i still think about vinny in genloss…

like everyone talks about how tragic niki’s death was, which is fair, but at least niki had more than five minutes of screen time. hell, vinny couldn’t even finish his speech on the carousel before he was cut off, and if i recall correctly, he was the only one that didn’t get to say his peace.

his lines were literally just his speech and then confidently saying he could make it in the laser room and… that was it. he was never mentioned again and the protagonists just moved on. even in death all he got was a throw away gag and an expression of disgust with an apology from The Hero. after that both Showfall and the audience let him fall into obscurity.

i still wonder if he volunteered because he truly thought he could’ve beaten it, or if he knew that the chances were not in favor of all three of them walking out alive and decided he would be the canon fodder that went first—that died first. but then again i suppose it doesn’t matter as he didn’t even have enough lines to establish a character motivation, much less why he volunteered himself to go first

(and also, what did his death look like uncensored? the laser room always stuck out to me as being odd; it definitely fits with the goofiness of The Puzzler’s other traps, but SFM always had something far more sinister waiting just beyond the veil… so what actually happened? were they just hiding how much carnage an anvil falling from that high would cause or was his death entirely different?)

i cant say i have watched his content [ironic, given the monologue that is this post, i know] but i’m interested to know what his audience thought of his appearance, the nuances i may have missed from not knowing him as a creator or a character before he died

Ranboo's "Generation Loss - Talking All About It" stream vod

-Ranboo, first stream after the show ended, explained some of the inspiration for the production, played some recordings of Charlie's towel performance, and showed some concept art and design photos of some of the props.

Vinny's "My Generation Loss Experience + Abandoned Mall Exploration" stream vod

-Vinny Vinesauce explained his part on the second episode of the show, showed footage he took from inside the mall while exploring the sets and abandoned areas, and showed behind-the-scenes footage of how the stunts for his death scene were made.

RGB + Carousel crew all make me soo fucking sad sometimes. What do you mean a 19 year old was killed in front of thousands before they even got to live as an adult. What do you mean a man made an effort to escape TWICE just to get a hat sewn into his scalp and die. What do you MEANNN he didnt have a hat/glasses, likely meaning he had to witness so much on his own while everyone around him acted like it was fine. What do you fucking mean she was shot to death just shortly after she was chosen to “live”. What do you mean he thought he was so close to escaping, to freedom, just to be killed by security.

I need them all to escape despite the odds and feel the sun on their skin and rain on their face I need them to roll in the snow and make sandcastles and learn to cook and bake and make a huge mess about it I need them to have a goodnights sleep I need them to finally get the mobility aids (because barely any of them are making it out able bodied) they need to live comfortably despite it all. They’re all probably codependent on each other but at least they’re alive

So, some notes from streamers that were featured in episode 2 of generation loss (if anyone is interested):

-Ranboo mentioned they'll be doing 3 different streams to go over behind the scenes footage and some extra stuff for each of the 3 episodes! Those streams should occur sometime in the next two weeks, and they plan to bring on some people (including from episode 2) who were on the show to talk about it.

-Vinny Vinesauce said he recorded his own behind the scenes footage during Episode 2, and he also was able to explore the abandoned mall and got footage of that. He intends to release a vlog once Ranboo has posted their behind the scenes footage, so it won't spoil anything.

-Rae mentioned that the group conducted rehearsals for Episode 2 for several hours once everyone had arrived before the show started. She mentioned how odd it was to have a blend of scenes that were both scripted and improv.

-Ethan gave a short little shoutout to Generation Loss, and encouraged everyone to go watch!
