I'm exhausted after moving too much stuff from one apartment to another, only to have to do it all again on the 18/19th, christ, insanity, spite, whichever one— save me. Thank god that'll be it for at least 6 months to a year and a half (though I still have a sinking bad feeling in my gut that my bad luck will resurface one more time tomorrow, because it has continuously done so, but at this point I think I have the energy/will of spite incarnate on my side). But any way, I was reluctantly unpacking while she came up in a conversation— Yelan that is, and I wanted to write down a little thing that i feel like I've known about, but never properly had it settle in my head, until looking something up on Reddit. I'll elaborate on it one day, but for now, I just want to note it down:

Yelan's ancestor was most certainly some sort of thaumaturge. This was noted repeatedly in the Perilous Trail portion of Liyue's Archon quest. Now before noting the quotes where this is made evident, let me grab the Oxford dictionary for a second as to define what a thaumaturge is (as baseline, as Genshin has its own little sets of laws): “A worker of wonders and performer of miracles; a magician.” Ergo, this essentially indicates pretty specifically that her family has some sort of magical lineage.

Basis for this? Archon Interlude Chapter, Act 2, “At Tunnel's End, Light”, Yelan first states the following tidbit of information, and I will bold the extra important bits to pay attention to::

Yelan: This information was left by a thaumaturge called Boyang... who, as you know, is the missing ancestor that I came here to investigate. Paimon: All this information... it was left by your ancestor? Yelan: Hundreds of years ago, two of my ancestors, brothers, were gifted the Fantastic Compass by someone of great importance. They brought this device to The Chasm and joined the war against the monsters of Khaenri'ah. Yelan: They set out together, but only one of them made it back... minus his sanity. Xiao: ...Karma. Yelan: Correct. One possibility is that when they fought alongside Bosacius, they were tainted by his karma. Neither of them had Visions, so they wouldn't have been able to resist its effects for very long.

This specifically indicates that this 'thaumaturgy' that Boyang is said to have had is entirely unrelated to any Visions, as she states that neither of them had one. Now, to finish this off with, Yanfei says the following towards the end of the quest, just before the famous ending cutscene:

Yanfei: Only when a mortal and an adeptus combine their powers can the Fantastic Compass be fully activated. Yanfei: I'm a mix of human and adeptus, so the fact that the Fantastic Compass responded to me shows that the system is still functional. Lucky for us, we also happen to have a full adeptus and a human with training in the magic arts.

Does this essentially confirm that Yelan is a thaumaturge as well to some degree? Yes, it would seem so— which is what I then relegate her 'clan' to be tied to. More to come on this in the future? Yes, most certainly.

HSR players, let me get this straight...

Ok, so my main source of knowledge of that game and its characters comes from internet osmosis (Tumblr, cutscenes on Youtube, Tumblr again...), but still, someone fact check me on this because this is hilarious if true:

There's this really smart guy who has done everything in his power to be acknowledged by the Aeon of Erudition (basically the god of knowledge), but said Aeon has never gazed down upon him in spite of all of his hard work and all of his accomplishments. In-game, he is not an Erudition unit, but rather a Hunt one. Makes sense, he wasn't chosen by that Aeon and ended up with something else (To give a Genshin example because same company and because I actually played quite a lot of that one: Kinda like Noelle expected to get an Anemo Vision, and feels conflicted that her Vision is Geo instead), it makes a lot of sense!

Got that? Was everything correct? Good.

Because, there's also this other character: A self-proclaimed "Ninja Hero" girl who's a complete and utter Chuunibyou (before anyone comes at me, yes I know it is a coping mechanism because she has a traumatic backstory, but still). She's part of a faction who are devoted to or at least heavily associated with the Aeon of the Hunt, and "joining the Hunt" and it being "a path of no return" are things that were said to her when she joined the group after one of them rescued her from her traumatic backstory event, back when she was a kid. And joining the Hunt was something she very willingly did.

You'd expect that she'd be a Hunt character then, right? Nope!

She's Erudition.

Let me repeat that:

A genius professor who canonically has, and I quote, "8 PhDs, 1 First Class Honor degree, solved a planet's energy crisis on his own, and cured lithogenesis, the king of diseases, while he was still a young man", has never been deemed as worthy by the Aeon of Erudition. To quote again "Nous (the name of the Aeon) has never batted an eye at him". That's good backstory. That's good lore. It also makes him not being Erudition make total sense. There's probably a whole character analysis you could make as to why he ended up as Hunt, too.

Which is why I find it hilarious that the manga-reading rapper girl who acts and perceives the world around her as if it was an anime-esque videogame (...which I'm just now realizing that in a meta sense it kinda is, but shhhh) is the one who gets to be Erudition instead.

Look, I know for sure that the Aeons don't select which 'Paths' people get, just like in Genshin it is not the Archons who hand out the Visions. (or at least, I don't think they do)

I also know that there might be some of what TV Tropes calls "Gameplay and Story Segregation" going on here.

But still... I love the mental image of this being like that one "i sleep - real shit" meme with Dr. Ratio trying his best to get Nous to notice him and failing, studying hard as he begins working on getting his eighth professional doctorate degree... Meanwhile Nous just looked at this random girl on the streets screaming "This is Ninjutsu Secret Techinque: Dazzling Ninja Seal!" as she's spraying graffiti spray paint on some random creep's eyes and went something along the lines of "This one right here. Yes, this one is worthy."

Just to get this out of the way: I was going to have him be from Snezhnaya because I think the Cryo nation suits him for some reason, however I realized both he and Arlecchino had relations with the moon so...

He's Arlecchino's older brother, they're twins, not because of the Genshin weird twin theories, but because of the Persona dead twin theory, of how in Portable the Fe/MC is the twin that survives the car crash.

Minato has a Hydro Vision, which if theories are correct represents having a strong desire to protect that which is important to them. If you beat Persona 3 in any form, or watch the movies, you would understand why he has this type of Vision.

"It's useful when traversing the desert, and Hydro is an element that has the greatest capacity to heal. If only it could heal internal turmoil."

Minato's weapon of choice is unique in that the player can give him any weapon. In universe and out of universe, this is because he has experience welding many types of weaponry, however his Specialty Weapon (or whatever it's called) is a sword.

This is mainly a reference to in the original P3 he could use any weapon type except for Guns, which is because they were hand guns- literally. In later renditions, he could only use a sword, though.

Side note: his Sword, Lucifer's Blade, heals damage equal to 30% of dealt damage per hit.

About: Flexibility.

"Why can I use any weapon type? I trained to do so a long time ago, flexibility is key in combat, like how you can use multiple elements."

His basic skill is a shield that casts an AoE water attack on surrounding areas. Additionally, he, much like Joker, can use randomly chosen items to induce reactions. This is a blatant reference to the items in the Persona series that the characters can use to do elemental attacks without SP.

However, unlike Akira, he cannot use matches since they're ruined by water, and he doesn't need to use bottled water to induce water. Minato uses a folding fan to induce swirl.

"I think adding elements to my attacks despite not having an Anemo Vision is quite important, especially if I run into someone with a Hydro immunity and I'm using a Catalyst."

His burst is an all party heal, much like Jean's, except that it negates elemental reactions on the party for 10 seconds. If he's at C5, it adds another 5 seconds and a defense buff.

He's very defense and healing oriented, which makes sense considering P3's final act.

Minato is a five star, naturally. His splash art is him holding a catalyst and spear, a crescent moon of hydro behind him as he looks to be reading his catalyst.

His banner, if this is in the same universe, always takes place 2 before Joker's. If not, it coincides usually with Fatui characters, despite not being a member of the Fatui.

About: The Fatui.

He first shows up during the Liyue Archon Quest, as a researcher from the Akademiya. He seems to have known that Zhongli was Rex Lapis from the first meeting they had, although the how is unknown.

He then appears during the Inazuma Archon Quest, but only in the background. If the player talks to him and asks how he got to Inazuma he'll say: "I walked."

He reappears later in Sumeru, studying in the Akademiya, then in Fontaine, in the prison for an unknown reason (he got lost).

About: The House of the Hearth.

"It was quite cold when I was younger, but I hope Arlecchino made it a warmer place. Recently, I got an invitation from her to return. Something about a reward for one of the well performing children."

He lacks a Story Quest centered around himself.

The Professor Layton Series: I have played all mainline games. I have not played the crossover. I have read a few books and the LBMR manga. Eternal Diva is my favorite movie. I do not dislike any character except Bronev and Bill Hawks. Most of my posts will likely be related to this series. And I will most likely get excited with ideas, for I truly do love this series and it has changed how I view the world and I am deeply thankful for that. I will be sharing thoughts about headcanons as well as canon. The Fire Emblem Series: I have played every game that has released after Awakening, and have watched Path of Radiance. I will admit I'm not caught up with FEH because I'm not interested at the moment. However, my favorite characters are the MCs of the games, and Alear is probably my most favorite one. The Kirby Series: Played every mainline game after the release of Return to Dreamland. Air Ride too. I quit Amazing Mirror and Mass Attack halfway through. Magolor is my favorite character. The Zelda Series: Played most mainline games except for the really old ones. Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass I have not played either. Wind Waker I sort of played but not really. Favorite game is Breath of the Wild and I do not really like Tears of the Kingdom. Favorite character (I'm basic) is Link. Favorite mangas are Four Swords and Twilight Princess, though I only have the Four Sword one. Can't find the TP ones. The Cookie Run Series: I am a Cookie Run Kingdom and Ovenbreak player. I have played up to the Silver Kingdom and now I do not play the story anymore. Favorites are Pure Vanilla Cookie and White Lily Cookie, and yes, I ship them. The Sherlock Holmes (BBC) Series: Watched up until Season 3 and I will not watch Season 4. The Hounds of Baskerville and A Scandal in Belgravia episodes are the ones I remember most. Honestly, probably won't talk about this much, but it's something I've sort of recently been interested in. Undertale and AUs: Glitchtale and Underverse are the AUs I follow(ed?) most. I have played Undertale once and did not go back for other endings. Favorite characters are Chara and Gaster. Genshin: I have played up until Fontaine. Some of my favorite characters are Albedo and Furina. I am also into Pokemon, Mario, kind-of-sort-of getting into Persona. I also read (one of my favorite books is Howl's Moving Castle. Also watched the movie but that was at least 10 years ago.) I will also talk about other games/franchises and other things as well. Feel free to interact. understandable, i was playing genshin a lot less frequently when i started playing hsr and even that made me feel overwhelmed with getting caught back up even though i didn't quit entirely. it's really a shame how hard it is to get back into it If you stop playing for a while... i hate the reliance on fomo so much. i really like how in hsr you can play a lot of events later if you missed them.

The only genshin hc ive ever really thought out is that Childe pronounces “Xainsheng” as “Женченг” (Zhyensheng) like w more emphasis on the Zh instead of a Sh (probably pronounced Ш in this context but do not quote me on that). This is bc everytime he sees the letter X he thinks its similar to Ж. And w the Liyue names Zh and Sh sound similar so nobody’s corrected him yet

I have gotten sick of people being wrong in the notes of this post so I will now elaborate on my (correct) opinions.

Anyway the reason I say that miquella 'mindraped' mohg is because the game quote explicitly tells you (ansbach's dialogue) that prior to cocooning himself in the haligtree, he enchanted mohg. Given that Mohg's behaviour involves calling miquella beloved, and offering himself as a consort to the new god he's trying to awaken, it is reasonable to make the conclusion that there is a romantic/sexual subtext to this enchantment, on the level of weird metaphorical demi-god sex.

Beyond that subtext, miquella's plan from the beginning involved transporting himself to the land of shadow to become a new god. To do this, mohg's cocoon thing and bloody communion was necessary, so the people saying mohg kidnapped miquella without his consent are wrong in that regard.

Anyway miquella's sin probably is Caelid, but not in a 'oops forgot to fix it lol' way. He wanted Radahn to be his promised consort, which required Radahn to die. Either Radahn reneged on their promise and was not cool with dying and marrying his little brother, meaning malenia nuked Caelid on Miquella's orders to Miquella could mindrape another of his brothers, or Radahn wanted a big fight just because, meaning malenia nuked Caelid on Miquella's orders BC Radahn loved war just that much.

Once in the land of shadows, Miquella goes about trying to become god. He abandons St Trina, his better half, who explicitly tells you to kill him because his becoming god will hurt him as well as the rest of the world. He enchants various schmucks who follow him around until his great rune breaks and they all kill each other (thiollier, ansbach, Leda, etc). He defiles Mohg's corpse and uses it to host the spirit of Radahn, who is explicitly his husband and lord.

And all of that is by far the most interesting stuff Miquella has done. I like miquella. He's not my favourite character, but I appreciate a holier-than-thou megalomaniacal mindraping brotherfucker as much as the next FromSoft player. If you're looking for an uwu cinnamon roll failboy whump victim twink then idk go play genshin.

Also it's weird how invested ppl are in the youth and victimhood of conventionally attractive blond child. Giving pedo vibes tbh

people seem desperate to minimise the moral wrongdoing of miquella, and I legitimately cannot tell why. it seems to be a pretty common take that miquella bewitched mohg after being taken from the haligtree, a sort of 'last resort' mindrape, but that's not true. he had to have bewitched mohg before going into the cocoon, because ansbach dueled miquella for mohg's freedom and lost. unless he lost a fight to a fucking cocoon this places the time period of mohg's bewitchment prior to miquella's hibernation.

why get so attached to the moral purity of a character? im a big fan of ranni. especially love how she orchestrated the death of her half(?)-brother which directly caused the outbreak of the Death Blight, killing thousands, and contributed to the Shattering. her ruthlessness and callous selfishness are characteristics i am enamoured by. similarly, i really like mohg's blood cult full of serial killers dedicated to a sinister outer god. also a big fan of miquella's casual disregard for the emotions and free will of others! ranni without her scheming or mohg without his insanity just wouldn't be the same, and miquella as a completely innocent victim is uninteresting.

I've abandoned this blog, but I actually wrote this on google docs and for some reason my google account ALWAYS auto corrects you, you're, yours, and you'd to 'your'. Like no matter what I do, and honestly, I am too lazy to correct it, as I have been battling that autocorrect for YEARS. Like since elementary. Gotta pick them battles lol. Thanks for the tip though! (Another weird crossover, this time Genshin Impact x Yes, Minister, and the dry British wit that comes with it)

Note: these are jokes, please do not take them seriously, the source material was mostly mocking the British civil service, nor do they represent how I feel about the Qixing cast.

Keqing: Lucky Fontaine, I didn't know Ming could speak Fontainish.

Ganyu: He can hardly speak Liyuen.

Keqing: ...

Aether: What's an official reply?

Ganyu: It just says "The Tianquan has asked me to thank you for your letter"; then we say something like "The matter is under consideration", or even, if we feel so inclined, "under active consideration."

Paimon: What's the difference?

Ganyu: Well, 'under consideration' means we've lost the file; 'under active consideration' means we're trying to find it.

Aether and Paimon: ... What?

Ganyu *talking to Ningguang about honors*: In the service, CMG stands for "Call Me God". And KCMG for "Kindly Call Me God".

Ningguang: What does GCMG stand for?

Ganyu *deadpan*: "God Calls Me God".

Keqing: If the authorities of Chenyu vale and Qingce Villagedon't send us the statistics that we ask for, then government figures will be a nonsense.

Ningguang: Why?

Keqing: They will be incomplete.

Ningguang: But government figures are a nonsense anyway.

nov 7 2022 was the day everything changed for me, I saw a tweet talking about a funny comment on a quote retweet on a fanart of scaramouche and childe and I'm a bit curious and a bit nosy tbh so ofc I went looking after the fanart the comment was referring too so I did spend some time on the chiscara tag on twt and then eventually went into their own personal tags and that's exactly when everything changed, I just fell in love with scaramouche's design and backstory even tho I couldn't really understand much bc I just did not know what genshin was even about at the time so I was in love based on vibes and good fanart only 🫡 some days before my friend did start playing it too so this + her incentive + my new phone having a huge storage motivated me to start playing it just to test things out (little did I know I would really like other characters too)

overall genshin is super fun and I really enjoy the story it's developing and the characters, even tho I slowed down a bit when I finished all major (archon) quests I was still able to have fun and be overwhelmed by how much there was to do so yeah if you want to test it out I would say go for it!!!

now into my love for him:: he's just so neat!! his backstory is just soooooo interesting to me and the way he was developed both as a villain and then as a wanderer really hit all the right spots in my brain, yeah I know I kinda have a type and it's tsundere definitely but he's so much more than that, it's about the way he cares so much and yet keeps his distance to protect himself while also trying to get closer to those he cares about and also how he is willing to hurt himself if it means he'll be ahead of the game and get closer to his goals and then regretting it but also not holding back if it means he can correct the mistakes he made and is so willing to accept the hate some ppl would feel towards him bc he doesn't want forgiveness he doesn't want redemption he wants to live life his own way and find out what does that mean bc he doesn't really know himself but he's trying so hard and it makes me sooo emotional and crazy over it tbh I think yeah u could boil it down to the both of us having mommy issues but also he's just great I really like the pixels on the screen that go by scaramouche/wanderer

also he's really fun to play with even if I still prefer characters that use swords
