I've been drawing some of Gai's main students in the au recently! My boi ends up with a proto-genin team :>

All of them are considered hopeless by the Uchiha in one way or another but here are their vibes individually:

Ichigo - (9) the youngest, he’s a talentless nobody who’s only survived this long through luck alone, he is extremely bad at controlling his chakra to the point that he’s not even competent at most jutsu. He’s ok at fighting with kunai but that’s about it. His lack of skill isn’t the only reason he’s been put on Gai’s squad however, he also finds it impossible to connect with others and since the sharingan awakens through loss an orphan with no connections in the world has a low chance of ever even getting a single Tomoe. Personally wise he’s a reckless troublemaker, always up for a challenge and always happy to learn new techniques, he’s just never had a proper teacher as he’s far too much trouble for most to handle.

Yuki - (13) the oldest, he’s a quite skilled ninja, mastering multiple jutsu from different chakra natures, he would have had a bright future in the clan if it wasn’t for the fact he was born with very poor eyesight that has only gotten worse over the years, it’s unlikely he would be able to properly use a regular sharingan even if he ever manifested it so he believes his only hope is to gain a mangekyou sharingan - since its powers are based on the individual he may be able to use them with his limited vision. (Also since he’s already going blind he would not mind the cost of it) Personally wise he’s quite shy and reserved - even at times a little naive. He finds communicating with others confusing and difficult, leading him to usually try copying the vibe of the people he is around.

Awaki - (11) pretty much the brain cell of the group. She was an incredibly talented ninja, she prided herself on her nin and genjutsu abilities (she’d even invented several jutsus). That all changed when, at the age of Nine, she was in a fight and lost one of her hands. She was completely devastated - and to make a bad situation worse - she hadn’t managed to activate her sharingan like she assumed she would have. This situation led the uchiha elders to believe she may have an emotional threshold for activation that is far higher than normal people. Since she wasn’t able to weave the complex hand signs she used to be known for she was encouraged to retire, but she refused to let it stop her, she taught herself how to weave simple jutsu with one hand and now using scrolls is the main way she fights (as it allows her to prepare attacks before hand and simply unseal them when she needs them). Personally wise she’s very serious and strict with herself and others, she also absolutely hates people treating her like she can’t take care of herself. Over all though she is very good at keeping calm and level headed in stressful situations.

i work at an australian magistrate court as a paralegal and kkir (my ninja dads) remind me of the police prosecution vs defence lawyer negotiation throwdowns. kakashi is literally all the weird and eccentric lawyer i've ever met (you need to be weird to be sane) and iruka just acts like all the other very nice but firm prosecutors at court to me

imagine hotshot perpetually late but so so brilliant defence barrister kakashi (mr hatake) negotiating a better outcome for his clients. he's always laid back because he knows he's that good, dresses in the same suit every time, gets away with wearing a facemask in court and literally only ever fixes his terrible posture at the bar table and whilst in court. he tried to ask the magistrate to let him salute the coat of arms (instead of bowing like everyone else) when he first got transferred down to the lowly magistrates' court but got promptly shot down (the compromise was the mask). he was working as a top queen's counsel for the private city law firm then got mysteriously transferred to their regional branch in a 'mentoring role' (a bunch of graduated law students interning actually quit their postgrad studies because he was really harsh and had really arbitrary rules tbh). so my man's in a bad mood ALL THE TIME (literally unprovoked) and has no personal assigned paralegals because no one can stand him. his assigned clerk has the patience of a saint and the tolerance for no bullshit (it's rin) he makes outrageous plea offers with prosecution and it's the best/worst time down at court. he also cross examines like the person at the mic personally wronged him, which isn't great if it is a protected person in a family violence case, or any witness at all, but very eye opening to see

down at court you have the sweetest man ever sergeant umino ('please call me iruka') in the dog box(what we call the prosecution office). he has a law degree (admittedly from a nowhere regional university but he is admitted to practice as a legal practitioner) and way too overqualified for the police force, but he wants to make a difference before going to teach full time or practising law full time. he's nice about everything (printers, legal advice, referrals, talking to anyone) except for paperwork which he is anal about. he wields stamps like weapons and every time an informant is shown to have filled out their paperwork wrong he calls them up directly (how does he even have their direct line?) to chew them out, but super nicely. adjournments, unmentionable dates, requests - don't need to provide reasons, iruka will approve. he not-so-secretly made copies of his police badge so paralegals can print documents off the police printers. he always gets snacks and coffees for court registrars and referral officers. he has bags of lollies for little kids. iruka teaches community service and justice studies for the vocational college nearby. he also has the occasional stint as a university lecturer only for first year law kiddies, and teaches also senior high school legal studies electives. beyond stamps and paperwork, he is the law down to the letter, sometimes to the spirit. if the facts look bad, especially if it is family violence or egregious failure to appear/warrants then he would be a hardass to lawyers. my man however is not opposed to diversion especially if the accused are kids.

so like fanon, kakashi brings outrageous plea offers to the dog box whenever iruka is in -- 'can you withdraw [most serious charge]' 'you can't prove that she was fearing for her life' 'he's never had a criminal record so can't you give him a slap on the wrist and send him a bond?' iruka shuts that shit down every time. he has a case of bleeding heart-itis so occasionally they CAN collaborate to help truly at risk offenders to reorient their lives. kakashi complains that iruka agreeing without a yelling match feels worthless but deep down he doesn't mind when iruka isn't in full hate mode AT him. kakashi thought that iruka would be all snobbish because police prosecutors who hold law degrees tend to act like they're better than everyone else but iruka is overall down-to-earth, hi-i'm-here-to-help. can't push him around though, but he's all about the learning experience so he encourages postgrad law kids and volunteers to have a go at him. for the real thing, defence lawyers groan good-naturedly when they hear he's in the dog box. kakashi seems to be the only who delights in riling him up, but in the rare instance that everyone agrees BUT the magistrate says otherwise and hands down a harsher sentence, he would be handing up paperwork for a contest hearing SO FAST kakashi wouldn't have time to consult with the client. there's a deal between him and kakashi for a stack of signs form 11As can be dealt out when absolutely needed. despite going at each other's throats on the clock, sooo many people have seen them getting lunch together or just talking about their mutual student naruto.

in this universe naruto did not complete high school, went through to vocational studies, took a pathway to uni instead. somehow he, sakura and sasuke end up at the same law firm (naruto is a bit older than the other two but acts precisely like a teenage eshay ALL THE TIME). why does he want to practise criminal law? because it looks cool and he wants to make the bar. his mum is a judge and his dad is a speaker of the senate/cabinet member so... it runs in the family. sasuke is following alongside the traditional asian career choice: doctor, lawyer or engineer. my man hates maths with a passion so lawyer it is. i know it's weird that sakura would be doing a law degree knowing she could be doing a med degree but hear me out: i met and know and am friends with girls who studied double degree law/biomed, finish their law degree, said fuck it I'll be a lawyer what's so bad, otherwise i can come back, and now making big massive bucks. though i imagine sakura will specialise in personal injury cases as well as mental health tribunals, then might go back to university for her med degree. she will be that cousin who lived 6 lives already - was a doctor and a lawyer and your mother would not stop comparing you to her. she needs a bit of instinct training but her academics are spotless. sasuke is ruthless but can't connect with clients. naruto maybe brash and loud but he plays on people's heartstrings like a conductor when presenting a bail app or plea. everything is the way it is so that iruka can move naruto's admission to become a lawyer when he applies for admission at the supreme court

anyways iruka will retire from police work to teach full time, maybe sign on to work for a community legal centre to appear for bail apps for remanded offenders picked up in the cells. he accidentally yelled at kakashi one day to go out and kakashi thought it was too funny to not go along with. now they raise 8 dogs, 3 full grown adults and all of iruka's students together. they fight about everything, but might slip into really formal legalese (passover aggressive fuck-you) when they're being annoying or really pissed off. naruto sometimes has to adjudicate these fights and he can't stop being scared for his LIFE.

(they were fighting about whose turn it is to do the dishes. there were only oral agreements in place but once you're both lawyers you just get used to writing everything down and signing to bring up in an argument later)

You know what would be funny?

So let's say with my Sakura reincarnation au elements with the Harunos able to see their past lives memories/ghosts. Shachi and Haruka have been around since Sakura was born.

Shachi and Haruka coo and gush over her. Sakura's their baby, and they'll make damn sure her life ends better than theirs' did. They know that eventually, when she gets put on a genin team, there's a high chance that if her team mates have past lives, she'll start seeing them too. It happens. The closer a Haruno gets to somebody, the more likely they know each other in a past life.

Then comes the day when team 7 was assigned. While waiting in that empty classroom, Shachi and Haruka notice Sakura fidgeting. She kept looking between her two teammates. Haruka remembers doing the same thing when she first saw the ghosts of Indra and Ashura. But it would be too early for Sakura to start seeing. . .

"OH HELL NO!" Six voices shouted. Four while looking at one another, and two looking at the other four.

Sakura flinched hard, thankful she was sitting behind the boys. While Haruka could be loud at times, Sakura has never heard Shachi raise her voice once. She has never heard such venom in either of their voices before. Except for that one time. . .wait a minute.

Searching back through her past lives' memories, she found the identities of the four ghostly men she could now see. Who all seemed so surprised she could see them. Yeah, Sakura doesn't blame Shachi and Haruka being upset. She would be pretty pissed too if she was suddenly reunited with her husband and best friend, who both also happened to be the reason she's dead.

Shachi and Haruka are outraged. THEY HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN!?

DEATH DO WE PART MOTHERFUCKER! WHY ARE YOU STILL HERE?!?!?! I DON'T GET PEACE IN DEATH EITHER?!?!

Poor Sakura has to pretend she doesn't see the six ghosts all yelling at one another. Has to pretend she doesn't have a front row seat to the ghostly drama. She wishes she could somehow give the sight to Naruto and Sasuke too so they can suffer with her.

Shachi and Haruka are also protective of Sakura. So, if any of the boys' past lives try to interact with her, it's the fastest way to get an angry pink lady on their case.

What would be even funnier if Sasuke and Naruto could interact with their past lives but only them. So they're seeing half the show. Sasuke only sees Indra and Madara cowering, muttering about angry wives. Meanwhile, Naruto only sees Ashura and Hashirama trying to placate someone, a sister?

Then poor Sakura just sees the whole thing of her past lives trying to beat the ass of Sasuke's past lives because they are still angry at them. Natuto's past lives are trying to calm the situation, but Sakura's past lives are still angry at them, too. Then Sasuke's past lives are yelling Naruto's past lives, and they start arguing, which just sets all on fire again.

Now the moment we have been waiting for, honestly it is just a stupid rambling. This is stupid stupid. God knows why. My first topic in my history textbook in secondary school is palaeolithic, Mesolithic, stone age and human development thingy then it was about civilization. How do you talk about the stone age in Naruto!verse?

Konohamaru: Why me? Why am I the person who are writing the textbook this year?

Well because history textbook will need to be updated everytime there is a major events and konohamaru is the only person I know becomes a teacher after 4th world war ninja. Other people also can ah.

However, Team Seven and Master Tazuna was attacked several times by Kirigakure missing nin, The Demon Brothers, Gōzu and Meizu, are two chūnin from Kirigakure that assisted Momochi Zabuza in defecting from the Kirigakure. They subsequently worked with Zabuza in assassinations to earn enough funds for a second attempt at the Mizukage's life. Momochi Zabuza was hired by Gato, a shipping company owner.

Master Tazuna explained that the Land of Waves had been taken over by Gatō, who had effectively bankrupted all the people of the country, and that the only way to revitalise the economy was by building a bridge to the mainland that could render moot Gatō's shipping monopoly.

During the fight of Team 7, it is confirmed that Momochi Zabuza and Hatake Kakashi have an interesting fight. This is due to the presence of a third party, a mercenary member of Akatsuki known first as Tobi.

Tobi, also known as Uchiha Obito or Madara are one of the prominent ninja in the 4th ninja world war. Officially he is record as KIA (Killed in Action) at a mission known as Kannabi Bridge mission in the year of xxxx to cut of Iwagakure's supplies.

However, he is shown to be alive as the real leader of the organization known as the Akatsuki, mainly acting behind the scenes for a majority of the group's tenure. He uses the alias of Tobi and later that of his benefactor, Madara Uchiha, and conceals his true identity with masks. As the leader of Akatsuki, Obito seeks to use the power of the Tailed Beasts in order to cast a genjutsu that will put all of humanity into an idealized dream state forever, having lost faith in the real world following Nohara Rin's death.

Several official records like Genin's Official Record Year XXXX, ANBU''s Official Record (Written and Oral) Year XXXX and Jounin's Official Record Year XXXX Part 1 and Part 2 including interviews of Rokudaime, Sandaime, Nanadaime and villagers; either civilians or ninjas of Konohagakure have noted the appearance of a man with orange mask with one eye visible has been following around Rokudaime during mission.

It was not known the motive of this man initially. However, it have been confirming by inside and outside the village of what this man will do if Rokudaime Hatake Kakashi are about to be mortally wounded. From protecting him to kill the person/group who are intending to harm Rokudaime.

4th Great Ninja War has helped several historians to confirmed their theory regarding this man known as Tobi. The main reasons are his obsession and possessives towards Rokudaime Hatake Kakashi. When Tobi then Madara's identity was revealed, the connection between the two of them cannot be denied.

Some historians have claimed that it was because Hatake Kakashi is the one who possess one of Uchiha Obito's eye and Uchiha Obito has been stalkng Hatake Kakashi in order to make sure the eye cannot be stolen by bloodline thieves.

However, another group of historians also have claimed it is because Uchiha Obito has always been obsessed and possessive towards Hatake Kakashi even before the Kannabi Bridge Mission. This theory is still been disputed till today.

There is also several different theory of Uchiha Obito's motive about his stalking. According to Rokudaime, both of them has "talked about it'"in a dimension known as Kamui. Kamui is a dimension that can be accessed by Rokudaime Hatake Kakashi and Uchiha Obito with the use of Mangekyo Sharingan.

The stalking of Hatake Kakashi by Uchiha Obito is so infamous to the point every one outside of Konohagakure knew about it. For example, Momochi Zabuza during his fight with Jounin Hatake Kakashi during Team 7 first grade C mission in the year of XXXX. Rokudaime did not confirm Uchiha Obito's presence during this mission orally in the debriefing and the creation of this textbook.

According to great bridge builder Tazuna, during the time Hatake Kakashi was unconscious due to what he understood is chakra depletion by the Genin Team 7, 'that man' has been by Hatake Kakashi side siting and later joined by Uzumaki Naruto, Uchiha Sasuke, Haruno Sakura's repeated failed attacks.

The three of them has been attacking Uchiha Obito repeatedly but failed do to Kamui ability. Kamui ability was not known well at that time. Having nothing to do, three of them decided to join him sitting together in order to make sure no untoward incident happened to Hatake Kakashi, their Jounin Sensei.

Obkk au in which Obito has a bit less self control and openly stalks Kakashi when he's out of the village (he's not dumb enough to let people find out he can get inside Konoha anytime he wants) and it's a whole thing.

In canon everybody always recognizes Kakashi everywhere he goes. "The copy nin" "Kakashi of the Sharingan" in this au everyone knows that everywhere Kakashi goes, the weirdo with the mask is never far behind. It's even on the bingo book, "Hatake Kakashi. Sharingan user, Ninjutsu specialist. Signature jutsu: chidori. Last living student of the fourth Hokage. Constantly shadowed by a masked man."

It's driving everybody nuts. Danzo tried to kill Kakashi once, sent his root agents after him and they were slaughtered before they could even make contact. There was a note on one of them with a doodle of the stalker's mask.

The Hokage can't afford to keep one of his best soldiers inside the village, so every time Kakashi departs he does it in disguise, through hidden exits. Yet no matter what they try, the moment Kakashi steps outside the masked man is there, sitting on a branch, staring at him silently.

He never looks away.

Konan and Nagato pity him (and also are EXTREMELY confused).

At first Kakashi used to attack him, but his attacks went through him and he thought he was going nuts until one mission he went out with a team and turned out they could see him too, and they also could not touch him.

The man never spoke, never attacked.

Until Kakashi almost takes a sword to the back, but instead of the pain of steel breaking through armor and flesh, he only feels a warm spray of blood hitting the back of his neck. He turns, startled, and sees his stalker, closer than ever before, holding the freshly ripped off head of the enemy Shinobi that almost took his life.

When the information that the man would interfere if Kakashi's life was truly in danger, the smartest people ran the moment Kakashi showed up. The others lost their lives, usually by Kakashi's hand. The other times the masked man would interfere and easily dispose of those threats.

Kakashi got attacked almost exclusively with genjutsu and paralytics afterwards, always aiming to incapacitate, never to kill. Which was very annoying in Kakashi's opinion, but after a few years he got used to it.

Needless to say, the wave mission went very differently, with Zabuza cursing to high heavens the moment he recognizes who he is facing.

What the hell is he supposed to do now, the man's speciality is silent assassination. Killing is so easy, too easy. He's been doing it since he was five, he's a prodigy at it! He doesn't know how to incapacitate in a way that doesn't end up with someone losing a limb. What if he hits Kakashi too hard and the guy drops dead, huh? What then?

A few meters away, Haku sits on a branch besides the famous masked man, staring down at a group of bemused genin and one old man, an extremely embarrassed jounin, and Zabuza pacing in front of them, ranting and cursing and swinging kurikiribōchō around.

Being Dumb and 12-Years-Old with Team 7 Headcanons

𓆃 Genin are a different breed of insufferable. Because they do such heavy, "adult" work, the times genin get to be kids, they almost double down and have to get a certain amount of thoughtlessness out of their system.

Naruto

𓆃 Naruto is just spending money on useless things. He has no idea how to handle money at all and will pay for things in the lowest coin denomination possible.

𓆃 He's a sucker for "limited-time" snacks, no matter what the flavor, and he's paying for everything with the lowest denomination possible.

𓆃 So you're standing at the cash register with your two "spicy pickle and cream" flavored onigiri while the poor cashier has to count 200 1ryō coins.

𓆃 And even after all of that, Naruto will be short.

𓆃 Naruto will be too loud and laugh too much in public spaces. He can't keep his hands off anything and will get you kicked out of at least one (1) business every few weeks.

𓆃 Will go into a business without buying anything and just sit down and hang out. Has absolutely no social anxiety and will stay completely oblivious to the clear mounting frustration on the employee's face until he's asked to leave.

𓆃 Be prepared to apologize for him a million times or instead you can validate to him that he totally didn't do anything wrong— what was that guy's problem?

𓆃 Then you're going back to his apartment, trying to eat spicy noodles— that were actually far too spicy for either of you but neither of you are admitting that— and getting into scream debates over TV shows until the neighbors are banging on the wall because you're being too loud.

𓆃 He's also showing you the grossest things the internet has to offer and traumatizing you for life.

Sakura

𓆃 You and Sakura think you're such mature little adults, meanwhile, you're getting all anxious about the passive aggressive fights you're getting into with your peers.

𓆃 And in true 12-year-old fashion, no one is beefing with each other to their faces, but you sure as hell are sending each other to talk to other people and then report back to you.

𓆃 You once texted Ino's "ex-boyfriend" just asking, "Is this ___?” He threatened to call the authorities and Sakura and Ino had to calm you down for the rest of the night.

𓆃 You think you're being sneaky using the samples from the beauty store to put make up on, and looking back you're baffled you didn't get an infection.

𓆃 Any underwear outside of standard cotton panties is scandalous and terrifying, and there was definitely a time you all bought a lacy undergarment together and worried for a solid hour how to get them home without your parents knowing.

𓆃 Every so often, the three of you will pair off and have fights with each other. You and Sakura will have a fight that Ino "mediates." You'll "mediate" a fight between Sakura and Ino... and totally take sides. You'll tell Sakura that Ino's wrong, and Ino that Sakura is wrong.

𓆃 The fights don't last long and usually result in some tears shed and ice cream bought.

Sasuke

𓆃 Sasuke touts himself as a sort of wiz on the piano or perhaps on the guitar, when in reality, he just learned to play three songs really well.

𓆃 He won't outwardly flex, but you can tell he likes to be recognized for it. He'd whip the skill out on days he's feeling particularly down.

𓆃 He'll tell you that you're going to "start a band," but you "won't be like other music groups that just want to get famous". But in reality, when you go over to his place, you'll just end up eating junk food, playing games, and won't ever actually touch an instrument.

𓆃 The closest you'll get is karaoke, but if you ever mention it ever again Sasuke won't talk to you for a week.

𓆃 And he's not immune to sending someone back and forth with messages to you because he's not talking to you. But "not in the way girls do," whatever that means.

𓆃 He’ll also accidentally download something shady from a shady website one night after going down some obscure internet rabbit hole, and Sasuke will say he's not worried about it, but he'll call you when you get home hyperventilating about how worried he is about it.

𓆃 You'll try to learn how to ride the latest form of transportation on wheels together, but the moment Sasuke discovers he's not instantly good at it he'll get mad at you for being better than he is even though it's only been 10 minutes and are you really that better than he is?

𓆃 Only posing for pictures with a scowl and hands clasped in front of you. Bonus points if your head is tilted back. These are photos you and Sasuke hide when you're older.

𓆃 Coming up with nicknames for yourselves and subtly trying to encourage other people to start calling you those nicknames.

This is a very niche fic idea that I have no solid intention of actually writing, but... "Naruto" has more than a few self-insert fics and some of them are transmigrations into canon characters. Some of them are about OCs who do not want to be a ninja and are desperately trying to get out of it. There's usually some deliciously frustrating tragedy and horror about the brutal and inescapable military system of Konoha.

So, I thought that it would be kind of interesting to do an OC-insert into Sasuke, probably ultimately more comedic than angsty, as the OC tries to fail out of having to become a ninja, but then has to struggle against the fact that a civilian Sasuke would probably be expected to start a new Uchiha clan ASAP. (They probably have to concede to at least becoming a genin for the benefits of legal adulthood of some kind at 12 years old, even if it means being a part of the damn military.)

But even if the OC would personally love to be a parent someday, they cannot condone participating in what's essentially a breeding program for a new generation of Sharingan-wielding super-soldiers. Children who are probably going to be chewed up and spat out by Konoha someday too.

I think it would be neat to have a character treat the Sharingan like a genetic disorder that they don't want a child to suffer. I think it would have been interesting if canon Sasuke had also wrestled with the idea of letting the Sharingan die out. Fuck it, he'll adopt if he wants to be a dad someday. I also think it would be funny to have an OC-insert whose goal is to get a secret vasectomy (body autonomy!) without the leadership of Konoha finding out.

Sasuke, as soon as Sakura becomes a medical nin: "I need you to do me a huge secret favor and NOT be weird about it."

Sakura, also still currently a teenager: "You're asking me to CASTRATE YOU, AT HOME, IN SECRET, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO NOT BE WEIRD ABOUT THIS?!"

(And there's the whole fucking issue of the "Naruto" universe having cloning, so, no, a vasectomy isn't a solid guarantee of getting out of this. But it might buy Sasuke a few years to figure out how to avoid the mad science route too if anyone tries to force marriage on him at any point.)

Even throwing aside the issue of children, even in an AU where the OC-Insert is cool with having bio children, I think it would be really funny to have a Transmigrator Sasuke announcing outright in the first Team 7 meeting that his dream is to retire super early and become a shinobi tradwife to a super strong ninja.

Kakashi: "...What?"

Sasuke, possibly talking out of his ass to troll his team and because he's already spitefully exhausted: "I said what I said. I'm the only Uchiha left to pass on my clan's techniques, so my dream is to be a stay-at-home ninja, supported by a super strong spouse who can protect my family."

I think this would break Naruto and Sakura's brains. ("Marry Hokage Naruto" is not the worst plan that a transmigrator could come up with, probably.) I think that this would be a super funny start to a Team 7 OT3 in which Naruto and Sakura become rivals for the position of Sasuke's shinobi sugar daddy/mommy. (Naruto doesn't consciously realize that he's competing for Sasuke's hand in marriage at first, but he gets it after a few years or so.)

Kakashi is... So Tired. Obito, are you seeing this shit??? What the fuck.

I know some OC-insert / SI-insert into Sasuke fics exist, I just think the funniest plot direction for a transmigrator in this situation would be to completely bail on both the "take revenge on Itachi" and "rebuild the Uchiha clan" dreams in the least macho ways available.

Also, what WOULD Itachi think of Sasuke abruptly deciding to give up on revenge and to become a house husband instead?

Like a good mate and Alpha, Kakashi is extremely attentive to your needs and makes sure that he is always on top of providing for you. A vase of fresh wildflowers waiting for you on the kitchen table; a new downy soft blanket he found while away on a mission added to one of your favorite cozy spaces; the next book in the series you're reading when he notices you're close to finishing your current one; a pretty speckled river stone he found in the Land of Waves; the hair clip your eyes lingered on a moment too long while at the market. Kakashi's thoughtfulness knows no bounds.

You're not used to being doted on so heavily, and you remind him frequently that while you love and appreciate his gifts, he doesn't need to spoil you. He's firm in his response that he knows he doesn't need to, he wants to, and it brings him great satisfaction to do so.

♡ Kakashi can't bring himself to call you his girlfriend. It feels so juvenile, and you're so much more than that. You're his mate, his perfect match. He doesn't want to embarrass you though, so he does his best to call you his partner instead.

One night, while the two of you are out drinking with your friends, Kakashi slips up and refers to you as his mate. He's thankful at first that no one seems to notice, but in the following days when everyone— including yourself — starts referring to you as his mate it's clear that his slipup didn’t go as unnoticed as he thought. He's absolutely over the moon about it, too!

♡ Kakashi is absolutely obsessed and fixated on your throat. Whether it's his nose buried against your pulse point, lips, teeth and tongue trailing across your delicate skin, a discreet hand on the back of your neck or a firm hold around your throat Kakashi is there. In part because of it being a major scent point, but more importantly because it shows your trust and submission.

♡ Scenting you. Just because you can't smell him on you doesn't mean that others can't. Most ninjas have a keenly trained sense of smell, and those from certain clans and bloodlines especially can pick up on scents and their meanings. Kakashi makes sure they know who you belong to and who they'll be dealing with if they so much as think about bringing harm to you.

You often wake to him nuzzling into your neck or wrists, lathing his tongue across your sensitive skin, sending a delighted shiver down your spine. When it comes to sex he never fails to scoop up his come as it drips out of your poor little swollen pussy and spread it across your pretty skin, embedding his most intimate scent into your flesh.

Sakura fic recs: civilian discrimination/clan politics

Another personal favorite type of read when it comes to Sakura Haruno fanfiction! I think it's reasonable to assume considering the treatment of the branch families in the Hyuga clan that if the series was a little darker/serious, then Sakura, TenTen, and Lee would have definitely been looked down upon for not being from a clan. They don't have the same connections and support that the clan kids do and so I love when fics bring this up and take it further.

Where the hierarchy of the clans and clanless is more prominent than ever, Sakura comes to the stark realization of her true purpose on team 7. A Drop of Poison is probably the first fic that comes to mind when I think of discrimination and clan politics in Konoha and it's for a good reason. Constant hurdles are thrown Sakura's way because of her lineage and the actions she chooses to take bring ramifications which she'll have to face head first. Also, poison-user! Sakura is such a great idea (I wish this was canon)!

Sakura's first team is made up of the "expendables." Placed with a fresh and inexperienced jonin as their sensei, it results in the quick demise of the team. Now slotted into team 7, Sakura has to face the harsh remarks regarding her first major failure as a shinobi and persevere to prove her worth to the village.

Konoha and Iwa sign a truce and agree to an Exchange Program between recently promoted genin to "bolster village relations." Fortunately, if anything were to go wrong, Haruno Sakura was just average enough to risk losing.

From what I remember, Expedient is not very heavy on this dynamic, however, it is a major contributor as to why Sakura was the one sent on the exchange. She was deemed as so average, so unremarkable, that the village could risk her. Even so, Sakura does face a lot of criticism from Iwa shinobi and civilians, marking her as an outsider. I don't really want to spoil anything, but just know that the sensitivity of her position makes it difficult for her both in Konoha and Iwa. This one is an all time favorite of mine and I didn't have high expectations going into it, but this fic is truly great. Deidara is such a fun character and I really enjoyed Sakura's growth.

Sakura acts as a spy for Tsunade when Danzo takes an interest in her. While earning her place in ANBU Root, she discovers her own path to greatness. She learns grim secrets about how her village operates, makes terrible enemies, and begins to appreciate the extent of her fractured personality.

It's Sakura's more expendable status that results in her being used to infiltrate ROOT. I found this fic kinda a hard read since it's such an ominous story. Anyway, Kakashi, her former sensei, in now her contact and only confident on the matter, but how does this change their relationship? I haven't read far enough for there to be any romance, so no comment, but I imagine it's built off of Sakura's isolation. Great story though.

Sakura got up and didn’t bother brushing the dirt from her dress. She had a feeling she was about to get even dirtier. She looked at the memorial stone one last time, memorizing the characters without even realizing she was doing it. It would serve from that moment on as a reminder of her determination. She wouldn’t let Naruto and Sasuke join the names carved on that stone. That was her nindo.

Sakura faces discrimination from the council as they are not pleased that she, a civilian born, is to be the one to carry on Tsunade's legacy. I also really appreciate how Sakura's parents were handled in Daughter of Fire as it felt very logical rather than some of the other fics I have read. Her growth throughout this story is great and realistic all while pointing out aspects from the original series which were flawed and dare I say misogynistic.

Terror feeds the Soul - Pleasedial123 || ao3 || gen || not rated || canon AU || one-shot complete

Sakura is not an idiot. She was praised for her intelligence, reached Top Kunoichi at the Academy for her brains. So it doesn't take her long after being placed on the powder keg that is Team Seven to realize she is going to die. Kakashi, career shinobi since age-six, has no idea what the hell is going on with his little pink-haired student or why there is such fear in her eyes. So he gives her head-pats. That's what you do for scared puppies isn't it?

My poor girl Sakura was STRESSING in Terror Feeds the Soul, but it's for good reason. She has made the stark realization that with no clan ties and no apparent importance to the village, she would be that last on team 7 to be saved. Anyway, there is some pretty cute Kakashi and Sakura bonding here (platonic) that I love.

No one seemed to find it odd when little Haruno Sakura threw herself smack dab in front of a Chidori and Rasengan. Not even Kakashi stopped to wonder.(He really should have.)

The story of how Sakura came to be the sixth hokage despite all of the challenges thrown her way. Many of the characters are super OOC, but in The Sixth Shadow she faces the ultimate discrimination based off her being civilian born. Through trials of attempted sabotage, classism, and other conflicts Sakura's drive is unwavering. Such an interesting take on how the events of the series could have unfolded and the political aspects are super interesting. However, be warned that Kakashi is an absolute HATER (in the beginning), but he gets better! Also, the fic is super long....

Got Nothing to Prove (but I'ma show you how I do) - GuardianMars || ao3 || gen || T || mission gone wrong || incomplete

Civilians and orphans are always used as cannon fodder. Sakura’s not sure where she first came by this phrase. Whether she heard it or read it, she can’t quite remember, but it stuck in her head and it stays in the back of her mind whenever Team 7 takes a mission. When Sakura and Tenten get placed on a temporary team looking into a series of kidnappings of local village girls, Sakura is naturally worried. She doesn't want to be cannon fodder. When the mission goes to pot, Sakura and Tenten find themselves far away from home and with only each other to rely on. As it turns out being cannon fodder is the least of their worries.

Sakura and TenTen are chosen specifically for a mission due to their lack of clan affiliation. Things end up taking longer than anticipated and Kakashi and Gai, being the only voices for the girls, decide that it's time to step in. This fic is super interesting because it's actually kind of a mystery. One where we don't truly know what happened on the mission but through multiple different perspectives we slowly find out. Unfortunately, this is incomplete though.

A ten-year-old Haruno Sakura is put in the worst situation of her young life - being forced into working as a spy for an enemy village. As she navigates the mores of her new world, Sakura begins to realize that she is changing as a person and that she may not recognize who it is she is becoming.A story about personal responsibility, about the duties of a ninja to their village, and about the true meaning of loyalty.(Pre-Skip, Unapologetically Sakura-centric, 13 years in the writing)

Ok, a little note here is that this fic is actually being rewritten. I read the old version and loved it (the one I linked), but there is a new one coming out on ao3 although I think it might incomplete. Nonetheless, I HIGHLY recommend this one as I think it's great and pleasantly dark!

Obito-Sensei - Ser Serendipity || ffn || gen || M || Obito lives AU || ongoing

During the fateful mission to the Kannabi Bridge, Obito is too slow, and Kakashi ends up paying the price with his life. Years later, Elite Jonin Mangekyou no Obito is placed in charge of a very familiar genin team, determined to keep them safe in a world at peace. Or: Obito surviving wrecks everything, in twenty steps or less.

I don't want to say too much to avoid spoiling anything, but there is definitely a gap between Sakura and her other teammates at the beginning. I really love the worldbuilding and Obito is honestly such a good sensei (even though I had to warm up to the idea). Some interesting politics as well!

While attending the Academy, Sakura's field experience assignment with the Konohagakure Intelligence Division ends up being more valuable than she'd ever guess.

Sakura lands herself working in Torture & Intelligence??? From the very beginning Sakura has been pegged as a "paper ninja" where she is constantly praised for her intelligence, so Satori (Between the Lines) is academy Sakura putting these skills to use. Super good read and includes characters we don't normally get to see in fics!

When Sakura was three, her father told her he was a criminal. When she was seven, the last thing she saw of him was the sword on his back. When she was eight, she had a friend named Kiba. When they were twelve, they met Shino.And when they were genin, they began to fight for the truth because they could no longer fight for the sake of Konoha.

Perhaps one of the more interesting AUs out there as Sakura is actually the daughter of Kisame! Definitely shines a different light on the village and is such a great story (even has a sequel).

Pretty odd AU, but I guess this is kinda just Orochimaru in Boruto. Anyway, essentially, he's a good guy and loyal to village and Sasuke's a complete dick. He decides to take in another apprentice, which ends up being Sakura. A lot of discrimination towards Sakura in here due to her background and some village politics.

Seven years after the Kyuubi attack, the Sandaime Hokage’s sudden assassination threw Konoha into chaos, and at the end of the night, two factions arose in its shinobi forces: those who stayed and those who ran. Of those who ran, many were shinobi that the new administration denounced as traitors, deserters, and murderers. Two years later, a ragged group of children who vanished the night of the Sandaime's assassination, who would have been raised in relative peace but instead grew up running, were recruited to fight a war for the homes they barely remembered. In which Kakashi is forced to the forefront of yet another war, Itachi is given to maudlin internal monologues, Shisui alternates between coping and dissociating, and Zabuza wonders why he couldn’t have left the honor to the fucking samurai.

Fair warning, not a Sakura-centric, but she is a main character! Really well written and super interesting story.

Hokage By Necessity - Evil Is A Relative Term || ffn || T || canon divergence || incomplete

Hokage-it was Naruto's dream, just as Sasuke was his promise. And for a short, glorious time, he had them both. But when tragedy strikes, it is Sakura who must continue to bear the reality of the dream: endless paperwork, bickering Kage, and political factions.

Wow wow wow, so good! Shows the less-than-glamorous reality of what it truly means to be Hokage. Super interesting read that sheds light on the fact that the strongest person isn't always the best leader. Definitely has a heavy focus on politics (and the author clearly thought about said politics).

"And then, ANBU at thirteen" he admitted, quietly. He wasn't supposed to mention his time on ANBU, but Kakashi had been a rather infamous ANBU, with a signature jutsu. It had been a badly kept secret. He also had been at his worst back then, especially after Minato-sensei and Kushina had died.

He stood by, watching Iruka open the door, and wondered if having him as a sensei would have changed his time at the academy. These days, early graduations were very rare, so he would probably have had to endure and become a genin at twelve. "...
