•Did i mention that he laughs every 5 seconds of cuddling? Yeah, he would be laughing for an hour straight with his arms wrapped around you.

•He isn't the top fan of cuddles, but whenever you initiate it or maybe if he's feeling a bit under the weather he would make it as an exception.

•Said no the first time you had asked him if you two could cuddle. After you convinced him, he actually enjoyed most of it and would never admit that he did.

•Whenever you ask him he'd say, "Again with that stupid thing? Okay let's go." Would drag you to the bed and never let you go untill he's asleep or you need to go to the bathroom.

•His skin is fairly rough but also soft, his muscles could headlock you anytime and you're afraid of it happening. He squeezes you so tight and he thinks that he's doing it softly and that you were enjoying it, but reality is you cant even breathe with his arms around you.

•Falls asleep as soon as you land on the bed and snores so loud it deafens you.

•She 100% initiated to hug and cuddle with you! Super sweet, super soft, super smooth, and smells amazing. You enjoy being in her arms everytime you get the chance, so you savor every second.

•Usually happens everytime she's irritated and wants to get off some steam and happens every night you two will be going to sleep.

•He prepares the bed wayyy before he asks you, designs it with rose petals, scented candles, roses on the bed, the room smells like your favorite scent, and of course his cooking!!

•Once you two cuddle, he will never let go. His hug is suprisingly loose, to make you comfortable. He would offer you everything you need, foods, blankets, more pillows, you name it!

•He also smells like rose petals and little bit of deo (for hygiene ofc) and that makes it even more enjoyable in his arms!

•Had to go on a full 1 hour explanation of what cuddling is and how it works to him. He listens so intense and he almost looks like a child missing the point of a lesson😭. He also bombards you with soooo much questions.

•But after all, he agrees to cuddle with you and you both enjoy the time being with each other. Also he doesn't know how to cuddle so you take in as the big spoon!

•Im sorry to say this but, i personally think he smells a bit like guava. It's not in a rude way but personally because they're sometimes so busy that they cant even take a bath, so cuddles with him are only happening after he takes a bath.

• "Hehe, asking me to cuddle isn't gonna make me flattered!"

•THE SOFTEST OF EVERYONE, i mean he's a furball right? He feels like a cuddly bear and he doesn't like that. He thinks that it offends him whenever he gets called anything else other than a reindeer.

•Would only accept cuddles if you'd help him with his rumble balls making, Which you always do so it isn't that big of a problem. The only thing is that the ingredients are most definitely the hardest part.

•He smells like a newly bathed puppy in strawberry scented shampoo. He also falls asleep very fast in your arms and would deny that he enjoyed his time with you, he thinks you're very sweet and kind so he reluctantly agree (he'd refuse to everyone)!

❝NICO ROBIN❞

•You would be the first to initiate and she would accept without hesitation, so many reasons why. She thinks that you're the sweetest of every strawhat (besides chopper) and that you seem very delicate.

•Her hair smells like fresh flower scented shampoo and she is very soft, her arms gives you so much comfort and of course she uses her devil fruit whenever you two cuddle.

•Her devil fruit helps her big spoon you and gives you extra warmth in her arms that youll never forget, ever. She's also sometimes the one who initiates the cuddling session but mostly you.

•Cuddles happens regularly before sleep and waking up, with her beside you and arms on you, you take long before getting off the bed with her wince you wanna stay with her in that position forever. We love Robin!!

Of course!! Although, you mean all 50 questions or just specific ones? Because while it may take some time, I could answer for him all 50 because I love him so much <3333 and I'm insane enough to do it.

Do you project onto this character?

Yeah and I think at this point everyone knows it!! Some of my headcanons for Ro are inspired by traits of mine, I guess? Also me making him AFAB trans genderqueer in modern times is kinda inspired by me, haha(although the way my gender works is different from my HCs for her). Some stuff that happen to him in my stories are also kind of inspired by myself, in a way? I mean, I kinda have an image in my head of how her childhood went, and in some ways I've made it similar to mine (although obviously it's pretty different too)

2. Did you always like this character?

Well, not exactly? When I first discovered Hetalia, I did like Ro, but I focused on other characters a lot more. But I guess I always did.

3. What first drew you to this character?

Well... the fact that he's the personification of my country, I suppose? I also like his design a lot, and his personality.

4. Did you initially dislike/hate this character?

Not really. I always liked him.

5. If this character were a woman, would you honestly still like them? Or in reverse, what if they were a man?

Well, of course!!! I think his character can work really well as a guy or a girl or whatever really(I love him so much I'm giving him all the genders lol). Sometimes I do change his gender/genderbend him depending on the story I wanna write.

6. Do you have any nicknames or pet names you use for this character?

Well, I do call him Ro. Sometimes I call him "lynxie" in my head, cause of the lynx being her national. I also sometimes call him "this fucker".

Kinda?? I see him as being 24-26 physically in modern times, and almost 2000 years old in reality (i've got a post about my HCs for his age over the years linked in my pinned). I don't like it when people make him be born around the time Wallachia got founded, because I've already mentioned I see him as being far older.

8. Does the character’s looks/design matter to you?

In a way? While I do change the colour of Ro's hair (and his hair length sometimes as well), and the colour of her eyes, I do like his canon design. So I guess it matters?

Y'know what. He does kinda remind me of one of my friends, which I have just realised now. It doens't really affect the way I see him, thought.

Hmm...I had just gotten back in the fandom, and got really into Romania's history. And the rest is well...history lol

Although I rarely read AU stories where he is a vampire, because I've read enough vampire stuff with Ro for a lifetime(not saying people can't write stuff like that, just that it's not my favourite thing ppl do with Ro but I think if it's written well I'll give it a chance).

Well, yeah. I ship him with like a million characters because I find Romania's relations with other countries interesting to explore. Characters I ship him with the most: Serbia(my OC), Bulgaria, Hungary, Prussia, Greece (kind of), England (kind of).

Well, it depends. But I suppose I do? If I feel like someone misunderstands him, I may get a little defensive and want to say something, but I end up keeping it to myself because there is no point in defending a character to someone who doesn't get him anyway.

Yes <333 he's my lovable idiot who represses his emotions so much and has the worst abandonment and trust issues known to mankind

Honestly, I am not sure. I'd like to make him something that he'd like. Maybe cabbage rolls. I think she'd like those. Or something with garlic, as I HC that he really likes garlic.

His flaws are one of the reasons I love him, actually. But sometimes I think I do think of him through rose-coloured glasses, haha.

Yeah. Inspires me to keep going even if life is shitty at the moment, for one day I'll be free.

A few times.

Honestly, I don't really make jokes like that, well not for Ro. But y'know what, I'd probably kill for him.

Yeah...mostly when I think of ships involving him.

Yes!!! It's probably becausr I see myself a lot in him, but yes. When he feels things, I often feel it too to an extent. Probably why writing him is so therapeutic for me.

41. Do you prefer to interact with this character directly via self-insert/reader type content? Or do you enjoy seeing them mostly with other characters in the story and/or your OCs?

When I was younger, I used to enjoy self insert/reader stuff, and to an extent I still do, but it was kind of ruined for me (and I've tried to make self-insert OCs in the past but I always end up changing them so much they become their own full fledged characters pretty different from me besides some traits that remain). I do enjoy seeing him interact with other characters and my OCs tho.

42. If you could, would you write this character a song or poem?

Yeah. I plan to one day.

Windy weather. Snowing. Rain.

Well, it honestly kind of depends on the interpretations. Whenever I see bad interpretations of him, I mostly get annoyed. If I were to see an interpretation of him that I felt was not only bad, but offensive, I would get upset then but I thankfully haven't seen something like that yet.

Yeah a lot!!!!

I like his haircut, his fangs, his canon outfit, honestly most things about him!!!!

49. What’s your favorite personality trait in this character?

This isn't a trait represented in canon, and moreso a headcanon of mine, but I think it's maybe that despite it all the shit he went through, she never truly lost his rebellious attitude, and his hope for independence and freedom. Even if it made his life harder at times, he still tried to keep true to himself in a way, even if to survive she had to adapt and change a lot. He might have matured, but he's still a rebel at heart.

BTW when I designed BEN's lamb fursona, I picked a specific sheep breed, not just Generic White Sheep, he's a Dorset Horn sheep, just a very young ram.

They're a dual purpose breed for wool and meat, and both the rams and ewes have horns, with the ewes having a crescent moon shaped horn. And they're also unique among English breeds with their ability to lamb at any time of year, as opposed to being limited to breeding in the fall and lamb in the early spring. They're not very popular as a milk breed, BUT usually have no trouble producing enough milk for their lambs, and are EXCELLENT mothers. They're very calm and docile, and a "heavy" breed (meaning not very flighty compared to other sheep breeds). The only exception is that rams are unpredictable, and should be approached with caution, but that's true of ALL sheep.

Seemed very fitting for BEN, a lamb from a breed so perfect for farmers that it's recommended as a homesteading beginner friendly breed, known as an excellent mother (fits with my hc that BEN's always wanted to be a mother, and that helped BEN figure out her weird gender stuff), can be horny pretty much whenever, and rams being unpredictable leads nicely into the "wolf in sheep's clothing" twist I want for them >:3

Reasons I burnt out largely to do with the way tumblrs changed but also, self discovery. For a while Jack was my defensive bundle of ‘let out emotions of ugh and hrgh about the world, that need to destroy and disconnect’.

But now I’m becoming a more. Thoughtful bout my experiences person. Perhaps I am simply no longer a young-young adult. (More reasons to play adult jack).

But thinkin bout it I did go back, how I’d go about it.

No fancy blog decor anymore, I’d make a caard link to about/rules or somethin. Barely anyone goes to the blog page proper, and the effort felt like something that alienated people who couldn’t make the effort. I paid for my last blog set up. Paid. For a graphic designed background and basic coding. Stuff I coulda learned to do myself if I had the time and energy. But why should I feel I have to? It’s like makeup. Not for everyone. But nice and showy as a concept (Jack likes it. Jack doesn’t want his blog to be plain. But fuck em he’s just a character).

Goin back to him would be very. ‘Alright. Jack definitely audhd like me (and it’s played for laughs in the show. Some folks don’t like representational HCs bout characters who are treated poorly (usually cause they don’t wanna think of the other characters as BIGOTS but sometimes people r just bullies and don’t know why they’re bullying someone, they just Do It, especially teens). Jack definitely gender queer (also mocked in the show and makes him very jaded toward the heroes. Who, let’s not be surprised, were already sexist, and I won’t change that, cause it’s a fuckin Cowboy, a sheltered monk and a wannabe playboy. Ofc they’re fucking sexist). They can grow up but Jack will hold onto grudges. Kimiko the only Real One to him, and she still calls him a mamas boy (she’s not wrong).

The audhd lense is so much stronger than adhd alone to rationalize some of his behaviors. The startled screaming (I get scared of LEAVES FALLING IN MY PERIPHERAL VISION); the millions of hobbies but low maintenance for all but a couple of his special interests (machines, weapons, costumery); rigid moral values (not Justice, but EVIL, but he sees his evil as righteous [as in, he’s in the right to act out however he pleases], so that’s another part of the moral soup he feeds himself); HE STIMMY MY STIMMY BOY; Bad at basic socializing (intense, bad w personal space, doesn’t listen well, easily manipulated by strangers) but Talkative, Informative and Capable of Scripting (literal and metaphorical);

Ofc this means jack has a huge soup of ‘shit that’s ‘wrong’ with me’ now and wondering how much I wanna curb his internalized ableism as not to rp sadness always. Like he certainly fights himself on the mental health front, thinking he either doesn’t have problems or it’s OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE PROBLEMS. He’s very good at fixing up flexible workarounds for his issues as have his parents always been there to push him (past his limits or, rarely, in a way familiar to themselves (genetic audhd), that actually helps). So he doesn’t think he ‘struggles’ and shockingly, doesn’t moralize his failings (he turns them into physical health issues or just says he IS DOING IT ON PUROSE). Being Tired; Being Bored; Being Burnout. It’s all better excuses than ‘ah I have a developmental disability’.

Decidin to make him less self conscious of the albinism. Yes his parents encouraged him to dye his hair and wear contacts. But he’s the one who eventually took that to wearing Red contacts and dying his hair red too (it was already orangey at the roots by the time he was an adolescent. The white-white color was like, towhead childhood (it’s a bit of a bad beauty standard issue to assume all people with albinism are just this sheer flat white. Lots of freckly, red cheeks, reddish or brownish hair). Though the monkey fur still comes out white. Cause an albino monkey is still white).

Ofc his adult verse is my favorite so when he IS kicked out of his parents house, he DOES begin to struggle. Much like me. And I guess it was hard to write bout that MID STRUGGLES. Doubt Jack is gonna get therapy any time soon, but he does have a lot of ‘breakthroughs’ with himself. Bout how he’d prefer to do his crime. How he’d HAVE TO, without his parents dime. (Not counting all the wealth he saved up in his youth waitin for this day,,,). Gotta really budget now. His parents were already weaning him off the family bank card season 3ish.

Wanna write a couple sentences per character in the series bout how he feels bout them. But knowin me I cannot keep things short lmao.

What’s it like having Ran as your partner? Gender-neutral HCs

Ran doesn’t fall so easily but when he does, you’ll have yourself a doting, caring partner who loves to pamper you.

➼ Ran would want you to look your best, and not only so you’d look good standing next to him! (lol) Because he loves you, he’d want you to feel confident in the way you look. He might take you to his regular salon, offer style advice, or even introduce you to a skincare or haircare routine if you don’t already have one. Before you go out into the streets together, he’d tell you how good you look and remind you to keep your chin up. After all, someone like you, who managed to steal his heart, should stand proud. 

➼ I think he’ll be the type to wipe the corner of your mouth if you missed a stain on it, fix your hair if a strand is out of place, smooth down your clothes, fix your collar or tie if it’s askew, etc. (He definitely used to do this to Rindou) 

➼ He thinks about you a lot so that when he finds an outfit from a magazine that would look great on you, or smells a perfume that screams “you” to him, he’d want to show you! All he needs is the slightest sign of approval–-maybe your face brightening up? Perhaps a small smile? Maybe you looked at it for more than ten seconds? Before you know it, he’s already bought it for you.

➼ Shopping with Ran, huh? This gives you the privilege of seeing him try on clothes! He’ll ask you what you think, or to pick out stuff you’d like to see him wearing. Of course, he’d want to buy clothes for you too. If you ever had the experience of your mom making you come back to the fitting room again and again because she found some great clothes for you, here it is again! Except it’s not your mom anymore but your partner. 

➼ If you’re not well-off, Ran would spoil you to death. He’d want you to experience all the luxuries that he and his brother do. You get to have your dates at fancy fine-dining restaurants. You receive only the most expensive chocolates. Your wardrobe is slowly filling up with designer clothing. He would give you the world as long as you stay with him. 

➼ Relaxing with Ran is always a treat. Imagine being pampered by Ran in his room: he is softly humming as he covers your face in an expensive mask. Him brushing or massaging oils into your hair. His touches are so gentle, and it makes you sleepy. All while doing these, a perfectly serene smile is on his face. (He rarely ever gets to do this on Rindou, so he is happy to have you.)

➼ There are days when you both just want to chill on their balcony wearing bathrobes, sipping wine (or any drink of your choice) out of fancy glasses. Your usual topics of conversation are celebrities, fashion, art, and maybe even philosophy! Ran is interested in hearing your opinions on different topics as well as sharing his own. If anyone tries to disturb your time together, they will face Ran’s wrath. His time with you is precious!

➼ Ran would be the #1 reason you’re late to anything because his bed is just so comfy, he’s so comfy, and honestly, how could you leave that pretty sleeping princess behind? If he wakes up to you leaving the bed, he will try to pull you back in. He’ll say “5 more minutes” while wrapping himself tighter around you.

➼ As his partner, you must laugh at his dad jokes. He loves puns, so come up with some of your own, won't you? Aside from dad jokes, his humor can be outdated. He’s the type of person who’d use a 2016 meme in 2020. Sometimes, you or Rindou need to explain certain memes or trends to him. It’s cute. He’s cute.

➼ To Rindou, you are a godsend. With you around, his brother is less of a killjoy (his words). He can party just a bit longer and be as loud with his friends as he wants. If he’s lucky, you manage to get his brother out of the house for maybe a night or two. It’s also fun for him to see his brother go so soft with you. 

➼ Ran is anxious whenever you hang out with people he doesn't know. He would want to meet your friends, and if any of them feel off to him, he would tell you. (His intuition is pretty good, after all). He won't ask you to stop hanging out with them but will remind you to be cautious. It's not out of possessiveness but worry about your safety. Your boyfriend, after all, rules Roppongi. People are always out to exploit his weaknesses.

➼ If you somehow piss him off, you have to wait for him to come to you. If for example, you’re spending the night at their residence, you have to stay on the couch before he allows you back in his room. In the middle of the night, you might feel yourself being gently shaken awake by Ran (it’s a bit scary because his hair-covered face is the first thing you see) who wants to invite you back into his room. You’re forgiven. 

➼ If he’s pissed you off, he’d also stay away for a while. Sooner or later, he’ll take out a cake or tub of ice cream with two spoons and sit with you so you can share it. If he sees you busy working on something, he’ll approach with a mug of a hot drink he prepared for you and a snack before sitting beside you. The apology comes after a long moment of silence, and things are okay again. Humbling himself and saying sorry was hard for him at first, but it got easier because he loves you.

So what'd I like about Pokemon Scarlet?

Quaxly is a good boy. 10/10. Kind of weird that they made a starter a single stage evolution though. His name is Athos and he will be the best Musketeer one day.

Love my bicycle boys. Good good lizard mounts. They can stay forever. One day I might buy me a plush of them. The cyclizar is named Rizzo and taking this picture was so fucking difficult. I miss ffxiv's gpose.

I caught a shiny! I have spent many hours through out the years shiny hunting and the only times I've found them is when I haven't been looking for them.

Big fan of the megas-man. Mine is named Aramis and she is the most powerful cannoneer in Paldea. She is the only mon that has stayed in my party since capture.

So I was fighting one of the Titans: the False Dragon Titan and I was way under leveled and all my other pokemon had fainted and it was just me and Pockets here. Pockets held the fucking line, tanked two hits that should have fainted her in a row, paralyzed the Titan, and pulled out a clutch crit for the win. The power of friendship saved the day and despite having a mid design, I couldn't bring myself to abandon my Reliable Partner. (Which she earned almost immediately after that fight so my hc is that that's how she earned it.)

I really love these little candles? I wish they had been a bigger feature of this city's gym. I was really expecting I'd be going around using the candles as clues to some kind of puzzle.

I dont have any relevant pics for the rest of these but the Falling Rocks Titan or whatever its called was another skin of my teeth battle. I was really excited to have some difficult moments in a pokemon game. I felt very clever and talented after Athos and I eeked out a win.

I enjoyed Arven's plot line. Probably the most compelling story line in the whole game. I hesitate to describe it as an arc because I'm not sure how much he grows, but I was invested in his problems enough that I prioritized finishing his quests first.

I like the concept behind tatsugiri and dondozo, though it seems odd to include in the game considering how rare double battles are.

I liked the Ruinous Artifacts side story a lot. The pokedex entry for the tablets friend I think is very telling and I was surprised they didn't carry that theme through the others in the set. Either way, I enjoyed hunting down the stakes. Finally gave me a reason to explore.

I liked a lot of the character designs. Rika is stellar and she just oozes gender. I like how many buff ladies are in this game. Eri is an icon but I'm not sure of what she is. So much of the cast as such big trans energy that my official verdict is Eri is cis just for how gender non-compliant she is. Truly there has never been a more gendered pokemon game.

My favourite teacher was Mr. Hassel. I had a lot of fun in his class. Sure isn't as visually appealing as, say, Ms Raifort or Mr Saguaro, but I have done enough school to know the best teachers are usually strange little book creatures who thrive on obscure content area trivia. Will take Mr Hassel's class until I run out of hours in my degree plan.

i stand by that shes in a qpr with jedidiah . anyway i think they have a similar build and an adjacent gender presentation so they swap clothes sometimes . juniper is a lot FANCIER but they do look good in some of the same colors so juniper usually just spruces the ones she gets from jedidiah up a bit . she “generously” offers jeddy her dress with the union jack emblazoned all over it and hes like …… no its ok thank u 

juniper is VERY much not out at home i think i get the vibe that she hides a LOT from her dad and i think that being trans would Definitely fall under that . its part of why she really enjoys going to camp and spending time with rowan because she can be out there and be more comfortable with the way she presents

i think shes Known that shes trans for a whle but its something shes closeted about for the above reasons shes Very Avoidant so shes like . i can just push that down forever and ever and never transition and it wont be an issue <3 cheers! but being so close to rowan kind of opens her up to the idea more and makes it so they can kind of realize that . yes it will be hard . but she deserves that joy in her life . which is good for her i think shes a lot happier and less stressed

↠his favorite game is either crossy roads or the big bass wheel- he loves crossy roads because of how cute the style is, but also there is impending stress and levels of  d o o m  as you progress further. big bass wheel is basically just gambling, and i think he’s yumeko jabami.

↠he hacks games to make you win sometimes,, his quirk is bascially designed to do this. it’s like he was born just to take you out on this arcade date. he uses his quirk to short circuit the game and trick the computer into giving you hundreds of tickets

↠but here’s the thing: he lets you spend all of it. you heard me, all. of. it. he just wants to see you happy, and the best way he can think of to get a final glorious memory of your smile is to let you spend the tickets as you see fit, this generosity just to see you glowing as you walk out of the building, arms chock full of amazing junk

↠but of course, you’d feel bad if you spent all of it, especially since he was the one who took you out, so you offered him the half of the tickets that were won

↠denki gets a lot of dumb things that will probably end up being thrown away soon, but he also gets you a very soft bat stuffed animal that you should treasure and keep forever 

amajiki- a walk and picnic in a japanese garden

↠tamaki is very shy, very socially anxious. he’s the kind to wait for people to leave a section of a store before he goes there, purposely do his errands in the early morning to limit social interaction, and find any excuse to leave a situation. which, tbh, isn’t that all of us?

↠let’s be honest here, if it wasn’t y’alls first date, he’d probably not go anywhere. as long as he’s with you, he doesn’t really care for anything too fancy

↠but he’s convinced himself that he needs to do something reasonably big for your first date to make sure you don’t regret your decision to go out with him. so instead of deciding to stay in, he goes somewhere that’s only slightly anxious for him, but where he still feels comfortable

↠so he’s decided on a japanese tsukiyama garden! these places are beautiful by design, not cheap but not too expensive, and people are obligated by rules to be quiet and keep their hands to themselves

↠nobody goes to a garden to socialize, in fact, i’d argue most people go just to look around, rest, and clear their heads. there’s usually not any screaming children, no quirk usage, no villains, it’s a little safe haven.

↠it’s so peaceful, and he gets to focus on you instead of whatever loud noise is making him anxious

↠skating isn’t super hard to figure out, it’s mostly intuitive, so you’ll get the hang of it quite quickly!! maybe you’re not too fast, but it’s still fun, so it doesn’t matter

↠while you’re moving with care, making sure to focus on your footwork, mina will definitely take the chance to show off her skating skills! she’s moving like crazy, weaving around other people and nearly toppling them over but shh she’s trying to impress you and if i’m being honest??? she’s really fucking good aldkdf

↠ngl, it’s so fun to pretend to be fancy for a few hours at a tea room !! you acted as if you were a member of high society, using stereotypes to exaggerate your actions. it made some people only slightly irritated, but hey, it got a laugh out of a pretty girl, so who’s the real winner? 

↠yaomomo taught you some classy etiquette that you should definitely use, it makes her so happy to think that you’re learning about new things while still enjoying your time with her

↠she makes really good conversation!! her intellect seeps through everything she says, anyone who talks to her would be able to tell that she’s extremely well-spoken and mature. momo is modest, and deflects a lot of the compliments you try to give her, so if you try to display your admiration for her, you’d probably need to be very specific about it. she doesn’t have the best self-image when it comes to her heroism and field work. spoken affection sometimes doesn’t get through to her, but you know what does? physical affection!

he’s greedy and and capricious and petty but aside from the first game + Revenge of the King he’s not really genuinely evil for the most part, and in recent is mostly decently heroic/an ally

- the only actual canon romantic relationship is kirby/ribbon. in the true ending of Crystal Shards after they fight a giant blood-spurting eyeball kirby gets a victory smooch on the cheek. nblw rights.

Uh, not anymore unfortunately. When i was in middle school, i played basketball, volleyball, did cheerleading, and was in running club. In highschool, i did cross country in the fall, and i think that's it lol, since i was mostly obsessed with doing theatre lol. Yeah, to a reasonable extent lol. I'm not one of those queer that obsesses over every little detail tho. I'm still def learning about it. I recently lesrned that you can combine astrology, with tarot readings, which can greatly specifiy the readings, for both yourself and other people, so I think i'll try that once I get a tarot deck for my birthday lol.

Well, I could be one of those queers who automatically says Halloween, but the more i think about it, i think i like the fall/halloween season waaayy more. Which makes me think that I actually like Thanksgiving a lot, as just, an American holiday. I don't think we shoukd really celebrate it for it's historical reasons, but i also will never say no to good food, family, friends, and a general warmth and sense of peace during that time of the year :3

💞 Fave thing to do on a first date?

Festivals!!!! I looooovee going to any type of market, festival, etc. with someone. I think it's a great way to explore, start conversations, and learn about someone. Cuz like, the type of art, food, trinkets, and music that draws someone in can you a lot about that person, if you think about it! It's hella cute. And then once you're tired of the crowds, most festivals usually have quiet garden or parks near them that you can escape to for some quiet time and deep conversations, lol.

No, I don't have a girlfriend lol. I have an amazing and very caring boyfriend tho. I have briefly dated women in the past tho. It's been fun, lol. I've always wondered, if i had more past romantic/sexual experiences with women, then maybe i'd possibly identify as a lesbian, but honestly, I'm proud of my journey, and I get very happy when I think about my bigender-ness and bisexuality lol. I don't think I would change that for anything. For whatever reason, i think I just click better with bois and nb ppl rather than with cis girls, i'm not sure why lol. No, lol. I used to, back in middle school tho. I def believe in love at second sight, or love at first conversation. Ppl are so damn cute when they talk about things they're passionate about, or even when they just get goofy and rant to you about a crazy story lol.

Oh god, lol. I was... *tries to do math* I think 16 or 17? I uhh had accidentally fallen for one of my best friends in high school lol. It turned out okay tho, we're still friends to this day. Thanks for that, friend, I'm so glad i realized that sooner rather than later lol.

Oh def, winter, lol. Altho winter depression is real most years, idk, i feel lkke i would rather be anxious and cold, rather than angry and sweating buckets lol. Actually now that I think about it, the summer always makes me a little more moody than winter, cause i always feel like i should doing more, but summer's really a time for waiting and rest, if you think about it. I'm always happier in the winter cause most of the time, i'm slowly moving towards certains goals in my life, and the world just...seems happier and more cozy in the winter season, idk.

Thoughts on “Genderbending”

Long post under the cut

Recently I received a couple of anons (one of which was very rude and used slurrs, the other which was less rude but was still angry and more accusatory rather than informative) telling me that “genderbending” - which is something I recently did and have been doing from time to time with Branch and Poppy from Dreamworks’ Trolls and also something I do regularly with Klonoa from the Kaze no Klonoa series (neither anon specified) - is inherently transphobic. I can kind of see where this argument comes from, but at the same time, I had never heard this before.

 I have, however, heard something incredibly similar: that the term “genderswapping” is transphobic because it implies a binary, where as “genderbending” or “rule 63″ are more appropriate terms because it implies more than two. Now, I don’t deny that I may have used the term “genderswap” before just purely on accident. I’m genuinely sorry if I have done this, because as a nonbinary person, myself, I don’t seek to reinforce a binary. Please point me out to any time that I’ve said it and I’ll edit it immediately. I will be more conscious of it in the future.

But yes, as I’ve said, I’ve never heard this argument before. So, I decided to look it up. I found discussions about it from both people who’s sidebars on tumblr state that they are transgender people, and from the transgender community on reddit (and no, one website does not represent one side or the other, I just want to be clear that I’ve checked more than one demographic, more than one platform, because I wanted to be informed by group discussion of the matter rather than one person writing some kind of article on it). Now that I’ve looked into it, and why people from both sides feel the way they do, I have some feelings of my own on the matter, again, as a trans individual, myself, and as an artist.

There are a couple of reasons as to why I’m making this its own post. One, because now that I have some specific opinions on this, I’d rather just address everybody instead of responding to an angry individual. Two, because these were, again, anons. I don’t know who these people are, if they were looking just to get a rise out of me (I must thank you, though, for drawing my interest to the topic!), or if they genuinely cared about the topic. I don’t know if they’re a cis person or a trans person, either, and I feel the need to say this before going any further: if you are a cisgender individual and feel the need to not only police but talk over and ignore the feelings of a transgender individual on a transgender issue, you are being very transphobic. Please, if you are a passionate cisgender ally who cares a lot about an issue that concerns transgender people, do not come to a transgender person with accusations, and instead maybe ask for my thoughts on the topic, why I do something the way I do, and look to educate yourself on the topic and how some trans individuals feel about it. (And respect the fact that there are topics that trans people have differing opinions on!)

Getting that out of the way, I suppose I’ll just get right to the point: I do not 100% agree or disagree with the statement that genderbending is transphobic. I lean more towards disagreement, but there are some things that keep me from full on, strongly disagreeing, and feel more like this should be handled more on a case-by-case basis.

For instance, I do see how this can be seen to reinforce a binary. Once again, I don’t think that any terminology such as “genderswapping” that outright implies a binary should be used. In addition, because “genderbending” more often than not refers to “sexbending” and not actual “genderbending” (because sex and gender are two different things), I can also see how many people do not like this term, either. I admit to not having thought of this, before, but my decision to continue to use the term “genderbending” comes from the popular use of the term: many people who do not wish to see this in any form will blacklist the term, and I’m not going to stand on some high horse and say “well I call it ‘sexbending’ so you should automatically be okay with it!”. If someone doesn’t want to see it, I shouldn’t stop using a term they’re going to blacklist (similarly to how some people started typing stupid variations of “j/o/n/tron” (i.e. “jonathan tronathan”) and my blacklist wouldn’t pick it up. I don’t think certain term switches like this are helpful at all). This doesn’t mean that I don’t acknowledge and recognize how problematic these terms are, and I will continue to push for the idea that sex and gender are two different things, because I do feel strongly about that. Just please know that any future uses of the term “genderbending” actually refer to “sexbending”.

It is really a vague, grey area of what genderbending truly refers to. While I use it in terms of sexbending, there is also an idea that genderbending refers to the transformation of “cis male” to “cis female” or vice versa. I don’t 100% approve of this, and it depends on the situation the characters are put into. If someone is going to make an alternate universe where “everything is the same except some characters are a different sex” fine, I’m okay with that, and I don’t really see a problem with that, in both instances a character starts cis and in this AU is cis, starts cis and in this AU is tans (because sex is different from gender). Instances where a character starts as trans and in this AU is cis is pretty gross!!!!! because it erases trans identities, please don’t do this. But, going from cis to cis, I don’t consider transphobic, because there is such a thing as cisgender people, and nobody is erasing any trans characters just because they keep a cis character cis.

Then there are also forms of genderbending where a character undergoes a magical transformation, and openly acknowledges that in this universe, said character had previously been a different sex. There are trans people that are against this because they believe it grossly oversimplifies the transitioning process, and there are other trans people who are totally fine with this, myself included, because it allows many trans people to fantasize about a reality where characters (specifically trans characters) do not have to undergo surgery in order to transition. This is especially apparent, I’ve noticed, in trans individuals who cannot undergo surgery (and want to) due to either financial or health complications. Please remember that genderbending happens within a fiction, a fantasy. Allow trans people to fantasize, too, please.

Transformation genderbending can be used incorrectly and problematically, though. There are cis people who ignore the idea of gender dysphoria entirely, and make cis characters who magically transform into cis characters of a different sex, and that isn’t okay, because, again, I feel that this is erasure. I want it to be well known that I am guilty of this a total of one (1) time, about five years ago, and it was due to ignorance (I wasn’t even aware of most trans identities at that point), and in all honesty, I’m working on rewriting a lot of aspects of the story that that occurred in. Every other form of transformation genderbending that I’ve done (both online and offline) has addressed gender dysphoria. Another problematic version that occurs in both transformation genderbending and just genderbending in general is fetish artwork. There are many, many (SO MANY) examples of genderbending that includes changing body types and major features of a character (i.e. making a character unreasonably curvy, getting rid of muscles, adding an obscene amount of muscles, making a character skinnier, etc.) for the sake of making a character more attractive, usually to an audience consisting of cis people. It disgusts me as both a human being and as a character designer, and I always put a lot of effort into making a genderbent character design to make sure its still the same character, only just a different sex. Like, seriously, changing a character’s entire design or an important aspect of their design for the sake of making a genderbend “attractive”, call that out, because THAT’s not okay, for reasons beyond transphobia. Genderbending, I don’t believe, should exist for the purposes of fetishes (this is different from, say, drawing NSFW of a genderbent character, because sex doesn’t necessarily equal fetish, please be aware and think critically about what kind of artwork you’re looking at. Some fetish artwork doesn’t necessarily fall under NSFW either, so don’t be afraid to call something out just because it’s SFW) and genderbending shouldn’t completely change a character design.

And in regards to characters like Klonoa (because I have many genderfluid OCs and hc a lot of characters as genderfluid) I want it to be well known that as a genderfluid individual, I use genderbending to help fantasize about transition/cope with gender dysphoria. It occurs in works of fiction, and maybe I just want my fiction to be ideal. I openly talked about Klonoa having gender dysphoria and not wanting them to suffer from disphoria when they live in a world with benevolent magic readily available. This is the main reason why I genderbend characters, and I actually encouraged others, both cis and trans, to genderbend Klonoa because of this idea that Klonoa is genderfluid. I also have genderfluid OCs who undergo transformation genderbending in order to combat dysphoria, like, this is just a common theme with me. I feel like it helps give more visibility to their gender identity and also gets audience members more comfortable with trans identities outside of the gender binary. I genuinely do feel like, if pulled off correctly, some forms of genderbending can actually be beneficial to the trans community because it can aid in breaking down taboos.

Overall, I do see genderbending as a grey area that can be pulled off terribly and problematically, and I don’t blame people for not liking it, but doing it for fun or even for fantasizing isn’t always a problem, and in some cases, can be beneficial to trans individuals, and are produced by trans artists. Be very conscious of source of artwork before calling someone out or their work out as problematic, because, chances are, you don’t know the whole story. At the same time, as an artist, especially a non-marginalized artist, please be aware of what you are creating and any damage it could possibly do. If you’re going to be writing a marginalized character (in a group you are not a part of, especially) do your research!  Anyways, maybe this was spurred by an anon, but this has evolved into something I really wanted to voice my opinion and own personal experiences on.
