She's not a good primality test, but yknow it was where i started.

There is a button you can use to turn back into your agab, but you can only press it once. If you press it, everyone will forget about your gender switcharoo and remember you as your agab again. The button disappears after a year and you can’t reverse the change at this point.

Read Jeff Kass' Columbine: A True Crime Story the other day (this is the best, most factual English-language book on the subject; Cullen's book is basically his fanfic in many respects), and came across this interesting bit:

The context is that Kass is discussing why it is that girls are more likely to spot warning signs of school shooters (gender is such a huge component of this problem, yet there is so little discussion of it, so I really respect Kass for even including this brief bit in his book).

Since then, I've been thinking about this concept of feminine social responsibility in a more general sense and how it relates to the Eva women.

Ritsuko pays no mind to questions of right and wrong. She facilitates Third Impact with impartiality and only attempts to thwarts it to hurt Gendo after she decides the events of episode 23 are the last straw. Ritsuko reveals the truth of Rei, all the cruelty and all the facade, to Misato and Shinji for her own personal catharsis -- not for Rei or anyone else's material benefit. Not even her own, really, since this results in Gendo putting her in what basically amounts to solitary confinement. The most "responsible" thing Ritsuko does in the series is probably chastising Misato for her off-color and concerning jokes about SA towards Shinji in episode 2, but even that feels like a slap in the face after finding out her complicity in Gendo's abuse of Rei. Ritsuko knows she's doing ~bad~ things and loses no sleep over it until she can no longer deny that she's been hurt by this arrangement, and even then, the morals aren't her concern -- only that she can no longer bury this pain.

Naoko fits into this in much the same way -- her research into Rei mirror's Misato's research, yet Naoko ultimately copes with the suspicion that something is amiss in the same way that Ritsuko copes with the certainty and acceptance that there is -- by killing Rei. Naoko's interaction with Rei is, fittingly, much more personal -- Naoko kills with her bare hands; Ritsuko does so with the push of a button. Additionally, there's not really anything to suggest that Naoko was planning on doing anything with her information on Rei -- the murder was committed on impulse. If Ritsuko does an arguably materially good act for selfish reasons, then Naoko does a needlessly cruel act for selfish reasons. This situation is less nuanced.

Maya probably showcases this feminine social responsibility the most out of the Eva women -- she stands up to Gendo and tries to police Ritsuko in much the same way that Misato and Ritsuko try to police each other. Cracks begin to form for Maya, too, but she resigns herself to continue going with the program, unlike Misato, who is at least genuinely curious and does her own independent research.

Misato is hawkish and, much like Maya, wholeheartedly believes that NERV is a net positive for the world. But when Kaji reveals the Adam-Lilith switcharoo in episode 15, Misato's worldview begins to crack. Yet she quietly sits on this information, barely discussing it with Kaji. Her most significant interactions regarding this are with Ritsuko, whom she batters over these doubts as she refuses to accept partial blame for Shinji's potential demise in episode 16. Misato's ego is bruised by Kaji's revelation to her, because it pokes holes in the myth that fuels her life's purpose. Ultimately, the concern boomerangs back to Misato herself, rather than the pilots or the millions of people around the world who are starving because governments' budgets are drained from supporting NERV. The difference between Misato and Ritsuko is that Ritsuko is under no impression that she's "good." Misato is.

Now we come to Yui. Like Naoko, her actions are really only to fuel her own desires and ego -- Misato and Ritsuko are more nuanced than Naoko and Yui. Yui waxes poetic about the moon, stars, happiness, etc. but ultimately...her master plan was not concocted for any noble reason, but rather, to serve herself.

Kaji, interestingly, does display social responsibility. He tells Misato the truth about Adam/Lilith out of the goodness of his heart; not for any ulterior motive. His research and status as a triple agent stems from his genuine desire for the truth. Unlike Misato, his worldview is not based on either side of the coin. Unlike Ritsuko, Kaji is actively trying to thwart the wrongs he's forced to do as part of his job, and it costs him his life. This is not the only time that Kaji is assigned a typically feminine role/trait/status, etc.

I have not discussed Asuka and Rei here for a few reasons. One is that their responsibilities are less nuanced (though significantly heavier in many ways) than that of the women -- which makes sense, being that they're teenagers. Another reason is that, unlike Yui, Naoko, Maya, Ritsuko, and Misato, Asuka and Rei never commit any grave wrongdoings throughout the series. At worst they are a little annoying or slightly rude.

ok so that might've been a classic move for an alpha in like 2003 but times have changed and literally no alpha acts like that nowadays. even if he WAS trying to court Dream he wouldn't have done in a video like that - his reputation is entirely at stake.

taking care of someone when they're sick literally isn't posessive though???? Like ok Jimmy's head alpha of the pack and has to kind of fight to assert dominance because al of them (except Nolan) are also alphas but that has nothing to do with Dream??? if anything he was being a good friend and taking care of someone who was sick. they shared a tent so he could keep an eye on him. that's literally just normal friend behavior - he probably discussed it with SNF earlier and had Karl hang with them so they could enjoy antarctica without having to constantly take care of Dream.

He's literally just doing regular pack leader behavior - and he appears to be really good at it - taking care of a sick member, making sure everyone's not freaking out because a member of the pack is sick, keeping an eye on everything. Dude sucks sometimes but at least he's a good alpha.

As SC Anon (sorry, are we good to use nicknames ?) said, the video was HEAVILY edited. Like, we see Dream and Mr Beast going in for a hug when they get back from the moutain but it cuts ; Nolan sleeping in between the two so that the proper space and third party rule is respected (and like. SC anon said it themselves, Nolan is the only non alpha aka the only one not "threatening" ?? I don't think that is a coincidence) ; at the start of the video they're always next to each others ; that comment Dream makes about knowing MrBeast is pantless ?? Like how ?. We could even see in Dream's longer version (bless its soul) how close the two were originaly. There were definitely some moves made. And I'm pretty sure it's intentionnal Karl was so much with Sapnap and George, to distract them from their newly reunited pack mate. Also I disagree with the "terrible public move" bc nothing untoward happened, Mr Beast was a gentleman on all regards. But 1) he made it clear to Dream in survival conditions he was reliable and a good option 2) he showed it to the world ? Like call that neon flash of "Omega gets sick in Antartica, I manage to keep them perfectly healthy", that was a good boost for his reputation as a carer (not that should matter for alphas, and it pushes bad stereotypes, but that's how traditionnal - and they represent à good part of Mr Beast's audience - saw it). So it was a win for him on every point

Even if the Beast got caught, and he will because Dream's immune system is weak as shit and will reject whatever the fuck was done to him pretty soon, he would still get no legal backlash because Dream the idiot would for sure back him up in saying it was fully consensual and that he was informed on all sides and still took the risk. This is a lose-lose situation and I fucking hate it so much!

Heartbreaking, not least because of how well it parallels that moment three years ago when Mong-woo was the one on her knees, begging him to save her. But he is the king before he is anyone's uncle, friend, or lover. If that's ever going to change, he'll need to be dethroned. Fortunately almost everyone involved is striving toward that goal

This plan is completely crazy but let's not dwell on that. I appreciate that she has so many platonic male friends and co-conspirators. Obviously Myung-ha must still harbor some feelings for her but he's not obsessively clinging to the past. It seems like he has accepted that Kang Hui-soo is gone, replaced by this little gender-fluid insurgent who is amazing at baduk but terrible at real life strategy

Okay actually let's dwell on it for just a second because WHAT THE FUCK. If we ignore all the ways this could go sideways, I just want to understand what the plan, if executed perfectly, entails? This poor girl with no courtly education, comportment, or skills goes to Qing as Prince Rui's bride, pretending not to know his language so that she can spy on him with a constant risk not only to herself but of a full-scale war against Joseon should this unbelievable affront be revealed?

Poppy's back at it again with 'what happened with NF was rape by deception' and... I gotta ask, what's the deception? to be rape by deception, there has to be DECEPTION. Deception about one's identity(in the case of the usual sibling switcharoo example), about having STDs, about using protection... what's the deception? Because by Poppy's own admission, her view of the 'deception' was 'NF didn't love me anymore :C' which... I mean, that's not deception. Otherwise we'd have to qualify one night stands as rape. I'm ace, and even I know that sex doesn't always have to mean love. Plus, the information we know of now where NF tried to break up with Poppy before Poppy even came to visit... Poppy's entire argument falls apart because how can she argue "NF said she loved me and she didn't and I wouldn't have had sex if I didn't think NF loved me therefore it is rape" when the actual facts are "My gf tried to break things off but I pushed her to continue our visit and publicly commented on the unsteady situation even calling her my maybe partner, then after we had sex (hours later, not directly after) my gf broke things off for good. Ergo, rape!!". It's ridiculous. And as Poppy muddies the definition of rape to suit her narrative, she's not doing other SA survivors any favors at all. Nor is she doing any favors for her fellow trans people, as even looking up 'rape by deception' I see that people have historically argued that lying about one's assigned gender at birth counts as rape by deception. Poppy should be ashamed of herself.

And to tease it a little, it involves a spoonful of crack, gender questioning and coming outs, and a Ravioli wedding. Definitely lighter than most of the things I write about !

So with the season almost over and the next hero I believe to be teased as another support. Who do you think or hoping it will be? Personally I would like to see more characters from Oasis or Vishkar get some spotlight

Well there have been hints from the producers that there's a future hero associated with "The Collective" from the Esperança map. Basically in the lore The Collective is this organization that built a massive sea wall out of a new material called "Durovidro" (Hard glass). I mean it's map lore that's been unusually independent from much of Overwatch's other worldbuilding, but is still in line with Overwatch's themes as a whole. So it could easily just be kind of hand-wavey misdirection, kind of like Emre Sarioglu or the Orisa-Doomfist Switcharoo, or we could see a character that is attempting to return to the core of Overwatch's worldbuilding while also being kind of independent of all the Overwatch/Talon drama and thus open up the world *cough* Without worrying about answering old lore questions *cough*.

I feel like it's going to be a male character because 3/4 of the new characters we've seen have been female and I can see Blizzard wanting to try and get a better hold on younger male players while expanding options for the support class--kind of like how we saw Kiriko be a "Support for people who like playing Genji," as well as make the support class a bit more gender-neutral after Kiriko's addition. Plus with Ramattra being such an over-the-top charismatic antihero/villain, they can go in a lot of different directions that will still help the new hero feel distinct. I’d be really interested in seeing a disabled hero--Like, I mean Blizzard can keep slapping prosthetic limbs on people and that’s fine, but I’d be interested in seeing a futuristic wheelchair or some kind of cool full-body mobility frame.

Here to share the fucked up details of my dream before I forget... long and includes graphic violence so it's under a read more.

First I was allegedly in some American state (Texas i think?) But it was that state in name only. It was cold and wintry and made up from a series of small interconnected islands. VERY ugly. I was a spy there and I had to seduce this guy for information. Except he was ugly and kind of rude. I must have seemed very hot and cold to him because I would abruptly drop the ruse whenever I saw someone I recognised because I found it embarrassing. And for some reason all my classmates were also at the island. So whenever one of them would be like hi Maria! How goes the presentation? I would ditch the guy I was to seduce and be like yeahhh I've not started lol!! Idk who this freak is. And when they'd leave I'd go back to flirting with him. I asked him where he was staying. I found out he was staying in a very ugly hotel? Kind of... Brutalism meets the Chrysler building meets water tower? It was very ugly. This hotel will return later in the narrative. Onto the next part.

Then there was a setting that I had before. So, in real life, my grandmother lives in Warsaw, but spends quite some time in her rural childhood home. In this setting, she also has a city flat and a tiny house with fewer utilities, except they're much closer: a less than two hour walk Vs a more than two hour drive. They are connected by a very large cemetery which is divided into two sections: the section nearer the city flat has exclusively human graves. The section nearer the country cottage is mostly a pet cemetery, but there are also veterinarians buried there. That's it that's the second part of the dream.

The second was more fucked up. There was a "crime of the week" style detective drama. There were two detectives whose genders would change from case to case relatable am I right ladies. They were kind of in love with each other but would also flirt incessantly with suspects and often seduce them. But the thing that mostly made the TV show weird was that the severity of the crimes would vary wildly. One week, they were solving a missing pet case. It turned out fine, the delighted little girl was reunited with her lost cat. Then the next week they found, on a train station, two corpses which were switcharooed. Like cut in half horizontally and sown back together. And their investigation led them to the ugly hotel from the first part of the dream! One of the detectives (I sometimes viewed him from a third person perspective, sometimes I was just him) was very much led by intuition and his partner had learnt he was seldom wrong so he went alone with it.

And he chose a random door to open and the room was very dark and kind of gross. There was a man there who thought the detectives were like... Delivery people for weird body pillows? He had a lot of weird body pillows which were very disturbing. Most depicted women being brutally raped and mutilated. And the two detectives made eye contact in a ha! We have our guy! way. And then they noticed that under the pile of body pillows resembling mutilated people there was actually a mutilated body oopsy!

So this makes no sense but it made perfect sense in the dream. So it turned out there were two murderers and they were the guys initially found switcharooed at the train platform. Like it might have been a premonition of the Will Graham persuasion who knows. Anyway. One of their victims managed to get away after being trapped in the hotel room for days. She looked like Klaasje Amandou from Disco Elysium but didn't have Dasha Redscare's jaded smoker voice. She had a very sweet voice she was very sweet. So sweet both of the detectives immediately started hitting on her even though she told them her horrible traumatic story:

When she was hiding in the room she saw her husband and four children get murdered and mutilated and then their bodies were stuffed next to her. Because the murderers thought she was dead already they just didn't kill her well enough. So she had to watch them get brutally tortured and couldn't do anything about it and THEN their bodies were dumped next to her and she had to stay put next to the rotting mutilated corpses of her beloved family.

And like most of the bodies were sawn in half and stitched together just like those found on the platform. And one of the detectives went into deep psychological explanations on why the murderers would do that and everybody nodded sagely. Both were also masters of disguise. Like how they lured the husband and children of this woman was by successfully pretending to be her. Even though they were huge, burly men, and she was. Klaasje Amandou from Disco Elysium.

And one of the murderers turned on his murder partner and did the whole sewing him in half and switcharooing him thing with himself, maybe? Time was weird. As we've established, some things might be premonitions and people might appear dead months before they are.

ANYWAY he was presenting himself as an innocent victim who was forced to witness all the murders, just like Klaasje was. And the detectives were like don't worry Miss Amandou you are very beautiful it is going to be a super tough legal battle and we can't imagine going through what you did and losing your family and this man is going to fight tooth and nail but he WILL see justice don't worry you beautiful beautiful woman.

EXCEPT due to the nature of disguise... It was left ambiguous which one was actually lying... The supposed murder partner... Or Klaasje, Miss Oranje Disco Dancer... Who COULD have been the murderer in disguise!!!!!!!! But I have also fallen victim to her... Hypothetical wiles? Because I (this time as the viewer, not the intuitive detective) was like NO she couldn't have done that she's a sad and pretty lady........

Also there was a joke which was super funny in the dream but is objectively not but I'll share it anyway. The detectives initially only found the bodies of two children. And when Miss Oranje Disco Dancer was rescued or escaped they were like sorry ma'am we found the bodies of your two children... And she was like ah I saw four of my children murdered before me... And one of the detectives gestured to the other that they actually found more, and the other was like yeah we found four bodies of children! Hell, we found six!! And Miss Oranje Disco Dancer looked horrified so he was like yeah no four. We found four.
