreover, humans shouldn't be so greedy and must also face the downs of life (losing 50/50) and not just the ups.
is actually very interested in the lore and has probably read the genshin comic.
biggest lumine defender !!!
diluc >>>>> kaeya for some reason.
strategically builds his characters. he first builds his main team and the other characters he switches now and then, depending on the enemy he's fighting. he, then, builds the healers that are left and then the shield users that are left before getting to the characters that he personally fancies.
has reached friendship level 10 with most of his characters.
another person who actually takes some time out to build the prettiest layouts in his serenitea pot.
"Luck shouldn't be BOUGHT. It should come your way on its own. So, you getting Al Haitham through welkin doesn't really count as a win, but that's just my opinion 🥰"
-> mingyu:
his team : yae miko, al haitham, yelan, bennett
chose lumine as the traveller in one server and aether as the traveller in another server because they're both so precious to him.
has the BIGGEST, FATTEST crush on the mirror maidens and the oceanid (something about the shit-talking gets him going 😧)
he chose his team based on how hot they are, excluding bennett, of course. he chose bennett because that's his son and he's a healer.
accidentally plunges down where the npcs are walking and scares them.
only buys welkin when he REALLY wants a character (basically, if the character is hot)
is actually pretty good at building his characters, but has a horrible luck when pulling for them. and he's almost always getting yunjin like at this point bro has c6 yunjin please hoyoverse stop this madness 😰😰
only buys welkin when he REALLY wants a character (basically, if the character is hot)
has so many people in his friends list. so much so that, he's actually nearing the limit. HE DOESNT EVEN ENTER SOMEONE'S WORLD MORE THAN ONCE HE JUST HAS STRANGERS IN HIS FRIENDS LIST!!
"Oh, I don't know who deez is; they're just. THERE."
-> dokyeom:
his team : yelan, heizou, layla, fischl
LUMINE IS HIS DAUGHTER.
he's so sweet, he let's jeonghan and other people into his world every single time only for them to steal the things he really needs.
uses raiden's skill and then stands in the sidelines with jeonghan. he is NOT GETTING IN THERE AND DYING >:[
everytime he's fighting outside of co-op mode, you can hear him screaming 3 neighbourhoods away.
uses klee's skill to bomb you up when he gets mad at you.
definitely tried to ice bridge his way to inazuma when he was a low ar player and died by a lightning strike. 5 times. On different ocassions.
actually enjoyed the aranara quest because the aranaras are SO cute !!
(To jeonghan) "So...do you wanna bet who'll die first in this domain among those two?"
-> seungkwan:
his team : tighnari, xinyan, fischl, barbara
he's planning on naming his firstborn lumine.
though barbara doesn't cause a lot of damage he's actually content with the way she heals others.
he's the one fighting for his life in domains while dokyeom and jeonghan are standing in the sidelines, placing bets.
he can't even pause the game to text them in-game, so he just yells from his room.
he isn't very good with bow users but he loves tighnari's character. SO MUCH HE JUST CANT NOT PUT HIM ON HIS TEAM :(((
he refuses to switch tightnari out of his team, no matter what!! he WILL be there.
everytime paimon speaks, he gets into a one-sided conversation (argument) with her. OUT LOUD.
"CAN YOU BOTH S T O P PLACING BETS AND COME HELP ME??? YOU KNOW WE CAN GET THIS OVER WITH QUICKER IF YOU'D JUST COME HERE. IS THIS HOW YOU'RE GONNA BE IN THE MIDDLE OF AN APOCALYPSE TOO???!"
-> vernon:
his team : childe, albedo, dendro traveller, kuki
loves aether so much for an unexplainable reason. like he literally built dendro traveller with so much efforts <3
he's there for the lore.
AVOIDS GOING TO THE CHASM AND DRAGONSPINE LIKE THE PLAGUE.
is the only one that helps seungkwan out in domains.
doesn't get on co-op that often unless it's seungkwan.
takes his own sweet time in completing the archon quests insead of rushing head first into them.
if he can't complete a quest, he'd be on youtube IMMEDIATELY. if he fails the first time you are NOT gonna see him do it on his own the second time without a youtube guide.
"Oh...the chasm? You wanna go to the chasm? Ah...give me a sec, I need to use the bathroom real quick." *vernonline has left your world* (legend has it that he is still in the bathroom)
-> dino:
his team : eula, razor, hu tao, diona
always gets smacked left and right by the ruin hunter before he could dodge its attacks.
he loves lumine so much. He even has a lumine plushie.
loves getting on co-op mode with his members please he just enjoys playing with them so much <3333
he makes headcanons about the characters during his free time and gets so excited when someone asks him about it.
he WON'T stop talking about his headcanons.
sometimes he gets bored of the game but then remembers that he needs to get to the end to see how the story plays out.
anybody can join his world because this silly fool did not choose the ask before joining option. and then, he'll freak out when he sees another person in his world.
"OH MY GOD!?@*! WHO ARE YOU??? WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE??? WHAT????"
